SNAP! A flash of light, and a snapshot taken at the right time. Peter was standing on a window ledge, making sure to get the best angle. Without a watch, Peter was completely unaware of what time it was or if he should be in a lesson. In all honesty, Peter didn't overly care either. Nor did he imagine his professors did, Peter barely contributed anything remarkable to the class other than a few backhanded comments.
About to step down off the ledge, Peter's foot caught in the strap of his rucksack that was sitting by his feet. Tumbling onto the ground, his camera lens smashing across the floor. "Bludgering fuck-"

who: open to anyone @noxstarters where: hogwarts library
Plants ever-growing within the greenhouse, her dorm room filled with them, or as much as she dared her dorm mates to handle, every now and then even someone as enthusiastic about herbology as her had to sit down and study. Quill scribbling away at the parchment, with small pauses in between whenever she needed to look up a fact or a name, Penelope found herself in the library like many other students. The witch had been humming for several minutes by the time she noticed the sound coming from herself. With a sigh she glanced around, meeting eyes nearby.
"Please tell me I didn't disturb you all too much! I didn't even notice the humming. I suppose that's a sign that it's enough studying for one day, hm?" Weekend or not, studying meant sorting her future which now went far beyond the wish to own a little shop in Hogsmeade. Despite everything, the summer had still been spent with as much time as possible dedicated to her little summer-lasting job at Dogweed and Deathcap. "Working on an essay?"

Lucian's head was feeling overloaded after a rather unhappy letter from his parents. They were unimpressed - yet again - because his grades weren't up to expectations. Or more accurately, they weren't as good as his brother's had been. Hoping to forget about it, he went for a wander around the grounds.
Lucian looked behind him as he walked, thinking he heard someone calling his name. Seeing no one he recognised, he turned back around, walking straight into someone else. "Oof--" he grunted, holding out his hands to steady the other person. "My apologies," he said with a lopsided grin. Looking down sheepishly, he spotted a flower and picked it, holding it out to them. "Forgive me."

where: gryffindor common room. who: open.
Sybill wasn’t opposed to parties, she just didn’t know how to interact with drunk people. They always seemed to be all over the place, some were sloppy, some were all over each other — ick — and some wouldn’t stop talking. It also was awkward that Sybill didn’t drink. Another reason she was odd, she supposed, but it didn’t vibe with who she was. She was actually a little worried about what would happen if she were to drink considering she was clairvoyant and figured as clear a mind as ever would be a smart plan.
But again, didn’t oppose parties. On the one side all those weird things but on the other there was laughter and smiles and hugs and love being shown. That is what she lived for so her smile couldn’t leave her face.
Everyone’s a little -- " she swayed her hair back and forth, "but look so happy, don’t you think?"

Who: Open Where: Gryffindor Common Room
ted was stood by one of the windows just watching everyone enjoy the party. he let out a contented sigh. he loved his family, he really did, but there was nothing like being at hogwarts. he wasn't ready for this to be his last year here but he was determined to enjoy every minute of it. ted was dragged out of his thoughts by someone bumping in to him and dropping a little of their drink of him. "y'know if you wanted me to share your drink, you just had to ask" a teasing, amused smile rising on his face.

Where: Gryffindor Common Room; party Who: Open
Peter sat by an open window that was tucked a little away from the noise, taking a break from the party. He took a drag from the cigarette staring off at nothing in particular just lost in thought. Smoke billowed out around him as he exhaled watching it as it disappeared. As he took another puff a noise from behind startled him causing him to cough on his inhale nearly dropping the cigarette, he managed to catch it but not before burning himself on the lit end. “Bollocks,” he muttered between coughs moving the smoke to his uninjured hand shaking out the other trying to take out some of the sting. “Merlin, don’t sneak up on a bloke like that.”
It was far from graceful, but that was usual for Peter, never very coordinated when he was startled, or well most of the time. “Needed a bit of a break from all the frivolity as well?” he asked, cocking his head to the side. He sometimes started to feel a bit overwhelmed when in a large group, and felt it was easy to slip out, who would really notice his absence? Only his few friends and he had seen that they were otherwise engaged in different antics and he could go unnoticed.

