Current hyper fixation: tons of crushed ice in a big 40oz cup, squeeze 1/4 of a lemon, crush up some mint leaves, a couple glugs of lemonade and strong freshly brewed green tea. Mix all together and 😍
Todays green tea is one called Bangkok which has notes of lemon grass, coconut, vanilla and ginger and it’s next level good.

How to Choose the Perfect Ice Maker for Your Home or Business
Are you constantly running out of ice during your summer gatherings, or is your business struggling to meet the ice demands of customers? Choosing the right ice maker is easier than you think, and with the right guidance, you can find the perfect model that meets your needs without the overwhelm. Whether you're stocking up for a cozy home party or managing a bustling bar or restaurant, selecting the best ice maker machine doesn't have to be complicated. Let’s break down the steps and explore how to pick the ideal ice maker for both residential and commercial settings.
1. Understand Your Ice Needs
The first step in selecting the perfect ice maker machine is understanding how much ice you need. Ice makers come in various sizes and production capacities, so determining your ice requirements is crucial. For home use, a small or medium-sized unit can usually produce enough ice for regular use. On the other hand, businesses—like restaurants, bars, or cafes—require larger, more robust models to keep up with high-volume demand.
2. Types of Ice Makers
There are different types of ice making machines to choose from, each catering to different needs and preferences. Here are some common ones:
👉 Portable Ice Makers: These are compact and ideal for smaller spaces, such as kitchens or home bars. They produce small batches of ice and are great for occasional use.
👉 Under-Counter Ice Makers: Perfect for households or businesses that need a steady supply of ice without taking up too much space, under-counter models are installed beneath countertops and can produce large amounts of ice.
👉 Commercial Ice Machines: Designed for heavy-duty use, these ice makers are built to handle high volumes of ice production. If you're running a business, this is the type you’ll likely need.
Understanding the type of ice you need—whether it's crushed, cubed, or nugget ice—is also a key factor. For instance, nugget ice is favored in healthcare and some foodservice businesses, while solid cubes might be more suitable for bars and restaurants.
3. Capacity and Ice Production Rate
Ice makers vary greatly in their production capabilities, so knowing how much ice you need is vital. Ice making machines typically list their production rate in pounds per day. For home use, a machine producing 25-50 pounds per day is usually enough, but for high-demand environments, you may need a machine that produces several hundred pounds of ice per day.
Be sure to consider both the daily ice production rate and the storage capacity. Many machines have a built-in storage bin that can hold a specific amount of ice before needing to be emptied or replenished. If your business has high-volume demands, opt for a model with a larger storage capacity to minimize refills.
4. Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is an important factor to consider, especially for businesses looking to save on utility costs. Look for an ice maker machine with Energy Star certification, as these models are designed to use less energy and water while still delivering high-performance results. Over time, the savings on electricity bills can make a significant difference, making energy-efficient models a wise investment for both home and business use.
5. Maintenance and Ease of Cleaning
The longevity of your ice maker depends on how well you maintain it. Ice makers require regular cleaning to prevent the buildup of mold and bacteria, especially in humid environments. Choose an ice maker that offers easy-to-clean features, such as removable parts and self-cleaning functions. Some models also come with built-in filters that help reduce maintenance requirements.

