A new singer appears in street se... Huh?!
Tumblr media
heck yeah VBS glitched gakupo AU!! more info below :D
about the design!
modern street fashion is like, the antithesis to all of my charcter designs. i hope i was able to make something coherent and cool-ish (i even needed to use a character maker for help sobs)
his shirt resembles a fake png, firstly i was gonna do a magenta-black checkerboard texture because that's usually the defeault missing texture in a lot of games, but it was clashing too much with his color scheme so i decided to use the fake jpeg (also cuz it's more recognizeable imo)
i also drew the back of his shirt! as a little reference to the proseka's files themselves (the provisional kanji image is from "the cutting room floor" page on prsk, there's some really interesting cut beta content from there!)
Tumblr media
his shoes are kinda messed up because they're supposed to be incomplete. yes. totally not because i didn't know what to draw there!!
now, about gacky himself:
in my hc/au gakupo cannot speak properly, like some kind of engine error, imagine those utau to vocaloid ports, like they tried to port him to piapro NT but didn't go well and now he only speaks in broken syllables, static noise and sqweaks, doesn't make him show any less emotion tho
GAKUKAI JUMPSCARE!!! this is actually slightly based on this wonderful gakukai wxs fic but it was mostly based on the freaking alt color from kaito's costume from walk on and on (read my tags!)
i have no clue how the fandom portrays him and VBS virtual singers personalities are based on how fans view them so idk, to me gakupo is a bit playful and specially flirty with kaito who's totally oblivious, but he's also genuinely scary when he's serious
my little backstory for this is that gakupo straight up spawned in an abandoned screwed up and slightly glitched building of street sekai, and while kaito was wandering around, he got lost and found gakupo there! no clue which feelings made him appear
kaito tried to keep gakupo a secret from the rest of street sekai but meiko started noticing that he was grabbing DOUBLE the popsicles and ice cream.. and he was also strangely asking for eggplant flavoured things because he "wanted to try it out"... anyway she and miku eventually find out about the little glitchy man!
also... because he's character 27 and vsingers are the last ones in the id list... this leaves it open for more characters that i can add to this little au thing... maybe even a glitchy sister that speaks a little better than him and really likes carrot cake may come around to street sekai too, who knows!

Introduction - Vocal Synth Terminology - Part 1
This post will be split into multiple parts due to Tumblr's character limit.
If you are new to the Vocal Synth community, you may encounter some words and phrases you don’t understand. For instance, someone may tell you about Rin and Len’s appends, and you may confuse that term for the difficulty in Project Sekai! Colorful Stage! Or may have heard someone discussing USTs, but can not find its definition anywhere nor figure out what the hell they are talking about.
Well, I made a dictionary of sorts to help newbie fans get used to Vocal Synth jargon. The keyword is “Vocal Synth” as these apply to other software as well. These definitions have a greater focus on the programs themselves than the characters.
Credits to Vocaloid Wiki and Minnemi on YouTube for some of these definitions.
Vocal Synthesizer: A digital instrument that creates tracks like any other DAW, but instead of piano notes, guitar strums, or drum beats, you compose vocals! Also known as “vocal synths”. Examples of vocal synthesizers include VOCALOID, UTAU, SynthesizerV, CeVIO, and Piapro Studio.
Voicebank: A collection of recordings of the sounds that make up a language. These sounds are typically vowels and constants, but depending on the voice bank, you may also get breath notes and pronunciation effects. Or, in simpler terms, the singers that are used in vocal synths! There are ton of voicebanks in the vocal synth community, with some of the popular ones being Hatsune Miku (VOCALOID + Piapro Studio), Kagamine Rin and Len (VOCALOID + Piapro Studio), Megurine Luka (VOCALOID + Piapro Studio), Kasane Teto (UTAU + SynthesizerV), Megpoid Gumi (VOCALOID + SynthesizerV + A.I. VOICE, FineSpeech Ver3), flower (VOCALOID + Gynoid Talk + CeVIO), IA (VOCALOID + CeVIO), and KAFU (CeVIO + SynthesizerV)! Individual vocal synth characters can also have different versions of their voice, such as Yuzuki Yukari’s Onn (soft) and Lin (power) voicebanks!
Voice Provider: The person whose voice that a voicebank is created. Voice providers record samples of their voice (specifically vowels and constants) at a certain key (for instance A3), which are turned into a voicebank with the company’s black magic (I’m kidding, I don’t know how they process and put the vocals together). For instance, PIKO is Utatane Piko’s voice provider, Satoshi Fukase is Fukase’s voice provider, and Naoto Fuga (shown below) is KAITO’s voice provider!
Tumblr media
Crypton Future Media: The brains behind some of the most popular VOCALOIDs, which are Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, KAITO, and MEIKO. Aside from voicebanks, they created games, concerts, merchandise, and much more relating to these beloved VOCALOIDS! Cryptonloids are… VOCALOIDS created by Crypton. Soon, Crypton departed from Yamaha and made its own vocal synthesizer in affiliation with another company called Piapro named Piapro Studio. There are two versions of this software; Piapro Studio NT and Piapro Studio V4x.
