Obvs in the books Lestat couldn’t read as a human because he was poor and didn’t have an education, and he only learned how to read when he was a vampire bcus vampires have magic where they can learn to do anything with unnatural clarity by just watching a human do it, bcus of their symbolic supernatural ability to mimic and preform humanity when they aren’t actually a part of it.

This implies that lestat never rlly learned how to read in the same way he never learned how to drive bcus he can only do these things by pretending to preform them by watching humans. I think, symbolically, the way lestat feels about not being able to read brings about disability imagery. There’s a part in the vampire Lestat where he says that Nicolas was angry with him for not being able to read bcus lestat relied on Nicolas to help him learn his lines (cuz he couldn’t read his scripts) and this was a chore Nicolas didn’t like doing. Lestat having to rely on other ppl to help him do things bcus he can’t read is a reoccurring thing in the first bit of the vampire Lestat. It’s also implied that he has more trouble with learning how to read then he should, partly bcus of how his brain works and partly bcus no one is willing to help him. Lestat was taught how to read for a few months or so when he was twelve going to school at the monastery and he didn’t retain anything but the ability to write his name.

bcus of this canon info, my headcanon is that lestat has learning disabilities like dyslexia and adhd which, in addition to his poor upbringing, make navigating the world hard for him when he was born in a climate where no one was willing to help him or teach him, partly bcus he has needs that are harder to meet. I think lestat being disabled in a way that makes him harder to teach rlly makes sense when u consider his conflict and trauma in tvl where he explains that he was super self hating as a child bcus he realized that no one was ever willing to teach him how to learn or grow bcus no one ever had any faith in him. Like how Gabrielle was able to read and even tho she could, she never taught lestat how to read despite his interest. I think it’s possible that Gabrielle didn’t teach lestat how to read bcus she realized how difficult it was for him to learn and didn’t have the energy to push through that with him

It just makes sm sense to me that lestat has learning disabilities since it’s a huge part of his character in tvl that he is desperate to learn and to read and to grow as a person but he finds it incredibly hard especially since no one is willing to give him the chance. Lestat is rlly relatable to me as someone who knows what it’s like to love reading and learning and being held back by disability, so that’s mostly where my headcanons come from lol

Granted I am unsure Adrien/Marinette is a done thing, but like... I could see it being that Adrien makes it into school and books it into class, thus disrupting the argument over seats.

Chloe greets him, or has to run off to scare away his throngs of fans. & then is like, "Oh I was just in the middle of arranging our seats!" but Adrien, being a polite boy is just like.

"Oh its fine they don't need to move just so we can sit together, I mean we'll be seeing each other at lunch and every other day anyway right?"

Chloe can't/doesn't exactly want to argue with that or Adrien so while not thrilled she obscures and rolls with it. So Marinette's kinda like, low key side eying Adrien a bit at first but isn't instantly "He's an enemy" either.

In that regard, things could go very well for them & also avoid Marinette hitting the "Cannot talk around him" levels of awkwardness before they become a thing, but I'm unsure its a certainty.

Regardless, I still can't figure out how Gabriel would use the Prodigious in this scenario XD Even the altered varieties I cam up with don't allow him to operate from afar. Maybe he somehow uses it to safely wield the the Peacock perhaps indirectly?

Lestat - Usually Armand is second but I'm in a Lestat mood this week sorry babygirl. I like how he is the opposite of Louis in aesthetics and personality. Though I don't love that he becomes the protag in the books, I understand AR's reasoning and will still enjoy them

MY FPE OCS!

If you read my new about me yk I’m in the FPE fandom. And I also have a few OCs too! This fandom honestly has a wide variety you could make so it was rlly fun making these guys. I will say tho there are some OCs I have yet to draw but I’ll say somethint about them ^^

This first one is Miss Aidoki! A silly lady who’s also a massive sweetheart. She unlike most teachers has a higher chance of sparing failing students. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t uh…Eliminate some now and then. She is the school nurse and health teacher! She’s about 35 and LOVES desserts! (Especially Strawberry cake!) she also has a son named Gabriel Aidoki, but I have yet to draw him digitally but you may see him in future content!

