I want to remind everyone that Jennette and Ijekiel’s relationship in the novel never improves. Ijekiel may have ‘moved on’, but it wasn’t really of his own accord—it’s because Athy literally encouraged him to go with Jennette (which I’ve already mentioned whose encouragement stems from her rose-tinted glasses of dehumanizing both Ijekiel and Jennette). Jennette, whose feelings and psyche we’ve delved into multiple times throughout the novel, hates Ijekiel’s falsity the most. She may be afraid of his anger and frustration, but that’s because it would be so foreign to her—but at the same time, it would be relief because at the very least it means it’s Ijekiel finally laying his feelings bare to her. But Ijekiel made it clear to her during his rejection that he has no intention to ever be genuine to her—that he will keep up his mask, monitor his emotions closely while still spitting out cruel words as if he were angry, though he dare not present so. That’s what scares her most, and what she despises terribly.
So the novel ends with Jennette exiled to outside of Obelia, waking up after attempting to off herself with her magic, alone with the man who just conveyed to her that he will never be genuine or truthful with her. In Ijekiel’s side, the woman he loved just told him to go with Jennette—who he has SO much unpacked baggage with already, being that he never saw or acknowledged Jennette as a woman (not romantically, I’m saying he constantly views her as a child despite her being an adult and having multiple enigmas, personal conflict, and growth through the years), still and will always view her as someone who will chase after him and ignore his feelings or opinions (which stems from an image he himself wanted to uphold, Jennette always wanted him to give his true opinions and gave him PLENTY of times to reject her and her requests), and overall just has so much pent up feelings and resentment for Jennette for little things throughout his childhood that’s too much to resolve without a proper heart-to-heart with Jennette—which he already resolved to never doing.
Which ends the novel with both of them at basically their most uncomfortable, stuck with the person they very much never want to be around. It’s hell. It’s gonna be hell. They’re practically strangers—people who’ve been around each other for nearly two decades, but don’t know the first thing about the other. And now it’s extremely awkward because of their fight, and the line Ijekiel drew that because of Jennette’s extremely fragile mental state, will force Ijekiel to have to be the first one to reach out. And he won’t. Because he’s not used to reaching out, especially to Jennette of all people (as Jennette’s always been the one to try and reach out, and he’s always been the one to put up a mask and comply even if he truly wishes not to).
And we know this is true, because Athy and Lucas literally talk about it at the end of the LP sidestories. After Athy comes back from her LP adventure, she decides to take a trip and visit Jennette and Ijekiel—and Lucas states something along the lines of how they don’t even meet eachother’s eyes (Athy takes it as both of them not dating, which I’m completely confused about, and chalk it up to Plutus forcing a pairing somewhat, as when we last saw them they couldn’t even be called friends). When Athy and Jennette exchange letters, there is no mention of Jennette and Ijekiel’s relationship. Athy even remarks that, before Jennette started exchanging letters, her letters with Ijekiel were mostly of Jennette’s condition because (she) was worried about her (not that Ijekiel talks about Jennette on his own, Athy has to inquire about Jennette—which was also what Ijekiel was jealous of right before his rejection of Jennette, that Athy only seemed to love and ask about Jennette in his presence). Nothing has improved since the official end of the novel, and it’s the last we see of them, and I honestly don’t really have much faith that it’ll improve anytime soon. At least, not without Athy’s intervention, but that would require more of Athy’s own growth.

WHO MADE ME A PRINCESS - chapter 90
Something that always interested me about Ijekiel's character was his tense relationship with his father, how his entire life he was living under the terms that his father wanted and that was exhausting him and seeing how the obedient son rebelled against him in this scene I liked it a lot. I would have liked to have seen more of Ijekiel and Roger's drama 😮💨

Defitnely volumen 7 is the best of wmmap, we have the beautiful cover of Athy with sean diana, we have the beautiful Athy with the pink dress and the cute little Lucas in the back. I also love how athy is in the front and Lucas in the back.
Yeah, in my opinion, volume 7 is the absolute best. Gorgeous and very creative cover that hits you right in the heart, the beautiful Athy wearing a pink dress which really reminds me of that one Diana panel, chibi Lucas who fits so nicely with the cover (the World Tree background on the cover + little Lucas holding a branch of the World Tree), the lucathy chibis in Spoon's author notes.
Volume 7 is just unmatched. Unparalleled. Immaculate.
