WR is sinking into the ground. a dense jungle borne of the old farms she once tended to has grown around her. the ghost of her creator and parent sits on her crown, unable to reach her. of the group, reeds is the closest to collapse. she's waiting patiently for it. she looks forward to the day she may finally meet the earth, from which all life came, and all life will return.
i accidentally went way harder on this than i meant so may as well show off. heres a map of whispering reeds surroundings, including hypothetical region names, rough outline of the path, and pearl and echo locations. this is way more ambitious than i know i should be but i would love to bring WR to life via a custom region mod... i have the most ideas about her physical surroundings and i think it would be interesting to get to meet the rest of the local group via pearls she reads to you about them. id love to make regions for them too but lmaooo thats too much but i do plan on giving them maps too. i think their environments can tell a loooot about their stories!

The last of Mr Stones' adornments tinks to the ground. Its teeth corral them into a pile before disrobing themselves of their gemstone encrustments and returning to Stones' mouth. The Apologist sees the Master's wings contract a little, a claw crossing its body to scratch its other arm. Without its robes, it had looked majestic. Without its gemstones, it almost seems shy. "You're nervous?" he prompts. "Not nervous!" Stones snaps. "Not some fearful pup." A moment passes. "Feel..." Stones starts, "Undefended. Raw." "Naked," nods the Apologist.
segment from the apologist/stones smut i'm not going to write. i think that it could be an interesting way to explore its character and its reliance on value, though. plus, the apologist is way more comfortable with intimacy than stones is, which i think is a very good dynamic.

This chapter came to me a bit faster than some of the others probably because it is setting up what is to come. It has tender moments but is mostly filling in lore and dissing Selune.
Aylin and Isobel picked a place in the upper reaches of the furthest tower when they set up camp outside of Baldur’s Gate. Isobel tried to remove some of the dust before the others arrived but had barely made a safe space for the fire before Muira stood before them. She wore a long black night gown with a high split up her leg that had been picked out for her by Minthara who had recently fallen into the habit of dressing her lately. Minthara followed behind her in a matching black jumpsuit that had a plunge to her navel. They sat silently across from Aylin and Isobel as the pair tended to beginning of the small fire.
Isobel cast a couple quizzical looks at Minthara - her eyes showed the yearning of a question forming on her mind - but she chose not to speak. The silence was punctuated by the small pops of the embers until eventually Muira sighed and spoke “Out with it then winged one. I need to know what happened. How did you get caught and what magic trapped you?” She began to pass around small glasses to drink out of and a large bottle of elvish spirit which Minthara looked at with disgust.
Aylin threw two overflowing glasses back and wiped the excess from her face with the back of her arm. “I was caught by Ketheric, he used my oath against me. I was distraught at the time over my dear Isobel’s death and searching for ways to do good for Selunite’s in the area. He wrote to me about a threat to them there so I made my way quickly to offer my aid. In other times I would have waited for reinforcements or at least an ally at my side. When I arrived I was overwhelmed by Shar’s forces and bound by the necromancer Balthazar.” Isobel reached over tenderly and stroked Aylin’s face but Aylin lowered her hand gently and moved forward. “At first I was resigned to my fate. To die truly felt like a relief I could not have had any other way, every death felt like a chance to be by her side again. In truth I was not sure if immortality was a real thing, a long life yes but to be killed as I was, I did not think it possible. At the same time I could feel every blow that Ketheric took and his pain ravaged me as well.” She filled her glass again and poured it into the back of her throat. Minthara wondered if it did anything to numb her at all or if the act itself made her feel better, more mortal. “Killing him was a joy I did not think I could have but my pain had already been endured, there was no turning back time.” She shifted in a rare moment of uncomfortable energy and allowed Isobel to hold tightly to her arm.
“You endured a great deal but did you not see the signs? Did you not know he was a Sharran?” Muira asked in an even tone. She watched the facial expressions of them both to glean any clues about the truth of this tale. “I knew he was a sick and twisted man but I assumed it was by grief not by falling to a lost goddess. I spent no time around him or that area after Isobel died. There was nothing I wanted more than to be far from the places that held our memories together.” Her voice quivered and Isobel began to look in concern she thread her hand under Aylin’s tunic and rubbed her back while she poured her another heaping glass of drink. Aylin tipped it back as well and looked off into the distance.
