How to: Rate your OCs based on how they handle cuddling/being cuddled.

I don't have as many fun ocs as you but I'll run down my little list of bioware dudes <3

Ezra Shepard: 10/10, he will cuddle with anyone anywhere, and very often initiates physical contact with anyone he's close to, platonic romantic or whatever. It was very difficult getting Jack used to this in particular, but they managed to power through. He tends to bonk helmets with Tali.

Miles Shepard: 5/10, he is a very sociable and kind and everyone loves him, but he's always keeping a professional distance in a way most people will either not notice or consider entirely appropriate given that he is their Commander after all. Even with Kaidan he prefers small touches and hand holding; any outright cuddling is initiated by Kaidan, and he has to sort of force himself to accept that such a thing is allowed. Only when they're alone, mostly late at night when he's too tired for distance. Even still, sometimes he enjoys it, sometimes it's just too much. Even years down the line with all shame unlearned, he's not up to cuddling 100% of the time, though it's at least around 80% by then. They have a million other rituals to to show affection. He's not really cuddling with anyone else.

Alim Surana: 2/10 pretty much everyone, 6/10 for Zevran. He is just not much of a cuddler by nature. He also likes to keep a professional distance from people, doesn't trust easily, and shows his affection in a myriad of other ways if he actually likes you. (He frequently doesn't like people, but will strongly pretend he does if he has a use for them; how comfortable he is with physical touch is the greatest indicator of how real it is). Even with Zevran they often don't quite cuddle per se. Zevran's head in his lap; shoulders touching; laying on top of each other; but seldom really tucked in each other's arms or holding one another in bed. Alim likes his space, and Zevran is fine with giving it to him. Even when they're at they're closest and least ashamed of it. For a second I thought to add Morrigan to the list, but honestly I don't think she's much for cuddling either, and their friendship with each other is stronger for it.

Kamil Hawke: 9/10 that man is a cuddler but he does have to know you first. But that threshold is often a lot smaller than most think. He's most affectionate with his family; Mother, Carver, and Bethany, when they were there with him. It at least can never be said that he didn't hug any of them enough. Anders he keeps almost possessively close, rarely taking a hand off him, having him wrapped in his arms as often as possible. But you'll also frequently catch him cuddled with Merrill, who joyfully welcomes such behavior, and Isabela, who always says she can't stand it, yet never pushes Hawke away; "If I don't let him he'll pout all night," she'll say, and this is technically true. He has...more of a warrior's bond with Aveline, Fenris and Varric, that makes him typically keep his distance, but if the mood strikes you may find him wrapped around them as well.

Bonus round for my tarnished priest guy Cedric because Elden Ring is on my mind: He plays up being very stoic and unemotional, both as a Confessor warrior priest and later as he tries to dress himself up as a Paladin of the Erdtree; but once he gets past his blocks and issues (aka has a prostate orgasm) he is a huge cuddlebug and the hard part is getting him off of you.

Bethany Shepard stared down the sights of her rifle at her target, her finger sitting just off of the trigger.

Focus on the target. Be aware of your surroundings, but don’t let them distract you, Mom’s voice intoned at her. It was good advice, as always, especially with all of the noise surrounding her. The sound of stampeding feet, shrieks, a gunshot firing off right next to her and the sound of filthy epithets as the shooter missed the target, the brays of mildly alarmed livestock. She kept her focus, exhaling as she zeroed in on the target in the crosshairs. She moved her finger to the trigger, and pulled.

The shot reverberated in her ears and the rifle’s kickback sent a shock through her shoulder. The glass bottle exploded off of the fence post 15 yards away in a cloud of smoke, green shards flying everywhere.

god this is the hardest question perhaps! bioware sure knows how to make a character. (what they do next, well. that's where we the get problems, trials, and tribulations.)

ANYWAY:

1. my various ocs. this is a cop-out response, but i would die for all of them. specifically miriam shepard, nalwren lavellan, lucy hawke, and phera tabris. terrible terrible kids who make decisions <3

2. dr liara t'soni - i cannot emphasize this enough: instead of grieving commander shepard, liara sells their charred corpse to a terrorist organization because they think (THINK) their necromancy technology works. and it does. then liara becomes the deadliest information broker in the galaxy. she's also an archaeology nerd who probably gets tenure at every university by age 400. the chutzpah in this bitch. i LOVE her.

