i just wanted to provide some thoughts on the harper and rosé one first bc its important to me 😌 cus i was thinking abt harper and how in my head and heart of hearts she would be the kid who thought you get pregnant from kissing and i dont think she ever really grew out of that belief. <- this ended up spawning the idea of harper being a sex-repulsed ace and i will die on this hill actually. fight me or die, you die either way actually nvm

Florence Evergreen is Cassius' wife and the mother of Sireva. She grew up with three siblings: an older brother and two younger sisters. She is a kind and headstrong woman who often serves as the voice of reason to her husband, especially on matters pertaining to his wavering relationship with his little brother, Izaya.

Kaelin Elias Harper was the third son and last born child of his family; all his siblings viewed him as the "baby" of the family. A known animal shifter (like most members of House Harper), he was capable of turning into a golden falcon. He served as a guard to his cousin Avalynn upon her marriage to Prince Kyllen, and later on served as her son's guard and mentor. He played a pivotal role in the reclamation of the Fayburian throne from the Mirian empire.

Rhistel Lathan Ryder was Bemere, Alexander, and Keya's father. He served as a guard to the Mirian royal family and was a good friend to Prince Radan. He was an only child and grew up to be a kind and gentle man, though his parents’ emotional distance caused him to struggle at times when connecting to his own children.

I know OC posts generally don’t do well on tumblr, but here’s my little horror OC William in time for Halloween. Lore below

William Harper Jones was born to an alcoholic mother and a father who never knew. When he's ten years old his mother commits suicide and he's sent to live on his aunts farm, his aunt breeds rabbits, little white rabbits and as William comes of age he develops an absolute obsession with these rabbits, he sees them everywhere, he can't get them out of his head. He thinks they know something he doesn't. He goes on to study forensics at a young adult and makes a singular friend in college, she's offput by his fixation but pities him and she's lonely too.

As Williams sanity plunges he decides he needs to do something, while his aunt is away he returns to her farm and kills the rabbits, every single one. As she returns home to find a paddock full of blood, her beloved nephew standing blank eyed on the grass William decides to do something in his far from clear mental state to do something drastic, in fear he kills his aunt, he uses his studies to cover it up perfectly. He discovers that the feeling of doing something like this is the only thing that can make the rabbits go away, just for a while.

He kills two more, a young man hiking in the woods near the farm, and the elderly grandfather of a prominent lawyer based in the nearby town. Once again, he covers them up perfectly. His forensic knowledge only improving as he deletes all his traces. A year passes, he spends much of his time in nature now, but has managed to get a job at a private forensic facility. William needs a fourth body, that will end it all, an even number and the rabbits will leave him alone, but as he seeks out the unlucky man or woman he is greeted by a familiar, yet suddenly unfriendly face. It's his friend from college, she's had a personal project, she knows what he did. It's driving her almost as insane as he is. She isn't thinking straight. The two figures are on the side of a ravine, William with his back to her, he turns around, he shoots.

using the last of her strength Williams former ally pushes him, her body collapsing on the now blood soaked forest floor. William is falling, he sticks his left arm out, his right fingers stuck to his gun as if he can't move them, watching himself hurtle towards the rapids below, he hits the rocks. It all goes black.

William wakes up in hospital, everything hurts. He doesn’t want to move. His brain is foggy, the pain is unbearable. The damage is irreversible. After a lengthy period of time recovering but never quite from his ‘accident’ William returns to work, he will never be who he was before. He's died and been reborn, a new person. The first day he walks into the laboratory, limping, cane in hand and decommissioned arm in sling. He sees a folder on his desk. "K. Jackson, cold case". It’s her. this is his punishment, this is his final show of karma. She will not let him forget

In the end he knows that she would have wanted to punish him, but instead of prison he feels he needs to cover it up and simply live with the guilt of what he did unable to tell anyone, it's just what she would have wanted. And so William becomes a hermit, unsure if he can ever be redeemed.

hi i was wondering, i’ve been getting into writing lately, and i wanted to know, how do you decide on how to characterize your dc characters? i feel like you do such an amazing job and characterizing them all but when i try to write i can’t help but feel like I’m not quite doing them justice 😭

hiiii first of all thank you SO much for saying that you are too kind <333 also know that i am constantly trying to find my footing with that because it really can be so difficult.