Next up is…

Miss Sai! This crazy gal is the Astronomy teacher with multiple weird lil features about her. She can do things like turn her head all the way around (like an owl). She’s an odd lass but who isn’t in this universe am I right? She has a sister, a niece, and a nephew. Her nieces name is “Luna” and her Nephews name is “Sunny”.

I’m not not completely sure on which of the seven (tho actually 10 important gods in total) should be alive during the actual plot.

Obv Michaela/owl lady is alive, she’s the one that betrayed everyone. So is Lucifer/crow boi as one of the main secondary characters, Gabriel/as the mc, and Raziel/raven boi as another important side character.

As for the one I’m sure should be dead that would be Chamuel/eagle boi as he was the old ruler before Michaela took over.

Everyone else is 50/50 tho

The remaining undecided ones would be:

Ariel/crane lady - the engineer responsible for the achievement of making the country of Eden into a large floating island and other technological stuff, main power of telekinesis. Haven’t actually developed her background nor a concrete personality yet as not quite sure which one to go with for her, but I think I’d want her to lean more on the nicer and humane side (like Azrael) compared to the rest of the birbs

Raphael/peacock boi - husband of Chamuel and with the main power of controlling diseases (bacterial, viral and fungi) so essentially a doctor disguised as a bioweapon, I feel like going for a personality similar to Hera for him (hence the peacock)

Azrael/vulture boi - younger brother of Michaela and son of Chamuel+Raphael with the main power of healing/repairing tissue, thus also a doctor but primarily known as the mortician that aids with fixing bodies for funerals, going for more of an Ares (asshole exterior and sweetheart inside) with this boi and having his relationship with Michaela be something like Athena and Ares would have

Metatron/ibis boi - essentially want to make him be like Thoth, main power of looking into the events that have happened in the past in a given place, and as well as the ‘memories/experiences’ of an object. Can also enter the mind to look into the past memories of people. However, when he spends time in these memories, his physical body is very vulnerable and unresponsive in this state. Mans the library where every single knowledge the birb bois have obtained is stored

Jophiel/swan lady - main power of knowing whatever it is that someone desires the most and as well as what they want to do/wish for in a given moment, (contrast to Raziel having the power to know a person’s fears) and as another contrast to Raziel, while Raziel runs illegal business but is himself a kind and understanding businessman, Jophiel runs legal businesses but is a lot more cutthroat in her business (and a more cruel/strict person in general)

And yes Raphael and Chamuel adopted Azrael and Michaela, where they found em? Idk yet

(And while I like to call these 10 bois ‘the seven’ even tho 10 not equal 7 is cause: Garbiel and Raziel just aren’t considered part as they treat Gabriel more like an important minor god and don’t acknowledge Raziel cause he deals with ‘underground/illegal/shady’ things. anyways my thoughts on the first two episodes of slasher: ripper, a show none of you should see because it was created for me and specifically me and only i contain the wisdom to suffer it.

so like so far the widow hasn't so much killed the rich and corrupt as she killed people specifically saying "you should kill garvey". like okay horatio is a pimp and that's evil but specifically is shown protecting the sex workers in his employ, while enid (sob sob) is specifically targeted for making up the ripper story and getting a potentially innocent man get executed. either way, either the widow is actually protecting garvey somehow or just killing people complicit in covering up what happened to margaret. in any case maybe i'll still get horatio & crenshaw backstory.

the guy who plays garvey was the guy who played will in will & grace and like obviously it's a very different character and he looks fairly different now but i still get that lil moment of hey that's will from will & grace before he does something horrendous. kinda silver fox tho.

the biggest differentiator so far, and maybe it's just because it's only been the first two episodes but so far we haven't gotten the drawn-out-through-episode flashbacks for the character who is absolutely going to be horrifically murdered at the end of the episode. now i believe season 2 & 4 started off this tradition in their second episodes, but i have to doublecheck if season 3 did as well? in any case i do still have hope of the drawn-out-through-episode flashbacks being restored.

i feel like the widow's kills have been less gory or explicit so far? like the kill at the end of ep2 was still great but so far, less inspiration. again something that could be fixed in the rest of the season, and also it's the 1890s serial killers had less tools to work with.

