Help power the project (and get BEHIND THE SCENES access and COOL STUFF) by joining #ClubLPP 👉 patreon.com/clublpp • Here's an EARLY #LePetitPrince photo from February 2012, just a few weeks into the project - nearly 8 years ago. • With this shot, I wanted to pay homage to, as well as employ, the newspaper headline motif used for the Controversy album artwork to reference the #LPP project, but for this re-sharing, I digitally replaced one headline here to address a recurring notion: Not a Doll: LPP is ART • From Allen Beaulieu's 'Prince: Before the Rain': The concept that Prince wanted for Controversy's cover was a tough one for Beaulieu. "I was really having a hard time with it. Prince called me up and said, 'Al, what I want you to do is shoot me on a newspaper.' All I could think of was newspaper at the bottom of a parakeet cage or something - I couldn't get a visual in my head. It was my brother (Rick) who said, 'You should come up with a newspaper, The Controversy Daily.' That's all I needed, some imagery to go with. I don’t want to be loved in parts. Don’t love specific versions of me. Love the whole of me. I make angry faces and I ask a lot of questions.
