Yesterday, there were like 3 j2 interviews released, today there’s been some more, it’s been a flood. The boys are looking handsome and beautiful, Jared got a haircut and I am screaming but he looks soooo goood!
I do have some thoughts so let’s get into them...
quick preface this post is only about j2 so i’m not including their tvline interview were they talk about the final episodes in this that will get its own post
The Talk:
There were some technical problems with Jensen so the interview was almost all solo Jared.
He talked about the final day of shooting and said that while he expected to cry he just felt proud ❤
He was asked if there was a moment he knew he had a “brother for life” in Jensen and Jared started by sharing how they met and instantly clicked with both being Texan boys and having so many things in common followed by bringing up how they got jumped early into filming and how Jensen had his back and vice versa, that was such a pivotal moment in their relationship and even know years later you can tell how much it still means to Jared that Jensen had his back.
They brought up the matching tattoos and Jared showed his! 😍
Jared got asked about the time him and Jensen were roommates. Uh...okay, this surprised me - not the fact that they were roommates I already knew that info but that he was asked about it cause this [them having lived together] feels like some forgotten part of j2 history. It’s not something that’s brought up, it’s not asked about, it was possibly even blacklisted, I can’t even recall the boys bringing it up at least not in recent years. Honestly, if it wasn’t because the hats and j2 fans from back in the day saved this info for future fans I feel like this is a fact that might have been lost to time, so to hear Sharon ask him about it threw me for a loop. Was this a one-off question or is this a part of j2′s history we’re now going to get to know more about?
Jared responded pretty much the same way he did back in 2009 saying they would spend their days working out, playing guitar, cooking steaks that he can’t remember them ever talking about work once they got home, that at home they could just be Jared and Jensen.
I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m not used to hearing them talk about this part of their story but it kinda feels like Jared himself is not used to talking about this topic, at least not in a professional interview setting....I really wish Jensen had been in the interview cause I’m curious as to what reactions he would have had or what he would have said in response to this question.
Jensen was not available for most of the interview portion but the technical problems did get fixed in time for the boys to play ‘Know your Bro’
The boys got sent paddles with their faces and for reason Jensen’s Jared paddle had makeup I would like the story behind that 😂
Oh you think this being a virtual interview and Jensen having technical problems is gonna stop these two from acting married? How wrong you are! They got asked who has the messier dressing room to which Jensen replied Jared and Jared literally went no sir, no sir while holding the Jensen paddle.
Jensen was straight out of fucks this day, they got asked which one was more likely to forget their wedding anniversary and after they both paused for a minute he, very seriously looking, answered both of them. Jared answered Jensen was most likely to forget but when he saw Jensen’s response he lifted his paddle too then bless his heart tried to do a smooth save by saying for both of them their wives were their rocks to which Jensen nodded and said ‘yeah we don’t get a choice’. And Jared then said ‘plus they’re both Italian so they’ll beat us up’. That’s...romantic, nothing says you better remember our happiest day as a couple like the threat of a beating... No comment.
Full interview: The Talk | J2 interview
CW Arkansas interview:
They did a little mini interview with CW Arkansas and were asked what those final days of filming were like and Jensen got all emotional saying that 15 years ago him and Jared got on this rollercoaster together, that they didn’t separate for 15yrs and it was no different for the final week of filming, calling it a beautiful ride and that he couldn’t have asked for a better partner 🥺❤
Full Interview: CW Arkansas | J2 interview
CNN written interview:
The boys also did an interview with CNN that was released today, talking about the show and it’s legacy.
They admit it’s gonna be an adjustment for them to not be working together, with Jensen saying “So, it will be different, and that’s probably when he and I will call each other and be like, ‘I miss you so much!’” We know Jensen, we know.
Jared talks about how on spn they went through deaths, and marriages, and births, and divorces and honeymoon phases and all this things and then:
Jensen: “Oh, I thought you meant we fell in love”
Jared: “We fell in love too”
said in a supposedly joking manner according to the author of the piece, who proceeded to add that plotline is only in fanfiction (weird thing to add but okay) Jensen replied “or was it?” [i will add and make of it what you will that the word the author used was not replied but retort which means to ‘say something in answer to a remark or accusation, typically in a sharp, angry or wittily incisive manner’ again make of that what you will but if we go by that definition of retort it sounds like Jensen didn’t like the authors unsolicited addition]
Jared laughed and said “There it goes the internet.”
