if i was a demigod, i would not be able to kill hellhounds if i met mrs o’leary because if she’s good then the rest have that same potential!! i’d get eaten alive trying to cuddle one.

Mrs. O’Leary’s parents are Percy and Nico. Percy and Nico are Divorced. They both wanted full custody of her but the judges (Chiron and Annabeth and Grover and Will and Coach Hedge and Daedalus-yes Nico summoned his ghost for the custody trial-) all voted for them to split custody of Mrs. O’Leary 50/50.
Percy and Nico trade her off in the McDonald’s parking lot every Friday like all split up parents do (I know this from experience I was the kid). This weekly meet up often spurs arguments about how Mrs. O’Leary is raised. They try to keep these arguments hushed and quiet so Mrs. O’Leary won’t get stressed out. She hears them anyway because hell hounds have supper hearing. She hears every word. But she appreciates that they are being calm and mature with these arguments.
Annabeths the cool stepmom. Wills the responsible stepdad. Chiron and Daedalus and Sally and Paul and Hades and Persephone are the grandparents. Grover’s the sweet wholesome uncle. Hedge is the playful scrappy uncle. Percy and Nico are her parents.
Once a month Percy and Nico both spend a weekend with her in a secluded park or in the woods. They agree to no arguments during these weekends. These two days are about Mrs. O’Leary seeing her parents get along despite their differences and both bonding and playing with her as a family. Sometimes the stepparents or grandparents or uncles will join them. Mrs. O’Leary loves these days and cherishes the memories of her parents hanging out together and playing with her.
Edit: I am so sorry I totally forgot about Beckendorf and Silena. They’re the favorite cool older cousins that babysit every other weekend. And yes they come along on the retreat in the woods to play with her.

I feel like people who think Percy should have done more to convince Nico to stay in the the 4th book, don't fully realise that Camp isn't a safe place for those who aren't accepted. Not only had Percy been initially shunned by his fellow campers when his parentage had been revealed, being at camp had put him under the radar of the gods, and in close quarters with one god. Percy hadn't had a choice when it came to his first Quest, he either had to leave Camp or get turned into a dolphin. It was lucky that he chose to go on the Quest, because nobody, except maybe Grover, would have helped him if he'd been forced to flee. Not only would Nico have had to deal with the campers' fear, he would have been a sitting duck for the gods, either to use or destroy. That's why, when Percy got the chance in The Last Olympian, he advocated for him, and got him a place in Camp, so nobody could doubt that he belonged there, or was worthy of respect.
Exactly. Percy had a pretty bad experience at camp for the first three summers he was there for three different reasons (being claimed that first summer that set him apart from the crowd, getting bullied in the second summer for having a cyclops for a brother, and Thalia coming back made people completely ignore him in favor of the daughter of Zeus, the new shiny prophecy kid). He knows what it’s like to be an outlawed demigod and he wouldn’t force anyone else to live the same circumstances he did. Especially since Hades already doesn’t have a good standing with the gods or their children. Notice how he was immediately blamed for the theft of the master bolt. And of course he would have had to stay there full time since he doesn’t have a mortal address so like you said he’d be under the gods’ thumbs 24/7 and made to prove his loyalty to Olympus by going on stupid quests, if not outright killed. In ttc, the Olympians almost had Percy executed just for existing, the only reason they didn’t is because Poseidon threw his weight behind him. Somehow I don’t think they hold Hades in such high regard and even if they did, Hades himself didn’t hold Nico in high regard until much much later so yea he’d be dead one way or the other.
But yea no dumping on Percy for knowing all of this is and recognizing it as a sad reality because it was his sad reality as well is not the hot take that some people think it is.

The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary is an excellent rom-com, an unputdownable read that also deals with serious issues. Tiffy is a young assistant editor slowly trying to get over an ex who she is slowly going to realize was emotionally abusive. Leon is a dedicated professional nurse whose brother was wrongfully imprisoned. Leon works nights and needs an extra source of income, so he puts out an ad: someone who will share the apartment, sleep in his one-bedroom at night, and be gone by the time he returns in the morning. As the two flatmates (bedmates?) switch off, their post-it notes become increasingly personal, and sparks begin to fly.
The book is sweet, emotional, and spicy at turns. Tiffy and Leon felt real and realistic, richly drawn out and reasonably complex. Even their POV voices were well-crafted and thought out, Tiffy more chatty and Leon more blunt, shy, short. O'Leary draws on several classic romance tropes to build out a fun novel with truly compelling storylines about abuse and trauma, and with a distinctive and believable set of characters. The side storylines were as fascinating as the main ones (ex. whether Leon can track down the long-lost love, a fellow soldier, for a veteran before he passes away). Good stuff all around.
Content warnings for emotional abuse, stalking, trauma, death/grief.

“Oh, yeah, we mixed with lesbians. We always got along together back then. All that division between the lesbian women and queens came after 1974 when Jean O’Leary and the radical lesbians came up. The radicals did not accept us or masculine-looking women who dressed like men. And those lesbian women might not even have been trans. But we did get along famously in the early ‘60s. I’ve been to many a dyke party. And transgendered men back then were living and working. I met many who were working and living as men with their female lovers.”

Pushing my Chris Rodriguez has a fascination with monsters agenda (not like the thing between Luke and Kelli tho) and yes this is all based on that one line of his in Sea of Monsters.
Chris Rodriguez who adores animals, who has a fascination with monsters. Who kept trying to befriend the sentient ones. Who has a scrapbook he filled with all the things he learnt about them. Who knows the best way to end conflicts with them without getting eating or fighting, knows the regular wingspan Stymphalian birds, food preferences of empousai, the exact PH of various dragons acids and how their reactions. Who regularly went into Princess Andromeda's cargo hold to sketch the monsters and spent hours there. Who gifts spare scales, feathers and tusks he finds to Ethan and Alabaster.
Alabaster doodling runes on his scrapbook. Ethan adding in information about poisons. Chris keeping the photos of his friends in the same book. Even after Ethan dies. Even after for all he knows Alabaster hates him. Because he may have left the Titan army. Doesn’t mean his memories did too.
