3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently, I'm writing for my current obsession, Final Fnatasy 14 as well as working on my last fanfic for GW2 as I've long since began leaving the game behind after finishing EoD.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Gold Amidst Snow (MDZS), Inquiry (MDZS), Never Envy (MDZS), Flight (SVSSS), Dream Walker (MDZS) As you can see, I was really into MoXiang TongXiu's works in the past and while I still love them with all my heart, I've taken a break from them to enjoy other works!

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yep! I try my best to reply as much as I can <3

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Earth Is My Body and Water Is My Blood (MDZS) because I kept it canon-compliant, which is bad for the character as she happened to be a minor villain in the story. It was interesting exploring what might have been going on and somehow recasting the light on her to be far more sympathetic than the original story portrayed her to be.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Definitely Is That a Hat in Your Pants or Are You Just Happy to See Me? (GW2) the rediculous name and the fact it's from the POV of Rama (my love, my king, my everything) who is characteristically somewhat of a dork makes for a cute and lovely ending!

8. Do you get hate on fic?

Not at all, thankfully!

9. Do you write smut?

I tried but writing it is just too hard, so I gave up lol

10. Do you write crossovers?

Yes!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope, and I hope it stays that way.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, someone had asked to make a Russian translation of Gold Amidst Snow and I saw no reason to deny it.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope, I don't know how one would go about co-writing a fanfic, I never tried before, but it looks fun!

14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?

I will always melt for some good ol' Bagginshield! The Hobbit featured greatly and I blame Bilbo and Thorin for making me fond of people going from disliking each other to loving each other!

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?

In Sun and Rain (LOTR) mostly because I have no ideas on how to approach it and am mainly using it as a way to experiment with simpler and more slice of life type stories.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Descriptions, I can describe places and people, how things work, and how a person ticks. If it needs describing I can probably do it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue, I know a character and I can trace their wants and desires but I never know how they want to speak. Their voices take a while to find and only after writing them for a while. It's a pain considering I love exploring character relationships.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I love foreign language phrases in fic, it feels so natural for me, probably because I come from a background where it's usual to hear someone switch language as they go about their day. With that said, the best way I've seen it executed is by having hover translations like in the amazing @noverturemusings fanfictions!

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Hahaha, Transformers. It was a weird Humanoid AU where a girl isekai's into a female Starscream. Good times, good times!

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

Hands down, it has to be Is That a Hat in Your Pants or Are You Just Happy to See Me? I had so much fun writing from Rama's POV and I like to go back and reread it when I have a bad day, it's my comfort fic!

Terrible Fic Ideas #18: ITFOYL, but make it a time loop

One of my favorite fics of all time is In the face of your light by @noverturemusings, in which a male Lavellan is sent back in time for reasons at first unknown. But I, being me, have always wondered what if we take the precept one step further.

Or: What if Lavellan and Solas were caught in a time loop, relieving the events of the Conclave explosion until their inevitable demise over and over and over again?

aka the Time Loops are Forever fic

Just imagine it:

The original timeline goes just as in canon. Key here is that a elven Inquisitor romanced Solas and had their heart broken and trampled on by the end. (I'm inclined to go with a male Inquisitor simply because the only Lavellan/Solas fics I've liked had a male Lavellan, but either will do. I've chosen to use Mahanon here.)

After three years of fighting each other post-Trespasser, Solas succeeds in tearing down the Veil, which weakens him enough that Mahanon can kill him at the moment of his success.

Although dying, Solas kills his killer in turn...

...and then the world resets.

The first time the world resets, Mahanon stabs Solas through the heart even as his other wrist is seized and forced toward the first rift. Cassandra strikes him down a handful of seconds later and - presumably - the world ends without the magic needed to close the Breach.

The second time he waits until they've sealed the Breach at the end of Wrath of Heaven, then slices Solas' throat while he sleeps. Mahanon flees Haven like the thief in the night he is but is slain by bandits - or mercenaries - or mercenary bandits - who think he killed the Divine less than a week later.

During loop three, Mahanon does the same as previous but runs in the opposite direction on the vague theory that the Avaar will at least wait to hear his side of the story before killing him over the death of a woman who couldn't be bothered to take an interest in any of Thedas' problems until it threatened her own personal power. He manages to last six months that time, until he and everyone else is killed by the unremitting expansion of the Veil, and Mahanon uses that time to think for once instead of act.

The fourth go around he tries. He tries so damn hard to get everything right - to sideline the arrogant ass of an ancient Elvhen god and eliminate any chance he might have of building a power base out of the smoking remains of the Inquisition. Mahanon goes after the Templars rather than the mages, makes sure Briala is executed and all her dirty boudoir secrets exposed, and generally goes out of his way to let people know how little he credits the man he - in his first life - had trusted to the ends of the earth.

It works, in that it takes Solas seven whole years to tear down the Veil rather than barely three...

...but that's of little comfort when Mahanon wakes up chained to the Chantry prison floor - again - feeling ancient in a body which hasn't yet seen war or devastation or even twenty summers.

During his fifth reset, he seriously contemplates slitting his own throat as he waits for the inevitable and only decides against it because the idea of going to all the hassle of bleeding out only to wake up five minutes in the past on a pristine floor is enough to have him teetering on the edge of madness - assuming, of course, that there's anything left of his sanity. So Mahanon sits in silence until Cassandra comes to make her accusations, then silently trails behind her as she leads him once more to his destiny and his doom.

