I'm so sad MFFMHH is over, but man did I love it!

Firstly, I love that this whole experience gave her an unexpected chance to get closer with Lin. I think that the reader having that realization that she never knew Lin felt that way connected the whole emotional arc she went through to understand how she's maybe been pushing love and family away in more than one form. And that her overall healing is not a matter of just swapping Namjoon out for Taehyung. "For the first time, you’re starting to see family as something you have to build." That line will stay with me! I thought it was so well-crafted to include this subplot as part of the story.

I definitely feel like we got the Taehyung redemption arc I was looking for! I'm so glad they had this conversation. Without putting the actual term to it, I think they were both able to realize that their relationship was a bit co-dependent, which is completely understandable given that they bonded through trauma, but wasn't healthy to sustain. I also really appreciated that while at the beginning of the story it felt a little bit like the reader was the one who clung to Taehyung, he ended up realizing how much he relied on her to cling to him right back. He was relying on her for his emotional needs, and neglecting his chance at finding love just as much! And I think it was really important for reader's closure to be able to hear him admit this. I also appreciated how realistic it was that after they made up, they didn't easily fall back into a regular pattern of friendship and things remained a bit distanced and awkward. Especially because these two really don't share a lot of common interests like Namjoon and reader, they don't have a lot to fall back on and have to rebuild their friendship from scratch. I love that we got to see a few moments of them navigating this new way of being, and that it was left a bit open-ended whether or not they will ever be able to be "best" friends again.

And finally... not Namjoon casually having a whole plan, founded on extensive research, inside of his head for their future that he just assumed they were on the same page about. If that isn't the most Namjoon behavior.

Congrats on completing another great series, Jo! I know you have some other small things in WIP, but hope you enjoy a much-deserved break for a bit. I'm sure Bangtan will give us plenty of things to scream together about in the meantime.

-first of all, the corgina scene at the very beginning was PRICELESS. tiff and corkie had it DOWN until tiff lost her cool. i was DYING. casey wilson invented the word “fuck.”

-marcus/dawn and connie/mo double date. this whole scene had me CACKLING. marcus being such a comrade was not at all what i expected. the three-on-one connie smackdown i could not BREATHE. also includes classic moments such as “we’re doing black shit right now keith” and regina stealing every scene she’s in. also WOMEN xosha roquemore (connie) in dark lipstick is the best part of s2 prove me wrong

-also kind of out of order but dawn calling mo her best friend did not sit right... like in my soul. it’s like inherently wrong. so STRANGE to hear her say that.

-but connie sucks at being subtle lmfao dawn was not having any of that 

-“i can’t vote. im a felon” just out of nowhere GOD. and the fact that that’s the first time dawn’s learning that mo went to prison is fucked up. i’ve never seen a woman want a man to shut up so badly, and i’ve never been so glad that said man did not shut up lmfao

-tiff and blair’s apartment looks so good yes god!! also this season keeps referencing blair’s parents and it’s kind of putting me on edge. especially since next episode is “blair [being] forced to revisit his past.” on another note, andrew’s voice in this scene is SO FUNNY. you can tell he’s a voice actor i think

-also like we knew blair was into older men but now we like know lmfao. the richard gere jokes had LAYERS these writers outsold

-ok blair&tiff’s relationship... yikes. i cannot tell what the writers want their relationship to be. are they unhealthy and toxic and bad to each other? or are they platonic soulmates and life partners? make up your MIND, showtime.

-DON’T INFANTILIZE THE CUP BYE KJDFHGDFKJ

-first blarris scene was TENSE. acting good

-the confirmation that roger has kids... i mean i suspected it from the moment tuc’s character was announced in september but it makes the ending so much more painful. i KNOW that’s the only reason why they pushed the fact that the harrises are parents in this episode, bc it was never confirmed earlier.

-i hate how funny michael hitchcock is. im trying to hate newell but im laughing. why are his lines so funny who wrote this. 

