i'm in a satan phase rn and i'm making it everyone's problem. this is a rewrite of chapter 29-12 with satan's dialogue lifted directly from the source material. college may be beating me with a steel chair but thirst never sleeps babey

your vision blurred ever so slightly as you sat on the plush couch, eyes fluttering shut in the wake of your failed hex. you heard a loud thump nearby as mammon's body hit the floor, subdued by what sounded like a very solid kick to the sternum from satan. when the second born was properly subdued, satan spoke up.

"looks like he's lost consciousness. he should be back to normal by the time he wakes up."

he turned to address you, taking a few steps toward the couch and lowering his volume just a little.

"so, you managed to perform the curse, but your delivery was wild. which means you failed. you need to maintain control at all times. when you recite your incantation, you need to say it clearly and with confidence. keep that in mind next time."

"right... i'll do better next time, i promise." you opened your eyes and gave the fourth born a pitiful look.

he sighed and sat next to you on the couch, the sternness on his face soon melting to subtle concern. if your head wasn't spinning, you might have commented on it.

"now, i mentioned this when we were covering the fundamentals, but when you perform a curse, it takes a toll on your body." his gaze bounced across your body, scanning for any outward damage before continuing. "i'm guessing you feel dizzy. i'll go ahead and fix that for you."

his lithe fingers found the spot between your brows, the pad of his thumb pressing in the spot as if to reach through your skull and apply the spell directly to your aching brain.

"'may the vestiges of the curse that linger within the person before me be eliminated. i am the one they call satan... hear my command!'"

a dreamy sigh left your lips as the thrumming in your head faded away in a matter of moments. now you could hear the calming crackle of the fireplace and satan's quiet breathing next to you-- not blood pounding in your ears, eager to remind you of your failure.

"so, how's that? you feel better now, right?"

you melted a little under his watch. green eyes inspected your face as the questions left his lips, brows furrowed ever so slightly as he triple-checked his work. leave it to satan so save your ass-- again. he'd taken up the arduous task of tutoring you for exam season, sacrificing some of his own study time to ensure you got yours. even if it was lucifer's orders, it still meant a lot to you that he did it, that he navigated every one of your slip-ups with ease (and minimal complaint). you were in awe of him once again. was there anything he wasn't capable of? praise fell from your lips before you could reign in your wandering thoughts.

"satan, you're just so amazing..."

he blinked once, twice, drinking in the pleasant sigh that delivered such sweet words to his ears. when his thoughts finally caught up with the present, a warm flush flooded his cheeks. unlike the past, though, satan did not shy away from your praise.

"well, if that's how you feel, then how about a kiss."

maybe it was meant to come out as a question, but the conviction in his voice definitely made it a declaration of want. not like you'd ever mind.

you tilted your head up ever so slightly, eyes closing, leaning in to kiss him-- satan caught you half way, warm lips meeting yours in an attempt to salvage the dignity lost from an over-eager response to a simple compliment. his hand found the side of your neck, slender fingers cool against the heat of your soft skin. his thumb brushed across your throat, a simple expression of need and want communicated by a barely perceptible squeeze. please stay right here. please be mine. i want you to be all mine. your hand found the front of his sweater and grasped gently at the fabric, tugging him closer-- a request he gladly complied with, leaning into your touch without question. his lips were always soft, untainted tonight by the scowl that earned him his namesake, pressing harder against yours now, dominant yet gentle. you knew home was in the plam of his hand. his free hand ghosted across the top of your thigh, knee to hip, eventually settling on your waist and gripping the fabric of your shirt for support.

your lips parted slightly, allowing him access to every part of you, moaning slightly as you felt his tongue glide along yours. his grip on the side of your shirt tightened momentarily, a kiss goodbye to his sturdy self-restraint, before it slipped to the small of your back and pushed your forward into his chest. a surprised gasp left your lips and got caught against his. satan's lips curled into a coy smile against yours, a chuckle vibrating deep within his chest at the lovely little sounds you made. your eager fingers left the front of his shirt and pulled him closer by the nape of his neck, fingers tangling in golden locks, nails scratching slightly against his scalp.