He wordlessly closes the rift . He soundlessly seals the Breach. He wakes up in Haven three days later, lays silent and unmoving in the bed that's still too soft after five lifetimes amongst the shems, and wonders which god he offended so terribly for this to be his fate. He stays in bed for three more days before Cassandra brings Solas to examine him, wondering if the mark addled Mahanon's wits.

Solas is kind during this life - kinder perhaps than in was in the original timeline. Certainly more genuine. Hypocritical bastard tells Mahanon not lose himself to the grief and dies in that life trying to protect Mahanon from a Red Templar. He fails, Solas' blood still on the blade as it pierces Mahanon's heart...

...and Mahanon wakes up in his six loop screaming a word he hasn't spoken since the original timeline: "Vhenan."

Loop six is where I imagine the story starting, which Cassandra bringing Solas in to examine Mahanon and asking him to translate...

...at which point Solas finally, finally realizes that he and Mahanon had been going through the time loops together, and the loops haven't been dreams or imaginings or alternate universes he must contend with, but time repeating itself.

...which changes things.

Honestly, my muse starts to waver around here. I'm inclined to have the sixth and final loop be Solas learning that he can't turn back the clock however much he regrets his previous actions and seeking to make amends - to both Mahanon and elves - as best he can. But I also like the idea that they try, and try, and try, only to realize that love isn't enough to keep them together, and that either Solas must let Mahanon kill him to preserve the world as it is or Mahanon must let Solas kill him to restore the world as it was in some sort of blood magic ritual that will stop the loops for good.

Bonuses include 1) Solas and Mahanon having entirely too much baggage to function for the first half of loop six without screaming at each other in elven every time they try to have a conversation. The rest of the inner circle concludes, quite rightly, they are ex-lovers and Varric would kill for the details, 2) Nearly every weirdness caused living through the same events multiple times is written off as general elvish weirdness by everyone else in the Inquisition, and 3) the truth not coming out at a suitably dramatic moment, like in the Fade or facing Corpheyus, but during the middle of something incredibly mundane, like the middle of a Diamondback game ("You've killed me four times, that has to be worth something.")

1. Hawthorn [Original Work] -- The story about a prince kidnapped by an assassin, and for some divinedamned reason, asks the dude to be his knight (there’s a reason, I swear). A very slow burn love story with NO STOLKHOLM SYNDROME -- (being uploaded on tapas atm :D, and I’m also working on an AU for Insomnia’s (late) birthday)

2. Morpheus (PLACEHOLDER NAME) [Video Game] -- A newborn Dustling is left to explore a corrupted version of the Dreamscape, looking for their Mushy, and trying to figure out what is tainting the world they were born in.

3. A Matter of Principle [dsmp fanfic] - A written telling of Sam and Ponk’s relationship leading up to the whole... arm, dealio. Third chapter is giving me an aneurysm but I’m very slowly getting there.

4. Everything He Cares About [dsmp fanfic] - A fic exploring karlnapity, on hold until the stream this week. Memory loss angst, abandonment angst, and having to deal with two people constantly going missing angst :’) coming soon i swear --

5. The Wolves in your Reflections [dragon age fanfic] - I swear I haven’t abandoned this one, I’m just a bit burnt out of dragon age :’) Athros is a child who’s been sucked into the plot of an ancient tevinter magister, suffering loss and pain throughout his journey as the now titled “Herald of Andraste”... if you don’t like children suffering, don’t read this --

Mkay so these are the main ones I’m still working on. I have approximately 30 wips in total, most of which I’m probably never going back to, but you never know.

11. Something you want to do again next year?

Oooo. Hmmm. Make a big investment on my self-expression. I did that in smaller ways this year and the rush of getting to make those choices for myself was insane. I'd love to scale that up even more in 2023.

14. Favorite book you read this year?

SUCH a good question. Honestly my favorite pieces of writing this year have all been fan creations. "In the face of your light" by @noverturemusings was my favorite fic of the year, but I've also been reading New Blood on AO3 and FFN by an author called artemisgirl, and it's truly phenomenal. So a tie between those, I think.

20. What's something you learned this year?

Oh jesus. I learned a TON this year, but nothing as important as realizing that I really am enough. I am big on self-help and personal healing, and I've been practicing that a whole lot since 2020 kinda broke the self-reflection pot right open. I've been working on everything---trauma, self-esteem, healthy boundaries, limiting beliefs---and the greatest lesson I'm walking away with this year is that I'm okay. I'm really okay. I'm in that stage of healing where I've started to treat it like a race---like I'll get to the finish line and finally be Healed and Complete, with nothing left to do. I've recognized that that isn't the goal, nor is it true to life. We are all works in progress. And I'm okay with who I am in this moment. More shall come, but I'm okay where I am. That's been pivotal.

it was fascinating to go through this chapter again, to pay attention not to the big picture, but the small details. plot-wise. relationships-wise. it gave me many feels. many feels.

also, I’m not sure if you set out to write a story about identity and discovering who you (truly) are, @noverturemusings, but that’s certainly what is resonating with me strongly, every single time I read it.

(which, including going back for these collage-things, is three times now)

I love it.

also also, I really love doing these things, they are oddly relaxing and soothing, in a way (even as my editing software drives me nuts occasionally) but they keep getting longer and longer ... (and bigger .... 😅😅😅)
