uhh... happy halloween????
to be real with y'all i started this october 30th and it has been sitting in my files since then because it never felt totally finished. But at this point I haven't touched it in so many months i think its time to just set it free. SO. here u go!!! Arcade and Delilah as Frankenstein and the Monster.
this is sort of a spinoff of a silly mad scientist au i have where arcade makes friends with a Very Good Karma courier.... and then they die and he goes a little bananas trying to bring them back because he believes they're the only one who can save the mojave. he holes up in Big MT and does some malpractice in the name of the Greater Good. and maybe its a little homoerotic i dont make the damn rules ok!

Eyes & The Observer
Lo: [she/he/it/etc] A member of an alien race called “the observers” by others. Every ship has an observer on board. They are not assigned, they merely appear at a seemingly random point in the journey.  Observers are not naturally humanoid and are merely appearing so to better blend in. When asked what their goal is their answer is “to observe.” Observers never help when things go wrong. They also lack the ability to feel or express emotion (it would impede observation). This makes them generally disliked.  Lo can die but will just come back again after a time. While observers cannot feel emotion they can experience pain - this is to encourage them to take care of their humanoid bodies which they might otherwise neglect due to not being used to the form. However, some observers in recent years seem to be incredibly paranoid about self-preservation after dying or becoming hurt too many times. Observers can form interpersonal relationships with the crew but this is rare as they are upfront about not helping even if their ‘friends’ are in danger. Some choose to mimic human rituals like eating lunch, sleeping, or showering but others just watch the crew. It’s unclear what Observers are doing with this information. It’s also unclear what they consider to be a breach of their purpose as many observers do offer up information based on what they’ve witnessed. Lo is an Observer who has recently died. It has been reborn aboard the same ship Magnolia pilots. Magnolia: [she/her] A human woman. She is the pilot of her small exploratory vessel. Her official title is “Eyes” because her ship is in the shape of a human head, modeled after the person who paid for its construction. She looks through the eyes to navigate. Magnolia is a person who radiates an aura of hesitancy and sorrow. She has become somewhat isolated by the others aboard her ship because she’s considered to be standoffish and a mood killer. She’s incredibly compassionate but has a difficult time explaining herself to others in a way they understand. Magnolia is very frightened of other people and ends interactions as quickly as possible, leading to others finding her unpleasant. She never attends social events and seems to be more at ease figuring out aliens than she is with herself and her fellow humans. It seems she didn’t used to be this way. She considers Lo her friend, even if he won’t help her if she’s ever in danger. She and Lo have kissed before but she’s unsure what to label their relationship as. She’s often very worried about Lo.

Just gonna casually drop a really pivotal character moment from the whumptober thing I am still working on that became way longer than I intended it to be (warning: mentions of torture and also this is very heartbreaking)
When the pain became too unbearable, Imogen attempted to go inwards. Her mind may be the only chance of salvation. If she could rebuild her barricades from the inside, then perhaps she could buy herself more time. Battle meditation proved useful for all manner of talented Force users. Her own Master even tried to impart her wisdom on the practice, though Imogen had been too impatient to successfully utilize it at the time. She may not be at the frontlines of war or in the middle of a duel, but this excruciating invasion of her mind was just as arduous as any other challenging fight. Only difference now… Imogen was on the losing side.
The pressure built up in her head as a thunderous cacophony until she was sure something had to give when suddenly everything went utterly silent and still. Imogen wondered if she had been tortured into unconsciousness or perhaps her interrogator had enough and put his lightsaber blade through her skull before she could realize her end.
“I am relieved that you have held on to some of my teachings.”
Imogen’s eyes snapped open to see the room now completely empty. She glanced around for the source of the voice – a voice she had not heard in many, many years – and found that even her bindings had disappeared. The bounty hunter cautiously rose from the interrogation chair, not trusting whatever vision had clearly been imposed upon her.
