i hate the weird spot i have been when it comes about writing for the past months
#or maybe even a year at this point idfk. i cannot. write. or at least not multichaptered. i want to create an ongoing story#and write chapters and post them and shit!! but my motivation decays super fast regardless of how excited i am to write it.#i legit think is the reason i draw so much--- i have the need to create and a drawing tends to take me two hours and so. maybe three.#obviously it depends on the drawing but. that's the average. writing a single chapter can take me a week; or a long-ish one at least#there's another factor: i don't know who to write about. i try to resign myself to write fanfiction but it does not sparks joy anymore#*sometimes* it does tho. like the dumb wuthering heights saiou au i had in mind; it is fun to think about it.#but rn i have one plot i really like and i'm kind of. this does not fits any of my existing ocs either. what i am supposed to do with this.#and another one with elliot and a guy i created specifically for that story#because i resigned myself i don't have any existing characters to fit that role so i created some guy nate/devlin (name still pending)#but also. my own characters don't spark joy too unless i post it on discord or show it to friends bc nobody on my main platform cares.#and yes this is something i need to work on i'm going to therapy for that but i live off validation#and if people don't pay attention to my shit then i immediately lose motivation and i don't continue with it anymore#like; the one samael/mav story i was so excited to write about. nobody paid attention to it; so i shoved it to drafts#and didn't type a single word again. meanwhile i see the easy way to get attention is writing sa10u rn but. i don't want to.#i see people voting and commenting on my fics of these two and i try to think 'ok that's what people like i HAVE to write about them'#and maybe get a bit of faux-motivation but if i try to do it i end up unmotivated because. that's not what i want actually. so. i die.#negative#very fitting with my pfp

A Word About Character Development: Appearances
So this is a super hot button topic in which opinions are widely varied, and I'm actually kinda afraid to put my thoughts out there. So definitely don't think this post is meant to be dogmatic (btw NONE of my posts are meant to be dogmatic). I actually struggle really badly with writing characters physical appearances, so most of my opinion here comes as a reader.
1. Ditch the numbers: The only time I would ever describe someone by their height and weight would be to the police, and even then it would be their height and clothes size. I would never ever describe one of my friends to another using their size as a description and I hope they wouldn't describe me that way either. Yet for some reason I read descriptions like "She's 5'11", 125lbs" (btw that's probably an unhealthy weight for someone that tall). Reading a description from a friend (or love interest) that way sounds unrealistic.
It doesn't come off any better in the mirror either. How often do you stand before a full length mirror and think about your appearance in numbers?
Exceptions? If your character is especially tall or short their actual height may become relevant (I have an adult MC who is 4'11" and I have mentioned it.) otherwise words like tallish or on the petite side or average all work fine.
2. Instead try proportions: If you must describe your character's body (and you may find you can forgo such a description - l have found many of my favorite authors do) try proportions.
Examples:
'... Her skirt swirled around her ankles in the summer breeze; the vertical stripes drawing attention to her long legs.' (so it's not a great description - told you I struggle--but you get the idea and it is better, IMO, than 5'11", 125)
or "The western cut of the shirt accentuated his broad shoulders, drawing taut across them as he reached up to adjust his bolo tie."
3. Readers don't need full descriptions on page (or chapter, or even part) 1: I think this is a misconception that leads to the numbers and mirror descriptions. Authors seem to feel the reader needs to 'see' the character from the minute they are introduced when in reality what the character is doing is more interesting than what they look like. Plus readers tend to have pretty vivid imaginations so trust me, they aren't going to picture the character as a crash test dummy until you fill them in. If that's what your worried about, that the reader will picture your character differently than you do- well, I hate to say it, but you *might* have to loosen up on that idea a bit. I know you've spent hours plotting every contour of their face and memorized their scars and/or tattoos, and the way the sunlight glints off that one part of their hair, and the idea of anyone seeing them another way is anathema. But it'll be okay. If you work in some descriptive details here and there later the reader will adjust their idea gradually until it matches yours and it will be much more effective than an info dump on page 3.
4. (most) Readers aren't police sketch artists: Maybe I'm just really bad with art (okay no maybe- I'm hopeless at art) but when I read a description like: 'She had a heart shaped face with high cheekbones, a button nose, and hooded brown eyes framed by hundreds of tiny dredlocks...' I have no idea what this character looks like except for eye color and hair. This description may be perfectly clear to those of you who are artists, but I'm going to have to go to goolge images to try and figure it out. (actually I'm probably just going to imagine what I think they might look like my own way and go on). Once again I would never describe my friends like I was talking to the police.