I think my covers ranking would be...
Volume 7 (swan Diana and Athy) > Volume 9 JP edition (the one with Athy, Claude and Ana) > Volume 8 (lucathy and Ijekiel) > Volume 9 (where is Lily?) > Volume 5 (claudiana and baby Athy) > Volume 1 (the classic) > Volume 3 (Claude and Athy walking through the gardens with the parasol) > Volume 4 (Athy and Jennette) > Volume 2 (Lucas and Ijekiel) > Volume 6 (Claude and Ana) > Volume 5 JP edition (the one with Claude and Athy wearing blue and white matching outfits) > Volume 8 JP edition (gay couple and their daughter)
I like them all, but I heavily prefer the ones who have Athy for obvious reasons lol, and I also value that they have creative composition or symbolism. Volume 1 ranks so right because of it being so iconic, and the parallel with volume 9.
#wmmap#Spoon really outdid herself with that one. i love vols 8 and 9 but i don't think any of them is quite up there with vol 7 for me#if the manhwa had followed the novel more closely i would have loved an angsty cover with Ijekiel and Jennette#and a Lily Felix and Athy cover#and a LP Athy + Athy one!!

WMMAP, vol. 2 Chinese novel Special Edition!
Hi everyone! I was finally able to get my hands on the Chinese novel limited edition and I had to make a post about it because everything just looks so cute <3
Actually, I wanted to get vol. 1 as well, but it already was sold out everywhere…
This edition is so so beautiful! I especially like it because if you look very closely you can see they added “blessing and glory upon the obelian empire” on the box. I don’t know if this present in other editions as well but it’s such a cool detail.
These are the other merch included:
transparent poster, front and back!
Claudiana poster 🥹
athanasia’s acrylic stand and pin
lucas and ijekiel’s cards
wmmap stickers (was too lazy to show them all lol)
Aaand this was the merch which shocked me the most? At first I thought it was something similar to a keychain but when I opened Athy’s package, I could smell a strong and sweet scent from it… I guess it is an air freshener! You know, the ones you put in your cars…
(Maybe someone pointed it out before, but I didn’t know at all lol)
That was all guys! Here is something else I got hehe:
Oh and guess what? Athy was sold out… again 🥹

On Ijekiel and Jennette's relationship
It has dawned on me that Ijekiel and Jennette hardly know each other. From my perspective it looks like Jennette spend the first few years of her life either with her aunt Rosalia or the Margaritas. Perhaps she was first shoved from one family to the other for neither was willing to take risks, which would further explain her anxious attachment style that is often associated with an inconsistent parenting pattern.
Then Roger bought Jennette home as his ward with the intention to marry her to Ijekiel one day. 7~ year old Ijekiel did not know how to describe Jennette when Athy asks him what kind of girl she is, the only thing he knows is that she has become his responsibility from now on.
One might expect that they would grow closer over the years but almost 10 years later Jennette still doesn't know anything about him. Not even simple things like his favourite color or his hobbies.
Jennette craved his attention but due to her status as a hidden royal and the special treatment she received from Roger, she was in a position where they could never be equals. Interestingly in this case there has occured a rare gender reversal. The girl is the dominant one and the boy the subservient one. Ijekiel did everything that was asked of him not by his own volitation but because he treated it like an assignment that was given to him by his father.
Truthfully young Ijekiel seemed somewhat indifferent towards Jennette. Like he couldn't make more of her than a basket full of kittens. He played her games but he never introduced his own hobbies to her or felt comfortable to share his inner thoughts with her. There is a scene in the novel around chapter 56-62 where Jennette asks Ijekiel to go shopping for dresses with her and it looks like he wants to refuse but eventually he agrees when Jennette persists. Jennette thinks bitterly to herself something along the lines of: "Sometimes it feels like you wouldn't want to spend time with me unless I asked you to."
When Ijekiel left to stuy in Arlanta he seemed much happier than when he was with Jennette.
Once I said I saw Ijekiel and Jennette more as siblings but I don't think so anymore. They were put into a situation where they were not allowed to view each other as family or grow close to one another as children. I believe Roger send Ijekiel to study in Arlanta to prevent the Westermark effect. All Jennette wanted was a family and Ijekiel was more inclined to give her that than romantic love, which would have shaped up to become a problem for Roger's plan.