UTAU: A vocal synthesizer that is considered the “sister” software to VOCALOID. Unlike VOCALOID, this software is 100% free and you can create your own voicebank. There are thousands of UTAUloids at this point in time, giving you a huge selection of different ranges and strengths. Popular UTAUloids include Utatane “Defoko” Uta, Kasane Teto, Namine Ritsu, Momo Momone, Yowane Ruko, Sukone Tei, Rook, Gahata Meiji (shown below), Yamane Renri, Matsudappoiyo, Keine Ron, Kohaku Merry, Gekiyaku, Kazehiki, Adachi Rei, Ooka Mika, and so many others! There is also an open-source version of UTAU called Open UTAU, which is much easier to install and use (it has a dark mode!). Vipperloids are the classic UTAUloids that share surnames ending with “-ne” and their VOCALOIDish designs. These include Utatane “Defoko” Uta, Kasane Teto, Namine Ritsu, Momo Momone, Yowane Ruko, Sukone Tei, and many others.
Tumblr media
SynthesizerV Studio: Also known as SynthV, this is a vocal synthesizer made by Dreamtonics that is well-known for its AI voicebanks. For a software that is smaller than VOCALOID, they are extremely advanced with realistic-sounding voicebanks, piano-roll tuning, rap vocals, and so many other features. It’s also much cheaper (thank you, Yamaha money sharks). In addition, Dreamtonics has two free versions; SynthesizerV Studio R1, and SynthesizerV Studio Basic R2. Popular SynthV voicebanks include Eleanor Forte, Kaorou Rikka, GENBU, Tsurumaki Maki, SAKI, SOLARIA, KEVIN (fan design by ivylare shown below), Stardust, ROSE, POPPY, and Kasane Teto Ai!
Tumblr media
CeVIO Project: A collection of voice synthesizers created in collaboration with five different companies including Techno Speech and Frontier Works. Not only do they make vocal synthesizers, but their softwares have speech interfaces as well. As of now, their most popular program is CeVIO AI, a next-generation vocal synthesizer that uses AI technology to create powerful vocals as seen in SynthesizerV. Popular voicebanks include Chis-A (shown below), KAFU, Sato Sasara, IA AI, ONE, Yuzuki Yukari Rei, CiFlower, POPPY, ROSE, and many others.
Tumblr media
Tuning: Essentially how you want a song or cover to sound. By editing the parameters of the individual notes and that of the voicebank itself (including the pitch, volume, strength, sharpness, and breaths), you can obtain an entirely different result of how the singer sings the encoded notes through different methods. This blog is dedicated to teaching people how to tune, so I’ll show a variety of tuning styles in the software.
V_: The VOCALOID software edition. As of now, there are six editions of the software, which are VOCALOID, VOCALOID2, VOCALOID3, VOCALOID4, VOCALOID5, and VOCALOID6. A lot of VOCALOID voicebanks would be named after the edition they were designed for, such as Gackpoid V4.
VSQ/VSQx/VPR/UST/SVP: The different vocal file formats through which the note, lyric, and tuning data are saved in different vocal synthesizers. These files are not exactly specific to a single editor as they can be converted to the appropriate formats:
VSQ: VOCALOID2 and VOCALOID3
VSQx: VOCALOID4
VPR: VOCALOID5 and VOCALOID6
UST: UTAU and OPENUTAU
SVP: SynthesizerV Studio
Phonemes: In linguistics and developmental psychology, phenomes are the smallest sounds of speech that distinguish one word from another. Similarly, in vocal synths, these are the building blocks of the individual lyrics that are read by the voicebank. Phonemes differ from the lyrics in a vocal synth file as the lyrics are the actual syllables in language while the phonemes are based on the X-SAMPA system. For instance, let’s examine and compare lyrics from “The Lost One’s Weeping” by neru to the phonemes that would be written in a vocal synth. Romaji lyrics (Source - Vocaloid Lyric Wiki): kokuban no kono kanji ga yomemasu ka? Romanji lyrics in VOCALOID4: [ko] [ku] [ba] [n] [no] [ko] [no] [ka] [n] [ji] [ga] [yo] [me] [ma] [su [ka] Phonemes in a vocal synthesizer VOCALOID4: [k o] [k M] [b a] [n] [n o] [k o] [k a] [n] [dZ i] [g a] [j o] [me] [m a] [s M] [k a] As we can see here, the phonemes of a song can differ significantly from the lyrics that are entered into a program. You can also edit the phonemes of a lyric for better pronunciation (for instance, for the word “you’d”, you can try [y M d]), or split them up into vowels and constants in notebending. In addition, there are entirely different phonemes for voicebanks designed for different languages; for instance, VOCALOID has Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish voicebanks. However, it is possible to make voicebanks sing in different languages, like how Utsu-P makes Miku V4 English sing in fluent Japanese. There are also phonemes for breaths, and glottal stops, as well as pronunciation effects that are exclusive to some voicebanks, like Enhanced Voice Expression Control (E.V.E.C.) in the V4x Cryptonloids. I will go into greater depth on phonemes in a future post.
Pitch bending: The effect where one note slides to another in a clean fashion without sounding flat. When people usually mention pitch bending in a vocal synth, they are referring to the tuning style where you alter the pitch using the “pitch bend” and “pitch bend sensitivity” parameters. If you have seen tuning streams or covers where people show their editors, you may have noticed dynamic and sometimes dramatic lines either on top of the notes or in a box beneath the piano roll. These are pitch bends! By drawing pitch curves in different ways, you can acquire different ways the notes are sung. You can then increase or decrease the pitch bend sensitivity of certain notes to change the factor of how many semitones the pitch curves will jump or fall by when the pitch bend parameter is brought to the maximum or minimum values. To paint a better picture of this concept, I made a quick VSQx of the "watashi" ([w a] [t a] [S i]). The curves on cutting through the green box are my pitch bends, and the thin red line running through the notes is the result. The transparent box behind it is my pitch bend sensitivity, which I increased for more sensitive in the [w a] and [t a] notes, and decreased for less for the [S i] phoneme.
