Note
oh good you saw the character ask meme. let’s start off easy
Mal: 3, 7, 19, 29, 43 5050505050
and bonus Hemlock questions : 5, 35
"let's start off easy" [fear.jpg] (affectionate)
Delta Green (the "everything's horrible and eldritch" TTRPG) OC brainrot beneath the cut (with some bonus BG3 OC questions 💙)
Malachi Maladaptive Coping Mechanisms Steadman
3. Obscure headcanon
Boy Scout. Never got close to eagle scout, but it's related to why he wound up hiking a big chunk of the Appalachian Trail.
7. Age/height/weight headcanon
40yo in 2015
5ft 11in
I genuinely have no idea what's a reasonable weight for his stupid Captain America build. 170?? Idk?
19. Vices/bad habits
Vice: work...
Bad habit: accidentally staring
29. Eating habits
Does not eat at all when stressed; is often stressed. In the same vein: guilty of not considering food at all until he's actively hungry and then even though he's canonically good at cooking he'll just eat a sandwich in the cold light of the fridge at 9pm and call it good.
Does need to eat breakfast and have a coffee in the mornings or he'll be an asshole.
43. 3 favorite foods and 3 they despise
Favs:
He's a simple dude if you give him a good-enough steak he might cry
Pasta with vodka sauce
Pretzels
Despises:
Pickles, especially sweet pickles
Horseradish
Cornbread
50. A memory they’ve blocked out
[redacted :)]
Jokes aside there is... so much. And most of it is stuff I don't know that the Handler can just spring on me at any moment, which is fun/terrifying.
For this question though: I don't think he remembers dropping out of college.
Hemlock
5. Best personality trait
They're very brave. Like, when it matters, they are 'will stand up to a god without flinching' levels of brave.
35. Their idea of a perfect day
Squinting into the sun, walking through a big city; nobody here except their boyfriend knows their name.

Can I something for Lost & Found? I scroll past it in by bookmarks all the time and I'm eager for more!
Ogh, man, Lost and found... (Wip ask game!!)
See what I'm struggling with there is that I got a good bit into chapter 2 while on a flight to somewherecan'tremember and lost like. All of it. Because I closed the app for too long and the lack of connectivity ate it!!! Even though it was supposed to be fine!! Moral of the story is never trust technology (said by the IT major). Obviously my reaction was to pout about it forever.
Anyway I did get moving on chapter 2 again, but while I was sulking I wrote ahead a little bit (as I am prone to do) and thus have the content. I debated on not giving spoilers and then decided I don't care and I'm really excited to share this snippet so!!! Have some retrospective from Simon (not Ghost).
Some other info before that in case anyone is interested: I did finally decide what Ghost and Soap's relationship is in this and its [?????]. Like almost an established relationship and since this is from Ghost's pov he's obviously whipped, and if Soap isn't equally whipped then he's at least encouraging Ghost, but aside from Ghost's internal monologue of being disgustingly in love 24-7 and constantly on the verge of sloppy makeouts they still haven't kissed or anything like. Explicitly romantic. So take that as you will. I've also decided how they met/what the home situation is!! So I'm excited. They were really the only unknowns here because Simon is. Well he's an OC and also I'm playing him in a TTRPG, so I know exactly where he came from and what he's doing (trying not to die.)
Anyway, nearly 1k below the cut and aside from mentions of violence and implied neglect of a child I don't think there's anything to watch out for here :3 lmk if I'm wrong. Enjoy!
Simon tries really hard to be a good kid, is the thing.
It's not, like, a complex or anything—at least he doesn't think it is. He doesn't remember ever having it drilled into him by Dad; it's just something that has always made sense. He never understood when the twins or Maria or whatever-her-name-was hawked on Lights or Cyclops for stupid shit like their fears or looks. That's why he wasn't sad to see Maria die.
Which—okay yeah, a little fucked up, but that doesn't make him a bad kid. Maria even deserved it when Athena snapped her neck. Probably. He's not clear on the moral aspect of it, doesn't know enough about murder or homicide or whatever to pass judgment on whether or not Maria's death was just. But he's a good kid, he knows it. The adults in the community would say it all the time—his dad, too. 'You're a good kid, Simon,' whenever he picked up after himself or did his chores or won a rugby game or finished his homework. Not that he's a suck-up—was a suck-up, not that he was a suck-up. He needs to say 'was' now, since most of the adults are dead and he doesn't even know where his dad is.
