Yeah, Western ideology does very much enjoy infecting others as best it can. The USA education system is one of the most divided if I'm not mistaken? Divided in like, the quality of your education can vary wildly depending on where you live instead of a standard being approximately the same throughout schools. People dont choose where they are born and must live (until they move out) but it seems absurd that being born on one side of a city versus the other could be the difference between getting an education that'll prepare you for high school and/or post high school, and one that prepares you for the ever-shrinking factory worker role.
I'm from canada personally and I won't say that ours is much better (our schools are entirely modelled into preparing people for factory work. That was the original goal of our schools. Learn to stand in line, follow the bells, etc. Out high schools (in some provinces) are split into two ""tracks"". University (called academic) and college (called applied). Applied teaches you the absolute basics and pretty much prepares people for factory work. Academic focuses on teaching analytical thinking, critical thinking, essay writing and applying thought to ideas. Totally definitely totally a fair system, because you cant go from applied to academic but you can go academic to applied (applied versions of the classes dont count as prerequisite to academic classes. Basically locks people into a worse education. Theres also a big judgement culture on getting into university because college is considered lesser and for idiots because in canada university is theory and thought focused and colleges are skill and applied knowledge focus)
I think you make good points and it definitely is most obvious in USA where literacy is declining. Unfortunately it happens here in canada too, people just dont talk about us much lol
I think part of it, especially with the us is control. It is a LOT easier to control people if they struggle with critical thinking. Not teaching people how to find information and formulate opinions without (much) outside influence means it is a ton easier just to tell people what they should and shouldnt do. Obviously this thing is bad if it hurts kids, right? But they arent taught how to consider how would it hurt them? Why? What are the alternatives? If kids are hurting why are they pushing other laws and whatnot to hurt them more? Etc etc
Which... not to get political because it isnt quite the best area to bring up randomly, but just going to mention the rise of facism and decline in critical thinking and media literacy are oddly in sync in the US. And there have been studies (here is a quick link but theres tons of articles and papers you can find quick https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.washington.edu/provost/2018/04/23/fake-news-and-misinformation-why-teaching-critical-thinking-is-crucial-for-democracy/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiB89mKnLmAAxUyFzQIHeOnAgYQFnoECAEQAg&usg=AOvVaw2s4TP6UzreLCWaEozRvTPx) that link a lack of critical thinking to people being more firm in biases, more susceptible to misinformation and propaganda, and to a lack of wanting to learn (stagnant beliefs).
Just. To point out that it might be partially not just people being addicted to phones, though that is a big factor. It's one of those situations where you need to ask "who might benefit" if it seems like there are no positives.
Anyways, it is really sad that people aren't being encouraged to think, really if you think about it? Social media is a lot of parroting back and blending in, making your literal person a brand, and echo chambers. Younger folks especially are losing out on those in person social interactions as most is replaced online, which means people arent getting together to chat as much. There is always something else, which limits a person's opportunities to get deep, debate in a risk free space, and just be around other people.
Its complicated and sad, and really weird that the supposed age of information brought about a general decline in thinking capabilities.
We have something similar too with colleges and universities and maybe there is some bias but not big and honestly more people talk how learning skills is more useful that just whatever they do in universities xD
And yeah it's logical for facsist regime to want dumb people. A person can know that some things are bad, but not because WHY it's bad. And that's how we get progressive young people eagerly support censorship. Indirectly support fascism. And when they will notice what is happening it will be too late. (and it's sad to see them ruining what previous generations were fighting for)
Internet definetely also desentitised people? With so much information about the world, there is less compassion. People have no problem being horrible to others because the screen separates them.
It's a mess. Honestly I think it was a mistake letting kids into social media. They are too impressionable and there is too many bad people who will take advantage of it. And it's harder for parents to keep track of dangerous people around their kids(not to mention parents who don't care what their kids do on internet in general). But it's still complicated, because internet also gives kids community they can't get in real life =(

I spent 2 years developing a parasocial relationship with a guy I saw on my fyp. I know everything about his family, friends, his friends’ friends, his gf (and her friends) and ex gf (and her friends), basically everybody he follows on instagram. He doesnt even live in the same country as me, i know where he lives, his hometown, his parents, his interest, and his playlists. I woke up everyday for him. To check if he posted anything new. In the middle of a 2 year long depressive episode, he got me to wake up at 6 in the morning (time zone differences) and up for my 7 am classes. I spend all my time daydreaming of him and wishing I had the life his girlfriend has. Even if you take him out of the equation, she has everything I want. She’s 21, and completely moved out of her parents place, and into LA to support his career in modeling. She an artist, a creative, a lovely girl or atleast somebody that would warrant dozens of girl friends calling her an angel everytime she posts something. And that may not seem like a lot but as somebody living in a small town in a province in a SEA country, thats all I could ever ask for in life. Literally just employment, financial independence, a place of her own and she gets to share all that with her loving boyfriend. With all the stalking and sasaeng behavior I know I dont deserve to ask for anything but forgiveness atp but I’m so fucking jealous I could feel it in my chest. It eats at me every day for 2 years now I’ve lost so much weight I been look physically ill with supposedly no reason everyone around me is concerned and they want me to see a nutritionist but that not the problem the problem is i’m sick in the head and a jealous hateful bitch with nothing going on in my life but to obsess and stalk over two strangers who dont know I exist. I just want to have my own life so bad I’m sick of waiting things to get better it needs to start getting better and soon. The only thing I find comforting is lurking on his ex gf’s accounts bc maybe if she can move on I can move on too.

i'm sorry you have had to deal with this feeling for so long and i'm sorry things are so hard, for real. i think it's ok to accept jealousy as a natural emotion, just like sadness or anger or hurt, and you don't have to crucify yourself for feeling it. it's alright that it's there. you can choose how you respond to it, even if practicing doing that takes a long time and progress is slow. that being said, it sounds like you're very self-aware about the fact that this has been having a really detrimental impact on your mental health and that you have been crossing boundaries in order to cope with processing that envy, which obviously isn't great. but you're not doomed to be stuck in that place forever. you can work on it, you put yourself first, even if it's exhausting and you don't want to and your life doesn't look the way you want it to look. it is completely normal to want love, financial stability, a place of your own - and you are just as deserving of all of that as this girl is. obviously, we all have wildly different lives, and some people are born into drastically better situations than others, but so much of the toxicity of parasocial relationships lies within the fact that social media is a complete fabrication, a smoke screen. even if these people do have things you want, which is totally understandable, comparing their performance to the world to your lived reality is never going to get you anywhere. and i think we all know that on some level, yet we often fall into that trap anyway, but grounding yourself in that daily may begin to shift your perspective over time.
do you think it would be at all possible to begin limiting your exposure to this guy and his girlfriend online? it sounds like you've developed a real dependency on living vicariously through them and watching their lives, and i'm not saying you have to give that up at all at once. i'm just asking you to consider maybe setting small goals with yourself regarding how much time you actually spend on these people - who are, like you said, total strangers really. it may be a good idea to start working on treating them as such, bit by bit. it seems like you have people in your life who care about you and who want you to be okay, who have noticed that something isn't right with your mental health lately. that's a good sign. whether you can see it or not, you are loved and seen exactly as you are. would you consider talking to someone you trust about what is going on? i know it can feel sort of embarrassing, and you don't have to go into detail about it, but like. just being honest about how unhappy you are with the way things are and having someone listen to that and take it in might be a really good place to start. i get that that's a big step, but i hope you know reaching out is always an option. you don't have to deal with this on your own. rather than a nutritionist, i think it may also help to talk to your family about getting a therapist or speaking with a mental health professional. i know there is a lot of stigma surrounding that, but at this point i think you need to see it as a form of treatment to regain your mental and physical health. having a professional guide you through the intensity of these feelings by listening to you and recommending specialised coping mechanisms can make such a difference. again, i know that's a lot. but i hope you never close yourself off to the idea of it all together, because there's truly no shame in seeking support.
by the way, as a sidenote, i'm not saying it's unreasonable to be jealous of extremely privileged people when you are relatively disadvantaged. like i said at the start, it's completely natural to resent those who seem like they are in the position to enjoy a level of comfort and fulfilment the rest of us have to fight to experience, if we ever even get to. and it fucking sucks. it fucking sucks to be single and exhausted and to feel so unloved. but i think it will do you good to really try focusing on what is actually in your control, what you can actually make of the material reality around you again. no, it may not ever look like dating this specific guy and having an apartment in LA at 21, but there is still a worthwhile life to live outside of that. there is still love around you, and experiences to be had. it may not feel like much consolation from the place you are in right now, but i do think it is a comforting truth. there are many ways to make your world feel more manageable. you said it feels like you have nothing going on in your life so you have to stalk and obsesses over these random people, and that's exactly why i think taking yourself away from the phone screen or the computer screen just a few times a day to focus on what is actually going on around you and where you can find a support network would be ideal for you at this point. i know it's hard, but this guy really is just Some guy. he's not the answer to your life's problems, or the solution to issues with your mental health. he is, at most a convenient person to project that stuff onto. if his ex-gf can get over him, you can get over the idea of him. with time, patience, external support and most importantly - self forgiveness. envy eats me up inside often, too. i get it. and it doesn't make you a bad person. i hope you're able to find the help you need, and i'm sorry for rambling so much. please take it easy. sending a lot of love your way. x

Aí youre so mean really you don’t have to keep reminding me that you won’t reciprocate can’t you let me live in my delusions without interruption
From the people I’ve interacted with or seen on yanblr they’ve all been white but again I dont talk to people on here really
I’m so very very happy now. I know you say you don’t see many people asking to be scolded so that means I’m different sorta hehehe I know that doesn’t mean you haven’t experienced it but I fit in a minority group therefore I win. I think even if you made me cry I’d still wouldn’t care
I’m jealous of you and college I want to go to college and experience that life and have goals and aspirations but I don’t have any and it makes me sad sometimes I hope Im I’m not wasting my time
I also feel like I’m sharing too much about myself now so I have to be careful just in case you find out who I am
Don’t look for me I’ll be embarrassed okay? Im sure you won’t anyways but just to be on the safe side @_@
🌾
I won’t remind you if you truly don’t want me to, but I feel that it would only hurt more to fall deeper into a delusion and then have to get forcibly ripped from it over and over again. And I say that from a bit of personal experience, I would rather not have you suffer more.
I am not going to look for you if you do not wish for me to do so. You aren’t sharing too much. And I am sure you’re not wasting your time with whatever you are doing now. You are existing and living and growing more with each passing day: I wouldn’t consider that a waste.
You could always decide go to college in the future if you want to. Obviously I don’t know your situation financially or otherwise, but if you really want to have that experience, there are many ways to go about that.
You don’t need to already have set goals or aspirations either: I certainly don’t. Neither do a lot of people. I have mainly been fumbling around and finding things that spark some semblance of serotonin most of my life, and I think that is a valid purpose in of itself.
Sorry for getting preachy and giving unsolicited advice.

