vs SAYU (Based Version)
Season 4 Episode 2 No Album Release (Read More) vs. SAYU - No Straight Roads
Ripped by Dead Line (@deadlinesmb)
youtube
Thus far, I've covered the ripper Dead Line twice on this blog - with Medley Rush #7 and Imperial Touwer. Ever since I first had the idea of starting up this blog, Medley Rush #7 was a rip I KNEW that I wanted to cover on it at some point, for the exact reason I declared within it - the ripper's infectious affection. Amidst a sea of exceptionally talented contributors, Dead Line's mark upon the channel is immediately identifiable by just how unabashedly open they are with all of their interests: games that otherwise don't get all too much in-depth coverage on the channel are repeatedly utilized by Dead Line for their excellent, reserved yet althesame fun-loving style of ripping. And past Sonic Rush, Super Monkey Ball, and IndiePogo, the game that immediately springs to mind when I think of Dead Line is No Straight Roads.
Honestly, if you've been following SiIvaGunner for as long as I have, its possible that the game's coverage on the channel was the first time you ever heard of No Straight Roads - hell, vs SAYU (Based Version) released before the game itself did! And certainly, the SiIva team can often be quick to jump on the news right as they happen, the joke with rips like Too big, huh, my nuts are too big how about that and other E3 rips is entirely based on how quick on the draw they appear to be with current gaming news. Yet there's not really a...joke, or a "bit" to play off with vs SAYU (Based Version), no funny controversy that the game found itself in to warrant making some biting satire before the thing even releases. It is Dead Line in its purest form - a game with aesthetics and vibes that the guy clearly clicked with on a deeper level, and decided in turn to mess around with its music in whatever ways they found befitting to that vibe.
It may well be my Anamanaguchi bias from Give Me the Fantasy and 88811 speaking, but the use of On My Own as the introductory edit really just sold me on the direction Dead Line was taking with it immediately. On My Own is hardly Anamanaguchi's most famous song, arguably overshadowed by other singles from [USA] - yet with the focus wholly on Dead Line mixing and matching music they enjoy with the already incredible vs. SAYU theme, means that all notions of needing to be identifiable, or inherently funny, or memetic go out the window. It is, in simple terms, just a straight-up banger, one that could only have come out of Dead Line's own personal tastes and favorite songs, bands, and games.
We do, of course, get a bit of the more SiIvaGunner-core music choices toward the back end of the rip, most notably with a section of three Splatoon songs transitioning into one another back-to-back. As expected, they're what most people in the comments recognize, what most make their patented SiIvaGunner Commenter Jokes about - yet their inclusion, too, comes from a place of sheer affection and admiration that Dead Line has for Splatoon in particular, its style of music and aesthetic already being quite close to No Straight Roads in the first place. All of these sources - including the song Spectrum by Zedd, one I had never even heard of before this rip - seem like odd fits to reference in one collective rip, yet its remarkable just how well they all end up fitting together once blended together. Therin is the power of the ripper - to be able to pick out music that sounds like it wouldn't just be merely "funny" to include, but would fit in terms of style and theming, which sections to devote to which songs or sections *within* songs, and so on and so fourth. vs SAYU (Based Version) aims not to overstay its welcome or burrow home a joke more loud and mainstream than it needs to - it sets out to be a banger, and passes that bar with flying colors.
Essentially, for my money vs SAYU (Based Version) is one of the most Dead Line-ass rips that Dead Line has ever made. Their ear for quality, excellent taste in both games and music, and evident love for what they're paying tribute to all shine through here, and likely brought tons more eyes toward No Straight Roads than ever before. If nothing else, it got the attention of the vs. SAYU composer himself - whose own comment of endorcement gave me the tentative title used throughout this post. The ripper and the original composer, meeting and rejoicing over the shared love of quality, and the shared love of good ass tunes.