Tumblr media
Note bending: A tuning style where you manipulate the pitch by splitting notes into smaller notes. You can move the notes up and down or edit the phonemes to obtain different effects in notes. If you would like to breakdown the phrase [w a] [t a] [S i], you can write the notes out as [w a] [a] [a] [a] [a] [t a] [a] [S i [i] [i]! This is my preferred method of tuning as I do not enjoy drawing lines and like the nostalgic effect of the clean, slightly robotic sounds.
Tumblr media
Portamento Timing: This term can have multiple definitions, but the general meaning is a slide from one note to the next. Do not confuse this for pitch bending as the way that notes transition in portamento is different from the former. In Vocaloid, portamento is a parameter that allows you to alter the timing of the pitch. Increasing the value would result in the pitch being more delayed, and decreasing it will cause the pitch to be sung earlier. In UTAU and SynthesizerV, portamento refers to the editable points in a pitch curve. Adding more points allows you to have more freedom in creating pitch bends.
Pitchsnap Mode: A setting in vocal synthesizers that causes the pitch curves to “snap” from one note to another. This setting yields a more autotuney and robotic tone in tuning. While I prefer to tune with this feature shut off, I have heard that the pitchsnap function makes pitch-bending much easier. Remember our "The Lost One's Weeping" example? Here is an amazing cover of it by our lord and saviour Jade S. with Fukase and Miku V3 Solid that showcases how beautiful the pitchsnap function can make the vocals sound when used correctly!
youtube
Mixing: A process of blending vocals with an off-vocal or instrumental so the singing fits in the environment of the vocal's music. It's more than just plugging in an audio track, you need to ensure that the vocals are cleaned up, are at an appropriate volume, and do not sound out of place. People can get super creative with mixing by adding reverb, radio-like effects, growls, and “adlibs” during instrumental breaks! All in all, the mixing of vocals is just as important as the tuning.
Producer: Anyone who makes music using vocal synths. This title was initially reserved for people who make original songs but can be used to describe cover artists like myself as well. Popular producers include ryo(supercell), kzlivetune, wowaka(shown below; Rest in Peace), neru, Deco* 27, and many others!
Tumblr media
“-P”: Standing for “producer title”, this suffix originated from the IDOLM@STER fandom and refers to anyone who makes music with vocal synths, or in other words, vocal synth producers! For instance, why do we call Circus-P by his name with the "-P" suffix? Because that is what he is, a producer! You can also use the title “vocalo-p” to address synth users.

22 and 23!
22. What’s a setting you’d love to see for a Killing Game?
Space. Like they’re stuck in an enclosed setting with no windows that could be anything and it’s just revealed they’re in space. I think that would be pretty cool. I had an idea about something like that years ago, and bought into the idea that was what the V3 setting would end up being.
23. Which are your top three favorite beta designs?
First up is Kaede.
Tumblr media
The hat really complete the look. I like it a lot. And a lot of AUs, like Pokemon AU and stuff I just give her the hat because it looks nice on her.
Next is Kirumi.
Tumblr media
This one is a nice look for her that goes with her vibes and aesthetic so well, any one of them could have made it in and I don’t think anyone would have complained.(There’s a joke here about serving up c*nt while serving your master here somewhere)
And lastly is Himiko!
Tumblr media
The bear hoodie with the stars and planets is just so adorable I love it. I guess I get why they would have to change it because Kaito’s the astronaut, but Himiko needs something like this. This is her PJs, let’s canonize it!

Rating Vocal Synth Designs! Part Two: KAITO and MEIKO!
(PT: Rating Vocal Synth Designs! Part Two: KAITO and MEIKO! End PT) Another episode of Rating Vocal Synth designs! Today's edition is KAITO and MEIKO, the first Japanese vocaloids ever released!
Let's get started!
Tumblr media
MEIKO V1 (By Wasshi): The artstyle is very cute. But there's something about the uniform that... bothers me. Just can't figure it out though. 7/10.
Tumblr media
KAITO V1 (Art by Kawasaki Takashi): I'm... actually not sure how I feel about this boxart design. ???/10.
Tumblr media
MEIKO V3 (Art by iXima): I feel like out of all vocaloids, MEIKO was the only one that stayed somewhat true to the classic design. I love this. What else is there to say. 10/10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KAITO V3 (Same artist as above): Same as V2, just with better boxart. The KAITO we all know and love. 10/10.
Tumblr media
MEIKO 10th Anniversary (Also by iXima I believe?): ...Nothing special. Just V3 Meiko with a crown and sash. 7/10.
Tumblr media
Another MEIKO V1(?) design (Art by sorbe) - Not official design, I know, but I love it so damn much I had to include it (Especially considering Crypton only released two MEIKO voicebanks). Honestly if MEIKO ever gets her NT voicebank (Or better yet, a SynthV or CeVIO voicebank?), this design would be a great match for it. 10/10
Tumblr media
Sakine Meiko (Art by Daigoman): THE BOOTS? THE HEADPHONES??? SHE'S SO CUTE AAAA 1000/10.

ok so. do you have any vocaloid opinions that would get you set on fire
Hmm I’m not sure if some of these would actually get me burned at the stake but let’s see.