But, you know, it's fine. Simon's a good kid, and he kept the house clean while his dad was away, even when the weeks stretched on long enough to make him start to wonder. Not doubt, he doesn't—didn't—doubt his dad. He's seventeen now, and he's never had that 'rebel' phase he's heard of through adults; it's sort of a point of pride—or it was sort of a point of pride. He supposes breaking into his dad's office with his friends to steal maps and old family photos counts as rebellious. So, maybe he just didn't have a rebel phase until that.
He's just also a little lost, is the issue. Literally lost, not in the metaphorical sense where he needs to go on some inner journey. He needs to find his dad. His dad, who apparently did not leave for a scouting trip and instead went looking for Simon's mom—who isn't dead, like they had both thought. At least, Simon had thought that.
He doesn't know what his dad thought anymore; his dad didn't so much as leave a note to let Simon know where he was off to. Those three weeks spent cleaning and taking care of the house in his absence feel a lot less mundane and a lot more foreboding, in retrospect. Would he have still gone to class and done his chores if he'd known what his dad was doing? Probably, because he's a good kid. (So why not tell him?)
But it probably doesn't matter now, since it's done and in the past. Lots of things about Simon's previously comfortable life are ending up in the past-tense now, simply because they no longer apply or can't apply the same way. But Simon is a good kid. Present tense. Is. Because he's still trying really hard to be one. It's harder, though, when no one is telling him what is good to do and he has to think for himself. He has to think for other people too—for Coda and Leaf and Irix and Shaq (and Lights and Tunes and Cyclops and Athena), who are all years younger than him and in need of protective guidance.
Simon's not so good at guiding—leaving the community had pretty quickly brought to his attention that he'd spent most of his life just listening to what people told him—but he can protect. He was on the rugby team, he knows how to push people around, and back when Dad would stay at home they used to go hunting, so he knows how to shoot a gun.
But that brings him back to the 'lost' issue; he can't protect any of them if they're separated. He didn't mean to get lost in the storm. He'd just wanted to help and make sure everyone got in the vehicle, didn't even know that wind could blow so strong that it'd pick him up.
Apparently it can, and it did, and he woke up on the roof of a building with scrapes on his palms and dirt in his ears, and absolutely no sense of direction. He'd cried a little, then. Maybe it was childish, but it had been a rough couple of days—between cannibals and raiders and storms (and zombies and corpses and)—so he cut himself some slack for throwing a bit of a shitfit when he discovered he'd chipped a front tooth.
(The fact that none of the girls were around to see it and all the other jocks who would have made fun of him were probably dead did briefly make him feel a little better, and then a whole lot worse.)
A day after that is when he found the soldiers—Ghost and Soap. He hadn't really met any adults with names like his peers before but for all the firsts he was having, this one barely clocked.
They were... cool. They reminded him of comic book characters with their velcro pouches and shawls and masks and sleek guns. Sure, he might’ve pointed a gun at Ghost, but he's self-aware enough to know that he wouldn't have been able to shoot—at least not while Ghost was being decent toward him. Coda and Athena have killed people, Simon hasn't. (Generally good kids don't kill people, but he has a feeling there are exceptions to the rule, so he would like to make the distinction.)

Hello, I'm PS. I sometimes paint minis and write fanfic.
I primarily rep the Salamanders, but I also like the Red Corsairs, the Iron Warriors, the Thousand Sons, Vashtorr the Arkifane, my original Dark Mechanicum sect, and several Astartes/Legionary characters from other Chapters/Legions.

Mini Painting
Salamanders Lore
This is (unfortunately) a sideblog, so apologies if it's hard to tell whether we've interacted. If it helps, my main is a very old astronomy-related blog!
Asks are always open! I welcome feedback on my painting and writing. I'm trying my best to improve at both. 😅
Peek under the "Keep Reading" and I'll tell you way too much about myself and about my favourite guys.
Y'know, if you want. Don't say I didn't warn you. 💚
About me:
I live in the UK, but I wasn't born or raised here.
I was an archaeologist, but I'm a copy editor now. Cheers, Brexit. 🙄
My major hobby is LARP. I crew and play quite a lot of small and mid-size games.
