How about some yandere platonic mother Miriam from pokemon Scarlet/Violet, preferably with a son reader? If you haven't played gen 9 yet, then instead of Miriam it can be Nurse Joy :3
Imagine
Yan!Mum!Nurse Joy with a son
Plot Summery: Some platonic yandere headcanons for Nurse Joy with her son This Contains: Drug-related themes. Yandere themes. Unhealthy mindset. Maternal dependency. Note(s): wasn't sure if you wanted multiple ot just one, so I did one. Hope you like!
Nurse Joy is a generally kind and caring person, but this is especially true for her son. She absolutely loves you and is more then eager to pass on the family traditions of nursing and medicines to you!
She'll be a smothering mother, especially if you're eager to become a pokemon nurse. Seeing how much you learn from her and adopt similar mannerisms to her, have her heart soaring high. And she can't help but to give you a good hug and be so, so proud of her little boy! No doubt you'll also get your own healing-related pokemon too (likely a Blissy/Chancy you raised from an egg)
You're the apple of not only her eye, but all your other relatives as well. Your aunties, cousins, and nieces are all one big smothering and doting family; they always fret and dote on you, always making sure you're healthy and happy and always smothering you in presents and more. They can extremely overwhelming, and don't expect your mother to step in. No, she's joining in.
Wanting to become a pokemon trainer and/or traveling pokemon nurse will be very difficult to do with Yan!mom Joy down your neck. She's a huge worrywart, and is quick to remind you of the many dangers and threats that exist out there -- not just of pokemon, but of people too! She's not above guilt-tripping either; she'll remind you that she needs your help, here, at the pokemon center. She says she'll be extremely lonely without you, and how stressed being a nurse can be.
If she's really, really pushed, I could see her drugging you just to make sure you don't try and leave. Maybe even lock you up. It wouldn't last for too long, but she won't feel guilty for it. She's on the delusional spectrum somewhere, and genuinely believes that what she does is for your own benefit.
But if you do manage to her to let you go, then be prepared for the amount of guilt she's going to cause. On the day you're to leave, she's going to be holding you close, telling you to always call her and that if anything happens, you can always come home. She's doing everything she can to hold herself together as you leave. When you're gone, she does nothing but sob her eyes out. Yes, Nurse Joy is emotionally dependent on her baby, and she's a wreck for quite awhile.
Constant calls, regular updates. And for sure she's going to use her familial connections to all the other Joys throughout the region to keep tabs on you. It'll feel like she's always there, always lingering.
Overall, Nurse Joy is a an intense but loving mother, who wants only the best for you... even if it means she can't be with you all the time. But know that she will always miss you if you so leave her, always waiting for you to return to her.
Please.. please come back home soon.

yo!,, idk if requests are open or not,,, but um if they are or when they are, is it possible 2 get a fluff and/or hurt/comfort fic involving Bain or Houston with a trans male s/o? there's not a lot of content for them and they're my fave characters,, ty!,,
insert cries in trans-masc but presents as fem that aside , i haven’t made much houston content so i’m gonna give that one a shot . keep it mind that it might be ooc because i still have yet to master writing his character lmao also this one is gonna be a bit shorter than usual because it's almost 1 am here and oh my god i wanna sleep but also write at the same time grahhh
Procedure - HOUSTON X TRANS-MASC! READER
His footsteps echoed down the somewhat busy hall as he paced back and forth, one hand to his mouth as he chewed desperately on his nails whilst the other was behind his back, his fist clenched as he used every fiber of his being to not break down into full panic.
Never in Houston’s life would he come to face this moment, and even though it was one of many steps for your journey, he still was nervous anyhow. What if something goes wrong during the procedure? What if you don’t make it off the table? There were so many possibilities running through his head, it was hard to focus on something less terrifying.
He knew you were in the hands of professionals, and he knew that you were well prepared for this day both mentally and physically, but why was he so scared regardless? What seemed like forever of terror, he finally snapped out of it when someone was calling for his attention.
Snapping his head towards the source, Houston found himself standing across from a nurse, who had a calm smile on her face as she said:
“[Y/N] is finished with his surgery if you would like to see him no-“
“YES!” He paused for a moment, his cheeks tinged pink in em embarrassment as he coughed into his hand and repeated in a calmer manner, “Y-yes, I’d like to see him now please.”