Before Ijekiel travels to Arlanta he promises to write her letters and visit her during his holidays, yet this still doesn't seem to have bought them closer. If anything Ijekiel's time in Arlanta made Jennette all the more lonelier. (I also doubt that Ijekiel spend his entire vocation with Jennette since he was also friends with other students like Cabel Ernest and they visited each other frequently.) When Ijekiel takes Jennette to a cafe and Athy eavesdrops on them, Lucas notes that their conversation seemed contentless and boring and while this could be just Lucas being Lucas, I have to agree that their chats were not very deep unless Athanasia was concerned.
Ijekiel buys Jennette dolls and ribbons to compensate her for the love his family is not willing to give her and this behaviour persists until their late teens when she has long outgrown the age where you play with dolls, but Ijekiel still continues to gift her toys because he doesn't know how else to comfort her. To Ijekiel Jennette is still the little girl he left behind in tears when he traveled away to study in Arlanta. Which makes their marriage in The Lovely Princess all the more sadder. Their relationship is build on abandonment issues, duty and guilt. They weren't lovers. They were not even brother and sister to each other. They were hardly friends.
How I interpret their relationship: Jennette did not love Ijekiel, but he was always there for her when she was grieving. Isolated as she was it was easy for Roger to foster her dependency to Ijekiel and make her believe that she would want him romantically. In truth Jennette just didn't want to lose any more people and marriage was a way to tie two people together for the rest of their lives. As for Ijekiel, I believe that he pitied Jennette and treated her as his responsibility but in another world where they were not aquainted through family they would not even be friends. They don't seem to share any common interests. They didn't know each other. At times Ijekiel might have resented her secretly but she also gave him a clear goal and stability in life. Athy's death in The Lovely Princess broke them both and they might have coped by finding solace in one another.

Ijekiel deserves to get criticized a little for noticing something is off but never telling Jennette to be careful. Is it because he felt like protecting her was his responsibility and he didn't trust her to be able to protect herself? Why has no one ever taught Jennette not to go away with strangers, make promises about keeping each other's secrets and accept an older man's gifts? Roger wanted her to be naive and innocent, but doesn't he realize that this makes Jennette easy to take advantage of by others too?
Why didn't Ijekiel view it as his responsibility to give her a healthy dose of wariness of strangers for her own safety? Ijekiel was Jennette's companion on the rare occasions she was allowed to visit the nearby town. If novel Athy had to beat up a bunch of men who harrassed them, then there's a huge chance something similar must have happened to young Jennette and Ijekiel too. It was very irresponsible for him to leave his foster sister alone without a word and run after someone who might have been his crush. Jennette could have gotten herself kidnapped by some creeps if the person standing next to her hadn't been her father.

【 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐌𝐄 𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒 】 - reversed fates
What if the roles were reversed? Instead of Athy being reincarnated, what if it was Jennette? ... a hypothetical au I've been musing about
Let's imagine: some girl from, I'm gonna say Belgium (just something other than Korea) read Lovely Princess, but died in some tragic accident.
I wouldn't say.. she liked the book. She recognized it was very childish, and most of the characters were quite shallow. She didn't understand how certain characters, like Claude, were paraded as Paragons in the book, when they were clearly bad people.
She didn't have much of an opinion on Jennette; just that everything catered to her. Now.. a character she really genuinely liked, was Athanasia.
Despite being a threat to her position, Athanasia taught Jennette the ways of the Palace, and never tried to harm her, even as her dream of Claude loving her slipped away into Jennette's hands.
So this (for now nameless) girl was shocked and appauled when Athanasia was accused of poisoning Jennette. She couldn't be more angry! The one character who seemed to have some sense of morals (aside from Jennette, generally) was mercilessly killed off in the most gruesome way imagineable.
It's not very clear in the Manhwa what state Jennette was in when she was poisoned (the Manhwa and Novel are DIFFERENT, people). But in my interpretation, Jennette was unconcious dealng with.. y'know, being poisoned. It was too late by the time she woke up.
Our protagonist rage-quits the novel after that, having no desire to read the "happy ending" everyone gets despite her favorite character's demise.
She's ready to move on with her life and forget that awful book, but.. looses her life soon after.
...
Now is the start to my ideas for after she reincarnates. Yay!
...
After reincarnating, it doesn't take her long to realize the perdiciment she's in.