My first experience with Warhammer 40k was a Dark Heresy TTRPG Campaign campaign where I played a "pilgrim" (scout equivalent) from a renegade Space Marine Chapter who was part of an Inquisitor's retinue. Still one of the best TTRPGs I've ever played.
Fell in love with the Salamanders due to a plot point in that game. Later read the Tome of Fire books, which only deepened my love.
I wanted to start painting, but after an uncomfortable experience at what was then my local GW store, I didn't feel like it would be a good idea.
My spouse and I painted minis for a few RPGs and Legacy board games together over the years. We sucked, but it was fun.
Last year, I started watching Warhammer videos while painting Frosthaven minis. Finding Ebay Miniature Rescues was what finally got through to me.
Since then, I've been painting and reading when I can. I've played Killteam a few times with my spouse, loved it every time.
I'm neurodivergent and a bit bad at communication. I have three modes: enthusiasm, anxiety spiral, and complete hermit. All of these can make me difficult to interpret. I've spent years giving myself hell for it and I'm trying not to do that any more, but please understand that it only takes one brief conversation for me to consider us friends. If I forget to reply, I still think you're amazing and I will genuinely be delighted if you nudge me or randomly get in touch months or years later.
I'm currently pregnant and off my narcolepsy meds, so my painting is on hiatus because I'm not awake enough most of the time. Very frustrating.
Canon Faves:
ALL THE SALAMANDERS - literally all of them. I'm super hung up on Nick Kyme's Rebirth though, so my favourites are Ur'zan Drakgaard (whom I HC as being a dreadnought in current 40k), Adrax Agatone, and the poor little meow meow x feral massive hiss hiss duo of Exor and Zartath (yes, he counts!!). Also, Chaplain Elysius is always 10/10. Sa'kan from Pariah Nexus is also wonderful and I hope we see him again soon.
All the cool humans around the Salamanders - RIP Makato. Issak and Agatone should kiss once. Shoutout to Tsu'gan's brander, he didn't deserve what happened to him. Colonel Redgage is babygirl and I'll always wonder if he survived.
Non-Salamander OCs:
Kemal Afshar and Setka Radjedef of the Thousand Sons. Technically my spouse's OCs, but they're kind of shared at this point. Despite being on different sides of the Ahriman-Magnus divide, these ancient Terran boys meet often to play sorcerous board games together. You can read more about them here! Also, these lads have minis! Plus, they're in my Thousand Sons Killteam.
After writing this story and one more that isn't on Ao3 yet, I also have Yazid Melek. He's an Exalted Sorceror from the Cult of Mutation who focuses on psychically active and mutated plants.
Warsmith Kirakos Neman of the Iron Warriors and Fleet Captain Roscius Sedulius of the Red Corsairs enter into a trade agreement together with personally devastating consequences. You can read more about them (and other characters from their warbands) here!
Skitarius Escher has been requisitioned from Forgeworld Urum by the Inquisition, serving in a team headed by Interrogator Arion Astraeus under the auspices of Inquisitor Griselda Novaria of the Ordo Hereticus. You can read more about them (and the rest of their team) here!
I also have several techmarines-in-training and Deathwatch marines. So far, I've only uploaded two stories about any of them: Adathan of the Blood Angels and Julen of the Imperial Fists.
OC squad: Salamanders 6th Company's 3rd Tactical
(Apologies for the Heroforge pics below, I hope to actually put together my squad's minis this year and then this'll have proper pictures. Or I'll commission some artwork.)
The 6th's 3rd is a squad of Salamanders currently stationed in the rotating garrison at Clymene. Currently eight men + a Sergeant, though they often deploy with the addition of Lexicanum An'terea, an elderly Astartes who was caught up in the Psychic Awakening at the turn of the millennium.
Tumblr media
Brother Lattis (R) describing a creature to Sergeant Te'rien. (L).
Led by Sergeant Benedan Te'rien (~160), a fixture of the 6th. In the forge, Te'rien specialises in fine metalwork. Te'rien has tried to run his squad like a family where he is the paterfamilias, but he's still emotionally compromised after the death of someone he had an intense friendship with in the past. Even though younger Astartes are often seen as more emotional and less detached, Te'rien is an example of how untrue this is. His deep love for the 6th Company stands in contrast with his stubborn refusal to leave Clymene to rejoin the rest of the 6th in Aethonian. Only his current Captain and second-best friend Nehr Ur’Venn knows the reason for his self-imposed exile.