5. Let them Smile: or frown actually. If you want to talk about their face tell me if their cheeks push their lower lids into a squint when they smile or how much their eyebrows close the upper lids when they frown. Describe dimples and scars. Let me know about nervous habits (do they bite their lip or tongue? Cross their eyes in frustration? Can they raise one eyebrow? (and which one or both independently)). These little things provide (to me at least) a much fuller picture than a description of shapes, and they make the character much more 3-dimensional.
6. Please not a clothes-horse: Wedding? Prom? Halloween? Actual superhero? Model actually during a fashion show? Okay then we probably need to know exactly what the character is wearing. Otherwise a vague (or nonexistent) description of their clothing will suffice. In a contemporary story this slows the pace too much, and in a historical work is slows the pace AND feels like you're trying to show off your research. Plus it makes the POV character feel a bit shallow to me if they are always talking about clothes. Tell me they have on jeans and a T-shirt (or their pj's, Or that they changed into their riding habit) and I'm good to go.
Exception: in addition to the above exceptions, if the characters clothing choices are a noted quirk (I have a character who basically collects pajamas), you should mention them, but a brief description will still get the point across. (example: the character I referred to previously will always be wearing a different pair of pajamas in a night scene, but I still don't go overboard with detail ('red plaid flannel', 'princess camo', 'mickey mouse'). The words on a graphic tee are another great example or a collection of eclectic color sneakers. If the outfit requires a multi-sentence description it needs to be a special outfit.
7. Furniture: Furniture descriptions are pretty rare, but I'm still going to mention it quickly. Basically everything I just said about clothes applies to home furnishings too. If you describe the trash can, it needs to be a really special trash can.
8. Building layout: Ooh this is a tough one. I struggle with this as a writer because I literally use like 2 basic blueprints in my head so if I'm not careful everyone's house comes out the same. Obviously you don't want that, but that's probably a rare problem. More commonly I see way too much detail and I get confused. Maps? They are a staple of certain sub genres but I'd rather not see them elsewhere. I would say most scenes are not dependent on the layout of the building so you can probably leave off the turn by turn tour. Action sequences seem most likely to require specific detail about the setup, and 1 method is to have 2 characters planning an attack which will involve going over the description of the building together. If that doesn't work you can have a single character assess the place in their head right before the information becomes relevant. A verbal blueprint in chapter 1 is probably going to be forgotten by the time we get to a fight scene in chapter 15.
But don't forget your characters are human too. (unless they aren't of course). So they might not remember the layout of a multi story building perfectly and realize only after they have made a mistake (oops we were having a major brawl over top of the jewelry store that has motion sensitive alarms and now the cops are here).
Personally I try not to describe any unnecessary rooms - even their location. If you tell me we are at a 3 story mansion, I will assume about 30 rooms even if you only describe 2. If you try to tell me where all 30 rooms are I will probably skip the description and review it if it becomes relevant.
Yikes that was a long post! Hope this helps someone!

Maybe Judai for the ask thing? (ㆁᴗㆁ✿) if that hasn't been done of course ^^
Why I like them/why I don’t
To be honest I didn’t like Judai that much at first. He was cute but other than that he was just an average overpowered character to me and his outgoing persona didn’t really help. The first time I watched GX it was in my native language dub and Judai happened to have the same voice as a character from another show that was extremely annoying, so I wasn’t that fond of him at all. Around the end of the first season, the airing stopped and I continued with English dub and while he was slightly likeable with a different voice I still didn’t like his character at all. But then season 3 happened… and it changed my mind. He felt like an entirely different person and the plot finally started getting interesting. It was like the new season made him start taking things seriously and with each new episode, it felt like he slowly started revealing his true self. And at that point, it finally started making sense why he was so happy and outgoing the first two seasons - he was lonely as a child and card games was the only thing that made him happy, so it makes sense that once he got accepted to school all about card games where he met new friends made him all excited. This was already hinted once in season 2, after his loss to Edo where he could no longer see cards and was convinced he has nothing else to do in Duel Academy so he just left. From all protagonists, Judai has by far the most unique development and from where VRAINS is now, Yusaku is likely to follow Judai’s journey of self-discovery. In a way, both of them are complex characters that are dealing with their breaking points in their own way.