It wasn't long before he found himself standing at the doorway of your room, seeing you staring blankly at your IV, and he could feel the waterworks starting to run. He was just so relieved that you were okay.
He did his best to keep a calm composure as he walked up to you, attempting to be gentle as he placed his hand on yours. His heart fluttered as your groggy eyes met his formerly-worried ones.
"Hey..." You mumbled, flashing him a warm yet tired smile. You still definitely were under a few effects of the anesthesia, but that didn't stop you from lightening the mood in the room. "Did...did I make it...? Did it work?"
"Y-yeah...it did." Houston nodded, watching as you looked down at your chest, your smile starting to widen as you brought your hands towards the aforementioned area.
"Th- I- It's gone..." You were starting to cry as your brain started to connect the dots. "They're gone I- I feel so- so light..."
Houston nodded, leaning down to kiss your tears away softly. Though they were tears of joy, he didn't want you wasting your energy like this. You two still had a long trip back to the safe house.
"Shh, don't cry, my lovebug. I don't want you to be too tired before we get home, okay?" He hummed, pressing another kiss to your cheek, smiling as you nodded gently. Houston was relieved you made it through, and he was most certainly excited knowing that you made it another step into your journey.

Hello! I’m not sure if your requests are still open but, if they are here you go! I wanted to ask if you could write me a request of Nagito Komaeda x a reader who is the ultimate Chess Master? I kinda wanted to imagine him falling in love or already dating his S/O who plays chess as a professional and is more on the kinder side when it comes to him. Good luck! 💖
Ooo! This is such a unique concept, and I absolutely love it! Writing it was an absolute joy! Thank you so much for the amazing request <3
Nagito Komaeda x Ultimate Chess Master Reader!
The ultimate nurse, the ultimate swords-woman, the ultimate photographer…everyone in this class seemed to posses such interesting talents. It made you feel quite jealous, in some sort of way.
Now, of course you never thought of your talent as boring, useless, or unnecessary in the slightest! After all, you were the Ultimate Chess Master. You believed that everyone should try chess at least once before inflicting their nasty opinions on the strategic game. Unfortunately, that was already too late when it came to…basically your entire school life.
In Elementary, you would ask the kids on the playground to play a quick game of speed chess, because you thought it was a fun way to spend time with friends! But all you got in return were child-built insults, saying that chess was stupid and boring. It’s quite ridiculous to admit, but those comments still float around your mind sometimes. Kids were harsh, still are…
In Middle School, you had a few close friends, and when you asked one of them to try playing a game of chess with you, all they did was look at you weirdly, a look that only seemed to scream “uh, are you serious?”. This was when you started to question your liking for chess. Was it that weird? Am I the only one my age that thinks that chess is actually a fun game?
Now, you were sitting in class at Hope’s Peak Academy, a school full of the elite, yet…
This was the first time you felt truly, whole-heartily ashamed about your love for the game of chess.
“Are you kidding me? Chess? You got into this school for an old-people game like CHESS!? Pfft-!” A girl in twin blonde pony tails and an orange kimono let out a shrill of laughter.
“An…old people game….?” You muttered to yourself, steadily becoming a little closed off from the rest of the class.
You’re love for chess was parallel to how you played, which was almost unbeatable on a professional level, yet…
Why were these comments crushing your heart? Why did it make your love for the game waver?
Class continued like normal, just a little lecture to start off the rest of our high school lives. You honestly weren’t paying attention, your focus more attentive to your little chess notebook, filing it with strategies you wanted to try against high-level computer AI.
Though, it would be nice to have even a complete beginner to play with every once and awhile, though, you might be asking for too much.
Thump
Great, more harassment.
You turned around slightly in your seat, and looked down at the ground it see a crumpled piece of notebook paper that had hit you in the back. You picked it up, and looked around to try and figure out a potential culprit, but it seemed as if everyone was acting normal. No dice, then.
Unfolding the messy ball of paper as quietly as possible, you read what seemed to be words written on the inside.
Meet me in the library today after school, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to be seen with trash like me
The wording on the letter was…strange, but that didn’t stop you from feeling a tiny firework of joy in your heart. Yet, you couldn’t help but feel more nervous than joyous due to how the letter was written. It was surely vague, but it really seemed like the writer as quite the low self esteem.