Tumblr media
An'terea (L) and Philo (R) reminiscing.
Pe'tar Philo and Carix An'terea go back like 250 years and are absolutely devoted to each other. It's not that they exclude others on purpose, they're just unrelatably old and are the only ones left from an extremely tight knit squad that died many years before. An'terea isn't technically part of the same squad as Philo any more, but he takes advantage of his new Librarian status (thanks, Psychic Awakening) to attach himself to whatever squad Philo is part of. There are several younger Astartes he cares about like Kea'hi and Val'ten, and both Philo and An'terea have grown closer to Sabinus in recent years.
Philo is a brash, avuncular man who cares deeply about the squad. He was a Sergeant in the 5th many years ago and hated being in charge. Since then, he has rejected promotion. He just wants to fight on and spend the calm parts of his life reminiscing with An'terea. Only bothered crossing the Rubicon because An'terea asked him to.
Tumblr media
Cor'en (L) scanning Bai'keti (R) after an accident with a malfunctioning power sword.
I don't plan to discuss this further in any of my Salamander stories beyond All-seeing Dawn, but pilot and emergency medic Cor'en (~300, claims 75) is an infiltrator. Not from Alpha Legion, but from a homebrew rogue chapter called the Reavers in Metal. He was meant to infiltrate the Deathwatch, but got stuck with the Salamanders by mistake. He genuinely respects Te'rien. Watching the flawed little Sergeant do his best reminds Cor'en of humanity's tenacity. He's not a big fan of the rest of the squad, though. He misses his old squad. He hopes to leave the Salamanders soon. He just this needs to get his hands on one thing, and then he can “die” on the next battlefield and go home. He's the only Firstborn in the squad at first, though more will arrive as young Primaris marines are promoted and older Firstborn marines transfer to the reserve companies.
Tumblr media
Lattis (L) and Ke'leth (R) having a drink.
Lattis (60s), Ke'leth(80s), and Kea'hi (~45) are the tight core of the squad. The Themian Lattis thinks he's the ringleader of this group because Te'rien was his Forgefather when he was a child, but it's actually Ke'leth, a cuddly Hesiodian who takes on many young apprentices. Kea'hi is a bit younger, he is a very normal Salamander. Kea'hi worries that his position might be insecure since he's the youngest in the core and Lattis gives another soldier called Atsen Bai'keti a hard time for being “the baby”, but Kea'hi only thinks that because he doesn't understand what's actually going on between those two. The truth is that Lattis hates people he sees as dishonest, so he saw red when Bai'keti showed up and started swaggering around. Unfortunately, Lattis hasn't noticed that Bai'keti has grown up a lot over the years, so he keeps tormenting him.
Tumblr media
Ke'leth (L) with one of his forgechildren.
Tumblr media
Sabinus (R) comforting Bai'keti (L).
Sabinus (~65) used to be part of the core group until Bai'keti showed up. His defense of Bai'keti from Lattis's bullying split him off a little from that group, but only Lattis actually lost respect for him. Everyone else still likes him, and Sabinus, Philo and An'terea have become more friendly since then. Sabinus has a heavy, sullen face, but he's actually calm, perceptive and knows the backgrounds of all his squad mates except Cor’en. He has a big heart and a forgiving nature. He would make a good Sergeant, but he's utterly uninterested in command and doesn't know the rest of the 6th Company well on account of being stuck in Clymene for many decades. He may still be promoted someday. Teased Val'ten a little at first because he found him a bit soft.
Tumblr media
Bai'keti (R) discussing his dodgy power sword with Sabinus. (L)
Atsen Bai'keti (~32) was never meant to be in the 6th's 3rd. He was once a special scout, not intended for the companies at all but for Mars. However, he suffered a medical mishap and ended up taking significantly longer than average to ascend, meaning that a different scout who began ascension after him left for Mars in his stead. Unfortunately, all the stress, memory issues, and the fall from star scout to disappointment meant that he was a complete mess when he joined the squad. At first, he acted childishly superior and conceited out of insecurity. He has mellowed over the years, especially now that his body has stabilised. Nevertheless, Lattis still gives him hell. When Sabinus stood up in Bai'keti's defense, this unfortunately created tension in the squad and isolated Bai'keti further. With only two friends and a horrible power sword he is desperately failing to make work, Bai'keti doesn't feel like he's part of the squad. Things will improve tremendously for him once he leaves for Mars and finds that he's older and more experienced than the average Techmarine-in-training. He will probably join the Deathwatch after that and return in his 80's with an actual reason to swagger around.