the kiss finally broke-- the need for air was always inconvenient-- and satan wasted no time pressing his lips against the crook of your neck. your head lulled to the side to give him each and every inch he could possibly want, the promise of more pleasure shaving away any reservations you might have, assisted by his slender fingers still holding your throat. warm kisses led to sucking against your tender skin, now bruising under his guidance. his canine, dull in comparison to his demon form yet pleasurably sharp in this moment, dragged across your sensitive skin, pulling a breathy moan from deep within your chest.

he pulled back slightly, breath tickling your cheek as he spoke. you could hear the smug grin pulling at his lips.

"... make sure you keep it down, okay? we don't want to wake mammon."

he peeked over your shoulder at the body slumped against the floor, and you followed suit. mammon was still out cold right where you left him. his arm was twisted awkwardly underneath him-- you knew he'd be complaining about the soreness when he woke.

you felt your body falling back in the direction of your gaze. you jumped just a little, whipping around only to come upon an intoxicating sight. satan's hand was warm against your sternum-- you must have been to distracted to notice it at first-- carefully guiding your back down to the plush cushions of the couch. he grinned from his vantage point above you, nudging your legs open with his knee and slotting himself cozily between your thighs. his green eyes glittered victoriously, melting you into putty underneath his gaze. he didn't even have to open his mouth to leave you speechless.

your head hit the pillow decisively. satan's grin widened. if you didn't know him, you'd think the glint in his eyes and the curl of his lips were malicious. but you'd been under him like this many times before. his gaze held a sharp mirth, like a thief's eyes landing on a crown jewel-- like a predator stumbling across the most delectable of prey. you shuddered under him, shifting in an attempt to hide the mix of anxiety and impatience brewing in your stomach.

"then again... i guess we don't really have to worry about that. from the looks of things, he shouldn't regain consciousness for a good while."

he lowered himself closer, lips finding your jawline and pressing a few teasing kisses from your chin back towards your ear. his teeth grazed your earlobe, breath hot and heavy and alluring, before he murmured in your ear.

"looks like we have all the time we need..."

Okay I wasn’t feeling lesson 28/29 it was okay but…eh Satan’s chapter was good I liked his. I had a lot to say but I got busy and now that moments gone so whatever. I related to most it and hit close to home for me.

Lesson 30…

I was a bit confused that we didn’t make a pact with beel in lesson 29. Now I know why, we need a Belphie‘s blessing (ironic) in order to marry make a pact with beel which, honestly I like that. I know a lot of people don’t like it think that belphie's being too possessive or whatever, but it makes sense I mean he lost his little sister because she fell in love with a human, now his twin who is his whole world practically wants to get closer with you a human. Yeah he’s gonna be a bit skeptical even though he’s chill with you now that fear/uncertainty is still going to linger within him, which I’m glad that they at least made him not 100% okay with it. even though he was set In killing you in the first game and fine with you now...

Now the Angels trial thing…I was so pissed for the reason most are sad about

I absolutely adored this sequence. I love when they add in subtle scenes or moments that show the brothers' bonds more. Like Satan was clearly aware that the only person Beel would listen to is Belphie. And his twin brother is the only person (I'd imagine even over Lucifer) who Beel would control his hunger for when told to in a firm manner as Belphie did here.

I just love brother bonds in general and in an otome game about 7 BROTHERS, I literally crave every small bit of brother bonding/established traits they throw my way! Give me more y'all

 I know what you’re going to say. Sebastian? As a dad in canon? This’s a joke right? You can’t be serious! He’s a demon! He’s just doing it because of the contract! That’s what I used to think too and then I read the Campania and the Emerald Witch arc. Because in the manga they’re portrayed as a butler and his employer and in my opinion a father and a son not whatever hentai screwed up shit that was happening in the anime that I’ve never really gotten over. Believe it or not. I’ve actual got some things that I’d say count as proof for this but firstly we need to establish what three things Ciel asked from him when they made their deal. 