She'd become Jennette, the Female Lead of "Lovely Princess"! Unlike most heroines in her position, her fate seemed to be pretty good. Seemed.
You see, she never finished the novel. She had no idea what happened after Athanasia was executed. It's an assumption to say that Jennette, Claude, Ijekiel and the Duke had happy endings.
Despite that, she knew there wasn't any kind of impending doom awaiting her. So for a while, she was pretty chill.
By the time she was a few months old, the reality of this world had been weighing on her. This was her new life; it wasn't a book, the people in it were real. Athanasia was real.
For a while, she wasn't exactly sure what to do. Should she just.. not get introduced to Claude? But defying the Duke wouldn't exactly be easy. And even if she never gets introduced, it's not like Claude would just start loving Athy anyway; he never did, so why would he start out of nowhere?
There wasn't much she could do yet as an infant, anyway
...
After she turned 4, she realized Jennette's "Happy Life" wasn't as glorified as it was in the novel.
Ijekiel was nice enough, for the time. But the Duke was another story. He wasn't outwardly cruel like Claude, but it became apparent to Jennette that the Duke in the novel didn't have Jennette as his ward because he "just wanted her to be happy".
Jennette was being used by the Duke to get to the throne. That much, she understood early on.
It made sense to her then. He must have conspired with Jennette's aunt to place her on the throne. I mean, why else would Rosalia frame Athanasia? For kicks and giggles?
..That made our current Jennette very angry. In the novel, Jennette didn't even care about the throne, yet she was used by everyone around her for power.
Both Athanasia and Jennette were failed by the adults around them. It wasn't fair that just because she existed, Athanasia was going to die..
That's when she decided. With the OP powers and plot armor as the Female Lead, she was going to make Athanasia's dreams come true, and give everyone a happy ending!
She knew that she couldn't avoid being used by the Duke, being introduced to Claude in some way. So she decided it would be on her own terms.
If Claude loved Jennette in the novel, he could love Athanasia. Right? In this world where everything exists to make the Protagonist happy, if her one wish is for she, Athanasia and Claude to be a happy family, surely it would have to happen..
..Right?

"Jennette suffer more"
"Athanasia suffer more"
Shut the fuck you, you know damn well they would hate you if they EVER hear you comparing the two of them. I'm tired of seeing those damn "fans" hate Athanasia and Jennette while liking every other characters who literally made them suffer and are literally devils from heaven. Kindly fuck off if you don't like them because if you read the manhwa, you are going to be seeing them. End of discussion.
"Athanasia should have never forgiven Claude"
IS THAT YOUR DECISION TO MAKE?! ARE YOU ATHANASIA?! There are many revenge tropes, go watch them. Roxanna is great.
"Jennette killed Athanasia"
I thought we agreed that it was in fact Claude AND Jennette's aunt who killed Athanasia? Jennette was probably still poisoned at that time to even be able to speak.
"Athanasia should have helped this character"
NO. No, no. She should help herself first. Especially when she's literally running away from death like 99% of the episodes. I don't know how she manage that, I could never. Like her dead uncle suddenly coming back to life and the Empire is at the verge of getting destroyed and her father is about to die, you think she has the time to think about romance or help your favourite character?! No. Stay mad.
"Jennette is a pick me"
Do you even know what a pick me is? A pick me is a person who bring down others. Jennette is not bringing down anyone, she just want to be love. She just want to live.
"This should have happen" "This manhwa should have included this." "Wmmap should have lallalalala"
Why do you even read this manhwa if you have so much to complain? Go pick up another book that fit your type. I'm sure there are plently of it. At this point, start your own novel.
"Athanasia should have picked Ijekiel"
"Athanasia should have picked Lucas"
How about she can pick anyone she wants? She can love who she wants. Go touch grass or write yourself a fanfic if you seriously want them to get together.
Thank you for listening to my rants<3

Now that the novel is officially being translated, it’s genuinely one of the worst novels I’ve read as a writer (like seriously, the format is that of a middle school grade novel), with a main character who can’t help but irritate. Lee Jihye’s actions are often hypocritical, lacking awareness and acknowledgement of those around her, especially concerning those who appear within the original “Lovely Princess” novel.
