I haven't seen anyone say this and I don't know if I am the first to say this, but I feel like the great war is actually about the heartbreaks and difficulties Tay and KK had to go through within the 4 years presidential term of Trump, and its written in chronological order. Also the most important part of this song is Kaylor survived the great war, they are still together after these 4 years.

First of all, the length of the great war aka ww1 is 4 years, which matched with the length of time when Trump is the president. And also it would not be the first time Tay wrote about 2016 election. In Call it what you want, we got All the jokers dressin' up as kings, which could been seen as a dig towards Trump. InMiss Americana and Heartbreak Prince, we got Running through rose thorns, I saw the scoreboard And ran for my life / My team is losing, battered and bruising I see the high fives between the bad guys. Scoreboard could been seen as the result of election, and bad guys definitely including Trump.

Then there are some lyrics matched perfectly with some events in those 4 years.

here is Taylor cursing as Trump won the election

Spineless in my tomb of silence

Tore your banners down, took the battle underground

but she couldn't speak up about politics back then, which according to Miss Americana this totally made her sad. And she had to took the relationship with KK underground(love black out theory), because KK is linked with the Kushner which is linked with Trump. If their relationship got found out by general public, there would be some huge impact on the Kushner and the American politics.

the 2014-2016 very high profile and sweet kaylor bff era was over, they had to go through the war

KK made a deal with joshua and had a lavender marriage, while Tay could only use Joe as a beard & disguise and suffered from the pain of watching the one you love married to another person (cue cruel summer)

And maybe it's the past that's talkin'

So I justified it

this is so similar to the situation described in afterglow that they could be talking about the same thing:

i put you in jail for something you didn't do

and I know you have a very interesting theory that afterglow could be about Tay apologize to Karlie for her reaction to the suprise october wedding stunt in new york, which just fit in the timeline here perfectly.

It turned into something bigger

this part is about master heist and the rumor that KK was feeding Scooter with Tay's secrects

Tay almost came out in the Lover era and KK was kinda a part of it, also after master heist KK still fought for Tay

Tay realized that KK never actually betrayed her and was hurt by her accusation, so she stopped asking her friend to like posts about KK's alleged betrayal

That was the night I nearly lost you

I really thought I lost you

Kaylor probablly broke up because of these things, but NEARLY and THOUGHT indicates that they got back together

And we will never go back

As Trump ended his presidency term at 2021.1.20, the Kaylor great war officially ended, and they have passed their worst time, they survived.

Also the other filler lyrics just totally matched with the theme, and now I think it is yet another evidence that Kaylor are still together to this day.

two quick sidenotes to clarify my perspective: i don’t think taylor ever really lost karlie (hence the words “nearly” and “thought” i lost you), and about my old afterglow post, i could have worded it better because often people have read it and don’t understand that i firmly believe that taylor and karlie both agreed to the wedding thing and knew about it in advance. i just saw it as a moment where the haze might have been thicker than usual.

okay so with that, i wanted to say that i very much agree with what you are laying out here! this is close to how i see things. i wanted to add links to some stuff i’ve written that i feel is related… here’s a post where i tried to bring together a bunch of similar lyrics that includes the effects of the 2016 election and here is a more lighthearted post i made in regards to me thinking maroon is about election night with a fun little ylm tie in at the end

i also think it’s worth pointing out that evermore (the song) was described by taylor herself as being written around her feelings regarding the election. i know that many see it as being about the failed lover era coming out and i totally get that and that was my first impression as well, but i do think it’s interesting that in the context of kaylor, the election interpretation as backed by taylor makes a ton of sense. also when you think about when evermore was written and released, right as / right around the time that biden won the 2020 election in november, we can see the “feeling so peculiar that this pain wouldn’t be for evermore” as reflective of them worrying that perhaps they might be in for 4 more years of trump, and the relief that came with the election result. **which is so specifically important to their story** and evermore will never not make me cry. i get so emotional 😭

anyway in conclusion, the great war is definitely, for me and for you, covering the trump administration years. i also think it’s worth pointing out what we have seen since. they may have still kept to themselves since biden took office but, might we all agree there has been a form of happiness, when you think about the ways their relationship has grown since? this is how i see things.