1. That Sebastian never lie to him.

2. That Sebastian obeys every command that Ciel gives him (it only counts if he says ‘This is an order’)

3. Protect him without fail until he completes his revenge. 

Now we have the rules and I can get into this really long post. The first two terms are pretty straight forward where some of the confusion comes in is number 3 what counts as ‘protecting’ Ciel without fail? Does he protect him from sickness and mental anguish? Does he protect his happiness or does he simply keep him from getting physically hurt? Canon has an answer for that. When Ciel made that a term Sebastian actually asked what he meant by that did he mean keep him safe from all illness? If so he could keep him inside his stomach for the rest of eternity (I’m paraphrasing but he says something like this in Black Butler ‘book of Atlantis’ or the luxury liner arc if you wanna check it out). Ciel understandably didn’t like that and explicitly stated ‘physical harm’. Why’s this important for this meta? Because of something Sebastian does in the Jack the Ripper arc. He hid Ciel’s eyes from the gory as hell sight in front of him and told him not to look.

What was the point in this? It wouldn’t have meant anything it didn’t hurt him physically, it was just blood and other things right? And knowing how horrific this poor kid’s backstory is he’s probably seen worse than it. I mean what those animals did to him was pretty bad and then having to watch a sacrifice as well? Along with watching Sebastian brutally murder all the others as well? He’s seen a lot of shit. If he was just salivating over his soul why did he choose to cover his eye and yank him backwards? Why show any sort of protectiveness over him. You can be possessive over your food of course you can but to protect them from something they’ve already seen? Seems a bit weird if ya ask me. It’s an oddly parental thing to do you could say.

These two pannels happen in the book of circus, granted Ciel’s sick here and as a butler Sebastian would probably think this is expected of him to check on him but he could’ve just asked. He didn’t have to check his head like that. Again it’s a very parental thing to do. But these are just random instances right? It doesn’t matter much right? Except he does a few other things to that are again oddly parental of him in this arc

He picks him up like a literal baby.

He’s cradling him against his chest and if you look here.

He’s actually patting his back because he’s coughing, do you see the way Hana drew it so it’s moving? He didn’t need to do that either but he does, he’s patting his back to help him breathe a little better. You may say whatever you like about Sebastian but this remains an irrefutable fact. He’s treating him like a parent would treats their sick child and this is canon. He’s comforting him and as we established in the beginning. This isn’t a part of their contract. He’s only meant to keep Ciel safe from physical harm. Go to chapter 29 and you’ll see this just as I have. But the real dad feels happen much later. For anyone who isn’t caught up with the manga but would like to there’s spoilers under the cut.

Look at this from chapter 89 and 62. Doesn’t seem too weird right? Well it’s not until you look at these two from later. 

“It’s Ciel smiling! What’s so weird about that!?” It’s Sebastians’ smile.

Notice something? He’s acting like Sebastian.

In this pannel the queen said that Ciel’s a lot like his father on any other day you’d think he’d be happy to be compared to him but he simply comes off as confused and I think it’s because he’s not sure which father he’s becoming more like. That’s my take on it but I’m sure there’s a number of ways you could take this. But this pannel is also a fact and canon and the slide after this is incredibly interesting because guess who’s on the front page? Only Sebastian and then there’s a very interesting exchange between them.

This is after his talk with the queen and how she compared him to his father. People like to think Sebastian doesn’t love anything but the thing is he does he adores Ciel in a non-creepy way and whether he likes it or not he’s grown to love Ciel. I daresay he loves him more than anything because in the end that’ll be the true heartbreaker I can’t see this ending with them both alive who dies I’m not sure but when it happens that’s going to be the moment they realize that they love each other and just to kick you in the teeth more did you notice that when the undertaker stabbed Sebastian and looked at his record that his life began when Ciel made a deal with him. 

Whether that  means the life of Sebastian Michealis the butler or that his life literally began when Ciel came into it one thing is for sure Ciel is literally his world and that’s a fact too.