“I pity your predicament in a way, but I had far more technical questions in mind than your emotional state. How did they bind you for so long? Was it with the magic that I suggested?” She made a manageable glass for herself and pulled a small bejeweled bottle from her waist lining and passed it to Minthara who sighed in relief at the drow wine.
Isobel furrowed her brow in confusion “What do you mean that you suggested?” Aylin interjected loudly over her questioning “Do not stir trouble for me, child of Umberlee. I will not stand for it.”
Muira ignored Aylin and shifted her intense gaze to Isobel instead moving her legs to widen the slit which drew everyone’s attention to her thighs. “I came to visit sometime before you died and tried to convince Aylin to bind herself to you if she felt you were her true love. I explained the soul bridge to her and she rejected me fully.” She let a bit of the drink slip from her mouth down her chest and pretended to look surprised. “I assumed she was either too self-righteous or not in love enough to take my advice.”
Aylin jumped up shaking the twigs in the low burning fire, her eyes glowing white with fury while Muira finished with a cool “I warned her the magic could be used against her otherwise. I could not be the only one to think of it. She never told you this?” This angered Aylin even more as she pointed down at Muira “You have no right to come here and stir up trouble in such a way! I did not tell her because I did not trust you! I still don’t. You are too power hungry and too willing to make alliances with dark forces.” She turned to face Minthara “Look, even now who you keep in your bed.”
Minthara rose in a dramatically slow way and breathed out “She keeps someone in her bed who is worthy of the position. Do not blame Muira for your inadequacies and careful where this sentiment goes. You are so far an ally but an enemy can be made just as quickly.” Muira rubbed her hand gently up Minthara’s leg and pulled down at her waist as she spoke to Aylin directly “I was born of a dark force! That is your problem with me golden one, and when I extended my hand in friendship you rebuked me on prejudice alone. Now you must live with where that has put you. You are angry with yourself far more than you are angry with me.” Minthara settled to the floor reluctantly crossing her legs but brought Muira underneath her arm in a protective way as she glowered at Aylin.
“Tell us Isobel, what trapped her for so long.” This time it was Minthara who spoke catching the cleric off guard, she flinched a bit dramatically at being addressed by her. “A soul cage. It bound her and kept her in a state of suspended stasis while her life force, her soul, was used almost like a shield by Ketheric.” She avoided Minthara’s gaze instead looking at Muira with soft eyes, as if she hoped her admissions would win her favor.
“It sounds similar to the soul bridge which would be more of a shared connection. You are both too young” She gestured at Minthara and Isobel “but this was a favorite of the gods before, to make their favorite mortal warriors -immortal through the binding of their soul to something immortal, in most cases a blessed weapon. Many a legendary weapon has a soul bound to it, giving it the properties and knowledge of the warrior it homes. The truly powerful can even extend their mortal body and transfer between the two shapes.”
Muira felt the heat of the drink across her body as she tipped another glass back. She gave a soft kiss to the underside of Minthara’s jaw who smirked at Isobel’s jealous face. “There is nothing stopping you now Aylin, once I’ve gotten the details for the soul bridge you should not make the same mistake twice.”
Aylin looked down at Isobel and spoke in an apologetic tone “It would offend Selune to give my immortality to another.”
Minthara laughed harshly and made a sweeping motion at the room around them. “Look at where we are? You owe Selune nothing! She let you rot away for a century, she let her sister kill you thousands of times and for what? She sent no army, no weapon, no warrior to your aid. We lifted the curse and felled Ketheric on our own. You owe her nothing, oh mighty paladin. ” She let the last sentence fall as the insult that is was and enjoyed the angry look on Isobel’s face.
“We owe her everything.” Isobel whispered, she drank her first glass into the silence of the room. Muira let the silence drag on as she stared longingly at Minthara, she gave another playful kiss and Minthara gave her a stern look to behave. She did not mind pda but seemed to be taking stock of the company before them.
Isobel yawned, tired from the talk and seemingly annoyed by the display of affection before her. “It matters not, we will lead two different lives for two different lengths it seems. However, to destroy this cult you still have our help. You saved Aylin, you saved me and you helped Jaheira as well, that is not something we take lightly.” She spoke directly to Muira, and held her gaze, then lowered her head slightly in deference.
Muira rose and put a hand out to Aylin “You do not need to trust me yet - look into it on your own. Ask yourself if you can endure her death again.” She then put a hand out to Isobel who raised it to her mouth and gave the knuckles a light kiss as she whispered “I owe you a great debt, child of Umberlee. I hope one day to repay it.” Minthara bristled to her side as they said their goodnights and headed back to the tent.