Perched on a windowsill in the Gryffindor stairwell, Dorcas watched as the ash fell from the end of her cigarette and drifted into the cold September air. It was a combination of laziness and being too tipsy to make the journey down to the courtyard for a smoke. Dorcas was in her own world, enjoying the slight buzz of alcohol and the nip of the air against her skin.
Humming contently, Dorcas was only alerted to another person's presence when she heard something drop beside her. "Merlin," Dorcas jumped, suddenly aware of her surroundings. "Do you always try to scare the daylights out of people? Or is this a newly developed hobby?"

where: the crowd at the ball. who: open; @noxstarters.
Dahlia was in a better mood than anticipated. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that she came with Alecto. It gave her a boost of self confidence that Alecto would show up with her. It's not that they were a couple of any kind, but going with the main person she looked up to was brilliant.
At this particular time, Alecto was chatting with people she was expected to interact with. Although Dahlia was in a better mood than normal, she didn't want to be connected to Alecto's hip the entire time. It would cramp both their styles. Instead, she decided to see who she could find on her own. She hoped for people willing to fight for the cause. It would be interesting if there was anyone from Ilvermorny who had ideas regarding the upcoming war.
As she walked among the crowd she was stopped by someone. This was her chance. "And how are you this evening?"

where: under a tree near the black lake when: just after lunchtime @noxstarters
pandora was most definitely not where she was supposed to be - if her timing was correct then she was sure her history of magic class was about to begin, but instead of being shoved away in a stuffy classroom listening to a boring teacher whom pandora swore was asleep once while teaching, she was laid up under a tree, enjoying the rare warm day.
that was until a giant shadow blocked her enjoyment of the sun, and she peeked one eye open, mildly irritated. "if you think i'm skipping class, i am not. i am simply enjoying the sun," she states as a matter of fact. "is that such a crime?"

where: great hall end of dinner. who: open; @noxstarters.
It's not that it took Molly that much longer than others to finally pick her area of study, but she hadn't wanted to pick something willy nilly just so she could say she was studying something. Not that there was anything wrong with universal studies in the long run. She thought she would. But through those classes she discovered her love of charms and how skilled she was. It was a pleasant surprise.
At dinner Molly told her brothers before anyone else. The two immediately made it a huge deal. They made sure everyone knew their little sister had decided on an area of study and was going to be a "charm master." Molly liked attention but they were ridiculous and she had to hide her face. People were excited for her but she was flustered.
"Thank you," she responded to a young Gryffindor. When she turned around she was surprised to see someone sitting close on the other side of her. "Oh. Hi there. You don't have to..."

Where: Great Hall Who: Open
Study period was something Amos hated. There was nothing worse than been forced to concentrate in complete silence in the Great Hall for an hour. Amos was much more of a study in the comfort of his room person, preferably with Elrond curled up, purring in his sleep next to him. He had been at least attempting to get some of the essay done, but he just couldn't concentrate in this environment. When Amos felt penned in like this. It was when he wanted to create the most chaos. He took a new piece of parchment, scribbled down a quick note with a smirk. Folding it into a paper aeroplane, before sneakily aiming it towards his friend further down the the table.

where: shrieking shack. who: open; @noxstarters.
It may have been chilly out but Indi didn't care. Her goosebumps were covered by the leaves she grew to create her costume. And the parts that weren't covered, well, it was worth it to look so damn good. But as the night progressed she finally decided to use a warming charm to surround herself. Sure she could have done it sooner, but she wanted to bad ass it as long as she could. The warmth was lovely. She stood there, in the middle of Hogsmeade soaking it up. "Ah, yes," she whispered to herself as the leaves perked up. She truly was a walking Poison Ivy.
Indi considered the Three Broomsticks. No. the Leaky Cauldron. Interesting but no. Honeydukes. Nah. The Shrieking Shack. Hm. Sure. But she had no one to go with. She decided to apparate and see if anyone was there she could attach herself to.
Bam! Apparate!
Ah, there she was. And just as she hoped. "I'm here on my lonesome. Mind some company?" she asked, her leaves blowing in the wind.

