Kaeven:

A really underrated gem. Both are highly intelligent and silver-tongued, bouncing off of each other really entertainingly whenever they share a cutscene. Both are torn between their love for Mondstadt's people and another party- Khaenri'ah for Kaeya, Celestia for Venti- that hangs over their connections with others like a guillotine, having the potential to barge back into their lives and force them to choose a side at any time. Both know what it's like to keep fundamental parts of yourselves secret from almost everyone, knowing everything could change if people find the skeletons in your closet. They may be tense about each other for now, dancing around the elephant in the room even though they both know the other knows their deal, but if they opened up to each other more they might realise how much they have in common. We still don't know what Venti did in Khaenri'ah 500 years ago but I highly doubt he had a choice in the matter, nor did Kaeya have a choice in being sent to Mondstadt as a spy. There would be something poetic in them choosing each other instead.

They're opposites on the surface but have much, much more in common than you'd first assume when you dig into them further, and as the millennia-old archons of friendly neighbouring countries they have a long, complicated history with each other. As the only remaining members of the original Seven, and likely having been through Khaenri'ah's fall together, they might be able to understand and support each other better than anyone else ever could. The surface level differences give them great comedic potential as well. They work great as a straightforward ship, a bitter divorced couple in the background of other ships, a mess that oscillates between them, or a pair of oblivious fools who've been ignorant of the other requiting their feelings for thousands of years. What's not to like?