HEY i dont know who else to talk to about this but; what if, mr curtain got adopted instead of mr benedict. i feel like mr curtain would still be a controlling ass but instead of making it the whole worlds problem hed be chiller about it, since there isnt that moment of 'oh the one person i cared about abandoned me. time to stop caring about literally everyone'. mr benedict would probably be ok?? he wouldnt be exactly the same but hed still be kind and friend-shaped. very sad about his brother leaving? yes! but understanding that sometimes life really do be like that, and that hed certainly see his brother again someday. (also!! i think that baby curtain would most likely speak up about the family adopting his brother too) (anyway im gonna stop before i write a novel about this)
OH BOY LONG KIND OF INCOHERENT RANT AHEAD
i think i've said this before and i firmly stand by it: if their positions were swapped, and curtain had gotten adopted and never came back (although i don't know if nicholas would have asked him to, he probably still would have asserted he would--although to be fair, i--you know what, let's get to that in a second*) then "nathaniel" would not have become "mr benedict" and "nicholas" would not have become "mr curtain".
things would be different, sure--curtain likely wouldn't have had such deep seated issues with abandonment/rejection, so he probably wouldn't have become the man we see in the show today. (*as i was saying earlier, i do think that like, it's more likely nathaniel would have attempted to come back, as he doesn't have a reason to feel stifled the way nicholas did, but two things: one, even considering this, he still easily could have failed. he's a smart twelve-year-old, but he's a twelve-year-old. if they didn't have room for two, even twins, in the first place, it seems unlikely they'd be willing to take in another only a few months later. not to mention, would he be willing to give up his ultimate goal, getting adopted, to run away back to the shitty orphanage to be with his brother (even presuming that work) whomst he kind of seems to consider is below him? idk. two: it's still very possible, if you want to preserve the swap here, he would have simply decided his brother was dead weight/he was better off/didn't need him. after all, he almost didn't get adopted because of him, and he'd probably be fine!)
but like one thing that i think defines their difference as characters isn't "benedict got adopted = he's kind, curtain didn't = he's hurt and therefore mean" but rather the choices they make in response to their environments. obviously the adoption changed things--curtain probably developed like ten more issues lbr, and benedict now has a lot of guilt over letting himself have that which he seems to be lowkey punishing himself for, but like. i think ultimately, they'd both be pretty similar. i think curtain was always kind of selfish and superior feeling, not to mention the control issues (likely linked to basically having If I Feel Emotionally Vulnerable I Become Physically Vulnerable disease, ouch) are still going to be there. so maybe he isn't pushed as far as the emergency, but honestly, i doubt he'd go a similar route to mr benedict, driven by kindness and compassion and wanting to help people. he'd probably still just be some famous rich inventor, best case scenario not particularly aiming at anything evil but not really caring about helping either. it's not that he's inherently a bad person, but i think he'd want to control the people around him, be acknowledged/validated as super smart, and just kind of live comfortably.
while mr. benedict, if abandoned and "betrayed".... and considering the context, it does feel different--nicholas wanted to leave because he felt like his brother was controlling him all the time, and at his parents house now felt safe, at peace, and free to be himself. nathaniel doesn't have those goals--although he does want a quiet, clean place rather than the orphanage, so he's still not like Entirely Unsympathetic, but if we're going full swap and he, too, didn't go back for mr benedict on purpose--again i mean i'm not sure he could have if he tried but--than it'd be because of something along the lines of "he drags me down, i will get further without him, why should i give up what *i* earned for him? we love each other and will be happy if only one of us (read: me) gets adopted, right? ANYWAY SORRY back to mr benedict, i feel like in that scenario he also wouldn't react the same way. for one, even in that scene ("it should have been me" "i know" "what do they even see in you" "i don't know") they both expected that if someone were to choose between them, they'd choose nathaniel. i think he'd just be resigned. i mean, even as a grown up the man has self-esteem issues and that's in the timeline where he WAS chosen over his brother (although that might also have to do with the guilt? but not purely, i think) like he consistently devalues his own life/and safety while prioritizing others (which, while arguably admirable, is also really sad) so like. i genuinely think he wouldn't be that far off from where he is in canon. it's hard to say considering i am judging off a version of events where he was adopted, but i just don't think he's the kind of person who holds grudges, or would be upset at his brother for prioritizing himself. (and to be fair, i can also draw off the books version of the character, who also grew up alone in an orphanage and wasn't adopted--prequels near-adoption aside--who still grew into a very similar character, so i think it's fair to say this is accurate.)
so overall, i think curtain would just be kind of a less extreme version of the person we see today--probably still kind of manipulative, but not as severely as to create the emergency. he might be a slightly better dad (we can hope! although he may never have adopted SQ, to be fair) and better person, but more by like [lopsided gold star] you didnt do a war crime! standards
mr benedict, similarly, would have less guilt (and possibly higher self esteem??) and like. having grown up with less resources (presumably? it was unclear how rich the family who adopted him was, they had a big house and lots of books but could only afford one kid, so that implies to me like, they're fine financially speaking but not exactly Wealthy? but he still would have more support and all) he might like, have had more trouble with certain things, like schooling or something? but i think overall he'd still be the same kind, compassionate man we see today. although, actually, the last decade or so he's spent fighting the emergency with that Mission probably didn't happen, so like. i don't know how that would change him--we do see rhonda and number two talking about like "we haven't seen him like this since that engineering talk, i still have a vhs of it, it's nice to see the old mr benedict back" so without the emergency + his brother's betrayal he might also just be happier and less tired and dedicated to passion projects and helping people instead of this world saving mission?? but also would he like. have ever met his close friends/family??? probably not. so he might also be alone. (or maybe he made other close friends/family, or met them in weird unrelated ways--but like, realistically, they met in extraordinary circumstances, and they're all this weird collection of equally bizarre and competent brilliant idiot geniuses, so like. hmmm...)
of course, for more radical speculation, you could say hey! if curtain got raised by loving parents maybe they got him some fuckin therapy and emotional support for those issues! maybe he grew into a more well-adjusted adult! and honestly, that's possible, but hard to imagine, because curtain's character is so goddamn unhinged and bizarre to the core. i mean they both kind of are but in opposite directions, but still. maybe he would have become a better person who made better choices??? maybe???? seems fake but ok
equally strange, i suppose it's possible mr benedict would be upset/bitter, which again, i find kind of hard to imagine, but even so, i don't think he'd ever go the route curtain did. he wouldn't want to hurt people or control them, that's not really his motivation here, he'd just be like... less likely to cooperate during a reunion, and more likely to be quite sad about it. upset, and not wanting to let himself be.
oh oh oh and also how do you think this would affect the REUNION like.......... mr benedict wouldnt be as angry/bitter the way curtain is i don't think, but i mean. it's still gotta hurt, there's gotta be feelings there. and it's not like he can't get angry/upset at all, of course, so i imagine seeing his brother again would stir up some shit. but i think he's also a lot less stubborn on that front, so they'd be more likely to talk it out--although curtain (who actually. probably didn't change his name, and i doubt mr benedict did, either, so like, it's very possible the reunion isn't near as delayed) might refuse to admit wrongdoing and continue to be Himself so. hm.
BUT ANYWAY, ultimately, i think mr benedict is just. a kind person. not inherently through genetics or something, but that's how he responds to things, he's generally kind and understanding, we see this before the adoption (like with the story about tommy jacobs? i hope i remembered his name right lol) and just generally in how he treats everyone around him versus how curtain does. and i think ultimately curtain is just. he wants control, he kind of thinks he’s better than people, and while he isn’t inherently bad (he cares about people, he has a sense of humor, etc.) he also just. seems to put himself first (in opposition to mr benedict who tends to be selfless to a fault, ironically, in a way--partially even due to his “selfish”--and i say that in the least derogatory way possible, because making a “selfish” choice isn’t inherently bad, sometimes self preservation is absolutely necessary). i mean, honestly, martina kind of reminds me of baby curtain, but the difference to me is a) her arrogance/superiority feels more like self confidence (”i am better than a lot of my peers”) rather than believing others to be inherently inferior (”my peers are below me”) and b) her meanness feels more like constance mean (still mean but not really malicious or outright cruel most of the time, although she has her moments) rather than something truly super hurtful (”what do they even see in you?” or talking about him like a fuckin pet??? boy???) and like. martina is a very likable character. or even constance that matter, she too is kind of mean because of her own personal trauma, she’s a child lashing out and pushing people away, but she isn’t cruel and she clearly cares and helps when it matters. does that make sense??? ANYWAY
i dont know, this is all wild and incoherent speculation, do not take my word as gospel or my final word on the matter, im just spitballing, having fun, this is fun
FJJFKF thank you for the ask tho <3 yall can always send me shit like this

long fucking post on why a c!dream is a shitty person and probably should not have a redemption because it is unpog
honestly i just want to refute dream apologists thats why im making this post. i think that dream as a villain is interesting but i think that trying to make him out to be secretly a good guy is just bad ngl. also /roleplay and all
tw for abuse and mentions of suicide
dream as a villain
dream is a villain. he is chaotic evil according to wilbur, deliberately does not stream to appear less sympathetic (and yet), and is set up as an antagonist to tommy who bears the title ‘hero’. dream is not a good person, no matter how you look at it or try to justify his actions.
‘but he wants to unite everyone to be a big family :((’ the ends dont justify the means believe it or not. having a vaguely positive goal does not excuse the actions you’ve done. it also goes hand and hand with saying dream is correct for punishing tommy the way he did because he acted up. if i socked you across the face and then suddenly said ‘sorry there was a roach on ur face’ does that make it okay? probably not i still punched you, enacting an unnecessary amount of violence. thats a very simple analogy i will admit and there are more complex comparisons. another example off the top of my head is say a child just scribbled all over you walls with crayons. would hitting them be a justified answer? if u said hes thats really fucked of u go seek help u loon. violence as a punishment is very toxic, just because it gets the job done does not mean it is okay. at the end of the day, you still committed this act and the harm you caused is real, having a good motive doesnt suddenly make it okay.
‘but tommy causes all of the conflict’ the disk war wasnt even caused by tommy, it was sapnap and then tommy got involved. and the reason why tommy even caused conflict was because of the discs, because he wanted them back. and most of the time there was a level of antagonism from another party, such as schlatt exiling him, dream taking the disks in the first place, dream threatening l’manberg. and if dream wanted to end the conflict so badly, why didnt he just give tommy back his disks? tommy upfront said everything started with the disks, so he wants them back so he could end the conflict. notice how after tommy got his disks back he has been staying out of conflict, apologizing to everyone, and the only bad thing hes done is try to scam people but everyone does that. this would have been the most peaceful option, yet dream chose the path that would further antagonize tommy which then draws everyone else into conflict. why did dream need to have leverage over tommy so badly? why did he want to hold power over tommy so badly? its because of control, and that’s ultimately dreams end goal. sure he wants a big server family, but would said family have a free will?
‘but dream is sad’ the thing is dream is completely at fault for everything that happened to him. he pushed away sapnap (and george ig). he tried to take control over the server and their possessions. literally everything that happened to tommy. literally everything involving ranboo. villains can be sympathetic, i am not arguing against that. but it does not mean that they should be left off the hook. that doesnt mean u should ignore the shit theyve done because ‘oh no theyre sad’ because it doesnt make anything better. dream had this shit coming for him.
now people also skirt around calling dream an abuser. which is fair ig, its a very loaded word. its much easier to say manipulated. that being said, dream can classify as abusive. and no, tommy is not abusive. abuse is about control and a power imbalance. dream has power over tommy, but tommy does not have power over dream, at least not in the way dream does. he’s taking back power to stand up for himself, dream uses power to control.
the reasons i listed for why dream is from the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project so if u want a source on that, there you go.
Tumblr media
using coercion or threats: dream often threatened tommy, such as the pit thing and often employed violence on him. while normally this could be attributed to Normal Minecraft Player Go Smack. minecraft mechanics cannot always translate to real world since violence is pretty normal in minecraft however we also need to consider the context of the scene. dream gave an order, tommy refused, dream applies violence, tommy submitted. thats why its a threat, it has tangible effects that can correlate to real life.
using intimidation: dream blew up logsteadshire as a punishment. dream also destroyed tommys items anytime he visited. dream also hit tommy with his axe i believe. he killed mushroom henry, one of tommys pets.
Using Emotional Abuse: dream guiltripped the shit out of tommy for just hiding things and pinning the blame on tommy for just wanting his own private items. he definitely played mind games on tommy, pretending to be his friend. honestly i probably dont even need to go as in depth because it was so obvious.
Using Isolation: putting him in exile in the first place. destroying the bether portal so no one could visit tommy anymore. i really dont think i need to expand upon that.
Minimizing, Denying, and Blaming: dream in tommys stream when he got trapped said that exile wasnt that bad. he does shift the blame onto tommy for logsteadshire being blown up, even though dreams reaction was entirely unjustified for not listening and hiding.