3. cassandra allegra portia filomena pentaghast. she's entirely fascinating and bioware wasted every opportunity to do something meaningful with her blunt honesty, rigid sense of morality, and dedication to justice. she was like halfway to going "fuck the chantry, though" and yet she's the conservative divine? hello? on a different level, i am a huge lesbian.

4. leliana - what is with me and loving the andrastians in the dragon age franchise. anyway, she's funny, she's saucy, she has a tragic backstory, she tells you your eyelashes are cute. she goes through a crisis of faith and uses murder to cope. she has crows and a nug named schmooples. what's not to love, honestly.

5. miranda lawson - SHE'S MEAN. she's MEAN AND SHE'S SAD AND TRIES TO BE PERFECT but CAN'T and she REBUILDS SHEPARD and then is so mean to her and melts the second she gets some friends. she looks like yvonne strahovski.

The SSV Gabriel is a Human Systems Alliance vessel, home to the special forces team N7 ANGEL. An elite search-and-rescue team, they travel the galaxy, evading Reaper and other threats, locating distress signals and Alliance squads in peril. With Commander Shepard fighting to save the galaxy, the rest of humanity must do their part in this war.

This blog is all about the crew of the Gabriel, the six members of N7 ANGEL, and their missions during the events of ME3 and ME3MP. I have a fanfic in writing that will be showcased here in segments. I am also considering RPing one or two of my N7 OCs, if I especially bond with any of them during my writing. For now, my muse is Bethany Kitani, the Fury Adept of the team.

I made my Femsheps!! First up is Cassandra Grace Shepard. She's a Colonist/Sole survivor. She starts out as a soldier because of the trauma surrounding her biotics but post-lazarus becomes a Vanguard due to Cerberus working off of a forged record. She's about 78-80% Paragon. She's full of trauma and issues that she does eventually work on but has very few close friends outside of the turian family that adopted her. She eventually gets with Kaidan and Garrus.

Next up is Cassandra's older step-cousin Captain Bethany Hannah Shepard

She is a Spacer who is also the War Hero of Elysium and the Butcher of Torfan. She is about 70-75% paragon but has absolutely no time for Bullshit from anyone. She was actually the first choice for being the first human spectre but turned it down in favor of Cassandra getting the opportunity and has always hated the spotlight. She eventually does become a Spectre after the Battle of the Citadel and then later on usurps Liara as the ShadowBroker before the Reapers arrive. She has very few friends. She starts out as an L2 sentinel but before leaving the Alliance gets retrofitted to the L5n.

Finally Here is Bethany's Identical twin Isabella Lynn Shepard. She left the Alliance to pursue a career in Psychology after nearly dying at Torfan and has not been on the best of terms with Bethany ever since. Like her twin she was a biotic though she was able to wait until the L3's were developed to get an implant and she is an Adept. I have no idea when she'll make an appearance in my fic.

(Man, I'm on a roll this month with developing and talking about my OCs, lol)

Since I’m a fan of Life is Strange: True Colors, I was thinking about what emotional auras my OCs would be most associated with. Soooo, here we go!

Content warning: post contains themes and discussions of paranoia, the feeling of being watched, depression, feelings of worthlessness, self-hatred, PTSD, and survivors guilt.

Etain Amell: Fear

Fear has been a part of Etain for her entire life. Fear has become as much as a powerful part of identity as her desire to serve and protect the helpless. She’s afraid of the templars arresting her, afraid of statues that stand too still and watch her from a far. She’s afraid how her words might be misinterpreted, or used against her by those who wish her harm. She’s afraid of her companions of one day betraying her, afraid of Alistair’s growing affections and her own feelings for him. She’s afraid of others becoming afraid of her. She’s afraid of becoming the monster that the templars always expected her to be.