I've been brainrotting over this for weeks because Overwatch and Star Wars are two of my fave content to consume and I've been in both these fandoms for so long so-

Overwatch Star Wars au, where Overwatch were the Jedi Order, Blackwatch were Jedi shadows/sentinels.

Reyes as a Jedi Shadow and his little unconventional padawan Cole Cassidy, former teen criminal with enormous potential in the force that Reyes decided to pick up and train despite his age and past.

Ana and Jack are Jedi Masters and part of the council.

The fall of Overwatch would happen very similarly to Order 66, where most of the members get killed and hunted down.

Gabriel Reyes "dies" similarly to Anakin Skywalker and in his place emerges Sith Lord Reaper. As does Talon, similarly to the birth of the empire. Not all Talon members would be Sith ofc. I imagine Doomfist at the very least would be. While Widowmaker is the wife of Senator Lacroix, similarly to in game lore she gets kidnapped and brainwashed. Sombra is probably a mercenary working for Talon. Moira is an inquisitor, former Jedi sentinel, she enjoys capturing former jedi and torturing/experimenting on them, she's responsible for the fall of many former jedi turned inquisitors.

For our Overwatch people, they're also not all going to be Jedi. Ana and Jack, obv. With their respective padawans Fareeha and Lena. Winston as well, plus Angela as a Jedi Healer. Reinhardt and his padawan Brigitte.

Genji would've been part of the Shimada clan, a group of force users that kept themselves separated from Jedi or Sith. Same as in Canon he'd be cut apart by Hanzo and saved by Angela, after which he joins the Jedi. He leaves a few years before the fall to find himself and goes to the monks in the temple of Jedha, where he meets Zenyatta, a force user who is neither jedi nor Sith, not good nor evil, he's in the balance and so he decides to study under him. Hanzo on the other hand completely abandons his lightsabers, same as he stops using his sword in game after "killing Genji".

Post Recall members:

Baptiste as a former Talon Inquisitor, joins the reformed Overwatch and learns how to heal instead of killing.

Cassidy takes on Hana as a padawan and with her he rejoins Overwatch (who he had ditched a little before the fall after having grown disillusioned with them and seeing the corruption that was brewing inside). He does however spend a long time as a merc before taking back his lightsaber and accepting himself as a jedi.

For now this is all my little peabrain could come up with. Mind that the story revolves mainly around Jack, Gabriel and Cassidy. As they kind of replace Obi-wan, Anakin and Ahsoka. (No Jack was not Gabriel's master but they had a strong brotherly bond like Obi-wan and Anakin so I think they fit the roles pretty well).

I do however have some more details on the characters I managed to fit in.

Ana and Fareeha are not mother and daughter but they're from the same clan and they're both Mirialan, they do have a mother and daughter relationship tho. They both have blue lightsabers.

Jack also has a blue lightsaber and he's the order's grandmaster.

Gabriel wields two lightsabers, one purple and one blue, they both turn red after his fall.

(I'm considering making Jack and Gabriel the children of the prophecy. Which they both fail by fighting eachother instead of being in balance. Jack as the light side of the force and Gabriel as the dark side. Kinda like on mortis we have the son and the daughter and the balance gets upset by the son killing the daughter- So yeah Gabriel has completely fallen to the dark side and intent on destroying the light side while Jack is grey-ish and obsessed with revenge and justice, they're terrible at their jobs.)

