5, 42, 47 for piarles obvy bcs i wanna see you go insane 😘❤️
i haven't looked at what these numbers' relevant questions are, but i highly suspect that you are either the absolute worst or the absolute best. either way, ily so fucking much 😘😘 let's do this ;D
5. Describe their cozy night in.
HA I LOVE THAT! okay, and actually i have a really clear headcanon for this one :DD so, the thing is... they don't really have cozy nights in. oh, they try. on the rare occasions they both have time off on the same night, and they get to be in the same country too, then yes, they try. it seems so cute and romantic to have a movie night curled up on the couch together, no? except... that means they have to choose a movie. and to my mind, they would NEVER be able to agree on that, lmfao. charles, angel-faced charles, has been on record that he loves watching horror and psychological thrillers. pierre has been on record that he calls charles a psychopath for liking them. so just imagine these two idiots trying to have a movie night 🤣🤣 charles would be all "no, but this would be so interesting!" with wide eyes and a dimpled smile, and pierre would just be like "you're very cute and i love you but we're NOT watching the fucking jeffrey dahmer show on our one night together, thank you very much" and then charles is all huffy like "well i don't want to watch top gun for the five hundredth time, either" ...and then of course they have to fuck about it 😌👌
that's the core of my headcanon, actually. no matter what they try, they always end up fucking before so much as an hour has passed. like, even if they're just eating together, they probably won't even be able to finish dinner because one of them will jump the other "because you were teasing me by licking that spoon like that, charlo, you cannot blame me" or "how was i supposed to not get on my knees when you look that good cooking for me?!" and... yeah. you get the idea 😆 essentially, they just CANNOT keep their hands off each other, which means that any "cozy night in" very quickly devolves into pierre bending charles over the couch, or the counter, or any available surface, really (and very occasionally, it's charles fucking pierre, too.) they're just obsessed with each other, tbh. and who can blame them 😌
42. What's their favorite type of weather to enjoy together? (getting snowed in together, watching thunderstorms, etc.)
(ngl, my first thought when seeing this was "42 the answer to life the universe and everything 😍" so HA, tysm for that one, akira. ily <3333)
and as for the actual question: WELL, i'm going to give two answers for this one - the pierre version and the charles version. charles, i like to think, is the kind of person who gets cold super easily, but loves snow and wintry weather. (probably because he loves to steal pierre's jumpers and hoodies and beanies etc. etc.) wintry weather also gives him a hundred and one excuses to snuggle really close to pierre, bcs pierre always runs hot. (yes, pierre would totally make a hundred and one jokes about that, btw.) ALSO, i firmly believe that as much as charles loves stealing pierre's things, he'd also take great personal satisfaction in putting some of his own things on pierre - like a ferrari-branded scarf, or beanie, or whatever, under the guise of being a caring boyfriend and making sure pierre doesn't freeze. (pierre puts up with it because he knows charles is secretly a possessive bastard, too, and he loves it. freaks, the both of them, ngl. they're the best.)
now, pierre - i don't want to make him sound like too much of a rich fuckboy, but then again... that's what he is, isn't it xD so my headcanon is that pierre loves to take charles somewhere like ibiza or the greek islands, and spend long hours lazing on a yacht together, alternately swimming, sleeping in the sun and fucking on the deck of the boat (where someone probably won't be able to catch them, but you never know, and that's the thrill of it, of course.) and since the weather is so hot and humid, they have to spend all their time in swimming shorts and very loose (& usually unbuttoned) linen shirts, of course. (if there are even any shirts in the first place.)
so yeah 😆❄️🏖 i headcanon these two as total opposites regarding what types of weather they enjoy - but it's not as though either of them are complaining, hehe. best of both worlds, etc etc <3
47. Does either of them have a secret that could potentially ruin their relationship?
ooohhh, this is a good one 👀 and... call me a soppy romantic, and otp-obsessed, but i'm going to go for no. no, they don't.
hear me out, though! they've been friends for so long that i think they just... well, firstly, they already know almost everything about each other. but secondly, even if there was some devastating secret -- they'd be able to get through it. again, they have known each other for so long. when you've been friends forever, you can't imagine your life without that person. you would also forgive them for pretty much anything, and i think that's true for piarles. if one were so inclined, you could make that toxic, but to me it's just kind of beautiful. that security and safety net of "no matter how badly you fuck up, i'll still be there to catch you, because that's what we do for each other. we always have, and we always will." just. yeah. ❤️💙

Tell me more about your OC, please! Can you answer-
Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?
Do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over?
And who’s the bigger tease?
TW: Suggestive content, Teasing
11, 12 and 13 coming up for you, Anon!
Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?
Ash is canonically Autistic and struggles to articulate what he’s feeling in words sometimes, but so does Adrian, especially after living for three hundred years.
Ash is awfully perceptive about other’s emotions, except his own, and Adrian is afraid to let anyone in, even when it’s the people that care about him.
Adrian always seems to know when Ash needs a hug, and Ash is always asking Adrian to let him or knowing when Adrian needs a hug.
Do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over?
Adrian knows Ash will be overstimulated, so he won’t raise his voice around him if they argue, and He’ll be honest with him.
They do disagree with each other, and many debates can turn heated and very deep at times.
Ash doesn’t have to be right, and Adrian likes to learn different perspectives, but if they do end up disagreeing and upsetting each other, It’ll probably end up in a hug, maybe even sex. It usually means they’ll revisit it at some point.
And who’s the bigger tease?
Adrian loves to tease Ash, especially consensually, about his shyness when they are exploring things in bed and post-sex or being rowdy since both are in their twenties if you count the age they were Turned.
Adrian once teased Ash for not being able to say he had to urinate multiple times while at his Colonial estate in rural Canada, citing that his age as a Vampire should have made him older and more old-fashioned, though he understood Ash’s bottom dysphoria and the fact he hadn't experienced a boyhood like he did.
Ash loves to tease him, and they often flirt by telling dirty jokes and innuendos, often with Ash making him jealous by reminding him that many have tasted his blood or that he’d like to sleep with others just to see his reaction- Ash does it to mainly see him growl possessively.
He’s a terrible, raunchy tease, and Adrian teases like an older brother.

4, 5, 21 for OTP Ask!
4. Which one is more protective? Who needs to be ‘protected’?
Sanna, without a doubt, is the most protective between the two of them. Honestly, she is in both the MF!AU as well as the SWTOR-verse, she's just able to hide it a bit more in SWTOR or play it off as Jedi habits (though that starts to crack post-Fractured Alliances). Theron's more protective in their regularly scheduled universe than he is in the MF!AU, but Vassanna still wins the contest
5. Describe their cozy night in.
Curled up together in front of a fire, reading and drinking tea/some other tasty beverage, and completely ignoring any and all responsibilities for as long as possible!