Tara Hawke: Sadness

After the loss of her father, her home, and her brother, Tara became very depressed, only getting worse after losing Bethany to the Wardens and the murder of her mother. She feels she failed to keep her promise to her father that she keep the family safe. She grows to hate the title the Champion of Kirkwall, because in her eyes, she doesn’t deserve the title. The qunari still attacked the city despite her effort to appease them, she couldn’t stop the templars and mages from fighting, and she couldn’t keep her little found family together after everything was over. Everything she’s done just felt completely pointless, and she feels like she accomplished nothing. While her face looks angry and her voice sounds bitter, deep down she’s simply tired and sad.

Kallen Lavellan: Sadness/Joy

After the expedition that killed her clanmates, Kallen developed severe PTSD and survivor’s guilt. She blamed herself for their deaths, wishing she never touched the artifact that led to the Keeper’s First getting possessed by a rage demon and slaughtering her clan. She knew that several of her clanmates blamed their deaths on her as well, feeling hated and isolated by everyone around her, reenforcing her self-hatred. With the support of her parents and the Keeper, the wounds of her heart healed over time.

But then the blast at the Conclave happened, and found herself once again the only survivor of a terrible accident. Not only did it reopen the scars of her past, but she it gave her new scars on top of them. In the beginning, she is visibly depressed, never talking to anyone, and locking herself away in her hut. She initially just blindly went along with what her advisors asked of her, feeling numb and indifferent to everything that happened around her.

And yet, despite all these things, she becomes so radiant and vibrant when she’s filled with joy. When she feels the support and love of her friends and companions, reminded of her culture and heritage, or when she’s passionately engaged with the things that she loves, she is beaming with joy and light. Her smile is the most beautiful sight the world, and her laughter infects everyone around her. While she has many wounds that haven’t properly healed and bad days that bring her down, she still manages to bring strength to those around her with her love and joy for life.

Alaia Shepard: Anger

They say there are five stages of grief. Since the attack of Mindoir, Alaia has been stuck in the anger stage for almost her whole life. While survivor’s guilt made Kallen depressed, Alaia’s guilt filled her with anger, even rage. It was much stronger in her teens and early twenties, where she would often get into fights and easily became irritated or angry when someone said the wrong thing. Her training helped control her emotions somewhat, but she still has a tendency to snap at those who try to get her to talk about Mindoir or Akuze.

Her anger and frustration deepen when she begins hunting Saren and stopping the incoming Reaper invasion. She’s angry about Council refusing to believe the threat of the Reapers, angry about being forced to work with Cerberus, the organization responsible for what happened on Akuze. She becomes especially angry and hurt after reuniting with her friend Ashley, only for her to accuse Alaia for betraying the Alliance and the galaxy by allying with Cerberus. By the time ME3 begins, Alaia’s feels exhausted by both the stress of the Reaper Invasion, and the anger inside her that just won’t stop burning.

Chloe Ryder: Joy

Chloe always seen shining with happiness and energy, cracking jokes and witty comebacks, and ready to go and see what her next adventure has in store for her. While she’s capable of being serious and has moments of doubt, she always bounces back and ready to face the world once again. Yes, she despaired about her mother’s “death”, felt angry about her father’s lies and bad decisions, and feared for Scott’s life and the fate of those who came to the Andromeda galaxy. Yet she still manages to stay strong and bright, smiling the whole time.

Saga Peg’asi: Sadness

Saga’s life was always spent alone, the only ones who showed any interest in her being Nerissa and Vexx. She felt nothing more like a pretty little doll, locked in a glass container to never be touched or held. Despite insisting that she was used to it now, she wished for a family filled with love and support, or to be free and live a life of adventure.  She was truly happy when Nerissa and Vexx spent time with her, for she finally felt like she was alive and loved.

Even when Saga lost her memory, she couldn’t help but feel this strange sadness inside of her, like it was carefully written into her heart. She would suddenly feel a loneliness so intense, that she would start to cry and couldn’t understand why. After regaining her memory, she was consumed with grief over the loss of her family, especially Nerissa, and Vexx’s betrayal. Even if the rest of her family never paid attention to her, she never wished for them to get hurt. Nerissa was the most important person in her life, and now she was gone forever, unable to help Saga during this most difficult time.

