Ideas that first popped into my mind when certain OCs came to exist… Neri: it's a show about pirates, there's GOT to be a mermaid Niara: I want a character that uses a devil fruit mmmh what about plants/flowers (strangely enough, none of my pokemon oc's ever cared much about the grass type lol) Azura: I want a cool sword fighting lady Cordelia: I want a hot fierce type of character that looks good in black and that doesn't take anyone's crap Ellaria: came into the picture much later, I only recently decided somewhat on her looks, only things I know for sure is pale green eyes and can sort of see the future. Might never make it into any kind of story but she popped into my mind so here we go. Ginny: falls into the category "looks cute but can probably kill you".

Continuing my Monster School idea, what's a school without teachers and staff?

These are obviously not ALL the staff and some of their designs are potentially subject to change, but these are the ones I wanted to showcase first, mainly consisting of the core curriculum teachers and a pair that I just happen to like a lot.

Headmaster Edward Winters: The first, last and only headmaster of the school. He was headmaster of the school since its founding, but he died of old age somewhere along the line. Refusing to abandon his students, Headmaster Winters remained in the school as a ghost, and has no intention of passing on to the next life. He's a friendly guy, if a little scatterbrained from old age.

Professor Vladimir Ozkan: A vampire (specifically a Strigoi) who teaches mathematics at the academy, as a nod to how vampires are said to be good with numbers. Like most math teachers, he's tough but fair and generally tends to be one of the more level-headed members of the faculty.

Professor Aldrich Wiltshire: A lich who teaches history. He was chosen as the history teacher because, as an immortal lich, he was there to see a lot of historical events throughout the years. That said, since liches tend not to be the most morally upstanding creatures, Professor Wiltshire's views on history tend to be a bit more... warped.

Professor Cassandra Birgitta: A witch who teaches magic at the school. Like most witches, she specializes in potions, but she teaches all sorts of magic to her students, as all monsters and even some humans have magical potential. I was unsure as to whether or not I wanted to make her green, but it felt wrong to give her a "normal" skin tone.

Professor Briar Wood: Hey now, this guy looks familiar! Yes, I finally figured out what to do with Briar! If you're unfamiliar, Briar's an OC I made on a whim a while ago. He's a faerie and yes, he is, in fact, a man. He's the literature teacher, because fairy tales! Don't let the seemingly gentle look on his face fool you, he's a petty asshole.

Coach Finnian Svan: The physical education teacher of the school. He's a "wereswan", basically a human cursed to become a swan on the full moon. He's a pretty typical gym teacher, just kind of a big muscular tough guy with a heart of hold.

Professor Roswell: That's not his real name, but no one who isn't fluent in Zeta Reticulan can pronounce his actual name. He's the science teacher and he's a Zeta Reticulan ("Grey" alien). He's a bit of a mystery, even among the other staff members. He mostly keeps to himself.

Professor Proteus Metamorphosis: A mimic who teaches his students how to disguise themselves, be it using their natural abilities or more practical skills. After all, disguise is a necessary ability when the world doesn't approve of your existence. This isn't his real form, or even his most common form; like all mimics, he's a shapeshifter who can change his appearance at will.

Professor Cordelia Fontaine: A mermaid who teaches music at the school. I like to think she and Coach Svan have a thing going on. Her "hair" is actually a series of gill filaments (I was inspired by a mix of The Spiderwick Chronicles and axolotl gills). I'm not entirely satisfied with her colors or her fish tail.

Nurse Miasma: The mysterious school nurse. She always dresses like a plague doctor, though no one knows if she's a monster or a human under that mask. No one has ever seen her without her mask, and some doubt that it's a mask at all. Despite her extremely spooky appearance and behavior, she's a good person and a good nurse, and she genuinely cares about her patients.

I tend to use a lot of blue and bows and flowers for Cordelia.

Charlie also tends to have a lot of flowers and cat imagery. Bright colors too.

I think both Cordelia and Charlie like fantasy books.

Cordelia's least favorite color I think is black. She's got some bad memories associated with the color. I think she doesn't really like spicy foods

Charlie's least favorite color is grey because they think it's boring. I think their least favorite food is spinach because they don't like the texture.

Right now, my current muse is Cordelia Grey, my HP OC. The song that reminds me the most of her is the one that basically helped me create her:

peace by Taylor Swift.

Cordelia is paired up with Harry, and that whole song just SCREAMS them. The lyrics that spurred Cord’s creation was where Taylor sings “I talk shit with my friends, it’s like I’m wasting your honor”. Cord’s a Slytherin, and we all know about Gryffindor and Slytherin’s relationship with each other. In those beginning years, before Harry and Cord are close with each other, her friends would “talk shit” about him. Cord would participate, but she would feel guilty because she knows Harry is actually a good person.