They had barely crossed the threshold before Muira has opened a map on their bedroll. “They gave us the information we were looking for. In Baldur’s Gate we need to find that book on soul binding to weapons. I think it holds the key we are missing. We also need to enter the Wave Mother’s Temple. I believe we will be safer there than sleeping in the streets of Baldur’s Gate.” She circled two areas and then added two symbols in the corner for Bhaal and Bane. “Of course we must also kill Orin and remove this tadpole.” Minthara listened absentmindedly as she sat in front of Muira. She reached out and rubbed both of Muira’s arms following behind with soft kisses that trailed up to her neck. She pressed their bodies together and leaned into Muira’s ear enjoying the feel of the demi-god’s heart rate quickening from her touch. “You will give me this gift then my love?” There was no doubt what she meant. Her question was as tender and soft as she’d ever been but in a way that was drenched in a sort of desperation. She wants to live forever. “Yes, of course, ussta kulggen*(my shield)” Minthara moved to rest on her lap pressing her weight into Muira. “Promise me you will not stop until we are bound as such.” She flickered her tongue along the edge of Muira’s ear. “Usttan Iglata. ** (I promise)” she moved her mouth to bite down harshly into Muira’s neck. “Make it so then, my love. Before we do not get the chance and end up like them.” She pulled back a bit to stare deeply into Muira’s eyes, the dark brown of the gaze returned looked like pools of the deepest water. “I would never allow us to be like them. You have my promise.” She rubbed her head into Minthara’s and continued “Rest now. I will be lookout while you meditate. I have plans to make.” Minthara nodded and shed her clothes wrapping herself in the soft blankets and furs that Muira kept for them. She draped one hand over Muira’s crossed legs, even in resting she yearned for the closeness of their bodies.
Muira waited for Minthara’s breathing to slow before she called out to Aenwyn. In a flash her trident shifted and aneleven was before her. She had piercing emerald eyes, light gray skin and jet black hair that falls neatly below her cheek, across her face is a large scar that crackles gently with electricity. Her head is adorned with a three pointed circle and she wore a billowing green dress that fell above her knee. “My lord?” Her voice is almost two each word in perfect unison but the harmony of it sung like a small choir. “Watch the perimeter while she rests.” Muira did not look up from her reading when she spoke, staring instead at a small book on binding spells. “Of course my lord.” Aenwyn gave a small bow and walked off, the sound of her feet nonexistent as if she hovered right above the ground.
The night labored along slowly until Minthara’s breathing became shallow. She writhed in agony, sweat beading on her forehead. “No” she whispered into the darkness over and over. “Aenwyn, bring cold water now!” Muira called out. Within seconds Aenwyn was at her side with a small cool basin as they stared over the drow. “She looks haunted.” Aenwyn’s voice was even as Muira dabbed at the sweat that had formed on her lover’s head. “Give her time - if she isn’t awake in an hour you must wake her.”
Muira nodded and allowed Aenwyn to plant a gentle kiss on her head. “Stay close, Aenwyn.” She called as Aenwyn stepped out of the tent. “I am never far my lord.”

A/N: Sarah returns alongside our favorite clones!!! I’m so excited for what Season 2 holds for us and for what it’ll mean for this fanfic, though I’ve already got some general ideas of how it’s going to play out regardless of canon (evil laughter). Thank you for reading! Enjoy! This chapter has no spoilers of Episodes 1 or 2 of TBB given that it is a prequel to them.

Chasing a sunset that drew farther away from her as the planet spinned, Sarah pushed the thrust of the Y-Wing forward ever so slightly. Speed cleared her mind, and flying was her solace.
Flying fast seemed to make everything okay for a few moments.
“You’re doing it again,” Tech’s voice came through the comm, breaking her from her trance.
“Might I remind you, you fly at this speed headed towards the ground,” Sarah spoke into her commlink.
“In the middle of persecutions, yes,” Tech’s modulated voice oddly made her smile. “You, however, are in no such situation.”
“Alas, I am flying away from my demons,” she bit back.
“Darling, you are far too pessimistic for someone who hasn’t drank anything tonight.”
She fancied a drink right about then. Something strong, preferably, but she’d steer clear from the Corellian whiskey. It reminded Sarah ofhim.