and tbh.. hmm all i can really recommend is doing reading for whichever characters you’re interested in. for tim i did sooooo much reading and to be fair a lot of that reading was for a big oc project i had planned which has now been put on hold… unfortunately… and the fics i have for him were then practice to get into it since i felt like i was at a good point to start.

writing is also something i would recommend in conjunction with it, like build a foundation, then start writing, and adjust from there! i’ll be the dangerous ledge was really me finding my footing for his character and in circle k i felt like i finally had a solid grasp on him ^_^

but i also know the prospect of following reading guides can be intimidating… if you’re going for the bats, there are guides that showcase a general view which might be easier to get into.

like no man’s land, while a massive event, was pretty solid in terms of batfam representation (well, og batfam without jason and duke and damian). but there’s also gates of gotham, which is a little more ‘modern’ and just four issues and features some really great dick, damian, tim, and cass!!! also bruce wayne: murderer?/fugitive and batman: contagion!

team comics can also help i think so that might be something to look for? young justice (1998) is a lot of fun if you’re leaning into tim, there’s probably something with the teen titans for dick but i can’t speak too much on him. and like birds of prey for babs, that kind of thing!

there’s this guide i’ve mentioned for the batfam that has a general section for the batfam then breaks down by character. i also have a reading guide tag with some random characters, i think i have like, supergirl/kara danvers, roy harper, talia al ghul, wally, etc.

@lornahs also has a bunch of reading guides for a whole slew of dc characters that are also a little easier to approach too! for the flashfam and superfam and arrowfam (there are probably many others i am forgetting rn) i personally don’t have much for that (and you could find stuff for them on that blog i think)… though i will say, regardless of who you’re interested in, you can still glean a lot of information about others even in individually-focused comics ^_^ and wiki is useful here and there too! a small shortcut i wouldn’t recommend you lean too heavily on is basing characterizations off fics just because that can get.. tricky. i mean ultimately you can do what you’d like but personally!!! i try to stay away from that and stick to canon! some influences are okay but. it’s a balance. you know

another thing, with canon, is i would honestly recommend pre-flashpoint appearances. new-52 and rebirth can be tricky. tim was like, an entirely different person in new-52 and people hated it so much that when they did rebirth (well there were many reasons for another reboot and ooc-ness in Many Characters was a large factor) they restored him to his original origins. but also the tim in the rebirth now is just….. Hngh.

almost all of my characterizations are based on pre-flashpoint canon basically. dgmw the writing can be bad and so can the politics but idk i’m not fond of rebirth/modern comics LMAO so it’s a little like the lesser of two evils??? either way i’m definitely biased but this is what i do!

with this and lots and lots of practice (even if it’s not good!! maybe especially if it’s not good because you can look at it and see where to improve!!), that’s the best way to get into it i think!!!

Vā-Kā is this kinda NZ K-pop group / band I made way back in lockdown, which was 4 years ago, and have since then been thinking about sm (along with all my other 100+ OC's but shh I'll talk about em in another post maybe lolz)

I created them because I was really bored and sad, and it was like, "mm wonder if there's like an NZ K-Pop group... imma make my own for funsies 😈😈😈"

It was supposed to be like a one-off thing, but they turned into this v real thing I could pull off when I'm older and have more experience with art, like I'm literally crying inside because the edits I could animate?? the music?? the unofficial photoshoots?? them in general?? so many ideas are crammed in my head fr

There's 8 members overall, 6 girls and 2 dudes, and they're all best friends turned band / K-pop group turned lovers (cause I'm a sucker for friends to lovers fr)

It's kinda like a K-Pop group but not really it's like.. looser. Idk

I will post proper art of them eventually, but I'm so worried about like repping em wrong since like 7 members are POC, and even tho I'm POC, I'm feeling like I'd do something wrong so yeah

Tori is the oldest of the group and is one of the main leaders (the group doesn't really have leaders, but they all follow her and Kora since they both have the most level heads about shit.). She's introverted and a bit motherly, except its kinda like she'll nip you around the ears if you don't listen to her fr.

It always feels like she's the one who knows what to do because of how organized she is. She seems to plan out everyones schedule without their permission, even if it comes from a good place.