-I vastly prefer Flower with the ponytail over the short haired design people seem to be obsessed with
-not necessarily an opinion but I didn’t know fukase came out in 2016. I never saw or even heard of him until like. Earlier this year
-this one’s an opinion tho: fukase is mid
-miku nt doesn’t sound as bad as people say she does (and I’m partially convinced that many people are exaggerating)
-if Kaito got a voicebank called “straight” then he should’ve gotten one called “gay” to balance it out. This is a joke
-kaito v1>kaito v3. I admit people can make his v3 sound pretty nice but very often he sounds like the audio equivalent of a blank face (especially the aforementioned straight voicebank). Also even if people somehow make his original version sound like Kermit the frog I like the tone of it better and I think v1 has a richer sound (idk how to describe it)
-a lot of female vocaloids sound extremely similar. Not all just many to the point where I can’t tell them apart just by hearing them even if I already know them otherwise
-just an (nonsensical) observation but. being the first two Japanese vocaloids who are also male, Kaito and Len have essentially formed a sort of spectrum that the other male voices fall within, of which they are the two extremes. yk what I mean
-also not really an opinion but. I can’t tell the difference between Rin/Len act 1 and 2. I know what the difference is supposed to be but they sound exactly the same to me
-now this is about prsk but it’s vocaloid adjacent so. I have quite a distrust of prsk fans actually. I’m not saying it’s all of them, but it’s so widespread that it’s negatively affected my view of the fan base (which is seriously saying something). All I see is them making mountains out of molehills, constant call-outs, doxxing and telling people to kill themselves and sending death threats over some goddamn fictional characters. And god forbid they get into vocaloid and then bring that bullshit with them. Why are they like that. Is it because they’re children or are they just that immature?? Whatever it is, I’d fucking hate to be near that really!
-realistic vocals are impressive but that does not make them inherently better than the more robotic sounding ones. If anything I think there’s a charming flair that the robotic voices have, especially in older songs

i feel so proud of teto getting the recognition she deserves, though i do wish the artists kept the more magenta-y color scheme over a more straight-up red. still, wild to see her get varied voicebanks and stuff!
of classic teto stuff i liked way back when, it's mostly covers. the version of cendrillion with teto+ted, the teto cover of kaito's pane dhiria, but also loved fukkireita and triple baka
tbh the color is so similar that people will probably still consider to represent her with various shades of red-magenta even with the new outfit as time goes on :) but tbh i think the new design is really in touch, they didn't mess with her iconic hair, she keeps a classic styled vocaloid belt loop (which she had on her og design) and while she's cute she's not like... overly cute, they didn't idol-ify her (like they did with miku NT and rin v4. shivers in agony)
classic teto nostalgia stuff hits man. i used to rewatch the "confront! you look so cool!" pv over and over and over in middle school despite the song being so short because i was amazed by the animation quality lol. you mentioning the teto/ted cendrillion cover unlocked memories i forgot i had HSJDFKSD

i put it under a read more so i could ramble about all the patterns i saw
tl;dr: more blues than green, green is more likely your answer if you were wrapped in the vocaloid community back in 2010 with all its memes; can we all agree that whatever the hell kei did with his v2 miku he somehow managed to make a blue green that was an exact 50-50 ratio
Tumblr media
first off, there seems to be a larger number of blue believers than there are green believers. from the replies alone there are a staggering 40 blue believers to the 16 greens (anyone who said blue-green without specifying a preference will not have their votes counted. we do not accept fence sitters here [joke])
now i know i said earlier that it seems to be correlated to how old of a vocaloid fan you are but that doesn't seem to be right (many blue believers say they've been fans since the early 2010s, which would've been around the time miku would've been drawn more as green) so let me rephrase that: it does seem to partially be correlated to whether you're more familiar with newer songs or the older songs (and the culture that surrounded the old fandom. god i'm old)
most of the green believers would probably mention gekokujo, green is the enemy or evilious chronicles (where miku's character is referred to as having green hair), as well as the fact that miku is designated green since kaito is undebatably blue (and maybe the leeks as well but the leek wasn't colour assigned iirc it was based off a different meme at the time).
conversely, most of the blue believers quote anamaguchi's miku (BLUE HAIR BLUE TIE), or the fact that gumi already took the 'green' colour assignment and...also the fact that many people just see turquoise as a blue colour. (personally i think it also has to do with ixima doubling down on the light blue side in their artwork for v3 and v4 but imo they went more towards green for her nt so that's a wobbly argument)
with all that, i think it's clear what the REAL answer is
Tumblr media
(sorry i put this in when you said to ignore it but the world needs to know you're right)
i'm positive that most of the people who quoted the songs weren't using it as serious evidence but this person's right, the one thing miku represents in the vocaloid community (being a malleable paper doll anyone can bend to their will for their own content) is, amazingly, visible in her hair, like how people have different ideas of her personality, there are different ideas about her hair
it's always fun to see people's own interpretations of miku because let's face it, that's kinda the point of this community. the fun thing is that literally nothing, not even pjdiva or pjsekai content is canon because pjdiva literally runs with ALL fan notions and pjsekai literally have 5 mikus (and from what i hear, an equal split of green and blue haired mikus)
special mention to everyone who quoted Not Blue Or Green because they were thinking about sakura miku or just Skittles Miku
one last thing a few people mentioned is that japan's relationship with the colours blue and green is quite...interesting? i'll let these replies/tags speak for themselves because yeah, there's always a confusion between blue and green in japan for some reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(also yeah if you look at her v3 english art vs her v3 japanese art you'd understand the second person)
i'm honestly not sure why, it's probably because their character for blue (青) happens to be the exact same for... a blue-ish green/greenish blue in chinese (although chinese has words for Definitively Green and Definitively Blue, 绿 and 蓝 respectively, the latter which rarely sees use in japanese). there is a thing where what is generally referred to as the green traffic light is considered blue in japan (i.e. they don't say 'midori (green) no shingou' they say 'ao (blue(?)) shingou'
that's just speculation, but to end this off, i want to reward all of you who read my ramblings by asking you one more question, if you know pokemon
Tumblr media
is his name blue or green (gary is not counted) (although i think this one might be less contentious compared to miku's hair)
are you a blue hair miku believer or a green hair miku believer (blue green doesn’t count pick a side)

Vocaloid of The Day:
Hatsune Miku!!!!
