The heavy groan of the ship’s hull swallows the sound of Heat’s boots as he steps inside. The dim glow from the lanterns outside casts jagged shadows across his scarred face, the dark outline of his frame filling the doorway. The cold night air slips into the room, stirring the thick haze of smoke hanging in the air.

“He wants you,” Heat says, his voice low and sharp. “Now.”

Pascha doesn’t even flinch. She’s stretched out in the hammock, one leg hooked over the edge, the other resting lazily against the rope netting. The blue glow from the CRT screen beside her flickers against her face, softening the hard edge of her eyes as she exhales a slow, thin trail of smoke from the blunt between her fingers.

She takes another drag, the ember burning bright orange in the low light. A faint smirk curls her lips.

“Let him wait,” she mumbles.

Heat’s jaw tightens. “It’s Kid,” he growls. “You know how he gets when he’s kept waiting.”

Pascha’s gaze shifts toward him, half-lidded and lazy beneath the golden strands of her hair. She inhales deeply, the smoke curling between her lips as she speaks.

“And?”

Heat moves closer, the floorboards groaning under his weight. His eyes narrow, dark and impossible to read. Without breaking eye contact, he slips the blunt from her fingers, his hand grazing hers with a brief, deliberate touch before he lifts it to his lips.

He inhales slowly, the ember flaring brighter for a moment, casting a faint glow across his face. Smoke rolls lazily from his mouth as he leans down, his gaze locked with hers. Then, without a word, he holds the blunt out to her.

Pascha’s eyes flick down to his hand as she takes it back, her fingers lingering against his for a breath longer than necessary. She brings the blunt back to her lips and exhales slowly, smoke drifting through the dim light.

“Tell him I’ll be there when I’m ready,” she says softly, her tone light, almost playful. “Unless he wants to come down here himself.”

Heat’s mouth tightens into a thin line. He steps back toward the door, the soft creak of the wood beneath his boots echoing through the quiet.

“Don’t make him wait too long,” he says without turning around. “You know how he gets.”

Pascha’s lips curl into a faint smile as she brings the blunt back to her lips, taking a slow, deliberate drag.

“Oh,” she breathes, eyes narrowing slightly as smoke drifts lazily from her mouth. “I know.”

The door closes behind Heat with a low, hollow thud. Pascha watches the smoke curl toward the ceiling, the quiet hum of the ocean beneath the ship the only sound left in the room.

Bios under the cut

Baron: A Pre-War pilot in the US Air Force. He met @sawyingthroughthewasteland 's Sole, Sawyer, while at a Navy officer school. After being shot down over Alaska he signed up for an experimental 'super soldier' program and frozen. The freeze was only meant to last one month, but that was before the bombs fell.

200 years later, the Enclave finds him in one of their labs, unfreezes him, and takes him to Raven Rock to perform experiments on him. Then, when Hannah happened to Raven Rock, he fled to the Brotherhood of Steel. 10 years after that, the BoS sends an envoy to the Commonwealth to find out what happened to the Prydwen - turns out, Sawyer happened. Reunited once again, Baron leaves the BoS and marries Sawyer. These days, he pilots for the Minutemen.

Dee: Born to a nuclear physicist and a Nobel prize winning biochemist, three years after being sealed in Vault 76 along with some of the most brilliant minds in America. Unfortunately, as Dee grew it turned out she wasn't brilliant - at least, not compared to her peers, the genius children and prodigies in her Vault classes. Her parents had high hopes for her, even naming her after the Hindu concept of 'dharma,' but she rebelled against expectation at every opportunity. She despised her know-it-all peers, her overbearing family, and the shit attitudes of every privileged asshole in the Vault. The Wasteland and everyone in it turned out to be much more fun.

Hannah: Ever since she was a baby, Hannah was the sweetest person you'd have ever met. (We don't talk about the toddler years.) Her father raised her Christian like her mother, but her innate sense of right and wrong always overpowered her respect for rules, God, or the Overseer - and that got her into trouble. When the Overseer made a poor choice, hurt anyone, or even said anything unkind, Hannah made sure to let him know. Many people saw her as a troublemaker for that reason - especially Butch, who hated that she always tattled on him. But she was the apple of her father's eye, and she was just as intelligent and gifted in both science and medicine as him. This served her well in the Wasteland. She's a pacifist, a paragon of virtue, and yet the Wasteland has done its damnedest to break her. Someday, it'll succeed, but her friends will do their best to delay it.