Why Perfect is totally about Taylor Swift

Yea I know Louis wrote the song with Harry and that’s exactly why I’m even MORE convinced that it’s about her.

Long story short, the description of Taylor’s physical characteristics minus her gender and how tall she is could practically fit Louis to the T. She is the PERFECT stand-in for a het narrative if Harry ever wants to write about Louis’s eyes, which is always, but I digress.

Meanwhile, Harry has green eyes and tattoos. Liz Huett has green eyes and Dianna Agron has tattoos. Harry is the PERFECT stand-in for a het narrative if Taylor ever wants to write about her ex-girlfriends, which should probably be never, but she couldn’t help herself. What should be over burrowed under my skin in heart-stopping waves of hurt and all that.

Good thing H is also tall. So when Tay wrote Karlie into Wildest Dream, Harry Styles™️ can take all the credits for HIM (which was totally written from Dianna’s POV but that’s another story for another time, just like how Out Of The Wood was totally written from Louis’s POV but again I digress.)

My 2 cents on Taylor’s love life speculation:

She loves music and reads a lot. With how much time she always spend practicing and developing the skills of her crafts, she didn’t have that many friends growing up. Like creative kids everywhere, she started making arts through others’ lens. Her life experience as a child is not as dramatic and interesting to write about as a fix-it fic for Romeo and Juliet. Oh yeah, she started writing fan fic in a song.

She knew all she’s ever wanted was to make good music for a living. But that wasn’t a stable career’s path in the eyes of any sensible adults. So of course, her parents supported her but also encouraged her to have a plan B. Thus, the path to future @swiftonsecurity began. Because tinkering on the computer also allowed her to explore more sides of music, two birds in one stone, see?

Taylor was a smart kiddo. She didn’t need to actually go through a breakup to know how much it hurt. Hell, she saw her best friend went through heartbreak cuz somebody else changed their minds and the marriage of her own parents fell apart.

So when it came to choosing between a chance at love and a music career, it wasn’t even a choice for her fourteen-year-old self. It’s MUSIC. Of course, it’s music. A boyfriend, no matter how good they seemed at the start, will eventually break your heart. Stephen and Drew could get a fast track for that in her song. There.

So she jumped into the music industry headfirst, diving right in to the gigs and performing everywhere she got a chance. Basically hustle and put it the work. After signing with label, she quickly learned that “relationship” was part of the job and would help her realize her music career. Ok, cool. It’s not like she was slamming on her guitar to look for true love anyway. If saying she was dating someone when she wrote the song meant more album sales, then tell the story she would.

Then, her debut albums sold. Like they really did. Now, she had a band. For real, her very own The Agency. So cool. Opening the stage for her favorite artists. Best year of her life. And she might have a crush on the fiddle player. Emily. Who’s so cool she’s quitting the band after a year to go study in law school. Taylor would miss her a lot. Like a lot. Cuz this was the first time Taylor was kinda falling in love and it felt safe. almost FEARLESS. But no, actually. She found out that Emily didn’t necessarily want to quit the band. But apparently Taylor had been too obvious about being into Emily that the higher ups in the label suspected that she might be gay. And so they got rid of Emily, so to speak, to keep things from getting out of hands.

Oh wow, that sucks. Taylor was getting the taste of how manipulative the Music Industry Behemoth could potentially be. She turned to music for solace, as always. By herself too, cuz she didn’t know who else she could trust to SPEAK NOW. She made a villainous character out of the shadowy figure controlling things in the background. So it’s not all rainbow and butterflies anymore. But hey! It’s okay. She still have her fans, her friends, and Liz. Gosh. Liz was the awesomest. She could make anything fun, even in the sometime terrible circumstances. Liz made bad days more bearable. It didn’t matter if Taylor had to talk about Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, or a thousand other boys to sell the albums. Liz understood what it’s like to WANT TO MAKE IT in the music industry. Liz wanted to make it too. Liz was there make things okay at the end of the day. Liz was also shoved so far into the closet to keep her career by Taylor’s side. Liz got her own PR boyfriend to parade around. Fuck.