Using Economic Abuse: see this is where i attempt to parallel minecraft mechanics to real life. obviously, there is no monetary system in place, so when i mean economic, i will use valuables such as armor, food, etc in place of currency. the idea behind economic abuse is to limit the victim’s resources so that they are dependent on the abuser and cannot escape. dream only really allowed tommy to have the armor he gave him while not giving access to armor so he does not regain a sense of power, and in the prison stream, dream holds all the potatoes which puts him in a position of power over tommy. this argument is more ambiguous i feel cause the whole minecraft mechanics thing is kinda weird so u don’t necessarily have to take this part in.
i feel like i need to emphasize this very strongly because dream is not a good person. abuse cannot and should not be a response to someone. its an awful mentality to have. i just want to prove the point that dream is not a good person, his reasons absolutely do not justify his actions.
what makes a good redemption
redemption arcs are tricky. when done right they are great. when done poorly, its a slap in the face. rn im going to establish a formula to what makes a good redemption with an example.
the most well known example of a good redemption is zuko from atla. first, its the magnitude of what theyve done and why. zuko did commit some shitty actions, since he was in a position of power in the fire nation but its because he is a child being abused and wanted to regain honor. zukos real awful acts was season 1 and the whole betrayal thing. thats not to say that zukos actions suddenly are okay, he did shitty things. but its something that can be traced to a higher entity or seem less malicious then the other villains. the thing also about the magnitude of actions is that there is a certain point of atrocities that there is no redemption. some people simply cannot be redeemed because the actions they commit are so ingrained in their character or the action itself has serious moral issues that it would just be wrong.
the next is acknowleding what they did was wrong. a genuine reflection on the self and analyzing what they did and why it was not okay. zuko realized what he did to uncle iroh was bad for example. he turned his back on his father, realizing he didnt and shouldnt seek acknowledgment from someone as heinous as him. its pointing out your actions and going ‘hey, this wasnt right i should not have done this’ and not even excusing ur actions. its also going straight for the root of the problem and figuring out to stamp it from the source. just because a character is sad does not mean they are reflecting, sometimes they are attempting to garner pity. it has to be direct and clear acknowledgement of the injustice.
and finally, an important part about redemption arcs is the actual redemption part. its when you make amends. zuko made amends with katara by trying to help her get revenge, he fought against the fire nation and tried to make things more peaceful in his rule. he apologized to iroh. an important part of the amends section is that it does have to be a genuine desire to change and become a better person, not to change a person’s perception of you. the thing is u cant expect a person youve hurt to forgive you. you cant expect people to be sympathetic towards you nor should u attempt to make urself sympathetic. u shouldnt be expecting a pat on the back or an award. redemption is about internal and character change.
why dream should not be redeemed
ive already established the key points to a good redemption (imo) but heres where dream falls short. his actions are extremely heavy so redemption may not even really be possible. abuse is not something you can wave off so it does cross to the point of fucked up. acknowledgement of what he did was wrong? all he said was that he changed, yet never explained why he changed or was too vague. he needed to label specifically what he did and bring it up. attempting to make amends? he’s been doing the exact opposite in fact he continues to manipulate tommy and ranboo. its not a genuine change. he is still repeating the cycle and has given no indication of ceasing. at the moment he does not have any signs of redemption.
and the thing is most of the attention around a dream redemption comes from either justifying his motives (which i do want to emphasize does not make anything suddenly okay) and because he is sad in prison sad face. these are not good reasons. its gonna pain me severely to bring this up but snape from harry potter does have some form of sad character ig yet he very much abused his authority to bully children as old as 11 just because he said ‘aight gonna die’ doesnt suddenly make his general bigotry and abuse suddenly okay there is a threshold. again im so sorry for using harry potter as an example none were coming to mind and i needed a popular one i do not like harry potter please dont say i do i would pass away.
and the last thing to consider is the audience. keep in mind that the audience is composed of minors and while yes there are adults, minors are the main component of the fandom. keep in mind that there are quite a few people who can relate to tommys character because they might be in the same position or have gone through his experiences. tell me what kind of message does it send to that audience that abusers can be redeemed. this is not a narrative u should push to this audience in these situations and the writers are seemingly aware of it. remember how in exile tommy spiraled into a suicidal mentality? consider how fucked of a message it would be if he just committed suicide instead of escaping abuse and attempting to recover from his experiences. tommy did an excellent job in not going that route and having a message of ‘it will not get better’. its the same thing here. victims are not obligated to care for or forgive their abuser, and portraying an abuser as sympathetic might fuck with the message a lot, even change their perception in that ‘oh, maybe my abuser was right, maybe they had a reason for treating me the way they did’. this is not to say that every victim watching this will internalize this message, but people also look up to these characters. there can be a degree of influence from the story onto oneself and thats the dangerous part.
conclusion
all in all dream is a shitbag asshole and probably shouldnt get a redemption because it would not be pog thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Yeah I get your reasoning but I also come back to dream saying that he won’t let Tommy go or kill him or something along those lines cause he’s “just too fun” or when he did end up killing tommy but only to prove his point that he could revive people. It’s like he has tunnel vision for tommy which almost contradicts everything else.
In general I think the dsmp characters can be really hard to assign alignments to because a lot of people aren’t too familiar roleplay and keeping a consistent character whilst the fact that a lot of it is crack treated seriously where something said out of character becomes important lore. Also the fact that some people are roleplaying/in lore mode and someone they’re interacting with isn’t.
For example ranboo might technically have a canon kill which kinda goes against his characterisation because connor stole a beacon one time and said something like “hey I’m doing a lore stream so if you kill me, it’s canon” and ranboo just kills him which contradicts his character massively so like,,,,,, yeahhh
hi !!!! responding to this under the cut because i have a tendency to ramble when talking dsmp lore LOL :]
yeah i definitely do think he has spiraled with his obsession with revenge on c!tommy to the point where he is almost doing it for his own personal enjoyment (i won't get into this right now but i think a lot of it has to do with embracing the role others have been pushing him into for a long time! thinking kind of grendel/beowulf type stuff). as of late i would 100% say he is more chaotic evil but sometimes when i read the chaotic evil descriptions and what not i guess im just bummed out that things got to this point with his character yknow?? not like im disappointed with his character bc obviously i love his character but like. i am sad for him because i really think his story is a lot more of a tragedy than people make it out to be i guess?
i also really like what you said about how their characters are affected by being new to roleplay. like i know during the l'manberg revolution times cc!dream was barely acting at all and was kind of just reacting how he would normally react and he has definitely gotten more comfortable with playing c!dream and allowing himself to be a more villainous character as time goes on. the ranboo example is definitely a really good one !!!!
honestly i think a lot of my trouble with labeling him as a chaotic evil just comes from the fact that since ive been a fan of his character for so long im still kind of stuck on the idea that what's going on with his character is that his end goal is morally good and he is just using increasingly more violent and amoral/evil means to achieve that goal. like his ideals have kind of deteriorated and been twisted and distorted through time bc of his increasing desperation to reach his goals and the way others have treated him. since he doesn't stream himself and we never see him alone it's hard to determine what he is actually feeling and what is just for show yknow? like the "i dont give a fuck about anything except your discs" feels like it was more for show given his whole thing in the dethronement arc ("i care about you and i don't want you to get hurt"), but we technically dont have any way of knowing which of his actions are authentic if that makes sense?
ANYWAY thank u so much for the ask!!!! i really appreciate u reaching out and i think you brought up a lot of good points. i think what you said about them not being very familiar with roleplay is definitely important to consider so again i appreciate u taking the time to bring it up here !!!! <3

Brothers anon, im gonna start combing the two separate submissions again cause its getting too short to have them separate I think?
1: His possession messed with memories Ranbob had before, so memories of school friends or playing with Ran were distant to erased. Though after Dreams possession it was also harder to make and keep memories. But thankfully as Ranbob was recovering from Dream and got futher away making memories came eaiser to him, though he'll never get back the memories he lost.
3: Oh he would very quickly grow to regret his decision, but it would be funny. And Benjamin would later admit that while it was annoying and stressful, it was also fun and he was very happy to have his two families meet and generally get along.
8: Everyone is just in shocked silence before Cletus just goes "YEAHHHHHHHHHH!" Oddly happy that Ranboo committed so much arson. Oh definitely, after all the outcasts of society where put there. Of course people would make such negative rumors about Mizu and treat the people as the scum of the earth. Though this also means, people don't know what happened in Mizu, and anyone who knows, view it in a more happy and a "Their finally gone" type of way, then viewing it as the tragedy it was.
Spoons is a card game technically. A group of people sit in a group and everyone gets 4 cards, and you keep discarding at least 1 card of yours to the person on your left, who then does the same to their person on their left, the last person in the group puts a card into a discard pile. The goal is to get 4 of the same cards, and once someone gets 4 of the same cards, that person goes and grabs a spoon in a pile in front of them (let's say there's 5 players, theres only going to be 4 spoons cause there's always a spoon less than the people playing), once they grab one anyone can grab a spoon. And the person who doesn't get a spoon gets a S added to them, once Spoons is spelled the person gets out of the game, and a spoon gets removed to continue the game. Basically for flowers its played the exact same way but with flowers in the middle expect for spoons.
11: I just imagine Dream sulking in a corner as you yell at him and him going like "well I didn't know…" as he kicks a stone. And he wasnt sure what it was, but quickly jumped on the idea that maybe it was the fact that Ran was still alive somewhere, and that that's causing Ranbob to willingly let himself become weak and defy him. Causing Dream to become angrier at Ran and punish Ranbob harder.
----
3: During the brothers fight in the storm, and after everyone runs off to find Ranbob, Ran is left alone. And he decides to just wander off into the storm, not protecting himself from the rain so he does get burnt. The whole time he's lost deep in thought and isn't really paying attention. He continues to wander for a whole day unfollowed (because after the Gladiators and Fishermen came back to the cave after finding Ranbob they are in no rush to find Ran and decide to look for him after the storm passes, which takes a full day) and at some point Raq finds him wandering. Which Raq then uses Rans distraction to his advantage and attacks him. At first only really the gladiators where concerned when they found Ran gone. But once they found him blinded and terrified everyone felt awful and a looming sense of guilt. And everyone continued to feel that way, even after they got the antidote and Ran started to see again.
4: They would just leave Ranbob alone and check in on him every now and again. But generally let him deal with it himself. They'd feel guilty leaving him alone, but they also know that they can't really do anything for him as their not prepared or briefed on how to help him in this situation.
10: Oh definitely, even with Ran blinded they would've been kicked out immediately for fighting, without even a second glance. Dont forget, Ran still cares for his brother. And maybe, losing his sight made him face the side of him that wanted to become family again with Ranbob, maybe it brought enough to light that he just can't ignore it anymore. Mostly only negative potions can be permanent, like posion, blinding, wither, and nausea (I know the last like 3/2 are effects but they've also found a way to make effects into potions.). You already know what a antidote for blindness would be. A antidote for wither would be, a ghast tear (actually a basic ingredient for almost every antidote), blaze powder, and glistening melon to make a overpowered healing potion. Antidote for posion would be ghast tear, swiftness (so it acts fast to get rid of the posion), and the 3rd ingredient depends on what kind of posion it  was (posion that has a side effect of constricting or filling the lungs with water? Pufferfish and Turtle shell for last ingredients. Posion that has weakness? Blaze powder, and glistening melon) And antidote for nausea would be ghast tear, and potion of slowness to allow the person to slowly feel better, so their nausea doesn't hit them all at once before disappearing, which can cause them to throw up or have side effects.
13: Thats exactly what they did.
14: Jackie will 100% attempt to fight God and no one can stop him. :) (to be honest im not sure yet, I know I want to do more with Raq and have the idea that maybe he could be the person that finds Dream and gets him out of Mizu, but that's pretty often used in stories and I want to try to think of something more unique. Maybe I'll have it so Raq actually manages to capture the brothers or at least one of them and uses them as blackmail?)
15: When Ranbob was a child and Ran was just a baby Ranbob would often take Ran out of his crib and take him to go watch the fish swim by. When Ran was old enough he'd follow Ranbob everywhere, even a few times he managed to sneak into Ranbobs class room and almost wasn't caught. Ran got extremely clingy one day and managed to gather his haunting all up into his arms and carried them around, even though he was obviously struggling. And Ranbob used to complain about his teachers and idiotic classmates whenever he got home, which is funny when you consider Ran was very impressiable at the time and Ran started mimicking Ranbob, leading to him cursing, much to Ranbobs dismay.
And im curious, do you have any questions that I havent answered? Or do you have any ideas for anything? I'd love to hear whatever you have to say about anything honestly!
Course! I dont have much lore wise other than they go to Kelalen and when they hear Dream is still around they decide to stay back to help fight him. But the idea I have is that Karl is just kinda hanging with everyone I listed, talking about allies or treaties when his time traveling clock/watch starts to go off, and he panics, but sadly in his haste to stop it he makes it worse and it grabs everyone, where they end up in the future. After hours of confusion and explaining they calm down. When 2 days later they find the Gladiator and Fishermen group, at first Karl is strongly against going to then for help, but everyone basically ignores him and go to ask for help. Hours of explanation and proof giving later the GF (Gladiator and Fishermen, got tired of writing it out) group sadly tells them that they cant really help. Until Ran (who was previously gone searching the surrounding area and making sure it was safe) appears high up on a tree (cause I just can't get the image of Ran on a tree and looking comfortable and confident as hell out of my head), and says that maybe Kelalen can help, if not going to Foolish may be a good alternative. Isaac, and Grievous are extremely against going back (at this time a 2 months have past since they left Kelalen)n saying it could be dangerous but Ran just aboustely shoots them down, along with Watson and Jackie agreeing with Ran, and Karls group agreeing to it. They head off to Kelalen. And Jackie is extremely excited at the potential of going to see Foolish finally. And it'd probably be like a sub au where the brothers au is the main backbone for it but at a certain point it separates from the au and becomes its own.
1: Okay, ouch. Can you imagine if Ran brought one of those memories up, and just had Ranbob look confused, or horrified, depending on how quick he realizes what happened? How would Ran react to that realization, both before and after he forgives Ranbob?
