Project Nene Romanova (part 3)

Once again, while I wait for Nene’s head, I’m procuring her parts so she doesn’t arrive only to be a sad naked head for a while.  And again I must thank tita-doremi on eBay for this lovely wig!

I’ll give Emi a rest today and have Michiko be the wig tester this time.

Obviously I’m going to have to cut the wig once Nene’s head arrives ;)  The top isn’t as fluffy as I’d prefer, though I do think that once the weight of the extra hair is removed, that it’ll spring up.  And if not, I’ll just whip out my curling iron like I did with Priss’ wig and go to town!

Selling dolls on Ebay - yes or no?

I’ve been struggling to sell an Oasisdoll Linglan on DOA for months. I even dropped the price but so far, I’ve had no response. 

Tbh I just wanna sell her so I can use the money for other things. So I’ve been seriously considering putting her on Ebay in the hopes of selling her more quickly. Does anyone have experience with selling BJDs on Ebay? Good? Bad?

Project Michiko Ishiodori (part 2)

Remember how I mentioned I wasn't quiiiite happy with Michiko's hair and eyes?  Well, I got the main thing fixed, at least: I FINALLY found a wig for her that I was happy with!  Much thanks to mybayer2008 on eBay!

Here's how it looked when it first arrived: lovely color, but too long, and no bangs built in.

Yep, I had my work cut out for me, though thankfully it wasn't as labor-intensive as doing Emi's wig.  I clipped back the parts of the wig that I didn't want to be part of the bangs, them trimmed them down, making sure to leave some length, because I didn't want to risk cutting them too short.

Notice that they didn't quite want to act as actual bangs.  This is where I employed a method I'd heard about but not personally tried: the boiling-hot-water method: dousing the parts I wanted to be the said in said water so that they'd be easier to shape into actual bangs.  (Note: don't do ACTUAL rolling-boil water, do almost-boiling, or you'll risk melting some of the hair, even if it claims to be heat-resistant.  Ask me how I know.)  I ended up doing it twice, since part of the hair still wanted to stick out (plus I had to trim some of the melted hair), but after that, the hair was much more bang-like, and once they were dry, I was able to proceed.

I cut down the length of the actual hair down to just below waist-length, as I knew the length the wig came in would be far too long for Michiko's looped ponytail.  With the help of my husband (since I don't have enough hands), I was able to her hair into the desired hairstyle.  While bigger than I wished for, the hubby kindly pointed out that with the way I pictured it in my head, it would probably be too short to get into that style, so I relented.  After that, I set to work with fine-tuning the bangs, putting Dollfie Water Wax into them to shape them as well as smooth down the rest of her hair.

And there you have it!  MUCH closer to how she's supposed to look (though of course I'd prefer the looped ponytail to be smaller!)  I'll try to get some shots with her and Yumeko together soon :D