Cole wields one lightsaber, green. His skills in the force far outclass his lightsaber skills, especially since he greatly favours wielding a blaster in his other hand. He was actually discovered as force sensitive because of his pin point accurate shots. Which he later discovers to be guided by the force and that for years he's unknowingly used the force to guide his aim as well as even maneuvering the blaster fire (basically giving him the equivalent of deadeye in this universe).

Hana has a blue lightsaber, though with her being a pilot and being trained by Cole she's also an accelent shot and doesn't rely too heavily on her lightsaber.

Winston is a lasat, he wields a green bladed saberstaff, though he's more of a scholar than a fighter. (Like Plo Koon he can use the jedi technique of electric judgment)

Moira never made her crystals bleed and she wields a purple and a yellow lightsaber. While she is an inquisitor she's not Sith. She doesn't use the dark side to fuel her, preferring science and force techniques from either side of the force, knowledge is knowledge and she wants it all.

Lena has a blue lightsaber and a blue shoto. She's also an accomplished pilot and it's usually her or Hana that are flying the crew around. Though Hana specialises in combat flying much more compared to Lena.

Baptiste has a white lightsaber, after having healed his own crystal.

Angela has a green shoto, she really only uses it in self defence since she heavily dislikes having to result to violence and her abilities are much more focused on force healing. She's strong enough to be able to bring someone back from the brink of death (which is what she did with Genji).

Genji has a green lightsaber and a green shoto, tho he also uses various tools at his disposal, like traps or smoke bombs.

Hanzo used to have two blue lightsabers, but he's since put them to rest and now favours an energy bow. Similarly to Cassidy he uses the force to guide his aim, making him a formidable sniper.

Doomfist has a red Saberstaff and he's a kiffar! (He's always wearing gloves or gauntlets of some kind since he has psychometry)

OK so on the topic of shekinah I was googling some stuff trying to figure out how her as a face/iteration of YHWH in smt fits into the larger picture of the Law God(TM) smt has

OK so just on like a general understanding of it, shekinah being the manifestation of YHWH that sort of comes down to earth and lives with the life that exists there, a grounded manifestation fits pretty well w/ strange journey's themes of global climate change/the earth itself acting as agent and enemy regardless of how that manifestation formulates itself on a DND alignment chart.

but that's pretty basic and I did some vague digging and found a topic about fire in judaism and to quote:

And OK so on an element level Mem Aleph is already associated with water (which like life springing from a primordial water-goddess is already a big mythological theme, tiamat being an obv ex)

Tangentially Jimenez's races being "Awake" (which the kanji used can also mean "disillusioned") and "Soil", and Zelenin's being "Judge" and "Pillar, I think it's interesting how both of the first form names have a kanji for "person" of some kind within them but the 2nd form are like, Things, and especially things kind of associated with the earth itself. dust to dust kind of joke maybe? Like humans that have so to speak evolved beyond humanity still maintain to a certain level the inescapability of form and origin?

ANYWAY back to shekinah.

On one hand the there being 6 kinds of fires matches with there being 6 fragments of the cosmic fruit, but on the other she's weak to fire in 2 of her forms lol. In none of her forms does she reflect fire tho, and in 2 of them she drains but lol I think it's just the basic weakness shifting boss OPness more than any attempt to be like, metatextual. she also has 6 eyes is a design choice i noticed. this could mean nothing :)

On a different note regarding fire descending from heaven and fear of a firey flood thing, based on the only other SMT game I've played that does basically happen in Devil Survivor re: the government's final plan to have the angels fry the Yamanote Circle and kill everybody. So yeah very on theme lore happening across the board I suppose.

Also IDK how accurate the fire/water/spirit triad is bc I got this from literally 1 source thru a cursory google search but if the " the spirit became pregnant and gave birth to wisdom." line is accurate then that fits the SMT shoehorning of where humanity fits within this cosmic battle, in that the best and worst thing abt humans is their infinite potential and ability of choice, which in strange journey is reflected by the crew making their alignment choices and specifically the starting-neutral MC making the keystone decision regarding the fate of humanity.