3: If nothing else, everyone got some laughs from it-even Benjamin, once his friends were far, far away from his family and not able to teach them more chaos.
8: Cletus, why are you so happy? Do you just enjoy knowing chaos existed back then? Are you an arsonist? What’s up with you?
Also, wow. Not cool, other city people, that’s very mean.
Spoons sounds like it’s interesting, I might try it sometime. Did the group just have those cards on them? What other games did they have?
11: Good, put Dream back in the corner, I’m gonna be yelling more. Because, seriously dude? I know you probably exist solely out of spite, but c’mon. Admittedly, from a certain point of view, it could be considered amusing that your first thought was that Ranbob was making himself weaker out of defiance/spite but like. From a more responsible and mature viewpoint, that’s incredibly stupid, and I-just. Buddy, hate to tell you, but I’m pretty sure that’d just be a you thing. Besides you were in Ranbob’s head, didn’t he think Ran was dead? It doesn’t even make sense. Good lord, I’m half-tempted to get the broom and chase you around like you’re a particularly unruly barn cat.
------
3: First of all, that sounds really scary for Ran. Second of all, are we getting an overprotective arc?
4: Kind of sad, but understandable, they’re dealing with the situation as best they can.
10: Even if the group was provoked by the townspeople? Potions sound really cool, wish I could make those in real life, tbh.
13: W-what do you mean ‘that’s exactly what they did’? Anon, is your friend, like, a legit gremlin? I’m spooked.
14: Foolish takes one look at Jackie, wearing a smile that exactly matched Tubbo’s when he was about to cause chaos, and immediately nopes out of that. He knows that face, and he will not be getting tangled into a fight with a goblin child today, no sir. I’m sure Jackie tries regardless though. (Also, that sounds like that goes horribly, do we get an overprotective ender-sibling, for whoever gets captured or used as blackmail, if that’s what you do?)
15: I love all of these so much, oh my gosh. Baby Ran seeing the fishes and following his big brother around. Poor Ranbob’s face when his baby brother cursed one day, Ran trying to carry all of his haunting. I’m in tears, honestly.
Umm...I can’t think of anything right now, to be honest. If I ever do have a question or idea though, I’ll through it on the Brothers AU tag for you to check out, I guess.
Oh, this sounds really cool. The part about them just ignoring their local time traveler when they’ve just time traveled particularly amuses me, as does Jackie wanting to see Foolish-I feel like Foolish may be a little more than terrified to see both Tubbo and Jackie back, honestly. Why was Ran willing to help them so much? What did they do to offer proof? How did Ranbob react once they proved who they were? How does all the group get along? Are they Ranboo’s haunting, and if so, if Ranboo gets close with his descendants, does he merge his hauntings with theirs? How does the time group feel about the Brothers fighting, and Ranbob’s possession?

Spot on about how fanon is with Reki, Cherry and Tadashi. They have the easy to make "not really flaws" like being insecure or having anxiety, so the fic is about Reki being told how great he is, he has nothing to feel insecure about. Cherry's anxiety gets him written like a child who needs to be comforted 24/7. Tadashi's flaws are eased away in favor of the narrative of just the loyal friends who loves the other character who just needs to appreciate him more which does the ship a disservice.
By making those flaws just baby ones, it ignores that they can also hurt people. Reki hurt Langa and Miya because of his issues. Tadashi hurt Adam. Cherry can be pretty controlling. They're not bad people, but the popular ships all having one character who's the fandom favorite because they fit the tropes means the other character gets flattened too. I noticed some Renga shippers think Langa is cute but some resent him as a Gary Stu, Cherry's needs are the focus of MB 1/2
and Joe is written like too perfect and just to prop up Cherry. Fans have a favorite and they might not hate the other character, they like them, but in ship fanon they're flattened. In Tadashi/Adam fics Adam's not like a character and more of a prize for Tadashi for being so good without selling why Tadashi loves him. I saw someone comparing Tadashi to God. I'm not hating on these ships but its sad in a show like this people still write half the ships as just there or not "deserving" the other.
*****
I'm being fair with saying that I dont write these ships as much as I used to. Well mainly mb. I never really wrote Tadaai or renga all that much.
Writing takes a lot of effort and this isn't me trying to shit on how people write and I'm positive that isn't anons goal. More just pointing out observations.
Now to be fair, in the show, Cherry is given more characterization then Joe is, significantly more if I'm being honest. So considering the fact that Cherry is given more screen time it amazes me that he is reduced down to a ball of anxiety who needs to be taken care of when it is blatantly obvious to me that it is more like he needs to learn to lean on others a little more.
Between Adam and Tadashi? I have seen both be reduced down to baser character traits. Tadashi’s loyalty is definitely a character flaw though. He was prepared to go to jail for Adam. His loyalty goes beyond him just needing to be appreciated more for his efforts though because his loyalty isn't actually a "good" character trait.
Speaking of good and bad character traits. I feel as if the sk8 fandom (and most fandoms in general) are stuck putting people in "good" and "bad" boxes when that isn't a thing. People are just people who can do good things or shitty things. While sk8 is a show and should not be taken overly seriously (because that is how you get people making baseless accusations for liking a character), it is concerning how a lot of people watching it fit the characters into these boxes instead of recognizing that they are all well rounded characters who can do good things and do shitty things. There is not a single character in sk8 in the main cast who is "good" all the time or "evil" all the time.
I haven't touched on Renga yet because I have written very little of it. Age swap contains the most renga I have ever written and they are just acting as mentors majority of the time and I am unsure of how much they actually follow characterization that has been included in the show so... yikes.
Outside of that *checks fics* i have written Reki trying to kill Miya and... I wrote some fluff between the two 😅 oops.
I like Renga don't get me wrong! The ship is cute. I just see a lot of fics where Langa is reduced down to "I love reki", "food", and "ooh skateboarding". Then reki is just: "communication issues", "anxiety to the point of needing to be coddled", and "inferiority complex". There are some good renga fics that explore their characters more then that, obviously. This is just what I have seen. I have definitely read some good ones and I have a small au that includes the ship and I actually don't mind the work I have down with them in that. It just gets boring to read the same thing over and over again (this goes for all three ships honestly).
Seeing the same thing constantly is exactly why I am often bouncing between ships and I honestly highly recommend it for people who are sick of the same characterization all the time.
I could go on about this, but then that will just turn into me trying to sell snakeblossom to everyone (there are 6 fics on ao3 with that tag now 😏), but yeah it sucks to see characters reduced down or only existing as a prop for another character. That honestly just results in needing to find different reading content (and maybe don't pull your characterization from tiktok if you are a writer. I could actually go off on how dirty the tiktok side of the fandom is doing Cherry... you know what I am).
Cherry is a manipulative, self destructive, bossy, asshole. This man is in no way shape or form going to give up what he wants for the rest of the cast. He would probably purposefully be an ass just to get a reaction out of someone (*ahem* Joe and Adam). Like do I adore Cherry? Would I worship him as my God? Yes 😂 is he still actually a jackass? Absolutely.
Maybe I'm just too deep into how I write Cherry when writing fics, but he isn't going to give up what he wants for three snot nosed brats.

Currently in Minneapolis/St Paul there are very few actual protests anymore, because the cities have gotten so unsafe. Undercover police started most of the more violent actions, and police have escalated them. The corporations like Target being destroyed is fine, and the police station being burned was great - but at this point people have been coming from out of town, and out of state, and using the riots as an excuse to steal and destroy stuff. This includes white supremacists who are using this as a chance to destory the property of minorities as well as make a bad name for protesters. The KKK has litterally been spotted
This is a list of donation links for small buisnesses, libraries, and museums that have been looted or burnt. But first I will give you the GoFundMe for George Floyd's memorial because we should ALWAYS remember, that while peoples livelihoods in the twin cities are being threatened right now because of the damage, buildings being destoryed will never be as important as someones life being taken.
https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd
And here is District Attorney Mike Freeman's number: (612) 348 5550 Tell him you want Derek Chavin on 2nd or 1st degree murder charges and the other 3 officers arrested as well. You can also try contacting the Hennipin Auturney's Office Facebook page here since the phones are known not to work.
Feel free to correct me if any of these links don't work or are fakes, or add on! As someone from MN I know for a fact that more small businesses (+ libraries, museums) where hurt than just these. Also if you dont live here, do remember that even the for the small businesses being destroyed, most of the owners have stated they 100% side with the protesters still.
Under the cut there are donation links for 9 specific buildings as well as some extra links at the end. PLEASE CLICK THROUGH. EVEN A 1 DOLLAR DONATION IS BETTER THAN NOTHING! If you feel bad about not being able to donate- not to worry. Calling the number and contacting the Facebook page above is free, do that !
Now, here's the donation link for Migizi, it is a Native American history museum that was burt down. They have surpassed their original goal, but you should still heavily consider donating. Most of the items in the museum where saved, but some where still lost, and the building itself honestly might have suffered the worst damage of any you'll see on this list.
This doesn't fit into the description of small business or library or museum, but here is a donation link to help fund rebuilding the Tawfiq Mousque, which was burt down as well
This is the donation link for SacDelux, a home-owned consigmnet store owned by two black women that was looted and destroyed, all the windows smashed. It is one store, a small business, and is fairly new, being opened in 2014 I think, making it's destruction extra sad. As of this post, they have only reached about a third of their goal.
This is the GoFundMe for El Sabor Chuchi, a Ecuadorian family-owned restaurant, which was looted and had all it's windows broken. The GoFunMe has only only made a small portion of it's goal, and the owners have small children.
This is the facebook donation group for Ghandi Mahal, a family-run Indian Restaurant that was burnt down. The owner has stated his full support of the protesters, and in fact was helping provide resources for protesters before his building was burned. All of these where obviously not done by actual protesters, but this one especially since the building was used as a space to support protesters. The owner is a very wonderful person, who pledged his support publically to the protests after his building was burned, still stating it was worth it in the hope of positive change!
Here's the GoFundMe for Emily's Eatery, it is a small breakfast diner owned by a family of Italian immigrants. It is a lovley place, honestly, and is not meeting it's donation goal, unfortunatley.
Here's the GoFundMe for Lloy'd Pharmacy, it was a beautiful, independently owned pharmacy in an old historical building and was considered real important to people here in MN, and was burnt down almost completely! It has thankfully reached most of it's goal, but still consider dropping a donation if you can, it's sort of a cultural loss as well as an being an independent store.
Here's the GoFundMe for Midori's Floating World Cafe, it is a cafe owned by a family of Japanese immigrants, and they have shown their full support of the protesters! Unfortunately the store has suffered vandalism and looting.
Here's the GoFundMe for Town Talk Diner. It is a home-owned diner that got looted and completely smashed up and destroyed with vandalism. The owner was actually participating in protests elsewhere when it was destroyed.
OTHER
Here's the donation link for a program called "We Love Lakestreet". All the money is going 100% to community efforts to clean up and repair small businesses on Lake Street, which is in Minneapolis.
Here is the GoFundMe set up by a newfound group called MN teens, which is a community-led group of St Paul and Minneapolis families who plan to split all funds between small businesses in their areas
Also check out the website for Moon Palace Books. It's is a small cafe/bookstore that is owned by LGBT people and considered an LGBT space. They have been using their space to help protesters, and while they haven't got much vandalism, if you plan on buying a book online, consider purchasing from their website to thank them for their support! It is on a block of small buisnesses, most of which are minority owned, a lot of which have not been spared as much as Moon Palace has, and I'd like to think Moon Palace would help the other businesses out, since I can't find donation sources for any right now.

