Two days ago I decided not to compete at the competition I've been training for since April. I'm moving to Wisconsin on Sept 7th [WestCoastMeetsMidwest.wordpress.com] and there's simply not enough time to pack, go through Peak Week, and compete. I'm still recovering from my exercise-induced airway inflammation (read: running-induced cough and cold). I am disappointed and sad, and yet I know I'm not where I need to be compared to last year (shown here). For a few days I debated trying to push through it. I sat in my car in the gym parking lot at 5am feeling drippy and gross and thought, "I *could* do this, but *should* I?" This, my friends, is the gray area of safety. Ultimately I decided I can keep training with my eyes set on NPC Badger State competition Oct 21st. That should give me the time I need to get healthy, move cross-country, and get in the shape I need to be in for competition.