21. Who would get into a fight to defend the other's honor? Who tends to the other's wounds?
Theron, Sanna (in that order :D)

2 + 26 for chigisagi and the otp ask game 🤔
hi rin :]!
2. Big spoon/Little spoon?
in my heart it's chigiri but i think spooning is terrible for them actually. the first time isagi was the big spoon but chigiri's hair kept tickling his face (you think he'd tie it up, but no.) and he couldn't take it. the second time, isagi was the little spoon and his little sprouts kept going directly into chigiri's nose because his hair operates on comedy anime logic. they tried both ways multiple times it just didn't work.
so they usually cuddle facing each other and isagi rests his head on chigiri's shoulder or chest. and chigiri pats his head. as promised.
26. What would be their theme song?
my first thought was "keep you safe" by the crane wives. it's not quite a perfect match, but it makes me think of their first selection dynamic and how isagi inspired chigiri to play to the fullest
#obligatory. yeah chigiri was pretty damn reasonable to be worried about RETEARING HIS ACL.#puts finger to temple. i can make any song about blue lock characters#thanks for the ask :3!#chigisagi#otp ask meme#answered#blue-thief

Charlos, 50 through 55
thanks maina for asking mwahhh
50. Who's more likely to do something out of spite?
Both, but I am leaning towards Charles. He can be a little bitch sometimes (affectionate)
51. What's a non verbal way they say I love you
FOREHEAD! KISSES! BELOVED! also any type of handholding. Squeezing your hand to say i love you and comfort you without words ❤️
52. Describe their weekend getaway
They'd fight where to go between Mallorca or wherever Charles wants to go. They end up spending time on yacht because they're basic like that, but somewhere more private without any prying eyes. They do the usual - eat, drink, fuck, swim, sleep and just relax because their lives are insaaane. Orrrr I can see them going to dolomites they both looooove so much (annoying /lh). They prefer to go alone to fully enjoy each other :))
53. Would they ever go skinny dipping?
Yes. Although they'd have to do it on some private island or sth otherwise we'd get paparazzi pics of their dicks
54. Who's more likely to carry the other to bed?
Carlos
55. Do they like watching clouds or star gazing?
Star gazing!!!! Carlos actually watches Charles more than the stars, because he's his best view ❤️

Spinder & Isabel OTP questions 2/6
"we're back", I said, in September. Well, now we're back back.
From this question list.
There are 60 questions, so I’m doing this in 10-question chunks. #spinder & isabel otp will give you all of the parts.
Nicea taglist: @kahvilahuhut @kk7-rbs @outpost51 @writernopal @athenswrites
Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell? Spinder is, unsurprisingly, good at hiding his emotions when he's upset. Isabel can tell sometimes, but it's often more of a context thing than being able to read it directly from him. For him, it's usually fairly obvious when she's trying to hide her emotions but it's also fairly obvious to everyone else too. If it's not anger (or horniness, though that one's most obvious to him personally) she's trying to tamp down on, though, it's generally harder for him to tell.
Do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over? Not many, but for any disagreement that's a little intense they have a process for smoothing things over. Before they can apologize, they have to step away and stew/cool down for a bit. Usually that’s a few minutes, or maybe a few hours if it was a particularly intense argument or something else takes priority, but there have been a handful of times when it took them days or weeks to actually be able to talk through the issue and move on (at least one of those was a pretty heated disagreement but I’m not sure what it was about). The apologizing itself is usually easy. The hard part is the untangling that comes after that, but the cooldown period makes it easier to laugh at themselves a little bit (which usually involves being comedically overdramatic and calling each other names). Once one of them can kind of make a step toward explaining or compromising then they can make their way toward a resolution.
Who’s the bigger tease? Isabel, but only because she's more obvious about it. Spinder is, however, a master of pressing her buttons.
How do their personalities compliment each other? How do they clash? While they are good at compromising, they're also both stubborn, and have a tendency to get pissy at each other. But they each often have patience for things that the other doesn't, and they both try to help each other improve. And Spinder always lets Isabel eat off his plate, so it works out.
Do they always say 'i love you' before leaving? Not always. But they do always say goodbye and that kind of serves the same purpose.
Can they stay up all night just talking? Isabel can. At some point Spinder will inevitably doze off.
Who's more likely to pull the other in by the waist and kiss them passionately? I feel like this specific move is more of a Spinder thing. He's too short to just kiss her, though (she's 5' 9", he's 5' 2"), so she either has to catch on and play along, or he has to have a hand on her face to draw it down to his level.
How likely are they to have fur babies? How many and what kind? If they didn't spend half their time in space Isabel might get on a "let's get a dog" kick. She loves dogs (that's hands down her favorite part about visiting her mom: her mom's dog) but Spinder thinks dogs are too much work. However his ideal pet (which he will probably never have) is a horse, so he has less of a point than he feels he does.
How do they feel about PDA? They're chaste about it, but they also don't entirely consider being halfway in each other's space at all times PDA. That's just how they've been as friends for ~20 years.
Choose one song that perfectly describes their relationship. Back in high school/early college when I was writing Old Canon Spinder and Isabel, I imagined the coolest AMV for them to Lovesong by The Cure. It fit them a bit better back then but I'll stand by it (the AMV can only get cooler if it's set in space).
#I basically wrote these and then forgot about them#I have several more couples I have this half-drafted for lol#Isabel: you like horses because you are a horse. you can sleep standing up#Spinder: skill issue#c: Isabel#c: Spinder#wip: nicea#obligatory otp ask game#spinder & isabel otp

#41 & 50 for silverv pls 💕🥺🙏
Ask for OTPs
41. Which one would take their jacket it off and drape over the other one because they were visibly shivering?
ok there is 3 answers for this since basically there are 3 different versions of my personal flavour of silverv so here we go.
johnny is still an engram. now, obviously they can't do that but johnny will point out that she should bring a jacket, if he thinks they will need it. whether v listens or not is truly random. the further we get in the story, the stronger johnny's influence gets and he can just make her bring a jacket without her even realising, he doesn't use that ability a whole lot and especially not for something as mundane as a clothing choice. also he gets to say "i told you so" and he likes doing that.
johnny has a body, au: say yes to heaven. this is kind of a boring answer but both of them do that. they learned to take care of each other and accept that the other is bad at taking care of themselves. naturally, their reaction to such a situation is "i ain't cold. what are you talking about?" (read: "if you take off your jacket, you are gonna be cold you fuckin moron.")