Makoto plot line by Lêx?
thank you for this totally 100% spontaneous ask that you sent of your own free will, anon!
okay, so here's the thing. i dont like makoto. not really. he's annoying af and basically useless. bitch does nothing but hide behind haru cuz he's scared of everything and be blushy and soft in that spineless way, you know? like he just lets everyone push him around and treats everyone in such an unfuriatingly uniform, fake-cheery, ultra helpful way that it's his whole personality
but here's the thing! it gets sad. you know? especially considering how he, like, seems to basically live to enable haru? in all the worst ways. like it's nice of course that he helps haru with his depression but there's a point when it becomes enabling and that point is when makoto is running after haru all the time trying to solve his messes, remind him of his own damn responsibilities, and basically take care of haru's whole life so he doesn't have to. again, helping is good, but by worrying about the things haru doesn't worry about and preventing him from facing the consequences of not doing anything basically lmao he enables haru to never fucking get out of his constant stupor. also, as previously said, he's spineless, which means that he never truly goes against haru's wishes. so like. enabler. bad
which is my main beef with makoharu, which is actually the most popular ship in the fandom because ppl have no taste and also dont know how to interpret shit. tho tbh even makoharu shippers are like "i ship makoharu because makoto deserves to be happy and he wants haru!" so even they acknowledge that.... haru isn't into him lmao. but anyway
point is: they pull each other back. im not gonna say it's abusive or something cuz i don't think it is, i wouldn't even call it toxic, but it's stale in the worst kind of way. makoto enables not only haruka's depression, but also his self destructive and to some extent relationships destructive behavior, setting his growth back. and makoto lives and exists to take care of haru. he has no dreams, no goals, hell, not even INTERESTS. his whole thing is just. haru. where haru goes, he follows. and. that's it basically
which is why the fact that so many makoto stans ship makoharu is also baffling to me, because if i were a makoto fan, i'd probably hate haru, lmao. i mean, makoto is going around doing all this work for him, plus emotional labor, and haru never gives him much back really. and it's obvious that haru doesn't like makoto the same way makoto likes him, but makoto is just out there taking whatever scraps he can get, and haru just sort of. probably doesn't even notice cuz that's been their dynamic since they were kids. and makoto knows that, too. so like. if i stanned makoto. id fucking hate haru for that tbh
and honestly it's bad writing because i think the writers couldn't care less about makoto lmao and also didn't know what to do with him, which i think becomes increasingly obvious as seasons go by and he's just sort of. there. they tried to give him his own plotlines and even dreams but it never stuck. he feels like a doll most of the time. even in s1, which was widely rinharu-focused and barely had any other characters have real plotlines unless you count the one (1) episode where they try to teach rei how to swim, makoto was particularly uninteresting and underexplored and developed. like, the other characters might not have had huge importance but at least they had personalities. makoto didn't, really, unless you count "mama henning haru" and "being uwu" as a personality
but my point is: what if makoto got some real writing? what if we explored his character, and his relationship with haru, in a more critical, dimensional way?
makoto is in love with haru, i think that's indisputable. haru isn't in love with makoto, which i also think is indisputable. makoto himself knows that what haru has with rin is special and beyond what makoto and haru have, he says that, he even says that he was jealous of rin. yet he stays. even when rin comes back, and haru and rin become friends again, and it's obvious they're going to be together, makoto stays. he takes care of haru, which is some pretty damn stressful work, and does all this emotional labor for him, and haru barely gives him, like, a smile every once in a while, lmao, and again it's sad. but makoto stays. and - that's an important part to me - it doesn't seem to be because he has any hopes that haru will come around. so why
i think they're stuck in a loop, and that makoto has been in love with haru, and being not only his emotional support, but basically the one thread connecting him with the outside world (while simultaneously enabling him to continue as detached from it as he can, because he's not bringing haru out to the world, he's bringing the world to accommodate haru) for so long, he doesn't really know what else to do. also, he feels guilty about leaving haru to his own devices, even if obviously there's nothing he can do if haru won't help himself. also, he's scared of losing him, because he's been defining himself for his relationship with haru for so long, he doesn't know where else to go
i think that's supported by his relationship with other characters. like i said, makoto is annoyingly kind to everyone (if im not mistaken, the name makoto actually does mean kind) and a MASSIVE pushover. he never goes against anyone's wishes. he never really throws in what he wants. he doesn't really interfere with anyone's plans and ideas, he just sorta makes it happen. he is never annoyed, never has any quirks, is never even like, tired, you know? he lives to please other people, to the point where he has no personality, interests, or wishes beyond that
so, yeah: i think makoto is scared that, if he doesn't please other people, there's nothing else left for him. and in a way, he is right, because i don't think he would know what to do with himself if he had to look into himself and figure out what he wants out of life. so it's easier to follow others and dedicate himself to them. also, fear of loneliness is very valid, even if i dont think any of his friends would actually leave him if he weren't being their damn mom all the time. but they also let it happen, especially haru, because it's convenient, and again, homeboy barely has the energy to go to school, much less help makoto unpack all of that
but if i were writing free!, id want to explore that, because it has so much potential to be a pretty damn rich story, actually. especially as the story progresses, because one effect of rin being back and haru running the whole swimming club and trying to prepare for their race is that haru needs makoto less and less as time goes by. because he has a motivation. he cares about his grades because if he doesn't keep them up he won't be allowed to keep working in the swimming club, he cares about teaching the newbie (the rei i mentioned before) how to swim because otherwise they won't be able to run against rin in the medley race, hell, he reforms the whole entire pool that was abandoned so they have a place to train (with help, but like, he couldnt be bothered with getting up to school before). he even goes back to drawing so he can make pamphlets to attract more people to the club
and then he finds his love for swimming again, especially as a team, competitively. he finds his love for people again, for human interaction, for competition and the thrill of the sport he loves. haru finds his motivation, and he starts putting his life back on track and working towards his goals, and haru is damn capable. and that means that makoto has a lot of free time in his hands now, and haru is slipping through them, and he knows he can't really keep their relationship as he was. and he shouldn't, honestly, and i think that he's, at least, smart enough to know this
and he has a crisis, because again, he's been defining himself through haru for the longest goddamn time, im talking all the way from middle to high school here. and he doesn't know who he is. he doesn't know what he wants. he barely knows what he likes
but he's not alone either, because again, makoto is haru's best friend, and haru does like him and it's not like he's all "i found my purpose with rin now. peace out". his journey was also about finding his whole support system with his friends. through relearning how to swim in a team, he also relearned human connection and friendship. that's one of the many beauties of rinharu. they inspired each other to make their lives better, including in ways that have nothing to do with each other, and they weren't even trying to
so he has haru, but in a now radically different dynamic, and also rei and nagisa (his teammates) and gou (rin's sister and also their trainer) (rin and gou don't go to the same school for some reason). and everyone is going through a similar crisis, because it's the last year of high school. rin obviously has known that he wants to be an athlete since he was a kid, but everyone else's plans are kinda sketchy. makoto just happens to have some extra flavor in that mission - he's not just trying to figure out what he wants to do, but who he is
and fuck if i know how that would develop from there, but id really love to see makoto finding himself, honestly. i want to see his issues being addressed. the only backstory we have for him is that he's afraid of the ocean because he almost drowned at some point? i dont remember. i want to know why the fuck he's been repressing his own needs and personality so hard. i want to know what had him so scared of the world that it was easier to forget about himself and basically live through haru. i want to know what he's going to do to find himself, and the very, very painful journey of looking at himself and his own needs, and, in many ways, his own emptiness, because makoto essentially carved himself hollow. i want makoto to have dimension and depth, and be relatable and not just a dumb shell of uwuness for ppl to swoon over and want to protecc, not even because i like him, but because it could be so interesting. and relatable in so many ways. like, god damn it. if you wanna make him one of the main characters, give him a real plotline!
and i want to see him finding out that his life is better when he's a little more detached from haru and not living in an endless pursuit of a relationship, but having a network of people he loves and that has mutual support. i want to see him getting over haru, not so he can have some other romance with someone else, but so he can grow. makoto basically doesn't grow at all the whole show, and it's sad to watch, especially as everyone else grows so much

roommate! jaemin
Tumblr media
i hope u guys like this one! i do :)
warning: not proofread LMAO
jaemin: a huge flirt
like we been knew sis okay bUt its not like it defines him ya kno??? like yes he is a flirt but its not like he does it purposely
however that doesn’t stop every single girl from liking him
except for u cause you’re ~not like other girls~
jk you are
cause who wouldn’t find na jaemin attractive?? tf???
okay but like the dealio between you and jaemin is that you are best friends
and you have a fat crush on him (u have since the beginning of highschool LOL)
luckily for you, although jaemin is a flirt, he isnt interested in any girls so he doesnt bring any to your dorm
and even if he did, he would tell u because it would be shitty not to
anyway
so u met in grade nine and yalls friendship popped TF off right away like you joined nomins duo and made it a trio in the span of 4 months and everyone was like???? this mf got that close to them that fast???? mastery
jeno was like ur brother from another mother fr
you and him told eachother everything and sometimes he would tell you things he wouldnt even tell jaemin. like everyone has those people that although theyre close w, there are some things you’d never tell and that goes for jeno and jaemin
jaemin never told jeno he listens to taylor swift
and jeno never told jaemin that he watched all of my little pony friendship is magic on netflix
but since you and jeno shared some personal things w eachother, you obviously told him about your crush on jaemin
and since you had a crush on jaemin, you never got like super super close with him just cause ur feels got in the way
mainly just you never got as close to jaemin as you did jeno
sure you were bffs, but it wasn’t on such an intimate level
cause everytime jaemin would look your way you’d be gasping for air
so timeskip to senior year
everything is great
your friendship is still strong af and you guys are all planning for post secondary
jaemin and you get into the same uni right.... and jeno gets into the one the town over so your friendship wont take that much damage
but!!! jaemin wants to room with you!!! and ur like!! fucufejdsk!!!
cause like ofc you want to who wouldnt????? but you have such a massisve crush on him you dont want it to get in the way of not only yours but also jaemins university experience
you say yes tho and next thing you know youre unpacking all your stuff
the dorm is kind of small like there isnt a lot of space,,,,, theres two bedrooms but the beds literally take out the whole room HAHHAHA and then there is a chill space with the kitchen connected and u and jaemin have to share a washroom LOL
“jaemin what the FUCK did you eat??? beans??? i bet it was beans this shit smells so bad i-”
“it really do be ya own friends sometimes” -jaemin 2020 :((((((
anyway so like university life is good you and jaemin invite jeno over every weekend for a sleepover and vice versa its so cute GAH
but like,,,, here’s where the drama comes in
one day you are facetiming jeno and youre telling him about how you really like jaemin and blah blah ya know the usual
and youre not really looking at the screen cause youre doing your homework and focusing on that but jeno sees in the back that jaemin has fully entered the room
and you dont notice cause hes silent and your still talking but jeno is trying to get your attention UDHSJIA
and when he does you see in your part of the screen jaemin just,,,, standing there
cue you ending the call with jeno SO FAST and turning around like oH i thought you had classes right now?
“.... they ended early”
“i see” ://////////
you like get up super fast and just walk around him and go into your roomm shutting the door
poor jaemin is just like “what”
cause to be honest he never really considered this situation ever happening yah he thought you were prettier than most girls and he liked the way you were able to talk to people so easily but he never would have thought you harboured feelings for him
so he kind of just leaves it be cause he knows that you def dont want to talk about it and is willing to wait for you to be the one who brings it up
so time skip to dinner youre both just eating in silence but you dont like it,,,
“what i said was true” you say and jaemin looks up and he knows where this convo is going but he lets you speak
“i didnt ever plan on telling you because i really like our friendship but i guess i wasn’t careful enough”
your heart is beating hella fast but you try to look unbothered and its going pretty good until jaemin asks you something
“how long have you felt this way?”
OKAY like it shouldnt be a big deal to tell him bc you already exposed yourself but for some reason that question just hit you deep cause you realized that youve liked him for so long and he never felt the same ya know
“i dont know,,, since the start of highschool? when we became friends i always thought you were cute and it just turned into a full blown crush”
jaemin just sort of nods in response “oh okay”
so that night your just laying in your bed full of regrets
you know things are about to be super duper awkward between you and jaemin and you wish it didnt have to be like that
so over the next couple of weeks its more awkward than it has ever been before and the sleepovers with jeno seem so divided
its either jeno and you or jeno and jaemin its never the three of you anymore :((((((
jaemin isn’t ignoring your feelings though, dont worry! hes just trying to sort his out
because your confession kind of opened his eyes
he doesnt want to force himself to like you but he cant help but admit that when he first heard you talking about your feelings a huge warmth spread through his chest and he may or may not have uncovered some feelings
these feelings were always there but he suppressed in grade nine cause he thought you’d never like him and you just wanted to stay friends
so he pushed them down and never thought about it again
but obviously that didnt happen because now youre on his mind 24/7 and he wishes that he could just talk to you but hes kind of nervous
so after taking advice from jeno he tries to talk to you more, like asking how your day went and starting up conversations
youre  kind of like “what u playing at son” but you leave it cause you know jaemin would never do you dirty like that
it stays this way for a while until one night theres a particularly bad thunderstorm and jaemin is scared of thunder
and so when youre just playing on your phone jaemin opens your door slightly and has this scared look on his face
and you know that jaemin is scared of thunder so you open your arms without any words being shared
a huge boom of thunder makes jaemin squeal and jump into your arms
and he gets comfy under the covers as youre holding him, no words shared between you two
he starts to feel much better and this sense of comfort washes over him like,,, youre his home
and as hes falling asleep he softly mutters
“im sorry it took me so long”
and youre just straight confused like what does that mean is he talking about his feelings or just the fact that yall havent had such an close encounter in a while
the next morning you wake up and jaemins arms and you guys are facing eachother
and hes already awake so when you oepn your eyes you find him already looking at you
“thank you for last night, youre the best” he whispers and youre like all good fam i understand
but then he leans in closer and is like “i should have told you this so long ago, but i am in love with you”
your eyes widen and youre like wh AT the FUCJ your heart is beating at like 420 bpm and ur shooketh
he just smiles and pulls in you in closer and its just a super soft moment and no words have to be said
that night you guys are cuddling on the couch after dinner when jaemin just asks you be his gf
OF COURSE YOU SAY YES! you have been waiting for this moment for god knows how long
jeno is all like damn fina-fucking-ly i’ve been watching this romance play out for like 5 years!
its super cute
its even better that you guys are roommates because youre already living together so you get to see eachother everyday
jaemins room as become a guest room for sorts as he now shares a bed with you
jenos happy af hes like YESSS I DONT NEED TO SLEEP WITH JAEMIN IN OUR SLEEPOVERS ANYMORE
jaemin: >:(((((( tf is that supposed to mean
you just laugh and youre like im not complaining hahaha and jaemins heart just stutters so bad
he really does love you and he cant believe it took him so long to accept his feelings
and one night he tells you about how he pushed them down and youre like “exCUSE ME we could have been dating all this time u pussy”
sad jaemin :(((((
anyway ya its so good its a win-win situation
you get to room with the love of your life and its just magical there are so many soft moments between you two and just UGH relationship goals
i need me a jaemin

So I been playing a ton of Kenshi and watched all of the Mandalorian in a single day shortly before and it’s got me thinking about what makes what I consider a good action hero, because there was definitely a time where I thought the phrase “good action hero” was an oxymoron.