an open starter for anyone death eater-aligned where: the hallow's eve fair what: regarding the latest hogwarts howl update on the situation at gringott's bank
The greatest benefit to a party, especially one involving those young and dumb enough to lose themselves to it, was the guarantee that none of them would know when something truly important was being discussed around them by their betters. Leaning towards someone she knew had their head attached correctly, she pretended it was nothing more than a moment of gossip. "Shame about Gringott's. I wouldn't have expected it to get much media attention at all, you know. Bit of a shocker, it was. Didn't think so many people would care."

where: dueling club
who: open @noxstarters
they'd all broken up into pairs and were working on offensive spells. ludo didn't want to be in dueling club - he was rather shifty with a wand and a lot of the time, it ended up doing the opposite of what he wanted. while his wand made it's home in his hand at the age of 11, he had always felt that he failed to feel the connection so many witches and wizards talked about upon receiving it. but alas, his parents insisted - something weird was going on, and he needed to be able to protect himself. there was an odd number of duelers tonight, so ludo happily sat on the sidelines as he watches his peers battle back and forth against one another. he was assigned practice with the dummy, thankfully, though he mostly spent his time babbling to it and telling it about his quidditch plans. "alright, let's give it a go, then." he sighs eventually, running out of things to talk about. raising his wand, ludo points it tentatively at the wooden dummy, clearing his throat. "stupefy!" he calls out, and after a moment, his wand fizzes for a split second. "huh?" confused, the young man smacks the side of his wand with his other hand, a few more sparks flying out before fizzing out once more. "bloody useless," he looks at the tip of the wand, pointing it towards his eye. "what's the point of -" not a second later was there a large blast, and ludo is sent backwards into the wall with a thud.

where: corridor (take your pick). who: open; @noxstarters.
It was getting chilly outside but Sybill wanted to take a walk. She had been in her room studying for hours and hours and her legs needed a good stretch. Instead of facing the chill, she decided to walk the castle. It had been some time since she had done so. She used to do it quite frequently but hadn't as she got older. Her studies became more and more intense as she grew up.
Wandering the halls she watched the portraits move here and there, talking to each other, talking to her. She laughed along with them and scoffed when appropriate. Her favorite part of wandering came when the staircases moved. It was almost like she was at the fair that she had gone to with her parents. They took her somewhere new.
As the stairs moved, she reached the top and bumped into someone, laughing. "I'm so sorry. These stairs, you know?"

when: 28 October 1978 where: Hogsmeade Hallows Eve Fair who: Eavan and OPEN! @noxstarters
Eavan was not having a good time at the Hallows Eve fair. She hadn’t expected to, really, but she’d known she’d have to attend anyway; it was too big a social event to pass on. So here she was, at a pointless carnival, in a carefully curated costume that not enough people fully appreciated, surrounded by drunkards, and cold. Still, she acted like she was enjoying herself, perusing the fair, sampling drinks, chatting with acquaintances. Practice makes perfect, afterall, and she’d been playing her part for quite a while now.
It wasn’t until someone stumbled into her, and spilled most of their beer down her dress in the process, that Eavan’s irritation slipped out. An Irish phrase that her mother probably would have preferred she hadn’t learned from her father escaped Eavan’s lips in a hiss as she grabbed a nearby napkin to dab at her chest. When she felt someone’s eyes on her, she didn’t bother to disguise her irritation. She looked up with a sharp glare. “If you’re expecting a show, I promise you couldn’t afford the entry fee.”