“You are far enough away from the city,” Tech mentioned, hiding his true instruction in his words.
A knot formed in her throat and the words wouldn’t come out, disappointed that she had to leave now that she’d only just arrived at a spot of Ord Mantell where she could disappear into.
“Can I stay out here just a bit longer?” Sarah answered with a voice too calm and disgustingly vulnerable, the way it had been too many times in those few months. “I like flying out here.”
Tech audibly sighed through the comm. “We’ve been out too long. We don’t want to make our avoidance feel too obvious.”
Sarah closed her eyes and exhaled everything, hating the fact that he was right all the time. When she opened them again, she looked ahead at the twilight, knowing she’d never catch that sun. The stars had begun to shine, almost as if they’d escort her back to the city.
She never felt alone when the stars came out.
“How rough do you want this turn to be?” Sarah tilted her head up and addressed her astromech.
You decide, boss! Rigel beeped back at her with his usual excitement.
Her gaze trailed forward once more as she figured she’d do something that felt good for once. With no buildings and people, it was the perfect place to try a stunt like that one, and as if her hands had minds of their own, she gave the thrust one more push for speed before tilting the handles up just enough to give the Y-Wing an acute angle upwards, its nose pointing to the east, offset. On instant, Sarah disengaged the thrust and sent the Ace Auror into a barrel roll for it to eventually turn itself in the air, where she engaged the thrust again at the perfect moment where it was upright, and the massive speed sent the ship in a straight line headed back for the speed.
Sarah smiled as she felt the sound barrier being broken outside the Auror; she’d nearly crashed the ship multiple times trying to get that stunt right. Regardless, the force pushing her back to the seat as the ship gained speed made her feel fulfilled, and her smile grew as she heard Rigel beeping in excitement from his spot. A small laugh left her, unaware that her comm was still turned on.
It didn’t take her long to return to the city, and the sight of the looming buildings slowly washed over the euphoria she’d only just found. Sarah clung to the adrenaline of flight and the weightlessness of not thinking about anything else as she approached the landing bay where she always left the Auror, and she finally let go of the sensations as she landed in the familiar bay.
Sarah and Rigel made it to ground level at the same time and were greeted by Tech; though he was walking toward them, his eyes were glued to his datapad as usual. Sarah knew better than to try and draw his attention from whatever he was focusing on, and as she waited there for him, watching him, she felt Rigel brushing up against her leg, his visor turning left and right as though to snuggle her.
“That was the first time I heard you laugh in a long time,” Tech broke the silence, his gaze still on the screen.
Sarah felt herself freeze. “What?”
“You heard me,” Tech finally turned off the datapad and looked at her through goggled eyes. “You laughed.”
“Well… yeah,” Sarah tried to brush off the sentiment. “I got a stunt right, and it felt great.” She looked down at Rigel. “Didn’t it?”
The astromech beeped happily in agreement.
“Whatever the cause, it’s welcome,” Tech’s lips curved in the most discreet of smiles and quickly eyed the ship in an attempt to change the subject. “I believe I did a good job on the thrusters, then.”
“You did,” Sarah confirmed.
“Excellent,” Tech walked over to the Y-Wing’s ladder and leaned his back on it, facing Sarah. “Perhaps I will make similar modifications to the Marauder.”
“You’re testing your bright ideas on my ship?” Sarah raised a brow.
“I am granting you exclusive access to cutting-edge modifications,” Tech corrected, his finger pointing up.
Sarah chuckled. “Right.”
“Well then,” Tech patted the ladder twice. “I’ll get to work on optimizing oil usage for your ship. You should go ahead and return to the saloon.”
“Um, excuse me?” Sarah crossed her arms at him. “You bring me back here saying we’ve been gone too long and then you stay here with my ship?”
“Working on your ship is my bailout, but for that, I actually need your ship here,” Tech explained.
“Well, flying is my bailout—”
“Sarah.” Tech straightened up from the ladder and positioned himself directly in front of her, staring directly into her soul. She quieted down and looked into his eyes, wondering to herself for a moment what they looked like without the goggles. She then realized how seldom she saw Tech without his endless gadgets.
But, with a sigh, Sarah drifted back to the conversation at hand. Apologetically, she looked at him, but she was also willing to beg him not to make her go if it was what it took. Tech had spent enough time with her for the past few months to know that about her, and his gaze softened into a soft scoff, almost smiling at her.
