I think your so on the money on ur thoughts on how would a “YJWally is JLU!Wally” would handle Clark is like the ultimate “oh no this authority figure who seemed unreachable is now a person who is my peer” feeling because yes, I totally agree with your assessment that the OG team would have mixed feelings on superman (pre season 2) and Wally would look at this Clark like hmm…but I think that’s what this idea is missing in the grand scheme of things seeing that shift for Wally internally, seeing him changing his thoughts on these people he used to know in another context become something different. Like I for one, would love to see a fic dedicated to Wally and the JL show league original seven building their bond that it almost makes him forget what the others were like we cannot forget that for instance, JLU superman really wanted to kill lex (and did in one universe) for seemingly killing Wally and Wally broke into tears when Clark showed up again after HE thought was to have died. He also told Clark to smile more sweetie and stop being an ass during the whole brainiac/Cadmus arc. The relationships between the JLU original seven make me so feral
What you said! Yes!!!
Tbh I personally think that the team is still somewhat bitter about Clark's relationship with Conner, including Wally. But bitter as in “Will make fun of you and mention it all the time to annoy you”, not “I'm actually angry about this”
Wally knows that Conner and Clark are in good terms now and while he's spent a lot of time shitting on Clark with the rest of the team because that's what friends do when they find out you have a complicated relationship with your parents, he still accepts it and is totally supportive of them
However, this doesn't mean that he won't be salty with Supes over it. The whole team is
And also yeah, I would pay to see Wally's view on the JL after the dimension travel
He first viewed them as heroes. So high and unreachable; he basically worshipped them, as any other little kid did
Then, he thought of them as celebrities. Famous people with money that can be assholes but can also be the kindest people in the world
And when he discovered Barry was the Flash, some of them even became family! But only some, because after forming the team, most of the members became his friends' parents or relatives
But then he ‘died’ and appeared in another whole universe where not only did the Justice League not even exist, both his uncle and him were dead and Hal, not having Barry, wasn't even living in earth anymore!
And that's when things start to get complicated. Because he takes his dad uncle's name, wears his suit and becomes him, in a way. He takes the name of Flash and starts going out to be a superhero because Central City needs a speedster there
So when he, along with the others, forms the Justice League... well. Things are awkward
He can no longer view them as his friends's relatives. He can't even think of them as heroes. Now, they're actual people to him. They aren't celebrities anymore, they're friends. He's watched them doubt themselves, cry, laugh, get angry just like how he did with his old team and he just can't not view them as people now
And I personally believe that he avoids thinking about it as much as he can, but when he's left alone with his thoughts he can't help but remember that he used to call some of them aunt and uncle and now he's calling them coworker or sister or brother or friend
And he tries to remember what the old versions of them he used to know were like only to find that he can't remember them. Like, can't remember them at all
Now, when he thinks of Green Lantern, he doesn't think of Uncle Hal anymore, he thinks of John Stewart. The versions of them he used to know were slowly replaced by his now coworkers and friends
He can't remember. And now he's worrying that he might forget his old family friends too

Yo! I had so many questions I wanted to ask you while you were gone but I of course wasn’t gonna send in asks while you were on hiatus! I wanted you to have peace. But I should have written them down!! 😭
Now I only have this one question. I saw your ask to Mango about Chelsea’s super power and now I want your take on this. Not on Chelsea but an islander or islanders of your choice. What super powers would you give your favorite islanders? They can have more than one power like super heroes do if you feel like it fits.
hi! i missed you!
oh oh oh oh!! anything you remember, send it my way! i need something to help me wake up from this brain coma i've been in. i blame cmm for that...
ok, so i love this question, thank you for sending it to me! i'll definitely focus on a lot of them because well, i love the genre, and i love talking about them 🥺
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
lucas
fire. he's able to start it, besides dominating and bending it over to his own will. sometimes uses it for (partial) evil and more. being the anti hero i think he is, i would LOVE to see lucas playing with fire while delivering a speech that instigates the good guy in front of him. in a cool, well cut, all black suit with just one (1) red scarf on the lapel, or his neck, he would look amazing sending blazes everywhere! i even have a song for him: play with fire. aaaah the idea of lucas and fire sends me to heaven, hell, purgatory and back! he can be like tuxedo mask, regarding how he annoys everyone with his smugness.
gary
colossus. strength and possibility of turning into a dense metal at will? gary is perfect for it! he has the body shape and weight, and the skills for the maintenance. picture this: you walk down the hallway to go to the bathroom, only to hear him moaning in there. you're uncomfortable, thinking the worst, only to open the door and see him oiling his joints and almost falling on the floor. "a little help? i can't reach some places..." please, give me metal body gary, it would clear all my trauma! plus, as he is in the villa, he would exercise his comic relief role.
carl
brainiac with technology/time bending. (@lasswithumor's idea for 'time' makes me smile! thank you for the inspo!) not actual brainiac from dc though, let me explain. i always get the sense carl could be tony stark or bruce wayne, minus the assholery. he's much humbler and quiet, but still very capable. as for time bending being his power, it could make him overcome this sense of running out of time he always seems to have. he might have a hardship about it because he never seems to find a balance, so this skill is probably the only thing he could actually be good at, and benefit from.
noah
talking to the dead, like klaus hargreeves. something i would love to see is how tormented he would be while it happens. distressed noah is a beautiful concept, and part of the reason why he would be such a troubled character. picture this: he uses those people to fight in exchange of favors, like finding out who killed them, or to tell their families how peaceful they are now, among other things. noah and ghosts ring different to me, and the thought of him being troubled? even more! not like klaus, but definitely close to that. i love that "short temper" side of him, and in this context, it would be perfect. plus, his looks being similar to something from the 1920's, without the hat. so white shirt, suspenders, dark brown pants. ugh, he would look so good in it!
henrik
vines and plant banding, like layla williams in sky high. there's no other answer for him. i thought about making him avalanche, from x men, but i see him more connected to plants than any other element of nature. the way he would smirk and grow a small vine around his pinky while talking about a brilliant idea he just had? PLEASE. GIVE - IT - TO - ME, I LIVE FOR SMUG HENRIK! and you can be damn sure his looks would include this ponytail, by @juggalohenrik.
kassam
at first i thought invisibility, because of his personality and how he behaves in groups, but then it hit me, supersonic scream. he can take his frustrations out on a single booming scream and be done with it. i would love to see kassam being teased and beat up, only to get up from the ground, scrapes all over, bloody nose, only to position himself and close his fists to focus, before delivering a resounding scream to round it up real nicely. that's definitely a power he would find useful and excels in. the visuals definitely don't hurt either!