Suddenly, this wasn’t so cool anymore. They started fighting all the time. Ugly jealousy reared it’s head in the cruelest way. Taylor didn’t know how to deal with seeing Liz with someone else. Liz threw it all back in her face cuz guess who had had to deal with their significant other’s MULTIPLE PR boytoys. Suddenly, Taylor realized THIS this was what & why Emily NOPED out of there at the first sign of trouble. Music industry is very good at breaking down people and their relationships. Taylor and Liz broke up and oh LIZ HELD GRUDGES LIKE NO OTHERS. Because in her POV? She willingly walked into the closet for Taylor and got dumped for it wtf?? Meanwhile Taylor was just choosing between a) stay with Liz so she could be deliriously happy in-between bouts of absolute misery, b) breakup with Liz so she could start picking the pieces of herself that the music industry had broken her into.

Then Taylor got the news that Emily was getting married. And it hit her like a ton of brick that she could’ve had that with Liz if they could just talk it out and not let the resentment cloud their judgement. But no, there was no way that could’ve happened with Liz due to both of their personalities clashing like fire. It was opposite attracted, passion turned to ashes—burning red.

So Taylor threw herself into making RED. She met Dianna, and sorta maybe moving on from Liz. She wanted to take it slow and made sure that this wasn’t just a rebound. But Liz wasn’t ready to let go. She saw Swiftgron taking off and wouldn’t you know it. Liz, too, saw RED.

And, oh it burned when Taylor saw what PR relationship with her was doing to Harry. And Louis. It was like looking into the mirror and recognizing the SAME HURT. In a blink of an eye, Taylor knew THIS COULD NOT GO ON. This had to end. This MUST END. With her. With Harry. For whoever comes next. Because Liz was on warpath, tearing up Taylor’s heart and screwing up Dianna’s trust. All because Liz was SO FUCKING HURT by the SAME GODDAMN THING.

Harry and Louis had a good thing going so nothing was gonna changed that. Not on Taylor’s watch. Not on Ed fookin Sheeran’s watch. Suddenly, Taylor met this enigma of a British man. So blasé with public perception of him and trust his own music enough to look at label and say “you need me, I don’t need you.” SUDDENLY. SUDDEN-FUCKING-LY. It made sense. No artist = no music = no money for label. The fans are fans of her MUSIC not her label. Suddenly, EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.

And Taylor was, all at once, at her most powerful and vulnerable. Everything else but her career was falling apart. Dianna proposed, Taylor wasn’t ready. Liz showing up in their life again meant Dianna thought there was another reason Taylor said no to her proposal. Who was Liz to dissuade her otherwise. Taylor broke her heart and now someone else broke Taylor��s. All’s fair in love and war, isn’t it? But my goodness, Liz was not a monster. It’s just that. Hurt people hurts people. Taylor knew that and understood that. CUE Louis just being like NO. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. “You said so yourself—we are never ever ever getting back together. Like ever. NO.” And proceeded to write DIANA. Because Taylor is not the only protective one in this chosen family goddamnit. So Taylor sent back STYLE to basically explain that if it was HARRY LOUIS wouldn’t say the same. And Harry was like HOLD UP, you cheated on Dianna with Liz? Wtf? I though Dianna was mad at me? And Taylor was like. NO! WTF is wrong with you. Me & Di already broke up and it’s frankly none of your business whether me and Liz get back together or not. (She wasn’t getting back together with Liz but these boys were pissing her off so Taylor felt zero ounce of guilt as she dragged Harry’s and his accented drawl on stage at the AMA)

Cue Ed’s Photogragh cuz the siblings are bickering like smol children for the world to see. And they all actually talked it out like adults for once. Taylor was healing emotionally while she making 1989 and hanging out with Karlie who showed up right when everything was quite fine and dandy on the outside and absolute dumpster fire on the inside.