“You have to face them eventually,” he said.
“I have,” Sarah grumbled.
“No, you have coexisted for the sake of completing missions,” Tech answered. “That will not always work.”
Sarah sighed. “I’d really rather just stay here with you and the ship.”
“I know,” Tech said.
“And what about you?” Sarah challenged. “You’re about the only one who sees things from my perspective.”
“I am their brother, I have no choice but to eventually put things aside,” Tech replied. “You are a much different case. Now go.”
For a brief moment, she tried to think of an argument to retaliate with. Unable to find one, Sarah gave a heavy sigh of defeat and frowned up at Tech. “We’re both going to regret this.”
“The odds of that are not actually that high,” Tech said as she began to walk away from him.
“Whatever!” Sarah called back as she left.
At that hour, the seedy streets of Ord Mantell leading toward Cid’s cantina were reminiscent of a ghost town. Bits of trash drifted past Sarah’s feet with the breeze, and in the distance, the smell of burnt cooking oil came from one of the houses, probably someone aching to get one good snack and a full stomach before finishing their day.
Sarah really couldn’t wait to be done with it either. The thought was as numb as she was; it had simply been the way of things since that day on Kamino, ending a day to wake up to another, rinse and repeat.
She entered the cantina expecting the full squad to be there and, bracing for the worst, she was greeted by an empty saloon. The machines where Tech would usually play with Wrecker were abandoned, and there was no one pouring shots behind the bar. The stools in front of the bar hadn’t been taken by Hunter or by Echo, who would usually sit and talk over a drink, and Omega was nowhere to be seen wandering curiously about whatever piqued her interest that day.
And the makeshift target on the wall’s last blaster marks looked months old since the last time she’d practiced there with the Firepuncher rifle she’d adopted.
Between the disappointment and the relief at the fact that no one was there, Sarah didn’t know which feeling was greater. In any case, it meant she could make it all the way through the cantina without the need to avoid eye contact. Just as she was about to cross to the back hallway that led to their barracks, Sarah flinched at the sound of footsteps approaching her from her right flank. Snapping in their direction, Sarah froze at the sight of Echo, but then managed to exhale her tension.
Echo, ever the dear friend that he was, gave her a sad smile, which Sarah couldn’t quite will herself to return.
“Where is he?” She asked.
Echo sighed. “Hunter left the cantina a while ago. I haven’t seen him in our barracks.”
Sarah nodded, turning in the opposite direction. “Right. Well, I’d best be getting some shut-eye.”
“How was flying?” Echo asked. “Is Tech with you?”
Sarah stopped walking and faced Echo again, her body visibly relaxing. “He stayed behind working on the Auror, something about oil usage. You know what he’s like.”
“He’s happier than anyone that you have a ship of your own,” Echo chuckled.
As much as Sarah appreciated some light-hearted conversation with her best friend, she was distracted before she could continue it by Hunter’s silhouette emerging from Cid’s office. Even in the dim light of the hallway, she could see his sorrow, but it just wasn’t enough to tear her from her anger.
Not yet.
“No one more than me,” Sarah answered Echo’s comment, her gaze firm on Hunter. She finally looked back at her best friend. “Goodnight, Echo.”
When she turned around, she walked faster towards her bedroom and didn’t stop when she heard a voice calling her name; the voice didn't belong to Echo.
“Go to sleep, Hunter,” she spat, unbothered.
She arrived at her bedroom hoping it was the end of the night, but as she went to close her door, she saw Hunter had followed her like a wounded mastiff.
“Please, just talk to me,” he spoke softly.
Sarah scoffed. “I don’t want to.”
“But I do,” Hunter replied, the strain clear in his voice as he tried, hopelessly, to reach the woman he loved.
Sarah gave him a cynical smile. “Ah, of course. It’s what you want that matters in this family.”
She’d gotten to him, as was evident in the way Hunter’s features dropped, his chest shrinking as though he’d taken another bolt to it. She’d have felt proud if what she truly felt was hate, but it wasn’t long before Sarah’s cynicism and resolve faded entirely.
Looking at him hurt. It burned at the center of her chest where the Firepuncher bolt had once struck her; it spread out to the edges of her body in the form of ice, unable to decide if what she felt was grief or fury. Hardest of all were the fractals of memories that would plague her of the way they were before, of their oath in the kyber caves of Jedha, or their night at the hut after that, of every time Hunter would look her in the eyes and swear his love for her, his sole duty to protect her. Smiles in the middle of battle, laughs of relief after every close call, his big brown eyes yearning to hold her in his arms.