You were suspicious, but honestly, what could go wrong? It had to be someone from the class that you were just introduced to, so at least it’s not like a blind date sort of thing…
The more you thought about it, the more it actually seemed like a blind date. Nice.
Time seemed to move incredibly slow for the whole rest of the school day, but eventually, the bell had rung, and you were out the door in a heartbeat.
After a little while of asking for directions to the school library, you finally reached your desired location: An absolutely humongous cavern of probably any book one could think of.
Only a couple of students were residing in this literal book mansion, and none of which you recognized.
“I guess they’re not here yet…” You mumbled, sitting yourself by a large, lit fireplace. As the warmth from the flames licked your skin, steadily causing you to naturally relax all of the tensed muscles that were stuck to your bones.
You pulled out your phone, and automatically started a game of online chess with a random opponent. The game was done in a mere ten minutes. The other player was no doubt new to the game, but that’s ok, you were there once too.
You suddenly heard a subtle clunk next to you, making your gaze wander to that direction. It was that boy from your class, the lucky boy. You remember him clearly because you thought his hair resembled a fluffy cloud. The two of you made eye contact, his foggy green eyes squinting a bit when he smiled at you, warming your heart a smidge.
“Y/N L/N, correct? I hope you don’t mind my presence, though it’s ok if you do, I would never blame you on something that’s not your fault.” The thin male crouched down to take a seat on the floor with you, sitting cross-legged.
“Yep, that’s me…and I actually kind of appreciate the meeting, honestly. Even if you just came for simple company, I think that’s very nice of you, especially since everyone in the class already thinks my talent is boring and all…Nagito Komaeda, right? I’m happy to meet you.” You shot a warm smile to the boy, causing him to reciprocate.
“You’re too kind to such untalented scum like myself, all I have is the Devil’s luck, after all! I can’t even control any of it! So I’m glad someone like me can be used as a stepping stone for you to be a beacon of hope!” Nagito chuckled, humored by his own self loathing.
You flipped your whole body to face the living incarnate of a four-leaf clover, “Well, um, on a personal note, I don’t think you’re scum. At all. I think your talent is anything but boring…I also think you’re…quite kind, for hanging out with someone like myself.” Fiddling with your uniform sleeves in nervousness. You just want him to feel better about himself.
The boy went quiet, his smile dwindling from your comment. Was he not used to compliments?
After a few moments in silence, Nagito gazed into your eyes, a new type of smile prettily stitched onto his features. It was almost like this expression was more…vulnerable, uncovering itself under layers upon layers of facades. His face almost made you breath out a sigh of relief at how comforting and relieving his genuine expression was.
“I would like to play with you. I-If you would let me, of course.” Nagito gestured his hands downwards to the chess set he had placed onto the ground since the very beginning. And how did you not notice that? It may or may not be the fact that the boy in front of you seemed to be way more intriguing.
You’re eyes widened as sudden happiness started to flow through every vein within your body. The excitement washed over your soul, rejuvenating it’s prior state of melancholy dreariness. Was…he was serious, right?
“Really…?” Was all that you managed to squeak, causing the lucky student to tilt his head in wonder.
“Hm? Well, of course…I don’t really know who else I would be aski-“
“C-Can we please play speed chess!?” You sputtered, the passion and the fireplace flames reflecting off of your eyes to reveal in an enticing glow.
“Speed Chess?” Questioned the frizzy-haired boy, though he did seem quite interested at your sudden burst of energy.
“Yeah! It’s also commonly referred to as Blitz Chess, and it’s like chess, but you have a very short amount of time to make your moves! It’s super duper fun, and if you want even more fun, then we could also play Bullet Chess! It’s even faster, and a game only takes roughly three minutes if you…keep up…the…pace…” Your words started to get quieter and more mumbled. God, you totally forgot the two of you were in a library, how embarrassing….
A hearty laugh spilled out of Nagito’s mouth, the corners of his lips turning upward to the ceiling. You looked down in pathetic nature. That was totally something to laugh at…
“Though I would consider myself a newbie when it come to chess, speed chess sounds lovely.” Nagito smiled, his pointer finger playing and twirling around the queen piece’s crown.
“Ah, a-alright, well, lets get started, shall we?” You stuttered, with joy obviously evident within your voice.
. . .
