Fixed up some reallyyy old sketches of my oc Khara from like 2021 or something. Older ones are on the left and newer ones (2023) on the right. Being amongst my oldest of OC's she's gone through the most redesigns, and I still haven't made up my mind on which ones to stick with. But ah well, a weird varied wardrobe doesn't hurt.

1. Is there a book that made you start writing?

I can’t remember exactly which one, but I guess?:p

2. What’s the first story you’ve ever finished, if you have?

A LOTR fanfic...

3. Have you ever done a NaNoWriMo/Camp NaNo?

Yas. Won NaNo with the first draft of PS this year.

4. Do you have OCs based on other fictional characters?

I think so...Can’t think of anything right now, of course, but I take inspiration everywhere:p

5. Do you have any OCs based on your friends/people in your life?

Vaguely. One of the minor characters in the Archipel WiP is named after my sister and looks like her.

6. Why did you join writeblr?

Because I spend my life on this hellsite and I love speaking about my writing, so it seemed like a good idea. I need to get better at getting interested and pursuing interest in other people’s writing, though.

7. Tell me about the music you write to.

TV shows soundtracks, or ambient music, when I’m in the mood.

8. Any writing rituals?

Cry.

9. If you had to Freaky Friday two of your OCs, who would you Freaky Friday?

Mmmh...Maybe Kaherdin and Swan. Since they hate each other’s guts.

10. Which author do you think you have a writing style similar to?

I have no idea and I’m not sure I want to know!

OC Ask Meme

Fragrance: what do your OCs smell like? Girolamo smells of citrus and leather (occasionally blood…), Giuliano smells something different but luxurious each day, Cat smells of flowers, Alda smells of pinecone, Garret like seasalt.

Parachute: who does your OC(s) trust the most? who makes them feel safe? who would they do absolutely anything for? Cat, Girolamo, Giuliano and Rosamunda become the “ride-or-die” quatuor during the novel. But Cat would do anything for Carlo (and reciprocally) and for Costanza. In the Ijandia crew, Alda trusts Kyndë,Kaëlig and Garret the most. And Kaherdin trusts everyone even though he shouldn’t.

Conspiracy theory: what are your OC’s beliefs? are they skeptics or do they believe easily? who acts on blind faith? who needs to see to believe?  Girolamo, Ailean, Eshkan and DudeWhoseNameICan’tRecall are the hardcore religious believers of the lot. (The) God(s) know(s) best and that really influences the characters’ way of acting. Again, Kaherdin believes really easily (except dragons, that was a hard one to swallow), while Swan is Miss “You gotta prove it by X, Y, W, Z and letters that don’t exist for me to believe you”.

Zodiac: what’s their sign? does it influence their personality? do they care about astrology?  (Please note my knowledge of zodiac signs is very limited, so I could be entirely wrong!!) Alda is a Gemini, which I picked to match her personality (gentle, caring, a bit nervous). Now that I think of it, she’d have a different astrological sign in canon. Same for Cat being an Aquarius (energetic and independent) and Girolamo being a Capricorn (responsible and self-control (also he’s born on the 27th of December and that’s pretty much an inside joke))

13. What is your OCs earliest memory?

Cat remembers very foggily sitting in her grandmother’s lap as she talks about finances and other household problems. Costanza’s are she and Cat playing as children in Milan’s gardens. Alda has no memories of her childhood.

41. What is your OCs motto about life?

Riario’s would be “Kill it before it kills you”, Carlo’s is “Red hair don’t care”, Aisling and Kaherdin’s is “Why us?”

60. Does your OC enjoy nature?

Alda, Garret and Morwenna love it (Now I’m sad Morwenna and Garret don’t live at the same time period, because they would be absolute sea and boats nerds). Swan hates it. Especially when there are bugs around. (The only good use for dirt, mud and sand is burying a body, damn it!)
