my two page illustrations for @pokepocketzine !! with my first piece i wanted to try to emulate those watercolour illustrations of rabbit burrows, like something you might see in a childrens book, and my second piece was very self-indulgent as i'd been very excited for the Kamen Rider bug pokemon since the rumors were going around before scarvi came out. this project has been such a joy to work on and if you missed sales you can still get the books and merch from our leftover sales here (link) until July 31 !!!

[ID: the first image is a digital illustration in a mock-watercolour style. it shows the cross-section of a burrow beneath of bed of daisies with two Drilbur, one larger in its normal colours and a much smaller shiny, sleeping inside. the shiny sleeps on top of the larger one, and a daisy has fallen into their home and rests on top of them. the colours are very warm.

Why are baby nymble so small I love them so much but my friend thinks they look Like lost AirPods.

there are a lot of advantages to being so small when you belong to a type that's often targeted by other pokemon for food! being small makes it easier to hide from predators, means you need less energy to feed yourself (very important when you have to molt several times as you grow), and gives the distinct advantage that you can lay lots and lots of eggs to ensure that at least a few survive to reproductive age. for a pokemon that moves around and protects itself by jumping really high, it also helps to not be so big that you're constantly hitting yourself on things above you.

thankfully, unlike airpods, they're able to jump a height of about 5m straight up into the air, so it's a lot harder to lose them.