Also another random thing I saw from the source I linked was a line that said "The Torah has two fires, the oral and the written law..." which I donot have qualification to talk about the meaning of on an actual scriptural level, but Shekinah does have her Tora moveset that gives a barrier based on alignment, which I think might be something close to the origin of the naming of that if nothing else.

So yeah! Lots of potential lore I've scrounged up that I am once again unable to piece together more coherently into the larger picture.

EDIT: OH last thing I saw but in this source it said "In particular, the shekhinah is a holy fire that resides within the home of a married couple. The shekhinah is the highest of six types of holy fire. When a married couple is worthy of this manifestation, all other types of fire are consumed by it."

Which, who knows what that means! But IG the fact that you only fight her after basically adopting Alex with your chosen alignment-based bestie (or alone in Neutral route) it means you are now in shared adopted child marriage. I love future fics, but I find it unrealistic that Mari and Adrien give up their miraculous and kwamis so soon, when they don’t really need to, esp. when they just end up creating more child soldiers. You might have taken a meander into my pinned post in which you can see that Adrien I have my very own future fic. I wrote that.... probably from July 2020 to December 2020? I dunno, been a while since I did anything with it, but I got like 20k words of material. Not in any particular order, but it's there in my Google Drive.

In that fic, Adrien is actually the person who runs the business behind Marinette's boutique/also Chat Noir because Marinette actually runs a lot of that herself and Adrien has people to save. (Nino is a SAHD in that one, which I absolutely adore and will talk on more if prompted.)

I also freaking LOVE the idea of Marinette taking Adrien's last name (while Adrien takes Marinette's last name; you know, switcherooni) so that she can legally use "Agreste Fashion" without worrying about any copyright of any sort (though legally that copyright might belong to Adrien? I haven't brushed up on copyright in the EU in a while so).

I absolutely agree; it's always super weird when I read fics or see art about the characters' little kids interacting with kwamis and stuff. Like yeah, they're little kids and their word doesn't mean much, but that doesn't mean that it's okay for them to be saying those types of things, and it would be a very gradual transition from "this is information, and I like saying information!" to "Oh yeah this is a secret that I can't tell anyone under any circumstances." In my next gen ML AU, the beginning of the story is actually all of the kids receiving their Miraculous; the youngest, Hugo, is 14. (Yeah yeah, child soliders thing; tbf there wasn't a villain actively terrorizing Paris until they gave their children the Miraculous, which is kinda their fault but that's beside the point, I love all the legacies equally.)

And yes, Tikki and Plagg interacting with babies is. Peak. I especially love "Tikki who can't be around a sleeping baby to save her life and Plagg who is sadly the only person who can sing this baby to sleep."

Oh my god that dream was the best fucking dream ever and it was so goddamn vivid too wtf.

It was a new episode of Miraculous but I was seeing the whole thing thru Adrian's eyes. Somehow Hawk Moth had found out his identity and planned a dinner party for some townspeople as well as Ladybug and Cat Noir. When Adrien knew he had to be there twice he lies to his dad abt there being a rlly important test to study for and said he'd be w Marinette but he was actually Cat Noir at the dinner party.

For some reason, Ladybug went as Marinette, probably cuz she wanted to see Adrien more than be Ladybug? Or she wanted to sus the place out in case it was a trap. Cat Noir kinda just chilled.

Then soon (btw in the dream Gabriel Agreste looked like Hawk Moth the whole time but that's dream logic, everyone perceives him as Gabriel Agreste) Hawk Moth told Cat Noir to meet his son Adrien. Obvs Cat was confused cuz he knew Adrien wasn't there rlly but Hawk Moth had told everyone he'd be there.

Hawk Moth showed him to one of those reclining chairs? Apparently Adrien was underneath it therefore if Cat wanted to see him he'd have to squeeze himself under there, meaning he's trapped.

He didn't see any other option tho and crawled under. Adrien was there but it wasn't Adrien. It was this stuffed animal axolotl dressed in Adrian's clothes.

