You know, as the concept of “zombifying fungi” becomes more and more popular, I notice it still referred to everywhere as like a “brain parasite.” So I guess a lot of people overlooked or forgot how in 2019 it was discovered that cordyceps and other similar fungal parasites leave the brain and nervous system completely untouched. They only control the muscles. They use chemical signals to make the muscles flex in real time where they want to go :)

numba 4: neck kisses for my sister wife!

“No, listen, Eddie, it’s our first Halloween as a couple, so that means it has to be perfect.”

Eddie sighs, taking in the costume with resignation. It’s not that he minds dressing up -- he doesn’t, not at all. To the contrary, he actually enjoys dressing up, he does -- it’s just that the costume Buck had picked was, well. “And me dressing up as --”

Buck pokes his head out of the bathroom, glaring. “Yes. It’s a classic. Put it on.” He disappears back into the bathroom, and Eddie sighs, but starts tugging the pieces of the costume on.

“Do I have to wear the teeth?”

“I’m not dignifying that with a response,” Buck replies from the bathroom, and Eddie resists the urge to roll his eyes. Barely. “You know, horror movies and queerness go way back, which is why Halloween is like gay Christmas,” he says as he comes out of the bathroom, face covered in white paint. Eddie’s heart gives a familiar-by-this-point squeeze.

Falling in love with Buck was easy, and it was less of a one-time thing and more of an everyday occurrence. He is in love with Buck - it’s active, something living under his ribcage. He doesn’t think it’s possible to love him more, and then he comes out of the bathroom in white face paint and plastic teeth, infodumping about the queer origins of horror movies and, by extension, Halloween, and he falls in love with him all over again.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” the words are a little distorted through the plastic vampire fangs, but Buck’s smiling, his eyes soft.

“Because, you idiot, I’m in love with you,” Eddie says with an eyeroll, “and you and Chris are the only two people I’ll dress up for anymore.”

He’d dressed up as the wolfman last year, partially out of obligation to the 118, and partially because he thought, maybe, if he dressed up, it would bring Chris back. The dressing up hadn’t brought Chris back to LA, but Chris had returned to LA anyway, a month later.

Buck’s face splits into a grin, wide enough that the plastic teeth threaten to pop out. He presents Eddie with his own pair of plastic fangs, and Eddie sighs, looking down at them. “It’s going to be hard to kiss you with these in,” he says, raising his eyebrows, like did you think about that.

“Ah,” Buck says, adopting a truly terrible and mildly offensive approximation of a vaguely eastern european accent. “But not to suck your blood,” he says, resting his hands on Eddie’s shoulders, pressing the plastic fangs against Eddie’s neck.

Eddie rolls his eyes. “Pretty sure you can’t suck another vampire’s blood,” he says, but then the plastic fangs are gone, replaced with Buck’s lips, which are warm and soft and -- “If you’re getting white paint all over my neck,” Eddie says, but the words are a little breathy, and lose their impact a little bit. 

Buck drags his lips down the inside of Eddie’s neck, pressing soft kisses to the skin, down to his collarbones and then up, nosing behind Eddie’s ear. “What are you going to do about it?” the terrible accent is gone. So are the plastic teeth, and Buck’s lips are back on Eddie’s neck, warm and soft. There’s a challenge in the words, and Eddie laughs, a little breathless, turning to face Buck.

“Might have to return the favor,” he says, and Buck grins. There’s a very clear patch of smeared white paint around Buck’s mouth, and Eddie has the sneaking suspicion that there’s a matching smear of white paint on his neck. He steps a little closer to Buck, and leans in, slowly. They’ve been a couple since January - ten months - and Eddie still sometimes forgets that he can do this whenever he wants to, just because he wants to. Something about Buck still sometimes feels a little too bright, like Eddie can’t look directly at him. He leans in, breathes Buck in, pressing a kiss to the space just under his jaw, right over where his pulse jumps. Down. Down. Sucking a mark into the place his neck meets his shoulder. Sinking his teeth into the muscle there, and licking over the hurt.

Buck makes a very quiet noise, and Eddie knows they’re going to be late to the Halloween party - if they go at all. He looks up at Buck, at the smeared white paint, at Buck’s eyes, a little hazy with want. Something kicks in Eddie’s stomach. 

“Halloween parties are overrated,” Eddie says. 

Buck agrees.

IM HERE IM HERE!!! My lateness can be excused by the heat exhaustion I suffered😔 Which, honestly, makes me wonder if these boys are always sunburnt? Especially Ghost, we KNOW that poor guy is paler the paper. (It’s okay Simon, me too.) Also with all that gear on how do they NOT suffers from heat exhaustion and heat stroke??