“Show yourself,” Imogen commanded, though her tone had a slight waver.
“I have always been here, you simply refused to see.”
Imogen spun around and saw a figure that caused her heart to plummet with enough force to nearly bring her to her knees. Rejna Shúl appeared just as the former Padawan last saw her. Imogen recognized the light brown Jedi robes, the silver hilt at her belt, and that unyielding conviction in her sharp green eyes. A ghost come to haunt her like a painful memory.
“You are a trick,” she weakly accused. Imogen could not decide which would be worse – being right or being wrong.
“I assure you, I am not,” Rejna insisted and placed her hands behind her back. “Listen to your instincts.”
Imogen did not want to, but a dreadful chill in her bones demanded to be felt. The image before her shook her down to her very soul and she knew for certain that not even Vader himself could conjure such a convincing specter of her former Master. Not like this.
Imogen shook her head. The shock made her feel sick. “Why now, after all this time?”
“Because you were not ready to face me.”
“Why should I face you at all? I killed you for a reason,” Imogen snarled. A part of her hoped her rage would chase this spirit away. Had she not done enough unforgivable acts to completely sever whatever connection they had in life and death?
Rejna regarded her patiently, unflinching to the storm of hostility that brewed within her apprentice. “You killed me out of impulse.”
Imogen’s hands trembled and she clenched them into tight fists at her sides, as tight as she could make them. “I would have died if you lived.”
“So here you stand now.” The Jedi Master moved around Imogen in a slow circle, studying her the same way she did the very day they met. Imogen had been so young, she didn’t fully understand her circumstances, but Rejna took stock of what she had to work with. It made Imogen feel like an item being appraised for auction. “A woman. And more powerful than I could have imagined, yet… you still carry the same hatred for me. How long has it been? Nearly twenty years since your blade pierced my heart? Two decades is a long time to hold on to such a burden, Imogen.”
“It is not only hatred I carry,” she responded quietly. Her resolve started to crumble.
“No,” Rejna agreed and came to a stop in front of her former ward. Her eyes softened ever so slightly at the edges. “I sense your grief.”
The mask fell away. Imogen had never acknowledged how the murder committed by her own hands shattered her as much as it mended. How, when the weight lifted off her shoulders at her Master’s last breath, she had been consumed – not by remorse, but by the agony of loss. Imogen tried to ignore it, and when that failed, she used it. She fed it into the crystal that powered her new saber, and with that conduit of her pure hatred, she let it flow unrestrained unto her prey. Yet the grief remained just beneath her rage as steady as her own heartbeat.
“You were all I had.” Uttering those words out loud caused her vision to blur. “That is why I needed to kill you.”
Rejna seemed equal parts pleased and heartbroken at the admission. “I only understood in my final moments that you were my greatest failure.”
It felt like the phantom of her plasma blade burst through Imogen’s chest. She knew the statement to be true, but it made her realize that as much as she resented Rejna, she still always hoped for her praise. Even now, in the face of her own doom, staring into the eyes of her long dead Master, did Imogen wish she could have been different for them both.
Imogen could no longer bear to hold her gaze, but as soon as her face fell with a few stray tears, she felt the gentle hand of her Master rest on her shoulder. It took a long moment, but she found the courage to look up at her once more.
“I failed you, Imogen. You were my greatest pride and I failed you,” she stated earnestly.
Of all the confessions to grace her ears, this was one Imogen never expected. She needed to hear it after all this time, but a part of her will forever be empty. She accepted that fact even before Rejna fell. “It is far too late, Master.”
Rejna nodded solemnly. “Perhaps for me, but you know what you must do.”
“Yes,” she said, her voice hoarse.
“You were always so strong, Imogen.” Her old mentor’s hand moved to caress her cheek, the motherly touch Imogen always longed for and never got to experience. It caused more tears to stream down her cheeks as she clenched her jaw hard enough to nearly crack her own teeth to stifle a sob. “I will always regret holding you back.”