Tumblr media
Release Date: August 31, 2007
Era: V2; V3 and V4 update
Company: Crypton Future Media
Language: Japanese/English/Chinese Mandarin
☆☆☆
Of course, we all know Hatsune Miku, she is the most well known Vocaloid, even being claimed to be the first vocaloid due to her popularity! I'm still going to go over alot about her so buckle up, she will probably be my longest entry!
☆☆☆
Hatsune Miku was advertised through the DTM Magazine, as were most vocaloids before her. In the November 2007 issue that came out after her release, there was a demo cd with featuring songs sung by her. This issue sold out completely and led to Crypton reaching out to other magazines and guidebooks to promote her further.
In her first 12 days of sale, she already sold over 3000 units, which is what MEIKO made in a year. She ended up selling over 60,000 copies in her first year, a massive sale compared to MEIKO and KAITO.
Hatsune Miku boomed with popularity on Nico Nico Douga. The song 'Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru' became the first vocaloid song to get 1,000,000 views on the streaming site.
The concept behind Miku is 'An android from the future where songs are lost' and has traveled back in time to prevent this future from happening. Her name roughly translates to 'the first sound from the future'
KEI was the original illustrator for Mikus boxart, and it took him over a month to complete the final design. He never heard of Vocaloids or synthesizers in general, and had no idea how to humanize a voice program.
Her design has several key elements:
• Her color scheme is based around Yamahas classic synthesizers colors
• The digital bars on her skirt and boots are the bars from the Yamaha synthesizer
• Other aspects of her design are based around the DX-100 and DX-7 keyboard models
•The hair ribbons float without touching her hair and keep it in place
•Before she was given her iconic pigtails, she had a half up half down hair style. (Shown below)
Tumblr media
Like how MEIKO and KAITO are associated with a specific item, Miku has her own item too! Commonly mistaken for a leek, she carries a spring onion! Although due to the misconception, she is more often drawn with a leek.
Miku got so popular to the point she is recognizable almost everywhere in Japan. She is used to draw attention for festivals and sponsor products, and is even in music textbooks.
Because of how recognizable she was, when the 2011 tsunami hit Japan, she was used as the face to represent country and hopefully make younger children feel safer seeing a character they know and love representing them.
Out of all her voicebanks, Append is the only one generally disliked by the community. This got to a point where songs were 'boycotted' if the producer used Append. Many stated it no longer sounded like Miku and refused to listen to her voicebank.
Append is also the only design to be censored in official art. The strip of flesh showing under her tie is covered in Project Diva, but is uncensored in her figures.
While advertising her to the western audience, Crypton marketed her as a virtual singer instead of a virtual instrument.
Miku has the second most amount of voicebanks of any vocaloid, 15 versions.
She is now the face of Crypton Future Media, and Vocaloid as a whole. This has led to come criticism from the community stating that crypton needs to bring more attention to thier other vocaloids as well instead of throwing Miku into everything.
I would like to bring to attention her many adorable designs for her voicebanks! (Her original design by KEI is the first image in this post)

Personal Opinion:
I LOVE Miku, she is in my top ten. I love seeing how different she sounds when used by different producers and I think her voice is really appealing. I also love how versatile her design is, seeing all her Snow Miku and Magical Mirai designs every year us so fun! And just her merchandise, ugh, I want so much of it! But I do understand people complaints with her, no one else really gets a chance in the spotlight because of her. But! I still love her she is just a little guuuy little guy with cute voice♡
☆☆☆
Songs Featuring Hatsune Miku:
I tried to include songs from different eras and voicebanks, as well as different producers to show Mikus range!

UM WHO'S THIS HOTTIE?! ROMEO??????? How did you come up with his design/backstory/interesting last name? Could we see him some more?
Tumblr media
⋆「 ☾ 」⋆ Ah, yes! Romeo!!!! One of my very rare orangey OCs!!! I hope you don’t mind the info dump omg.
Backstory
He was actually an Ms898 manga exclusive character!
Romeo was made to be the sun to Kaito’s moon (quite literally) since y’know, Kaito is the Moonlight Detective and obviously there needs to be a Sunshine Detective.
I remember purposely making him look a little bit like Saguru ‘cause back then I was like “KAITO IS TOTALLY INTO BLONDES AND I REFUSE TO RECEIVE CRITICISM”
Also because giving Saguru a proper love rival would be really fun for plot reasons. Don’t look at me, I made Ms898 when I was like 14-15.
As for his actual backstory, there’s not much because he’s still pretty blank- (I made him then didn’t work on him for YEARS)
I just remember he named himself Sunshine Detective to match Kaito cause he has a crush on Kaito at first, and wants to impress him and everything. I'm pretty sure somewhere I wrote a plot where he tries to capture 898 or 810/910 to show Kaito that he’s competent but Kaito gets all pissed cause ‘excuse you, you’re stealing the spot light’ (hence the salt inducing total Romeo has)
He has a sweet tooth and loves Halloween too.
