Howard Hurd’s son was born in Hollywood, California, USA on Wednesday, December 31, 1953 (Baby Boomers Generation). He is 68 years old and is a Capricorn. ErvHurd learned broadcast engineering from his father, Howard Hurd, who was a radio and TV pioneer. Their family home in suburban Boston was one of the first in the United States to have a video monitor.
He has a great career, which has spanned more than 40 years at WGBH and its affiliated production company, Boston Productions. At WGBH he served as technical director for many nationally distributed programs, including "ZOOM" and "Say Brother." At BPN he was the technical director for the nationally syndicated series "About Art" with Paul Tsongas. He also worked on "Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie," which is carried on PBS and The Cooking Channel.
Achievements
In addition to his work at BPN and WGBH, he has directed many productions for corporate clients. He is also an accomplished photographer; his work has been shown in exhibits at the New England School of Photography, the Danforth Museum of Art, the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University, and other galleries around New England.
He is a three-time Emmy Award winner and ten-time nominee for his work on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Oscars. His first Emmy win was for directing the 65th Annual Academy Awards in 1993. He won his second Emmy for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1995 and his third for The Oscars in 2009. Hurd earned his tenth Emmy nomination for his work on "The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards" in 2013. He was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010 and 2012 for directing the 43rd and 44th Daytime Emmy Awards shows.