bobby
he's a very peculiar boy, and so his powers would have to be too. it might sound crazy, but hear me out! laughter inducement. the power itself can cause the person to laugh so hard, eventually the air is expelled from their lungs and they have quite the death! it's gruesome and i love it, it's the perfect juxtaposition between it and bobby's personality that is so bubbly. picture this: battlefield, gary smugly says "i guess that's the only way you could make someone laugh." to which bobby replies with a laugh "including you, tin can" while making colossus!gary laugh and fall on the floor because of it. it might require lots of energy, so bobby can't always cause mass laughter, just like in the villa... jk jk jk! i just know his uniform would be clown like, before priya adjusted to a beautiful dark teal piece. before that? goofy pink mask and cape with sprinkles, and tights everywhere else. he would also be the type of hero that is a comic relief. ironically, in this case.
lottie
rogue. the power and the visuals fit in so well! sucking up someone's power and/or energy SCREAMS lottie's personality all over! if i could adjust it so the girl doesn't manifest it unless she wants to, that's even better. lottie with dark hair and a streak of platinum, or the opposite, would look another level and i'm here for it! plus, the gloves... AAAAH THE GLOVES. she would smirk before taking them off and turning that grin into a determined smug expression before touching her enemy. PLEASE!
priya
TURNING - PEOPLE - INTO - GOLD. i said what i said. similar to medusa's power of turning people into stone. flowy dresses for the goddess looks, a smirk on her lips while she does it, and golden shiny eyes that glow bright when she throws her gold curse upon her enemy! she's goofy, so you know she has a cheesy catchphrase, but i can't think of anything right now. it's there, i just need to find it.
hope
mind control. CAN I JUST SAY? she practically has that power already. being persuasive and having the power of negotiation the way she already does would fit in perfectly. and if i may add, storm looks like the uniform and the "bright white eyes" while it happens???also! hope as the person who plans the attacks and defense.
marisol
persuasion. similar to allison hargreeves. one word and they will do it. at first i considered super strength, for being so unexpected to someone that petit, but if you account for her personality, persuasion as a super power is so much cooler! plus, she doesn't have to try hard, the seed of argumentation is already there. in her origin story you could have marisol having a moral grey area where she debates whether or not using those powers in court. i would love to see this dilemma and her going through it, since there's a clear distinction in what she considers right and wrong, and the ethically correct options to choose. as looks go, all she needs is a suit, similar to the prom one, and definitely a ponytail and gloves.
ibrahim.
flying and speed. something about rahim screams traditional super hero persona and i can't help but stir into it. he's perfect for the superman alter ego, the one that talks about justice and fights the big guy for the little ones. rahim has a way of going around and making people's lives better, at least that's how i see him. i asked for @itsrealityboo 's approval about this, because you know, she's the authority on golf boy, and she added something really cool that i hadn't thought about: "I will say that I could definitely see Rahim as a part of a team tho, like the fantastic four! I think because of his insecurities, he’s need some type of support system or even older mentor. He’d definitely go through that awkward phase of learning how to manage his powers if he wasn’t born with them lol"
i definitely agree after reading it, it makes so much sense! i don't know if that need comes from being the younger brother, or having those expectations at home (about being suave and all) but that would for sure be a part of his origin story as a superhero.
in case you missed the asks i sent about superpowers, here is chelsea, by mango, and elisa, by kc
off the rack #1316
 Coming up on a year since the pandemic started. I hope you're all healthy and safe. I am hopeful that vaccines will be deployed widely and help us all feel less anxious. I am fortunate enough to be one of those people who is happy as a bug snug in a rug while self isolating. I do really miss my dear friends and family but hugs can wait until we're all vaccinated.
 My thanks to Doug for lending me these comic books to read.
 Batman Annual #5 - James Tynion IV (writer) James Stokoe (art) Clayton Cowles (letters). It's the origin of Clownhunter and it's not very original. If I had to pay $4.99 US I would have passed on this and lived with leaving a hole in my Batman collection. If you're not familiar with this new vigilante, he's an Asian teenager named Bao who decides he's going to kill the Joker and all of the villain's sycophants. The reason he becomes Clownhunter (and killer) is very mundane. I wish they could have come up with a new motivator. Maybe the philosophical discussion about what to do about the Joker might interest some fans but I found this story quite tedious. I also didn't like the way Bao and his parents were portrayed. Did they really have an Asian saying "Ah, so"? Yes they did on page 8. Shades of Charlie Chan, Batman. I was not offended, just disappointed.
 Batman/Catwoman #3 - Tom King (writer) Clay Mann (art) Tomeu Morey (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). I was thrilled to see the town of Port Orange, Florida mentioned on the first page. My pal Al lives there. It's also where Selina finally catches up with the Joker and does what Batman never did. I love this Black Label book taking familiar characters and treating them in a new and interesting way. Here's a future where Selina has survived her husband Bruce's death and their daughter Helena is the new Batwoman. Now I wait to see how mother and daughter deal with the Angel of Death.
 And now, more Future State books.
 Future State: Robin Eternal #2 - Meghan Fitzmartin (writer) Eddy Barrows (pencils) Eber Ferreira (inks) Adriano Lucas (colours) Pat Brosseau (letters). The consequence of Tim Drake/Robin being dunked in Lazarus resin is that now he's immortal. Whoop-dee-doo. Not only is this a boring Robin beats up bad guys issue but the art lacked any logical perspective. This issue takes place on a train but you would think it's in a huge building based on the art. I know it's comic books but I hate when one doesn't make visual sense. I think that's just laziness.
 Future State: Kara Zor-El Superwoman #1 & #2 - Marguerite Bennett (writer) Marguerite Sauvage (art) Wes Abbott (letters). This 2-issue fairy tale was not meant for old farts like me and Doug. With it's soft pastel colours these books should have included glitter and bubblegum flavoured lip gloss. Maybe young tween girls will like this. The moral of this story is "no one is born wise".
 Future State: Dark Detective #3 - Mariko Tamaki (writer) Dan Mora (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) Aditya Bidikar (letters). There are not one but two Batmans in this issue. You've got Bruce in his new capeless costume but here he's wearing a trench coat to give that fluttering effect, and then there's the new guy in the Bat suit, cape and all. The "uh-oh" point of the story hits here when the bad guys discover where Bruce is hiding out. The Matthew Rosenberg (writer) Carmine Di Giandomenico (art) Antonio Fabela (colours) & AndWorld Design (letters) Grifter story concludes here too with a double cross and a whole lot more of Helena/Huntress. This is my favourite Future State book so far.