-the sound design in this episode was a lot to take in. the music was intense asf and it stays intense throughout the whole ep

-keith cracking onto blair and trying to reconcile with him bc he’s feeling empathetic but blair shutting him down... can’t say keith doesn’t deserve it but i would’ve loved to have seen keith and blair just talk about being closeted and having affairs and shit.

-THE TRUMP CHILDREN LMFAOOOO they all look so smug the casting was great this ep

-mo shit talking connie TO HER FACE bc he knows connie can’t give up the act... fucking priceless i love to see it acab

-the wording on the “you’re with the FBI?” line is so perfect. bc it makes it totally sound like dawn’s onto mo and connie when really she’s just like “you’re siding with the FBI bitch?” highkey genius line

-roger’s got a point, if he supports his campaign fund manager right off the bat, he’ll look like a total fraud and his career will be over. the fact that blair barely gives a shit really speaks to what his character has become. “fuck them” what a classic line

-ANDREW’S ACTING!!! his voice when he says “you use me” ugh i felt that in my chest. plus roger looking away after he says that... i mean god this cast is so talented

-blair snapping god. he’s got a point, he and roger have been dysfunctional asf all season. doesn’t justify threatening to out somebody AT ALL but finally hearing some emotion out of blair, a little bit of anger and frustration, it’s refreshing.

-does “who are you, blair?” count as a parallel to “who are you, pfaff?” from 1x01?

-blair outing roger to newell... yikes. again ooc and bad. blair’s a shitty guy but we’ve seen him have empathy before, even in s2. why would they make him do this i don’t get it.

-keith finding out about lenny is good. maybe something will finally come of this arc?

-parallel to 2x02 with blair mentioning his mom’s phrase, cool. probably gearing us up for more references to his parents next ep, culminating in a flashback to his childhood in 2x10.

-this scene where the trump kids are destroying everything is classic. you can genuinely tell that everybody there was having so much fun shooting that. idk, it’s nice.

-trump reveal HA what a great end to that scene

-keith coming by and fucking everything up... i mean i guess everybody KNOWS now. dawn/marcus is over (good) and dawn is probably right pissed at mo rn. but hey, fuck em all resurgence!!! ive been waiting for it and now it’s here!

-im scared, what’s connie gonna do? fuck cops

-“that’s a long way to go just to get a dig in” “it was a stretch but-” see what happens when you’re a narc? you lose your wit :/ sad! nice exit line from connie tho

-CW SUICIDE MENTION. ok time to talk about what definitely needs to be talked about. god this has had my chest hurting all day yesterday. i knew blarris would be outed eventually bc sho likes to milk every plot point for every bit of drama they can get out of it, but i did not expect roger to take his life. and blair finding him is just devastating. i said this on twt, but the fact that somebody could be so overwhelmed with internalized homophobia that being outed could cause them to commit suicide is so incredibly and deeply sad to me. i’ve been crying for a while over that fact. 

im just. im really sad. i’ve connected so much with these characters over the past two-ish years and this is such a devastating turn of events. i have no words. it isn’t bad writing or ooc by any means, it’s just so extremely and incredibly sad. there are probably thousands of people who have been in roger’s exact position before, and the realism really hits me hard. i can’t put into words how overwhelming sad this makes me. 

also pretty upset that this came as a COMPLETE shock to me and all my friends. we all watched on the sho streaming service, which did not have the “viewer discretion advised” card before the ep. the premier did, but the episode on the app did not. i really REALLY wish they had added that before i had seen the episode so i could prepare myself, even if just slightly. also wish they had added a suicide hotline number at the end. 

seeing blair grieve his loss is going to hurt but it’s probably going to give us closure too. i think about this show all the time, and now thinking about it makes me so overwhelmingly sad. i sound dramatic but this show has been with me for so long. not being able to see much of blair’s reaction beside the initial shock has been haunting me. im so scared for what the future episodes are going to bring.

sleep deprived s5 thoughts, mostly Tory centric of course but also things that stuck out to me for better or worse.

I did not like a lot about the first half of the season ngl. It felt ... messy? But not in the way things are usually messy on this show lol. The second half though DAMN it really picked up.