Because other than dealing with Liz-Dianna nonexistent love triangle drama, Taylor was bestowed another heartbreak as she learned more and more about the horrific nature of her contracts. And not just her own, every other artists’s too. So it’s taking a lot of plotting and planning for her to figure out how to escape Big Machine and by extension Scooter. Karlie knew she was threading on thin water, walking a fine line, balancing on a tightrope when her girlfriend and boss would soon be going toe-to-toe. And Taylor was terrified of if Karlie decided that the closeting was too much. Also, the exes gossip? Not only were the hetero ones still on paper, the Liz & Dianna one was still fanning the flame. Like if Louis & Harry of all people thought that of her, then who else wouldn’t?

Well, Louis and Harry = stubborn little shits but they weren’t actual dickheads. So they wrote a song to convince her that YES TRYING WITH KARLIE IS A GOOD IDEA. PERFECT.

Because Karlie Kloss knew what she was getting herself into right from the get-go. There wasn’t gonna be a surprise intervention, closeting, exes who could show up and screw up everything. HONESTY IS THE KEY.

And so it went. Taylor and Karlie against the world. “I tried to pick my battle til the battle picked me.” After 1989, it was the end of the line for Taylor and Big Machine. The old contract was set to expired soon and Taylor needed to choose her next career move.

And while negotiations could’ve been where she was headed, what happened to Louis and Harry absolutely changed her mind. Louis signed another contract with Syco and it dragged Louis’s reputation through mud with babygate. So Taylor knew then, beyond the shadow of the doubt, that no label was truly on the artist’s side. At the end of the day, she was on her own.

But not really, she had her Swifties. When she began her reputation era, Taylor finally realized that she COULD be anywhere/do anything regardless of label and pubic perception of her. In fact, any label would be lucky to have her. Just like Ed said before, “You need me, I don’t need you.”

So, now Taylor knows what the labels have on artists are built on a house of cards. And it’s ALL LIES.

While she can’t directly call out or contradict the liars on her own behalf, she can and do call out the blatant abuse on others—starting with her prologue letter for reputation “as if inspiration for music is as simple and basic as a paternity test.”

Despite the pain they inflicted on each other, Liz taught Taylor how to go on a warpath. Dianna taught her how to be brave even when it hurt like hell. Emily taught her when to run.

Karlie runs with her. If other girls, like Lily and co, join their marathon every once in a while, well it’s the choice they made together and frankly? Good for them, sharing the love and all.

And oh, I forgot to mention practically all the boys she “dated” after Harry, because at that point “dating Taylor Swift” had become synonymous with “coming out as gay in a subtle way” in my mind, so.

My #1 post of 2022

After hearing ‘Nothing New’, I’m more convinced that ever that Taylor wrote Wonderland in 1989 about her own relationship in comparison to that of Harry Styles and how the music industry kinda broke them both.

Cuz “I felt your arms twisted around me” is nothing short of forced and painful.

When 1D exploded to stardom, Harry Styles WAS “the kind of radiance you only have at seventeen” and Taylor Swift had been in the business for half a decade at that point. “How did I go from growing up to breaking down?”

Then: “How can a person knows everything at 18 but nothing at 22?”

For Harry, Louis made damn sure he knew “I have loved you since we were 18.”

Meanwhile, Taylor had been dealing with one heartbreak after another like Emily Poe getting married “so casually cruel in the name of being honest”, Liz Huett leaving “fuck-the-patriarchy keychain on the ground”, Emma Stone “some actress asking me what happened” before she met Dianna Agron, at which point her insecurities had reached the point of “would you still want me when I’m nothing new?”

Then: “I knew I had to go back home.”