Pascha: From birth, Pascha was told she was the Chosen One. Her grandmother passed when she was young, but she knew she had big shoes to fill. Luckily, that suited Pascha (or Paz, to her pals) just fine. She always liked the power and respect. That's not to say she didn't do plenty to earn it - she was never one to sit still. She was constantly improving herself, waiting for the day she got to prove that she really was the Chosen One. Once that day came, she was eager to be a hero; but it turned out that while being a legend came naturally, acting like a hero just wasn't her style.

Peggy: Raised in a big family on a brahmin farm near Redding, but a woman with more pre-War sensibilities, Peggy left home shortly after her beloved father was conscripted into the NCRA and sent to the Mojave front. She enlisted to follow him; although she had no combat skills whatsoever, it was discovered that she had a rare and unique skillset that made her an excellent... secretary! She maneuvered to get assigned as Colonel Hsu's personal aide, hoping to leverage her position to get her father sent back home, but her father isn't the only man she ends up caring for.

Snake Eyes: Six isn't sure who she used to be before, but she doesn't particularly care. Fueled by vengeance and greed, Six kills, pays off and betrays whoever she needs to in the service of Mr. House, all in the interest of enjoying the luxury, power and respect that comes with the job. She isn't always proud of what she's done, especially to her friends, but the caps, chems and sex that she's paid in helps keep her numb to herself while the Mojave languishes around her. She goes by Six, but most people call her Snake Eyes, owing to perhaps her one scarred eye, her capacity for betrayal, or maybe her supernatural luck. That said, only the very stupid or the very brave will call her that to her face.

✦ Cordelia and Flynn Gryffin

You can probably tell from their proportions, but Cordelia is like a head taller than Flynn, that's why their refs next to each other look so goofy lmao

I somehow managed to do real quick references for Cordelia and Flynn before Art fight, so I’m using this as an opportunity to talk about their lore!! Long ass ramble ahead 🫡

Cordelia 🦚

Cordelia is a peafowl puenymph! Specifically a male one because they look especially beautiful and noble, which fits her heritage of “rarer“ puenymphs. When it comes to animals with sexual dimorphism, these features usually match the sex of the person, which makes Cordelia intersex because she is female! She is also unable to transform at all because she lacks the hormones needed for transformation, meaning she is “stuck“ in her hybrid form (which can get inconvenient with her long tail)

She is considered a very beautiful puenymph and gets a lot of attention for her heritage. A lot of pressure lasts on her to maintain her family’s image, meaning she got a lot of backlash from the public for having children with a “common“ puenymph which would “poison the prestigious bloodline“ (YIKES!!!). This only got worse when the public found out that Robin turned out to be a “commoner“ too.

During the time Flynn was lost at sea, she was helped with raising Samuel and Robin by her close friend Pascha, becoming very close with her and developing romantic feelings. They got together and Pascha and her daughter Noctua became part of the family. After Flynn came back home and they got to know each other and fall in love again, Cordelia, Pascha and Flynn enter a polyamorous relationship.

Flynn 🦈

Flynn is a great white shark puenymph with a passion for sailing. He likes exploring the undocumented parts of the sea in the puenymph realm, which becomes detrimental for him when his ship gets caught in a storm and is destroyed. He is the only survivor, with the rest of the crew being sent to the demon realm and unable to contact him. He was straying around in the ocean in his shark form for TWENTY YEARS until he got home (arriving around 3 years after the beginning of my actual oc story).

He had a very hard time readjusting, seeing that everyone he loved thought he was dead and moved on, and on top of that not having much human contact for two decades. Though he was able to rekindle most of his relationships after a lot of time and effort, his relationship to Robin is extremely distant and strained, as Robin has next to no memories of his father and believed he had left for so long on purpose.

- Pascha regrets what happened at university the most of anything in their life and doesn't blame anyone else for it

- Pascha doesn't get on with all their siblings but is close with their half-sibling Darian; if Darian married Rosario, Pascha's heartbroken about not having been able to go to the wedding, but also understands that it would never have been possible

- Pascha is really fond of Danelak, though they don't really know how to say it because they're a servant; but they also find them frustrating because (as they see it) Danelak is more sensible than them and tells them off too much for doing what Danelak would call "weird stuff" such as wandering out in the snow in the first chapter

🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?

When I think about Pascha I often think of them sitting or hunkered down on the floor - one of many reasons why I love the cover art from @defenestratin is that Pascha is sitting just how I imagine them. They sit curled in big chairs too but not sprawled in a relaxed way. If they wear a necklace (there's a particular emerald one they wear in game a lot) they'll run the pendant along its chain without really thinking about it. Pascha is enthusiastic in conversation but often comes on a little strong/intense for some people and feels sad/aggrieved if rejected. Unlike some other overtly odd or off-putting characters such as Delacroix or Beaumont (who are happy putting people off and enjoy solitude) they are pretty highly extroverted and really do want to engage with people.