2000s au, aka au: watch the world burn. instead of thinking "don't be silly, your comfort is more important than mine" both of them just get offended at the offer. v is especially turned off by behaviour like that so even if johnny were the type of guy to do that (or rather they had a relationship like that) he learns to not do that quite quickly.
50. who’s more likely to do something out of spite?
you know i pat myself on the back a lot for making v and johnny very much alike but i'm starting to realise that's lowkey an issue LMAO.
they both do that, obviously. but since v is the one with a body, she's naturally more likely to do it. v fucks river to make johnny jealous (uncool) after he told her he isn't his type (also uncool), she keeps accepting badlands gigs when he pisses her off (she hates it there too), listens to music he can't stand (it grows on him) and the list goes on.
it never truly stops because both of them just are like that but it grows into teasing instead, especially once johnny gets a body
#sammy says shit#asks#otp; just the two of us#au: say yes to heaven#au: watch the world burn#obligatory apology if this is unreadable bc i havent slept yet

Helena, my love, for MBB and Abby 23, 30, 44, and 60!
My darling Taylor, I’m always happy to talk about MBB and Abby, so let’s get right into it, and let's pretend this hasn't been sitting in my drafts for a couple of weeks.
23. Who's more likely to convince the other to stay in bed come morning?
Bob makes a great case for himself to Abby to stay in bed in the morning, especially when she starts staying the night. His kisses are very convincing, as is his warmth.
30: Your OTP gets to pick out each other's outfits; what is each wearing?
Abby would put Bob in something like this, but make sure his curls were more on display a la Lewis’ hair at the Golden Globes.
Bob would have her wear lingerie in his specific shade of blue and a pair of black heels. Drives him absolutely wild, and it’s just for him, after all.
44. Who would dance in the kitchen making dinner? Would the other join in or watch from the doorway?
Spoiler alert: When Abby eventually stays the night, Bob finds her in the kitchen making breakfast the next morning. She's singing and dancing, and he just watches her, completely shocked that she stayed and mesmerized by the domesticity of it. He'd just watch her in panties and his shirt, and love every second.
60. Who pulls the other closer when they’re sleeping?
This one goes to Bob. After that first night in the penthouse, they fall asleep together, and he pulls her into him and holds her tight. I think he expects to wake up the next morning with Abby still in his arms, and he has to swallow the bitter disappointment that she's not.

17, 33, 35, 44, 50 for OTP Asks (coldflash) please
17.) Who's more likely to pull the other in by the waist and kiss them passionately?
Hmmm, this is a tough one. I think it's something they both do, but who does it most?
Barry definitely has a kink for being manhandled and taken care of. He's constantly having to be the hero and on top of things and so having Len take charge, pull him close and demand kisses... it's nice to just give in. He trusts Len whether it's with something small and romantic like this or, uh... other things. ;) So Len enjoys taking advantage of this in order to draw Barry close and kiss him whenever he wants.
Conversely, Len likes that despite being a twig in human form (until his thirties anyway), Barry can still push him around if he wants. Len definitely enjoyed being shoved around by Barry in S2, though he was definitely wishing for a kiss there. So I think his preference is less being pulled in by Barry and more by being shoved against a hard surface and crowded in by Barry, but he does enjoy getting pulled forward, into Barry's arms, and kissed senseless too.
I think, ultimately, Len is more likely to pull Barry into a kiss, but it's definitely something that goes both ways.
33.) Who's the better cook?
Barry. Len's not a lethal chef or anything like that and he enjoys cooking with Barry because it's something he's doing with Barry. But for it's own sake, Len's more of an 'eat what's convenient' type. Whereas Barry is very much a 'shows love through food' type.
Mick supports the relationship in part because he's no longer the only one making sure Len doesn't wind up with scurvy for avoiding his veggies.
35.) Who's more artistic?
Probably Barry. He can sketch really well and I can see him doing the ADHD cycle through various artsy hobbies. (I do this. Best to keep the projects in what are doable chunks for me or something I can put down and pick up again a few months or a year down the line.)
I think Lewis really stunted Len's artistic talents. He strikes me as the kind of father who sees his son taking art classes or home ec and gets super homophobic about it. Len expresses his creative side through his heist plans. He's maybe starting to allow his creativity roll into creating things - starting from learning how to repair and then recreate the Cold Gun to adapting what he learned to create ice grenades and the like. But overall, Barry's much more of the artsy sort.
44.) Who would dance in the kitchen making dinner? Would the other join in or watch from the doorway?
Barry is absolutely the dancer. We see that in canon with him dancing around in the kitchen in his boxers making breakfast. He will dance around and sing to music on the radio/streaming on his phone when he cooks alone - especially if he's cooking something special for Len. Romantic dinner? Barry is extra bouncy while he cooks and sets up a candle lit dinner.
Len won't admit it, but he finds it really charming how Barry romances him and he does try to romance Barry in return. But when Barry's dancing around in the kitchen, he definitely loves to stand back and watch. Just kind of take in that this ridiculous man loves him so much.
50.) who's more likely to do something out of spite?
I'd say initially it's Len. He's used to pushing people away and he expects eventually he'll push Barry away too and gets snippy and spiteful about things. But Barry's stubborn and as Len realizes that it'd take a hell of a lot to run Barry off, he starts to relax and accept that what they have is actually going to last and his tendency to say spiteful things while angry tapers off.
Barry isn't at first because he's had to learn to be very careful with his relationships and choose his battles with Joe. He'd argue to hell and back about his dad's innocence, but he was very afraid of Joe not wanting him anymore so he got in the habit of swallowing down his feelings about things until they boil over. He's a lot more likely to do this when something's triggered his trauma reactions. The first time Len realizes that Barry flipped out over something relatively minor with him and talking it out later reveals it was really because Barry was already on edge over something Team Flash did that triggered him that his team dismissed as inconsequential? Len absolutely reads them the riot act about the way they treat Barry's mental health so dismissively.
I think once Barry's trauma responses start being taken seriously and his boundaries are better respected, the spiteful responses become less likely to show up too. That said, I think maybe he still struggles with it more than Len.

Can you answer the last nine questions about your OC's?
I know you don't get many asks, but I'd love to know!
TW: Angst, Suggestive content, Death, Sexual assault
Spoilers for the Bloodbound Series by Pixelberry Choices and my writing.
For the following last answers in the Obligatory OTP Asks-
I don't get many asks, no. But I'm happy you asked about my OC, Nonny.
Describe their weekend getaway?