Design
As for his design- I cannot even remember what was going through my head- mind you, I absolutely hate working with warm colour palettes. It makes me feel sick? idk why, I just,,, do not like copious amounts of yellows and oranges hence all my blUE OCS HJDDKJJDD SO It shocks me now that I managed to make this bastard wear so much god damn orange like HOW? anyways-
If I recall correctly, my friend Tantei came up with the name Holloway and I just took it and ran with it. After a while, the BP trio just, made the joke that he’s a Halloween boy because of his colours and his surname and badabingbadaboom..
Can we see him more?
If you’d allow me omg. I kid you not, I had a dream yesterday that I made Romeo and Jasper a very short webcomic and I can’t stop thinking about it. Obviously I’ll continue working on 2.0 but maybe once things settle down I’ll sit down and write an actual story for these two and just, yeet it out there!
Otherwise, I’m still thinking of putting Romeo and Jasper into either NT or 2.0, either as actual characters or cameos!

Hello, sorry if this is annoying but can you explain how Himiko is neurodivirgent, I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, I just don't know much about the topic and am curious? Sorry to cause any trouble.
It’s absolutely not any trouble!! I love talking about how Himiko shows signs of being neurodivergent. It hits close to home specifically since not only is she one of my favorite characters, but I relate to her a lot. Okay, this might be a bit long, so sorry about that lol:
So in case you don’t know exactly what it is, neurodiversity is when mentally your brain is wired differently than normal, or “neurotypical”, peoples brains. Especially with considerably easy functions like socialising, thinking, learning, developing or ageing, and many others. Many disorders can fall under the neurodiversity spectrum. ADHD, BPD, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dyslexia, and many others.
Personally, I think Himiko would fall into the category of being autistic, which has a lot going into it, but can be summed up as a developmental disorder that involves delays in communication, thinking, social situations, and basic human understanding.
Though there is a thread on Twitter that does a good job covering certain criterias that I won’t end up covering (her lack of understanding of social cues, development delays, the reason why she’s depressed, etc.) and it’s really good!!
Below, I’ll list the traits that, in my opinion, Himiko possesses that are common in ND people. Not all of them will be listed, just the bigger ones:
Talking in a slow, almost “emotionless” way
Himiko talks a certain way throughout the whole of the game, rarely ever changing even when she’s expressing very strong emotions. From the very first line she speaks, Himiko talks about something exciting to her, but still sounds very flat and unenthused. Most ND people will always speak in the same tone of voice no matter what. Sometimes, it's very flat and monotone, like Himikos. Sometimes they'll speak slowly either to gather together what they want to say next, or that's just how they were wired to speak. (Almost exactly like Jataro from DR:AE who speaks in a similar way. Who also has a few neurodivergent traits. But that's just a theory c:)
Childish behavior
This usually ranges, but Himiko has a few traits that neurodivergent people have that others consider “too childish”. She’s extremely naive in how she perceives the world, people around her, and their intentions with interacting with her. Like when Kaito asked her to bring her a crossbow of all things and it takes little for her to be convinced to assist him. Or when Kokichi makes fun of her, and she doesn't always gets it. She's sometimes able to understand, but mostly she doesn't understand that he's just taking advantage of her innocence to treat her how he does with others. She takes things everyone says at face value and believes them easily. Her peers consider her to be a bit slow in many areas, almost in a childlike way. She almost has a child-level understanding of vocabulary (i.e. pronounces words the way children do like how the way she says magic almost sounds like “myagic”, her vocabulary is pretty limited, and she usually starts using certain words that she hears others use). When having her Master brought up with the possibility that he left her selfishly and that she was better than him, she always denies it, keeping an innocent mentality so she won’t feel too bad. After being motivated to move forward, she’s seen a lot to want to be helpful to the group and do something useful, and in return they, in my opinion, view that behavior how older people view a child wanting to be helpful to them. The thread above goes more into detail (her bathroom issues, having a unique way of remembering and referring to objects), but these are only some of the examples for Himiko's maturity.
Being a “gifted child” when she was young
This is entirely my speculation since this is never addressed in canon, but Himiko strikes me as a former “gifted child” which most NDs go through. Her “gift” was discovered at a young age and she was really skilled at it. She was known for it by huge masses of people and praised for it. She even had to save the person who saw the talent in her and taught her everything she knows about it when he made a mistake. She gets invited to all types of events because of it. Lot’s of ND kids who were thought of as “gifted'' may have gone through the same thing. It would also explain why she’s so depressed and unmotivated through most of the game, as a result of what’s called “gifted child syndrome”. Having so much praise and expectations set on her so young. Getting older and not having the same energy for it as you had before. Technically all the DR kids are former gifted children, since they're the product of a company exploiting their "gifts", which is a factor in how the world ended in the way it was. But Himiko has more, you could say "traditional" symptoms and after-effects of growing up as a gifted child (depressed, lack of motivation, lack of motivation in her subject, etc.).
Being viewed as lazy
Even though she takes what she's passionate about seriously, less than when she was younger or not, Himiko doesn't always take action with magic, and even everyday tasks. ND people usually lack any sort of drive, sometimes having an “I’ll come back to it later” mentality, excited about it or not. Himiko lacks any drive and motivation throughout the game, even at the idea of being killed, or put in the line of suspicion for someone's killer. She’ll always make excuses on why she can’t act on things, the most common being “she doesn’t have enough MP”. Which goes back to her talent as a magician, which she is especially sluggish in.