I feel like I say this every chapter but this is my favorite chapter yet😭 It’s just so heartbreakingly beautiful. You can tell they care for her so much and their just big brutes who don’t know how to show their feelings and emotions.

NOW EVERYONE LISTEN WHEN I SAY I BELIEVED IN JOHN THE ENTIRE TIME🫵🏻🫵🏻 My John Price cares too much about his crew and now reader is apart of that and he cares for her. But he’s a emotionally stunted man like the rest of crew I fear.

ghost had to have a painful backstory, let’s be honest. and i didn’t even include the whole thing yet. there’s more, and it involves how him and price met as well as more graves, obviously (fuck him btw). i’m so fucking excited for it u have no idea, this man has suffered and i like writing broken men so i tried going all out with it because it’s fun ✊🏻

I hope this isn’t super unsolicited but I’ve been following you for a LOONG time and I always thought u were just anither artist that has been non-stop dedicated to their craft since they were a kid but reading ur pinned shocked me to my core 😭😭 You’re so good what!! Do you have any tips for a beginner artist that starts later in life (i’m 22) like what kind of tutorials to watch or how to study? you’re my #1 inspo when it comes to artstyle

OMG this is soooo touching really! The best feeling is to inspire others and honestly, you are making me tearing up😭😭 Yea, I'm on the beginning of my journey only, and I'm trying to observe everything I see to grow as fast as possible, since I lost pretty damn much years aswell. But to cheer you up a little, I believe that the older you get, the easier it is to learn, since you understand many things better. So what would I suggest so far and what I'm doing myself: 1. Rule numba one - observing. Literally. Become a sponge and soak up information as if your life depended on it. The thing is that in drawing, as in almost all crafts, OBSERVATION is very important. Your brain needs to get information from somewhere on how and what to do, it cannot generate from 0. And this means that your task is to fill it with information. What I advise is to collect drawings of everyone you like, no matter how cool they are. Watch speedpaintings, surround yourself with creativity, so that you slowly remember all sorts of little things. Speedpaintings are a treasure trove, you will unconsciously remember other people's ready-made solutions and make them in the future. 2. The second piece of advice is to try to repeat other people's work for learning purposes. This technique is also used in graphic design. You see the finished result - try to come to it. It doesn't matter that it won't turn out the same, but try to look at every detail and figure out how to achieve it, this will help in your own future works. 3. The third piece of advice is anatomy and fundementals. Yea-yea, it's boring, I always want to get to the fun part faster too. But literally in my last work I laughed at myself, like: "Wow, I literally draw simple shapes in the body and just smooth out the corners to make it more natural. You need to learn shapes." 4. It will probably take me a million points, so I will make this the last one as the main advice - references. Remember, your head cannot generate solutions from nowhere, so use references!! The more you draw, the more will be stored in your head and in the future you will be able to come up with everything yourself, but now, it is important to repeat what already exists. Photos are a must have! Other people's drawings - only in general, details and not a complete work. For example, I have not yet figured out how I want to draw noses - I go to see how my favorite artists do it and learn from them. And here I do not know how to paint clothes, I go and collect a collage of clothes that others do and try to understand how they came to this. 5. Last advice will be practical. Anatomy book that saving my ass - https://anatomy4sculptors.com/ Youtubers - NIRO, Pikat, Proko, Angel Ganev. Main advice - References are the most important part. Preparing for an art is important. Practicing all the time - is important. And HAVE FUN! Drawing should be FUN, it's not routine, there are lots of ways to make the process fun. :) Hope it helps! Question, do you have any tips for when I get low motivation? You seem like someone who generally has a lot of high energy and motivation so I need to know-

NUMBA ONE!!!!: Make sure its smomehtign that you ENJOY doing even just a tiny bit because u will never ever catch me willingly do for example. math. 

NUMBA TWO !!!: Even if u DO gotta do something yucky like math FIND A PERSON! literally any person because EVERYTHING is better with people yk! like when akaashi’s with me i dont have to cry into my pillow because i cant do 8 times 4 BECAUSE HE’S GOT MY BACK!! 

OOH ANDDD

Whenever i get a question right akaashi gives me one bite of this REALLY REALLY GOOD yakiniku from this deilciousos restaurant and then I’m like HYEAHHH!!!!!! fire emoji and all pumped up and get the next question wrong because i’m too hyper but THE POINT IS!!!

TREAT URSELF! BRIBE URSELF! because its not always feels so nice to finish something yucky and have some YUMMY YAKINIKU WAITING FOR U!! even if ur generally a low energy person like cough tsukki cough there’s always that one thing that makes u internally jump up and down in joy!! 😎