Ash would have loved to travel more than just going to San Trobida for a year.
He often told Adrian he’d like to go to New Orleans for a holiday because travelling for work didn’t count in the same way, even if Adrian and the group took moments for themselves or together to try and make it so for him when they travelled to Paris, Prague and Athens, to get to the isle of Medieya.
Would they ever go skinny dipping?
Adrian respects rules and will follow them, but has never been conventional. He’s more likely to.
Ash perhaps would have joined him if it were just the two of them entirely alone.
Ash joined Kamilah as she went swimming naked, but he wore boxers.
He was comfortable because she was content to do it, and he was only in the pool to relieve his leg pain.
Who’s more likely to carry the other to bed?
Ash is more likely to carry their baby boy to bed, and Adrian adores holding the people he loves, so he’s more likely to carry Ash to bed.
Do they like watching clouds or star gazing?
Ash is a night owl and adores watching the moon and the stars. Adrian misses the Sunrise and watching the clouds.
What do they do to turn the other on/put them in the mood?
Ash might have simply asked Adrian outright, just as he did when he asked him to violate some health codes with him at the Restaurant once, or remarked that he was hungry while he was pregnant with their son.
Adrian would have simply asked to kiss him, and if it went further, and was what Ash wanted, it would happen.
Who’s the serious one when grocery shopping, and who likes to toss random things in the trolley?
Ash would usually write shopping lists in order of the usual store layouts, but if he was hungry, he might indulge and buy something he was craving while shopping.
Adrian would buy things for the fun of trying them, especially since he doesn’t actually need to budget.
Who’s more likely to hold a grudge after an argument?
Adrian and Ash hold grudges on other Vampires (Especially Dracula after what he did), and other people, but they could never hold a grudge with each other for long without talking it out.
Who tops? Who bottoms?
Adrian will naturally top out of habit and is more of a Service Top. Ash doesn’t mind bottoming, but will be a little Dominating if he tops. He’s not sure if He’s a Switch or not.
Who pulls the other closer when they’re sleeping?
Adrian was always the first to invite Ash into his arms, whether he was suggesting sleeping together or just offering comfort.

11,12, and 13 from the oc asks for the MF!AU :D
11. Do either try to hide their emotions if upset? Can the other still tell?
I'd say yes, they both do, to an extent. At the beginning of their travels, it's because they don't know each other well enough to want to confide in them, or there's the invisible line of "propriety" - he's a noble, she's his guard and it's not appropriate. Eventually, they can read each other better, though I'd say Theron's a bit more adept at reading Sanna (or she's less sneaky about her feelings than she thinks she is!)
12. Do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over?
Not particularly, so far. Mostly it's Vassanna being overprotective and Theron bristling at the idea that he can't take care of himself - he's a grown-ass adult and has had sufficient combat training in addition to all his other studies, thank you very much! The only big arguments they've had so far came from him wanting to step away from the rebellion (too many people were dying for him! it's not right!) and when he stuck his foot in his mouth after she confessed her feelings. Since that last one ended on a cliffhanger, I'll let you know that they eventually get to talk about it, but by then, there's a whole other mess of problems they need to deal with (including a betrothal and an escaped minion of the Shadow King)
13. Who’s the bigger tease?
Bigger tease than usual? Sanna. Bigger tease in general? Theron

IOTA Reviews: Transmission and Deflagration (The Kwamis' Choice)
Well, it only took until almost halfway through the fifth season, but we're finally getting a two-part episode that isn't a season finale. There have been a few episodes I think could have benefited from having an extra part, like “Cat Blanc”. So obviously, after all this time, there has to be a reason for putting a two-parter here. The story told here has to be big. It has to be huge. It has to be something that will alter the very way we see the plot and these characters, and—it's more Love Square stuff. God dammit...
Let's get into the tenth and eleventh episodes of Miraculous Ladybug's fifth season: Transmission and Deflagration
“Transmission” starts with Marinette having another depressive episode, which seems to be worse than usual, with her offering her Miraculous to Tikki so she can choose someone else. While Tikki tries to remind her of all the good she's done as Ladybug as footage from earlier episodes plays, Marinette points out how she's a terrible Ladybug, once again referencing how she lost the Miraculous because of her feelings for Adrien.
Tikki: You’re overreacting, Marinette!
Marinette: Really? Then, how come I lost the Miraculous I was entrusted with all because of love? Love only ever causes problems. I’ll never fall in love again! Love is weak! And I can’t be sad about it; otherwise, I might get akumatized!
Okay, this is just getting ridiculous. We're ten episodes into the season, and whenever Marinette brings up her failure at the end of the last season, it's the same song and dance: She feels guilty about it, she needs someone to try and make her feel better, and she doesn't change anything about the way she and Cat Noir operate. If it isn't that, it's a complete strawman or character who we know already hates Ladybug like Chloe or Lila calling out Marinette for her failure specifically so any negative feedback she gets can be easily brushed aside. The whole point of a hero having to comprehend a major failure is to see how they deal with the consequences to their actions and find a way to improve to make sure nothing like that ever happens again. If Marinette came up with new ways to strategize with Cat Noir, or seriously reevaluate the way she sees Adrien that isn't just brushed aside, I'd get it. Instead, all she does is whine about how much her life sucks over and over, which is the same problem I've had with Adrien for the past few seasons.
And once again, for a show with the lyrics “The power of love always so strong” in its opening, it seems like the writers want to make a bigger point in favor of showing how love can only ruin things. Yes, getting emotional can cause someone to make more impulsive decisions, but at the same time, feelings of love and kindness can get good results, like Ellen Ripley's maternal instincts motivating her to save Newt in Aliens. The problem is that we never get a lot of arguments as to how love can benefit the heroes, not only when we see how much it screws up Ladybug and Cat Noir's partnership, but once again, how Marinette's romantic feelings for someone led to her greatest failure. The closest we get to an argument in favor of love is whenever Marinette and Adrien's friends try to make their OTP come together without considering if it would actually make things better or not.
Speaking of which, after the episode's obligatory pointless Chloe line that's only there so Selah Victor can pay her rent that week, Ms. Bustier asks Alya to deliver Marinette's homework to her, only for Nino to convince her to have Adrien do it instead. Somehow, she thinks this minor favor will help Marinette and Adrien realize their true feelings for each other. Because it's not like Alya learned that she shouldn't choose who she thinks Marinette would be best with last episode, right?
Marinette and Adrien talk and it seems like they're starting to grow a little closer, but Tikki and Plagg panic, trying to intervene so they don't know each other's identities. The attempt fails, but Marinette kicks Adrien out anyway. It's a pretty somber scene, so let's cut to something stupid instead, like Marinette and Adrien's classmates throwing a party under the assumption that Adrien simply delivering something to Marinette means they'll get together now.
