If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

Rikki would say platonic love is being comfortable on a boat stuck out in the marsh all day, slightly buzzed lying on the deck as the sun bakes your skin and you laugh so hard about absolutely nothing. Familial love is being willing to follow someone to the ends of the earth no matter how crazy their plan because you know they'd do the same for you. And romantic love... Is a boy with sun kissed skin, golden hair, and a wild look in his eye who's been knocked down too many times by the world but always stands up for the things he believes in.

Why do they get up in the morning? 

Because the waves are EPIC

How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)? 

She gets REAL catty. Girl is NOT afraid to throw down if somebody makes a move on her man.

How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)? 

Acts like she doesn't care but quietly seethes

 Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom? 

She's tries to at least be comfortable talking about it with the person she's doing it with.

 What are their thoughts on marriage? 

She definitely wants to get married one day but unlike SOME PEOPLE *coughcough* John B and Sarah *cough* she's fine with waiting a while.

 What is their preferred mode of transportation? 

It all depends where she's going. On the island, she prefers her bike. On the mainland, she's fine being in a car long enough to get as far as Nashville. Any further and she likes trains or plans if she's saved enough money. She's always up for any kind of boat ride.

 What causes them to feel dread? 

The thought of anything bad happening to her friends or her sister.

YAY, YOU WATCHED THE MOVIE!! What did you like about it? Any favorite scenes or character moments? Did you cry at any point?

The non-spoiler review: the entire movie is eye-candy. You can really tell the crew went all out and I appreciate them. It was 9/10 an amazing movie that I plan on re-watching.

I was ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC when Hypno and Warren showed up to inadvertently cause a minor apocalypse. 10/10 blessed ✨

I also love how Rise takes villains like the Shredder and the Kraang and turns the dial all the way to 100000, making them terrifying and feral and omg I’m pretty sure there’s a de-th count in this movie 😱 the reactions this movie pulled from me were wild. Like these monsters are NOT messing around!

There are so many little details scattered throughout the movie. The whole thing was my favorite scene. I didn’t cry but I did feel +5 emotional when Mikey started to cry while trying to activate his magic hands towards the end of the movie.

Also—regarding OCs—There’s a 75% chance that Future Kraang infested Earth timeline Rikki is deceased. BUT 2 years into the Future Rikki isn’t lol. In fact, I have a rough concept of what her timeskip outfit looks like!

How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?

she just gets rikki to help her obviously!!!! isn’t that why you get married at all??? she complains about anything and rikki’s like Don’t Worry Baby I Got This. she can’t scratch an itch?? don’t worry he can reach it. can’t open a bottle? just give it to him, piece of cake. she remembered some objective fact wrong? he will reshape reality so she is correct😤

If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

i feel like i’m way more interested in the context she’d be asked this??? but that’s a whole other thing i guess. i’m reminded of the notion that people wear masks in their day-to-day lives, and the masks differ depending on who you’re interacting with. i think she relates to that sentiment a lot; i think she feels like has to have a lot of masks. and i also think her answer would change depending on when in her life she’s asked it, because i feel like her definition of romantic love changed the day she fell for rikki. platonic and familial love feel quite similar for her, in that there is a genuine connection and bond there, but even then she still has secrets. she still has something to hide behind. but romantic love…romantic love with rikki is different, because she feels like she doesn’t need a mask at all. it’s like a missing piece was finally found and she can just be herself and it’s a wild feeling for her.

though unfortunately if we’re talking canon-compliant scenarios…….as time goes on i think the mask starts to come back, at least partway.

How sensitive are they to their own flaws?

i think it takes her a long time to really come to terms with the fact that her flaws are flaws at all. and once she figures that out she’s just like. well shit. what are we supposed to do now.

that’s a major reason why she separates from rikki right before sobertown in canon, because she needs time to reflect on herself and her own problems.

OC Questions: What’s your place in your peer group?

- Sasha/Grisha/Nadya: Grisha’s more of the ‘leader’ type with Sasha as his ride or die co-pilot. Nadya is their one functioning brain cell who tells them if an idea is too bad and hey guys, maybe we shouldn’t do this terrible idea.

- Rikki/Francis/Ian/Jack/Nika (brotp The Nomads): Rikki is very overpowering, she is the boss and if she isn’t she makes herself the boss. She and Ian clash hard over this because he hates being bossed around and he also likes to be in charge of things. Francis is super chill and laid back. Or so everyone thinks. In actuality, he gets very anxious and is more of a follower. While Jack and Nika tend to get annoyed with Rikki and Ian’s bickering and do their own thing with Francis typically joining them.