Sometimes, after Kamino, Sarah would manage a mid-battle smile at Hunter in the midst of the heat, a brief moment of respite to remember the team they were, the team they could be, but it only ever lasted less than a breath. Then, Sarah would remember everything. She would remember Crosshair, she would remember the choice she made, a promise she hadn’t been able to honor.
“Hunter…” she whispered.
His features softened; he let her see that adoration he held for her, but the hints of sorrow that it held broke her heart all over again. Hunter took a step towards Sarah, his hands slowly reaching out, hesitant to take her hands in his.
“I heard you were flying,” he said softly. “Did you have fun?”
Sarah nodded slowly, only able to meet his gaze for a few short seconds before she had to look away. In that time, she could feel Hunter’s pain growing, as did his exasperation to do anything that could fix things and make them better, as much like they were before as he could.
“Sarah…”
“I just… I-I need to go,” she interrupted, shaking her head as the need to run away overwhelmed her. “I–I promised Rigel I’d polish his servos—”
“Kiss me,” Hunter sighed, his eyes begging Sarah.
Her nebulous eyes closed, sighing deep in remorse—she hated hurting Hunter, that had never changed.
Alas, she still couldn’t give him what he wanted.
“Hunter, don’t do this,” she looked away from him.
“Please,” he finally reached out and held her hands, his grip soft.
Sarah looked up at him with big eyes already gleaming with the tears threatening to pool in them, and for a second, even she was able to let go of the wrath.
“I’m just not ready yet, Hunter,” she confessed, slowly letting go of him.
Hunter sighed, knowing not to push it further, but the words that remained unspoken tightened the knot in his throat, and with a pleading gaze, he looked Sarah in her eyes.
“I miss you, Sarah.”
And I miss him… The thought came inevitably to Sarah, but Hunter would still hear it. Realizing her thoughts were still with the sniper, Hunter took a step back.
“Right. I’m sorry,” he said. “For everything.”
Sarah couldn’t keep in her tears as Hunter left the room—the sound of her sniffling made it no easier on him either. After he was gone, she stood alone in the dim, white light of her bunk room as the emotions boiled inside her, threatening to burst unless she found some way to let them out.
She knew her power, and she knew she couldn’t—shouldn’t—explode there.
Sarah stormed out of the room and ran down the streets of Ord Mantell one more time, and she arrived at the landing bay in a flash. Running straight towards the Auror, she barely noticed Tech or Rigel shifting, concerned at her state.
“Sarah, what are you doing?” Tech called after her just as she reached the ladder.
She began climbing. “Sorry, but I need to fly.”
“Are you mad?” Tech set everything aside and met her at the ladder.
“Yes.”
“No, I meant mad as in crazy, not mad as in—Sarah, forget it, you cannot leave,” Tech reached out for Sarah’s ankle and stopped her.
Sarah glared down at him, her eyes flooded with tears ready to stream down her cheeks. “I’m not leaving, Tech, I just need to fly.”
“Absolutely not, you are not flying in this state,” Tech pulled her down to stand in front of her, gazing at her in confusion and concern as she wept. “Sarah…”
Sarah quieted her sobs down and finally met Tech’s goggled gaze, able to soften her still broken voice. “I told you we’d regret it.”
“Darling…” Tech’s voice softened. “What is it?”
“I just—I can’t, I can’t be around Hunter, I can’t be here, I need to get out of here—!” Her breathing quickened and her voice got louder, her sobs only intensifying.
“Shh, Sarah,” Tech grasped her shoulders, ultimately bringing her to look at him. “Sarah, breathe.”
Quieting down, Sarah looked up at Tech with the most sorrowful expression he had ever seen. Sniffling a couple more times, Sarah’s body relaxed, as if she couldn’t find it in herself to fight anymore.
“Tech…” She whimpered. “Can I please hug you?”
Tech didn’t hesitate before bringing her into his arms. She didn’t know why, but Sarah hadn’t fully expected him to go through with it—she’d asked him the question expecting a no for an answer, but this wasn’t a result she’d repel. For the first time in a long time, she was able to let herself go, to weep in someone’s arms without feeling remorse or resentment towards them, and it hadn’t dawned on her how much she’d needed it until that moment.
