Chapter 6:

27.09.19 - London (part 1/3)

It was almost on a whim and determined to discover England that we booked a trip to London.

We arrived in the early afternoon, not far from Camden Town, so we decided to go there. Camden is a well-known part of London, especially for Camden Market but also Camden Lock which is located in the old stables of the city, forming huge vaults under which craftsmen of all kinds have settled. You can find food from dozens of different origins (Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Japanese,...) as well as clothes, jewellery. It is a very lively district especially at weekends with the influx of tourists. The main street is the most impressive both by the crowds that circulate there and by the fronts adorned with gigantic ornaments ( gigantic shoes for example).

We had booked beds in a youth hostel in the middle of Holland Park, which was obviously not easy during the stay!

In the evening we decided to go out to the Notting Hill Arts Club. With a rather dark atmosphere but highlighted by colourful projections on the walls (see pictures 6 and 7), this nightclub is great if you want to spend a good time listening to small groups perform.

Chapitre 6:

27.09.19 - Londres (partie 1/3)

C'est presque sur un coup de tête et décidées à découvrir l'Angleterre que nous avons réservé un voyage vers Londres.

Nous sommes arrivées en début d'après-midi, pas très loin de Camden Town et avons donc décidé de nous y rendre. Camden est un quartier très connu de Londres, notamment pour Camden Market mais surtout Camden Lock qui est situé dans les anciennes écuries de la ville, formant d'immenses voutes sous lesquelles des artisans de toutes sortes se sont installés. On peut y trouver aussi bien de la nourriture de dizaines d'origine différentes (mexicain, italiens, chinois, japonais?...) que de vêtements, de bijoux. C'est un quartier très animé surtout le weekend avec l'afflux de touristes. La rue principale est la plus impressionnante tant par le monde qui y circule que par les devantures parées de gigantesques ornements (des chaussures par exemple).

Nous avions réservé des lits dans une auberge de jeunesse en plein Holland Park ce qui n'a évidement pas été de tout repos pendant le séjour !

Le soir nous avons décidé de sortir au club Notting Hill Arts Club. Avec une ambiance assez sombre mais mise en valeur par des projections colorées sur les murs (cf. photo 6 et 7), cette boîte est géniale si l'on cherche à passer un bon moment à écouter se produire des petits groupes.
