Kürzlich erst las ich wieder etwas über das erste Kreuzfahrtschiff der Global-Klasse, das in den MV Werften in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern an den Standorten Wismar und Rostock gebaut wird. Dies Schiff, das für die Eigner der Werften, die Genting Gruppe, entsteht, ist nach seiner Fertigstellung nichts anderes als ein Megaliner. 342 Meter lang wird er werden, 46,40 Meter breit und das bei einem Tiefgang von 9,50 Meter. Man spricht von einer Größe von 204.000 BRZ, der bei Doppelbelegung über 5.000 Passagieren in 2.500 Kabinen Platz bieten soll. Dem gegenüber stehen eine rund 2.500 Personen starke Besatzung. Allerdings, und da kommt so langsam der Punkt an dem ich nur noch die Stirn runzeln kann, wird dieses Schiff Rettungskapazitäten für etwa 9.500 Menschen haben, um dem hohen Andrang während asiatischer Ferienzeiten standhalten zu k��nnen. Das heißt also, dass die Global-Klasse darauf ausgelegt ist, bis zu 9.500 Passagiere zu transportieren.