All of you are really gunning for the Biggest Idiot Award today, aren't you?
Of course, even though she went along with one of these weird “force Marinette to do something she doesn't want to” schemes before in “Crocoduel”, Zoe seems to be the only one with a smidgen of common sense.
Zoe: Alya, did you hear Marinette’s voicemail message?
Alya: Yeah, but that was before, Zoe.
Zoe: “Before”? Before what?
Alya: Before when Marinette was a complete wreck.
Nino: But Alya sends her the perfect mechanic.
Alya: Adrien!
Nino: He’s fixing her up as we speak.
Rose: Wow! When they come back to school, they’ll finally be an item!
Marc: A perfect plan!
Zoe: But... you guys don’t actually know for sure.
Alya: Trust me. This is it this time!
I'm starting to think that maybe Marinette should reconsider who she chooses to be temp heroes once she gets the Miraculous back.
Adrien starts crying as he leaves Marinette's place, which attracts the attention of Monarch... who then immediately backs out as soon as he senses him, transforming back into Gabriel. Meanwhile, Tikki and Plagg discuss Marinette and Adrien's situation.
Plagg: Sugarcube! Having to force them to choose between love and their mission is just awful! Maybe Master Fu was wrong to choose them.
Tikki: No, they’re made for each other. Love is what gives them their strength.
Plagg: But the impossible part of that love is destroying them, and I know a thing or two about destruction.
Tikki: (sighs heavily) What can we do?
Plagg: We must free them of that impossible choice. We must... free them of us.
youtube
Yep. This is the titular Kwamis' choice. They seriously think that Marinette and Adrien's romantic problems are more important than them being superheroes, so their best option is to just take away their Miraculous even though Monarch still has fifteen more of them. I'd be more forgiving if this was towards the beginning of Marinette and Adrien's superhero careers, but this is Season 5, where the stakes have never been higher thanks to Monarch's arsenal. Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that MARINETTE IS STILL THE FUCKING GUARDIAN, AND TAKING AWAY HER MIRACULOUS DOESN'T CHANGE A THING! IT'S NEVER EVEN MENTIONED IN EITHER EPISODE, SO HOW THE HELL DO YOU FORGET SOMETING THAT IMPORTANT?!?!
It doesn't even make sense that only now are Tikki and Plagg against Marinette and Adrien actually getting together when they were never shown to have any problems with it in earlier seasons, and just last episode, Plagg encouraged Adrien to go after Marinette after doing so as Cat Noir didn't work out. It comes across as the writers struggling to come up with new ways to have opposition to the Love Square, even if this idea somehow leads to a minuscule amount of progress in that department. Yeah, you figure that out...
Also, it's pretty weird how after four and a half seasons of Marinette suffering from the burden of being Ladybug, only now does Tikki decide to relieve her of that responsibility, but only because of how it affects her love life.
We get another scene showing how stupid Marinette and Adrien's friends are as they talk about how happy Marinette and Adrien must be now, interspersed with scenes of Marinette and Adrien crying their eyes out. Just like that one scene in “Evolution”, I don't get the setup. Is this meant to be a joke, or a serious moment? After Nathalie takes a call for Adrien telling Nino that he can't be bothered at the moment, Gabriel comes into the room to comfort him, giving him an Alliance ring in the process.
Tikki and Plagg talk to their respective holders and tell them how they feel that the burden of being heroes is crushing them. Marinette and Adrien obviously bring up the situation with Monarch, but as soon as their Kwamis mention that not being superheroes means that they can pursue their love lives with no stress, they immediately take off their Miraculous and give them back. After five seasons that this episode confirmed happened just under a year, and this is what causes them to give up their Miraculous: a bad case of heartache. We're supposed to see this as the breaking point that causes the two to not want to be superheroes ever again? They don't consider the innocent lives that could be in danger, or the fact that this heavy burden will most likely be forced on two new and inexperienced schmucks who will struggle even more than they did thanks to Monarch possessing powers of the other fifteen Miraculous.
I'm sorry, but I don't see this as an emotional scene. All I see is what I saw with Adrien in “Kuro Neko”: these characters simply giving up because of how much they're prioritizing their personal feelings over the lives of others. If this was something Marinette and Adrien came up with and made an agreement to quit at the same time (even choosing their own replacements), I'd sort of get it, as they'd at least be on the same terms, but neither of them ever learn the other quit until later on in the episode.
After Adrien breaks down even more, we learn that the whole reason Gabriel hesitated to akumatize Adrien the last time was because he didn't have an Alliance ring on, so now that he does, he's taking a mulligan. However, the Akuma is stopped at the last minute when Adrien sees the homework he was supposed to give Marinette, so he runs off as his negative emotions fade. Instead, Monarch chooses to akumatize someone else with five different Alliance rings.
Monarch: Rejoice, dear Kwamis! Five Alliances enables as many Miraculous powers to transfer at the same time! This villain promises to be exceptional! (laughs manically)
Pretty sure you hyped up Style Queen the same way three seasons ago, yet you still didn't get the Miraculous then, so I wouldn't gloat too soon.
The next scene with Marinette and Adrien is actually a really nice one. Marinette starts stuttering as usual when she tries to talk, but Adrien comes up with another idea: He'll ask a series of yes or no questions, and Marinette can raise her right or left hand to answer them. Adrien asks Marinette about her feelings for him, and Marinette accidentally answers no before changing her mind. Before Adrien leaves, he asks Marinette if she wants to spend more time with him in the future, to which she accepts. This scene was handled really well, and nothing really felt forced here.
Back with Alya, she and the others are once again coming up with a plan to get Marinette and Adrien together (because none of them have lives outside of the Love Square, I guess), when Nora suddenly calls.
Nora: Geez, sis! You never pick up the phone when I like, actually need your advice!
Alya: I couldn’t pick up. I’m at school!
Nora: Yeah, right. So, you see, I had no choice but to deal with it myself.
Alya: Oh, no... Nora. I told you before, you gotta talk before you act!
Nora: Yeah, but I did talk, like, I said stuff in front of Kouki's bros.
Alya: Nora! Not “talk” like that!
youtube
Yeah, outside of a few references to Nora trying to call Alya earlier in the episode, I didn't skip anything here. We're just thrown into this plot with little to no explanation as to what's going. What Nora and this Kouki guy were arguing about, much less what Nora said to his friends is never explained. I don't even known if they're supposed to be in a relationship or not. It's not like in “Sandboy” or “Oblivio” where the motivation for how the person got akumatized was only explained near the end of the episode. The episode acts like we're supposed to know who Kouki is and why he and Nora are fighting when this is the first time Kouki has ever appeared on this show.