Bottling in her emotions and not wanting them to show. But when she does, it results in an on-going meltdown
We all saw it in its prime during the end of the third trial after all, right? Himiko was sort of always closed in, but it wasn't extreme since she hadn't hit her lowest yet. When she did though, (being the prime suspect of Ryoma dying, her closest friends Tenko and Angie dying, being one of the suspects of one of their murders, etc.) She still attempted to hold it all in, which ND people do for a variety of reasons (not knowing how to process extreme emotions, not wanting too much attention by expressing them, or choosing unhealthy ways to process your feelings, amongst others). But once Kokichi called her out for the second time? Not only was everything practically gushing out of her face, but she literally passed out from crying for so long. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that myself, ha.
The same thing happened in the last trial kind of. Once the truth of the killing game and their identities is revealed, she seems to have a meltdown. It could be from the overwhelmingness of the situation. It could be the amount of "change" of the situation, which she doesn't even remember. It could also be overstimulating tones with the change in environment, the info dumping, and how everyone jumped from topic to topic etc. Meltdowns are normal for ND people, especially since they usually hold in their feelings. Himiko got better at expressing herself, but meltdowns will still happen once something overwhelming occurs (it's a great way to let out steam!!)
Stimming
Stimming is when someone, ND or not, self-stimulates themselves by repeatedly moving in some way either by speaking, moving either themselves or something else, or watching someone else do it. Most of the time, you can see Himiko fidgeting with her fingers or with her hat. Doing something with her hands, which is a form of stimming
Despite that, Himiko most noticeably stims by speaking, as she sometimes repeats stuff others say, sometimes repeats a word in order to comfort herself and her beliefs (saying “it’s magic” over and over, either in retaliation or in general), and has a go-to word that she’ll always use almost every sentence when she doesn’t know what to say, is caught off guard/by surprise, or just when she starts and ends her sentences (y’know like, “nyeh”?).
“Odd” facial features/expressions
This one presents itself a lot in the game and through her design as well. Her lip stays tucked out all the time, her eyes don’t always stay open, and her face often keeps the same expression (tired and kind of bored). Just like when she speaks, even when she's expressing intense emotions, she'll keep a mellow expression. She lifts her hat into the air and not much changes expression-wise. She'll be accusatory to someone and not much changes expression-wise. To certain people she interacts with, they think her face is "weird" since it'll pull in ways it usually doesn't for NT people. It could be because she's trying to force the look on herself so it's more easier for people to read (which is shown to be the case for most people), but it's also possible that it's just how she looks. Since she's older, she has more freedom to make more strategies to have more natural expressions, but it's still off-putting to some of her peers.
The infamous saying, “she comes off as annoying”
Many people know this one well, and Himiko is no different, especially in the earlier chapters. Almost everything stated above is a factor that plays in people's disdain for Himiko, in the game and the fandom. Characters like Shuichi, Kaede, Tenko, and even Angie are one of the only few people who try to understand and adjust to Himiko's behavior in their own method, while everyone else either ignores her, doesn’t take her seriously, or even end up bullying her because of it, not willing to adjust themselves for her specific brand of behavior. Being an obvious target, coming off as weird, being too blunt and coming off as rude (which even caused her having strained relationships with K1-B0, Miu, etc.), sometimes hyperfixating too hard on magic (her “special interest”), all seem to be a reason for people thinking she’s too high maintenance.
,,,this ask sure is a month old isn’t it? retrdfyugihhuyt I am EXTREMELY sorry I answered this so late, but I haven’t been online lately because of moving, but at least I managed to finish this in less than a day lol. It’s long, but I love Himiko, and love all the quirks that make her who she is, and am happy to explain it to others!! I hope this answered your questions either way (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Design V1 dòm khá củ chuối nếu so với bộ V3 sang gọn. Giống kiểu, thằng nhóc và anh trai í :)))))

Art Progress 2016
A year which I have learned how to step back and step forward at the same time. More details under the cut.
January- Pages of Hope- Side Quinn Good lord, I couldn't decide which art piece to showcase for January, stuck between the pieces MH!DL- Bnahabro In the Sky, New Year, New Life and the top competitor against the piece: Once Upon A Time. I ended up picking this piece because it fortold how this year was going to be. This was the month where I was most connected with the character, Quinn, who resembled hope...hope that would end up being crushed multiple times later this year. February- AS- Cutting Down Despair The time I remembered how to cell shade again lol. If I remember correctly, this month was when I was still trying out random things as well as going strong with my motivation for Digimon LinK. Behind the scenes, I think Februrary was the month where all I mostly did was random digimon designs and RPing on the forums. They were once my second home when all I have to currently call home is my own bedroom and nothing else outside of it. March- LinK- Ala the Walkuremon I personally feel like I never improve, but with almost every new full piece I dish out, somehow I get better with my shading execution and I don't know how. At the beginning of the month, both ZinyaWolf and FireReDragon came and visited me! The good ol trio got together and did some shit like go to the aquarium, chased geese and all sorts of shit. It was wonderful. A sweet momentary bliss in a life that was slowly getting darker... April- Take the Shot AKA "there was an attempt (to bring Shisenota back)". This was another month where I couldn't decide between several pieces to showcase here, trapped between LinK- The Awakening Storm, CM- Peaceful Nights Out and the simple-yet-beautifully executed LinK- Alternated Vision. I don't have other things to say about this month...other than more RPing, slipping into Mary Sue levels unknowingly, and of course...failed attempts to get a job. May- The first glimpse With certain events from LinK beginning to take ahold of my negativity and my love for the group, I was losing motivation fast. With yet another pitiful attempt to work on Shisenota, I felt