For some reason that whole exchange gave me early 2000′s j2 flashbacks which I don’t even know how it’s possible I didn’t even know who these men were back then...
They also said they’d like to do conventions again, and actually the boys are currently scheduled for 2021 conventions so 🤞 they’ll be able to do them.
I gotta say that it seems like the person who wrote this piece doesn’t really know Jared and Jensen’s sense of humor or how to read them well so I really wish this had been a video interview instead of a written one; I will also add that I found it interesting that the author mentioned Jared being on a road trip back to Austin but didn’t say the same for Jensen even though we know the both of them had been road tripping together, make of that what you will.

SPN Season 15 Spoiler Sheet, update 12/9
A few updates this week, some news on the writer/director of 13. 12 is looking packed, with potentially Cas, Jody, Jack, AND Kaia appearing. Still totally up in the air about airing dates past January. Maybe there might be some press around the mid-season finale, so I’ll look out for articles.
Just a note- if you want to use this for another publication, please drop me a line. The info is for the community, that’s why I take the time to gather it in one place. It’s nice that I’m a published author now in a major online entertainment website, but it would be nice if it was not someone else’s name in the byline. At least change some of the sentences around FFS. Otherwise, enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: This is gathered info from various sources. This is not confirmed information. Stuff in this WILL be wrong. Don’t take this too seriously. This is for fun. Also, if you use this info as in for another publication, please let me know as a courtesy.
General Info (oldest to newest)
There is hope to wrap up some Wayward Daughters storylines in the back half of the season
They are adding a whole extra day to filming to do the final scene. They will film the final scene last.  (Implies logistics- lots of returning people?)
Brad Bucker used the word “romance” when asked about Sam and Dean’s arcs. Did not specify who.
In an interview, Kripe indicated that the series ending would have “peace” for Sam and Dean
Not much new at the TCA’s, but it was said it is “unlikely” Jeffery Dean Morgan will be back since his last appearance was such a good end note. There were some jokes about a Castiel spin off. Hell, I’d watch.
There will be a special tribute ep, not clear if its one of the 20 or additional
Misha will be in 15 out of 20 episodes this season
Also according to Dabb, Jack is still in the empty and “he’s not coming back in the near future”
Cas’ deal with the Empty may come up later in the season.
Dabb intimated that Chuck was inherently responsible for killing Mary when asked how the boys would respond to Jack.
Dabb compared Chuck and John Winchester, claiming that Dean would have to break free of “conditioning.” Also, for Jack “there have been cosmic forces fighting for his attention since he was in the womb — and that will continue. As much as this season is about Sam and Dean finding agency, it’s also about Castiel finding agency, and it’s about Jack finding agency. As always, death is never the end. It’s just part of the journey and that’s certainly true with Jack.”
Jack will be a critical part of the ending of the show
The cage/Adam is looking like it will be coming up for midseason
Shaving People, Punting Things: https://youtu.be/azTwku2uosA
In the cage, Micheal and Adam have formed a working relationship (MarySue)
Dean and Amara’s connection will be explored
There will be a bunker themed episode (MarySue)
According to Misha (Cinablend) Dean and Cas will have discord up to ep 8- which is the mid-season finale.
At a convention, Jake Abel was asked to share two lies about Adam’s return and a truth. The said 1. Adam is not upset about hell 2. Adam kills someone 3. Adam bring someone back. I am assuming its the bring someone back (Micheal?)
In one of his cookbook interviews, Misha used the word “we” several times when talking about the final scene of Supernatural. He said that would be the last scene they shoot. It seemed to imply that he was in the scene, but that could be open to interpretation.
The finale will air on Monday May 18th. The show will move to Mondays when it comes back on March 16th. It’s gotta come back either than that and go on a mini break or something, because that is not enough Mondays.
Dabb mentioned that once Sam realizes what is going on with his connection to Chuck, he will reach out to people “some we expect and some not”
JaxCon spoilers:
Misha said the ending was “happier than he expected” but also had some sadness.