One other thing that I really love about Judai is his ability to talk with Duel Spirits. There have been several characters in other series with the same ability, but no one had as much focus as Judai had. I absolutely loved his connection to Yubel, about how obsessed she became with him to the point of hurting other people and how much she wanted to protect him at the same time. The fact that Judai uses Super Fusion in order to merge them together was a really nice conclusion and in a way, it symbolized the fact that Judai matured.
What I like about their appearance
The fact how normal he looks compared to other protagonists XD. Like seriously all protagonists are either embodiment of rainbows (Yuya and Yuma) or edginess (Yugi, Yusei, Yusaku) and Judai is just an ordinary teenager in a simple school uniform and a puffy hairdo that looks like a Kuriboh.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?
Judai and Jaden sound very similar so I tend to switch them depending on the situation because some of my friends are not familiar with his original name. In my fanfics I use his original name most of the time, but honestly, both versions sound okay and are not that different compared to some other dub names.
OTP
Spiritshipping all the way! Judai X Johan is not only my favourite GX OTP but my second favourite OTP of all Yugioh series! (they are just a little behind Keyshipping and Puzzleshipping). From the first episode where Johan showed up when Ruby and Winged Kuriboh played together and when Judai welcomed Johan to the Duel Academy, I knew there was something special about to happen. And boy was I not ready for this! The way those two dorks interacted with each other, how others described Johan as “Judai with a southern accent” and just every scene where they showed up together - it was a blessing! And when Judai went to look for him and how he sank deeper and deeper in depression while trying to find him was absolutely heartbreaking. And when Johan came back and Judai was instantly better was just so wholesome to watch. In my headcanon they really are more than friends, they just don’t show it that obviously and I’m completely fine with it. Their personal lives shouldn’t interfere with the plot and deep down I believe that they settled down once Judai returned from his travels. In my perfect reality, they founded a school for people who can also talk with the Duel Spirits and the two of them help others control their abilities.
NOTP
I’m not really sure about Fusionshipping… It just doesn’t feel like a ship at all. I already hate Ryou’s overall character since really, he duels just for power. To him, Judai is not even a rival, just a mere opponent that might pique his interest if he is strong enough. Even in the show, he appeared only when the plot demanded him to do so and had little to none motivations other than power. I completely lost respect for him when he said he wanted to duel Supreme King aka. Judai’s alter ego ALL WHILE JUDAI WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND SUFFERING FROM TRAUMA INDUCED FEVER JUST A FEW METERS AWAY FROM HIM. Like dude chill out, not everything is about power. I was so glad Edo called him out on it cuz seriously this dude would be the worst possible boyfriend. It was even worse when he tried to “help” Judai overcome his trauma cuz really he had zero empathy to help someone as traumatized as Judai. If those two were to date, it would either be over fast or would result in a really unhealthy relationship.
OT3
Competitorshipping or Jun X Judai X Johan is actually something I didn’t know I liked. I do ship Judai with both Jun and Johan, but I’ve never really seen all three of them together. This all changed when I got a request as a secret santa to make a story with three of them as a functioning relationship. I wanted to change a request at first since I’m not keen on writing threesomes, but the more I thought about it more I thought it could work. So in my story, I made Jun and Judai into childhood friends that befriend a transfer student Johan and together they become roommates during their college years. After graduation, they separate for a few years, Judai travelling overseas to pursue his career in acting and coming book illustrating, Jun marrying and getting a son and Johan opening his own clinic. Eventually, they all live together again since Judai gets a new job nearby and Jun divorces and gets custody of his son. Johan and Judai help him raise his son and the story continues with Johan and Judai adopting a child (my OC). If you’re interested you can read it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16790146/chapters/39405268 I still have three more chapters to go. While I was writing it, I realized just how much the three of them interact in the anime, especially with all bonding over the fact that they can talk to Duel Spirits. It’s a relationship that could as well work and I’m sure they feel the same way about it.