The Bible consists of 44 verses that mention the name Simeon. Most of which are in reference to the son of Jacob, and The Tribe of Simeon which is named after him. It’s also mentioned 3 times in the Gospels, all 3 in the Gospel of Luke. 2 verses are about a man who gives a prophecy about Jesus upon meeting him and his parents. Taking into consideration that Simeon from Obey Me wrote TSL, which seems to consist of prophecies, and his companion being a young angel named Luke, if Simeon is a reference to someone in The Bible, it would be him.

(I apologize in advance for the weird mix of vagueness and explanations, I had to partially explain this before the MC essays but have to use the MC essays to further explain this rip)

Simeon the Angel

What does the little prophet have in store for us?

NASB Luke 2:25-35 

“25)And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

26)And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

27)And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,

28)Then he took Him into his arms, and blessed God, and said, 

29)“Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;

30)For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

31)Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,

32)A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

33)And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him.

Knowing who Simeon is in Obey Me in reference to The Bible, tells us less about him as a character, and more about a prophecy he tells. So what does this mean?

If we put this into the context of Obey Me, it would make sense that Simeon is a prophet considering he wrote TSL. (And the play in chapter 28) TSL describes seven demon brothers as different Lords (all of them being one of the seven demon brothers that the MC knows) and has a main protagonist, Henry, that helps the seven demon brothers throughout the story (just as the MC helps the seven demon brothers). Considering that TSL had already been, at least partially, written before the MC shows up, and talks about the main protagonist helping the brothers, this would be a prophecy that came to pass.

“34) And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed-

35)And a sword will pierce even your own soul-to the end that many hearts may be revealed”

Simeon has a very important role within the story, because he’s the one who will prophesize about a figure who will come and “save” the world(s). He has the power to know about the coming of someone who will be the cause of significant change. The one he will prophesize about will, inevitably, bring with them salvation and destruction.( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

“29)“Now Lord, You are releasing Your bond-servant to depart in peace, According to Your word;

30)For my eyes have seen Your salvation,

31)Which You have prepared in the presence of all peoples,

32)A Light of revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.””

There is a very real possibility that Simeon will die. It was established early on within the story that angels can die because we know that Lilith was supposed to die. In both instances of Simeon, he is a significant character; both are prophets that have said prophecies about very important characters within each story. The Bible’s Simeon prophesied about Jesus, who is literally the defining character that makes Christianity well, Christianity. Obey Me’s Simeon, who seems to be based off of Bible Simeon, should prophesize about someone equally important, aka Henry in TSL who is MC. The two important facts about Bible Simeon is that he prophesied about Jesus, and that he was promised he wouldn’t die until he met Jesus. Obey Me’s Simeon has met one of these fates so far, who’s to say he won’t meet the other?

Note: I highly doubt anyone who dies will stay dead just considering the type of story Obey Me is.  (Even Lilith didn't stay dead >.<)

Summary: Simeon is honestly the only character I haven’t had the urge to fist fight in the parking lot of a Denny’s at 2 pm, which is pretty neat of him I think. The one thing I have against him is the fact that I can’t marry him which I think is bullshit. Simeon is a prophet and will probably die but like, I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think I will be lmao. My lovely little Trope™ sensors have been going off for a long while that are yelling “he’s gonna die babey!!!” and he ain’t the only one makin them go off so have fun with that fact!

Summary: Simeon is based on a prophet who was kinda important because he prophesied about Jesus and was told he wouldn’t die until he met him. OM Simeon prophesied about MC aka Henry in TSL and now only has one thing left to do! :) (You’re so mean)

Okay so, I have this headcanon that Solomon is actually pretty old (for a human like maybe in in late 40s or so) but is using magic to appear young/ different from his real look AND i think he has met MC in the human world when he was in his real form, maybe even fell in love with them?? Maybe that's why he knew our name when we first meet him in the main story. Your thoughts??