REMAKE OF MY OLD MASTERPOST HIIIII...
Capitalist Creepshow is a fast paced rhythm/horror RPG set in a small town in Idaho. The game itself is inpired by Spookware/Warioware, the "Of The Killer" series and NSR. The game would be styled 2d against 3d, with 2d characters in 3d environments, although the artstyle will change pretty frequently. How and When exactly I haven't decided on yet but it will. The sountrack is inspired by The Crystal Method, Underworld, Hideki Naganuma and Machine Girl. The game mostly consists of Warioware styled minigames, and bossfights that range from being rhythm based to more RPG like
The plot follows Cecil and Prim, a demon and angel sent by their parents in their respective worlds to live with their rich uncle, Seg. Seg gives Cecil a job at his company to keep his cover as an otherworldly being, helping him blend in with the humans who live nearby. The facade is ruined when Seg accidentally reveals his true nonhuman form to their neighbor, Jona, when Prim and Cecil are with him. In order to protect his familys identities, Cecil makes a deal with Jona. Jona must keep what he saw a secret, save for telling a few close friends, and help Cecil learn about humanity. In exchange Cecil and Prim agree to teach him more about their cultures. After Cecil grows attached to his human friends, he finds out that his father knows about them, and wants to erase their memories of everything they've seen. In order to stop him, Cecil must travel through the Underworld and Overworld to get to his father to keep him from erasing his friends' memories.
Bosses in order: Seg(tutorial bossfight) SAM, Radon, Apollo, Johnny, Phoenix, Haven
Minibosses: Vesper, Annie, Cecil (optional), Dev (optional), Zeta (optional)
Concept soundtrack in order
Page on my oc carrd
A MORE RECENT POST WITH SOME OF MY NEWER CONCEPT ART ÷) some updated talksprites and more concise cutscene concepts, also a fake ost album cover bc im #crazyyyy and the little healthbar sprites ive been meaning to work on for bossfights lol. also i didnt have my oc carrd last time that has more in depth info for like all of the characters with the exception of some REALLY minor ones. obviously im still working on finishing all the bossfight concepts and sprites and whatever ill do it eventually

noticed you like limbus company...who is your favourite sinner if you don't mind me asking?
HELL YEAH PM ASK
i reallllllllly like gregor and sinclair,,,, also dante if you count them as a sinner.
the first reason i liked gregor was because of his unique design, i love the bug arm,,,,, after watching his story, he soon became one of my faves. im dissapointed that there's not much stuff about him explored in his canto,, its also pretty short since its the first canto,, its fine though i can just read metamorphosis. i really love his moments in hells chicken,,, (best intervallo for me because it focuses on two characters i really like (gregor and ryoshu))
i liked sinclair because he looks like don (i found limbus company by oomf and i only knew don and dante,,,😭), his canto was probably my favorite canto because thats when i actually REALLY got into limbus. his canto has the best npc there (demian👅👅)
i just really like dante they're my fav out of all of them. i have a list why they're the BEST limbus character/nsrs
clock head and coat, peak character design.
red, yellow, and black color pallette, peak colors.
black (literally black) skin, peak.
most interesting story (please dont view them as a self insert mc i BEG YOU)
has a self destruct button.
ngl im reaching so far with this but what if dante becomes something like white-night because uhdhdnne they technically give the sinners blessings (reviving them), and white-night has the 12 apostles thing, meanwhile dante has 12 sinners (with they, themselves as the 13th). dante can literally be anything since we dont know anything about them in canon,, we dont know if they're a good person or not so maybe jsut maybe they could be the antagonist like joky dshir imageinge dannte w boss imagine how peak the bgm will be omhmcc if in hell we livs lament was alllready so peak what would a dante boss fight ost sound like ohhhh mymvm god.
haha funny tick tick sounds

3 Unique Rhythm Games
okay if you were around recently, you probably saw that I've been raving about the Cassette Beasts OST. and while I like music in general, a good rhythm game always hits the spot
so here are 3 rhythm games with their own takes on the genre!
Soundfall
I played Soundfall by Drastic Games a while ago, in July actually, and I had some pretty good times with it. it's a solid game, with good mechanics, soundtrack, story, and graphics.
it also helps when you can crack jokes about Discord and Discordia.
the uniqueness of the game comes from its gacha mechanic for its equipment and the incentive to attack on-beat (and sometimes off-beat too). because of the on-beat attacks, Soundfall feels really satisfying to play.
music-wise, it's pretty cool. particularly liked the cityscape and ice world music!
though I never adventured into playing character other than the main girl, I liked that the narrative really dives into each of the characters and also aligns them with a genre of music as well as a biome. it was a steady through line that helped make a very cohesive experience
for me, Soundfall creates a pretty good bar for a good action rhythm game
No Straight Roads: Encore Edition
No Straight Roads (NSR) might be the most disappointing of the three, with the highest highs and lowest lows, and the most recently played of the three.
that's to say, I have mixed feelings about this game. the design and the art and the music are all so, so good. but the voice acting and the gameplay just sub-par.
unlike Soundfall, only the enemies attack to the beat of the music. and, in my experience, it wasn't even easy to tell when they were going to attack either. the biggest downfall of this is that I'd always try to act in beat with the song and the game more often punishes you for doing so and calls into question if it could be qualified as a rhythm game in that sense (would it be more accurate to call a music-centric game?)
while the rhythm mechanics were weird, I liked what they were trying to do with each boss's gimmick, such as 1010's one vs many or Eve's weird illusion world, and I feel like that saved the experience a bit
the music, by the way, was outstanding, even when I was too focused on the gameplay to fully appreciate it. especially liked Sayu's and 1010's tracks
as a game, NSR has its flaws, but the music and world/character design provide a mostly enjoyable experience
RHYTHM SPROUT
so I've played Turnip Boy and now I've played Rhythm Sprout
of the three, the food-themed Rhythm Sprout probably has the most conventional mechanics: pink/yellow/blue bars you hit in beat with the music.
with the most conventional mechanics comes the most standard experience: it was pretty good.
my only gripe with it was the trap notes and their proximity to actual notes (cause I honestly couldn't tell if I was hitting the note, the trap, or in between, and therefore couldn't fix my play)
this cutesy game's humour had a few good moments and the writing was good enough to keep me through the story, despite the concepts being pretty standard.
I think the game provides a pretty satisfying experience, though the music mostly wasn't my jam.
from the precise shooting of Soundfall to jamming with each of No Straight Road's artists to chopping sweets in Rhythm Sprout, all three games have great things going for them, so I think they're all worth a play!
As always,
Enjoy gaming!

