Wake up... Kaji

The room was quiet, bathed in soft morning light. The heavy curtains let in only a few rays of sunlight, which fell on the black feathers of Kaji's outstretched wings. He lay stretched out on his bed, the blanket pulled loosely over his hips. His breathing was calm, even, and the occasional flicker of his flames suggested he was dreaming. His eyes were closed, his face relaxed - a rare moment when the young man's usually strong presence seemed soft and peaceful.

The door creaked open and his father entered. Touya's posture exuded authority, but his expression betrayed impatience. His turquoise eyes - almost identical to those of his son - looked at the boy who wasn't moving at all. The clock on the nightstand clearly showed that the bus had long since left.

"Kaji!" Touya called, his voice sharp as a knife. No reaction. Touya frowned. His patience was known to be limited, and today his son had already exceeded it. Without another word, he grabbed the mattress and pulled it off the bed frame with a strong tug.

Kaji fell roughly to the ground, his wings instinctively spreading to absorb the impact. "What the hell?!" He opened his eyes wide and looked up at his father in confusion, whose expression only betrayed a mixture of anger and determination.

"You overslept," Touya explained with a threatening undertone that brooked no argument. "The bus is gone and you're lucky I didn't call the fire department because your fire flared up in the dream."

Kaji sat up and ran his hand through his disheveled hair. "No need to be so dramatic! I can manage without the bus." His voice was annoyed, but his tone had a provocative undertone that got Touya riled up.

"Oh really?" Touya crossed his arms as he looked at his son challengingly.

"Yes, really." Kaji stood up, stretched out his black wings with the characteristic blue tinge and flapped them provocative. The draft of air made the curtains flutter. "I'll just fly."

"You're not doing anything!" Touya's voice was sharp, and a blue flicker of flames played around his shoulders. "In case you missed it, Kaji, you're underage. You can't use your Quirk without a license, and I certainly won't let my son act like there are no rules. You want to be a hero? Then start acting like one!"

Kaji stood up to his father, his eyes shining with defiance. "If I want to be a hero, then I'm also willing to accept the consequences of my actions. That's called taking responsibility, right?"

"That's called stupidity." Touya took a step closer, the blue flames on his body extinguished, but his presence remained oppressive. His eyes bored into his son's. "If you continue to be so disrespectful and not take school seriously, you can shove your desire to become a hero up your ass. Do you think I achieved all this by oversleeping and breaking rules?"

Kaji pulled a face, his lips forming a mocking smile. "Perhaps not oversleeping..." He casually swung his wings back and placed his hands on his hips. "But I know for a fact that you were anything but a model student at school."

Touya raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. "What does that mean?"

"That means," Kaji began with mock thoughtfulness, "that I know how many times you've been to the principal because you've gotten into fights." His turquoise eyes sparkled mischievously. "And I also know that you were a heartbreaker before you got together with Mom. No girl was safe from you."

"What? Who tells you such nonsense?" Touya's voice was a mixture of indignation and surprise, but the slight twitch at the corners of his mouth revealed that he felt caught.

"Oh, I have my sources." Kaji leaned forward slightly, his wings framing him like a cloak. "That's not exactly the definition of a model student, or even obedient, Dad."

There was silence for a moment. Touya looked at his son, whose cheeky grin not left his face. Finally, he sighed deeply, his shoulders sank a little, and a hint of humor flashed in his eyes.

"Do you know what your problem is, Kaji?" Touya slowly took off one of his slippers - a pair of soft slippers with worn soles that didn't fit the authority of the number two pro hero. "You talk too much."

“What are you doing?” Kaji asked suspiciously as Touya took off the second slipper and weighed it in his hand.

"A lesson I learned from your grandma," Touya explained dryly before, without warning, attacking Kaji with the slipper.

"Hey! What the...?!" Kaji jumped back, but the first blow hit him lightly on the arm. "Dad! Stop it! You're a pro hero, not a slipper warrior!"