I’m so confused about the passage of time this season because first of all, there’s no way Silver got all these dojos up and operational in less than a month, so to me there has to be at least that long between the end of s4 and the start of s5, but the timing is so tight bc the tournament was at the end of the school year and a lot of things happen towards the beginning of summer. How long were Miguel, Johnny, and Robby in Mexico? No fucking idea but it had to be a couple of weeks, right? And then in the middle of the season I feel like there was another sort of time jump that kind of?? Flew too much under the radar?? Like it’s obvious more time passes but they don’t make it clear how much.

The Johnny and Robby interactions in Mexico were the best thing about the first half of the season, full stop.

Tory got like 30 seconds to smile and be happy and then the rest of the season was her being put through hell nonstop. I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I mean it’s basically what I did to her all of February this year so I can’t say it’s too much but they really could not give my girl a break and seeing her go through a lot of this shit was rough.

They did validate my Soft Girl Tory headcanons though so I’m living for that. Sensei Kim uses that against her because of course.

I have a lot of thoughts about the waterpark. I feel like they really tried to rush through the conflict between Tory and Robby about her still being in Cobra Kai too fast. Like, he shows up, they’re happy and cute and then a minute later out of nowhere he’s like “you need to leave Cobra Kai” and Tory is ????? It just felt like they tried to force the tension there too fast, it would have made more sense for that conversation to happen after the first (almost) fight between the dojos since that did spark a little tension about Kenny, too. Which y’all know I love the nervous karate parent energy so I wasn’t mad about it and them basically fighting over custody of their karate son sends me lmfao. I do like that those two were the ones trying to stop the fights most of the time though, even if they were kind of in an argument, she and Robby still supported each other in that, and it’s the first time we can see Tory’s really starting to move away from the Cobra Kai mentality or trying to on an internal basis post-tournament, though she isn’t always the best at executing that in practice. Also this whole thing about them breaking up because of Cobra Kai and then getting back together later is exactly what Cali and I did with them, just with the roles reversed so I’m waiting for my money in the mail. No joke a lot of the things that Tory said to him were almost verbatim things that Cali’s Robby said to my Tory back when we were breaking them up.

Love that I got HawkTory sibling rivalry bits at the waterpark I will hold on to those snarky little interactions with my LIFE. Also the fact that they raced each other, yeah that feels right lmfaoooo

Kenny has gone full bully this season and while I think yeah they were right to lean into that, they also should have shown more conflict in him at least in the first half where he’s still processing Robby leaving and the fact that one of the people he trusted most now has now turned against him and their dojo. I think after what they’ve been through, Robby’s word should matter more to Kenny.

Love Sam’s little arc of finding herself and finally admitting that she wasn’t okay. Sam and Miiguel having their “besties” era but still being obviously into each other made me like them a little more as a ship but that shit at the party felt so ... unnecessary?? I do like that we got a moment of maturity from Sam about it though and it shows how far she’s come this season but I think there were better ways to do that. It felt ooc for Miguel to do that too imo, like I get it was meant to be a parallel to when Tory saw him kiss Sam and showing how differently Sam reacted because of how different her relationship with Miguel is compared to how Tory’s relationship with Miguel was, but the thing is that was a drunken kiss between two people with a lot of feelings for each other after a ton of mutual pining and this one was just???? So fucking random???? And stupid lmao??? If the implication is that Miguel wants to try to get back with Sam when she’s ready then wHY have him do this other than more unnecessary couple drama???

The fucking octopus necklace runner stole my heart though that was so cute and then sad and then cute again and then sad again and then, finally, cute once more. And honestly I think in spite of that little weird drama at the end of the season I’m behind them again.

In general I feel like it was good for the older teens to have a break from the romance drama and figure some shit out for themselves, and I do like that both of the couples did get back together at the end bc really I feel like they’re all in better places now and also I just want to see all of my babies on the show happy, sue me. Now let’s never have pointless romance drama again please dear god.

