Thanks for asking! This is for a prompt that @quidnunc-life left (probably somewhere be_compromised related) many, many moons ago. The summary is:

Clint Barton, ex-Olympian, is the owner of Hawkeyes - a cafe, coffee shop, food type place on the ground floor of his apartment building. Natasha Romanova, restaurant critic, is fully prepared to give Hawkeyes the worst review in the history of reviews from the minute she walks in and trips over the damn dog.

The reason this one is a WIP aka why I'm stuck is because it grew too many branches and I've lost the point. I need to decide what that should be, do some pruning of what doesn't fit, and re-write it. There's currently 9,000 words written but I think a lot of it just needs to go.

Snippet:

Natasha pauses at the bottom of the steps to consider the café’s chalkboard sign sitting right in the middle at eye level. 'OPEN' it says in a white, fancy font. 'STILL' has been added above it by a less neat hand and 'NO REALLY' underneath in a different colour. Below that is a drawing of a smiling coffee cup. Natasha doesn't smile back.

So… I already have like 70 Sterek fic tabs open on my phone (there’s so many good authors in this fandom it’s not my fault!) but I was thinking that despite some fantastic tumblr posts about it I don’t think I’ve actually read a necromancer!Stiles fic.

I went through your fabulous tag page but I didn’t see one so hopefully I didn’t miss it. If you or your loverly followers have any recs I sure would appreciate it!

One thing he’s still not used to, however, is Stiles Stilinski.

Ooooh boy lessee.

1. A Muscle the Size of Your Fist. This story is basically all the different things that made me who I am spilled onto paper and I just think it’s neat. I’m so proud of it, in fact, that I’ve let a couple irl people read (an edited smut-free version of) it.

2. If It’s A Highway. I think this contains some of the best writing I’ve ever done.

3. Sweet Home Was Home. There are parts of this I’d rewrite if I could, but I really love it overall, especially the ending. It’s a warm cozy hug and also a therapy session of a fic.

4. The One Where Clint Goes to Preschool. Love all the marshmallows to death but this one in particular is near and dear to my heart; I think this was both @noxnthea and I writing to our strengths. It’s funny as fuck but also heartfelt/soft.

5. The List. Last item was difficult to choose but this one is very different from what I usually do, so. Yeah. Pure sweetness, but also, this is like the writing equivalent of minimalism, which does not come naturally to me.

Recs: the best Clint/Bucky fics with under 200 kudos

I just finished combing through the entire Clint Barton/Bucky Barnes tag on AO3 sorted by kudos, which got to be a bit of a slog toward the end, but there were some delightful underappreciated gems buried in the mud. so I decided to share some favorites!

D.I.Y. (Demons In You), by @redteamshark (38k) Clint and Bucky are renovating their new house, Clint is a YouTuber posting progress videos about the renovations, turns out the house is haunted. this one was the inspiration for this list, because based on the quality, length, and posting timeframe, I would expect this to have about 700-1000 kudos, and it has FIFTY-SIX. WHY. it's an engaging AU concept, the plot and relationship arcs are well-executed, it has fewer copyedit-level issues than some of the hugely popular fics, it hits good emotional beats, it's got fun minor character cameos, the HGTV-style home reno details are great. that kudos total is a cosmic error that requires rectification, pls assist

don't care what you did (as long as you love me), by veryrach/@mightymightygnomepriest (21k) a job goes wrong and Clint needs money fast, so he gets a job as "the blond one" for all the boybands in a '90s tribute act, supervised by a mysterious hot bodyguard. super fun but not actually crack-level ridiculous, it mostly plays the premise pretty straight, and at the end it does something interesting with the framing device that my will-they-or-won't-they dopamine response liked very much :D

A Muscle The Size Of Your Fist, by @there-must-be-a-lock (99k) in which Clint and Natasha are trailer park neighbors in 2008, Nat invites him to see her band play, and he meets Bucky in the pit by elbowing him in the face. lots of bandom nostalgia and ~emo kid~ feels in this one

Aw, Blood, No, by @reremouse (19k) Clint gets turned into a vampire and Bucky drags him out on a cross-country road trip to avoid the SHIELD agents trying to imprison him. featuring "blood-lover's pizza" and Tony's Malibu mansion with a private cove full of cars piled up underwater for the Aesthetics