 Future State: Superman of Metropolis #1 & #2 - Sean Lewis (writer) John Timms (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). If you're wondering how a grown up Jonathan Kent takes over for his dad as Metropolis's protector then these two $5.99 US books will satisfy your curiosity. The villain of the story is an evolved Brainiac who is a big multi-mouthed ball now. Metropolis is shrunk ala the bottle city of Kandor, the citizens go nuts but Jon returns things back to normal in the end with the help of Kara/Supergirl. I don't know why Kara's a girl in this story and a woman elsewhere. Each issue has two back-ups so you get your money's worth. One features Mister Miracle and the other the Guardian. They are both dealing with bad things inside the bottled Metropolis. You won't miss much if you don't read them. The Mister Miracle story "The Metropolis Menagerie" is done my Brandon Easton (writer) Valentine De Landro (art) Marissa Louise (colours) Dave Sharpe (letters). The Guardian story is brought to you by Sean Lewis (writer) Cully Hamner & Michael Avon Oeming (art) Laura Martin (colours) AndWorld Design (letters). This one got me excited because a villain wants to throw Jimmy Olsen off of the Daily Planet building.
 Future State: Catwoman #2 - Ram V (writer) Otto Schmidt (art) Tom Napolitano (letters). Read this to find out if Catwoman saves the lives of the people on the train. You will also find out if Bruce is freed from the bad guys. Talia Al-Ghul appearing is the deus ex machina in this story. I like the new Cheshire and Onomatopoeia is always fun.
 Future State: Superman: Worlds of War #2 - Phillip Kennedy Johnson (writer) Mikel Janin (art) Jordie Bellaire (colours) & Dave Sharpe (letters). In "The Many Deaths of Superman" the Man of Steel fights in the arena of Warworld where Mongul resurrects him after every death match. It's the typical brutal battle scenes and super villain gloating. What's more compelling is an old newspaper story that Clark Kent wrote that inspired a young woman who travels to Smallville. I was totally confused by the three back-up stories featuring Mister Miracle, Midnighter and the Black Racer because they were not very good. I am a completist and have to finish what I start. I could have stopped reading after the $3.99 US main story in this bloated $7.99 US comic book  but my obsessive compulsive nature wouldn't let me. It's a character flaw I wish I could change.
 Future State: The Next Batman #1 - John Ridley (writer) Nick Derington (art) Tamra Bonvillain (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). All the teasers for this book hyped the fact that this Batman is black. You won't get the secret identity in this first issue but there are a bunch of likely candidates. Lucas Fox is a possibility but it's confusing because he's a bad guy in another Future State book. This is another $7.99 US book with back-ups. These are more coherent than the ones in Future State: Superman: Worlds of War.
Future State: Outsiders by Brandon Thomas (writer) Sumit Kumar (pencils) Sumit Kumar & Raul Fernandez (inks) Jordie Bellaire (colours) & Steve Wands (letters) gathers together some old Batman associates helping Gotham City citizens escape persecution by the Magistrates outside Gotham City's borders. Get it? It was nice seeing Katana in action.
Future State: Arkham Knights by Paul Jenkins (writer) Jack Herbert (art) Gabe Eltaeb (colours) & Rob Leigh (letters) gathers together some of Batman's rogues gallery to fight the oppressive Magistrate. Two-Face, Mr. Zsasz, Dr. Phosphorus, Killer Croc and other ex-inmates of Arkham Asylum are being lead by an armoured Astrid Arkham. It's super villains being super heroes.
 Future State: The Next Batman #2 - John Ridley (writer) Nick Derington (breakdowns) Laura Braga (art) Arif Prianto (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). We learn the secret identity of the new caped Batman in this issue. It's Lucas Fox's brother. He has a brother? This also has three new back-up stories.
"Batgirls" is by Vita Ayala (writer) Aneke (art) Trish Mulvihill (colours) & Becca Carey (letters). Batgirl/Orphan Cassandra Cain gets locked up in the Magistrate Detention Facility where both good guys/white hats and bad guys/black coats are incarcerated. She got caught on purpose because her mission is to find Oracle and Batman and free them. She gets help from Spoiler who is queen of the inmates. In this reality Cass is way more articulate than she used to be. I didn't like that. I also didn't like that in the other Future State stories the Magistrate foot soldiers have a shoot to kill order for any masks that they encounter. Why are all of these masks alive? Anyways, this part ends with the white hats and black coats forming an alliance so Cass can get on with her mission.
"Gotham City Sirens: Ladies' Night Out" is by Paula Sevenbergen (writer) Rob Haynes (breakdowns) Emanuela Lupacchino (pencils) Wade von Grawbadger (inks) John Kalisz (colours) Becca Carey (letters). Catwoman and Poison Ivy spring a domestic droid named Dee Dee (get it?) from servitude and they have a night on the town at a bar. The bar is run by Sam Bradley and both super heroes and villains can imbibe in peace. Fans of Sex and the City may like this. Not a lot of drama until the last page when the joint is raided by Magistrate goons and major characters are shot.
 Future State: The Next Batman #3 - John Ridley (writer) Nick Derington (breakdowns) Laura Braga (art) Arif Prianto (colours) Clayton Cowles (letters). This is the "uh-oh" moment in the story where the hero is felled by the villain. A wounded Batman is attacked by the murderer he's trying to bring to justice. I saw that coming.
I like the change with Black Lightning in the Outsiders back-up.
I like the art in the Arkham Knights back-up even though the dialogue is eye roll inducing.
 Future State: The Next Batman #4 - Jace/Batman lives, as if that was in any doubt. This story would have been a lot more interesting if Bruce/Batman was really dead. Even if the Future State line of comics dies out this Next Batman is a cop out. The Batgirls story ends with Cassandra/Orphan saving Barbara/Oracle and the Resistance gaining ground on the Magistrates. The Gotham City Sirens story ends with Catwoman and Poison Ivy helping the Resistance get an advantage in their war with the Cybers thanks to Dee Dee.
 I admit that I was sucked in by the hype for this mini. The Next Batman being black intrigued me. The story itself was meh and I would not have missed anything by not reading it. I was not engaged as a mature reader but I think someone in their teens might like all the stories in these four issues.
Injustice 2 Comic - Chapter Seventy-Two: Good-Bye
Late in the evening back at Wayne Manor, Alfred walks up to the phone to make a call. As he calmly starts talking to Jonathan and Martha Kent, who are still residing in the Fortress of Solitude, Alfred makes a request of them. He informs the couple that he plans on leaving Wayne Manor and needs them to watch over Bruce in his absence. Once they kindly accept his request, he thanks the two of them for their friendship before he wishes them good-bye. The peaceful conversation is abruptly ended as the scene then flashes to the heart of Gorilla City.
Chaos ensues across the entire city as braziers are lit and spears reign down on the panicking gorillas who are struggling to catch up with the surprise attack. Grodd and his pack of guards rush into the city during the madness, with Ra’s still being held captive in Grodd’s hand. While carrying him, Grodd becomes distracted however when he starts lecturing Ra’s about the gorillas’ superiority over humans. Poison Ivy appears and sees this as an opportunity to grow her gigantic vines over to retrieve Ra’s from his grasp. Grodd turns around just in time to see Ra’s has been been successfully saved by Ivy whilst Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Man-Bat all stand next to her armed and ready to attack.