She started off with a loose goal of surviving for the first half of the novel, and when that situation is resolved the whole second half of the novel she acts carelessly without a goal or drive. Rather than a main character slowly going through development, for the whole second half of the novel she acts more as a narrator than an actual character with dreams or desires and interacts with others without any sort of meaning or consideration. It’s suddenly at the climax at the very end of the story when she has a very abrupt epitome of “Oh, all of these people who I’ve been treating as fictional characters are actually flawed people with struggles”, before returning to her carefree way of life right as the story closes. However, there is no build up to this realization—rather, it presents as a thought that comes only because the situation called for it. She only seems to easily see people outside of the novel as ‘human’—people like her maids Hannah, Seth, or the wizards of the tower, or even Lucas himself. However, when it comes to the people who appear in the novel of “Lovely Princess” she almost dehumanizes them, reducing them to ‘characters’ who have to play a ‘role’.
This can be seen how despite the amount of times she’s identified signs of Ijekiel’s feelings for her or Jennette’s depression, she brushes them off until it’s too late and Ijekiel is openly expressing his jealousy and Jennette has attempted suicide. It’s easily seen as well when you compare her treatment of Hari to her treatment of Cabel—Hari, who never appears in “Lovely Princess”, she easily forms a bond with and thinks about and mentions quite often fondly like a friend. But when Cabel appears in story, she often calls him ‘puppy-like’ (as direct call backs from her reader standpoint towards the novel) and almost always mention his status as the second male lead, constantly bringing up his role in “Lovely Princess” and acknowledging his presence as if he were still that exact character from a book. Like when she interacts with Ijekiel, she doesn’t seem to acknowledge him as a fellow peer or even the brother of a friend—but rather the ‘second male lead’ in a ‘novel’. The dehumanization is blatant, along with her romanticization of the novel itself and projecting those thoughts onto the real people she’s become acquainted with.
This becomes clear when she deals with Jennette and Ijekiel. Almost every encounter with them, or rather whenever they are together, she seems to view them with rose tinted glasses of that of a reader living through a ‘romantic moment’ between the leads of novel—rather than as a fellow human being. Just as she mentions how it took her so long to see even Claude as a human, to the very end she allows her perception of “the female lead Jennette” and “the male lead Ijekiel” to dictate how she treats the two of them. With Ijekiel, she dismisses his blatant advances because to her, the idea of “perfect male lead Ijekiel” taking a fancy to someone other than “the lovely female lead Jennette” is impossible. It’s to the point that she acknowledges that she had to snuff her own developing feelings for him out because of that perception—that a such a young love would never bloom because Ijekiel is “the male lead”.
This projection of her perception of Ijekiel leads to her inability to acknowledge Ijekiel himself, which worsens the more she interacts with Jennette. Jennette—the lovely female lead of the novel—whom Athy had grown close to as best friends (Lee Jihye’s own quote herself!), but strings along halfheartedly. Her rose tinted perception of Jennette has led to the girls own downfall, acknowledging at the end herself that she had seen the signs of Jennette’s struggling but intentionally kept turning away from it. Simply, it was because she deemed Jennette as the “female lead” of a novel. “If Jennette is in trouble, Jennette can deal with it herself”—because that’s what happens when you’re the female lead. If Jennette is getting picked on by background characters, it’s something the female lead has to deal with on her own—even if Lee Jihye, as Jennette’s best friend, had all the power to intervene. Her fairytale-like perception of Ijekiel and Jennette has led to her physically unable to see Jennette and Ijekiel having complex feelings, be it as humans, or to eachother.
This is why I think the ending for Ijekiel and Jennette in the novel is just so tragic—Lee Jihye encourages Ijekiel to go with Jennette in her exile because she still sees Ijekiel and Jennette’s relationship with rose-tinted novel-reader glasses—that it is Ijekiel’s duty to ‘protect’ Jennette, despite the fact that Jennette’s own state was a result of Ijekiel’s cruel rejection of pent up negative emotions in the first place. She fails to even consider there actually being bad blood between them, or that this perception of hers is in actuality hurting both Jennette and Ijekiel—Jennette, who to us readers has revealed how Ijekiel’s falsity hurts her more than his cruel honesty—and Ijekiel, who never had never honestly spoken to Jennette nor gotten to know her. The sidestories even reveal a bit of this future—that despite the time passed, Ijekiel and Jennette hardly look at each other. Yet, Lee Jihye insists on their repaired relationship because she herself still fully hasn’t comprehended the two of them as flawed humans who had a genuine fall out—she sees it just as it was at the end of the middle school grade novel by the name of Lovely Princess. That to Lee Jihye, despite the turmoil and grief “female lead Jennette” faced, within the arms of “her beloved male lead Ijekiel”, she was comforted and healed. Except this isn’t a novel, and Lee Jihye spoke of a relationship between two people she knew nothing about—the ‘lovely female lead Jennette’ who had been falling apart for years to depression and the lack of genuine affection, and the ‘perfect male lead Ijekiel’ who had fallen almost obsessively in love with her to the point he’d reject his ‘female lead’ in a way he knew would torture his ‘female lead’ best all while silently jealous of everyone Athy loved.