They keep making Johnny look stupid as hell and I hate it. Also the whole pregnancy storyline is random and does not need to be there. Really it’s a fucking slap in the face to Robby and the fact that they write him as being immediately happy about it doesn’t?? Feel right to me??? Johnny readily admitting things like “yeah I didn’t even go to one of Robby’s appointments” and we watch him do EVERYTHING for this baby when it took him almost 18 years to show up for the son that he’s always had???? They either treat Johnny like a first time dad or have him directly contrast his behavior to how he was with Robby and it doesn’t show the “growth” that they wanted it to show, it just makes him look like more like an asshole and frankly Robby deserves better from this show than being treated like those 18 years of neglect didn’t fucking happen.

Daniel went through so much this season oh my fucking god. Cali and I were right, they really spent most of this season torturing Daniel and Tory alsfdlfdkjs

I loved the Mike Barnes twist it was so damn out of pocket lmfaoooooo and then later he acts like a fucking serial killer and I’m here for unhinged Barney the Karatesaur.

Loved Tory and Devon bonding over their moms and Tory trying to get Devon to stay away from Cobra Kai. I know the circumstances are different in the show but that’s one thing I feel like is also particularly accurate to my Tory because she’s always trying to get people to get away from that place but hasn’t really been able to explain why to anyone because of all the shame she holds.

Tory’s win playing a big part of Silver’s marketing of Cobra Kai and him showing her off to people, meaning more people join because of her and she feels guilty about it? Absolutely. Another thing I feel like is also super accurate to how I write Tory. She holds so much guilt about not coming forward and staying in CK as long as she did because if she would have exposed Silver earlier none of this would have happened.

Kreese manipulating Tory into staying in Cobra Kai so he can get back at Silver. Loved that. It shows that even if Kreese does care about Tory in his own way, he’s not above using her, and she’s starting to question him and realize that yeah, she’s still just a piece on the board between these two men. The fact that she goes to him multiple times practically BEGGING him to give her permission to stop this and to leave because it’s cost her everything that matters to her, but he keeps convincing her to stay and promising her that it’ll all be worth it and not for nothing, but THEN the bastard changes his mind the moment Daniel and Johnny piss him off?? Meaning that Tory went through all of this shit the past 2 months(?) and it doesn’t matter anymore?? What she went through doesn’t mean shit to him since his long game has been ruined??? What a fucking knife to the heart for her.

Tory being worried about Daniel even if we were robbed of direct interactions between them (I’m suing btw) and questioning Kreese because she feels like Daniel got hurt because of her sending those notes.

Yeah my stupid little gremlin brain ate up every single one of those tiny Tory and Robby moments when they were broken up. Tory asking Kreese to let her leave because she’s having to lie to “someone she cares about” and it shows Robby, then later Robby getting genuinely choked up telling Daniel about “some others that I care about in Cobra Kai too” and that that's why they need to stop CK. People accusing Tory of choosing Robby over Cobra Kai when her loyalty is in doubt. Robby being the first person to know something is wrong when Tory is late for the fight (and eventually doesn’t show at all). Robby showing up to Cobra Kai telling everyone he never should have left them behind there, though it feels like he’s trying to get that across to Kenny and Tory more. Silver getting everyone to say they will show Robby no mercy if he shows up there again but TORY WON’T FUCKING SAY IT. Robby instantly asking Tory about her injured hand before anything else when no one else noticed she was hurt except Sam, who saw it unwrapped earlier. Them making probation jokes and stupid little grins at each other!!! The way he stood by her in front of Silver!!! And then the reunion where they’re both like “yeah we should apologize to each other” but everyone’s emotionally exhausted and Tory’s like “nah maybe just kiss me rn” which yeah that’s them sfjfdskjlfdljk

That scene where they’re punishing Tory with the concrete and Kim is taunting Tory and she breaks down is so fucking important to me it deserves it’s own post, which will come later. This is also the first time we EVER see Tory shed tears in the show.

Feel like Sam and Robby also needed a chance to actually address some things before instantly being friends again. Genuinely I love their friendship so much but we should have gotten at least a little “sorry we kinda broke each others hearts huh” moment or something. Could have even been the same convo where she’s asking him to come talk to Daniel in his Miyagi intervention, but that would have given away the surprise of Robby showing up so I guess I get why they didn’t have a scene like that.