There’s also “Family that I chose, now that I see your brother as my brother”. We all know that Harry and Ron consider themselves brothers, and when Cord becomes closer with them and Hermione, she in particular gets really close with Ron. Cord chose them as part of her makeshift Hogwarts family.

Really, peace is just Harry and Cordelia’s song.

A Story About That Family Member: cord lost her parents on her 11th birthday, which was also the day she learned she was a witch and so was her aunt drea. she fell into a depression after that, and drea would do anything to bring back her niece’s smile. so, on july 31st, she took her to diagon alley to get her supplies for hogwarts. it was the first time in a while that drea saw a smile on cord’s face

I guess since I'm doing this OC thing I'm going all out so I answered some OC questions I found (One Piece OCs)

I ended up picking only the questions that fit in their "universe", so there's bits and pieces from all of these questionaires.

How did you come up with the OC’s name? Neri: When I was young there was an australian show about a girl living in the ocean and her name was Neri. I took that and assuming it comes from Nerissa, it's the name of a nymph. Then I took the name Sirena from the Mako Mermaids show and her last name Kaiyo means ocean/sea Kaiyo Neri Sirena therefore sounds like a good name for a mermaid.^^ Niara: I wanted mostly names that could be associated with the ocean since this is a pirate show. Kaito means "the one flying over the sea" and Niara means "bright, clear water". Azura: Nagisa means seashore and Azura means sky blue. Cordelia: Cordelia means daughter of the sea. Yes, I looked up possible ocean themed names for all of them. Lady X and Lady Y don't have names yet. Lady X was called Vilandra in the first draft but I really don't like it. If she ever gets a name, I want it to be a longer one and kind of mysterious sounding... How old are they? (Or approximate age range) Neri: 18 Niara: 18 Azura: 30 Cordelia: 24 Lady X: no age yet but she would be the oldest Lady Y: maybe early twenties?

What is one of your OC’s worst memories? Neri: losing her entire family Niara: being forced to join the navy and then leaving her entire family behind to pursue her own dreams of freedom Azura: her parents being killed Cordelia: living in the streets as a kid on her own both Lady X and Lady Y have sad backstories too but they are not developed that much yet

Is their current design the first one? Neri: I think she had green eyes at first but then I decided on brown eyes. Actually, I couldn't decide on a design forever. Niara: Her hair is still long but not as way too long as it was in the first draft. Her hair went from ordinary brown to a lighter/slightly reddish maybe version (but still brown overall) and the newest addition are her freckles. Azura: Pretty much kept her design. Cordelia: Also kept her design. Lady X: I think she was a blonde at first. Black hair was also considered, then white, then grey, now it's maybe a really really pale blonde/maybe pale grey/white... idk something very pale though Lady Y: was still a blonde yesterday, now I'm thinking oooh but I have every haircolor now except red... xD Also, recently I accidentally added a scar on one of her picrews, so now I want her to have scars?

How many sibling does your OC have? Neri: it is mentioned that she had quite a few siblings since I image that fish people clans are quite big? She did not grew up on Fishman Island (because she was created before I started to read the Manga), so this probably was a separate community in the East Blue (where she met the Strawhats after being the only survivor after humans captured her entire family) Niara: I initially started with four or five but reduced them to three later on. At some point, Rear Admiral Hina was turned into an older sister of Niara XD Azura: She's an only child Cordelia: unknown since she doesn't remember anything and was found wandering around on her own, stealing from people as a kid Lady X: unknown, probably an only child Lady Y: unknown

What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? Neri: I imagine her bond with her parents was very close. Niara: She was close with her late mother but does not have a good relationship with her father at all. It didn't take him long to put a bounty on her head when he learned that she had become a pirate. Azura: she was close with her parents Cordelia: unknown Lady X: unknown Lady Y: unknown

Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC? Honestly, I never want to kill my OCs. The only one I could see dying is Lady X for noble reasons but it's highly unlikely that I will end up actually killing a character of mine

has there been any part of having this oc (designing, writing, drawing, etc...) that was difficult? Neri: she was the first One Piece OC so creating her was the hardest. I just didn't feel anything was right for her. Until bamm, all the puzzle pieces just fit. Niara: actually, she was the easiest Azura and Cordelia: not many problems Lady X: she hasn't even gotten a name yet Lady Y: she hasn't gotten a name or much of anything else really so...