Although Deadshot threatens to shoot Grodd on the count of three, Grodd himself doesn’t seem worried at all as he telepathically stops Deadshot from shooting. Captain Boomerang is confused by Deadshot’s restraint when Man-Bat then decides to fly up and attack Grodd himself. Before anyone can react, Grodd pulls out the Suicide Squad’s explosive detonator and blows Man-Bat’s head clear off his body. Man-Bat’s body hits the ground with a thud as Gorilla Grodd boldly declares that the Suicide Squad now belongs to him. Ivy and the remnants of the Suicide Squad are ready to turn tail and run, but Ra’s tells them that they have one chance to react to the events unfolding.
Grodd’s defiance hasn’t gone unnoticed because shortly after the Suicide Squad has disappeared, Solovar finally appears to the fight. Although Solovar opens their conversation with a merciless threat, Grodd responds by telling him that he is unfit to rule before bringing in the matter of Solovar’s son into the conversation. As Solovar yells in surprise, Grodd telepathically controls his son to walk up to them. Seeing the events unfold, Solovar deduces that Grodd’s telepathy must be restored and controlling his own son. Solovar is then ordered to submit to his death by Grodd if he wishes to see his son live.
Solovar shows distrusts towards Grodd’s promise, but Grodd offers for him to read his mind to prove his statement. Although Solovar does indeed learn that Grodd intends to keep his promise, he is left stuck in place from shock once he also finds Grodd’s deal with Brainiac inside the recesses of his mind. Before Solovar can properly question Grodd about it however, Grodd orders Deadshot to shoot him straight through the head. Back inside of Wayne Manor, Bruce is in the middle of reading when he gets an alert from Brother Eye that Ra’s al Ghul wishes to make contact. As soon as Bruce accepts the call, Ra’s jumps to inform Bruce that Grodd is attacking Gorilla City before his mind gives in to Grodd’s telepathy.
Ra’s is able to make one final request of Bruce to save the world for his grandchildren before his mind is overtaken by Grodd and he absentmindedly walks away from the screen. Ra’s arrives in the middle of Gorilla City to see Solovar lying dead and bloodied as Grodd proudly sits atop his throne. Grodd then orders Ra’s to kneel before him prior to crushing his entire head with his bare hand. Bruce rushes down the halls after his call with Ra’s to find Alfred packing his bags to leave the manor. Alfred sadly informs Bruce that he’s planning on going away to an unknown location.
Bruce, flooded with confusion for Alfred’s sudden decision to leave, asks him why he wishes to leave. Alfred responds with his belief that he can’t stay any longer because he isn’t of any help and doesn’t quite feel right after his revival from the Lazarus Pits. He continues by stating that he feels like pieces of him are missing because he died and never really came back. Bruce tries to tell him that he believes that Ra’s was just killed and that he’s needed there, but Alfred defiantly responds with the fact that he can’t stick around feeling useless anymore. Alfred leaves Bruce with a statement of love by telling Bruce that he was one of the greatest men that he’s ever met, his savior, and son; He lets Bruce know that he loves him as he gets in a waiting taxi and leaves Wayne Manor behind.
THE END.
Supergirl - S5 E3 - Blurred Lines
I'm begrudgingly considering watching Batwoman, mainly because I'm OC'd and I'm watching the other DC-CW series, but God damn, I catch glimpse of it whenever I cue-up Supergirl and the DVR has recorded the last few minutes of the preceding Batwoman episode, and it's not inspiring me with any confidence.  It apparently takes them 3 episodes to give her, her God damn hair - the hair we saw Batwoman sport nearly a year ago in the crossover, meaning at least part of this season is set in the relative past, presumably.  But then we get this bullshit commentary about "the bat being back, but curvier and sexier," like fuck you.  How the hell can you tell what this person looks in this suit?  And so much for the urban legend angle.   More importantly, how dumb is it that they have work so hard to come up with her name?  Are we supposed to believe anyone was seriously considering calling her "Batchick"; while "Batwoman" flies under the radar? Moving on.... So at the end of the last episode, we see Billy-the-Kiss ass volunteering at a shelter; now he's hassling some guy at a night club about playing ball?
Of course Kelly gives random people she meets on the street unsolicited advice about their lives; because nothing makes someone more sympathetic than someone who likes to stick their nose into other people's business.  And it seems this show has once again tricked me into walking into a double entendre. It's her job to listen to people?  What is Kelly's job?  She's so boring and last season seems like a lifetime ago, I have genuinely forgotten.  Is she supposed to be a therapist or something?  I suppose that explains her guiding J'Onn through this ordeal in the previous episode; I was wondering what made her qualified to do that, but it seems completely incongruent with the high tech coporate setting they've put her in. And Alex going from Kelly giving advice to her barista to being kidnapped by a shape shifter is a hell a segue.  I have a feeling Alex has been waiting hours to find the right opportunity to bring that up; and it would seem she cracked under the pressure. "You don't want a world full of robots, you just want better people."