The favourite card they use
It might be useless, but Winged Kuriboh is by far my favourite monster in the whole GX. It’s simple but gives away just enough nostalgia to make it work. I love how much Judai interacts with it and in a way Winged Kuriboh is his constant companion, providing him comfort whenever it can. I also love how it used to belong to Yugi and was given to Judai because “something was telling him it belongs with him” like Yugi could hear its voice. In my headcanon, Yugi knew Judai was a reincarnation of the Supreme King and gave him Winged Kuriboh so the spirit could help him control his power. Winged Kuriboh is not just a spirit, it is Judai’s partner.
The favourite moment they were in
When Judai merged with Yubel it was like Judai made a huge step in his life. For the first two seasons, he approached his problems with confidence and a grin on his face. He was having fun, not really thinking about his actions. This was all a mask to run away from his past of loneliness and fear. With season 3 the past finally caught up with him and he was forced to face it. Yubel wanted him back after she was discarded and Judai knew it, afraid she would find him again. After seeing his friends fading away, succumbing to Supreme’s King power and being scared of using Fusion, Judai is literally lost of what is he supposed to do. In the end, he finally faces Yubel, claiming all responsibility on himself. It may seem like Judai succumbed to his yandere stalker when he played Super Fusion, but from what I’ve seen it, he did it as a way to apologize. It’s true that it was his parents who sent Yubel to space and he couldn’t do anything about it, but for someone who has a superhero deck, this was Judai’s heroic sacrifice. He was scared and unsure of what could happen, but in that single moment, he made a very mature decision. He knew Yubel would only stop once the two of them are together again and he did it so his friends would be saved. This was when he truly acted as a hero, giving everything up to save someone who has been putting him in so many dangerous situations, because when he forgave Yubel he was ready for the true battle.
Least favourite moment
A basically entire first and second season when he acted like the way overpowered character. I know this was necessary for his later character development, but some episodic plotlines and duels were just plain stupid and completely unnecessary considering how many of them were there already.
Would I fuck, marry or kill them
How about if he adopts my child OC? XD Yeah I would definitely marry this dork. He is sweet, childish and full of energy and at the same time he is mature and knows how to handle the situation. In my slice-of-life headcanon he is an actor and comic book artist, living with his partner Johan and together they raise their shy adoptive son. I think he would make a great dad and would be great with kids in general, like organizing birthday parties, babysitting and having art workshops with children.

Three Houses Main Verse
Before you ask, I’m still going to be keeping the notes of this verse; this will just be moved to a side/alt 3H verse.
Since I’m going to cover as much info as I can about this verse in a single post, all information will be posted under the cut, and will include spoilers for the game.
Unlike in the now-alternate Three Houses verse, in which he is a native of Faerghus, Anri’s presence in Fódlan is explained the same way as his presence in Askr during the events of Heroes, as with most of the first generation characters from Genealogy of the Holy War in Heroes: in his own world, Anri is dead- murdered at the hands of Naeva, reduced to naught but ashes by her flame. The events of Awakening play out as usual.
Shortly before the events of the game take place- a couple of moons, at best- Anri is found unconscious outside of a village in Faerghus by a squad of the Knights of Seiros, where he is nursed back to health. He’s shocked to discover that the common language of Fódlan is seemingly identical to that of Ylisse- and even more shocked to discover, as a result of an errant conversation about his ‘unusual blade’ that no one else could seemingly wield, that Falchion remains by his side. After assisting the knights in defending the village against a bandit attack, Anri accepts an offer to return with them to Garreg Mach Monastery, with an invitation into the Knights of Seiros, when the knights notice how, for a man only in his late 20s, he fights like a seasoned warrior. He is inducted as a Holy Knight, though no doubt many are suspicious, especially Rhea and Seteth themselves; these suspicions will only worsen when it’s discovered that Anri has an undiscovered ‘Crest’- in reality, simply the brand of the Exalt (not that the people of Fódlan know any better).
In order to hide his temporal nature, Anri obfuscates his lack of knowledge of Fódlan as being a result of memory loss, a fact which he would only confess to either Byleth or Professor Hanneman during an A-support. That being said, he’s incredulous upon discovering nothing about his home in any of the books in the academy’s library- no Ylisse, no Plegia, no Archanea, no Jugdral, no Naga. This is his major motivator in determining which routes Anri will be available in during Part 2, as he comes to despise the Church of Seiros, even if he gains companions amongst its Knights.