Misha mentioned that Claire will be mentioned on the show, but as of yet not appear.
Jared mentioned April 5th as the date of filming the finale.
Jensen said Dean will DANCE in an upcoming ep
Jensen reaffirmed his earlier spoiler about Dean/Cas reconciling, explaining why he has so much trouble with “that relationship” and that will “shed some light and then bruise some egos”
Episode 15x08
Title: Our Father Who Aren’t in Heaven
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: GOD BLESSES HIM WHO HELPS HIS BROTHER – Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel’s (Misha Collins) continued search for a way to defeat Chuck (guest star Rob Benedict) leads them to unexpected places and toward unlikely allies. Richard Speight, Jr. directed the episode written by Eugenie Ross-Leming & Brad Buckner (#1508). Original Airdate 12/12/2019.
Written by: Buckleming
Director: Speight
Filming Dates:  10/8- 10/18 (no filming 10/14 for Canadian Thanksgiving)

Castiel ? yes Jack ?
Guest stars: Jake Abel, Shoshannah Stern, Rob Benedict
Other Spoilers/info:
Jake Abel posted a script with the caption “hell hath no fury like a brother scorned”
Shoshannah Stern was spotted on set- Eileen!
This will be the midseason finale
At BurCon, Misha mentioned Dean is still acting like “a dick” in the ep they were filming- which is this one.
From the pics, it looks like they are in hell.
According to TVLine, Adam has hard feelings, but is not necesarily out for revenge. Micheal and him have formed a sort of peace and will have to deal with the changes of the past 10 years.
Jake Abel indicated to EW that his return sets up things for the future. He will definitely be both Micheal and Adam.
According to Rob in MarySue, we will hear from Chuck about his limitations with the wound in this ep.
Episode 15x09
Title: The Trap
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Written by: Berens
Director: Singer
Filming Dates:  10/21-10/30
Airdate: 1/16??  1/23
Photos:

Sneak Peak:
Castiel ? I think not Jack ? maybe
Guest stars: Rob Benedict, Kim Rhodes, Jim Beaver
Other Spoilers/info:
Midseason premier episode
Misha was at home for the first week of filming, and I think the second. I don’t think he is in this.
Alex and Rob were hanging out- Chuck and JACK?
Kim Rhodes posted in front of the SPN set and with her trailer- Jody looks very likely. She also had dyed hair and she has been rockin the grey for the past few Jody eps. Maybe a flashback/AU? UPDATE- her hair is brown in her selfie from 12, so maybe Jody just wanted a change.
Jim Beaver posted from set- Bobby!
Jensen shared that in this episode, Dean will pray to Cas to “confess” why he has been treating Cas the way he has. Misha confirmed this in another interview and said tears would be shed- not sure who is doing the crying (besides me).
Episode 15x10
Title: The Heroes’ Journey
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Written by: Dabb
Director: Showalter
Filming Dates:  10/31- 11/12 (No filming for Veterans/Armistice Day)

Sneak Peak:
Castiel ? maybe briefly?  Jack ?
Guest stars:
Other Spoilers/info :
Misha texted some local fans from set in costume about an WA election, but after the convention was promoting his cookbook all over the place. I think he filmed, if he did, for 2 days, max.
The story will be about Sam and Dean as heroes from the good and bad side (from MarySue)
At DCCon, Jensen shared that  this a bit of a wacky episode- Sam and Dean lose their abilities to fight, Dean gets cavities and Sam gets a cold. Jensen later seemed to refer to this ep when talking to TVGuide- mentioning the Impala will get a flat.
 Episode 15x11
Title: The Gamblers
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
Written by: Davey Perez and Meredith Glynn
Director: Beeson

Sneak Peak:
Castiel ? seems likely Jack ?
Guest stars:
Other Spoilers/info:
Misha and Jensen made a video for a fan that I think was filmed during the first day of shooting? Not for sure. So maybe Cas?? J2M made a video about Thanksgiving, so Micha must have been around at some point.
Megan Fitzgerald (writer/showrunner’s assistant) and Emma Peterson (production office) were very excited about something in the dailies for this ep.
They filmed at a church and a park in Surry according to YRShoots.
