sometimes you just gotta imagine your f/o holding you close to them, petting your head, hearing their voice speak to you softly as they remind you that everything is gonna be alright, that you're gonna be alright, no matter how much you feel like you aren't, no matter how much your mind tells you that you aren't. your f/o is here to remind you that you can and will get through it and you will be okay, especially with them by your side. and they will stay with you until you feel safe again, no matter how long that takes.

something something nina’s cover of the times they are a’changin’ as the final song of ofmd s2 is the only song that could end this season because come mothers and fathers throughout the land don’t criticize what you can’t understand, your sons and your daughters are beyond your command: the old road is rapidly aging, please get out of the window if you can’t lend your hand, for the times they are a’changing something something

It is done. The third anniversary drawing. I would have gotten it done in time for the actual anniversary had I not. Gotten sick earlier this May and then not wait until the literal, actual 19th to start this drawing, but anyway-
Yee! I made it a... more sad drawing than I usually do them lol. It just... really didn't feel right to have them being all happy and smiling after I ended the last chapter how I did. Of course, I realize the irony of saying that and then literally writing "Happy 3rd Anniversary" on the drawing smh
Here's one without the text and then one where I tried to put a little filter on it! The filter didn't work out as well as I wanted and was sort of finicky, so I didn't include it as the first picture in the post lmao
I experimented with the grass and everything! It was really kind of tedious, but I like how it turned out lol. I also tried a different texture with shading a lil bit. It's also my first time drawing a night sky! :D I hope it turned out kinda well. It was fun! I will have to try it more in the future.

Short non-canon scene for @thedawningofthehour's fic, which is rotating in my head like a rotisserie chicken at all times. Heard you mention that Draxum and Galois don't celebrate Father's Day. I had some thoughts.
@everyone else if you haven't read The Dawning of the Hour yet... Go do that? I'll wait here.

if it's an intox and blood kink kind of night we should talk about porter offering jace some of his own blood. i cannot shake the mental image of jace giving porter a nasty slash with one of his daggers out of anger and then porter wipes away a rivulet of blood with his finger and offers it to jace. who starts sucking on it, desperate for anything that porter will give him. and of course porter's blood gets jace high bc it's full of ambrosia (see here) and mortals really shouldn't be consuming it.

“It’s okay, I-I’ve got you, I won’t ever let them lay another hand on you ever again. I promise,” Caretaker squeezed Whumpee tight, tears streaming down their face as they savoured every second with Whumpee, “You’re safe, I promise you’re safe.”

Can we acknowledge for a second how insane it is that both Wally and Bart had to have significant character arcs to understand that sometimes people die?
With other heroes it's just a fact of life. People die. People die all the time. That's just the job. There's no escaping that. There was never any room for doubt.
They try as hard as they can to save everyone but they're only human. Sometimes they can't and sometimes people die.
But for Wally and Bart?
Oh man.
Wally was aware of the concept of death. He'd seen corpses, he knew that people died and that it was a commonplace thing.
But someone dying on his watch? Failing to save someone, no matter what the circumstances, was not even an option to Wally. It didn't happen. He was fast enough to make sure it never happened.
His actual literal catch phrase as the Flash was "Nobody dies."
I'm not joking.
He even had a storyline where a lady was thrown out of an airplane and Wally, who obviously can't fly and who would have no way of saving her, jumped out after her because nobody dies. And he did save her. He figured out a new way of using superspeed while plummeting to his death. The moral of that adventure to Wally was that no one should die ever when he's the Flash because he can always save everyone if he tries hard enough.
He then had another adventure where someone was going to die and he couldn't save them and he could not handle that. This man STOPPED. TIME. He stopped time because "if time doesn't move then they can't die" and he intended to never restart time because he was having a full blown panic attack over someone dying on his watch.
Thankfully he was able to calm down and figure out a plan to save them. He had to accept that it might not work and they might die and he had to be okay with that. Because he tried his best and that was all he could do. He did end up saving everyone in the end. No one died.
But I mention this because the man was in his mid 20's the first time he actually had to come to terms with the inevitability of death.
He wasn't being naive or ignorant. He wasn't being arrogant or cocky. The man had legitimately never failed to save someone.
Now Bart, in comparison, had to face death in general a lot sooner than Wally did. Wally was basing his conclusions based on his experience but Bart legitimately had no idea what death was.
He had to learn that people could die by witnessing the people he cares about have close calls. He had to learn that he could die by experiencing his own death.
I'm honestly not entirely convinced Bart has had to accept that he can't save everyone. There are arguments to be made for sure but I don't think he's ever explicitly had that "Oh shit, I can't save them. They will die" moment.
Regardless though, I think this really speaks to their abilities and efficiency in the field. Also their sheer power. It doesn't matter if it's a city of 2 million people and there's a nuke 1 second away from detonating. It doesn't matter if the criminal has a hostage at gun point and has already pulled the trigger. It doesn't matter if a building gets hit during a fight and crumbles into dust. There will be no casualties. There will be no hostages. There will be no friendly fire. They save everyone. No exceptions.

e-42 prowlerbyte angst (kinda) cuz i thought it'd be funny but in like a sad way
margo actually hating the prowler and thinking anyone with masks and weapons are terrible ppl just bc of how bad things are on earth-42
every time miles and his uncle show up on tv news channels she talks shit abt them not knowing she's talkin about her bf and his uncle
miles is oddly defensive every time, just sayin stuff like "margo you literally have never seen these two hurt civilians or anyone else but cops for that matter"
margo argues back "they obviously steal stuff and use bombs that could hurt someone tho. and nobody who's up to any good is swingin around wearing stuff like THAT"
miles rolls his eyes and pouts a lil bit about it but is genuinely distressed that his own gf can't see the good that the prowler does on a near daily basis so that pushes him to actually help more civvies whenever possible.
it kinda annoys aaron but he understands. eventually aaron lets him go off and do his own thing occasionally, stopping bank robbers from shooting unarmed bystanders and whatnot
the word spreads relatively quickly and soon prowler gains a "vigilante" label on the streets. a couple of his saves end up on the news, too
cue miles smirking at margo one day as they're sat in miles' living room with the tv on.
"...so. looks like prowler's moving different lately, just like i said he would. not lookin too bad there, is he?"
margo scoffs and shakes her head. "i mean... it's cool that he's saving ppl now i guess. doesnt mean hes a good guy exactly but we'll take what we can get!"
this definitely doesnt help miles' paranoia at all tho. he's even more adamant with his uncle that margo cannot know abt their prowler business now more than ever.
