MY GOODNESS. it's been a hot minute since i posted the first part and i guess i just couldn't SHUT UP because this is FOURTEEN PAGES LONG. FOURTEEN. you can even see some pages where the linework is slightly different because i drew it like 6-ish weeks ago, that's how long this has been cooking. drawing in general has been hard lately because of time constraints, BUT i am so happy i finished this. this is like my fav project even tho it isnt as popular, but who cares!!!!! godddddddddddd the vibes/agonizing Cinematique Parallels & Contrasts between taash and a romanced lucanis when harding sacrifices herself are just. unspeakable. and excruciating. they keep going through the same experiences, but taash repeatedly watches lucanis get back what he thought he'd lost, disbelievingly, in ways he would never have dared to hope for in his wildest dreams if it had even occurred to him to do so or have those. while they just. don't. nothing ever comes back for them. lucanis gets his tama back he gets rook back he even gets to keep his cousin in some fashion any way it shakes out. and how on earth could you ever begrudge him any of that for even a moment, especially if you had to see his eyes every day while rook was gone. but also here you stand with your empty hands and your burned-out ruin of a heart with nothing to show for all your love but grief and ash. what do you say to each other after something that. what could you possibly say to each other. what the fuck. what the hell.

there are some incredibly painful and difficult things that can happen between all these people even when no one is acting with anything but the best of intentions every step of the way, and it's such a good theme that keeps breaking through in the writing in this game. it doesn't matter if it's true (because of course it isn't, it's just an illogical but understandable emotional reaction), the guilty feeling that your happiness is at the expense of the happiness of someone else you care about is always lurking. we are inextricably linked. for good, and for ill. joy and regret unavoidably intertwined -- you don't get one fully without the other. and taash truly gets. mostly regret, depending on what you do. jesus christ.

also this is why I don't mind the 'lack of conflict' between the main cast at all. that's the fucking point. horrible and heartwrenching things can still happen between people without active malice or harmful intentions or even fundamental disagreements ever entering into it at all. isn't that awful? isn't that painful to sit with? that you can mean no harm and still cause it, even -- sometimes especially -- to people you love? doesn't it fill you with a very specific kind of dread that actions however well-intentioned have consequences you couldn't have forseen but have to live with now anyway and you won't always be the one to pay the price; that's not under your control?

Everyone knows what you gotta do in these scenarios. Your loved ones will cry (“awe, Dickie, you do care”), they’ll try to find a different way (“shut up Bruce. Even you can’t concoct a cure in two hours”) and blame themselves (“fuck you, Timmers, I want you to know I died because you wanted that damn coffe!”…. Yeah, he could have handled that one better in hindsight) and then, ultimately, they’re gonna put a bullet in your brain. For the sake of the group.

And it’s fine, really. Better than turning into a mindless, flesh eating meat sack. He was ready. He got to say goodbye. It’s fine.

Or it would have been fine, if any of those damn cowards had pulled the friggin trigger.

Now Jason is clinically semi-dead (don’t ask him, he doesn’t know how this shit works either) and still annoyingly in charge of his mental faculties while also harboring a rather concerning craving for human flesh.

the nice thing about the end of the year is that everyone puts out their "best of 2024" lists, which is a good chance for me to comb through and start listening to new music.

for example, I put together a playlist from the New Yorker's list, and discovered that I love Yasmin Williams, Adrienne Lenker, Waxahatchee and Jake Xerxes Fussell; now I've moved on to Billboard's list, and I'm chilling to LATIN MAFIA while assembling the playlist.

Just imagine for a second. Cas and Dean working a case together near Fort Collins and Cas dragging Dean to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Dean doesn’t want to go there, because museums are boring, except maybe the part with the dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are kinda cool, otherwise there’s no point in visiting a natural history museum, but since Cas wants to, well, they go anyway.

They do the tour around the parts where all the rocks are exposed. Cas is amazed by all of them, by their shapes and colors. He sees that Dean is not as interested as he is, even when Cas tells him where the rocks come from.

“I remember. This one was formed during the splitting of the continents, precisely between Europe and Africa. It was slow if you look at it from the human perspective but it’s actually fascinating.” Dean nods here and there, but Cas knows how to get his attention. "Look, Dean. The color of that quartz, it's beautiful." He starts, bending a little over the glass case protecting the rocks, pointing at the bright green one in front of him.

"Yeah, yeah." Dean answers, quickly glancing at the object of Cas's amazement, but really, he doesn’t want to look at pebbles right now, he would have preferred to go watch a movie or grab a bite at the diner they saw on their way to the museum instead.

"The green here is almost as beautiful as the one in your eyes." Cas states, his fingers brushing along Dean's arm tenderly. Dean looks at him suddenly with wide eyes, his cheeks start to tint a little. "And this pink is almost as intense as the one appearing on your cheeks right now." Cas smiles proudly, pointing at a pinkish rock next to the green one, and kisses Dean's cheek as he intertwines their fingers.

He stops near Dean’s ear, his lips brushing it, his other hand cupping Dean’s jaw. “Maybe we can visit the bathroom later.” He whispers then he drags by the hand a speechless and flustered Dean behind him to continue the tour.

However none of them compare to Yuu, who's painstakingly taking notes as they're learning two languages at once from the app since their own language doesn't exist in TWST. Almost a year here and they still don't know honorifics but they do know how to ask if someones boyfriend is a horse with various slurs picked up by students.