 Episode 15x12
Title: Galaxy Brain
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:

Castiel ? yes Jack ? possibly
Guest stars: Yadira Guevara-Prip (?), Kim Rhodes
Other Spoilers/info:
Alex canceled a comic con appearance in Argentina for “professional obligations” so it seems likely he would film this week
IMDB lists Yadira Guevara-Prip as a guest star, so Kaia? They are not always reliable on casting
Misha posted from set in costume (yea, thanks Misha!)
Kim Rhodes also has been posting from set

Dudes I’ve speculated for a while now about this breakup. Especially when they spent those few days in LA - including a holiday - and spent all of their time with friends and not each other.
You’re going to say “so they don’t spend all their time together, doesn’t mean they broke up!” And you’re totally right. But I’ve been with my man for 7 years now and he still likes to spend his free time with me, despite the fact that we live with each other and see each other every day and sleep next to each other, he STILL walks next to me when we’re going places and he still chooses to spend the holidays with me.
“He visited her in NJ when she was filming!” Yeah for ONE night after spending weeks abroad, hanging out from the looks of things, and then jetted off to LA to do more hanging out.
So, if they’re just that couple that doesn’t spend time together because what? They work together? Well, then if the splits rumors are false now, they will be true later because anyone who has been in a long term relationship will tell you that time brings people closer together, if they drift apart then they weren’t meant to be.
And also, all the supposed Sprousehart “content” from comic-con is SO cherry-picked! Let’s just keep watching the TVLine interview where Lili had to reprimand the boys and Cole’s face the remainder of the interview was....well, not happy.
And that’s my 2 cents on the Sprousehart stuff that I am entirely too old to actually be paying attention to 😂😂😂

Hawaii Five-0 thoughts - I wanted to wait until the season is over but I couldn’t help myself as I have so many thoughts in my mind and at some point, they all wanted out. Forgive me for this verbal diarrhea.
Where do you go to, my lovely?
I was pissed when they came up with Danny talking about retirement. I felt it was not a good idea. His character has deteriorated over the years, and the retirement talk didn't help at all. And I wondered what this trash talking was all about. Soon, we should learn that Danny already had a plan for his retirement. He wanted to open a restaurant. At first, we thought it was cute when he opened up and told Steve about it. We also thought it was cute on their rally through the jungle with a bomb strapped to the bed of their truck. Last but not least we couldn't help but smile when Steve came up with the idea to call the restaurant Steve's shortly before the bomb was about to explode. And we finally laughed out loud when the bomb exploded, and Steve's and Danny's hearing was impaired due to the blast and Danny said, "You can't name a restaurant Steve's." And Steve was close to tears and so full of joy that he thanked his friend from the bottom of his heart because he had considered it.
So far so good. This was back in season 7. Before season 8 aired PL was gushing about the upcoming events and what he had planned for it. With two main casts leaving there was room for a reboot of the reboot. Two new members were found shortly and also almost every character on the show that practically guest starred from time to time was upped to recurring. I remained skeptical but was totally open to giving it a try. I was still open for anything when PL babbled about the restaurant. Though I had my doubts, and here I have to quote Uncle Vito:
"What the hell are you guys thinking, anyway? Open up a restaurant; it is a terrible idea. And then into the fact that you know nothing about the business because if you did, you would know that it is a fulltime backbreaking grind just to squeeze out a few bucks of profit. Not something you do on a side like a hobby because you think you know about a thing or two about good food. Any schmuck who watches the food network thinks he's an expert. But you're not special. You're not even average. And when it comes to stuff like this…you are terrible."
That said, I could not agree more. What still bugged me were PLs remarks about that plot in TV-Line's interview from August 2017:
“It’s a longterm thing,” Lenkov affirms. “And who knows — the way they’re sort of going at each other, and given their different points of view with regards to building this business as something to retire into, it may never even happen! Because it’s just one hurdle after another.” - Lenkov
But in success, I suggested, maybe the stage can be set for a workplace sitcom offshoot that would cause less wear-and-tear to Alex O’Loughlin’s famously weary joints? - TVLine
“Yeah, down the road,” Lenkov responded with a laugh. “Many years down the road. Season 15!”
