Ewan McGregor, who has played the legendary Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for 25 years, was celebrated by friends and family on Thursday morning at the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce - who administer the attraction that draws over 10 million visitors a year. situated just a few feet away from the star honouring the late Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia in Star Wars 1977; later called Star Wars: A New Hope)

Since being catapulted to fame in the Danny Boyle films Shallow Grave and Trainspotting, McGregor has appeared in a string of box office hits including Moulin Rouge, Black Hawk Down, Big Fish, Doctor Sleep, Salmon Fishing In Yemen and He has also starred in Fargo.

McGregor was 26 years old when he first played Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. A fan of Star Wars since childhood, McGregor recounts fond memories of watching the original trilogy of films with his brother. His enthusiasm for becoming part of the galaxy far, far away has never faded in the years since, and he most recently reprised the role in the 2022 six-part series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

McGregor serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF UK, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

He was made an OBE in 2013 for services to drama and charity and has won an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Awards, and the Star Wars prequels, in which he took on the iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

It's rare that I get interested in a character I'm not particularly interested in, in this case Obi-Wan, whom I sketched. This is how I imagined he when I read the "Splintered Realities"...and I really like how the chapters are kind of not that big, but very informative at the same time.

The steady, rhythmic hum of Obi-Wan’s breathing technique was the only sound in your close proximity that could be heard clearly. Beyond the open walls of the large room were the faintest sounds of insect choirs and birdsong, pulling what little amount of concentration you had out of your grasp. With your eyes closed and your legs crossed, you sat across from the Jedi master, attempting to join him in his morning meditation.

Although you were a Jedi yourself, meditation was not your strong suit – or at least, not here in the sanctuary of the meditation room. You preferred the open space of the temple gardens, lying flat on your back and drowning yourself in the sounds of living creatures and plants buzzing all around you. You even favored to meditate at night, when everything was growing still and became basked in the moonlight alongside you, but that meant less time with Obi-Wan. So, you had been trying to adjust your schedules to coordinate with one another – while he compromised on meal times, you compromised on meditation hours.

You were beginning to regret it.

How on earth were you supposed to concentrate this early in morning? Even with the drowsiness of slumber far faded from your senses, you still felt far too distracted and famished to even begin to truly be at peace. Didn’t he at least eat something before he did this every morning?

“(Y/n), I can feel your thoughts wandering,” Obi-wan observed.

“No, that was my stomach growling,” you opened one eye to stare at him from across the mat, “Couldn’t we have at least eaten something before we started?”

“Our bodies should be prepared to go without nourishment for extended periods of time” – he spoke with his eyes still closed, his expression unmoving – “but I recall that you struggled with that lesson when we were padawans.”

You scoffed, opening your eyes completely to gawk at him. Smirking, you added, “And I remember you used to stuff your pockets with hwotha berry pastries in between meals.”

No reaction, of course. You released a strained sigh and attempted to mimic his posture, closing your eyes again. Every few seconds, you found yourself readjusting your body and wiggling your toes to keep them from tingling. With every slight adjustment, your thoughts raced in another direction.

“Try and immobilize your body, (Y/n). Ease yourself into the proper form. Stop squirming.”

Don’t tell me how to meditate, you beautifully-bearded glutton.

“We’re both masters, remember? I know what I’m doing.”

“Mm.” His hum had a suspicious twinge to it as if he didn’t quite believe that statement. You made a face at him and closed your eyes again, scrunching your face in an effort to shove all of your stray thoughts away.

Minutes passed, but it was no use. There were a dozen and one things to think about, and those did not even include the light auburn-haired distraction sitting across from you.

Had you blown out the votive on your bedside table before you’d left your quarters? You were pretty sure you did. Actually, you were positive – you remember choking on the puff of smoke that had flown up your nose.

Where had Anakin and the other younglings gone off to this morning? Was it even time for them to report for training yet? What time was it, anyway? You hoped it was nearing breakfast. And had you given Obi-Wan back that loose long-sleeved tunic you had “borrowed” from his closet the other day? You couldn’t recall…which mean you probably hadn’t. Oh, and there was that blasted council meeting later that afternoon you needed to attend. Had you read all of the archives you had been instructed to go over last week?

You were just at the cusp of concentrating – or so you told yourself - when Obi-Wan’s voice dissolved any sort of progress you had made.

“My goodness,” he smirked ever-so-slightly to himself as he spoke, “You really are struggling today, aren’t you?”

“It’s your fault for making me change my schedule.”

“This was your idea, if I recall correctly.”

You grumbled under your breath. It had been your idea to switch things around so you could be in each other’s company more often throughout the day. However, being awake and trying to meditate before the sun had properly risen and especially before you had been able to eat something hadn’t been a part of your plan. Today just wasn’t a good day for meditating.

When your spine began to ache from your slouching posture, you decided to lie back on the mat, flattening yourself to assuage your discomfort. You released the puff of air you had been balancing in your lungs, spreading your arms out comfortably to your sides, resolving to indulge a bit of relaxing. Your eyes opened and you began studying the detailed architecture of the high ceilings far above you as the early morning shadows flickered across them.

“Giving up already?” Obi-Wan inquired. He almost seemed amused.

“You talk a lot for someone who’s supposed to be meditating.” You muttered.

When you stretched your legs out from around each other, your feet bumped into the fabric of his trousers by accident. You glanced down at him from where you lay and caught Obi-Wan trying to readjust his posture from your slight disruption. Amused by this, you moved your feet back and forth, nudging his knees repeatedly. You heard him groan under his breath which elicited a broad smile to happen upon your features.

Pulling yourself back up into a sitting position, you scooted much closer to him - a mere couple of feet. Then, leaning back on the palms of your hands, you began nudging him again with a little more force. When he refused to respond, you bit back a laugh, trying many more times to provoke a response from him. You pulled at the cuff of his sleeve and tugged at it like an impatient child, blew air in his face, and even attempted to tickle his feet which he promptly tucked beneath his thighs.

Nothing. Apparently he had taken your critique about talking a little too seriously.

What would it take to get him to take you to breakfast?

 You resituated yourself so you sat on your knees and scooted so close to him that you were sure he could feel your nearing gaze coming down upon him like a bright sunbeam. You admired his handsome features for a moment; his light auburn tendrils that framed his face, his eyelashes that were annoyingly fuller than yours, the chiseled outline of his lips beneath the neatly combed scruff of his beard…but sadly, his blue eyes were hidden behind his steady expression.

Luckily, you had an idea of how to get him to break from meditating.

You leaned forward and planted your lips against his cheek softly, allowing yourself to linger against him longer than necessary. The contented – and slightly shocked – breath that escaped his lips make you chuckle. You pulled back a little ways, still leaning forward on your hands.

“How was my form, Master Kenobi?” You murmured. Finally, his brilliant blue eyes fluttered open and latched onto your doting gaze.

“Unacceptable,” his smile was devilishly handsome as it drew you towards him effortlessly, “try again.”

When you leaned forward once more, his lips were ready to catch yours. He gently touched your face, tracing your cheek with his thumb until he found his fingers tangled in your hair, pulling you into his grasp. You felt yourself melting against him as you both moved in unison with each other – both of you equally giving and taking. The warmth of his proximity heated your body like the flickering flames of a fire.

Your breath mingled together as you pulled apart, smiling against one another and sneaking one last peck against the corner of his mouth. You leaned back onto the mat and mirrored his posture as you had before with a playful expression. A strand of your hair was still wrapped around his fingers. The chill that spread across his skin when you covered his hand with yours thrilled him.

“I think I can concentrate, now, Obi.”

He smiled flirtatiously, “I can’t say the same for myself.”
