Random Thåström–clipping explained [3/?]: "–Sat on Thåström until the police came"

Text is a bit blurry and the bottom lines cropped out so I'm not going to bother with a word for word but here's a summary of this fantastic article:

Context: it's 1989 and Thåström is on tour following the release of his first solo album, Thåström and crew has done a show in Skara and has stayed the night at a hotel. It is now noon and time for a rockstar breakfast

The crime:

According to the hotel's cellar master, 35-year old Stig Roser, Thåström came into the diningroom at around 1 pm and "behaved like a savage"

According to Stig, Thåström "threw his jacket and a bag on a sofa" (this is written as if this is a rude thing to do, or perhaps "savage", idk different times ig)

He then proceeded to "eat from the Christmas buffet using his fingers".

Seeing this Stig then walked up Thåström and confronted him on his poor table manners saying "we have other rules here"

to which Thåström replied: "My name is Thåström and I do whatever the fuck I want!".

A scuffle ensued ending up with a busted lip and broken glasses for Stig, and Thåström subdued on the floor apparently without any further struggle.

So basically Stig decides to make some sort of citizens arrest and make sure Thåström can't get his dirty hands on any more meatballs or worse by sitting on him until the police arrives.

There's also a seemingly bewildered tourmanager there asking if they need a lawyer and pleading for Stig to.. dismount I guess, to which Stig replies "over my dead body!"

A witness to the incident comments that "the worst thing was that there were so many children present"

A police comments by saying he has never heard of this Thåström guy, but that he is arrested on suspicion of assault

Thåström ended up spending a couple of hours at the police station and was then released. Seems like charges were dropped

Fun fact: I haven't seen any comment from Thåström about this incident apart from a reference it 20 years later in the song Kort biografi med litet testamente with the lyrics "I spent a night a night at Skara police station and since then I've stayed away from there".

So did Stig manage to teach him about table manners you might ask?

"maybe it was because he was nervous and uncomfortable that he ordered a half-litre [of beer] and practiced rock 'n' roll in the middle of the day. Either way he was starved. The waiter placed a big plate in front of the sofa where Thåström was sat. He let the cutlery lie and stuffed slings of bacon in his mouth with his bare fingers.

– Egg and bacon, fuck yeah! Pig, plain and simple! And I who used to be a vegetarian. Really, one should be vegetarian. But it's so incredibly complicated. And hell, bacon is heavenly good! Thåström grins, with his mouth full of pig" ~ Thåström interviewed at a hotel in Norway by Dagsavisen, 2002