As much as I love Alex and as much I want him to do less action stuff, a sitcom, especially a poorly written one, is not what I have in mind when I am watching H50 and the interactions of Steve and Danny.
In another interview with CBS.com PL had also promised THIS, also from August 2017:
Fans love Danny and McGarrett's "carguments," will we keep seeing those next season? - CBS
Absolutely. Alex and Scott do a great job riffing off of each other, so it's always fun for us to write around the rhythm they've built over past seasons. - Lenkov
Sorry, but that was a flat-out lie. By this time he had already known in which direction McDanno was heading and it was definitely no carguments.
For me, it looks that they came up with the restaurant plot as a substitute for said carguments.
Let's go back to the beginning of season 8 when we were curious about it. The newbies were introduced as well, and things seem to work out fine. We were happy and so full of hope that this season was even going to be much better than season 7. Unfortunately, it happened that Scott hurt his arm while he was on the mainland and so they had to make some rearrangements as he was wearing a brace for some time. Like with his knee injury his real-life health issue was woven into the plots. What I didn't like was the reason for this timely addition; Danny blamed it on Steve because he bought a cheap ladder. Sorry guys, couldn't you have written that Danny was clumsy and caused that to himself? Is it really necessary to make Danny look like an ass who considers Steve incompetent to buy a ladder that is not safe enough to work with? Guess, they could've done better with that (and did when I think about the good old days).
But that was just the beginning of the endless misery called restaurant plot. It was clear that Scott couldn't do much action stuff with that brace on his arm. So we got a little more intel – probably more than we wanted – on the restaurant thing. And why all of us were hopefully waiting for some progress an some more McDanno action when the brace came off, we became disappointed with each episode that passed by. Steve and Danny were now reduced to the restaurant with their, sometimes, nasty bickering – because we haven't seen much of the witty, fluffy, easy –going banter from the early seasons lately. While we were eagerly waiting to see them working cases together, PL had, as usual, other plans.
A 3 episode arc was launched shortly before Christmas. It started with a case on a boat where the teamed was exposed to a biochemical weapon. Soon all of them were affected by this nasty stuff but Lou, assisted by Adam – who meanwhile returned to Hawaii while Kono was still deep undercover – managed to get an antidote.
The episode led into of the most wonderfully written and out carried episodes we've seen in a while 8.10 (for me, it is still my fav episode ever) though it started with a huge shock for everyone as the team was still in quarantine and Danny got shot by a stranger. While Steve, Tani, and Junior did all that they can to save Danny's life, he's in and out while one of his lungs is collapsing and he's about to choke. In this life-threatening limbo, Danny hallucinates about the future.
The first scene of this episode shows Steve's in full swing. Both guys have obviously retired and are now running a beautiful Italian restaurant. While Steve is taking care of the staff and the welfare of the guests, Danny has taken over the kitchen. You can see how Scott and Alex enjoyed playing these parts as they were so different from what they usually do on the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later we see Danny with Grace at her wedding (the reception is held at Steve's house), and in another scene, Steve and Danny are at Charlie's promotion as a police officer with the HPD. We learn that Tani and Junior are married and that Tani was now leading the task force.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last sequence of Danny's trip into the future presented him and Steve in their late 70s. Both are sitting on the chairs in Steve's yard and having a conversation about Danny's grandchild and other stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even without wearing McDanno goggles, these scenes touched most of us, as we see that in Danny's mind the two of them grew old together and lived in the same place. There was no mentioning of girlfriends or wives, which caused some protests from the not so McDanno friendly part of the fandom. But I don't want to get into that because the haters gonna hate.
This episode led us into the Christmas episode that was also nicely written but had not as much significance for me as 8.10.
With that said I thought it could only get better. And I wondered how they would top such an episode. Speaking frankly, they didn't. Instead, they sucked and messed up badly.
Looking back at this episode, I think the only reason they showed it was to dangle the McDanno-carrot right in front of our faces. This episode's sole purpose was to egg us on, to keep us watching. As much as I love this episode if it were something on the internet it would be called click bait. Yes, we were baited into keep on watching. While we were waiting episode after episode that the restaurant thing was picking up pace nothing really happened. On the contrary. 8.12 had been a pivotal episode for this season because the new big badass was introduced to the audience. Or better his actions to make sure he could rule every dirty business on the island by killing all the crime bosses who got incarcerated in a special facility after an FBI agent along with his family was killed by a bomb. It would've been a really good episode if Danny wasn't missing. It wasn't even mentioned where he was when the whole thing went down. And given to what happened in the episode and Steve's state of mind afterward he would have needed Danny badly, and so would've had the team, as they could've used every helping hand.