Tumblr media
Oh.... Idiot Jed..... How does Brainy even function?  Data was more adept at picking up behavioral cues. Wait, do people really like reading about death?  I mean, I'll read the obits in my weekly hometown newspaper; I try to make it a point of at least paying respect to he recently deceased by reading their name and age at the time of death, but I'm don't go out of my way to scan for newspapers with a corpse on cover. Interesting aside, I was reading said newspaper just last night and noted how a local woman had died at the age of 44 - certainly a tragedy for a family to lose someone at such a fairly young age - and then I also saw that it noted her "husband of 30 years" and now I'm left wondering if one of those numbers was a typo or if this woman got married at 14..... So she hears Billy's heart beating fast and has to use her x-ray vision to confirm it?  What else did she think it could have been? Okay, so Kelly is a Doctor.  Yet the place she works doesn't remotely look like a hospital; and the staff don't look like medical staff.  They (and the set) looks like they're trying to audition for a future JJ Abrams Star Trek film. So Kara is going all over the world to get lunch and coffee, but are any of these items going to still be hot by the time she gets back to the states?  For that matter, how the hell does manage to carry all of this shit?  I have a hard enough time carry my order from McDonald's from car the dozen or so yards into my house; especially if I have to also carry in anything else besides the bag of food and my drink.  The couple of time I had my niece with me also got her something I absolutely asked the server at the drive-thru to put it all in one of those plastic bags they normally put salads in, because they have a handle - a fact I learned not because I have ever previously ordered a salad from McDonald's, but rather because I asked them if they had a bag with a handle they could put my order in to make it easier to carry and they responded, "you mean like a salad bag?" and I respond, "yeah, whatever." I'm just picturing Kara rigging up some sort of harness or something she can wear to help carry things around as she flies internationally; thumbing her nose at all of the customs agencies and international trade violations she's willfully causing. Also, now that Brainy has set it up so her suit materializes as soon as she takes the glasses off, shouldn't she get more clear of the doorway before doing that?  That also raises the question of what happens when she just wants to lounge around without her glasses or is going to bed.  Does she have to sleep in her suit now?  Is it bonded to her skin?  Is there a snooze button that allows her to take off her glasses and not activate the suit?  What if she just needs to remove her glasses to get something out of her eye or to clean the glasses?  Or those times like earlier in the episode when she just brings the glasses down just slightly to use her x-ray vision?  What's the point of no return her glasses have to pass before the process starts?  Can it be immediately reversed when she put the glasses back on; or is it something you have to wait until it's all the way done before you can go the other way? There are so many questions..... Seriously, Kara, Lena would be the only person interested in Lex's journals and there'd be no other constructive use for them other than therapeutic?   Wait just a damn minute, she took her glasses all the way off to x-ray the dead body and didn't generate her suit.  What the fuck?   You lied to us Brainy.  You lied and that can't be forgiven. What, the boy being called J'Onn might be J'Onn?  Whodda thunk it? Although I suppose J'Onn might be a common name on Mars, like John, Jacob or Jingleheimer Schmidt. I can buy that children on Mars or other planets even might develop games similar to hide and seek; it's a basic concept that seems fairly plausible.  What doesn't seem plausible is that children on Mars would play this game as humans. So in the last episode, J'Onn hit a wall in trying to recover his memories; and it was suggested that trying to use the Q-wave technology to go any deeper could do damage to J'Onn.  Now this episode J'Onn barely has to try, with the help of a woman who isn't even a telepath. Kara can fly halfway across the world to get lunch for her and Lena, but forgets to put in an delivery order for dinner with Alex - come on Kara, strap on your harness and go get dinner, chop, chop! You know, if Terrible-Boss gets and more terrible, Kara could probably make bank moonlighting with GrubHub.  Or start her own food delivery service - SupperGirl Should Brainiac have a clapper, as opposed to say, Alexa? Now that I think about it, why is Brainiac using his appearance filter when they're home alone or when he's sleeping for that matter?  Surely these devices don't have an unlimited supply of power; and Brainiac shouldn't be concerned about his appearance in private. Guardian: "Yeah, I came prepared." With what, a glow stick?  Seriously, is this supposed to be not-Spider-woman's not-Kryptonite?  Did I miss a whole big schpiel about this alien thing have some special weakness?  And why didn't Supergirl likewise come prepared? Also, who looped James into this?  Was it Kara? "This device uses magnetic resonance to attract the heavy metals in their ink." You really could have just said "this device des magic" and it'd make about as much sense.  Especially since it's not really ink, but rather some type of alien life form that only mimics the appearance of a tattoo.   Are we supposed to be surprised that it was actually J'Onn who did the mind wipe?  Like I mentioned with the last episode, I'm fairly certain he's wiped other people's minds without the permission; and we definitely know he's done it with their consent. In the last episode, Kelly was able to use her contact lenses to enter J'Onn's mind and interact with him in real time.  Now it appears on a computer monitor and there's a time delay.  In spite of this apparent de-evolution of the technological ability to merge one's mind with technology, this is still some next level shit that the characters just seem to be glossing over as no big deal. So if this...shadow... could kill bug-lady so easily, why even need her at all as an assassin?  Was it for the plausible deniability of the target seeming to die of natural causes Is this going to turn out to be the Shadow Thief?  Maybe Shade?  I kind of hope it's not Shade.  I know he (or sometimes she) has been a villain, but I kinda liked the run in the comics when he was an immortal good guy. Come on Brainiac, there's a fucking difference between "operating at 100%" and the fucking nuance of going overboard with things like food and poems.  It's the sort of difference between being able to open a fucking door and ripping clear off the hinges; or holding someone's hand gently or crushing it.  It's unrealistic to suggest that this quasi-organic-AI doesn't realize you can't go "full thrust" on every conceivable thing, because nothing in nature could function that way.  And if he really needs things in those terms, then it's a matter of variable comprehension of where those critical thresholds are; because 100% maximum food consumption in a meal is not dozen whole pizzas.  That is more than 100% of what one person can physically eat in one sitting and therefore should exceed his logical behavior. On the flip side, mazel tov when things turn physical and Brainiac brings this type of mindset to the bedroom....
youtube
"You were right, I was too open and too trusting. It's all my fault." Fuck you Supergirl Writers, for trying to bring this back to the opening bit between Kelly and the random person she was offering advice to on the street.  J'Onn's brother manipulated Kelly by appearing to her as someone she knew and had at least enough of a past history with as to have a photo of him in her home.  Had he appeared as the street barista or was just walking along the street not even looking for Kelly when Kelly came along, randomly zapping people with Q waves to help make them feel better, whether they asked for that help or not, sure, that would be "her fault". But this was a sneaky fucking telepathic shape shifter was determined to get your to do what he wanted; and while admittedly it barely took him much effort to convince you, it was only because you were legitimately doing what would have been the right thing under any other normal circumstance. "For a friend like you, there are no boundaries." Alright, now the writers are just fucking with us with these two. So Kara evidently didn't just pop in and grabbed the books, but also the watch too; seems she decided that so long as she was committing a felony, she might as well get her money's worth - and I suppose that makes sense.  Is stealing some journals and a watch worse than just stealing the journals and not the watch, if you've only had to break into the one place? Next we'll see that she just cleared out the whole evidence lock-up, because you never know when you might need something else that's being held in Federal custody, and that way she's only had to break the law once; anything after that is just curation.
what did bill and gene talked about the first night they met in "by small and small"? i always got that feeling that babe was missing something there. was it classic hurt him and i will hurt you talk?
It was straight up a hurt him and I’ll hurt you worse talk lol. For me, the bit that Babe was always missing out on was this understanding that Bill and Gene both came to, where it was never really vocalized but they both understood that Gene, as the person who was in a way sort of pulling Babe back from depression/isolation, also then had the capability of hurting Babe worse than anyone else could, of pushing him further into that depression/isolation. Babe was in that fog where he wasn’t feeling much of anything until Gene came along… He was so out of touch both with himself and everyone else that I don’t even think Babe realized just how much Gene meant to him, even though everyone else could see it. And if Gene meant enough to have such a positive effect, Gene definitely meant enough to have a negative effect, and I think Bill was real worried about that.
If that makes any sense lol.
I kinda attempted to write the talk out for you, actually, since you sent this in while I was taking ficlet prompts, and I wasn’t sure if that was you looking for a ficlet or not. Half of the convo is already in By Small and Small from Babe’s POV, though, so maybe you don’t even need this, but here it is anyway haha.