Nickname? Neri: Nixie, although nobody called her that so far Niara: Nia, Nini Azura: - Cordelia: Cordy Lady X: lol she's not even named yet Lady Y: same here^^

What was your OC's childhood dream? Is that still their dream? Neri: to see the human world (she lives in it now but still has to much to see and experience) Niara: to be free and have adventures (she does that now but there's still so much to see and do) Azura: to be rich and powerful (those ambitions killed her parents, now she just wants to take those down who killed them) Cordelia: honestly, she was just trying to survive another day (now she wants to find out where she came from) Lady X: to be "normal" (now she embraces being different for the sake of a higher calling - and she would want to save the world - or maybe she's selfish and just want to see the ones she loves being safe) Lady Y: undecided

Were there expectations placed on your OC when they were growing up? Have they lived up to those expectations? Neri: stay away from humans (she failed...) Niara: join the navy and make a name for yourself, have a successful career and take down many pirates (she failed) Azura: marry rich and live a wealthy life (failed) Cordelia: she had no one when she was little Lady X: people were hoping to gain something from her powers, so she ran the first chance she got (another fail) Lady Y: undecided but will be a fail also

This is my first Court of Darkness fic, with my OC’s, and it will take some time but this is the first part of the story I have today. The princes have not been introduced yet but it is setting it up for their arrival.

Part 1

It was massive and bright, so bright that it made the air around it feel hotter and thicker than everywhere else. It stood tall, as high as the cities wall, and was as wide as ten men. The portal had appeared while Claudia was surveying the cities defenses, and she had immediately summoned the Black Guard to stand at ready. She herself stood at the front of her army, spear in hand, and waited, for she knew, eventually, something would attempt to make its way through.

The first of them stumbled through quite clumsily, in bizarre pink and white garments, and when they saw all of the soldiers’ weapons surrounding them, their golden eyes grew as wide as saucers, and they surrendered immediately.

“Creator! Don’t hurt us,” one of them bleated. “We were only sent as envoys! We—”

“Are trespassing in the city of Tuthen, of the great empire of Zaethis,” Claudia said. “Seize the intruders.”

No sooner had they been lifted by their arms and dragged away, when the portal spurted and out came more men, this time in black and red, with crimson eyes.

They merely blinked in disbelief and put up no fight when ordered to drop their weapons. They looked on her, the soldiers, and the city, as though they were in a wild dream.

She had hoped they were the last of the uninvited guests, but another small troupe fell through, with green and white garment. Then violet. Then cerulean.

“What in the-- The Black Guard will stay behind and keep watch for any more intruders. I am taking this lot back for questioning,” Claudia commanded, and left to inform the empress.  

 Saligia. Seven kingdoms, each ruled by their own king. The portal had seemingly opened at no accord, on their end as well, and each of the respected kings had sent envoys to gather intel. Every group of envoys had a similar story, so it was likely that it was the truth. But what did they want?

“W-we don’t k-know, Y-your Highness,” the ones in green stammered. “W-we are mere…f-footmen.”

“Liar,” Claudia said, and pointed her blade at their throat. When the man whimpered and closed his eyes, tears forming in the corners, she breathed a sigh of annoyance, sheathed it, and left.

Cordelia waited at the top of the dungeon stairs, her healers kit in hand, and looked exasperated at her sister approaching.

“Well,” she said. “What’s the damage? And please don’t tell me ‘minimal’. Is anyone dying immediately, and need I expect organs?”

“Three broken tibia, among them” Claudia responded. “Mostly broken fingers. The blood is minimal.”

“Impressive. They gave quite readily, then?” Lia mused. Claudia hummed in agreement.

“Grandmother should have a plan, I’m quite sure. If yet another war were to arise,” Claudia paused, but only for a moment. “She is keen to make sure it does not happen, and if they are our enemies, then they are dealt with. Swiftly.”

“Of course,” Lia said. “Mind you, I still want to make it to The Ivory later, so don’t do anything to spoil that for me, would you?”

“Priorities in place, as usual,” Claudia breathed, and continued on her way to the council chambers.

 The Empress, Hildegard Augustine Zaethis V, was a staunch woman of 80, and one would only suspect her age through grey hair and the slight appearance of wrinkles, alone. She looked rather daunting, sitting at the head of the council, and she made no effort to supplement her short height with any sort of heel or cushion. Her grey hair was plaited, ornately, as was custom, and fell past her hips. And beyond the slight lines of her face, one could only notice the heterochrome eyes, one a brilliant silver, and the other a vibrant amber. She had ruled the empire through the darkest of its days and brought it to prosperity at no small cost.

When Claudia told her grandmother the news of the portal, and the envoys that had fallen through, the look of fascination and subsequent alarm on her face was one the princess was not familiar with.

“What do you suggest we do with them, Grandmother?” Claudia asked. “I can give order to execute them and make efforts to close the portal as fast as possible.”

Hildegard swirled a glass chalice of wine in her hand and looked at her granddaughter with almost childlike excitement.

“No, my dear,” she said. “I think we shall meet our guests head on, as I suspect even if we killed their envoys, they would return. No. Question them more about their world and where they come from. We shall send them back with a message.” The empress sipped from her glass, and then peered at it thoughtfully. “And then, we shall introduce ourselves. Properly.”