Tumblr media
Val'ten (R) gets a talking-to from Sergeant Te'rien (L).
Dejan Val'ten (~25) is the newest member of the 6th. He was a PDF orphan from Heliosa before he was apprenticed to a Brother there. He's the opposite of Bai'keti, having had a relatively straightforward ascension. Unlike his Brother Salamanders, he isn't particularly gifted in the forge, but what he lacks in technical skills he makes up for with tenacity, diplomacy and a strategic mind. He's overly aware of his youth and inexperience, so he tries hard to fit in. He makes friends quickly with Bai'keti, which makes Kea'hi avoid him by proxy. Lattis and Keleth, however, treat him relatively well. On the flip side, Sabinus makes fun of him sometimes. Val'ten idolizes Sergeant Te'rien at first, but comes to see his human side. They will have been good friends for many years by the time Te'rien dies and Val'ten replaces him as Sergeant.
Tumblr media
Dal'ris Moloi (~27) is not a Salamander. He was an aspirant who failed to ascend, and is now Val'ten's brander-priest. He requested to be assigned to Val'ten because Val'ten helped his family while he was a scout. The two become very close, working on a secret project together. Val'ten discovers that he enjoys making Dal'ris happy, Dal'ris thinks Val'ten is hot and is flattered that his Lord Astartes pays so much attention to him. They're falling in love.
Drek'tyr (~300) is a very old firstborn who moves down from a higher company when he realizes everyone around him is Primaris now. He replaces Bai'keti. He has a stupid saurian hat and I love him a lot. A little gremlin of an Astartes. He's here because my spouse gave me a very silly mini of a Salamander with a dinosaur head.

Note
where can i find more about your ocs tho I wanna know more before i ask...
OK SO I'm terribly disorganized but a few of the highlights:
#bramble's adventures in tabletopping is my TTRPG tag, recent/long term PCS include:
Tally Goodbobbin, halfling warlock of the archfey, homebrew 1910s setting (D&D 5e). Shiftless youngest daughter of an affluent merchant family, made a pact with the Fourth Bride of Winter while blackout drunk on absinthe at a party and now travels the countryside with her friends in a stolen model T doing good deeds because it's easier than dealing with consequences. Won the parentage of a two-year-old in a fairy riverboat casino and recently failed to prevent the assassination of Fantasy Archduke Ferdinand.
Bastiaan "Much" Eikenboom, gnome druid of spores, Waterdeep Dragon Heist (D&D 5e). Perennial grad student in applied mycology who accidentally initiated himself into the Circle of Spores and is now on indefinite medical leave from the school. Not a necromancer, he insists, as he uses niche necromancy knowledge that he learned in his theoretical necromancy classes to solve necromancy problems.
[the sound of a stone hitting a bandit's shitty helmet], or Plunk, kenku scout rogue, Rime of the Icemaiden (D&D 5e). Grew up in Ten-Towns, is now investigating the whole "eternal winter" thing on behalf of her family's powerful contacts from Luskan. The only adult in the party.
Kit September, antiquarian darkling of the autumn court (Changeling: the Lost). Snarky, perpetually on its phone, uses it/itself pronouns. Put a party member on a magical baby leash and has more or less adopted its own fetch.
My main original cast right now is my Goblins of Hillock House, major characters are:
Notorious highwaygoblin Rose o' Roads - successful and extremely flamboyant bandit, a bad influence but in a fun quirky way, Has A Motif And They're Sticking To It (it's roses).
Jenny Leech, doctor at Hillock House Hospital - no-nonsense, generally wears a vaguely plaguedoctor-like mask, very enthusiastic about disinfecting things although she may or may not have a working understanding of germ theory.
Alfred the Poisoner, alchemist and apothecary - would like to remind everyone that it was one time, ok, he hasn't poisoned anyone in years, stop laughing Rose he knows you're the one who convinced everyone to call him that. Fussy and a bit of a softy.