During Flayn’s kidnapping, Anri will most likely be considered the second most likely person to be the Death Knight, as he will speak very little about himself of his origins, though his name will obviously be cleared Jeritza’s disappearance after Flayn and Monica have been rescued. From this point onwards, Anri will be available for recruitment by Byleth, and requires that Byleth be Level 15 like the professors and most of the other Knights.
Following the Flame Emperor reveal, Anri will be available for the defence of Garreg Mach during Chapter 12 on the Blue Lions and Golden Deer, and will stay available for all of Part 2 in these routes. Should Byleth side with Edelgard, Anri will follow, much like Shamir and Alois do if they are recruited, and will be available for the Assault on Garreg Mach; if Byleth sides with the Church, he will still partake in the defence of the Monastery, but will desert from the Knights shortly afterwards, considering his service with them at an end- the same occurs if Byleth sides with Edelgard and Anri is not recruited by this point.
During the timeskip, in Azure Moon and Verdant Wind, Anri will likely be landed by Dimitri/Claude, respectively, and resign from the Knights of Seiros. In addition, he is pro-Dimitri/pro-Faerghus, and will resist Cornelia and the Imperial occupation in Azure Moon and the pro-Imperial lords of the Alliance in Verdant Wind. In Crimson Flower, Anri will instead become a general of the Imperial Army.
In Silver Snow, or if unrecruited in Crimson Flower, Anri will be the boss of a paralogue in which he is discovered in an old, abandoned (but still standing) fortress, having become a mix of army/cult leader in an attempt to spread the teachings of Naga, having raised a sizable enough following to draw attention from either the Church or the Empire. Upon being defeated by Byleth, he can either be executed or spared (or recruited in Crimson Flower), the latter of which has Anri vanish from Fódlan history after this point.
As a unit, Anri will be recruited as a Paladin, as is his default class in any other verse, with high Str and Def, above-average Dex, Chr, and HP, average Spd, below average Lck and Mag, and low Res. He is proficient in Swords, Riding, Lance and Authority, with weaknesses in both Reason and Faith Magic, Heavy Armour and Flying, but a Budding Talent for Faith Magic. During meals, he prefers savoury, bitter, and spicy foods; enjoys choir practice (despite his initial weakness), and cannot cook to save his life. His Lost Items include Handwritten Lyrics, a ‘Strange Book’ (his holy book of the Naga Faith), and a Locket (inside which is a miniature portrait of Emmeryn, painted when she was an only child).
Falchion will act akin to a Hero's Relic, but does not have the exact same properties; for example, whereas actual Hero's Relics deal field damage to wielders without a sufficient Crest, Falchion can be hypothetically wielded by anybody else, but the blade will be dulled for anybody but Anri, giving Falchion 1-2 Might at best. In Anri's hands, Falchion will have 15 Might and give him access to Aether as a combat art, which costs 4 durability and has the same affect as the skill as in previous main series games- two attacks, the first restoring health equal to 50% of damage dealt, and the second halving the opponent's Def. The 'Crest of the Exalt' works akin to the Heroes incarnation of Aether, with the effects combined into one attack, but at a lesser value- either 20 or 25%, whichever is better balanced. Anri's personal skill is Crusader's Ward, functioning almost exactly the same as it does for Sigurd in Heroes, with the activation rate being: (Dex + Def or Res depending upon which stat is targeted)/2.
Pre-timeskip, Anri’s face and hairstyle remain unchanged from his standard verses, though his armour changes to a set more befitting of a Paladin in the Knights of Seiros, and follows the general Fódlan style, with an in-universe rumour/theory amongst some being that he’s possibly distantly related to House Fraldarius. Unlike most non-student characters, Anri’s appearance does change post-timeskip; he has since reverted back to his Ylissean Paladin armour that he wore as Exalt, and remains clean-shaven, though his hair has grown out in a long ponytail in order to emulate his ancestor, Seliph- it’s debatable whether or not the look suits him. Anri’s two most likely Master Classes are either Holy Knight or Bow Knight, with him fought as a Holy Knight during his Paralogue.
Anri will have platonic paired endings with Professor Hanneman, the House Leaders (depending upon the chosen route), and Dorothea, and B-Supports with Ferdinand, Felix, and Manuela. His solo ending will have him accept his death in the Awakening world, with no hope of return, and will settle down and remarry. In addition, he would be a hypothetical S-Support for a female Byleth, and possibly a romantic paired ending with Catherine in Azure Moon and Verdant Wind, but as of writing I currently don’t have plans for either of these ships.