Robby hurt Miguel in a blind rage by accident in s2, Miguel actually stopped and thought about intentionally hurting Robby the same way and while he didn’t and it was an interesting character moment for them both, the two things are not comparable and I will physically fight anyone who tries to use this against Robby as a character. Fuck this fandom and it’s constant discourse around these two that insists on demonizing whoever they like least, same goes for the constant Sam and Tory discourse.

Second guild war — hypothetically,,,, if there were an itasakushi era sometime in the history of men falling on their feet for sakura, i believe the itasakushi would have developed in the course of this war, although they may have been acquainted with each other earlier. common enemy: danzo, and what better way to wreak havoc and violence than to have him die by the hands of this (im calling it) legendary trio (but that’s also because im quite invested in them). the five-year captivity is also a huge plus because i imagine shisui and itachi running around like headless chickens looking for the apple of their cursed uchiha eyes

quick question (if it’s not a spoiler) - which naruto characters would fall under thundersins? ibiki is the guildmaster, so does that mean his guild is composed of t&i people? im not quite sure who (in the naruto-verse) can get fooled by danzo into waging this war…

First guild war — can u tell us who was the mage who killed a witch? who was the witch? what were they fighting about??? was it a serious badass battle? were they secretly friends?? lovers??? did danzo have anything to do with this??? or maybe hanzo??? HOLY SHIT WOULD THE AME CHARACTERS BE INVOLVED HERE??? AKATSUKI??? but it’s ok if it’s still a secret… we can go detective on this one

speaking of ame and the other nations in the canonverse — will they also be part of this au? i mean we’ve already seen suna folks in OL&W but maybe like chojuro from kiri and other notable characters from the other hidden villages?

And to the violent era — using canonverse as basis, this would most likely be the counterpart of the hashirama-madara founding a village arc and/or the period before that, since they were also just fighting to death and using child soldiers. but actually im more curious about the guild wars than this era unless something dramatic happened lol other than the self-indulging satisfaction of blood thirst 🤣🤣🤣 im just really more invested when sakura is around. i would say tho, the lore is still interesting because im quite curious as to why the beginning is violent? was it because the gods had a fallout and all they really knew was to be violent about it? if it’s something similar, i’m getting a little bit of mythology-percy jackson vibes (which i LOVE) so Y A Y

Ok so!!!! Thundersins would consist mainly of non clan people in Nart. So, Lee, Tenten, Gai, Anko, Genma, ect. Though, we won’t be seeing Gai, Genma, or Anko until much, much later :) Though, Shisui is a part of the Thundersins guild, because he’s just more suited for assassinations rather than wizarding.

so basically, i'm just kind of putting people wherever i think they'd be suited best!

Danzo himself is a tricky bastard and at the time of GW2, Thundersins is still a relatively “new” guild, and they’re mainly human at this point, meaning that they were the weakest guild. It mostly comes down to the fact that Danzo, the manipulative asshole, was able to get their aid. He kept the entire kidnapping a secret for years (i’m estimating at least fifty or so) because the war and then it came to light by some spies or sum

As for the first guild war LMFAO i have absolutely no idea at all which mage killed what witch, i didn’t really think about it tbh! Maybe it was one of sakura’s bullies,,, LMAO honestly? I’ll leave all of that lore to you!!! I like keeping some details vague just so readers can take it and RUN AHAHAHHA. So yeah! Maybe they were lovers! And the entire killing was an accident! Who knows!

THE VIOLENT ERA! And yes! So, this is basically the time where the Living are the most… animalistic? Especially since the gods’ “fallout” as you call it! Thepheria served as a balance to both Peace and War, she is Balance in the very sense of the word so… if something happens to her, the entire world goes into cause and it can take a long time for it to find equilibrium!

Nothing huge happened here, this was like the “stone age” of this world and very self indulgent with the whole savagery of it, but also highlighting that deep, deep down these Living (and humans) are angry and violent at their cores. Its their roots and no matter how they progress, it will always come back to war and bloodshed.