As the conversation goes on, Tikki chooses Alya to be the new wielder of the Ladybug Miraculous and Plagg chooses Zoe to be the new wielder of the Cat Miraculous. Okay, outside of Zoe being the only one in this episode who isn't a complete idiot, I can see why Plagg would choose her, since she has experience as a superhero, and her identity wasn't exposed. As for Tikki choosing Alya? Yeah, Alya did a good job as Scarabella in “Hack-San”, but she doesn't mention that A) She and Cat Noir still needed Marinette's help to stop Robustus, and B) Alya's already had her identity exposed twice, to the point where she was the one to suggest she not be trusted with one before Marinette lost the other fifteen Miraculous at the end of the last season. Alya's not a bad hero, but these factors don't exactly make her an ideal successor to Ladybug. Also, it's pretty dumb how the whole reason Marinette and Adrien quit was for romantic reasons, yet the whole reason Alya blew her cover last season was for romantic reasons (Rocketear).
Back with Adrien and Marinette, the former plans to leave, but is interrupted by the akumatized form of Kouki, named Kikou.
Kikou's design is... I mean, it's not terrible, I guess? Putting aside the fact that this is the second Akuma in the series to go with the “black boxer” stereotype (who is also a dumb brute like Anansi was), the gold jewelry is a decent touch, and it makes sense that he has the five Alliance rings to show off his wealth. As for his powers, because he has five rings, he has five different powers, the Tiger Miraculous' Clout to power his Gum-Gum Pistol-esque punches, the Turtle Miraculous' Shelter to protect his head where the Akuma is obviously hiding, the Horse Miraculous' Voyage to move around quickly and make up for his size hindering his speed, the Ox Miraculous' Resistance to protect the aforementioned Shelter, and the Mouse Miraculous' Multitude to clone himself with. This is the Akuma that really made me realize that the gimmick of every Akuma this season having the powers of whatever Miraculous Monarch gives them is just an excuse to half-ass writing any new Akuma powers in favor of the same fifteen abilities the other Miraculous have.
Kikou attacks the city, but Alya transforms into Scarabella, soon being joined by Zoe, AKA, Kitty Noire.
Kitty Noire's design is... pretty weird, all things considered. The green lipsick just doesn't look that good, I don't get the green hair extensions, and why are they eyes like that when even Lady Noire's eyes stayed green? At the very least, the hair looks marginally better than Catwalker's, and I like the detailing on the suit itself.
While Scarabella and Kitty Noire quickly get to know each other, Marinette and Adrien get used to being civilians again pretty quickly as they watch them fight off Kikou, the two new heroes struggling to keep up with Kikou's five Miraculous powers. Of course, Marinette and Adrien only look mildly concerned, not even regretting their choices in the slightest.
Our heroes, ladies and gentlemen.
Scarabella uses her Lucky Charm, getting a parachute, which is totally different from the kind used in the final episode of the first episode. Scarabella and Kitty Noire taunt Kikou, Scarabella drawing Kikou's fire while Kitty Noire recruits a bunch of firefighters, who then get some paint from the art store Socqueline runs. The firefighters then load the paint into their truck's hose, which is then used to fill up the parachute. Kitty Noire cuts the rope, and the paint blinds Kikou, and as soon as he deactivates his shield, Scarabella breaks his headgear, freeing the Akuma.
Scarabella de-evilizes the Akuma, sort of helps Kouki and Nora make up, uses Miraculous Scarabella to fix all the damage, while Marinette and Adrien compliment the new heroes from afar before promising to meet up at school tomorrow.
The first episode ends with Gabriel's Alliance recording the unusual data in two Alliances, meaning that Scarabella and Kitty Noire's identities have already been exposed... even though Tikki should have known this since “Jubiliation”. Yeah, you all know where this is going.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... TIKKI
While the competition was tough, Tikki was able to get the win for going along with this asinine plan in the first place that prioritized the personal feelings of two people over the fact that Monarch was at his most dangerous. Not only that, she forgot Marinette was still the Guardian, she forgot that Alya's identity was already exposed twice, and that even if she didn't know the Alliance rings were a front for Monarch's plan, forgot that these hi-tech rings track the everyday movements of its users, not even telling Plagg this before he chose Zoe.
The second part, “Deflagration”, immediately starts off with Kitty Noire saying that Ladybug and Cat Noir have nothing to feel guilty about even though they essentially abandoned Paris when Ladybug was shown to be getting backlash for her failure, but of course, that isn't mentioned here.
Kitty Noire: We’ll accomplish our mission just like they did, because the goal we all share is to defeat Monarch, isn't it?
News Reporter: Or perhaps Ladybug and Cat Noir renounced their mission so they could finally live their love story?
Scarabella: They were never in love or in a relationship, and neither are we.
Kitty Noire: (in a flirtatious tone) So far anyway!
I'd make a “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” joke here, but we all know Alya is already in a relationship.
Alya and Marinette meet up, the former congratulating her successor on another great job. The two talk about Adrien, and Alya once again encourages Marinette to focus more on pursuing a relationship with him, no doubt planning another stupid party in her mind.
We then get a scene that actually reminds the audience that Chloe and Zoe are supposed to be sisters. I understand if you might have forgotten, but don't worry. I'm pretty sure the writers did too. Of course, I think the writers might be running out of new ways to make Chloe mean to someone, because this time, she just yells at Zoe for being near her and not being in the “half-of-a-sister zone”. In order to appease her sister and make sure she doesn't call their mom, Zoe offers to wash all of Chloe's shoes. Plagg talks to Zoe about possibly standing up to her sister.
Plagg: How about I Catacylsm that sister of yours instead?
Zoe: It’s pointless, Plagg.
Plagg: Zoe, you can't let them treat you that way; no one speaks to me like that! Just ask the T-rexes... That is, if you can find one! Because they're not so smug anymore now, are they?
Zoe: It’s best to stay out of trouble in this family if I'm going to protect my secret identity.
Plagg: You start by giving up cheese, and then you end up giving up on dignity, freedom, and justice!
Zoe: I feel like you like to blow things out of proportion, don't you?
Plagg: Yes... especially when I’m starving.
Talking about standing up to your mean sister, contemplating murder while casually discussing genocide. Same thing, right?
