Ooh more on Cammie please why was he made to be miserable and what does "the show" refer to

SO GLAD YOU ASKED ok so first and foremost cammie is a dandy's world oc so all his canon is based off the game!

the show refers to “dandy’s world” itself which was a children’s media that was originally just a cartoon show that eventually had its characters made real and living due to aspirations and ambitions of the creators. fiction turned reality typa deal. gardenview (in full gardenview center) was made for the toons to live in, and as an education center and museum that people could come and visit!

while dandy’s world was still just a show, cammie had the role of being a sort of eeyore type of character, where he was constantly sad and gloomy and had to be cheered up by the other toons in the episodes he appeared in. this was something that would be resolved every time by the end of each episode, only to have the same happen the next time he appeared, and so on and so on.

it’s cute and sweet to have a character like this who sort of gets a message across that people will be sad sometimes but in good company they’ll feel better and just need to be given the kindness from others. …But it doesn’t remain that way as soon as you make that same character Living and Breathing and INTENTIONALLY keep them suspended in such a miserable state CONSTANTLY.

THAT’S the state of cammie, as a person. no longer someone who will eventually be cheered up by the end of the day, now existing as someone who is near constantly glum and depressive. the few moments of happiness he has dont last, because the way he was made, he’s not SUPPOSED to have them last. this wasnt a problem when dandy’s world was just a fictional show, but it very much is of questionable moral and ethics now that cammie is just… a real little thang that is crying in his bed half the time.

nothing to really be done about this now, though. the dandy’s world team won’t do anything about this, nor will the toon handlers, nor will anyone else… because now that he’s alive it’d be an even bigger problem to “Put Him Away”. Though i should say wouldn’t in past tense, as gardenview was completely abandoned by humans after The Incident and all the toons were left to fend for themselves.

now cammie’s just sort of figuring out where he really belongs and what really matters to him. especially when his best friend goes missing, and later is found to have been twisted. if there’s anything he was apart from being constantly miserable, it’s that his happiness was entirely dependent on this one best friend of his, and now that she’s gone… well. it’s very hard now, to say the least.

A random evening of chatting with the buddies led to a second daughter for DC/Dust. Meet Chamomile Quandary, better known as Cammy. Lobelia’s younger though quite tall sister, a bit of an odd ball with an inter sense of humour. DC found her in a cardboard box during a rainstorm, Dust and DC tried their best to find the filly’s parents, to no avail. Fostering her became full adoption, and their little family felt complete. Cammy is known for making small chirping noises or owl-like trills.