-  Ravdí/Maddie: They’re super close almost like siblings and are constantly having sleepovers. Maddie is the ray of sunshine, easy to pick on because she’s ‘quirky’ and self conscious about her weight. Ravdí is the fighter, doesn’t even blink if she feels the she needs to defend Maddie and isn’t afraid of getting into trouble. This is the duo that if something bad happens, you automatically look at Ravdí; Maddie could be holding a smoking gun and people would just tell her “Maddie don’t touch that! It might have fingerprints of the shooter on it!”

- Vasya/Nika: The chillest of the chill because neither really cares about a particular role and they just do their own thing. Friends since they were kids and still friends even onwards. Both loyal to a fault and always there if needed but not overbearingly so. Goals.

- Marie/Vasya: Marie is the ambition, the driving force behind a lot of their ideas. Once she gets in her head to do something, she does it and drags anyone she needs to into the idea. Vasya is the anxiety since Marie has been known to ‘fly off the handle’ and get some wild ideas. 

- Richard/Honor: Both terrible in a sense as they are vindictive and bossy. Needless to say though, Honor is typically the leader and makes decisions. Richard just goes with it since he doesn’t want to argue; ie: she once beat him up as kids and he doesn’t want a repeat of the incident. He talks a lot of smack but doesn’t ever follow through.

- Lucy/Dani: True goals. Perfect. No roles, they’re both the leader and both the follower. If one gets an idea, they both follow through with it regardless of consequences. Add in Vasya or Honor to be the one common sense brain cell. Honor is better at this than Vasya though as Vasya typically shrugs and “This seems like a bad idea. Maybe we shouldn’t... but you two are already doing it so guess I am too.”

- Taka/Alexei/Jamie/Peyton: The group of morons, the odd friends. Jamie is the leader, bossy and likes to be in charge. Peyton is the mom friend. Taka is confused follower of whoever is in charge. Alexei is the master shitposter, he is a walking, talking, breathing meme. They’re all so different from each other and often times people wonder how they manage to stay friends. Peyton and Jamie alone are literally ‘with friends like these who needs enemies?’

- Jack/Darla: Jack is the follower. Darla is the mom friend while also being the leader. And really, it doesn’t matter which group she’s with, Darla is always the mom friend. Platonic life partners. 

- Alexei/Toly/Andrey: Two idiots, three brain cells. All brain cells belong to Andrey who suffers a massive headache as his brothers act like fools. The moment Alexei and Toly make contact it’s a game of ‘I can do this ridiculous thing better than you can!’ ‘Nuh uh!’ ‘Yeah huh!’ And Andrey begging them to please not do the stupid thing they are already doing. 

-  Adrian/Vasya: The ‘you are not alone’ trope. They’re there for each other. Not because they wanted to be at first but now they are and neither could imagine their life without the other.

- Nastya/Adrian: Nastya is bossy and in charge. Adrian is a quiet follower. They hate each other but deal with one another, another fine example of with friends like these... But unlike Jamie and Peyton, Nastya and Adrian actually fully hate each other and just play nice.

- Yuriko/Vera/Liliya/Shauna/Briana: Mafia moms. In one way or another each woman has dealt with growing up around the mafia. They are fiercely protective of their friends and family and would do literally anything to protect them. If you anger one of these women by hurting their child, run. Vera is the leader. But Yuriko doesn’t like listening to her and prefers to do things her way. Shauna is much the same. Liliya just enjoys causing chaos. Briana is a follower. An odd ensemble of women. 

- Jack/Richard: Reluctant friends. Richard has kind of weaseled his way into being friends with everyone and no one has the heart to actually mean telling him to get lost. He’s just that annoying friend. He’s obnoxious and arrogant (much like Ian), Jack just has to sigh and roll his eyes and take it in stride and go with it.