Unsurprising to you, you had won all three games of speed chess against Nagito, though, it was surprising how close each game was. the more you thought about it, the more you realized his luck most likely aids him whenever he plays. Definitely one of the most interesting opponents you’ve been up against, whether it would be for casual online play, or in-person tournaments.
“Ah, bummer, I guess someone as useless as me shouldn’t even try to come close to beating you!” The boy ruffled his cloud-like locks, laughing at his loss.
“Hey! You had me worried for a few turns there, you were no pushover at all, Nagito!” You proclaimed, frustrated on why he would still think that, even thought the game results were all obviously pretty close.
“Also, please don’t say that your useless…it makes me really sad, because it’s not true at all.” You looked up at him with eyes that reflected something that had never burned so brightly before, and Nagito noticed.
Those eyes, previously clouded from the despair given from others, were now shining with a glimmering hope…and he drew that out from you…by simply playing a mere few games of chess.
For a moment, and only for a moment, he believed your words. Maybe he wasn’t so useless, he helped you find your smile and joy, right? Maybe…maybe…
“Oh yeah!” You shot up, causing Nagito to snap out of his thoughtful daze. You stuck your hand out to him, waiting for reciprocation.
“A handshake, to wish a good game among equals.” You encouraged the boy, wanting for him to fully indulge into what it was like to play the game in a professional, yet somewhat casual setting.
The boy looked at your hand, observing everything. Your nails, your fingertips, your knuckles, all the way down to your wrist. Equals, huh…
Nagito then slowly reached out to your hand, grasping onto it gently, yet it felt like it was the most comfortable fit he could’ve imagined. He wanted the warmth from your soft skin to seep into his cold hands, wanting that heat to slowly fill the rest of his frozen body, all the way up to his thawing heart. Though he didn’t linger any more on the handshake than he needed to, not wanting to make it uncomfortable for you.
But god, did he want to hold on forever.

Breathing - Aragorn x reader (modern!AU)
hi! could you do prompt #53 with a female reader and aragorn? thank you!
@elvish-sky oh joy, another sad aragorn fic (jk jk). i wanted to write this one as a modern!AU because of some research i was doing before school ended for science and ... i just thought of the concept and liked it, okay hush
53. “You said you were okay!”
Type: Imagine Pairing: Aragorn x reader (modern!AU) Summary: Y/N hasn’t been entirely honest with her boyfriend, Aragorn. Warnings: angst, sadness, death, Word Count: 1,704 words
Y/N laughed loudly as the black Newfoundland puppy chased its fluffy tail, the dark fur sticking up as though it had been struck by lightning.
Aragorn grinned at her, taking yet another long moment to watch her - to savour everything about his beautiful girlfriend. Just like every time she giggled, he wanted the seconds to last forever. He wanted every day he got to be with Y/N to last forever, because one day, they would be unable to make new memories.
One day sooner than he would like.
He tugged the sleeves of his RSPCA volunteer jacket down as he sat by her side, whistling for the dog to come and sit by his side. It obliged, just as all the animals in the shelter, or anywhere, always did.
Animal whisperer, Y/N would tease him. Like Doctor Dolittle!
Aragorn looked to her again, the smile still on Y/N’s face. Flushed s/c cheeks. Hooded e/c eyes with heavy bags under them, yet she still looked beauty. H/l messy h/c hair, kept out of her face by a f/c ribbon.
Then, the things people tended to stare at. The bag by her side, much like the wheeled kind some people used to shop. The nose cannula hooked behind her ears, a long tube carrying oxygen from the bag. A surgery scar protruding from her f/c shirt’s neckline.
Those things didn’t bother him. He loved her.
“Are you okay?”
Aragorn blinked at Y/N’s question. Normally he was the one asking her that question, or supposed to be. “I-I’m perfect.”
She smiled again. “That’s good.”
He stood, pulling her to her feet as well. “Come on. My shift’s up.”
Y/N jokingly pouted. “But the puppies!”
This time, it was Aragorn who laughed. “We’ll come back next week, I promise.”
“Next week,” she echoed, a sadness in her voice that her boyfriend didn’t detect.
---
Y/N coughed, making a face as the last of her pills went down her throat. She took dozens every day - it was part of her necessary, pre-determined hospital routine.