This is not about Scott and his agreement of doing five episodes less/season. It would not have been a first that episodes were filmed out of order due to scheduling or other reasons. Why didn't they do it in that case? At some point, I stopped wrecking my brain about it.
Therefore in the upcoming episodes more precious screen time was wasted on the restaurant plot that meanwhile turned into a never-ending story. Because of the boys facing so many obstacles that any sane person would've given up already. I think it is no fun watching someone going bankrupt or being a nervous wreck and arguing all the time. Whereas cases are worked by someone else or pairings, we haven't had on the show before, as Danny was and is constantly MIA without any explanation. So was Steve in episode 8.17 (but in his case Alex was prepping for his directional debut in episode 8.18). Maybe it would've been wiser to choose an episode where we could've overseen his absence more or less.
Though it was nice to see Danny taking over the lead when Steve is not there it is exactly the issue I am dealing with.
Going back to the early seasons, we always had Steve and Danny working together. Even when GP and DDK were added to the team, it was well written and happened smoothly. Nowadays, I have to admit that sometimes it feels like the introduction of the newbies is forced down our throats. Not that I don't like Tani and Junior. Both are nice characters with some potential but many plots of season 8 feel written lackluster. And often I have the impression it even shines through the acting. Means the actors look bored in certain scenes or something like that. I can't point my finger at it; it just feels off.
As much potential season 8 was offering, in the beginning, it deteriorated at some point. Steve and Danny aren't working many cases together. The restaurant plot feels like listening to a broken record. There are pivotal episodes where Danny is God knows where. Adam's plot is kind of wobbly, and I wonder where this is going to lead us as his plot is interlaced with the entrance of the still unknown big badass that is looming over the island like dark clouds on a stormy day.
Furthermore, the episodes are crammed with different arcs; currently, we have three of them running parallel which is not working. It is like TPTB knows that the show might come to an end at some point – no surprise after eight seasons – and they have to squeeze in whatever is possible, instead of focusing on core relationships and plots. I wonder if we will learn who the new King of crime in town is by the end of the season or if they leave it open to cause a major cliffhanger to make sure all of us are tuning in when season 9 starts. I do not doubt that we get a renewal, as some people are eager to make it up to episode 200, no matter what the price might be to get there.
As for episode 8.18 and aside from Alex directional debut it will be the episode where the secret of who shot Danny (we got the name of the guy in episode 8.17, but that's it with info so far) and why will be revealed. Because the incident that triggered this guy's actions lies at the beginning of Danny's career way back in Jersey. Means, we will have some flashbacks. Nevertheless, it is also going to be a multi-arc episode. But I do hope it focusses on the right arc. As we all know hope dies last.
If you made it that far, congrats. You've earned yourselves some nice brownie points. Also, I want to point out that this only reflects my thoughts.
See you on March 30th, 2018 with Alex directional debut in episode 8.18.

In the main j2 nolacon panel it was revealed that Jensen had not in fact directed Walker ep 7 as we had believed but that he would be directing in February. You can find the timestamps and some more details of Jensen talking about directing Walker and his episode now being in February in my main post about the panel.
This is just a recap of everything, and my general thoughts on it which are subject to change if/as we get more information.
Before s2 premiered, back on September 8th, Jared said in an interview that Jensen was set to direct an episode in this second season, then on September 23rd TVLine reported that the episode Jensen would be directing was episode 7. Based on previous episodes, some fans did the math and it was calculated that Jensen would be filming from the 10th to the 18th of November. And everything seemed to be going to schedule, the boys were talking about Jensen directing, Jensen was seen back in Austin around the time he’d be expected to be getting prep work done, and someone claiming to be working on set even reported on what was supposed to be his first day that he was there implying he was in fact directing the episode.
So what happened? Well, officially we don’t know, a reason is yet to be given. There's some rumored reports but as far as I know there’s no confirmation or proof that they are true.
