Okay I get why people say conquest is such a good game. The pair up/dual strike system is sooo compelling. Constantly micromanaging stats vs actions and combined with rescue dropping/chains🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

This game kinda kicks ass and I'm only on ch11 lol. But even like, looking at ch10 I'm very confident the rest of the maps are gonna be good too. Usually defense maps are just waiting out. Timer while turtling somewhere but here with the spread out houses and sorta being forced to fight obero to get to the one house forces you to be really active in your play. Fuck the pegasi that ignore everything though those guys are assholes

Shame about the writing.

Might have more thoughts on the skill and reclass system once I'm deeper in the game. I'm not really gonna use many guys though so. Maybe not that many thoughts.

Hold-up

Ami-Lu had been stressed enough before her shift began. This was set to be their busiest day of the year, and they'd all been working overtime to make it a success. Obero III was the most highly anticipated release of the season, and every store had packed their shelves, back-rooms and even the staff breakout area (as she'd discovered when opening the cupboard with the teabags) with as much stock as they could get their hands on. They still expected to sell-out.

Potential customers had been queueing outside the door, even before they'd opened. Ami-Lu had passed them coming in, and been worried they might try to tailgate her through the staff entrance. She'd seen similar lines at Herman's across the road, and knew they'd be writhing all over town, all over the country, as the day progressed, like lazy snakes sunbathing at the entrance to a rabbit hole. She certainly felt like prey, with all those hungry eyes at their door, and now arriving her till, as if she was trapped by their incessant demand. Especially when the man pointed a gun at her face.

"This is a hold-up," he said. He was wearing a face-mask; one of the characters from Obero. Ami-Lu wasn't really familiar, but there had been a few of them in line.

"Now?" she asked him. In her current state, already overwhelmed with stress, she almost laughed. "You've picked the right date, but the wrong time. We've hardly made any sales yet today, and the registers get emptied overnight. You wanted to join the back of the queue, not the front."

"I'm not here to empty the register," he said. "I'm here to stop it being filled."

"You want to stop our sales." People around them had backed away at the sight of the gun - slowly, at first, but then at a run once it was clear it wouldn't turn on them. The queues coming in had become a panicked rush to leave. "No - redirect them. Are you from Herman's, or somewhere else?"

"You'll never know. But I guess I've already cost you a lot of sales. A lot of money. Money which will go elsewhere."

"And when one of those people calls the police?" She thought these people usually stopped their hostages from leaving, until the robbery was done.

"Oh, I'll leave before they arrive. They'll do my job for me. How long before they let people back into the store, do you think? How long before somebody takes your statement? Long enough for people waiting to make other choices. If any of them even wanted to come back inside today."

"They'll catch you. You've robbed us of a day's profits. They won't let this one go."

"Catch us how?" he asked. "Following the money? Sure, you're lost a day's profits, but there isn't anything to trace. You'll all know where it's going - spread between a dozen other stores - but there won't be any bank transfers to track, money laundering to flag. That's how they normally catch you. The police won't kill themselves to chase after money that doesn't exist. All I've done is threaten you. With a fake gun, by the way. It's a prop, like the rest of my costume. A harmless misunderstanding. Your lost profits are just collateral damage."

"You've only wasted my time," Ami-Lu realised. "But today, most of all days, time is money."

The face-mask nodded. "This is a hold-up."