Her nurse, Legolas, (A/N - stan male nurses) passed her some water, which she gladly swallowed, hacking again.
“Good job,” he grinned. “Everything’s doing okay. Lung function is at 54 percent, a little lower than last week, but it will get higher again.”
She’d definitely expected that, though her heart still sunk.
“I’ll let your boyfriend in now.” Legolas laughed at the annoyed look on his charge’s face. The sound faded as he took on a more serious tone. “But, you remember that it could get even worse anytime, especially-”
“I know,” Y/N interrupted, her voice scratched and broken. “I know.”
“Be careful,” the nurse reminded her again, as he left the room, Aragorn passing through the door before it could even swing shut.
“Going alright?”
Y/N grimaced. “As well as can be expected. I hate my lungs.”
He took her hand, squeezing it tightly, like he would never, could never, let go. “I know you’re strong, Y/N/N. You can’t let CF beat you.”
Ah, yes. There it was - the casual reminder Y/N couldn’t go a day without hearing. Stressing how she was holding her life in an hourglass, which was rapidly running out of time.
Cystic Fibrosis. An often terminal lung condition, meaning Y/N’s lungs functioned at low percentages, causing difficulty in her breathing and weakened immune system. She was often lucky to spend more than a month out of the hospital, thought that hadn’t been the case recently.
She’d been continually relapsing, her lung function decreasing with every checkup.
To put it simply, it sucked. Royally.
“Here,” Aragorn offered her her nose cannula. “Hook up, and I’ll distract you.”
Y/N slipped it on, taking his hand and dragging her portable oxygen in The Granny Shopping Bag™️ with the other. smiling.
Well, at least, her mask was smiling. Inside, she didn’t know if she had the energy or will to anymore.
---
Y/N knew it was a risk, and she was exactly aware of the million and one ways this could go wrong.
But she didn’t care. She was going to live whilst she still could. She was done with giving up her life, letting down her boyfriend, because of some stupid mucus.
Besides, he didn’t know. He didn’t know it all, and she wasn’t going to stop them from being unable to make happy memories together by burdening him with more bad news. Being the protective guy he was, Aragorn probably wouldn’t even let her leave the hospital if her found out.
“Ready?” said-boyfriend-in-question asked.
“Hell yeah,” Y/N grinned, straightening the edges of her denim jacket.
They stood at the archway entrance to the Rivendell National Park - a beautiful wonderland of pale trees and swirling leaves, in the deep of autumn.
Technically, Y/N wasn’t meant to engage in ‘prolonged physical activity’. But technically, she wasn’t even meant to be alive right now.
No one, least of all her, knew how much time she had left. Y/N wasn’t one to waste it.
Together, she and Aragorn stepped through the archway, and explored the ‘whole new realm’.
---
After ten minutes, her lungs were burning, but she didn’t say anything.
Aragorn was looking so happy - a goofy smily affixed upon his face, his dark eyes lighting up as he swished his head from side to side to admire everything with childish wonder.
The National Park was beautiful, but the air was thin, and Y/N was struggling not to audibly struggle. She hated being dependent on people, and she would. Not. Worry. Him.
Something felt different this time - her breathing was quickening even though she was walking extraordinarily slowly, and she was in more pain than she should’ve been
Y/N signalled for Aragorn to stop, doubling over and coughing until her throat was raw. She couldn’t breathe whilst the mucus was crawling up her airways, and she’d rather clear it than suffer.
“Get it out, Y/N,” Aragorn encouraged her as she straightened, worry sketched all over his face.
Her coughing was done, and she went to take a nice big inhale, but ....
She.
Still.
Couldn’t.
Breathe.
Breathing should’ve been something natural, easy, if she had been just a normal young woman with her normal boyfriend.
She wished that lying didn’t come to her easier than breathing.
Y/N collapsed, choking, almost about to pass out as Aragorn immediately fell to her side, pulling his phone from his pocket and dialling an emergency number.
“Oh my God,” he gasped, his breaths coming shortly as well as he scooped her up into his arms. “Oh, God. Y-You’re going to be okay, Y/N.”
Funny how good they’d both become at lying.
With that thought, Y/N’s eyes fluttered shut, without the energy to keep themselves open.
“Y/N!”
---
Aragorn sat in the waiting room with a feeling like acid being poured down his throat and then regurgitated.