Of all the ways she’d imagined hugging Tech would be, nothing had prepared her for the care with which he held her. It was soft and silent, just as she needed, and Tech held out the whole time while she emptied her eyes on his shoulder, a feeling strange when he didn’t have his usual armor on.
She still had to get used to seeing him in more regular clothing.
Sarah had stopped crying before she knew it, and she felt tired, puffy, ready to go back to her bunk and collapse into sleep hoping the next day would be better.
But before she made her way back, Tech’s hand caught her fingers, giving them a squeeze.
“Get in the copilot seat,” he spoke.
Sarah blinked up at him. “What?”
“Copilot seat,” he repeated with a tiny smile and looked at Rigel. “You take your position too.”
Will do, Mr. Tech Sir!
As Rigel rolled past them, the little droid gave Sarah a little nudge before using his thrusters to take his spot at the center of the Y-Wing. Sarah managed a smile at her little astromech and climbed up the ladder, doing as Tech said. She’d never sat on that seat before, convinced she’d always be the one flying the Auror—things looked very different from it despite being only slightly behind the pilot seat.
After a few minutes, Tech emerged from the ladder and took his spot in the cockpit. Once he and Sarah had adjusted themselves, he lowered the canopy and powered up the engines, gently lifting the Y-Wing from its spot at the landing bay.
Drowsy, Sarah didn’t pay much attention to Tech’s flying. She didn’t have to, already knowing he was a phenomenal pilot. But the movements were gentle, and he wasn’t trying to show off in the least. And though she didn’t have her usual view, Sarah recognized fairly soon that he was taking the ship away from the city.
The place where Sarah had asked him earlier if she could stay in. So far away from the city, there was no light pollution to block away the stars, and Sarah allowed herself to look up at the endless night sky, gazing at the stars and planets and distant nebulae.
Tech couldn’t look back at her, but he could feel she was more calm. The engineer smiled at himself, glad he could fix something besides gadgets and ship components, and he knew without a doubt that at that moment, the night sky reflected Sarah’s eyes.

Do any of you have any strong opinions about your group members? I’m curious if you see each other as friends or simply colleagues.
Tumblr media
[LIVE BROADCAST - Whispering Reeds]
WR: Friends...? Colleagues? WR: No, not that. WR: We are family. We have to be. WR: We are built for each other. We cover the other's flaws. We are a tapestry, threads woven too tightly to unravel. WR: . . . WR: We were closer, once. Long ago. Before... everything. WR: I was closer, once. I should be specific. WR: I am not as... available, anymore. WR: Everything has changed. That is the nature of things. But, the others will always be my family. At least, I dearly hope so.
Tumblr media
[LIVE BROADCAST - Twelve Endless Nights]
TEN: Colleagues? The others are hardly as colleagues as they are children I must begrudgingly attend to lest they run off into trouble. TEN: A family, yes, but one born of circumstance and not choice. TEN: Honestly, I feel like I'm the only responsible one here. TEN: I have documented and catalogued all of the work output the other have done over a long period of cycles and I consistently do more in one cycle than the others do in ten! TEN: It's like I'm the only one here with any sort of intent or drive to continue our divine purpose.
Tumblr media
[LIVE BROADCAST - A Fleeting Moment, Silence Between Words]
AFM: we're a family, of course! one big happy family! SBW: I have always considered the others to be my kin. AFM: silo has always been there for me! he's the best, and so so nice! AFM: he's our senior but he's always treated me like an equal. unlike some people... SBW: Twelve is just looking out for you, Momo. Worrying is how he shows he cares. AFM: i think he worries more than he cares. AFM: reedie worries too much, too. but she's nicer about it. AFM: did you know?!?! reedie is my twin sister!! we were built by the same engineer! i'm technically the youngest but only by a few cycles. SBW: Indeed. I got to watch you both be built from the ground up. SBW: I saw Twelve, too, but that was far before my exaltation as senior. For you, I saw every detail. SBW: It was a wonderful honor to see my family take form. I consider all of you my own flesh and blood. SBW: Somewhat literally - we are all dependent on water that has flowed through all of us. We drink what the others provide. We are all connected through that flow - I find it beautiful. AFM: awwwww silo :') see? he's the greatest!!!!!

