was listening to wonderful nothing (glass animals song about toxic relationships) and I think what always gets me about the way you describe devin and nova is like. they ARE soulmates. it’s part of why their relationship is so fucked up and awful - they do, in fact, have a sort of innate chemistry and connection, and they use it to be uniquely and personally awful to each other. you’ve got me so fucked up about guys I’ve never even met LMAO

yes!!!! yes yes yes!!!! they are soulmates!! and i have such overall disdain for the concept of soulmates as An Always Positive Thing that the response to that is just. "uh oh"

they're like.... i think one of the best ways to conceptualize their early dynamic and how things Went So Fucking Wrong is if i say they're a lot like princess AU luz and hunter, in a lot of ways. nova as this eternally-innocent beacon of light inheriting a world built on atrocities, devin as the exhausted and ill partner who's eternally subservient, but whose pain is nonetheless eased by nova's presence...

nova makes devin laugh when devin is a person who doesn't laugh easily. devin brings nova comfort and surety when she's lost in a world made of lies. there's a warm history and a familiarity and an ease to their relationship.

but. devin wants to tear down every single construct that's hurt her and, more relevantly, allowed nova to have power over her.

nova..... doesn't want to give that up.

the thing about knowing someone inside and out is that you have everything you need to hurt them. most people don't do that, bc knowing someone inside and out comes from loving them. but if your spouse keeps standing in the way of everything you are and everything you want and everything you've done.... well!

Nova Scotia Emergency Health Services expects the first graduates of an emergency response training program will be on the road this summer.  Nova Scotia will join several other provinces in licensing and employing emergency medical responders, according to an announcement on Friday.  Jeff Fraser, executive director of Emergency Health Services with the Department of Health and Wellness, said the new health-care professionals will assist paramedics.  Emergency medical responders will receive 12 weeks of training in Nova Scotia by Medavie HealthEd. The province is looking to train up to 200 people for the positions over two years.

kaiser não era um sujeito burro. sério mesmo! se fosse, definitivamente não tinha muitas chances que sua benção houvesse vindo justo da deusa da sabedoria. mas detalhes à parte, kai ainda tinha o tal 50% de humano em si. e se tinha algo que humanos faziam muito era serem burros. ok, talvez os deuses também fossem burros, mas não diga a eles! em resumo, toda a confusão não começou por burrice. na verdade, o plano até que fazia sentido. estava testando em si pequenas doses de venenos diversos para tentar se tornar um pouco mais resistente a eles (prática que já fazia há alguns anos). e a outra razão era porque, bem, seguia um curandeiro e seguia tendo o poder de pragas, dores e doenças. sempre parecia útil aprender mais. preparou tudo como sempre fazia, ficando próximo à cachoeira mágica para curá-lo caso precisasse. o que não havia contado era a onda de sonolência que viera de efeito colateral, acabando com ele boiando seminu pela cachoeira até que fosse acordado quando a correnteza o levou até a cascata. o turbilhão de água o fez quase que saltar de susto, nadando apressado até a borda para procurar as calças e camisa... que não estavam mais lá. tudo que restara foi seu cinto e bolsa, que pegou com rapidez para caçar um relógio. "maldição!" grunhiu, piscando os olhos e tentando focar a atenção. "já é essa hora? puta que p..." tossiu um punhado de água, olhando em volta prestes a xingar quem quer que havia roubado suas roupas. foi alvo de pegadinha numa hora daquelas? que droga, hein!

OPÇÃO 2 . uma dor dos infernos e alguém estranho nas sombras

quando: noite

nenhuma resposta. nenhum sinal. nada. todos lentamente deixavam o afiteatro após a cerimônia na fogueira. mais uma onde não tinham qualquer compreensão de tudo que estava acontecendo ou do silêncio vindo dos deuses. não que semideuses não fossem lá muito acostumados com o silêncio parental, mas eram em momentos assim que antigas feridas se abriam de novo. caso se concentrasse, kai conseguia sentir. corações apreensivos, quebrados, preocupados, raivosos e cheios de dor e mágoa. na verdade, o verdadeiro exercício de concentração era que seus poderes não fluíssem normalmente e não acabasse se conectando com alguma lembrança traumática de outro semideus com o próprio pai ou mãe olimpiano. céus, havia sido uma ideia péssima participar da cerimônia naquele dia. a cabeça latejava e vozes invadiam seus pensamentos. não as vozes do exterior, mas das mentes tormentosas dos acampantes. usando seu talento que não viera por qualquer relação divina, kai abriu um sorriso e acenou para os que passassem perto de si. esperou e esperou até que todos saíssem. até que não tivesse mais ninguém perto o bastante e pudesse afundar o rosto nas mãos. a cabeça latejava e pesava feito chumbo. sentia os ossos tremendo e o corpo formigando. não soube quantos minutos ficou parado ali até que enfim a dor passasse. mas... não por inteiro. só sobrou uma voz. um pensamento. baixinho e distante. ele enfim ergueu a cabeça para o ambiente agora mau iluminado já que a fogueira aos poucos se apagava. a primeira vista, não viu mais ninguém. contudo, ao começar a contornar o teatro, avistou uma silhueta nas arquibancadas. aproximou-se devagar até que estivesse perto o bastante para ser ouvido. "ei... você está bem? precisa de ajuda?"

re last post: sol is afraid of being seen as vulnerable or easy to manipulate. ruby is afraid of being seen as selfish or frightening. nova is afraid of being seen as mean or cruel or wrong. devin cares the least about perception of all of them but fears being seen as crazy or non-autonomous for extremely reasonable avoiding-being-institutionalized purposes.

i'm sure all four of them deal with these fears in really healthy well-adjusted therapy-first ways. if there's one thing i'm really good at writing, it's guys who go to therapy and process their emotions in a healthy manner,

hii! you asked this when it was morning but i didn't see it until now but good morning spooky!! :D How are you doing? I'm doing well cause I have a bunch of free time so i've been doing some drawings (and also baking but i ate all of the cookies I made very fast), uhh heres a thing i drew!

ok so i get being frustrated by changes in lingo especially when they happen to overlap woth preexisting things. however tone indicators (the aforementioned partial phrases or acronyms preceded by a forward slash ex. /pos /neg /hj) are super helpful for a lot of people when it comes to text based communication!

theres probably some i dont know but in my personal circles we use them a lot to make sure its clear how we mean something we've said to make sure its not misinterpreted (as conveyed by the key & peele text message confusion video). in fact, tone indicators prevent just such instances! ill give some examples:

/pos - to be interpreted positively "i feel like my bones are made of cheese /pos"

/neg - to be interpreted negatively "this song reminds me of water /neg"

/gen - to be interpreted genuinely at face value "im really happy for you /gen"

/j - "joking", to be interpreted as a joke wothout true merit to it "im actually a regional dr pepper drinking champion /j"

/hj - stands for "half-joking" as in, mostly unserious but with a grain of truth "i want to burn down my desk /hj"

/lh - stands for "lighthearted" and commonly used for banter or teasing "youre actually ridiculous /lh"

/s - stands for "sarcastic" as in "im so looking forward to my 6am double shift /s"

/srs - to be interpreted seriously, and similar to /gen "i really want to talk more about this later /srs"

there are more than just these but their existence and use is often a matter of accessibility for those who struggle interpreting the nuance and subtext of messaged without tone and body language to base it on. its especially helpful for neurodivergent individuals but anyone can (and imo should) use them as clarifiers when possible. theyre not meant to be used on every sentence, but rather to clear up things which could be misconstrued.