Oh yeah, also doodled up a quick design based on one of my FR dragons. I have two vers because the colors weirded my brain out despite wanting to match the dragon.
Byeah this is the Toxicologist (they/them), a mute poisons and toxins expert working for some rather... shady organization neutralizing paranormal threats! They're also a rather avid card player with a very bizarre deck....

Previous anon here! I totally understand what you mean i have the same issue with my own ocs. So can I ask who's your oldesr oc (you've had the longest) and who's your favorite and why? :3c I wanna hear about them but it's hard to think of specific questions! Sidenote, you inspired me to start reblogging things as inspo for my own ocs!
OH I feel you, I'm the exact same way about not knowing what to specifically ask about other people's OCs lmao it's so hard to think of good questions!
My oldest (current) OC is my ranger, Elyss!! I've been playing her for coming up on EIGHT YEARS, which is admittedly not actually as much as it sounds because the run schedules for all the campaigns I'm in tend to be pretty sparse, ahaha :') She is also still my favorite, my beloved girl... 🥺💕 That's at least partly because I've been playing her for so long and for awhile she was my only dnd character, so I've had a lot of opportunity to think about her and play her and get to know her as a character.
She's a water genasi who was born and raised in a land where genasi are essentially unheard of, so she's spent most of her life fairly rejected and lonely. She ended up (voluntarily) living alone in the woods for something close to ten years, and she has a very nature-inspired True Neutral philosophy, so when we started the campaign with the premise of 'an established group of adventures trying to stop A Bad Guy from Taking Over The World' I had to figure out why she would care about that, and one of the answers was 'well... she loves her friends,' which has informed SO much about everything about her ever since. On a practical level, it means I get to engage with the game even if Elyss wouldn't necessarily want to (eg if the paladin wants to do a dangerous stupid thing to save some villagers, I want to go with him to help keep him safe), but it's also made her really interesting and really emotionally rewarding to roleplay with. I'm fortunate in that all my fellow players in her campaign are amazing AND Elyss has meaningful relationships with most of their characters, so I've been able to explore her navigating those relationships and her own feelings... at the beginning of the campaign, she felt really strongly that her love for her companions was completely one-sided, so had a lot of Issues about needing to be unambiguously useful and never a liability to avoid rejection and losing her right to be a part of the group. Unfortunately the circumstances of this campaign have given her... really severe trust issues to the point of sometimes paralyzing paranoia, BUT she DOES now believe that (most of) her close friends actually care about her in return, so, that's something :') I guess tl;dr without explaining the entire campaign and her entire personal development, she just has a lot of complex feelings and life circumstances that are not only interesting to play and think about but that also just... make me wish for the best for her. She's had a really hard time, so it fills me with joy whenever she gets a little reprieve, I'm overwhelmed on her behalf when things are inevitably really bad for her again, and I'm deeply invested in her path toward hope and growth and a happier, more stable future 🥺💕
All that said, I've gotten to play her a lot less lately, and while she's still my favorite, the margin isn't as wide as it used to be, lol. But I dunno if I could put a finger on the definitive second favorite? It depends on who I've played and/or have been obsessing over the most recently I think, lol. Right at this second that feels like a tossup between Juniper, my druid, and Melliwyk, my wizard; I'm not gonna do another wall of text for each of them for this ask BUT-- June is basically the character archetype I have the softest spot for (sweetheart, awkward, big ol nerd) and I wanna kiss her and give her soup, and Mel is a DIFFERENT archetype I tend to be drawn to (mad science type friendly little wierdo) but she has also developed depth that I wasn't expecting and now I have a lot of Thoughts and Feelings about HER as well. Also, June gives me a good outlet for a lot of soft tenderness, Mel is a good outlet for me in real life being a big fuckin nerd, and Elyss is my single best outlet for just. really loving to be really good at DPS when I'm playing a game kjhkdfhjd