This is what hurt the most, I think. Because HOME for Harry has always been LOUIS “When you’re lost, I’ll find the way I’ll be your light.” But Taylor didn’t have that and Dianna literally had the inspiration for WONDERLAND tattooed on her waist, as if to say “it’s me, for you. I could stay.” But well, that tattoo didn’t stay either.

Though this Swift bird tattoo stays and fookin reminded her of Fearless:

“Tell me do you still remember feeling young, strong enough to get it wrong in front of all these people.”

To which Taylor responded: “sometimes giving up is the strong thing. Sometimes to run is the brave thing.”

Which led me straight gay to Kaylor’s Big Sur “you don’t have to save me but would you run away with me? YES”

Oh dear lord this is a hard one.

Im terrible picking favorites in general, BUT IM A DISASTER WHEN IT COMES TO MISS T SWIZZLE. I dont even have a top three albums. I just go with the ones im vibing more at the moment.

I think that my favorite song from the album is Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince. I have shivers everytime I heard the GO FIGHT WIN part.

Aaaaaand from there im lost. My top five changes everytime i think too much about it. Like, you have no idea the crisis my brain is having rn. I think that Cruel Summer does stay there most of the times.

And. Yes. You are absolutely right. Afterglow is undescriptable. The way Tay talks about fighting with the ppl you love, and the guilt that comes with it. And the pain that is knowing you hurt them when they didnt deserved it. Aaaaaaand im on crisis again.

THE POINT IS im the worst at chosing favorites. This is gonna sound like a stupid excusse, but im a virgo and INFP. I try to see things since a logic point so i can make justice with my choices. But this is art, this doesnt have any logic, only feelings and passions and brillian executions. And Taylor is the best at doing that, and Lover is the perfect example at that.

Hello Darling! Kinnporsche anon here 💜 have a good week!!

I just finished episode 11,omg it was so good 😭!! Like how can surpass themselves each times??

First, I'm going to start with the most painful one. KimChay. WHY KIM!! like I don't understand?? 😭 Why did he do that?? Making Chay cried, nope sorry Kim but I kinda want to hit you. Like how could you do that??? He is going to believe Kim only did that to find information on Porsche, like that he just used him. He didn't deserve this kind of heartbreak. I really hope, when Kim come back on his knees begging for Chay to give him a second chance (you know when he is going to see Chay being a sweetheart with his family, probably listening to Chay love song that he did for school), bc let be honest it's going to happen at some point, I want Chay to just be as means as Kim. I want Chay to makes him work for him!! (let's be real, it's not going to happen, Chay is too much of a sweetheart). I cried at the scene omg 😭

I really love Tankhun introduce himself to Chay, it was so sweet omg. It's good to see Khun being back in his true self, with his eccentric clothes and self. Even though, I reall enjoyed his king mafia self, I love this version of him!! He is going to adopt Chay, and makes him confortable in their home ! The mafia stuff is going to be too much for Chay, I think. Tankhun had been there, he knows what Chay is going through. I think he is going to protect him from all of this (like he did with his little brothers). Tankhun really loved his brothers, it was so sweet to see omg. I want to see all three interact with each other (but not now Kim, I am still mad at you). I need to see Chay and Tankhun together!!

Now Chay and Porsche my babies 😭 they live each other so much, it's just so cute to see 😭 Chay being worries for his big bro and Porsche reassures him omg 😭 Like Porsche did, Chay make a sacrifice by accepting living with the majors family. They are each other priorities. Now, they are living together, I want more scene with each other!!! I want Chay to go to Porsche to get some comfort (and if Porsche goes beat up Kim, I would not be mad) (bonus point if Tankhun goes with him).

