Oubing x Avatar The Last Airbender au ＼(^-^)／ 🔥💧

Nezha the Third Prince of the Fire Nation and Ao Bing the Third Prince of the Eastern (or should I go with Northern?) Water Tribe

this has been on my mind ever since i read that Oubing Avatar au i read on Ao3 🤭 but this version I had in mind is a bit different.

"Long ago the four nations lived together in harmony, then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. (Yeah sorry I think Li Jing is gonna be a bad father to Nezha here, like in the original novel 🫣) Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, can stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.

In the wake of his disappearance, a mysterious event shattered the spirit of the Avatar, splitting it into two separate reincarnations. Now, instead of one Avatar, there are two. Each bears a fragment of the spiritual marking (their chaos pearl marking 😉) and controls a divided set of the elements.

​Li Nezha, the brazen Third Prince of the Fire Nation, was born able to bend fire and earth. Ao Bing, the quiet Third Prince of the Eastern Water Tribe, bends water and air. They are currently just boys, bound by a spiritual echo they do not yet understand. But soon, their intertwined destiny will ignite, forcing them to choose their path and either restore balance or leave the world in ruin."

That's all I have to say for now about this au because I need to get back to studying 🤧🥲😭

thank you!!!! im actually going to hijack this ask to introduce one of the biggest plot changes ive made regarding twilights backstory/the crystal empire :) I’ll hide most of the lore under rhe cut so it doesnt run on for too long

so, first off, these are my cadenza and shining redesigns (plus twilight), they are the current ruling monarchy of the crystal empire !!

And now the potentially biggest part of this change: Twilight and Shining are originally crystal empire residents. Once Sombra took over their parents fled the country with them and immigrated to Canterlot (who at the time was helping house many displaced refugees as a result of Sombra). Twilight was about 6 when this happened and Shining was 16.

So, since this au is a lot more grounded in reality, I adjusted the backstory of the crystal empire to reflect that. The crystal empire falls under sombras rule as a result of colonisation and stays as such for about 5 years until he is overthrown by the uprising of a rebellion.

Cadenza was at the forefront of the rebellion and is their main strategist as well as a competent fighter. Shining returned to the crystal empire in order to assist the rebellion and was a key factor in the successful downfall of Sombra. Over the years Cadenza and Shining spent fighting for their country back they eventually fell in love, choosing to marry shortly after everything had settled down.

(Note: Cadenza and Shining were originally set up for an arranged marriage and were friends as teenagers, which is the main driving reason for why Shining returned to the empire despite his parents objections)

After the rebellion successfully overthrew (executed) Sombra, the crystal empire elected Cadenza as their queen — their previous royal family having been slain by Sombra. As seen in the picture, Shining sustains an injury that permanently disables him and requires him to use a cane and do frequent physiotherapy in order to maintain his remaining mobility.

Despite Shining marrying Cadenza and staying permanently in the crystal empire, twilight (then age 11) and her parents chose to stay in Canterlot so as not to uproot twilights life a second time. Although they do frequently travel back and forth to the crystal empire to both visit and attend important events (since theyre all technically pseudo-royalty now and the crystal empire is desperate for a royal family)

So thats the bulk of twilights backstory changes, sorry i stole her participation in the war away from her … but dont worry shes going to get her moment later on as an adult ;)

Dr. Li (Nezha), a paleontologist, was one of the leader in this expedition who joined along after hearing frequent reports of strange unidentified bone fragments found in the location the party was at…

Little did they know this expedition would soon turn into a year long excavation involving the discovery of a legendary beast—the loong, thought to have only existed in myths only.

And not only that, an unexpected survivor who has taken the disguise as a human to blend in with the crowd.

What happened to the loongs and the forgotten city? That is for the oubings to find out ♥️