She shouldn’t have collapsed like that - it was highly medically improbable given what he knew about Y/N and her Cystic Fibrosis. Unless ... there was something he didn’t know.
He shook his head as soon as that thought came to him. He trusted Y/N. She trusted him. He had to have faith in her.
The sound of footsteps encouraged him to look sideways, where he saw Y/N’s nurse, Legolas, with four cups of coffee in his arms.
“Expecting someone else?” Aragorn laughed as he was handed one of the cups.
“Oh, no,” Legolas replied, with an unbelievably straight face. “I intend to drink all the coffee.”
“How is Y/N?”
The nurse winced. “I will be honest with you - she isn’t going so well right now. The fact that she was still walking with you ... that’s pretty amazing given her lung function and diagnosis.”
“What do you mean?” Aragorn furrowed his eyebrows. “She-she’s fine, isn’t she?”
Legolas stared. “Y/N didn’t tell you, did she? Oh, that stubborn little-”
“Tell me what?”
He averted Aragorn’s eyes. “Tell you that she was diagnosed with Burkholderia Cepacia and she was given another six months to live with her current lung function.”
“What?” All the air rushed out of his lungs, and suddenly, he knew how Y/N felt when it was hard for her to breathe. “H-How long has it been?”
Again, the blond looked awkwardly to the floor.
“How long?!” It was a shout this time, and Aragorn could feel himself on the brink of tears. His beautiful girlfriend, lost to the void ... he could not cope with it.
“Seven months.”
He fell back in his chair, coffee discarded, his shaking hands covering his face as his cheeks dripped with tears. This couldn’t be happening. This could not be happening.
A doctor rushed out from the ER, making a beeline for Legolas. Her nametag read ‘Tauriel’, her long red hair flying behind her as she ran towards them.
Her face was sober.
“He-he should come. Now.” She motioned towards Aragorn who stood immediately.
“Is Y/N alright?”
Dr. Tauriel did not answer his question, just motioning for him to follow her.
---
Y/N wasn’t moving. For such a joyful young woman, she was lying unbelievably still.
There was a crowd of doctors around her, but they all moved back at the sight of Aragorn.
“I’m sorry.”
He didn’t know who said it ... all he could think about was how much paler Y/N looked than her normal s/c.
“She-she’s just a-asleep, r-right?” Aragorn stuttered on the words as more tears fell down his face. “Y/N’s o-okay?”
Dr. Tauriel shook her head. “I’m so sorry. We-we couldn’t do anything.”
“You said you were okay!” Aragorn cried, talking to Y/N even though she couldn’t hear him - would never hear him again. Jut like he would never hear her. “You told me you were okay ...”
“Get him out of here,” someone said quietly, and Aragorn was pulled to the door.
He threw one final look over his shoulder.
Y/N’s hair was spread out over the pillow. Her hands had been folded over her chest. She still had her nose cannula in, but that had never made her less beautiful.
Even in death, she still looked like an angel.
She was still the most beautiful person Aragorn had ever known.
A/N - guys this is my new favourite fic so please spread it! @elvish-sky thank you so much for this request, and everyone, thank you for reading!

Kiss Me Better
Universe: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Timeline: Post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Character(s): Sam Wilson
Pairing(s): Sam Wilson x Male Reader
Warning(s): swearing, completely inaccurate medical procedures because im not a doctor and 16 y/o
Summary: You were injured on a mission and in order to stave off infection, you have to get a shot...
OLD A/n from over a month ago: I got shots at the doctors probably a week ago (and I'm just now finishing this because frickin executive dysfunction kicked my ass). I don't have a bf/gf in real life to kiss me better, but I can always pretend with fanfiction. Enjoy
NEW A/n from right now: shit it’s been a long time huh? yeah, this was supposed to be uploaded over a month ago but for some reason I just... didn’t put it up. Idk, I think I was going through some shit so I wasn’t interested in anything at all and I was super unmotivated. Anyway, I finally got it up. Hope you all enjoy :)
“Sam!” you say his name with joy. The pain coursing through out your body isn’t enough to keep you from throwing your arms around your boyfriend as soon as he’s close enough to where you sit on the plain white bed in the SHIELD medbay.