June’s cold and hurtful words after finding out she was a Peg’asi made her feel worse. While she understood his hatred for her family, she saw him as her knight in shining armour, and her initial time spent with him made her feel like she was in a fairy tale. The realization that he wouldn’t have cared if she had died along with her family hurt her deeply.

Dana De Sardet: Anger/Fear

It doesn’t start off this way, when she arrived on Tír Fradí. While still grieving over the loss of her mother, Dana was filled with curiosity, worry, and awe by her new responsibilities and the island’s beauty. She was given such a daunting task in being named legate of the Congregation, and finding the cure for the Malichor, and she worried if she would live up to the task. Yet she was filled with wonder over how colourful and clean the island was, and felt a renewed vigor whenever she set out into the wilds.

But then she’s told the truth about her origins: being the child of a native islander and a sea-born, taken by the Prince D’Orsay for his own political gain. Immediately afterwards, she discovers that her dear cousin is dying from the Malichor, just like her mother. The sudden news shatters her, and a darkness in her heart begins to grow. Her fear over losing Constantin turns her quest for a cure into an obsession, lying awake at night wondering where she should go and what she should try next. All that matters right now is saving Constantin, not matter the cost. She so scared of losing him, just like how she lost her mother.

She is angry about the lies that surrounded her life, the fate of her birth mother, how her life was shaped and controlled from the very beginning. She becomes frustrated and furious at the selfishness and cruelty of the other colonizers on the island, and starts making rash and violent decisions in her anger. She can’t even speak to Petrus after finding out he not only used her for his own political gain (just as her uncle had done), but also that he personally knew her birth mother. She’s so enraged, and that anger scares her. She has always been the composed and responsible one, but now she feels like she can’t control this anger and fear that’s absorbing her from the inside.

What makes your character feel insecure? Why does this make them feel insecure? Are they generally concerned about the thoughts of others?

Aedan Shepard is *aware* of the opinion of others and makes certain outward adjustments based on those perceptions depending on how she needs them to respond to her.  As an adult, as *Shepard,* she’s very rarely insecure.  Anything that reminds her that...people don’t stay in her life, very long?  That will trigger a bit of a reaction but she usually just rolls with it or leaves, first.  She intentionally keeps almost all of her relationships shallow or professional.  

Aeryn Hawke makes a whole living out of using the impressions of others about her against them.  It is one of the chief tools in her bag of tricks and she’s done it since she was small, taught in the cradle.  People see what they want to see.  She’s insecure about a great many things, primarily that she’s a failure in every endeavor she’s ever attempted, other than being a thief and a murderer.  Failed her family, failed her friends, failed the city that entrusted her.  Failed to leave  Sebastian be to lead the life he was meant to.  (That she *knows* isn’t up to her but it still sits there in the back of her mind) She doesn’t have a place in the light. She isn’t anything like what her Father wanted, she can’t be what her mother wanted, led her brother to his death. She doesn’t know how to let Bethany choose her path especially when the path Bethany chooses just highlights how much Aeryn failed her.  

But...then she has a drink and plasters a smile on and wraps her shadows around her and goes on.  What else is there?

Post ME2: Arrival + NPCs

After the events of the Arrival DLC when the truth of the Reapers comes to light, the Council strips Shepard of her status and rank and puts her under essentially house arrest, not letting her leave Earth space at all. This is due in part to the destruction of Batarian colonies, but that’s a cover for the fact that they refuse to listen to her about the coming of the Reapers.

During this six month period (until the events of ME3), she is confined to her living quarters on her home military base. People still seek her out for some training or to have a drink or two with her, maybe get lunch or dinner. She becomes acquainted with a small squad that’s progressing quickly through their ranks and proving themselves a force to be reckoned with. This squad* includes Skylar (vanguard, their leader), Emma (soldier, weapons expert), Gary (nickname, Krogan warlord), and Bethany (Engineer, tech specialist).

They all become good friends with Samantha and she comes to rely on them throughout the events of ME3, finding them to be among her most trusted allies.

*These squad members were character my friend and I played in the multiplayer and ended up fleshing out into OCs. There’s several others, all of whom I love, but these are the ones that might be referenced post Arrival.