that the best thing to work on were the backgrounds. It's not too shabby, to be honest. Can it be better now? Yes. IRL-wise, with LinK dying, we were gonna go back to what we were doing before, which that in itself was still in shambles. It wasn't looking good for us...until an idea began to conduct around the edge of May and June. This concluded the LinK days, and while the ending days were absolute shit, I will miss it. While another story ended up being unfinished, Quinn's main story was more finished than Hukaro's, so I can at least leave LinK without much regret. June- Sans Close-range Mode My official slip into the Undertale fandom of all things, and what did I have to present? A weird sci-fi Undertale AU known as Nextale, which was more or less a semi-Shisenota-esque version of Undertale characters with its own story and characterization that still sets the two series apart. My co-pilot being none other than FireReDragon  , we started out small, gradually gaining followers with interest, but we were still relatively unknwon in the fandom. It was something new, it was something interesting, and it was not only gonna help me improve in some way, it was also gonna help me figure out my own story. This began the Summer of Nextale. July- Nextale- The Crimson Soul Still unknown to most of the fandom, while Fire was busy in summer camp, forced to not work on Nextale, the fate of the AU depended on me. I kept working on concepts and an old set of comic pages in the background, also while attempting to make new friends in the fandom. This was, I believe, when we met some people such as TehRogue, who came to us asking if he could dub the comic when it comes out. Boy how I bounced all over the walls that day. August- Nextale- Page 9 Trashing the old pages and working on fully-colored ones, I finally released the first nine pages of Nextale onto the tumblr blog. I was worried about the reception of the comic, thinking it might be shit because I fucked up somewhere, wheher it would be the AU concept itself or in the storytelling department, and on the day Fire came back from summer camp...something completely unexpected happened. Whoever says that popularity can't happen overnight miiiight be wrong. A couple of bigwigs in the fandom, one being the benevolent Crayon Queen/loverofpiggies and hiimtryingtounderfell/Kaito, found us, reblogged us, and suddenly...we gained over 1000 followers in an hour and then some. Before we knew it....a good portion of the fandom knew what Nextale was. It was then that I found out that this fandom will help me out far more than I thought. To top off the good vibes this month brought about, I also FINALLY obtained a new job at Chipotle! Boy, it would be a shame if the good vibes ended so suddenly, ehhhhhh~? September- In a New Light As I had hoped, with Nextale's creation and progress, it's helped me out considerably with figuring Shisenota out, starting with Kotaru's major redesign! In regards of Nextale and it's evergrowing popularity, every day was like a god damned festival. We met so many new friends, united the entirety of the good side of the fandom to help one person out, GETTING OUR AU FEATURED IN A GAME THAT I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING, and so on! With balancing the two series out, it seemed like it was gonna go well....until I got fired from my job less than a month afterward for not being up to their standards despite giving it my all to keep it.... October- NT Yang Xiao Long With the result of getting screwed over and fired from my job, I had entered a severely deep and dark depression which I had never experienced before until then. As a result of that depression, I lost motivation on everything, Shisenota...Nextale...you name it. It put a severe strain between me and Fire and it also brought about another new demon that made me fear EVERYTHING. The popularity started taking a severe toll on my health, especially when the haters began showing up, despite being so low in numbers...this was the time when everyone truly became my enemy. Art-wise, I forced myself to do anything, and this was the best I could cook during then other than pages. This was a patreon reward back when I did raffles. November- Concerned Pupper During the first half of the month, I was still trapped in my deep depression, which was made even deeper for a while due to the elections, but I was also still figuring out Shisenota. When we reached a point where we can figure out the world and the general idea of the story, I was able to dish concepts out left and right. The depression ended when I got a call to what would be my new job at Dollar General, and even more so when the Underfell game dev wanted to make Shisenota into a game. Finally, I was also able to pinpoint the source of my issues that I later realized strained my friendships with literally EVERYONE ELSE, and that demon was none other than severe paranoia. I have yet dished out something brand spanking new, just some small shaded doodles like this one. December- SSNT- New World, New Sun This month...was the month of recovery, which I will make a journal about later. Upon realizing things left and right, I was also able to get my gears back together, art-wise, and I'm still trying to get a grasp on what I truly want. There's honestly so much I can say about this month, but I'll leave it be for now. All I know is that I think I'm beginning to find my true voice, and within the next month, it will truly be a new world and a new sun. Art wise, I learned how to "step back" on quality on certain things so I'm not either "always going all out" or "simple sketches", the fact made especially more apparent during the summer, but in regards of my style, my shading, and especially my backgrounds, I'm starting to go towards the right direction, I feel. The first few months started out REALLY strong, hell, I couldn't even decide which art piece I wanted to do in January, April and December. However, after that, especially after LinK closed down, all I did was kind of dragged onwards and remembered how to be half-assed and still look good with my art. December is when I've felt that I'm beginning to roar again. Life-wise...this is considered one of my more worse years, but not THE worst year (that goes to 2013). Cool things still happened, however, like getting to see Zinya and Fire physically (again. With Zinya coming over again on August lol), Nextale and Shisenota's revamp. Is it enough for me to not say "fuck 2016"?
Hell no.
I'm sorry, but as a person, 2016 has definitely made me degrade, causing everyone to be my enemy in my head, deep-ass pits of depression, my health issues resurfacing worse than ever, and boy do not get me STARTED on this god damned toxic household and what it did to me in the past year. OH and let's not forget how I was on the path of damaging SOOO many things! I am so glad that I was able to turn back while there was a path for me to. So everyone....with one last hurrah:
FUCK 2016!!