ok, so the writer as memes. I want all the answers. ALL. OF. THEM.
Here you go, @everlarkingjoshifer! Thanks for the ask, I loved doing this!
I answered some of the questions in previous asks so, to simplify, I added the links here.
1. Favorite place to write.
2. Favorite part of writing. Plotting and outlining. I just let my mind wander, coming up with scenarios and possibilities.
3. Least favorite part of writing. Second guessing the choices I make, followed by all those pesky questions that sometimes creep into my mind.
4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?
5. Books or authors that influenced your style the most. THG trilogy, obviously, that’s the universe that got me into fan fiction in the first place. But Graham Greene has also had a great impact on my writing.
6. Favorite character you ever created.
I haven’t really created many original characters, but there’s this girl from D1 who will make an appearance in WIWTTW. I like her a lot. I might even write an outtake from her POV.
7. Favorite author.
8. Favorite trope to write.
9. Least favorite trope to write.
10. Pick a writer to co-write a book with and tell us what you’d write about. I’d love to write something with Mary Hoffman. I love her “Stravaganza” books. It would be awesome to work on something like that. In the fan fiction world, I’d love to do something with @notanislander. Yes, Carrie, you! I think we’d have a great time figuring out a story. Probably something about Everlark not getting together right away ;)
11. Describe your writing process from scratch to finish.
A. Have an idea (usually these come when I’m watching/reading something that inspires me, or while I’m in the shower.
B. Write down the basics.
C. Fill in the gaps in the plot (sometimes I even include bits of dialogue into this step)
D. Divide de plot into segments (chapters). E. Write, aka develop each one of the points in the outline.
12. How do you deal with self-doubts? Depends on how much of the story I have. Sometimes I ask someone to read my stuff and comment. But mostly I just clench my jaw and hit the “post” button.
13. How do you deal with writers block? Sometimes I go back to reread stuff I’ve written, or I go over the plots I have stored to see if something catches my eye. I also ask for prompts from other blogs or participate in writing challenges. @promptsinpanem, @everlarkficexchange, and @everlarkbirthdaydrabbles have all been great for me, having an idea and a due date pushes me to get my act together.
14. What’s the most research you ever put into a book? I haven’t done a lot of research yet. But I always try to check small facts here and there.
15. Where does your inspiration come from? Most of my inspiration comes from THG trilogy. Everything I’ve posted so far is fan fiction and most of it is either canon compliant or in Panem. So that entire universe has proven to be a great source of inspiration for me.
16. Where do you take your motivation from? Have you ever reread something you wrote and wondered where those words or ideas came from? I’m constantly surprised by some of the passages I’ve written and I’m curious to see what else I can come up with. That curiosity is what drives me to keep on writing. And, on the days when that isn’t enough, the comments and reviews from my readers also stop me from giving up.
17. On average, how much writing do you get done in a day?
18. What’s your revision or rewriting process like? Slow. Basically I read and reread what I have. This is where most of my insecurities creep up on me. Sometimes I’ll change a single sentence many times, only to discover that the best version was the first one.
19. First line of a WIP you’re working on.
Gale Hawthorne couldn’t take his eyes off of her. Her blond hair, loosely tied in a messy bun at her nape, shone like spun gold under the relentless summer sun.” (Strawberry Swing my submission to this year’s @mores2sl collection)
20. Post a snippet of a WIP you’re working on.
21. Post the last sentence you wrote in one of your WIP’s.
“It looks great. The ground floor looks like one of the houses from the old merchant quarter.” Looking out into the street, Haymitch added, “I hope you’re prepared for a big shock, a lot has changed since you left.” (Why I Went to the Woods)
22. How many drafts do you need until you’re satisfied and a project is ultimately done for you?
Depends. Usually, my first draft is little more than a simple outline. Sometimes my second draft fells complete but, most times, it takes three drafts to add all the details and points that I want into a story.
23. Single or multi POV, and why? I like multi POVs because they give you allow a deeper understanding of what’s happening in the story. I like exploring the different sides of every story.
24. Poetry or prose, and why? Prose. My brain simply doesn’t compute poetry.
25. Linear or non-linear, and why?
26. Standalone or series, and why?
27. Do you share rough drafts or do you wait until it’s all polished? Sometimes I share rough drafts but I try to polish as much as possible before showing my drafts to anyone.