I grew up around some angry, unstable dudes who had that bad habit of watching horror movies and opining that in the same situation they would simply shoot the monster with the gun the character was holding. I got some views on the model of masculinity that sees the male ideal as functionally a tool for performing violence, condescension and occasional reddit-approved banter with all other emotional responses pared away or suppressed. This seems like a good way to manufacture a product for performing labor rather than developing a whole functional human being. So I generally veer away from that sort of thing pretty hard.
So I’m resistant to the Mandalorian at first, right? All the ads are basically star wars apocryphica and a power armored fighty gun boy. The last star wars thing I’d seen was The Rise Of Skywalker and my faith in the franchise is low. But it’s been a hot minute, the hype dies down, and my girlfriend is a better and more patient fan than I’ll ever be so we give it a go. And the first thing that really nails it for me is what a DORK the mando is. I’m delighted, his life is violence interdispersed with being an absolute buttfumble disaster. He slips and falls over things he could never have predicted, he burns his life down for a baby he finds in the desert. Pedro Pascal references Boba Fetts stiff menace and plays it off as someone who has no social skills other than stiff menace and it’s FASCINATING. Him explaining to the village woman who is obviously into him that he hasn’t taken the armor off since he was thirteen isn’t a badass declaration of martial devotion, it is the single saddest and most awkward interaction I have ever seen filmed and it hits all the harder for the fact that this is a character I’ve mostly ever seen as an action figure with a spring loaded missile backpack. Instead of being a faceless emotionless action-cudgel, Pedro amps up the body language in his acting to really sell you this heavily psychologically damaged, desperate, viking-space-catholic mess with no life skills other than violence and a devotion to his people’s creed that borders on obsession. Rather than paring himself down making him a psychological fortress, the Mando is an incredibly obvious walking raw nerve (”I’m not sad-” “Yes you are.”) So, Kenshi.
I’ve heard about this game on and off a few years and finally got it a few days ago. It’s been in early access since 2012, appears to be mostly getting finished by its modding community, and glitches like absolute woah. There’s no core storyline, just a post-apocalyptic setting with some surprisingly detailed autogenerated NPC interactions with some options for starting conditions and the sole goal of surviving. It’s essentially a rapid sequence of story prompts hidden underneath a closely interlocked system of XP grinding, survival mechanics and dismemberment algorithms, and is appallingly my shit.
My first run at the game got pretty far, went from a lone confused desert wanderer to a 13 man village running a tidy copper-mining operation to trade with the ant people. In the early game, fight mechanics are basically a death sentence; my first character immediately got her leg torn off by a goat and I had to restart. All skills grow only by excersizing them; you have to fight to get better at fighting, you have to LOSE fights to gain toughness, and when you lose a fight the consequences can range from “these bandits are stealing all your food” to “this monster is eating your leg/heart/head” to “these slavers are taking your character away and your game experience is Different now.” And while I was proud of myself for finding a way to survive, grow and thrive with a low-combat squad, once I tried the basebuilding mechanics that basically just meant my town was a source of free food and money for local bandits while my squad starved to death, unable to abandon our locale. So I got fed up and restarted.
As mentioned the game gives you different start positions; wanderer gives you 1 character, some money and pants. Guy and his dog gives you a dog, which is fun. Exiled officer starts you with good skills and the hatred of your former commander, which complicates things. Cannibal Hunters starts you already in a fistfight with 30 cannibals. It’s exciting times. But I figure this time I’d like to start my squad a LITTLE more capable of defending themselves, so I look at the Holy Sword start; you’re a bandit who starts with a stolen holy weapon, minuses in most skills, no money and a 20,000 bounty on your head from both major factions.
So I proceed to character creation and notice I can pick whatever I want for player species/subspecies with this start. There’s robot people and warriors made of stone and baseline humans and all sorts of fun options, but you remember those ant people I mentioned before? In game they’re called the Hivers, you find ‘em in 3 recruitable varieties (prince, worker drone and soldier) and they have an interesting in-universe quirk; ones that grow up in the hive are pheramone-addicted, chemically wired into the needs and wants of all of their fellows, but if you’re away from your kin for over a fortnight this addiction dries out incredibly fast and cannot be reinstated. Hivers who ever spend any time away from the hive are declared “lost ones,” and are often taken advantage of in the outside world as they long for a new community.
In survival sims I dont often play dedicated fighters, I always feel like being a brutal fight-beast isn’t really in the spirit of finding a niche to exploit and growing from a fumbling plebian to a major power. But I was already starting this game with my ONLY advantage being a nice sword. And the soldier hivers gain a buff to experience gained for melee attack and toughness, and a debuff to literally all else.
Manual labor. Science. Engineering. Farming. Cooking. First aide. In a setting that heavily prioritized your ability to survive using multiple vital skill sets, my character would start with negatives in his skills for putting on band-aids and FEEDING himself. So I gave it a go.
Getting more wild here, it turns out the Holy Sword opening also takes place in a time in the setting with more recent warfare, so a bunch of the starting villages are destroyed and it appears that more of the nearby cities are controlled by the factions that have a bounty on me. So my character CAN’T rely on other people or meet anyone to recruit at first. He can run, he can scrounge and scavenge, and as mentioned above starting characters can take lethal damage from GOATS so he can’t even hunt for food; the only way I was getting a meal was if I robbed someone or ran into merchants on the road I could hawk my salvage to for a scrap of bread.
He eventually finds someone willing to join him on his travels in spite of being flat broke, a shek named Ruka running from a dishonerable loss on the battlefield, and comparing their skills he’s so useless for everything besides combat that I assign him to bodyguard her. And again, this game’s appeal is that the survival mechanics make good story prompts, so imagine that in character.
“Fine, I need a change. I’ll join you.” “Thank god. Lead the way boss.” “What?”
Things regarding my characters bounty are starting to heat up in town, so we head north into hiver territory. We get attacked by bandits and heavily injured, my soldier gets knocked out, so Ruka picks him up and carries him until we find a hive town. I saw these guys all the time in my last playthrough, I survived by selling to them, they’re super friendly, should be fine. Ruka walks into the local shop and before I can have her ask for directions and a medikit the shopkeeper is already shouting- “SKREEE! LOST ONE! GET OUT! LOST ONES BRING MADNESS”
Apparently, my protagonist being a hiveless hiver means there’s a THIRD faction that’s hostile to him; his own goddamn people. Ruka has to leave him under a tree not just outside but like 50 feet from the edge of town, and just has  to hope none of the local wild megafauna eats him while she rushes back in to buy things from the now abruptly friendlier shopkeep.
I’m finally sitting there, having Ruka watch my soldier hiver sleep while she cooks scavanged meat and waits for him to finish healing, that I realize what the story being generated here is and it’s a good one; a Hive soldier whose only skills are violence, frantically scavenging and stealing to survive until he can find the one circumstance where he’s comfortable, sacrificing himself to protect others. He steals a sword that’s obviously important to two major governments, just because he knows it’s powerful and thinks that power will justify his continued existence as a hiveless soldier drone, essentially buying his way back into his people’s good graces by performing his function. Literally wandering the world until he found a single person who was willing to boss him around again and devoting himself to their defense to a state of pathological damage just to feel like he has a hive again. It’s sad. It’s badass. It’s deeply, unsettlingly pathetic.
But I also think it’s what makes a really really good gruff action hero!
Hypercompetence in violence is really interesting when you acknowledge the damage it can do to your humanity in the storytelling! The Mandalorian is unsuccessful in repressing his empathy response so he just tries to tough through the pain it causes him as best he can, until he meets The Child and it snaps. The Hiver is essentially playing pretend at being still valued as a product for committing violence, even in the face of being openly rejected for his previously esteemed role. This stuff is INTERESTING.
TL;DR version, a lot of these “supersoldier raised by the military/fight wizards/karate” characters are super boring and obnoxious when they’re put forward as power fantasies, and really interesting when you realize that being raised by Fight Wizards is why they’ve never had a girlfriend and called their handgun “mom” once.

Katara!
KATARA KATARA KATARA
why I like them
oh god where do i even start. katara just contains so many multitudes - she's sweet and feminine and caring and attentive but she's never reduced to just that, she's never just 'the girl', she's also allowed to get mad, to be petty, to laugh at her brother, to be headstrong and stubborn, to express vulnerability, to cry and to laugh, to make ridiculous facial expressions and *be* very expressive. she's dealing with a lot of trauma not simply from the loss of her mother but that loss represents also how her tribe have been decimated by the fire nation, how she's the last waterbender, how all this pressure exists on her shoulders (but also pride, but also determination, to bring it back) and that is expressed subtly throughout the series with the same depth and love that male characters are afforded with regard to their respective traumatic experiences. and despite all this she never tries to stop making the world good? She's always pushing for change, she's always wanting to make things better, she's relentless and doesn't give up when it comes to her vision for a better world... she has such a big heart. and that coexists with a deep anger in her, and deep hurt. Not to make an ocean metaphor so early on but she's as deadly and deep as the ocean but she chooses to be kind and warm and that's so powerful.
why i don't
honnestly while katara's instincts to mother people are a sad symptom of how she was forced to grow up to soon and automaically asigns herself a role of emotional responsibility she has mixed feelings about, i know that if katara tried to mother me, i would be annoyed. but that sounds more like a me problem.
favourite episode
oh it's either the episode where she beats the fucking shit out of pakku or it's the southern raiders. the first one because it's so gratifying to see how she's grown and developed as a bender and really come into her own. the second because... god i love how *messy* the southern raiders is, and it really taps into what i love about katara - she's flawed, she runs off on an ill-thought out revenge mission with zuko, she's got a great capability for darkness as she quite seriously considers murdering a man she has every right to loathe and to kill - but she chooses against it, in the end. it would not be right for her, if not him. she chooses what's right for her in the end.
favourite season
I'm gonna be a wee bit controversial and say book 1 had the best conception of katara's arc from student to master and really saw her grow and flourish, from someone yelling at her brother' oafish prejudice to a real master, that really solidified her as an idealist and presented that as the strength that is, that showed her struggling with petty jealousy of aang's progress and had her stumble in ways that made her character comeplling and interesting - like what an introduction to her character! book 2 had some fantastic moments but i can't think of anything particularly remarkable about hee character arc - largely because it tied into aang's romantic arc i think at this point. book 3 had some absolutely fantastic moments (scam queens katara and toph!! painted lady!! southern raiders!! the final agni kai) that really shone but also book 3 lays a lot of groundwork for fanon i hate (e.g. katara as the mom friend - wish that headcanon would die tbh)
favourite line
fuck there's a lot of good ones but my underrated fave is when sokka says he's kissed a girl before but she's never met her and katara says 'Who? Gran-gran? I've met gran-gran' and it's bruuutaaall
but my favourite serious line is 'I will never ever give up on people who need me'. powerful.
favourite outfit
water tribe anything!! and i actually think her book one/book two braids are her best hair. underrated katara hair. personally she looks just adorable in her parka in the flashback to when she was like. eight.
