Fun fact; Nyxia's magic was originally modeled after Chara's red knives in some other fanworks! However, I ended up shifting more to a focus of Russ being attack-based and Nyxia being defense-based.

MY REVIEW: 3/5 Stars

At first, I didn't really like this book. But once I had read about a third of it, WOW it really picked up and I had a hard time putting it down.

This science fiction novel is about a group of kids from Earth who are being shipped of to another world to mine a substance called Nyxia. As they travel to the new world, they are tested by the corporation called Babel to see if they are fit to join the expedition on the alien world. As the stakes get higher, the competition becomes more fierce. A very fun read!

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

The black cat would stare at the paws of his beloved, he was silent, very silent. You would ask him if he was okay but everytime you tried to, he'd shush you and tell that you don't need to speak when you are in this state. not yet at least.

As he neatly wraps the cloth of silked webs around your scarred hands, it only took him a deep breath to try and restrain himself from getting angry in front of you, no no he'll never show his anger to you. he can wait, he is very patient...

Narinder would finally ask, in the softest tone possible "who had dared to touch you?" You were scared to say, or rather, embarrassed. you made yourself as the tough one in this relationship, someone who Narinder could rely on for all the time he's spent alone but now you're showing how vulnerable you are and it's embarrassing, it brings that dreadful stinging feeling in your eyes.

As your eyes glisten with burning water, your face was cupped in gentle hands. you look up and see your beloved and he looks at you with the utmost care. "Please, oh little bird o' mine? please tell me who's done harm to you." he would ask, his tone showed no anger, only calm. You can't help but feel obliged to say the name, so you answer to his request. he would nod and softly kiss your patched paw before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a bell, as much as he'd hate to call upon the Lamb...he hated to see you in pain alone more, so he rings the bell and let's it's little chiming calls reach to the Lamb.

When the Lamb came and saw your condition they were unpleasantly surprised, unamused, but since Narinder was there to help you heal for at least a bit they were also relieved. "Lamb, watch over my beloved...I will have a...stern talk to someone, make sure my beloved will not be hurt." Narinder's voice requested of the Lamb calmly which was unexpected of him to do, in the Lamb's eyes at least.

Never the less, the one who wore their red cloth came towards you and started to check if there were any more injuries whilst Narinder walks out of the tent. His head is filled with ideas, many ideas. maybe he can rip his spine out? or blow his head out? maybe a public execution?

whatever it is, the members will fear him more than they should have.

More Misty Woods stuff:

Nyxia technically legally owns the property. Technically. Shenanigans were involved in that coming to be seeing as she didn’t previously have a birth certificate.

They dont have an oracle or missions that they do. Most of them just live there full time. Some do leave once they hit 18-20, but they’re welcome to stay as long as they want. Nyxia is currently the oldest resident at 24.

Mythological heritage doesn’t effect status or lodgings, rather age does. The younger you are, the lower in the silo your room is (with a couple older kids/young adults to help guard and care for the little ones)

Exceptions include infants (not too common) and those with disabilities that would prevent them from climbing the silo. Those exceptions have lodgings in the farm house as it has better baby-proofing and disability access. The nymphs who raised Nyxia help out with the littlest ones

The three oldest on the property (Nyxia, Jamison, and Penny) take turns keeping watch from the top of the silo at night where they can survey the upper part of the property.

In edition to the farmhouse, barn, and Silo, there’s also a garden plot and some apple trees in front of the house, and they do have a larger field where they grow different crops that they rotate each year. Theres also a creek running down to a small lake on the property.

They dont have any mythical animals (yet! Nyxia is trying to change that), but they do have a few normal ones! They’ve got chicken hutch, a couple dogs, a barn cat, and two horses.

Theres plenty of woodland on and surrounding the property as well, so whatever they dont grow or raise themselves, they can hunt or forage. Though they DO make trips into town for other food and supplies, they’re largely self sufficient.