To the end, the female lead by the name of “Athanasia” or “Lee Jihye” hadn’t grown or learned anything more than she had from the start of the novel. I couldn’t in confidence tell you what her goals or intentions were by the end of the story. Rather than Who Made Me A Princess being about her, or having her as the story’s female lead, I don’t think I know any of her desires or what governed her actions in the latter half of the story. I feel as if I could tell you about young Athy/Jihye’s desire and passions, but I have no idea what pubescent Athy/Jihye’s were. She had tea parties. She attended events. She handled flowers, and was wow’d over magic, but she never genuinely took an interest in them, and their presence in a story that’s supposed to be about her is minimal. The story concludes by telling us she continued her studies in preparation as future empress, that she enjoyed certain subjects, but you never feel it nor do they show it enough to make an impact. Who Made Me A Princess’ novel is predominately written through very simple and quirky narration, character interaction and dialogue. Because it’s predominately written in Lee Jihye’s perspective of every paragraph requiring some sort of quip, the novel comes off as almost amateurish and underdeveloped, leaving a bittersweet taste in your mouth. Reading upon each sentence, I can’t help but feel grief over what was clearly an idea and concept, but poorly reflected in the writing quality. Every chapter was draining, and I often found myself asking—“where exactly is this going?”. Reflecting upon it, side by side with my own cliche fifth grade writing, I can’t help but notice the similarities in quality and tone. The novel has much potential, but comes off as a slice-of-life sort of story without a direct goal, instead focusing on aimlessness of the characters dialogue and lighthearted daily life. Perhaps that was the intent, but ultimately, the balance of story elements and the poor quality of writing ruin the story for me, ending the note of Who Made Me A Princess’ novel failing my very raised expectations. A story that had been hyped so much by the fandom, I couldn’t help but see as lackluster in almost every aspect.

i was tending to some plants when it suddenly hit me: From where does manwha Lucas get his egocentric, lazy and irresponsible traits??
From the novel version of him, I know from where he gets them, but the manwha never makes it clear with him, while with other characters(Athanasia, Ijekiel, Jennette and Claude) we know at least the main thing that makes them act the way they are:
Athanasia: She acts sure of herself, is energetic and materialistic(although responsible and studious) because of her living in poverty in korea. Having so much money makes her energetic and carefree, which adds to her materialistic trait. her want to study comes from that lack of resources, and her responsibility too.
Ijekiel: He's what Roger wanted him to be, he likes what Roger approved he could like, and acts the way it's expected(and also Roger expected) for him to act. It's made clear when he himself says "He finally had something to call his" referring to his first meeting with Athanasia. Ijekiel was a puppet, he was destined to be Rogers poppet, and although this was broken by this unconventional meeting, he still acted the way Roger said to him he should.
Jennette: Basically the same as Ijekiel, just that Roger decided to go on a different route with her. While his son was supposed to be the most capable and notable person on the empire because of his achievements, Jennette was to be "The Kind-Hearted long lost daughter of Emperor Claude". She was supposed to be kind, gullible(because how else was he going to make her his second poppet), social and lovely. She was never supposed to be remarkable like Ijekiel, as we know Roger started pressuring her in her studies when he met Athanasia and learned she was nearly as intelligent as his son.
Claude: We all know his backstory. The abuse he suffered in his childhood and teenage years just made him an ice cube. Then Diana came along, he fell inlove and was happy, then she died and he was even more traumatized :D
But Lucas... In the manwha he's like, jesus christ or something, he just poofed into existence(according to him and what his master/teacher told him... wtf), so, does that mean that The World Tree(TWT) made him? If that's true, why did TWT *let* him develop such a personality trait?