Dark’s childhood was when he was created, about six years ago. Other than Mark trying to literally exercise him out of his house with a priest and everything, things were pretty okay.    42. I wanted that to mirror how technology advances and whatnot. Dark is kinda like an old man, stuck in his ways.  44. How do they speak? oof, there are quite a few so bear with me

johanna quick & jesse talbot // setting: the wild west // u: the wild hunt

johanna’s birth name is johanna rae dearborn, but seeing as she’s on the run from her uncle and her dad and their plans for her, she goes by johanna quick. (her mother’s dead, named clementine dearborn. she was a witch of sorts and taught jo a lot about that sort of thing.) jo hates hand guns and prefers blunt objects or her mother’s old rifle she still carries around.

jesse oliver talbot doesn’t remember his birth parents but was adopted by a saloon owner named shirley talbot. shirley already had two kids, retta and alcee, but all three of them welcomed jesse with open arms. (i haven’t drawn jes yet but his inspiration draws from booboo stewart.)(also don’t look at me like that, i couldn’t get myself to let go of the name jesse. it’s grown on me.) he and johanna grew up together and after shirley’s saloon is burned down by folks who think she ought’ve left jesse to the desert, he flees with johanna to hunt them down.

their story also incorporates a western version of “the wild hunt”, a european folk myth. 

rhiannon majors & ida gust // setting: pacific northwest // u: from the fog

yet another pair of ocs interacting with the unknown and paranormal! rhiannon is mostly based off of the song rhiannon by fleetwood mac. she’s essentially a demigod, child of the goddess hecate and a human woman. her main ability is to disappear and travel through shadow as well as being able to teleport via crossroads. she’s very free-floating and a ridiculously carefree spirit. she’s hard to pin down and even harder to get to cooperate, unless it’s something she wants to do/get/etc. trouble also follows her around like nobody’s business and most who do know her can’t really blame whatever that trouble is- she’s very bright and inviting even when not intending to be. there’s a natural draw or glamour around her. 

ida gust is one of the few people not unnaturally drawn to her, and is therefore rhiannon’s best friend. ida has always been scientifically minded about the things unknown to most of mankind, and has a collective knowledge of mythologies and religions from across the world. at first she’s really just along for the ride with rhiannon whenever trouble hits. but then there’s a prophecy involved, as is the case with most demifolk, and ida is essentially connected by that fabled red string to rhiannon.

circe & soraya // setting: misc // u: to be determined

presumed antagonists that are actually antihero side characters within nellie cain’s story! (which, yes, cain’s tale has not only assumed angels but also sirens, sphinxes, manticores, chimera, and much much more!)(well. the angel idea was cool but i may be playing around with other ideas too.)

circe is your standard sphinx who will riddle or question anyone who crosses her path, and if incorrect, she’ll eat said person or creature. she much prefers men (often of the cis and/or straight variety) but will follow tradition and eat anyone. she’s ridiculously clever and there are rumors that she was the sphinx in the oedipus tale- making her not only clever, but ancient. however she values honor and morality and rights and such, and won’t go out of her way to purposefully trick someone unless she senses true wickedness. she also shows her humility and vulnerability around nellie, who stumps the sphinx, and therefore earns circe’s trust and companionship whenever she is called upon.

soraya is a manticore and essentially circe’s girlfriend. most manticore tend to be male- soraya was the same, but transitioned after becoming solitary and leaving her old pride. she still has her mane (much like maned lionesses) and refuses to let it be cut. initially from persia (and what is now iran), she travels through portals with circe allowing the duo anywhere in the world. soraya much prefers livestock to human as far as eating goes but won’t hesitate if threatened. she’s quieter than circe (because circe treats most things like a performance- most things except when she and soraya are alone together) and essentially the baze to circe’s chirrut. soraya is protective of rikki, nellie’s companion and friend, and takes rikki as her charge by the end of their story.

My OC Chiyo loves adventure stories, and long ago her mother gave her a comic book from the human world that became her absolute favorite: a story about a brave samurai rabbit who would later inspire the young yokai to be a hero ;) Chiyo has also read Watership Down, the book about wild rabbits and their struggle to survive, and she actually really liked it despite the very graphic nature of the book lol

Rikki’s access to literature growing up was super limited thanks to her mother’s strict guidelines as to what her children were allowed to read. She read newspapers, manuals, and study books—& nothing sourced from the Hidden City or the Human world—strictly Spirit World related materials. Her mother believed anyone outside the Spirit World was inferior. Nice lady, Rikki’s mom (🙄).

It wasn’t until her college days in the Hidden City that Rikki discovered so many new and exciting things to read! & She’ll read anything: from picture books to lengthy non-fiction hardcovers.

If you ask her to read a stack of comics with you, she’s game. But above all, she loves a good mass market paperback. It could be about anything but those are her favorites (mostly because their smell reminds her of her Grunkle).