6. Noise Level
If you’re installing an ice making machine in a quieter environment, like a home or office, consider its noise output. Some machines can be quite loud, especially when producing large quantities of ice. Look for units that feature quieter compressors or those designed specifically for noise reduction to ensure minimal disruption.
7. Brand and Reliability
Investing in a high-quality, reliable ice maker is essential. Look for reputable brands known for producing durable machines. If you’re unsure where to start, consider exploring Ice Machine Solutions at https://icems.com.au/, which offers a wide range of ice makers suited for both home and business needs. Their extensive selection ensures that you can find the ideal model, whether you're looking for compact, space-saving units or larger commercial-grade machines.
Conclusion: Make the Right Choice for Your Ice Needs
Choosing the right ice maker machine for your home or business may seem like a daunting task, but with the right information, it’s simpler than expected. By considering your ice production needs, space limitations, and long-term usage, you can easily select a model that will meet your demands and provide years of reliable service.
Whether you’re a homeowner in need of occasional ice or a business owner looking for a consistent supply to serve your customers, the right ice maker will make your life easier. My Obsession with Small Kitchen Appliances
Not long ago, I had a pinch me moment…
I opened my computer and saw an email from QVC asking if I was interested in collaborating!! Of course, right away, I replied “YES”!
For some reason, I never thought about shopping online with QVC, but it’s so amazing! They literally have anything and everything you could possibly imagine!
My assignment was to do a culinary post (right up my alley) and I was so onboard for coming up with something fun and fabulous for the holidays using small (ish) kitching appliances from the QVC website! I decided on a pizza oven (not exactly indoor), a Kitchenaid Mixer, a nugget icemaker and a combination Convection/Air Fryer countertop appliance from Ninja for my post. Keep scrolling…
I truly love what I do and when something like working with QVC comes along, I get so excited and then…I get nervous! I want to do a great job and come up with something unexpected and this time, I think I nailed it! I spent almost an entire day wrapping boxes as background props because it’s just not time to decorate for Christmas and I knew I could stash them in the basement to use later.
I know some influencers are already in full blown holiday mode and that’s fine, but I do like to take one holiday at a time if possible. My solution was to wrap lots of boxes and store them in the basement to use again as props for pictures, etc. (this is the life of an influencer).
The boxes looked amazing and now it was time to come up with how to display the products without actually making videos of using each one because that would have taken way too long and a reel can only last 90 seconds.
I choose to demonstrate only trusted brands such as Frigidaire, Kitchen Aid and Ninja. The small air fryer I currently use is by Ninja and I’ve totally loved it and I’ve had my Kitchenaid Mixer for over 30 years now…so I knew these brands would live up to their reputation and I felt comfortable promoting them.
I’ve been wanting a pizza oven for as long as I can remember, and when we remodel our kitchen in 2024, we’re planning to build one outside, but for now, this one from Ninja is amazing! Itt does so much more than make pizza…you can roast anything, including a 12 pound turkey. It does comes with a cookbook filled with fabulous and easy recipes and just looking through it makes me hungry!
Now on to the Convection/Air Fryer from Ninja…
While I do love my small Ninja Air Fryer, sometimes it’s just a little too small! I would much prefer to cook everything in one batch to cooking multiple batches…especially when I’m making chicken tenders for my grandsons! This oven is a combination convection oven/air fryer so you can make muffins and casseroles and you can also air fry anything! It’s really such a great appliance that it may just replace your oven…especially if you’re an empty nester and are now only cooking for two people!
Having said that, I’m not sure if I’ll ever get used to cooking for two, but there are many nights when this Ninja Airfryer/Convection oven would make my life so much easier!
The Frigidaire Nugget Ice Maker…
These little chewable nugget ice makers are all the rage right now and everyone wants one (including my 3 son-in-laws). This one from Frigidaire is compact, quiet and makes up to 44 pounds of ice in 24 hours. It’s so convenient and makes any drink taste better! Before I got my nugget ice maker, I used to keep a bag of ice from Sonic in the freezer, but now, I have this ice on demand and it’s fabulous!
The Kitchenaid Mixer…
As I said above, I’ve had my Kitchen Aid mixer for over 30 years and it still works just as well as it did the day I got it! Back then, it only came in white, but now, you can get these mixers in so many different colors and I’m loving this stainless steel one that matches any decor. Every cook needs a Kitchenaid mixer…it’s the gold standard of mixers. The attachments are universal…I purchased the pasta maker attachment not long ago and it fit my “antique mixer”. My youngest daughter Sarah has my mothers mixer and it’s even older than mine and still going strong!
I’m so grateful that I get to get up everyday and do what I love and I’m honored to work with companies like QVC! This was such a fun collaboration and I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!

Jack would be the type of husband that when you’re pregnant spoils you more than he already does if that’s even possible .. he quickly learns the foods you like and don’t like and he makes sure you are always stocked up with your favorites especially when it’s about time for him to leave for a roadie.. he learns to braid hair for the times that you are just too tired to do anything with your hair.. he buys you a nugget ice maker because you don’t want any other ice. He runs your baths and showers and helps you shave without hesitation and without you asking. When you wanna have sex because your hormones he’s so sweet and gentle with you because he doesn’t want to hurt you but he will do anything to make you happy. If you’re craving something while he’s on a roadie he immediately has the food delivered to you. He holds your belly up for you to take some of the pressure off your back… he’s just so attentive and patient with you and if you have mood swings he doesn’t take anything you say to heart he knows you are uncomfortable. He cuddles with you even if you are hot natured especially pregnant. He’s not ever going to tell you no
Oh definitely, he's also so good post-partum. You've just given birth and everything hurts and is kind of gross but he doesn't care, doesn't blink an eye just does what you need. Makes ice cold pads for your underwear to help sooth you, helps you get dressed when you've just given birth and your body is still so sore, takes over as many responsibilities as he possibly can in those early days because you need and deserve the rest. If he can't because of hockey then he's getting people you love and trust around you to help because there is absolutely no way that you are doing anything post partum when you've literally just birthed an entire human being.
He doesn't fall into the trap either of baby comes first and mum gets ignored, when you've given birth he first checks that you're okay because ultimately you're partners in this and he loves his child, but you are his girl and that's also important and he refuses to forget that. Baby will always get his love, his attention, but he doesn't want you feeling neglected or abandoned in favour of the baby.