We cut to Gabriel, who's over the moon about the recent revelation regarding Scarabella and Kitty Noire, even dancing a little. He tells Nathalie and heads to his lair to plan his next scheme, but not before chatting with Emilie's body once again. Gabriel transforms into Monarch and gives himself the powers of the Bee, Mouse, Rooster, Ox, and Horse Miraculous, traveling to the school himself.
Meanwhile, we cut to the Resistance, where we see Max has set up a system where, through the use of the Alliance rings and their phones, the members can alert the school to whenever there's an active Akuma... even though one of the features included in the Alliance includes an Akuma alert (Multiplication), and there's also been an Akuma alarm since Season 2 (Riposte). So once again, this brave and totally important Resistance has contributed absolutely nothing. Okay, there are some other parts, like some of the members planning to fight off the Akuma with paintball guns if there's no other option. You know, this is proof that this show takes place in France, because if this was America, they would most likely have actual guns.
At lunch, Marinette and Adrien get closer, to which Lila uses as an opportunity to manipulate Chloe into trying to break up the moment, but not before we get a joke where Chloe needs Alliance to define the word “generous”. Okay, I'm not sure if the joke was that Chloe is so selfish, she doesn't know the meaning of the word, or if the writers are now resorting to using “dumb blonde” jokes for Chloe now, which totally isn't a cliche that was overused twenty years ago to the point where there was an entire movie starring Reese Witherspoon made to subvert it. Either way, NOT FUNNY, DIDN'T LAUGH.
Chloe tries to ruin the moment by telling Adrien Marinette is in love with him, but he's not having any of that. She tries telling jokes that are supposed to be unfunny, they're funny, but it lacks the charm of something like Hank Hill attempting to tell “yo mama” jokes. Zoe stands up to Chloe, which pisses her off so much, she willingly accepts an Akuma from Monarch (currently invisible thanks to the Rooster Miraculous), turning into Sole Destroyer.
Sole Destroyer is... wow... Just... WOW... they didn't even try with this one. At least Miracle Queen made sense as an upgrade to Queen Wasp, but this? They literally just took Sole Crusher, whose design resembling Chloe made sense thematically in that episode, gave her a new pair of sunglasses, some more gemstones and spikes, and made her eyes glow as if she was a character in an episode of The Nostalgia Critic. Why go to this effort to make a new Akuma when so little is done with the new design? Wouldn't it make sense to bring back Antibug, given Chloe has been against Ladybug since the end of Season 3? As for Sole Destroyer's powers, it's just Sole Crusher's magic kicks, only instead of growing bigger in size after absorbing each victim and making her more of a threat, they transform into singing shoes. You know, guys, it just dawned on me how... how weird this show is. Kinda goofy...
Alya and Zoe attempt to transform, but Monarch, using a combination of the Mouse, Bee, and Rooster Miraculous' powers, stuns the two and steals the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous from them. Plagg attempts to Cataclysm Monarch, but Monarch uses Resistance to block it, immediately going to unify. Before the process can be completed, both Tikki and Plagg use Lucky Charm and Cataclysm respectively, Tikki summoning a trash can with the side effect of creating a new Eiffel Tower, and Plagg destroying the Cat Miraculous. Doing so ends up creating an endless cycle of things being created and destroyed, and unlike in “Dearest Family”, they don't reuse footage from “Style Queen”.
Marinette gets the trash can, and realizes what's happening, and while Adrien and Nino plan to have the Resistance try and stop Sole Destroyer, Marinette works on making her own Ladybug costume. Monarch orders Tikki to tell him what the hell's going on, Tikki explains that since Plagg destroyed the Cat Miraculous, he lost his only method of communicating with the physical plane, and all Monarch needs to do to get what he needs is to take back the Lucky Charm Tikki created. Just then, Marinette arrives, dressed up as Ladybug, and seemingly having the Lucky Charm in her hands, only for Monarch to steal it, unifying into Monarbug.
Given how stupid he looked as Shadow Noir last season, it's not exactly surprising to learn that Gabriel looks just as stupid unified with the Ladybug. The red and black polka dots just don't go with the black and purple. The one thing I'll give them credit for is that the eyes look kind of cool.
The Lucky Charm turns out to be a fake, and Nino jumps in to save Marinette from being hit with Venom. The rest of the Resistance also arrives, somehow having beaten up Sole Destroyer off-screen and turning her into a battering ram. Monarbug undoes the Akumatization, but Rose, Ivan, and Kim dogpile Monarbug, leaving Adrien to steal back the Ladybug Miraculous for Marinette.
Marinette transforms back into Ladybug, and uses Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damage and fix the Cat Miraculous. While Ladybug fights Monarch, she learns that he reforged the Miraculous before Monarch uses Multitude and Voyage to make his escape, swearing that he'll beat Ladybug someday, “We'll meet again, Spider-Man”, yadda yadda yadda.
Tikki and Marinette talk about finding new holders, only for Marinette to choose to take back the Miraculous, figuring that since Monarch doesn't know their identities (once again forgetting what the Alliance rings can do), that's the best option. Plagg takes back the Cat Miraculous and goes to say goodbye to Zoe, reassuring her that she was still brave enough to stand up to Chloe, because I guess to hell with the people who somehow managed to restrain Chloe while she was Sole Destroyer. And so this episode, and by extension, this two-parter, ends with Ladybug and Cat Noir talking about how their Kwamis saved the day... even though they were the reason Monarch almost won in the first place.
THE BIGGEST IDIOT OF THE EPISODE IS... CHLOE
In addition to somehow not knowing the definition of the word “generous”, she failed to come up with a good comeback against Marinette, chose to get akumatized to get revenge, failed at that, betrayed Sabrina and Lila, her only allies, for no good reason, and somehow got defeated off-screen by a bunch of civilians with no superpowers, not even getting to fight either of the new heroes, including her sister.
But yeah, in case you can't tell, these episodes were pretty bad. The entire premise of Tikki and Plagg deciding that Marinette and Adrien's love lives were more important than stopping Monarch was a hard pill to swallow, especially since their replacements didn't get to do anything outside of a single Akuma fight. You'd think that with the buildup Zoe got standing up to Chloe, she'd at least play a role in stopping Sole Destroyer, but instead, she and Alya are benched for almost the entirety of “Deflagration”. It's also really dumb that the ending tried to make them out to be the MVP's of the fight, when their idea was what caused Monarch to almost get the Miraculous.