“So you an’ Babe, huh?” Bill says the second Babe’s in the bathroom. He’s staring Gene dead in the eyes, a wide grin on his face, and Gene smiles back the tiniest bit, like he saw this coming. He probably did, the fuckin’ med school brainiac.
“Looks like,” Gene says, looking right back at him. “If he’ll keep me around.”
“You an’ my best friend,” Bill says again, slowly this time.
Gene nods. He doesn’t say anything else, but he’s still looking Bill in the eyes, which Bill thinks seems like a good thing. Bill likes him.
“You know about Julian?” he asks.
“A bit,” Gene says. “What he can tell me, he’s told me.”
Bill tries not to roll his eyes. What he can tell me, he’s told me. Jesus Christ, Bill’s in over his head. Julian woulda gotten such a kick outta this whole talk, just because it’s barely in fuckin’ English.
“Well, lemme tell ya this,” Bill says. “Babe obviously likes you. I ain’t seen the dirty rat smile in a long time, so maybe I owe ya.”
“You don’t,” Gene says. “I don’t even know that’s me doin’ that.”
“It is,” Bill stresses, because it is. Bill wanted it to be him, because Babe’s his brother through and through, but Bill wasn’t what Babe needed, and ain’t nothing wrong with that.
“Well,” Gene says. He eyebrows furrow like he’s deep in thought, and he says, “I like him, too. Edward’s, ah…”
Bill waits a beat for Gene to finish his thought, but Gene never does. Instead, the corners of Gene’s mouth curve upward just the tiniest bit, and Bill watches as Gene tries and fails to rein it in.
Fuckin’ A but these two knuckleheads deserve each other. Bill can’t handle much more of the sap without Fran for backup, so he just decides to go in for the kill and end it.
“Listen,” he says, suddenly serious. He likes Gene, so he’s not trying to scare Gene off, but he’s not trying to not scare Gene off, either. It’s for Babe, is the thing. Bill would do a lot worse for Babe than just play the role of the bad guy, and if Gene’s the kind of guy who can’t handle a little tongue lashing from Bill, he sure as hell won’t stand a chance in front of Babe’s ma. So Bill’s doing him a favor. “You hurt a hair on his head? I’ll come to your house and fuck up your face.”
And Bill would, to tell the truth. That ain’t a lie.
“Ah…” Gene replies, and he doesn’t sound scared or anything, just like he doesn’t know how to respond. Fair, given they were just makin’ nice two seconds ago. “I s’pose it’s best that I don’t do that, then… I wasn’t plannin’ on it before this talk, either.”
Bill snorts out a laugh. That’s good. He says as much, says, “Good,” because Babe deserves good people, and that’s what Bill is: good people. Or, he’s good for Babe, at least, even though he drinks too much and cusses even more. Julian was good people, too, but then they lost him, and somewhere along the line, Bill lost Babe, too. Gene kinda helped find him again, but fuck if that don’t mean Bill won’t scratch and claw at the rest of the world, just to keep ahold of the kinda-Babe that he’s gotten back.
A while ago, when the boys and them were at Toccoa, Bill and Babe squeezed in the back of the booth, Bill would’ve said to just make it through the month would’ve been a success. But then Babe laughed at his phone and Bill had a fucking fist in his throat keeping him from swallowing, from breathing, and all he could feel was how much he missed Babe, even though Babe was right there.
No fucking way he’s letting a pre-med fucking nobody knock Babe back even further just ‘cause he don’t realize what he’s got.
“Good,” Bill says again, because Gene hasn’t said anything else, and Bill needs Gene to understand. “Because Babe’s like a brother to me, and he doesn’t need any more shit, especially not from you.”
He doesn’t know how else to say it. Doesn’t know how to find the words for Our brother just died and if you’re the only one who can make him smile, you’re also the only one who can do a lot worse, or, He lets nobody in anymore but he’s letting you in, and you better recognize the weight of that.
Or maybe what Bill really means is Listen here, you fucking asshole, he likes you and he trusts you and he maybe even loves you, and the last person he had like that was Julian, so you have to understand the kind of power he’s giving you, and you better not fucking betray that, because right now, you’re the only person that I really think can hurt him anymore, and I got a ton of friends that’ll help me hurt you worse if you do.
Or maybe not. Maybe that’s not at all what Bill means, he doesn’t fucking know.
Luckily Gene’s got a brain on him, because he says, “I know. I wouldn’t.”
“Gene,” Bill says. Because this is fucking important. It’s Babe.
“Bill, I know,” Gene says, and Bill hopes he does. Bill likes Gene; he doesn’t want to have to rearrange Gene’s face, but he will if he has to.
“Yeah, yeah,” Bill says, rolling his eyes, and he feels like he’s done his job well enough. Bill’s the fun guy; he’s never been like this for anyone but Julian and Babe, and now his work is cut in half. He thinks maybe he’s done making Gene sweat.
Although Gene doesn’t even look like he’s been sweating, so maybe Bill shouldn’t quit his day job.
“Hey, what’d’ya know about treating gonorrhea?” Bill asks, just to entertain himself, and Gene, to his credit, opens his mouth to speak without lookin’ at all judgmental. Bill laughs, and cuts him off. “Nah, just fuckin’ with you.”
Gene just nods like he’s humoring Bill, and Bill thinks he gets it.
Thanks to the lovely f--------- (who provided the list of episodes to watch and the bits to skip), the Oliver and Chloe Edition cuts down on a lot of annoying false anxiety and Clark stuff from the show. On the downside, however, that can make watching a little confusing at times. The below is intended to help. Also, kryptonite refresher: Green=Death Red=No inhibitions or thinking Blue=No powers
This is the guide that I mentioned in my initial smallville post.