Now my babies Kinnporsche. They are so in love, and so soft, and I'm so happy they get to be happy!! The first scene in bed, all soft and cuddly, Porsche telling Pete deserve some vacation!! That what bestie does for each other. All the lighting scream soft in this scene!! Then the scene when they announce their relationship omg!! Kinn call a urgent meeting for this!! He was ready to let go of Porsche bc he knew it was hurting Chay!!! He was, again, ready to sacrifice his happiness just to keep Porsche and his loved one safe!!! This man is in love!!!!! Tankhun rection omg !! He was so happy for his brother omg, and Kinn being all embarrassed by his brother, but at the same time he was happy omg!!! Then when Porsche came in, and Khorn being like '' do you love my son? '' with Chan next to him with his gvn. Pure comedy. Khorn mark some point with what he did (I will come back to that later). He accept Porsche and Chay in his home just to make Kinn (and Tankhun) happy 😭 really the major family has my heart. Honorable mention to Arm and Pol spying on the meeting and commenting it. They are like us.

I think the comment of love being obstacles to Porsche doing well his job ad protecting Kinn is 👀 I do think we are going to have a scene where Porsche protect Kinn bc he loves him and doesn't want to loose him (proving that love isn't in fact an obstacles)

Then, the scene when Porsche dry Kinn hair, sorry but if someone look at me the way Kinn look at Porsche, I would d!e on the spot. He look so soft??? What I found interesting in this scene is that he mentionned his mom? It's the first time he did it. Like why now, when you know, the parent are in the center of everything?? What if we learn more about her? What if she is the one who cause the car accident?👀

Then Tay and Time are back!! Tay I miss you please never leave. The way Kinn hold on into Porsche in front of his friends. He is never going to let him go. It's so sweet. The bar scene with Yok!! My queens!!!! Kinn was being so shy admit his love in front of her, that was so cute!! Their while interaction was so cute!!! Yok deserves the world!!! The way Kinn asked his friend advice for Porsche birthday omg. Then the helicopter Date omg. Really once again big shout out to Apo and Mile, they succeed make everyone understand what emotions and feeling their character feels without saying a world!!! Really this whole episode was just them being cute and soft and in love. It's so nice to see them happy and in love really. I don't think we will have heavy angst stuff from them like they are so in love?????

The best for last. VEGASPETE!!!! OMG it was better than I except!! Like the evolution of their relationship when you compare the first scene of the episode to the last one! It's just brillant. The way we saw Vegas evolve? Brillant too. We really want to a Vegas who enjoyed torture Pete for his own satisfaction, then a Vegas who release his frustration, his anger (his sadness??) on Pete to a Vegas who worries about Pete and Take care of him?? This man is going to be worse then Kinn. Kan doesn't deserve to have Vegas and Macau as son, I really hope he d!e with a lot of suffering. Pete, on the other hand, deserve the world. He really empathize with the man who torture him?? He is full of love omg. Like he could have not say a word about his own trauma, he could have let Vegas in his own shit after all. But no, he still take the time to talk to him, to tell him that he is not the problem, that it's his father the problems! This was a turning point in their relationship. Vegas has a realization about his father bc of this conversation , and that is going to help him a lot (I thing he is going to stop following his father orders to try and make him happy). But also, Vegas has someone who is nice to him, who understands him and what he went through, Pete is probably the first person who tell him that he doesn't have to compete with Kinn, that being just him, not comparing to Kinn, is good enough. Like I cried at this scene, bc for the first time in Vegas life someone is seeing him for what he is (not counting Macau here, even though he loves his brother I don't think he saw all the pain of his brother. Vegas play this role of the big strong man). Sorry but Vegas little smile at the end is so telling!!! They are both going to get vulnerable with each other next episode, I feel it in my bones I cannot wait!!!

Now with what the (not so) shocking news we learn in the last scene, I'm so excited for what come next omg!! We are going to finally find out what happen, why Khorn is so mysterious and sus about his relationship with Porsche!!