Even Marinette and Adrien didn't really make a lot of progress here. All they did was talk a little, but even after “Deflagration”, not much else happened. Yeah, Adrien stood up for Marinette, but they still haven't officially started dating yet, even when they had every reason to after giving up their Miraculous. It's still better than nothing, but after four and a half seasons, I think we're allowed to want a little more development with the Love Square Wouldn't it have been interesting to see Marinette and Adrien try to start a relationship during their brief retirement, only to struggle to maintain it after becoming superheroes again? We're almost halfway through the season, and the Love Square is still progressing at a snail's pace. Then again, I guess it's better than nothing at this point.
“Transmission” was pretty boring, all things considered. Other than the first act, nothing really happened. The Akuma fight was like the others, just with two new heroes, and Marinette and Adrien got to bond for a few minutes. Nora and Kouki's drama wasn't interesting, and it wasn't even properly explained like the motivations of other Akumas.
I will say that “Deflagration” was the better of the two, if only because Marinette, Adrien, and Gabriel made some smart choices here. Unlike in “Evolution” and “Destruction”, there's no gloating or wasting time. Monarch cuts straight to the chase, and Marinette comes up with a quick plan to trick him with. Also, while I still don't really care about the Resistance, I like the idea of the civilians standing up to Monarch, and think it was executed better than it was in “Heroes' Day”. Even Sole Destroyer got a few reactions out of me for how exaggerated her facial expressions were. I don't know why they decided to give her One Piece levels of weird faces, but kudos to the animators on that front. Of course, Sole Destroyer was still one of the most pointless Akumas in the show's history, as you could take her out of the episode and nothing would have changed.
Overall, while I appreciate the effort to try and tell bigger stories, this was a really weird choice of an episode to make a two-parter.

III/Micheal Arclight for the Yugioh ask game please!
...Well, that was the obvious one, huh?
Why I like them/why I don’t: Michael cares so, so much about his family and Yuma! He's so intensely loyal and genuinely kind to those he cares about, but at the same time is perfectly capable of sharp tongued smugness towards his opponents and even outright murder if he thinks that's how he needs to protect his family.
What I like about their appearance: Gonna be real, I love that he's the definition of 'Looks like a cinnamon roll, could kill you'. Michael looks like a fluffy little cinnamon roll who fits into the Obligatory Good Member of the Villain Squad trope, but then you get blindsided by all his endless loyalty and willingness to do what it takes to protect his family No Matter What and the fact that no, Michael is just as much an Arclight as the rest of his family! : )
Do I prefer their dub names or original names? I honestly prefer III over Trey, 'III' conveys that Tron was using him (and his brothers) as his personal pawns much better than Trey does. After all, pawns don't need true names, only numbers.
OTP: Aztecshipping, of course! Yuma/III is so sweet and I love the protector/protectee vibes it has going on with III's sheer protectiveness and knight vibes.
(Like. I wrote a ship manifesto about Aztecship. You know I'm all in on Aztecship if I wrote an entire manifesto about it-)
NOTP: Any ship involving III and his family. I am just not into incest.
OT3: Hmmm...perhaps Michael/Yuma/Alit? I think Michael and Alit should have met in canon, and I think they could all be cute together.
Favourite card they use: Gotta be Chronomaly Atlandis! It's a lava volcano giant that's also Atlantis and also possibly Pompeii, if what Chaos Atlandis did to Tachyon Dragon is any indication!
(Also the fact that it tends to overwhelm or hurt Michael on summon (see: Michael getting overwhelmed when he summoned it during his Yuma duel, Michael deliberately causing himself intense pain to pull off the Chaos Atlandis summon when taking on Mizael) is sooooo emblematic of his self sacrificing nature. Michael will do whatever it takes for those he cares about-)
Favourite moment they were in: Geez. Fuck. He had so many good moments. His big duel against Yuma and all his pent up stress and desperation and envy and rage coming to light in all the worst ways. Michael chucking a sword at Mr. Heartland to protect Yuma. Michael and Chris taking on Mizael despite knowing they would die in the process, all to help Yuma and Kaito get their head starts. (And also Michael getting in some jabs at Mizael in the process. He knew he was never going to win but he was going to go down fighting. He was going to go out as a proud Arclight family member ;-; )
Least favourite moment: Probably that time period where he was in a coma because his crest yanked his soul. I know, he woke up, but the fact that Tron was going to just leave him like that up until Yuma convinced him otherwise...

For the character ask meme: I'm curious what you think about Asuka!
For the anon who also asked Asuka: this is for you, too!
Why I like them/why I don’t
What really sticks out to me about Asuka is how she's straightforward, but also up for crime. When I was rewatching GX proper I was struck by her intro episode where she kidnaps Shou just to get Judai to duel her. You know, a thing that Judai would have done in a heartbeat anyway if she'd just asked directly. You didn't have to threaten a student's life, Asuka, but you did it anyway.
I don't say this to make fun of Asuka. I say this to point HOW QUICKLY she jumped to kidnapping as an option. This is our model honors student, folks!
And then of course there's her standing with the red dorm and against its demolition in season 2, not to mention that half her reason for coming to DA is to investigate a "step foot here and get expelled" location. I know she gets a pass for it when Judai and Shou face expulsion and it's kinda for elitist reasons, but I also like to think she went out there knowing, what are you doing to do? Expel me for investigating the disappearance of my brother, WHO YOU LOST?
I have mixed feelings about the fact that the end of the series has her decide to become a teacher, because season 2 has an episode all about how she's a passionate duelist who enjoys the fight. At the same time, as someone who ended up in education and who really related to Asuka's Darkness nightmares...I kind of feel it.
Also, rituals are cool. :> Asuka gets points in my book for that.
What I like about their appearance
Asuka's design is pretty simple, which is kind of nice. Shout-out to her gloves, adding a bit of duelist's flair and looking very nice in the Taiyou animation:
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?
Original, mostly by habit. I don't have anything against Alexis aside from the general implications of Westernizing names as localization, but GX sub names are just ingrained for me.
OTP
Asuka/dueling. She says it herself, folks.
NOTP
Judai/Asuka, just because so often it feels like obligatory main guy/main girl stuff when both have better options.
OT3
You know, I don't know any Asuka OT3s? The first pitch for an Asuka OT3 I get will be my favorite by default.
Favourite card they use
Cyber Tutu. I know I said I like her ritual monsters, but Cyber Tutu waltzing in to kick you directly in the face always kills me.
Favourite moment they were in
Picking up a sulking Judai by the collar like he's a misbehaving cat. Honestly iconic. Was it a direct solution to the problem? No. Was it still needed? Absolutely.
Least favourite moment
Can I just point to the entire episode with the poker player? Did we really need another rando suitor for Asuka? Did we learn anything about her that we didn't from previous episodes? Could we have an Asuka episode about something other than boys crushing on her???