Season Six They're all grown up. Clark still hides out on his farm and he hates Lex now. Clark's father is dead and his mother is a state senator who is hoping to be elected to the national Senate. Chloe is awesome and works for the Daily Planet. Lois works for a tabloid (more or less). Lionel Luthor is now a good guy. Lex and Lana are together. This season opens with smoke and fire. Just go with it. You'll learn everything you need to know as you watch. End of Season Six and Front Half of Seven So, after we leave six, there's the obligatory Oscillation episode (is this real or just a crazy dream?), a drugged Clark/Lois kiss, and etc. The main thing is that Lana and Lex? Not so much with the happiness. Lana miscarries. Lionel has forced Lana to marry Lex. Also, Chloe has learned she can heal-- kind of. She takes on people's injuries and then heals herself. Sometimes she dies for a little bit while this happens. Knowing this really only matters for fic, because by the time you see her try to do it, she can't anymore. Then we go to season seven. Clark has a bizarro version of himself running around. (You'll learn that this show really, really likes not!so-and-so versions of people.) Clark meets his cousin Kara (she's in the credits). Kara is good, but she gets led around a lot this season. Lana and Lex are falling apart. Lana spies a lot on Lex. For your own peace of mind, I recommend skipping the Clark and Lana bits of Siren. They still like each other and over the course of this season they try to reconcile. The problem is that Clark? Not Clark. And Lana doesn't notice. This causes issues in Eight. End of Seven, Prelude to Eight So, Clark and Lana got all domestic for a while-- until everyone realized that Clark=not!Clark. Now there are problems. Chloe is dating Jimmy. Chloe is also infected by Brainiac. Her mental processing speed is amazing. There was a lot of bickering over jewelry that never really becomes that important again. Kara is away, presumed dead or doing her own thing. So, when eight starts, here is what you really need to know: Lex found and destroyed the Fortress of Solitude. He and Clark are both now missing. Chloe was fired from the Daily Planet. She later used her Brainiac skills to hack a government satellite, which then got her arrested. Jimmy started to propose to Chloe, but didn't make it all the way through. Lois now works for the Daily Planet (how she got there from misspelling 'weather' is thanks to both her getting better and dating the former boss of the newspaper (former boss was also a clone of Lex's dead brother, fun, right?)). Lionel is dead and Martha is off in Washington. Lana is gone. She started the Isis Foundation and Chloe now keeps watch over it for her. Lana is still spying on Lex. Both Clark and Chloe have been missing for about a month. Toward the end of the season Clark starts to get annoying. His bits in the episodes are skippable. End of Eight If you skipped the Clark bits toward the end of season eight, here is what you need to know. Clark and Lana are Great Lovers who Can Never Be, because Lana got all her skin or something replaced with a super suit that gives her speed, strength, and invulnerability like Clark. However, the suit also absorbs kryptonite radiation and, in order to stop a bomb, Lana had to absorb enough she is now deadly to Clark. Lana leaves again. There is a magical orb. Tess uses it and Zod (among others) is released. Davis kills Jimmy for good, but show!Jimmy is not comic!Jimmy. He has a younger brother also called Jimmy. Lois has gone to the future and is missing. Clark has decided that being human is what causing all the problems (he lost Lana, Jimmy, etc) and leaves. Oliver and Co. have also gone on their merry way, leaving Chloe alone. Season Nine: The Clark and Zod Edition In season nine Clark gets annoying. To mitigate this I skipped most of his scenes. I also skipped all of the Zod scenes. To be honest, the bad guy this season is a joke. Zod is a clone (yeah another not!character), but on the same trajectory as his real self. He and other aliens came here in the orb, but they don't have their powers. This has made them angry. This ENTIRE season, more or less, is about Zod (and co.) wanting their powers back. During this season Clark is also reconnecting with his alien self and distancing himself from humans, except Lois. He gets increasingly paternalistic over the course of the season and it gets annoying. Zod whines a lot and he, too, is annoying. I highly recommend skipping their scenes. To aid this skippage, you'll also get to skip a lot episodes over the course of season nine. Savior: Watch everything. Clark has feelings issues. Zod has power issues. This sets them up. There is a really annoying reporter; you can ignore him. Metallo: You skip this whole episode. (You didn't even download it). Basically, the annoying reporter is now a cyborg and Tess wants Lois' memories of the future. Rabid: Watch everything. Echo: Watch everything. The thing at the end? A cyborg heart. Does this ever become important? Not that I remember. Roulette: Skip Clark except when he intersects with Oliver's plot. Clark figures out he is not alone alien-wise. Crossfire: You don't download this episode, but I wish I had. In this episode Clark and Lois kiss without drugs and masks for the first time. Oliver takes on an apprentice, the ever-cool Mia. Oliver also suddenly decides that he is still in love with Lois, which is why you don't download this episode. Zod and Tess start building the towers from the future. Kandor: I think there's a good Chloe/Logan scene in this. Otherwise, you just get a lot of flashbacks to Krypton and so on. Clark meets his clone!dad, who promptly dies. The most important bit is his clone!dad's dying words, because they are what propel Clark for the rest of the season. Clark must save Zod. Idol: Another episode you didn't download. Lois starts to figure out that Clark is the Blur. Some wonder twins help Clark trick her. (Twins don't matter; you won't see them again). Lois goes into seizures after another memory flash and is sent to the hospital or something. Pandora: Watch everything. Disciple: Skip the Clark bits that don't include Oliver, Chloe, or talking about Oliver. Basically, Zod wants his powers back and Clark won't help. Absolute Justice: This is an hour and a half long. Watch everything. This is the episode where the writers realized that Zod seeking power was not going to sustain a full season and so they bring in a new bad guy. Warrior: Watch everything. Lois is cool this episode. Persuasion: Another ep not downloaded. Clark got the power to make people do whatever he said. He uses this power to make Lois go all domestic on him. Clark destroys the towers that would have turned the sun red. Conspiracy: If you skip the Clark and Zod bits, then all you really need to know is that Clark unknowingly gives Zod back his powers via blood. Clark is also helping the powerless Kandorians adjust to a life on earth. Zod doesn't like this because it splits his power base between those that follow him and those that follow Clark. Escape: Watch everything. There is another not!character bit at the end that won't be very important if you keep skipping the Clark bits. Checkmate: Watch everything. Tess, as you can see, is on everyone and no one's side. Upgrade: You didn't d/l. Zod!Blur and Lois are still chatting. Clark learns about Chloe's weapon cache and decides to join Zod's side for an episode (red kryptonite plays a role in this). He shows Zod the Fortress of Solitude. Zod uses his blood to give powers to those loyal to him. Charade: Another not d/l'd. Clark and Lois are fired. The Red Queen enters the stages. Clark!Blur breaks things off with Lois after he learns about Zod!Blur. You're finally at the end. I recommend watching everything from hereon out. The Book of Rao is something Zod wants and Clark doesn't want Zod to have. Remember, no matter how bad Zod may be, Clark cannot kill him. He promised his clone!dad that he would save Zod.
A man named Ardyn Izunia who’s the Chancellor of Niflheim came by for a visit to talk to my mother, Ravus, Luna and me. He didn’t look very nice and I felt like he was giving all of us a weird look… I didn’t understand him very much, but he said that he wanted to make some kind of pact with us. I didn’t understand any of it, so when the meeting was over I asked Ravus what was this pact Ardyn kept on talking about. Ravus told me Ardyn wanted to make a pact with us in order for us to have aid from Niflheim in defending Tenebrae’s crystal, because the power of the crystal’s barrier was beginning to weaken. But mother saw it in Ardyn’s eyes that it wasn’t exactly what he wanted. Even now we still don’t know what he’s up to, so it was best to keep an eye out.