You wrap your arms around him and squeeze as hard as you can without causing pain to shoot up your arms from your injuries. Sam returns the favor and hugs you close to his chest. You can’t help but wince when he unknowingly presses into a large bruise stretching across your stomach, but you don’t want the hug to end so you try to hide it. Sam obviously sees right through you and let’s go, although he doesn’t stop touching you. Sam’s hands rest on your arms gently, trying not to press on the bruises and cuts that are covered in bandages.
“Don’t ‘Sam’ me. You are an absolute moron,” Sam tells you, pointing a finger. Your mouth falls open in offense and try to say something but he interrupts you. “Did you think jumping in the line of fire was really your only option?”
“...Well, it seemed like the only option at the time.”
“Jesus,” Sam swears. “You are just as bad as Steve.”
“I am not nearly–”
“Don’t you dare try to deny it,” he tells you. He reaches up with his hand and shuts your mouth for you. “You know it's true,” Sam says it without judgement, like he knows how much people’s lives mean to you.
“Agent L/n,” SHIELD Doctor Vivienne Becker is suddenly standing next to you. She addresses you with a comfort as if talking with an old friend. Or maybe with exasperation of talking to an annoying younger sibling.
“Vivienne,” you greet back with a much lighter tone than her. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“I wish I could say the same,” Dr. Becker says, “but you're covered in contusions, lacerations, and just had two bullets removed from your femur and scapula.”
You tense when you feel Sam shift next to you, feeling his gaze on the side of your face. You aren’t even looking at him and you just know that his eyebrows are raised in scorn. “Oh, so you were shot, too?”
“Uh.”
“Fortunately, there was no damage done to any vital organs or major arteries.”
“Well, at least that,” Sam mumbles.
“However,” Dr. Becker interrupts pointedly, “there was foreign residues found on the bullets that were designed to attract special bacteria.”
You sigh. “And now it’s in my blood.”
“Correct and we’ve figured out how to neutralize the effects, but…”
“‘But’?” you wonder, whining. “‘But’? No, why ‘but’, Vivienne?”
“But,” Dr. Becker continues, “the treatment is in the form of a syringe.”
You suddenly sit up straight. “A shot?!” you scream, eyes going wide.
“A shot?” Sam wonders completely cluelessly. “What’s wrong with a shot?”
“It is one shot and it will be injected into your right shoulder,” Dr. Becker informs you before walking away to let you wallow in self pity.
You groan and throw your head back because fucking goddamn it, this would be your luck. A shot right when you get back off the field.
“What’s wrong with a shot?” Sam wonders again. You sigh heavily and took at Sam with your eyebrows raised. He looks at you blankly for a few seconds before he breaks out into a smile. Sam aws at you, causing you to purse your lips. “Are you afraid of shots, baby?”
You click your tongue and say, “Sam,” while growing more annoyed with his sugar sweet smile.
You ignore him (whether it’s because you love him or because you have no idea how to respond to his question, you don’t know), deciding instead to work out some stress by looking at anything other than the needles that seemed to be everywhere you look now.
Sam actually has to reach over and stop you from wringing your hands dry. “Come one now, baby,” he untangles your hands and intertwines one of yours with his. You aren’t able to help just melting under his smooth and caring voice. “It’s just one shot, it won’t be that bad.”
You hum doubtfully, squinting your eyes at him but squeeze his hand harder. “I hate shots,” Sam nods understandingly. “Shots suck. Shots can go fuck–”
You don’t get a chance to finish your rant because Dr. Becker walks back over to you and wonders, “Are you ready?”
Taking a deep breath and releasing it, you squeeze Sam’s hand to reassure yourself. “I suppose,” Dr. Becker doesn’t say anything, turning to grab the syringe. You bite your lip to steal yourself.
“Hey,” Sam says softly. You look at him and he shows you your interlocked hands. “Here, you can squeeze my hand to help you through it.”
“You sure?” You crack a smile, feigning hesitation. “I might break your hand.”
Sam hums dismissively. “I’m sure I can bear it.”
Dr. Becker turns back to you with a syringe in her hand. You tense at the sight of it but Sam moves closer, the warmth of Sam’s body on your leg enough for you to let go of your lip.
Dr. Becker pinches your arm and starts to inject you. Your face contorts and you wince in pain. While you’ve been punched, kicked, stabbed, and shot many times, it doesn’t make this any easier. You have to squeeze Sam’s hand as hard as your weakened state allows you. And it may be a bit of an ego boost but Sam winces from your grip.