However, she follows through with the promises she makes every time, and actively tries to own up to whatever wrongdoings either her or her group cause, while watching out for the groups safety because she cares and loves them all so much, even if she doesn't say it enough like she'd want to.

Dyslexic so often she'll record her notes through voice messages or voice-to-text to make it easier. Otherwise, Kora will note the stuff down when they're in meetings n stuff

Diana's a smartie seems so very cold and somewhat distant to the public because of how harsh and blunt her remarks come off as.

Their fandom + her group know that she isn't at all like that and that she has trouble communicating her feelings properly. She loves to talk about space and / or the ocean (it changes each day), makes clothes for group sometimes, does photography, and is actually a very soft and caring person, she just doesn't know how to express it properly sometimes.

It takes her a bit of a while to tho, and when she does, she puts in a lot of time and effort. On the inside, she's very expressive and ambitious, always eager to learn something new, and is encouraging her group with how she sticks constantly to one goal until she makes it without Diana realizing her effect.

Asher is v v quiet and soft-spoken, barely speaks up in the interview's or stuff the group has. Even though Asher's quiet most of the time, she's very perceptive and can often pick up on what others don't, making her a real good listener.

Is secretly a good cook + baker and sometimes plays piano pieces for the group or the fandom when she has the time on her solo livestreams. (I say secretly cause none of Vā-Kā let her into the kitchen. There's like... a 75% chance she'll set the entire thing on fire. Maybe. Probably.)

She's a very emotional kinda person, can kinda come off as being a bit sensitive even if she doesn't mean to get hurt. The fandom + members compare her voice to like an angels because of how like soft and gentle it sounds. It helps some of their fans, n tbh Asher loves being able to inspire their fandom even if she doesn't involve herself as much as she would like to.

Most honest person in the group tho, will not be afraid to call you out on your shit. You lie to him, he will wrestle ur ass off that high horse in a second (he inherited his mother's sass and attitude to a point ong)

“It’s over, it’s done, just leave it be,” Evelyn barely registered Djura’s voice as he firmly pried the gun from her hands. She didn’t even notice how hard she was gripping it, like a lifeline, an anchor that helped her keep the emotions from drowning her sanity; without it her eyes instead focused on the intricate carvings it left etched into the skin of her bloody palms. 

“It’s her blood. I can’t… I can’t believe she’s gone,” her voice was quiet and breathy, she hated that so much of her emotions slipped through but had no strength to hold them back. “She said she’d be fine, and I trusted her like fool, without even checking up on her injuries. And she was bleeding so much, she was sitting in a pool of her own blood by the time I got out and was in pain and tired, and–”

A heavy hand settled onto her shoulder. It wasn’t as comforting as she needed it to be, but it was warm and it cut the unintelligible chatter of her guilty thoughts short for which she was thankful for.

“It’s not your fault, kid. She knew the risks and had a long night behind her,” Djura nodded firmly as he turned his gaze from her to Old Yharnam below them. “I’m sure she’d tell you to get it together and continue the hunt. A hunter must hunt, and all that,” he shook his head dismissively. 

Evelyn felt her heart clench at those words. Who would’ve thought she’d ever miss hearing them in that peculiar accent she’d never even heard before. And she will never hear it again. That bitter thought kept plaguing her. For who knows which time tonight, she felt sick to the stomach. What a cruel fucking joke this whole thing has been, Evelyn thought, hopefully it’s been a fun show for whatever heartless god that’s been watching.

“Take your gun,” Djura offered the cold metal back to her “You cannot stay here and mope forever. Hunters come and they go, they have their purpose until they don’t.”

He was right and to the point as he always was. Evelyn was silent for a moment before taking the gun and nodding carefully. Her other hand went into the pocket of her coat. The Crow Hunter badge. For a fraction of a second, she thought of offering it to Djura - who better to hunt crazed, dangerous hunters than himself? But she dismissed it almost immediately. His job was down here, in Old Yharnam, among the beasts. He wouldn’t take it. Besides, it was given to her, it was a goodbye gift meant for her eyes only. At once a question and an order, a new purpose and a well familiar warning.

Evelyn squeezed the badge, relishing the feel of cool metal on her skin as she slithered through the foggy streets of Old Yharnam. I know, Eileen, I know… You’ve taught me well… But have I ever listened to your warnings?