We could say that the previous magician of the black tower may have done something for him to develop such a trait, but in the only scene we see of them together, Lucas is completely unable to understand nor feel empathy for the grief his previous master/teacher is suffering, and that's pretty contradictory if it's true the theory that TWT made Lucas.
If Lucas was supposed to be Jesus Christ of wmmap world, why let Lucas, not only completely ignore the messages the Tree sends him without receiving any type of punishment, but also being able to do harm to the Tree itself(Also without receiving any type of punishment)? Doesn't really make sense to me.
I mean, Lucas could be his first(?) successful attempt at making a human doll to make whatever-something happen, but that would be so incredibly grim if you think about it. Because that would mean that TWT NEEDED:
Lucas to, somehow, make Aethernitas(ESPECIFICALLY HIM) so mad at him to stay petty for 200 years.
From that pettiness, make Aethernitas dabble into dark magic.
Have Aethernitas target Anastacius(for what? Who the fuck knows) to then control/brainwash(?) Anastacius into being a piece of shit to Claude(and also dabbling in black magic).
This prompting him sleeping with Penelope and colluding with her to get rid of Claude(AKA making Jennette)
This making Claude despise him so much as to make a rebellion and basically wanting to kill him
Thus making Claude emperor and him meeting Diana, which makes Athanasia happen
WHICH THEN PROMPTS
Athanasia dying three fucking times, being abused in different ways in her first and second lives and dying not only hated by everyone and charged of a crime she didn't commit(WITHOUT A TRIAL BEING MADE) but also in such a forgettable(bc the news aren't going to cover that story, she's just a number in the total of people who ended up "dying from from the cold" that night) ways in both of those lives. AND LETS NOT FORGET how TWT only blessed Athanasia IN HER THIRD LIFE. Like, YOU LET HER DIE 2 TIMES TO BLESS HER AND SAVE HER FROM HER SUFFERINGS?!?!?!?!
And all for what?
Nothing.
Because it also doesn't make sense with the way TWT acts/thinks. Spoon herself showed us that he's always sending Lucas requests to go save some country from epidemics, floods, famine. That means the Tree cares for humans.
That's why I think it doesn't make any sense the way Lucas is so egocentric and so incredibly full of himself :D
Note: Can we just talk about how Lucas is so sure of his feeling towards Athanasia when he comes back from TWT? Is like he got his software updated and learned what "being in love" is lmao
#wmmap#wmmap lucas#wmmap ramblings#who made me a princess#athanasia coulve been blessed by the tree from the very beginning and she wouldnt have died#like how incompetent you have to be while being a god?#you cant even blame lucas for that#hes another proof of the incompetency of the tree#imagine making a human and not installing in his brain the way you want him to act#or at least have a good influence for him

in a way, Jennette reminds me of the of the phrase "a moth drawn to a flame" with how desperately she clings onto the idea of the Obelias as her 'family'. while i never got to reading the LP side-stories, the way other people describe how she mainly despised Claude because he was the one who killed her 'father' (since in the novel she was not at all related to the Obelian line) and therefore deprived her of her true family really enforces this idea.
the phrase is also interesting in the fact that obviously, the moth will die if it gets closer to the flame. i wonder if her black magic blowups are symbolic of this; Jennette's emotions over her desire of a true family gets to her head and it causes harm to others (particularly Athy and Ijekiel) and herself. she becomes selfish and feels entitled to her feelings, feeling shame for hating her loved ones but still not feel guilt at the same time. i think the departure from her novel counterpart made the circumstances of her original ending different for manhwa!Jennette, she isn't really the same Jennette and having the same exact ending play out when Spoon already made so much changes to her characterization made it not mesh well i guess...
#rosie's txt#unpopular opinion but i love her novel counterpart so much?? obviously LP!Jetty is an asshole and my least favorite Jetty#but there's just something about N!J that i wish got translated into the manhwa#honestly as hatable as she could be she's also quite pitiful in the end. her whole existence is a lie and she has to deal with it#maybe that's why i'm drawn to her more than manhwa!Jen. it's because of the intrinsic tragedy tied to her#and that there's also more complexity that i appreciate#N!Jennette my favorite loser i hate her so much (affectionate)#LP!Jetty i will never forgive you for how your hatred for Claude by extention made you disregard Athy (derogatory)#who made me a princess#wmmap#wmmap novel#analysis#(?)#jennette margarita#wmmap jennette