OTP
katara/personal fulfilment
katara/happiness
katara/fulfilling her goals and dreams
katara/loving minor background character who is never named
there's some ships i like in AU situations - yuetara is actually one i lov, especially with waterbender yue, i just love the whole sea/moon thing as well as katara and yue rebelling in loud/quiet ways, being girlfriends who refuse to have their lives defined by the expectations of older men, who have a great sense of duty towards their nations and won’t let gendered expectations stop them.
and most of you know i like the messy drama of katara/azula in a lighter AU situation where they're like, school or academic rivals, and the legacy of imperialism isn’t quite so personal (and azula makes better choices, obviously), but it’s not as much as i “ship” them as i just find the potential dynamic interesting, they’re both driven by a sense of duty for their home, it’s just that means *very* different things depending if you’re SWT or FN.
none of them are OTPs though - they’re more just fun thought experiments
brotp
katara & sokka - absolutely love their sibling dynamic its amazing. both have been impacted negatively by the shit in their lives and are not always dealing with it in functional ways but theyre there for each other, through thick and thin, always have each other's backs, they roast each other and bicker and sometimes make stupid decisions and sometimes lash out but at the end of the day their love pulls through, they’re able to work past those conflicts.
katara & aang - honestly while i feel kataang was just so poorly executed in the show (listen guys I just can’t after ember island players, i know that was a bad episode, but i can’t) & i cant imagine katara wanting to leave the south pole after the war for long spells (it would have to be long distance love, lots of profound and heartfelt letters and occasional visits, if anything, but i dont know if that’s what katara wants or needs? so maybe it wouldn’t pan out?), but regardless, i really do think these two had a life-changing friendship where each really represented hope for each other, that's at the core of it, they both truly believe in each other, and inspired each other. katara & aang good.
a headcanon
chief katara anyone?? chief katara?!?!
oh oh OH i also think that katara, while primarily a combat bender during the war, actually takes to healing a lot more after the show and gets proper healing training at some point with the help of a trained medical expert and maybe yugoda. tbh i feel like the show was a bit dismissive of healing as an ability - i feel like having that is *extremely* useful in any combat situation, you always have a medic on hand - but i understand why katara, who wanted to be recognised as powerful regardless of her gender, and wanted to hold herself in a fight alongside sokka & aang, pushed for combat waterbending training because that is what 'powerful' looks like to her in the moment. obviously katara is capable of incredible healing feats (see: saving aang) but i think given we see her as a healer in lok (not a decision i necessarily disagree with) would mean a shift in focus. i think katara actually comes to realise she likes healing a great deal, but really she excels in all aspects of waterbending and is the south’s most respected master who helped rejuvenate southern style waterbending
unpopular opinion
the main reason people think katara is straight is because we see her have very few meaningful interactions with other girls outside of toph. ATLA as a show is a bit romance obsessed, and very heteronormative in that regard, and so interactions with minor characters almost always line up with a potential crush for sokka or katara, and later, zuko (suki, haru, jet, yue, song, jin....). we rarely see katara build friendships with other girls and it’s such a damn shame.
(anyway bi katara for life)
a wish
the version of the puppetmaster we saw was actually fire nation propaganda, i feel like katara would have felt deep compassion for a prisoner of war and after maybe some clashes, would have agreed to help smuggle her out of the fire nation and secure passage home for hama, and tried to assure her that she still has a place there. the treatment of hama in that episode was awful (but also hama was written to be almost cartoonishly evil, very much an evil witch in her cottage in the spooky woods? like the whole horror movie / spooky story opening was such a big tell) and tbh i reject the thesis that we saw ‘katara’s dark potential’ in that episode completely, or that bloodbending as a power is inherently dark, or katara’s use of it to stop hama ‘corrupted’ her. I feel like katara might feel this way as a teenager perhaps but with time (she can be a little black and white at times), and especially with more training as a healer, i think she might realise that’s not the case, she’ll realise that she was right to try and oppose hama, her elder (she was lashing out rather than really trying to oppose the fire nation), and it wasn’t a betrayal of her or her beliefs, but also her use of bloodbending wasn’t wrong or evil inherently at all? and maybe she’d find ways to use it for healing purposes? anyway my wish is that, i like the idea that they meet again, speak about their differences, reconcile a little / come to an understanding, and katara learns more from hama again
an oh-god-please-don't-ever-happen
anything where katara’s character is reduced to a comforter or a healing device for a man and his trauma. particularly zuko. (they don’t have that dynamic in canon thankfully, zuko would never, zuko respects her too much)
5 words to describe them:
idealistic, hard-working, powerful, headstrong, kind
my nickname for them:
chief. or comrade. :^)

oh yall thought i was done x posting? lol. kamui character rant under the cut
the thing about kamui is i dont know that hes a very deep character??atleast not how clamp has written him and esp not in the manga.
he spends a lot of the manga being confused and often manipulated. and hes really just a kid.
his first big character arc is debastardization basically. when hes introduced hes a TOTAL asshole (the anime added scenes to make him more of a dick at the start but also has a bit of an explaination? ill get to it). hes shown as very rude to everyone around him, yelling at people to get out of his way or get lost, including his previous friends. hes also shown to have absolutely no care for his surrondings and regularly fights and uses his powers in places where bystanders could be injured and leaving roads bridges or nearby buildings in ruins. when confronted about the latter by hinotos knight (his name is saiki) he straight up says he doesnt care if anyone gets hurt. which i mean ok nothing wrong with a character being an asshole. the extreme in your face way kotori and fuuma describe kamui as a kid being very shy and Very quiet and gentle makes this characterization confusing but hey people can change i guess. the confusing part is that as kamui slowly beings to let his guard down he says that the big reason he was so standoffish especially wrt kotori and fuuma was because he wanted to keep them at a distance so they wouldnt get involved with all the end of the world stuff. which makes sense obviously! kamui was absolutely aware of how dangerous it might get. his entire plan was to get the shinken (the sacred sword) and bail because he didnt want any part of any of it. what i dont get is why he was totally cool with bystanders being injured or killed. during his fight with saiki they were in a neighborhood! on people roofs and shit!! saiki is the one to lead them to an abandoned construction site so no one gets caught in the crossfire. and kamui almost kills saiki!!! which i will let slide a bit because kamui was being followed and had been attacked by spells literally that morning. but later on he apologizes to saiki but never explained his reasoning why he didnt care about destroying peoples houses??? and its never brought up again?????? also theres a scene added to the anime where he kicks the shit out of kotori and fuumas dad??? because he wouldnt give kamui the sword?? bro thats ur best friends dad you jackass!!!!!
in the anime they added flashbacks for the time after he moved away from tokyo which i think make his whole character make much more sense. when he first moves and goes to a new school he accidentally uses his powers and makes everyone afraid of him. fast forward past elementary school to high? school? its unclear. at school hes a lazy slacker that never goes to class and never talks to anyone, big ol loner. he sees that a local gang has been stealing kids money and beating them up. so he decides to put on a tough guy persona and confront the gang telling them to knock it off and scaring them shitless with some fun ass kicking psychokenesis. now i am SO on board with this addition. kamui being ostrisized for being weird and scary when hes already a super shy kid, so he embraces this scary intimidating image and tries using it for good because hes still ultimately kind hearted. he gets too absorbed in this tough guy persona that he loses touch with the original purpose of it and just uses it as a shield because he himself is afraid and confused. and maybe even hiding behind it because hes so afraid of having this huge destiny that he doesnt know if he can live up to and how can someone who decides the fate of the world be just some quiet oversensitive guy.
except all of that is my own speculation and analysis because they really do not go into ANY detail about this. i wouldnt say its to the point where it feels like they just flipped a switch and hes nice now but it def feels like that. and it annoys me because after he kind of apologizes for being a dick it doesnt really get brought up again?? i think he broods over it once or twice. but i would have really liked to see flashes of it coming back in high stress situations or something? he has a lot of points of grief and depression but its always meloncholic rather than angry and it really makes him feel like two different characters i wish it was way more of a mix.
anger would also be good with the whole overarching theme of trying to break out of the path destined for you. its constantly said that theres only one future by the dreamgazers although hinoto wants to change it. its supposed destined that kamui will lose and earth will be destroyed. anger but more importantly PASSION is whats needed break out of what has been preordained and to carve your own path. passion is also whats needed for the main part of the second half of kamuis character arc, figuring out what it is he REALLY wants. what his true wish is.
i also think anger could have been a good inverse to the deliberate mirroring of kamuis character and subarus character. subaru really represents despair and being completely swallowed by grief. his story is that the man he fell in love with (named seishiro) was just manipulating him for fun and is actually an emotionless assassian. subaru is so destroyed by this realization he goes into a depression and because of this is unable to save his sister being killed by seishiro. his goal is literally to be enough of a nusance to seishiro that hell kill him. literally he wants to be acknowledged as important enough to bother killing. its pointed out often how subaru and kamui are so similar, with how fuuma killed kotori, and how theyre both kindhearted ro a fault. its an intentional reflection. subaru even pulls kamui out of a similar depressive state after kotori dies. he and kamui have a whole heart to heart about how some peoples happiness can look pitiful to others and how hes going to fufill his goals even when other people are worried for him. and most importantly about how not everyone can be happy with an outcome. i think it would have been really good for subaru to represent someone overcome with depression about how awful the world is and paralyzed with that sadness and kamui would be the rightous anger and compassion needed to actually change the world. “lets this radicalize you rather than lead you to despair” you know? it would have been a really good parallel considering part of x’s themes are literally about having compassion for humanity. but that reading possibly shoots itself in the foot because the language used wrt the two possible futures are things to stay as they are or for a “revolution” to occur, meaning killing everyone to let the earth heal. so ideas of change are insinuated to be connected with the seven angels and genocide. which uh. not going to get into that.
i do like when he starts going to the clamp school he goes back to being shy and quiet and kind of gets pushed around by people with more force of personality. very fun uncomfortably relatable. its ok man im extremely passive too.
anyway final thoughts kamui needs more passion. clamp give me the rights. also let subaru and kamui hang out and have a brotherly bond. no creepy shit. just subaru being an akward older brother that knows what kamuis going thru and gives bad advice bc he has god awful coping mechanisms.
side note we arent ever told about his likes/dislikes hobby or anything of that nature. the blankest of slates. so my city now. i think hes into obscure indie music and has thousands of hours in various life sim games like animal crossing and stardew valley.

* i m not making this post  because i dont want hans to be a sociopath in fact i have a huge period where i was adoring the idea to have an evil prince as a sociopath. I mainly make this post because i have a personal anger against how fiction portray mental illness Obviously i m not a professional but both my parents are they are psychiatrist and i saw myself in serie movies some inaccurate things based on what they told me about their jobs. I also have issues with all the stereotype we have about mental illness. And really i knows that i m not in the writer head but i feel jennifer lee statement “sociopath are more interesting “when she talk about hans is link to all this stereotypes we have.
Tumblr media
She say two things that for me reveal than she is not talking seriously and we shouldn't consider what she say seriously or canon.
She say that she has herself a sociopath mind. She say it twice in a interview suggesting that she just throw the world like that. ( i know this is very subjective what i say)
And mostly also Jennifer lee " Jennifer: Well, what’s interesting was it was a big — there was a lot of debate about that, not when to give it away. And John Lasseter particularly really didn’t want to. He loved it so much not to that he would push to the extreme sometimes where my sociopathic mind would break down because I’d be like, no, no, no, he wouldn’t do that because he’s calculating"
Based on reasearch and what my parents told me , Sociopath are impulsive there are not calculating if they are they dont elaborate plans and calculate everything like hans did. Professional saw them as hot-headed. When they do something they don't think that much before. So it did put in question about what jennifer lee say.
So i wanted to discuss is hans a sociopath ? I already talk that in my blog but i talk a lot about a frozen heart so here i m gonna put to the side all the complementary informations we have about him in the book. So this post is only based on hans behavior in the movie.
I find a interesting website about : how to write sociopath.https://www.writerscookbook.com/how-to-write-a-sociopath/
So lets see if hans behavior is faithful to how socipath act :
Tumblr media
-They’re nervous and easily agitated
hans never show that in frozen on the contrary they show him to be calm and patient.
X
-They have no impulse control
they also show us hans to be in control. This is because hans is in control that he almost succeeded in his plans. The first thing that comes in my mind right here is hans reaction when he discovered elsa is not in the prison anymore he is angry but doesnt show it at all and stay calm and do nothing stupid.
X
-They don’t understand emotions
sociopath  the website say “ They won’t understand that they should be sympathetic if another character’s relative dies. They may react ambivalently, or not react at all.” he knows how to act at each moment, and understand exactly how to talk to people. Anna is sad he tell her "i will never shout you out"
with hans there is this idea that he is reflecting other people this is use to explain his anti social personality disorder.