“Pro hero or not, I won’t tolerate disrespect!” shouted Touya as he delivered a series of quick, precise blows with his slippers.

Kaji laughed loudly as he tried to dodge his father's attacks. "This is abuse! I'm calling the Hero Authority!"

"Do that. I'm curious to see what they say when I explain that you were too lazy to take the bus!"

Kaji ducked and ran to the bathroom door, laughing. "Okay, okay! I surrender! I'm going to get ready!"

With a triumphant grin, Touya threw one of his slippers after him. The slipper bounced off the door frame and landed innocently on the floor.

“Hurry up or I’ll throw the second slipper!” Touya shouted after him.

“I’m on my way, you tyrant!” Kaji’s voice was still distorted by laughter as he closed the door behind him.

Touya stood there, one slipper in his hand, the other on the floor in front of him, and shook his head. A slight grin spread across his face as he muttered, "At least he inherited my sense of humor."

Kaji's Music

MHA / BNHA OC

In certain anime, such as Fairy Tail, the main characters have their own songs. I wanted to have something like this for Kaji, I don't think any other OC has something like that, which makes it unique to me.

That's why I played around with Suno and created some instrumental songs with the AI.

Two songs were created where I immediately had things in my head about what would happen and I would like to share that with you!

Song 1

My interpretation

Kaji has the problem that people don't see him as a person. They only see him as the villain Dabi and that he becomes just like him, even though he is completely different.

When I heard the song for the first time, I immediately had a scene in my head where he stands in front of Hawks and makes an emotional announcement that he is aware of his father's actions.

But he also mentions that his father only became like that because Enji ignored him back then and let him fall into the water like a stone that can only sink.

He ends his speech with the words “I won't become like him!” and his determination is so strong that there is no room for contradiction.

My interpretation

This is his fight music.

Thanks to an RP with @SamajiTomiroko on Twitter/x, I had a journey through time in mind.

The thought was buzzing around in my head that Kaji had been thrown into the past by an opponent's quirk. There he joins the league simply because he wants to meet his father.

However, he keeps a low profile so that no one finds out who he really is. He always hides his face behind a mask and a hood because his appearance would immediately give him away. In battle, he does not use his flames so as not to reveal his true identity. So he only relies on his melee combat and speed in combat.

When I first heard the song, the scene of how he might fight Endeavor went through my head, but without his flames, he doesn't stand a chance.

He is faced with the choice of keeping his identity a secret or perhaps saving Himiko or someone else from the League from the heroes. Since he has grown fond of the others, he decides to fight and uses his flames.

The flames of Endeavour are rushing towards him and just before they reach him, he raises his hand, only to use his flames as a shield and freeze the flames of Enji.

Everyone is silent in disbelief as Kaji lands elegantly on the frozen structures of the flames. They only knew blue flames from Dabi and flames who could freeze were completely unknown.

How I came to Kaji

Kaji Black is my OC that I created for my fanfiction. The reason why this character was created was because I wasn't at peace with the ending of Dabi / Touya Todoroki and wanted to create something to compensate for that.

However, I respect the work of Kōhei Horikoshi and refuse to change anything about it... Why should I, it's not my work, but I added something behind the scenes that you didn't see that led to Kaji.

At the age of 23 or 24, it is quite conceivable that Dabi had someone with whom he became intimate. Since I like realism, I used a female OC called Rain Black. Her Quirk is called Dark Phoenix and she controls dark red to almost black flames via her feathers, which can burn anything in seconds. (Almost like Shigaraki's disintegration)

Rain is a European character who works as a mercenary and had to return for a mission. (France, Germany... I'll leave that to the reader where.)

Shortly before she wanted to return, it turned out that she was pregnant. However, that was exactly the time when the last war began in Japan and she stayed in Europe to protect her unborn child. When it was all over, she learned from the media that Touya had been captured and was about to die, so she stayed in Europe.

This is the basic story of Kaji.