Jenny Little, apprentice apothecary - Alfred's student, her parents sent her to study at Hillock House after like the third time she accidentally poisoned herself in the hope that she'd learn what not to put in her mouth.
Also I have like a zillion fantrolls, I'm not gonna list 'em but you can ask about anyone who shows up in the fantroll tag on my artblog.

for my own amusement, and bc i just said florian shouldve been a paladin, im gonna take my major ttrpg ocs and say which 5e subclass theyd be for each class, for fun. for vibes. some of them have canon for this already but lets vibe.
Naielle Odelia (DND 5E - Celestial Warlock)
Artificer - Probably Alchemist, due to the healing benefits suiting her. The alternative would be Artillerist, leaning into the Sylvian army's use of firearms.
Barbarian - lord. uh. christ. Ancestral Guardian or Storm Herald, depending on vibes. Storm Herald would particularly be doing Sea environment. AG has more of the support vibe im used to for her.
Bard - Lore. Lore. It's Lore. she's a fucking historian, of course its Lore.
Cleric - Light Cleric. I'd say Knowledge but her campaign has a knowledge cleric and its not quite the vibe.
Druid - Stars. Without question or contest.
Fighter - Arcane Archer. Can't really justify that i just think it suits her alright. she doesn't fit str-based builds like rune knight
Monk - Astral Self, OR Sun Soul. But probably Astral Self. i know thats not astral as in stars but its got the vibe for me.
Paladin - Devotion or Watchers. Paladins get so little in the way of subclass stuff tha its not that big a thing, but i think those are in her vibe space.
Ranger - Horizon Walker. yea.
Rogue - Inquisitive, or maybe Phantom.
Sorcerer - Divine Soul.
Warlock - Celstial (thats just canon)
Wizard - ,,, euuhhhh. Abjuration or Evocation. Maybe Conjuration.
Florian de Kasimir (TWTRPG - Man-at-Arms)
Artificer - Armorer. yeah. sure.
Barbarian - Berserker
Bard - Swords, or possibly Valor. Mostly Swords, though. he did strictly learn fencing at one point, which feels on brand
Cleric - War. yeaahh
Druid - oh god. uhhhhhh. this ones tough. Moon or Wildfire. Leaning Wildfire.
Fighter - Samurai. This is not the intuitive pick for him (that would be Champion, or BattleMaster), but i think it works for him. he's a very honorable sort. (this is his 5e conversion)
Monk - hmmmmm. Kensei, probably. Drunken Master, maybe.
Paladin - A couple of options here. Crown, Redemption, or Vengeance. I lean lightly to the latter two, and maybe specifically Redemption for certain thematic reasons
Ranger - Hunter. dunno what to tell ya
Rogue - ah, the stealthiest man alive. Swashbuckler. Maybe Scout, but probably Swashbuckler. just hit them.
Sorcerer - oh boy. Pure magic classes are complicated to assign to this guy (noted as the sole non-magic guy in his campaign by the end). Storm or Wild.
Warlock - NOT Hexblade, funnily enough. Undying. I've explored this before.
Wizard - see sorc. uhhhhhh Bladesinging, Evocation, or War. this is an awful class choice for him though
Zimri Maier (PF 1E - Magus)
Artificer - Battle Smith
Barbarian - Storm Herald
Bard - Notwithstanding the fact Charisma is Zimri's dump stat, Swords or Lore
Cleric - Knowledge. or Arcana or Tempest
Druid - not their vibe at all, which is weird for someone who turns into a bird. Land, either Forest or Mountain.
Fighter - Eldritch Knight OR Psi Warrior
Monk - ???? uhhh Four Elements or Kensei
Paladin - Glory, i think. Hard to say.
Ranger - ????? Beast Master? Hunter? Monster Slayer? truly unknowable.
Rogue - Arcane Trickster, or Inquisitive. maaaaaybe Soulknife
Sorcerer - Storm or Wild. Have i mentioned zimri does lightning magic
Warlock - Great Old One or Hexblade
Wizard - Bladesinging (Their 5e conversion uses this)
Devin Ellir (DND 5E - Inquisitive Rogue/Whispers Bard*)
Artificer - You've no idea how mad I am that Alchemist doesnt do poisons. truly, what the fuck. why isnt there a poison based artificer subclass. anyway, Artillerist.