This is an off the wall question I'm sending to my mutuals and friends so don't be alarmed, I haven't been hacked. I think I'll call it Weird Ask Wednesdays. This might turn into a regular thing... (Can you tell that I'm bored?)
If you were to choose to be a certain type of ice cube. What kind of ice cube would you be? You can show pictures for reference if you want.
-xoxo
Okay apparently there are SEVERAL different types of ice. Which is hilarious to me because there's such a science behind which one to use. There are between 20 and 74,963 forms of ice. For the sake of this, I'll be examining the following primary seven types.
Tumblr media
If I had to pick any of these to be in my drinks, I'd pick the nugget ice. It melts super fast, cools off the drink, and if it ends up in my mouth I can chew it. I also don't need that much ice so it's perfect.
HOWEVER THE QUESTION IS NOT WHAT I WOULD USE IN A DRINK IT IS WHICH WOULD I BE.
Under these considerations, I need ice that is built to last. I tend to remain level headed in stressful situations and would thus not melt under pressure. I also need ice that does its job efficiently. That doesn't mean perfectly, but gets the job done fast. I also would be 100% ice because to be anything else would be LIES. HOW CAN YOU BE ICE IF YOU ARE IN A STATE OF LIQUID WATER??
Clears throat.
In conclusion, the best ice to represent me is crescent Ice. She's not perfect, but she's effective, efficient, 100% ice, and unique to regular cubed ice, yet not so far removed from the almost crescent ice of our freezers (well those who have ice makers). Crescent ice is a staple in restaurants and is dependable to get the job done with a subtle flair.
RB with what kind of ice you would be.

My dad got my mom got a nugget ice maker for Christmas (something, I, an emphatic lover of chewing ice, am very happy about). It is maybe the best gift I have never been given.
So now, I have a cup that is 80% ice, 20% Mtn. Dew (because caffeine) and I'm sitting down to write my WIP for the first time in, like, a month.
Christmas miracles are real. Also happy New Year's Eve! May the coming year bring endless inspiration and good writing vibes to all creatives.

What is a Nugget Ice Maker?
Tumblr media
A nugget ice maker is a specialized machine designed to produce small, chewable ice pieces that are soft and porous. These ice makers use a unique process that involves compressing flaked ice into nuggets, resulting in a texture that is easy to chew and absorbs the flavor of drinks better than traditional ice cubes. Available in a variety of sizes and models, nugget ice makers can be found in commercial settings, catering to different needs and volumes. Their innovative design and reliable performance make them a sought-after choice for those who prioritize the quality and texture of ice in their beverages.
When buying a nugget ice machine, consider factors such as production capacity, size, and energy efficiency to ensure it meets your specific needs for home or commercial use. It's also important to compare models for features like self-cleaning functions and water filtration to maintain ice quality and reduce maintenance.
What is Nugget Ice?
Nugget Ice is a type of ice known for its unique, chewable texture and small, soft, cylindrical shape. Often referred to as "Sonic ice" or "Pellet ice," nugget ice is made by compressing flake ice into small, irregularly shaped pieces. This process creates a porous structure, which allows the ice to absorb and retain the flavors of the beverages it's in, making it a favorite for many people.
Nugget ice is popular in the food and beverage industry, especially in fast-food restaurants, casual dining establishments, and healthcare settings. Its soft, chewable nature makes it enjoyable to eat on its own and less likely to cause tooth damage compared to traditional cubed ice. Additionally, nugget ice cools drinks quickly without diluting them as fast, due to its higher surface area and slower melting rate. This type of ice is ideal for soft drinks, cocktails, smoothies, and even medical uses where patients may need to consume ice safely.
Tumblr media
Who Uses Nugget Ice Machines?
Nugget ice makers are popular in a variety of settings due to the unique, chewable texture of nugget ice, which is also known as pellet ice or pebble ice. Here are some common users of nugget ice makers:
Restaurants and Bars: Nugget ice is favored for its ability to quickly cool drinks without watering them down as rapidly as cubed ice. It’s especially popular in cocktails and soft drinks.
Healthcare Facilities: Due to its soft texture, nugget ice is ideal for patients who find it easier to chew, making it a common choice in hospitals and healthcare settings.
Convenience Stores and Cafes: These establishments use nugget ice for its appeal in fountain beverages and smoothies because it blends well and enhances the drink's presentation.
Offices: Some office break rooms feature nugget ice makers to provide employees with a preferred ice option for their beverages throughout the workday.
These machines are highly valued across these settings for their efficiency and the specific type of ice they produce, which has a wide range of uses beyond just cooling drinks, such as in food displays and therapeutic uses in healthcare.
Nugget ice machines have revolutionized the way we enjoy our favorite beverages and snacks, offering a unique and enjoyable experience that goes beyond just cooling drinks. Their ability to produce soft, chewable ice that enhances the taste and texture of beverages has made them a popular choice in commercial settings. Whether it’s for crafting the perfect cocktail, keeping food displays fresh, or simply providing a refreshing treat, nugget ice machines continue to grow in popularity due to their versatility and user-friendly design. As more people discover the benefits of nugget ice, it’s clear that these innovative machines are here to stay, adding a delightful touch to daily life.