I don’t like Ardyn. He also smells like he’s either rotting or he never took a shower in his life. He makes me uncomfortable and I don’t want him around any longer.
I’m lost. I don’t think I have a family. Maybe I did, but I don’t remember them. Luna always has to go somewhere, and Gentiana just disappears or appears every now and then. So I’m all alone with Umbra.
Pryna ran off somewhere to look for somebody named Noctis. Now I’m all alone with Umbra. He took me out to the back for some fresh air. I guess he saw I wasn’t happy, but he reminded me that Pryna would return. I hope she returns with Luna and Gentiana.
Gentiana came back with Luna, but no sign of Pryna. Luna told me that earlier that before I woke up, she told Pryna to deliver a message to Noctis and it shouldn’t have taken her so long to come back to Tenebrae.
Pryna hasn’t come back in days. Luna and I are worried.
M.E. 744 November 6
Pryna came back and she had a handkerchief on her leg that said “Prompto” on it. I wonder who could that be. Luna was happy to have Pryna back and so was I. She wanted to thank him for finding her and taking care of her. Somehow Gentiana managed to find out where this Prompto person lived, and Luna wrote a thank you letter to him.
M.E. 744 November 3
Gentiana is now my mentor. She and Luna helped me learn about the world of Eos again and they gave me some homework too. Oh how much I hated doing homework, but I learned from them. Luna was teaching me how to read, write, and speak our language again. I got the reading down. Learning our foreign language was tough. I wonder if I’ll ever remember all of it.
Gentiana started mentoring me on how I can control my powers. Apparently I tend to summon out weapons in my sleep, or when I become too scared. CONCEAL DON’T FEEL. DON’T LET THEM KNOWWWWW. WELL NOW THEY KNOWWWWWW.
Tumblr media
M.E. 750 February 14
It took a whole lot of years of training for me to learn how to control my powers, but I’m definitely getting it now. I better thank Gentiana the next time I see her. Now I’m out fighting MTs, daemons, and whatever else stands in my way.
M.E. 751 December 1
Those fools of Niflheim should be dead. The next time I see them they’ll die by my hands. Who was the lady of a tramp that put me through hell? Oh right. I think her name was Aranea Highwind. I hate her and I despise her as much as I despise that skank of a chancellor and Verstael. I was beat dozens, drugged dozens, tortured dozens, and raped. It was all because I refused to be a lapdog like my brother. That and apparently I have the oracle blood, but why don’t I have those oracle powers like my sister? They meant to take my sister for her oracle blood and power, but she was already becoming impure, so they decided to take me for my oracle blood, and somehow they knew I had Etro’s powers.
Everything is complicated. I hate Niflheim. I’ll never forgive Aranea for being part of them and for being part of the abuse and torture she had done to me. I hate to admit, but because it all hurt so much, I screamed like everyone else would. I kept getting asked the same old god damn question if I’d continue to resist to become some kind of sorry ass lapdog for them to have me and mate with me for a child of the blood of the oracle and Etro’s powers. But why? It doesn’t make sense why they’d want oracle blood. What’s so fucking special about it? You heal someone from a disease and then internally your blood starts to become impure like my sister’s. Not that I would ever want them to take Luna, but why couldn’t they take her impure blood? I was pure until the old bastard Besithia took my body. What a dirty old dog he is. He’s definitely on my shit list.
Another day I refused over the same shit and the same old routine continued. Beating, torture, rape. The lady of a tramp (totally not that Highwind girl) added to my beating and torture. I’ll never forget when she even tried to drown me in freezing cold water. I couldn’t scream or cry anymore. I don’t remember what happened after that, but the next thing I knew, I was still alive and back in Tenebrae, and apparently Edgy-Brainiac (totally not Ravus) was there with me. He told me that Aranea was actually the one who saved my life and brought me back here and she told him everything that happened. But I couldn’t believe him. How can someone, who’s been beating me up and torturing me for ages suddenly have a change of heart? I can clearly remember she was the one who took me captive to become the old bastard’s lapdog, and she tried to kill me!
M.E. 757 November 24
Thank the gods, Prompto was still alive in Gralea at Zegnatus Keep. All those injuries and bruises… god damn though. I wonder how long he was held in there for. I can’t believe that I can still remember that same cell he was in for torture as well as that crucifix they tortured him on. That was the same exact cell I was held in for ages and was beat and tortured in… by those generals and Aranea. I didn’t want to go in there, but Prompto was in there and of course we had to get him out. If we didn’t then he’d lose himself. I don’t wanna lose him and neither do the other guys.
On our way to the crystal, everyone decided to get some rest. I couldn’t really get any rest. The whole place was making me feel nauseous from the memories I had been here. I couldn’t tell if it was day or night outside since there’s hardly any windows. The others couldn’t really tell either, but Glaido had told us the last time he remembered, it was night outside.
Prompto told us everything that happened and that Aranea had actually helped him in battle with all of those Nifs and MTs.
I guess Prompto couldn’t get any rest either. He sat out of the bedroom we were all staying in, and sat out with me. Noct and the other guys were already asleep. We wondered if it was day or night out. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the outside world. I kind of miss it.
Because me and Prompto weren’t able to sleep very well after all the troubles we went through because of that bastard of a chancellor, we stood up and just talked. I wanted to take him outside to the porch where Loqi use to take me to when I was captured here, but unfortunately with all of those MTs on watch, and Ardyn is probably lurking somewhere, I wasn’t able to. Prompto said it was alright, but I still felt a little horrible.
While me and Prompto were talking, I think just about when I started traveling with him and the others, we’re quite alike in some ways. Maybe that’s why even if just as a joke, I can’t ever bring myself to slap him across the face as much as I sometimes want to, punch him, kick his ass, and so forth. Perhaps that must be why I tend to just... react whenever something was about to get to him. It’s like I wanna protect him and watch his back. When I think about all the times we traveled together and fought battles with each other, he never really left my side at all. He would give it his all to watch mine and everyone else’s backs. I honestly did the same to. Well I try. I may never be as strong as my brother and sister, but trying is better than just standing around like some sort of damsel in distress.
M.E. 766 September 26
Whenever I see Aranea, to this... I guess night since the world is literally full of darkness now and there hasn’t been any sunlight at all, I can never bring myself to forgive her. When I see her I feel like I’m going through pain again, but of course I have to put on a face. She has stopped by from time to time whenever she felt like it and helped everyone fight off the daemons that took over.
As much as I can never feel very comfortable around Aranea and I don’t think we’ll ever be on good-terms, if it wasn’t for her, Prompto would have probably been dead back in Niflheim. I never got to thank her for saving his life as well as mine. Sometimes I wonder if she deserves my thanks. It’s not like I hate that that much anymore, but I still don’t see myself getting comfortable around her. But... according to Prompto, Aranea may be a hard ass, but she means well like a mother.