Barbarian - lord. uh. Ancestral Guardian or Totem Warrior (Eagle)
Bard* - Whispers :) Despite the order listed above, this is actually her higher-level class, she's just a rogue first for reasons. (*She never actually hit a high enough level to use Whispers features)
Cleric - Trickery or Death.
Druid - oh boy. Spores or Moon, i think. Spores has a Vibe to it.
Fighter - uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . Psi Warrior, Eldritch Knight, or Echo Knight, in that order.
Monk - Long Death or Shadow.
Paladin - Conquest or Glory.
Ranger - Gloom Stalker or Fey Wanderer. I like the fey for her more theatrical vibes, and gloom for her machination shit
Rogue* - Inquisitive! That's canonc (*She never hit a high enough level to use any of the inquis features, lmao)
Sorcerer - Aberrant Mind or Shadow Magic! I like Aberrant, that seems fun. is her vibe coming across yet
Warlock - ooooh. great question. so many suit her here. Archfey or Great Old One, ill say. Maybe Geenie (Efreeti).
Wizard - I hate assigning Wizard subclasses. Enchantment or Illusion.
There are others (Calvyre Dusthar, a 5E Echo Knight/Trickery Cleric, or Viorica Dalca, a PF2E Spirit Instinct Barbarian) but at this point they got played only 3 or so times and its harder to define. waaa.
anyway out of that, most popular subclasses from my group at Artillerist Artificer, Ancestral Guardians + Storm Herald Barbarian, Lord + Swords Bard, no Cleric (no subclass more than once!!), Moon Druid, Eldritch Knight or Psi Warrior Fighter, Kensei Druid, Glory Paladin, Hunter Ranger, Inquisitive Rogue (with 3! wow), Storm + Wild Magic Sorcerer, Great Old One Warlock, and Evocation + Bladesinging Wizard. fun! :)

ramping up to start an armour astir advent campaign soon!! (PBTA system about GIANT MECHS)
here is my giant-slayer scout! her name is TBD but i’m thinking like, June, Dove or Kim? Mickey? a friend looked at her stats and said “himbo?” and he was right
[ID: two sketch pages filled with drawings of the same woman and some tech gadgets. there is a colored drawing of a young white woman with a red-brown ponytail. she wears baggy yellow jumpsuit with the sleeves tied at her waist and a dark blue camisole, and stands confidently, a red helmet under her arm. another shows her in the same jumpsuit with tall brown boots and a dark safety vest, from which orange tubes extend to each of her hands; one in a blaster cannon, one in a large gauntlet. there are black & white sketches of the helmet, a tech-looking backpack, a blaster cannon, the woman with her arms crossed over the back of a chair, and the woman, visibly bruised, looking vexed. in the top middle is a table labelled “stats” with the following statistics: defy at +3, clash at +2, sense at +1, talk at -1, know at -2, and channel at 0.]

2, 5, 14, 17!!!
2. What’s your favorite ttrpg system?  Which other ones have you tried?
ATM it’s definitely FFG’s Narrative Dice system. Not because of the dice (*gasp*) but because of everything else. It’s an intricately balanced system with a lot of really clever tricks that has a to me very satisfying amount of crunch without ever becoming obnoxious.
I’ve played, oof, a lot of systems. I don’t think I remember them all, but  the major ones aaaare Call of Cthulhu & Hexer von Salem, Storyteller System (primarily Vampire the Masquerade), D&D (from AD&D to 5th), Pathfinder, Kult, Fading Suns, Deadlands, Earthdawn, Das Schwarze Auge, Battlelords, BESM, Westend Star Wars, Legend of the 5 Rings, Cyberpunk 2020, Shadowrun, FFG Star Wars and of course my own game All Things Cast. There were a few years where my partner and I would check out all kinds of different systems but never get proper groups going, and there were other systems that we played maybe one or two games in that didn’t leave enough of an impression on me.
I also LARP’d an itty bit with different systems.