28. And who do you share them with? I have a handful of betas I rely on from time to time.
@burkygirl, @xerxia31, @thegirlfromoverthepond, @everlarkingjoshifer, @titaniasfics, @pinksnailsaver, and @randomnoteforfuturereference have all come to my aid at one point or another.
29. Who do you write for? Me!
30. Favorite line you’ve ever written.
Wow, that’s a difficult question! This is the first one that came to mind:
Anyone watching would have noticed how they mirrored each other, flustered and humming with nervous energy. But no one was watching, and they were so consumed with each other’s presence they failed to notice the reciprocity in each other’s gaze. (One Victor CH9)
31. Hardest character to write. Gale Hawthorne.
Maybe it’s because I’m nothing like him, or because Gale’s Window was my very fist fic. But I’ve always had a hard time channeling him.
32. Easiest character to write.
It depends on the day and the story. For the most part, I enjoy writing Peeta. He’s usually easier than Katniss. And I absolutely loved writing Haymitch! Can’t wait to do it again.
33. Do you listen to music when you’re writing? Not if I’m alone. Sometimes I write during my commute, or while the hubs is watching TV, so I use music to block out the noise.
34. Handwritten notes or typed notes? Typed. Always.
35. Tell some backstory details about one of your characters in your story Capitol Life. Both Katniss and Peeta are recruited by Haymitch to become spies for the rebels.
Peeta has to fake his death in order to escape District 12.
36. A spoiler for story Why I Went Back to the Woods. Peeta and Katniss will run into each other in the woods.
37. Most inspirational quote you’ve ever read or heard that’s still important to you. Here are two:
Procrastination is the thief of time. Charles Dickens. It’s simple, but it reminds me of what I’m losing when I just let time slip by.
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. Oscar Wilde. A beautiful reminder that we have to look beyond what’s there and strive for something better.
38. Have you shared your outline of your story One Victor with someone? If so, what did they think of it? Yes, I have. They thought it was good but suggested a few changes for the ending. I haven’t reached that part yet, but I’ll probably follow the advise they gave me.
39. Do you base your characters of real people or not? If so, tell us about one.
I always try to keep my characters as close to canon as possible, but my version of Peeta in Weekend Getaway is heavily inspired by someone I met when I was a teenager.
40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why? As a reader I love both. As a writer… Fanfiction, at least for now. Who knows what the future holds.
41. How many stories do you work on at one time? Honestly, I can’t really focus on more than one story at a time. That’s why my WIPs progress so slowly. If I get distracted by a new project I put everything else on hold while I finish the new thing.
42. How do you figure out your characters looks, personality, etc. The characters I’ve created so far exist within THG universe, so I’ve based my descriptions on information from the books.
43. Are you an avid reader? YES!
44. Best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. “Describe what the character is feeling as if you want the reader to feel the same thing.“
45. Worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten. An anonymous comment from someone who clearly didn’t even finish reading the chapter and who had issues with the relationship portrayed in the fic in question. The truth is that I shared the reviewer’s POV. If they had finished reading, they would have seen that the characters were discussing those exact issues.
The way it was the review was angry and useless.
46. What would your story One Victor look like as a tv show or movie? Here and Here are two inspiration boards for it.
47. Do you start with characters or plot when working on a new story? Since I always use the same characters… plot.
48. Favorite genre to write in. Romance, humor, suspense.
49. What do you find the hardest to write in a story, the beginning, the middle or the end? The middle. The beginning is always exciting and the end feels like you’ve accomplished something. But the middle is no man’s land.
50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had. Honestly…. I’m drawing a blank…
51. Describe the aesthetic of your story Capitol Life in 5 sentences or words.
Let’s see… cold, dreary, desolate, opulent, soft. I know it sounds a bit contradictory, but the story is divided into two sections. It’s probably easier to check out my inspiration board for it.
52. How did writing change you? It’s made me happier. It’s allowed me to get in touch with myself. I get to explore my thoughts and my imagination in a way I didn’t before. It’s liberating.
53. What does writing mean to you? It’s a challenge. The challenge of finding the right words to tell a good story. I don’t always succeed, but I really enjoy trying.
54. Any writing advice you want to share? Write to find peace, to find freedom, to fill your life with fantasy and adventure, with romance. Write to make yourself smile.