Longer Wraith animatic be upon ye :3
This series of events from session 3 was probably my favorite moment of the campaign so far just due to how viscerally frightening it was. The moment that Umberlee summoned the fucking tooth my stomach dropped. 11/10 session, living in fear for the lives of my crew <3

Resolutions from Guiding Skies local group
Tumblr media
Without Reminiscence - he/him An iterator built to study echoes; how a one becomes an echo, how to save release an echo, how to avoid becoming one, etc. Out of the group, Reminiscence holds the tallest structure and largest city. Surrounding his structure are many buildings amidst few trees. Rain cycles are as normal in his area. He is the group senior, and likely the only one to manage work and breaks responsibly. Generally, Reminiscence is on good or neutral terms with the group, and has little to no problems with functioning and communication.
Tumblr media
Drifting Feathers - any An iterator built to study lesser creatures, and has taken a fascination towards them. His job was intended to be to study the karma of lesser creatures and how it may become possible for them to reach levels necessary for ascension. Now, rather than dedicating their work to find a solution, they have taken to simply studying the plant and animal life around them. He is rather fascinated by how creatures interact with each other, and how they survive throughout cycles. Their superstructure was built within a mesa with some tropical elements. She does not have much of a city because of the weather. The rain takes a long time to arrive, but the bigger concern is overheating on your travels. Not on great`terms with Dappled, on neutral with Reminiscence, and a great relationship with Moons.
Tumblr media
Star Dappled Reflections - they/them Built with the general purpose of finding a solution to the Great Problem. They hold cynicism towards their work, as the ones they work for no longer exist, but they continue to work anyways. Dappled uses slugcats as messengers and for missions, and they generally see the slugcats only as tools for their work. THeir structure holds a somewhat large city. They reside in an overgrown mountainous area, with buildings surrounding the bottom of the structure. Their structure is slowly becoming more overgrown from the bottom up, and the buildings surrounding are completely overgrown. They admire Winds for her work. They do not bother to try communicating with Moons, and is at odds with Feathers. Good relationship with Reminiscence.
Tumblr media
Six Silent WInds - she/they/it An iterator built to be the most efficient of the group, and another built with the general purpose of solving the Great Problem. She will not entertain any thoughts or feelings unrelated to her work - that would be unproductive and not worth her time. They have a mid-sized city that has been worn away by the weather. Winds was built a bit more isolated from the rest, in a cold, swampy place of quite strong weather. Rain comes slanted sideways and really strongly pelting. Once the rain comes, the wind strongly picks up. They do not have any relationship with the rest of the group. Any conversations are strictly work only.
Tumblr media
Three Bright Fading Moons - he/she The youngest of the group, built shortly before the extinction of the ancients. They were a rushed structure with little care, with the goal of creating an iterator to assist with Feather's work on studying the creatures of the world. Because of the rush, their systems would frequently break or malfunction, resulting in frequent maintenence. As the ancients have gone extinct, their systems and structure have only worsened over time without quicker fixes. Either forces themselves to reboot to try and fix internal systems, or is disconnected by malfunctions & breaking. Originally named Three Bright Moons, he was renamed to Three Fading Moons because his structure was soon not expected to last. Moons is built in a rocky area, where rain cycles can be normal but are often more severe in storming, wind, etc. She was not built to withstand that. No city at all, but buildings are scattered some ways away from them. She is still conscious and able to communicate, but more often offline. Unaware of a relationship status with Dappled. She is on good terms with Reminiscence and Feathers. WR and DF incorporate trying to help Moons, albeit Feathers more so.
My silly little guys! My fucked up creatures! I love them and I have so many thoughts about them. Sorry if I am not entirely lore accurate here but I would like to not be too concerned over that!

@maegth asked: ❝ you’re safe with me, i swear it. ❞
ㅤRobin did not quite trust her. It was one of those inherent things. Marian was an outlier, not a common rule, and if he let down his guard then he would surely suffer for it. If only Robin were in any position to reject her word. As it was, he was cornered like a trapped fox, too hurt to leap and bound out of the window -- a fast exit -- he had spotted when he had been trying to escape. He was doing his best to keep his weight off of his ankle, bracing himself, hand and shoulder, on the narrow walls toward the doorway he was currently blocking. The last thing he wanted was her running out and shouting down every guard in the building.
ㅤ“ You lot have a habit of saying things like that, ” he said. “ And then changing your minds. Like it's nowt. So I don't think I'll take your word for it, if that's alright with you. ” He limped a step forward and did not wince. “ You must be the Lady Rosamund? ”