Nugget Ice Maker FAQ
What is the best nugget ice maker?
The Ice-O-Matic GEMU090 is a solid choice for a nugget ice maker, especially for those looking for an undercounter unit with a higher production capacity. It can produce up to 85 pounds of nugget ice per day and has a storage capacity of 22 pounds, making it suitable for small to medium-sized commercial settings. It features Ice-O-Matic’s Pure Ice antimicrobial technology, ensuring clean and odor-free ice, which is a significant advantage for maintaining ice quality. Find more information on the GEMU090 here: https://www.restaurantsupply.com/
How does a nugget ice maker work?
A nugget ice maker works by compressing flake ice into small, chewable nuggets, often referred to as "pellet" or "Sonic" ice. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how the process generally works:
Water Intake and Freezing: The machine takes in water from a reservoir or water line. Inside the ice maker, there is a freezing cylinder or drum that is refrigerated. Water is continuously fed into this cylinder, where it begins to freeze.
Formation of Flake Ice: As water freezes on the inner surface of the drum, an auger or scraper rotates inside, scraping the newly formed ice off the surface into thin flakes.
Compression into Nuggets: The flake ice is pushed through a compression chamber by the rotating auger. In this chamber, the flakes are compressed together, forming small, cylindrical ice nuggets. The compression removes excess water, making the ice nuggets dense yet chewable.
Dispensing and Storage: Once formed, the nugget ice is pushed out of the machine into a storage bin or directly into a dispenser. From here, the ice can be used immediately or stored for later use.
Continuous Production: Most nugget ice makers are designed to produce ice continuously as long as there is a demand and sufficient water supply. The ice production stops automatically when the storage bin is full or resumes when the ice level decreases.
The key components in a nugget ice maker include the water reservoir, freezing cylinder, auger, compression chamber, and storage bin. The auger and compression process are what give nugget ice its unique texture and shape.
Tumblr media
How much is a nugget ice maker?
For commercial use, models like the Ice-O-Matic GEMU090 can produce up to 85 pounds of nugget ice per day and usually cost between $2,500 and $3,500. This type of machine is ideal for restaurants or bars that require a higher volume of ice and more robust construction.
In summary, prices for nugget ice makers range from around $170 for basic countertop models to over $4,000 for high-capacity commercial machines, with an average price of about $400 for most lower-end models.

I think a lot about how people have started saying that we don't outgrow things we loved as kids. I really like hearing my friends bubbling with excitement to buy the old school PC they've always wanted. or the fairy lights they've wanted to shove into a mason jar because they saw it on Pinterest when they were 13 and adults wouldn't let them and I've loved filling my cupboards with toy cars and stuffed animals and ties and paper flowers even if it's just in my shitty dorm and I love that my friends are getting the tattoos they wanted as kids and they're buying their first gaming consoles and the racecar bedsheets they wanted and the kids bandaids with the cartoon characters on them because they weren't allowed to when they were younger. and they're getting a waffle maker because theyve never had waffles before and they're eating a whole hotdog and not half to save the rest for later and they bought sieves in different sizes because it was useful.
it makes me really happy because yes!! you're not 13 anymore (/pos)!!! for this one thing your convenience and happiness isn't second to anything else!!!! go buy a rice cooker so you don't have to cook the rice and make dino nuggets and ice cream sandwiches for dinner because you can
finally having enough money to spend a little on things that you don't need, either because youve always wanted to or just think it would be nice is just really good