It was way longer than this tho.

So that was funny. But now Cat's trapped.

Gabriel turns into Hawk Moth and announces to everyone that Cat Noir is his son, very bad. Ladybug appears but,, fuck, this was so goddamn vivid, I was actually terrified, I felt that fear so real. I ran out the door as fast as I could - he almost caught me, he was right behind me, but I jumped away on my lil staff. Then I went to a movie theatre to calm down, I was still pretty scared tho.

I rlly wish I could've seen to the end of it but my cat woke me up. It was such a good and vivid dream wtf

on the ranking of angels

the whole ranking of angels kinda comes from one guy: pseudo-dionysius the areopagite from 5th century ad, this dude gave us the basis for ranking angels in groups, levels, grades, choirs etc

we don’t really know who tf he was since he literally just made himself out to be some psuedo version of dionysius (because we obviously needed another dionysius in human history) and i’d love to time travel and kick him in the nads if i could.

anyway. so yeah. ranking angels. 

my upbringing is catholic and i went to communion and read that godsawful bible and blah-blah and so on so like, a lot of my own understanding stems from that and then the deranged Research Frenzies i’m known for. this means i’ve done learning about this topic and generally, i feel like there’s a bit of a... misunderstanding in the good omens fandom as to where aziraphale, crowley (as raphael or not), gabriel and co seem to land in terms of ranks and power levels.

cherubim, seraphim, archangels... fancy words we sort of know but don’t really Get. time to get em.

saraph/seraph-im:

according to tradition, these boys are top dog in christian theology but fifth in jewish. my memory serves to remind me that archangels are also seraphim and that the three main types of angels are cherubs, saraph, and thrones with the other spheres being more titles for them to have on top of that. i’ve read online where the archangels michael, gabriel, and samael/lucifer are either saraph or cherubs but this is... well, thanks to pseudo-dionysius, not exactly easy to frickin’ parse. the book of isaiah describes saraphs as having six wings (two on the back, two hiding the face, two at the feet/genitals).

this means that gabriel, lucifer, michael, uriel and even sandalphon (dude why no ‘iel’ on the end, it’s sad) are higher ranks than aziraphale in terms of sheer power even if they may be outranked by aziraphale regarding humans proper. make sense? nope? not surprising.

cherub-im:

cherubs attend to god and are also kinda shoved into the joyous role of guarding eden. in jewish theology, cherubs are either second or third lowest ranked (eighth or ninth) compared to the saraphs who are middle of the way. it’s from cherubs -- described in the book of ezekiel -- that we have that many faced, multi-winged conception of angels btw. usually a lion, ox, human, and eagle to represent all types of animals (where’s the snake you say? crowley nicked it... probably). thanks to some later western christian traditions we kinda see cherubs as plump, little, babies with those bows with love-heart arrows (probably crowley’s doing to piss aziraphale off). cherubs do have two pairs of wings (four in total) compared to the six that saraphs have, making them different at least there.

so aziraphale being a cherub makes sense. but he’s gonna be second-tier to saraphs like gab’ and co thus he does still obey gabriel as and when required--only in regards to humans can aziraphale kinda disobey because principality trumps archangel with humans but again, gabriel has more pull in heaven and can still punish him (plus gabriel is an asshole in the show and is Just Like That)

thrones aka ophanim:

these fellas are kinda just guards of gods throne. they’re called thrones or galgalim (refers to ezekiel’s wheels during his vision of the chariot). a dead sea scroll calls them angels and puts them below saraphs and cherubs while the book of enoch says they never sleep (like saraphs and cherubs) and guard god’s throne. i can’t really find any names ascribed to this group but are associated with meting out divine justice and maintain cosmic harmony.

i can only imagine how Done they are with crowley over him stopping time...

i’m just gonna straight up skip the second sphere because, well; dominions organise lower angels and keep things ticking over; virtues are the sign post makers of divine shit; and powers/authorities just watch a lot and keep things running along on a cosmic scale. so, administrators. literally. poor civil servants of heaven. they probably don’t even get a decent pay.