In reality, it only takes about ten seconds but to you, it feels like a lifetime before Dr. Becker pulls the needle out. “Alright, all done,” she tells you, putting a bandaid where the dot of blood is. “The medicine should take effect immediately, so you need to rest up as much as possible. You can get your crutches from Nurse van Wieren when you’re ready,” she tells you and then leaves.
You look up at Sam to see him with a small smile on his face, looking back at you. “What?”
“Now, was that so bad?” he asks you.
“Yes,” you conclude firmly. You watch Sam try to hold back his smile, but failing miserably. You click your tongue at him, half heartedly hitting him in the chest. “I’m serious. Feels like a rod going through my arm.”
Sam chuckles but says, “Sorry, it’s just…” Sam shrugs. “I didn’t know that about you.”
He says it warmly. It reminds you of the first time you two had met almost a year ago when Sam had tested your name on his tongue right in the middle of HYDRA 2.0. You and Sam exchanged phone numbers right after the whole mess had been cleaned up.
“You know now,” you tell him. “So what?”
Sam shakes his head. “So nothing. I like learning new things about you, even almost a year into our relationship,” and isn’t that the sweetest goddamn thing? You are the luckiest guy in the world. Sam’s tone goes comically serious. “No, seriously… you want me to kiss it better?”
“Shut up,” You blush. “And help me down,” Sam smiles, holding out his arms for you to grab. You put a hand on his shoulder, balancing yourself. Wincing as you shimmy your way off the bed, you favor the leg that didn’t have a bullet in it.
“You okay?”
“I’m fine,” you tell him, “thank you.”
“It’s no problem, baby,” Sam coos while gripping onto you. “And be prepared because I’ve got a special dinner waiting for you when we get home.”
You snort and scrunch your nose. “Dinner? It’s 10 o’clock.”
“Then, it’s a midnight snack,” Sam tells you sassily.
“It’s not midnight, either.”
“Humor me.”
You sigh. “Fine, it’s a late dinner snack.”
“Alright, then,” Sam concedes. “Let’s go.”
Nurse van Wieren hands you your crutches as you and Sam leave the medbay. You smile and thank him before he walks away.
Sam’s words finally hit you as you get into the hallway. “Wait, waiting for me? How did you know I was coming home today?” you question, grabbing your boyfriend’s attention. You watch as Sam’s face begins to flush. You squeal. “Oh my god! Did you make SHIELD tell you where I was?”
Sam doesn’t respond for a few seconds before, “...Maybe.”
“Aw,” you coo, causing Sam to scoff.
“Yeah, don’t let it go to your ego, L/n.”
“No, but you have to tell me,” you tell him, stepping into the elevator before Sam does. You stand side by side, staring at each other with matching grins on your faces. “Is this special treatment reserved for me alone… or do you keep tabs on Steve and Nat, too?” as you expected, Sam doesn’t answer and you can’t hide your laugh. “That’s sweet,” you praise. “I might just have to tell Steve and Nat about it.”
“Don’t you dare!” Sam warns, though the smile on his face doesn’t disappear.
“I won’t, I won’t,” you agree without a second thought. “I know Steve would be indignant for about a week and who knows what the hell Nat would do to you,” you and Sam share a laugh, Sam’s gaze falling to the floor while you continue to stare at him because god, you love that deep, breathy laugh he does. You feel like you’re a goddamn king everytime you manage to get even a single giggle out of your boyfriend.
“Hey,” you say, grabbing Sam’s attention. He turns to you, looking extra adorable with his hands in his pockets and that tooth rotting smile on his face. “I think I might take you up on that offer to kiss me better.”
This causes Sam to hum smugly, his grin growing bigger and even more sugary. “Really?” Sam says slowly while he places his hands on your arms, rubbing up and down tenderly. He’s obviously being careful of your wounds. Noticing this single detail about Sam and how he is around you, you’re struck with how much you love this man standing in front of you.
Sam places a chaste kiss right over your bandaid before he rests his chin on your shoulder. “I love you,” he whispers against your skin. You feel your heart grow warm at his words.
“I love you, too,” you breath. “Now, let’s go home so you can kiss me better. And before dinner gets cold.”