Hey there! This is a really interesting concept that I think some of the recent chapters touched upon, so just in case, I want to give you a fair warning that there are SPOILERS for Season 2 of Obey Me in the first half of this thing and some biblical references I pulled.

Also I want to say, honestly, unless it’s proven wrong, all headcanons are valid. I may not agree with you on all of them, but this is just MY take. I just want all of us to have fun with this game with our own Thoughts and Guesses! :))

I agree with you wholeheartedly that Solomon is definitely older than he looks, but instead of being in his late 40′s, I headcanon that he’s more similar to the demon brothers in age. 

I think in the recent chapters (Chapter 29-5 specifically), it’s heavily implied that Solomon is, in fact, King Solomon from ~900 BCE. When he talks to MC regarding the use of their pacts and subjugation of the seven demon brothers, he recalls back when he was able to do the same to 72 demons with the use of the ring the Archangel Michael gave him. This was mentioned in previous chapters regarding King Solomon’s chapters and referencing the biblical story, and he’s stating it out right here:

I believe the ‘house’ he was referring to is actually Solomon’s Temple, which was started by King Solomon to be built in Jerusalem. (Of course he would downplay THE Temple into something vague as per game rules to not be so biblically focused and also because that’s just in Solomon’s personality to do so.) 

In one of my essays I wrote for a class (lol yeah i know), I said that “the temple itself is three-stories high” and is of “formidable height in comparison to the rest of the architecture in Jerusalem.” This certainly sounds like it was “a bit larger than your average house.” And considering the fact that an angel provided him this ring of power makes sense in the context that Solomon’s Temple was built to emulate imagery from the Garden of Eden and meant to be a monument in dedication to God. 

While I’m sure this feat was possible through intense human labor, based off this conversation in-game, this certainly does sound like it could have been the work of demons in this case, no? Considering he ruled (in history) from 970 BCE ~ 935 BCE, that makes him to be about 3000 years old.

I’m actually still debating whether or not Solomon is using magic to appear young/different or if he simply is not aging-- which I guess you could also chalk it up to magic as well. :0 I wonder if he mentions this anywhere; I haven’t read all the hard chapters of this season yet, but I’m not sure if we’ll ever know.

Regarding the idea that Solomon could have met MC in the human world-- that would be a pretty cute way of meeting, wouldn’t it? Very meet-cute and full of pining which is something that I personally adore. 

However, I do believe the reason why Solomon knows our name is because we’re quite the hot topic in the Devildom. Entering Chapter 2-2, Solomon confirms this when we ask him how he knows our name by telling us: “You’re probably not aware of this, but you’re a bit of a celebrity here at RAD right now. Just being an exchange student from the human world makes you special enough. But on top of that, you’ve got an infamous demon like Mammon looking after you as well.”

But honestly.... Solomon could easily be lying to us about how he knows about us and he could actually know us from before. I don’t personally headcanon this, but I can see someone easily writing a story where Solomon DOES fall in love with MC in the human world and is elated to find that he gets to know you better as an exchange student; but easily hides the fact he knows you before. 

Solomon, to me, does not seem to hold much affection for MC when they first meet-- in fact, his first meeting with him for me made me feel on edge because of how suspicious he was being; not a great first impression for someone who he’s in love with (but my friend A who co-runs this blog with me would say otherwise...).

But this can be easily changed if we knew a little bit more about Solomon and could delve into his thoughts more because he is quite a mysterious figure. I could definitely see him developing a soft spot of MC as things progress, especially considering how flirty he’s been from the moment he invited you down to the Devildom with him. (The fact that he may have ulterior motives to bring you down is neither here nor there.)

I’m not exactly sure what you were expecting when you sent in this ask, but I have written you an essay for your time!! As you can see, I was very passionate about this topic aslfasfsj I think your headcanons are super interesting and makes me think that you wish Solomon was a dateable character HAHA which I’m sure many people can agree with. I’m very sure that we’ll get to see more of this guy in the upcoming chapter, and I’m looking forward to seeing how our newly found powers will affect us.