hi hi peach ! ^_^ ♡ i always loved vs sayu from nsr and was just wonderingg what song off the ost if your favourite ? + what's your inserts opinion on the music scene in vinyl city ?
Hello!!! And hmm, that's a tough one. I'm kinda biased towards DK West Encounter 1 cause hehe well I love hearing Zuke. But I love The Revolution Comes Around and 78RPM! They just really are great songs!
As for Echo's opinion, she shows up after the game events in the main verse, so she's impressed by the new range of music after hearing it was mostly edm. She wasn't really too much of a fan of edm at first, honestly. In an au where she is there before/during the events of the game, she feels constricted by it but keeps her mouth shut most of the time since she's a part of NSR a doesn't want to risk the partnership with NSR and her father. She does get rebellious with her choice in music when it comes to the finale part of her battle, though in this au.

Fuck it I’m bored
Top 5 favourite video games of all time
5. Monster Prom
Initially introduced to me by Twitch Streamer Shenpai, the Monster Prom series has become a favourite among me and my friends, and I’ve fallen in love with the characters and universe (with Zoe in particular probably being in my top 5 characters of all time, a list I might make another time). This series is the source of so many fun memories with my friends (with the first game being my favourite), and it’ll forever be in my heart. In terms of individual games however, Monster Prom doesn’t fully stack up to the others on this list (though it is really good and I recommend it), so in fifth place it goes
4. Kirby’s Return to Dreamland
I was very fortunate as a child that my very first Kirby game ended up being considered one of the best of the entire series. I adored this game as a kid, and it definitely affected me deeply on a psychological level, even to this day. Everything about this game’s artstyle, music, characters, bosses, and powerups still sticks in my brain, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving it. I think Dedede’s design in the remaster is a downgrade, but other than that this game as a whole is flawless.
3. Guilty Gear Strive
Those familiar with my blog know that the Guilty Gear series is one of my greatest passions, almost to a concerning degree. Though I’d already been acquainted with the series before this game, Strive was the one to get me fully into it, and I’ve heavily enjoyed playing it since the moment I bought it. The game’s artstyle and soundtrack is top notch (Daisuke Ishiwatari is a god amongst men), and Strive Leo is one of the most fun fighting game characters I’ve ever played. You may be wondering “why is it only at #3 then?” and the answer to that is similar to Monster Prom’s: I love the entire series more than I love any individual game, so I’m rating it lower on this game ranking than I would on a series ranking (on which it’d definitely be top 2). For now though, Strive holds a respectable spot at #3.
2. No Straight Roads
I love this game man. After hearing of it in passing occasionally online, I saw it was on sale on PS4 and decided to try it. From what I’d seen (basically just the game’s title and a few character designs) I expected a dialogue-heavy visual-novel-type game in which your dialogue choices change the path of the story (hence the name No Straight Roads) but I was dead wrong. What I got instead was an awesome rhythm-based bossfight beat-em-up in which an indie rock band named Bunk Bed Junction fights to overthrow NSR, the tyrannical music label that's taken over their city, featuring a fantastic artstyle, incredible OST, lovable characters, and loads of passion infused in every single aspect. Due to the indie nature of the dev team, some jank can be found in various areas, but I'll always be more than willing to excuse that in exchange for such a wonderful product overall. The game's fairly cheap and available everywhere, and I highly recommend that everyone reading this buys it and supports the dev team. ALSO TO THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW THERE'S A LIMITED TIME OFFICIAL SAYU PLUSH AVAILABLE ON MAKESHIP UNTIL THE 20TH GO BUY IT!!!
1. Final Fantasy X
I don't have an explanation for this one really, it just hit me a certain way. Please ignore the fact that I haven't actually beaten it yet, the Yunalesca fight is too hard and I gave up. Good game though.