And in my opinion we’ve already assumed too much when it comes to this and here’s what I mean by that, I think we want this so badly that we filled in the blanks and let our assumptions guide us instead of stopping and thinking about how what we were seeing and hearing didn’t add up with what was supposed to be going on. Because not only was there was no official report or confirmation about Jensen being on set but there was a cricket silence regarding Jensen’s directing. The boys who have seemed so excited about this weren’t posting anything about it, none of the cast and crew were mentioning Jensen and he wasn’t appearing on any on set photos, to add to it on the 11th which fell on a Thursday there was a ton of Jared-Keegan content cause they were watching the new Walker episode live together on set but again no Jensen.
And this silence made no sense! It made no sense for Jensen to be hiding when it was publicly reported that he’d be directing ep 7, it made no sense because the Supernatural boys being together again would make great promo for the show, it made no sense that Jared who has been so excited to get Jensen on set and has been wanting this since before the show even premiered would go radio silent and not post even once about this, and I think if we had stopped to really think about it instead of trying to come up with paper thin reasons and filling in the blanks with what we assumed we would have figured out there was something going on and wouldn’t have found ourselves so surprised.
Now that silence that made no sense, makes all the sense in the world. Because Jensen was not directing as we had assumed.
He will be directing in late February, the episode has not been officially announced yet to my knowledge.
Here’s where my thoughts land on this at this moment in time, I don’t think this was sudden or last minute they knew and had known for a while that Jensen would not be directing episode 7 as had been reported. I don’t know for how long they had known but imo by NC Con they already knew, cause Jensen mentions directing Walker but even though that con happened on the weekend he was set to start filming he talks about it as a future thing not as something that was going to be taking place in a couple of days.
So, I think they fucking knew and did for a while and just kept it to themselves; there’s a part of me that speculates that one of the reasons why Jensen’s episode moved down the pipeline is because they realized that if he took a later episode they could spend his birthday on set together which seems to be something that they’re both looking forward too because with the exception of 2020 they have spend all of Jensen’s birthdays working together since they filmed the spn Pilot back in 2005, it seems to be important to them, and I feel like that played a factor in Jensen doing a later episode instead.
We shall see if we ever get an explination of why it was that his episode changed but to be honest I'm not holding my breath for it- I gotta give it to them though we tought we knew their moves but they can still surprise us.
Personally, as much as it sucks he didn't direct ep 7, I'm just happy that he still is directing; it's something him and Jared are talking about with a lot of excitment- I've been waiting for this since the very first interview where Jared mentioned wanting Jensen on the show so if I've been waiting this long I can wait a couple more months. And who knows maybe by then they would have worked out a bigger involvement.

“There’s that one line in it, too, that he goes, ‘No, you guys haven’t been good,’ and he’s trying to lie to himself and he goes, ‘No, I saw her earlier!’” Sprouse said. “But he knows he’s on the Southside now, and he knows he’s been away from everyone, and I think also Jughead has absolutely no problem seeing himself as someone who could be easily thrown to the wayside, so I think something like that probably affects him a little bit. But he’s also got his boys behind him, so it’s not like he’s going to be like, ‘NO!’ The way that scene was shot was kind of funny to me, watching it back. [same as the TVLine interview here...].”