Hans is not all the time mirroring people in the movie. When he is alone he show to be able to feel sympathy and tenderness. ( the scene where he is under the boat) he has also others scenes when he is not mirroring people. So hans knows how to act with people emotions without mirroring them.
Hans show emotional intelligence :
"Emotional intelligence refers to the capability of a person to manage and control his or her emotions and possess the ability to control the emotions of others as well. In other words, they can influence the emotions of other people also."
He knows exactly what to say to elsa.
-" dont be the monster they fear you are"  when Hans tell that he is mirroring no one.
-"You re sister is dead because of you" in this scene Hans is tone is accusatory while elsa feel is desperation.  He twice show to have a big influence on elsa behavior because he understand her emotions perfectly and know how to play with them. he use that to makes elsa weak and be able to kill her.
-Hans know how to control the emotion of anna horse and succeeded to calm it.
-Hans knows how to control the emotions of the duke of weselton and succeeded to calm him.  he has influence on his behavior.
-Hans also knows to influence anna emotions she was sad and then he appeared and succeeded in making her happy and seduce her.
-Hans knows what to say to anna to hurt her he is not mirroring her. " oh anna if only there was someone out there who loved you" when he knows that he say to her he loved her.
He influence the emotions of others. He perfectly knows how to control his emotions and manage them when he play the sad fiance all along when what he was feeling was excitement. he control his anger also when elsa is not in the prison anymore.
“In other words, emotional intelligence can be used for good or evil. This is the dark side of emotional intelligence: using one’s knowledge of emotions to strategically achieve self-serving goals. Much as a person possessing a brilliant intellect could become an accomplished detective or a criminal mastermind, one with a superior emotional quotient has a choice between two very different paths: using their influence to help or to harm.” Time
the movie show us three things : hans feel emotions , he can control them and he is a master in playing with the emotions of others.
X
-They don’t plan things
hans plan things. hans presence in arendelle is because he plan things he plan to woo the future queen in order to be king so we knows hans is able to project himself in the future. He then makes plan to marry anna. We saw him making plan during the whole movie. Hans own presence in arendelle is because of plans that he makes.
This suggest than if hans is really a sociopath then he would have never go in arendelle.
X
-They’re unreliable
“Being impulsive and doing things on a whim can be fun, but it can make life difficult for your other characters”
Hans obviously show to be unreliable to anna since he is comploting against her back but anna is not his goal since the beginning he is not with her but much more with the crown. he show to be faithful and reliable to arendelle citizens and devote to the kingdom. Sociopath are unreliable because there are impulsive When hans left to die anna this is Not the sign of an impulsive choice but something he has thought about previously if anna return alive he would have continue to play the fiance all along and show nothing he would have been 100% faithful to anna in order to have what he want and anna would have not even realize hans has others intentions in mind. Sociopath are unreliable because there are impulsive , Hans is not impulsive he is the whole contrary he think a lot and calculate everything in the movie. so based on the information of the website if it happened to him to be unreliable this is not in the same way sociopath are unreliable.
X
-They don’t learn from their mistakes
“ Unlike most of us, they don’t learn from their mistakes. They don’t have the patience to think through and analyse what’s happened to them.”
we doesn't knows about that ! the movie never tell us how hans react to his mistake. now compare to the explication , hans show to be patient and show to analyze a lot of things. so this is possible he can do that for himself.
~
-They tell lies
hans tell  lies  but he also tell truth to anna during the night of the coronation. So he is able to tell truth when he could have lied. even the whole hans lies to anna about loving her is very very ambiguous in the movie because of the scene when they meet and he is alone. this is highly possible than Hans has like her and enjoy his time with her while developing a crush on her and then once in arendelle’s regent he concentrate on what is important for him. the crown ! not anna !
-They’re manipulative
hans show us his skills in manipulation ! he manipulate the dignitaries , he manipulate anna , he manipulate elsa.
\/
Edit : i have maybe overestimate finally the factor manipulative hans is defintly manipulative but we can argue that maybe he didnt manipulate anna that much because of this scene where he look at anna in love where he is alone:
Tumblr media
-They have difficulty forming attachments
we doesn't know about that one. we only saw hans with anna he has pass only the coronation night with her. ( he seem to have a big attachment with arendelle citizens XD)
so based on how a sociopath should be write hans is not very well written 5 traits of the traits hans show a behavior that is in total contradiction with sociopath 1 is accurate to sociopath ,  two we doesn't knows.
so now , maybe hans  still has antisocial personality disorder but belong to an extreme of the spectrum ? psychopath ? so we saw if hans is write like how sociopath act let just see  if hans shows symptoms of Anti social personality disorder based on the informations we have about him in the movie ?
Edit about " no remorse " found a post about a newspaper from disney park saying hans was doing penance iimplying that he did show remorse and a desire to learn from his mistake others people tought that maybe it was a synonym to punishement so choose to put it here in the end we dont really know but this is still an information since hans reaction to his crimes was never show in the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disregard for right and wrong
Hans believe that he could be the hero who is gonna saved arendelle from destruction. He wanted to do something that for him is right but use poor way to do it.
I think we doesnt really knows because at the moment hans say he was going to stage a little accident for elsa he view her as a monster who has froze her whole kingdom and need to be killed in order to bring back summer. Maybe hans of the begining with elsa benediction and without the knowledge of her powers would struggle to killed her. ( ?)
( but what i say is an assumption we doesnt really knows hans disregard right ans wrong in the movie but we dont know how much he do that in his every day life )
Persistent lying or deceit to exploit others
Hans lies in the movie we doesn't knows if this is persistent but he also say truth to anna when he could have lied. He did exploit anna unfortunately we doesn't know how much hans exploit anna since we saw him showing affection for the princess in the beginning of the movie under the boat and before knew she was the princess. Everything is ambiguous..
Being callous, cynical and disrespectful of others
Hans was cynical and disrespectful to anna , he show to be concern and have respect for arendelle citizens. The movie never tell us if hans was genuine or not. The fact that he want to be a hero for arendelle imply that he did have respect for arendelle citizens.
Using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or personal pleasure
Very much positive.
Arrogance, a sense of superiority , high sense of self-importance , and being extremely opinionated
Hans show arrogance , we doesn't know if he feel  a sense of superiority and if he has a high sense of self importance. it could be possible because he wants to be king.
But...
hans tell in the movie than three of his brothers pretend that he was invisible , he talk about finding his own place and also about forgetting the pain of the past. the creator confirmed that hans did not lied and is the product of an unloving environment.
all of this imply he  is most likely to have low self esteem and doesn’t feel important that’s what drive him into becoming a king.
Recurring problems with the law, including criminal behavior
we doesn't knows. but which king will send to a coronation a son who have recurring problem with law and criminal behavior ? so the answer is most likely no !
Repeatedly violating the rights of others through intimidation and dishonesty
Hans did it once with Anna we doesn't knows about the factor “ repeatedly”
Impulsiveness or failure to plan ahead
Hans is not impulsive but think about what he did , he calculate everything he knows how to plan ahead.
Hostility, significant irritability, agitation, aggression or violence
he never show that behavior in the movie. hans show to knows how to be calm and patient he show hostility to anna. again if anna has return without a frozen heart he would have say nothing and anna would have never realize hans intentions are not genuine. So hans show to be patient and calm.
Let also say something 😅 after...his horse make him fall on the water , realize he need to seduced the princess instead of the queen , having a no from elsa , anna arguing with her sister , the sisters having magical powers , the sister run away his future fiance try to find her and leave him , her horse go back without her , not finding her again , find her sister , sister nearly got killed and the kingdom is still frozen , sister break away from prison hans reaction is to stay calm show nothing but only : he really has high tolerance to frustation.😅
Tumblr media
Lack of empathy for others and lack of remorse about harming others
- Hans show no empathy for anna when he left her to die ans harm her - hans show empathy/concern  for anna when she fell on the boat and he didn't knew she was the princess. he show to be able to calm a horse - Hans show no empathy for elsa when he tried to kill her. - hans show to have concern for arendelle citizens the movie never tell us if this is true or false , it only hans feeling for anna that were not genuine the fact the he wants to be a hero for arendelle citizens and wants to be king show than this is highly concern than hans has concern for arendelle citizens. he doesn't want to be a tyrant.
Unnecessary risk-taking or dangerous behavior with no regard for the safety of self or others
- once in charge of the kingdom hans took the situation with responsibility , he give cloak and blanket to the citizens who were cold.
Poor or abusive relationships
we doesn't knows about that. Hans abuse anna trust not anna herself in the movie. has he has elsa benediction hans would have treat anna like a queen  because 100% dependant on her to be a king we also knows he never planned to killed her since he never say that in his mologue. so anna would have think everything is alright in her relationship and would have never knows that hans is interest by her position to the throne and is the one who had killed her sister. She would have a good relationship with him and not suffered of any abuse.
Failure to consider the negative consequences of behavior or learn from them
we doesn't knows what is hans reaction to the consequence of his negative behavior.
Being consistently irresponsible and repeatedly failing to fulfill work or financial obligations :
Again hans show to act responsable in term of work but well he wants to be king so he wants to have responsabilities. He show to suceed when put in charge by anna and accomplish his obligations. We knows that by the citizens reactions to his presence.
"Adults with antisocial personality disorder typically show symptoms of conduct disorder before the age of 15. Signs and symptoms of conduct disorder include serious, persistent behavior problems, such as:"
Aggression toward people and animals
Hans has an horse with him that is not afraid of him his horse fall makes him fall on the water he is not angry at him ( with that we would have see he is a villain 😄) he also show in the movie to be able to have the confidence of an horse and succeded to calm it while looking in its eyes.
Destruction of property
We doesnt knows again if he did that in the past he would not have been send to elsa coronation 😅
Deceitfulness
He show that with anna we doesnt knows about his others relationship.
Theft
we doesn't know again is hans has steal in the past , again he would not have been send to be an official dignateries in arendelle.
Serious violation of rules
hans violate morality in the movie , Once in charge in arendelle he doesnt show violation of rules and act with responsability. Again who send to a coronation prince that seriously violate rules 🤨
* i keep findind contrary information like psychopath have low emotional intelligence then the contrary now i m discovering that antisocial personality disorder and psychopath are two different things 🤨
So let just see if hans has psychopath symptoms :
Tumblr media
Superficial charm and glibness v
Inflated sense of self-worth
Imply this is the contrary since it is confirmed he comes from a family that make him feel worthless.
Constant need for stimulation
We doesnt knows.
Lying pathologically
Not show in the movie say truth when could have lied.
Conning others; being manipulative v
Lack of remorse or guilt
We doesnt knows since remorse come after the actions ? Not during the actions ? He show guilt to have make anna fall on the boat when he didnt knew she was the princess.
Shallow emotions
The scene under the boat suggest the contrary.
Callousness; lack of empathy
Like i say it before. Moment he show no empathy moment he show to be concern for others.
Using others (a parasitic lifestyle)
Use anna and elsa doesnt know if he did it often in his everyday life.
Poor control over behavior
Show opposed behavior in the movie.
Promiscuous sexual behavior
We Doesnt know😅but the fact that he refuse to kiss anna when he could have done it and didnt have sex with her during the coronation when he could have judging by his influence on her ( this is a kid movie i know 😆) and even say her to slow down when she beg her tp kiss her for me show that he is not very interest in sex😅
Behavioral problems early in life
We doesnt knows but the movie suggest the contrary , since hans has 12 olders brothers and he is the one who was send if he had early behavior problem in life and continued when he was less than 15 years old i doubt he will have been send at all.
Lack of realistic, long-term goals
Hans goal is to marry the queen and become king i think since he is a prince this is realistic. The only thing that prevent that to happened was elsa ice powers.
Being impulsive
Contrary behavior
Being irresponsible
Contrary behavior. Hans wants to have responsabilities.
Blaming others and refusing to accept responsibility
Accept responsability we dont know if hans blame others.
Having several marital relationships
We doesnt know but he is a prince so dont think so.
Delinquency when young
Based on the movie we dont know...but again if hans has show delinquency when young , i think he would not have been send to be at elsa coronation event.
Conclusions :
- he show a behavior in contradiction to how a sociopath should be written.
- in term of anti social personality disorder there are things that he doesnt have but show opposite attitute , hans is manipulative and show shallow charm this is what he has mainly in common with anti social personality disorder there is a lot thing we doesnt knows. This is highly possible that if hans has anti social personality disorder he would not have been in arendelle at all because the symtoms and problematic behavior appears before 15 years old, hans is 23 years old and chosen from 12 of his brothers to go to an important royal events.
Last word of the end : i try my best to talk about fact and all the things we saw in the movie without making wrong interpretation again i m not a professional but someone with a Disney princes obsession disorder 🙂