5. Tell me about your most recent OC!
If we’re talking most recent character I’m playing in a game, that would be Voi Oruka in FFG Star Wars. Voi is a Nautolan and the only son of the leader of Glee Anselm’s leading criminal empire Riptide. Raised as a good and proper Young Boss, he accidentally A Forcepower and once he realises it is that, he takes it as a sign that he’s supposed to do more with his life than become a mafia boss. So he runs away to learn about the Force and about his purpose. Also, the life of a crime boss sucks and he doesn’t wanna. Voi is headstrong and likes stabbing and punching, and his view on life and ethics is just a tad screwy due to his upbringing but he’s a good egg at heart who just wants to do something meaningful with his gift.
If we’re talking most recent character who may one day be in a game (once I finished writing it), that’s Yukiro. Yukiro is first general of a clan that once existed to fight a terrifying demon horde, won, and then didn’t know what to do with themselves, so they instead devoted their lives to a rivalry with a once allied clan. But now the demon lord is coming back, and they gotta find more allies to fight him once more, so Yukiro goes out into the world to scout himself some badasses. Yukiro is a soft boy who’s really into theatre and music, and is kind and gentle to most people, but for the sake of his clan (and the world) he puts on the air of a typical strong, reserved samurai most of the time.
14. Tell me about a piece of impressive game mastering you’ve witnessed!
Look, most game mastering is really impressive! As a GM myself, I know very well how much work goes into it, how difficult it is to keep up with your players, how many goddamn spoons it takes to be both prepared and flexible, to think of adventures and NPCs and places and voices and plot points and the PCs’ strengths and weaknesses and desires and the players’ strengths and weaknesses and desires, to learn the system and adjust the system and game the system and improvise rules you forgot and provide the mood and the atmosphere and the materials and *BREATHES* game mastering is impressive by virtue of being game mastering, and I appreciate the absolute fuck out of all the people willing to sit in that chair again and again and give their all so that their friends can just... enjoy themselves. (Asshole GMs excluded of course.)
17. What’s something you think you could improve about the way you play tabletop RPGs?
I need to stop trying to control everything. I’m not sure if it’s a habit that comes from somewhere inside me, a sign of trust issues or if it’s a side-effect of many years of playing with very passive players which put me into a constant instigator position that I now can’t let go of, but it’s not making for a better game or table for me to always have to have the reigns. I also would like to not laugh at my own jokes quite so much. It’s obnoxious and I never plan to, but as soon as I sit down... Things to work on.

Hey, do you have any stories from the Endless Space TTRPG you were in? I found your Umbral Choir OC while trying to look up guides to playing them and it sounds like it would be really cool to hear about!
Oh hell yeah, I got stories!! God, that campaign was really fun. I played a character named Laurence Verity—a lawyer who is lawful good to the core and led a galactic revolution against a fascist dictator—for the majority of that campaign, tho for Story Reasons he needed to spend some time away from the party, so I came in with my Umbral Choir character and played as her.
Farela Legato is a scout/spy for the Umbral Choir. She was tasked with keeping watch over the party after they first ran into the Umbral Choir. After all, the Umbral Choir had not made their presence known and now three very well-connected individuals know about them. Farela obviously couldn’t be too conspicuous though, that would undermine the whole point. So she stole a simple robot, one that had yet to be programmed. She slipped inside (the GM ruled that the Umbral Choir are gaseous and largely amorphous, which is dope as HELL) and piloted the robot for herself. And thus her cover was born.
For the majority of my time playing as her, Farela pretended to be Glitch, a happy-go-lucky robot that knows very little about the ways of anyone and suddenly woke up with full sapience one day. The party was quickly endeared by the fact that she was Baby and took her under their wings. It was VERY fun to see everyone get very attached to someone who didn’t exist.
Farela mostly gathered information on the party, stuck with them and acted as a friend (keyword here is “act”). She did do some fun other stuff (she broke into a moon base and stole tons of information about a super-advanced AI while the rest of the party was setting off illegal fireworks). She was... vaguely fond of the party. Enough that she wanted them to do well and liked them, but wouldn’t have really mourned them for longer than an hour or so.
The party never caught on. Not until Farela willingly revealed herself and joined back up with the Umbral Choir. They were very betrayed.
Farela herself is cool and reserved, albeit easily irritated. She’s deadpan and serious most of the time, a true professional. She’s not intentionally cruel, though she can be VERY blunt when she’s not in Spy Mode. Very careful in what she does, yet flippant when she’s confident. Very hard to genuinely anger her, but when you do, know that your days are numbered.