principalities:

principalities/rulers are guides and protectors of nations and institutions. so you’d have a principality guarding the catholic church, one covering the orthodox church, another who deals with maybe protecting italy and so on. aziraphale is the principality of the eastern gate of eden, that- that’s a pretty big thing. principalities wear crowns and carry sceptres, and carry out the orders given to them by upper sphere angels.

in canon, aziraphale is a principality, but i can’t recall him being called anything. i’m not sure if it’s fandom deciding here’s a cherub or not, ignoring the spheres or not, or whatever, but he doesn’t Really rank above gabriel. gaiman himself made a note of the difference between Archangels and archangels - the capital A makes the difference. so see seraphs as Archangels and third sphere archangels as the generic boys. 

in my mind, gabriel and michael -- as pretty much the only really named archangels in christian theology -- are the Archangels whilst sandalphon and uriel are archangels. so aziraphale can ignore two of the four but not michael or gabriel outright (we’re not discussing the disobedience by avoidance tactic he employs a lot). expanding the Archangel category to include maybe Raphael (angel of healing) and Azrael (angel of death) works too, but generally, aziraphale can’t disobey direct orders from them because they are his bosses. unless -- and this is the thing -- it comes to something involving His Specific Principality. but being the principality of eden is... well, eden doesn’t exist anymore. some major mental gymnastics would be required for aziraphale to decide Earth Is Eden Thus Earth Is My Principality SUCK IT GABRIEL and ignore heaven... actually... this might well explain a fair amount of his behaviour lmao. someone else can play with That tho. 

archangels:

funnily enough, archangels aren’t mentioned in the bible more than two or three times. in christianity, gabriel is called an archangel but there’s actually nothing in the bible to support that. michael is called an archangel in the new testament tho. the word means “chief angel” coming from greek archein for first in rank or power -- hence why it’s a bit odd for archangels to be ranked below others. archangel is only ever a singular term and used Only for michael btw. 

but in the book of tobit/tobias, we get an archangel raphael, an archangel uriel is also brought up in anglican and russian orthodox religions. raphael isn’t really considered a Canon angel outside of roman catholicism (my lot btw), eastern orthodox and anglicans, whilst uriel isn’t mentioned in the western christian bible at all. 

raphael gives us the idea of seven archangels btw - from the book of tobit where he says he’s “one of the seven who stand before the Lord”. 

in the books of enoch and revelations, we’re told that there are seven spirits of god that stand before the throne and some interpretations have the seven archangels as those seven spirits.

depending on the theological tradition, the names of the archangels vary. the ones i know of as roman catholic are gabriel, michael, and raphael (lucifer doesn’t count bc he’s fallen obvs), whereas eastern orthodox has seven and even an extra one depending: michael, gabriel, raphael, uriel, selaphiel/salathiel, jegudiel/jehudiel, barachiel, and jerahmeel/jeremiel.

the names vary depending on what faith you are but, generally, the three most common are gabriel, michael, and raphael - who are described as seraphim or cherubim and archangels as like their job title.

so all of this means that aziraphale is second to gabriel no matter what unless he does some awesome mental gymnastics and claims earth as eden and argues it’s his job to oversee it as fit (just imagine the vein in gabriel’s head popping from That Conversation).

aziraphale is definitely powerful, he’d have to be as a principality of eden - it’s kind of a Big Deal to be in charge of eden, even if you might share the job with three others - but he’s not quite as powerful as an archangel who is basically the second in command of heaven after god.

unless, as i’ve said, aziraphale draws on his position as a principality and uses That over gabriel who seems very set on his “i’m the fucking archangel gabriel” spiel lmao.

so yeah. this is just A Thing for me. idk if any one else feels this way about it all or not, but you can ignore me about all of this. i’m not an Authority on it and honestly, this is more to make sense of it all For Myself than to Tell Ya’ll How It Ought To Be.