Hi Callie! Sorry for the delay, my first week back was hectic but I’m good now, thank you
“Well, given that the AG team we knew was murdered, introducing someone new from the AG, as well as Vikram or Rita becoming bad guys, would certainly be plausible, even if kind of predictable options. I absolutely love that you thought about the Mayor and the Judge! Most casual watchers may not remember them but I guess a good intro could sell it. I’ve been thinking that the people in the fandom who chose to boycott “The GDS” actually completely missed Mason’s first appearance ^^ (NSA)
In my opinion, tying up Castle’s disappearance with LokSat was a great closure for this arc. I’m one of those who would have preferred a fake separation from the beginning, not just once Castle called Kate out on it again. And while it was not OOC, I personally didn’t really think there was character growth in how they kept things from each other (Kate in S8 and Castle during his disappearance) instead of investigating together like they did in S6, even though they both had their reasons. (NSA)
I mean, in 8x02, Castle and the boys had already heard of the term LokSat, they just didn’t know yet Allison Hyde’s death was not a suicide. You seem to be mentioning the end of 8x15, and that was a nice realization from Kate indeed (although belated). I do get how your take on S8 makes it likeable for you. I really like your idea of changing the voice over, and would maybe just keep the last part with “Every writer…” It would have been a nice and pretty simple way to remove all doubts alright
And I may be repeating myself here, but don’t worry about your ramblings, and never dare thinking you’re annoying either, I for one always find your commentaries very insightful ;) On your take on 3x01, I do love Caskett’s capacity for forgiveness and how they overcome their hurt feelings in order to be able to keep working together. As you could see, I cited 2x01 and the Limey, so I can take heartbreak depending on the circumstances. (NSA)
I think this aspect was okay for me in 2x01 because Beckett wasn’t hurt for romantic reasons, and her reactions were in line with S1 (except for the very end of the ep, great scene by the way). On the other hand, there was this sting accompanying Kate’s banter during most of 3x01, which made me feel uneasy at times, and which was kind of a step back, even if understandable? I have to say I was still reeling from the shock of the S2 finale myself when I watched “A Deadly Affair”. (NSA)
In “The Limey”, Kate and Castle were both deeply heartbroken but reading fics about this arc early on helped me be at peace with the episode. For example, I believe the first multichapter I have ever read was “In Some Corner” by Liv Wilder. I like to think neither of them went really far with their SO and Colin is still way more classy than Erik Vaughn. As for details about the other eps, I’m unfortunately gonna have to postpone the discussion. Until next time! (NSA)”
Response under the cut.
Well, I’m glad you survived your hectic first week back and things have calmed down now. And thank you, for the well wishes. The acupuncture so far hasn’t done much besides worsen my pain but that was to be expected and I’m hoping that, with time, it will help to improve my symptoms. Also, no need to apologize, I’m sure we’ve all experienced such a thing.
Agreed. I’m not saying that it would have been the best option (I’m generally terrible at coming up with identities for big bads *side eyes my S9 episode*) but rather than I think a lot of alternative options would have been better accepted by the fandom, if not the casual viewer (which is just as important, I simply don’t know they felt about the finale so it’s hard to say if they liked Mason or would have preferred an alternative). But I do most certainly think that fandom attitude towards The GDS, both those who simply found it to be a rather boring episode, like me, and those who hate it because Stana wasn’t in it, worsened the attitude towards the finale. In part, for sure, because a lot of people just didn’t know Mason, and in part because tying the bad guy back to a single episode which a lot of people dislike is just not the ideal move.
Imo, tying up Castle’s disappearance with LokSat was the only thing that gave Castle’s disappearance any semblance of meaning besides the like two episodes they spent recovering in early S7. I like that they tied it in in a way that added, imo, validation to the separation by presenting Castle’s knowledge that she wouldn’t be able to let it go, albeit not that she would leave him. While I understand the desire for solely a fake separation, I don’t think such an arc would have had the same emotional impact on the characters, namely Beckett. Forgive the plug of my own GIFset, but I think this exemplifies the character growth I perceive. Kate realizing those things was, imo, important and tied in well with her character, and, again simply in my opinion, wouldn’t have been possible had she had Castle at her side, because it simply would have mirrored past experience without showing her the lengths to which those metaphorical wounds would push her. And the separation forced her not only to see that, but to learn to face it in order to save/continue her marriage.
Well, I’m certainly glad you forgive my ramblings, because evidently I’m not very talented at diminishing them.
I can see how 2x01 and 3x01 contrast in a way that you would enjoy the latter less. I also think there’s a different level to their emotions, if that makes sense. Like, in 2x01, she’s heartbroken, but also really angry at him, perhaps both for digging into her mother’s case and for hurting her, on a more emotional level, by doing so. Whereas in 3x01 she’s mostly heartbroken and angry with him for causing that, by my perception, at least. I actually really like The Limey, too. Their dynamic of mutual jealousy all the while both believing the other stopped caring is, dare I say it, fun to watch, but remains heartbreaking due to the pain they both evidently feel.
I look forward to hearing details about the other eps.
Until next time, NSA!
Callie xx