I do think that Khorn is not the bad guys here, j think it's Kan. The main difference between t them, is that Khorn is ready to do everything to protect, and to make happy the person he loved. Sure he seems cold and sus, but we never saw him mean toward to person he love. He accept his sons the way they are and never makes them feels less. He respect who Tankhun is, and didn't disowned him for his PTSD. He still loved Kinn for being gay. He accept his relationship with man, and let them lived in his house (same with Kinn's friend), he accept Kim not working in the mafia and being a singer. He wants his sons happiness, he accepts what their happiness are. He even accept Porsche and Chay to live in his home even though he knows it's coming to bite him the on ass. He is, somewhat, responsible for their parents death. He is going to have to take responsibility for it, assume it. He knows that. He knows it's going to cost him a lot. But he still do it bc he want to make his son happy. He never make Kinn worthless bc he makes mistake, bc he doesn't do his job right. On the other hand Kan is the opposite. He beat his sons, he make them feel worthless, like it' s their fault if they failed. He doesn't accept the way his sons are. He doesn't love them. What I really want to happen, is when we have the big fight between the major and minor family, at the end, Kan to be alone and Khorn to be with his loved one. Nobody is going to stick with Kan, Macau is going to leave and Vegas too. I want Vegas to betray his father. Like at the end, when Kan ask Vegas to do something, he just say no. That he will no longer do this stuff but he doesn't care about his approval and love anymore. It would be so good that Vegas protect Pete from his father, and tell him to not touch the man he love 😍

So okay!! KIMCHAY! Kim 🔪🔪🔪 you hurt my baby!!! how dare you??? it was so painful to see that! Little Chay was heartbroken!! I cried a little!! (Barcode did such a good job!! I felt the pain) My theory is that Kim did that to protect Chay because I think he had feelings for him but still painful to witness!! Kim is cancelled this week lol I read some people saying Kim maybe thinks Chay is his half-brother or something like that but I don't think so!! I really think it's the 'I'm going to sacrifice my happiness because I want you safe' thing for Kim!! when you see Kim's expressions you can see he is also in pain!! like it was hard for him!! But I really expect Chay put it difficult for his forgiveness haha Kim needs to suffer the same pain 🤭

The scene between Porsche and Chay was so cute!!! I understand why Chay was mad at the end Porsche is his only family! he was afraid to lose his brother!! but the way they handle that was adorable!! I really hope we would have more interactions between them!! Also, imagine Porsche discovering why Chay is so sad!! he will kill Kim!!! lmao, I'd love to see that!! or Tankhun, because I feel he already adopted Chay as his little brother too so it will be interesting to see Tankhun protecting Chay from his own brother hahaha I can imagine Khun being like 'why did you hurt my baby brother, Kim? and Kim being like 'I'm your baby brother !! 🤨 ' so funny!!

Now, KINNPORSCHE being so in love!! like gross!! get a room hahaha no but really I love them so much!! my babies 🥰️🥰️ deserve everything!! Kinn was so shy when he told his family about Porsche and his feelings!! that was so cute + Tankhun reaction was the best!!! hahaha, I love it!! and then we have Porsche being nervous because he didn't know what to expect but in the end everything was fine!! He is a new member of the major family!! and Chay of course!! but also feel Khorn knows things so that's why he accepted Porsche so easily!! suspicious!!

OMG, the hair drying scene was perfect!! The way they look at each other, they are so delicate and soft!! they are so in love!!! 💞 how Porsche wants to take care of Kinn and how Kinn wants to be taken care of!! <3 my heart can't take it!! the little smiles between these two and the little touches <3 <3 it was a perfect scene!! one of my faves but I'm with you about the mother!! why now?? 👀 what are we going to discover next episode!!!

The bed scene was so adorable!! Kinn is so gone for Porsche hahaha it's endearing!! and Porsche pouting hahaha because he was shy in front of Kinn's friends!! so cute!!! and the bar scene!! Yok, queen!!! when she asked Kinn if he loves her son lmao love it!! all that was super cute!!

Finally, the helicopter scene was so beautiful!! they never left other hands!! literally so so precious to see!! also, rip the pilot haha he has to listen to all the nasty things they did hahaha he being like 'I don't get enough money for this' lol I really want happy like this forever but I don't think that would happen because I remember in the trailer we have a scene when Porsche says to Kinn that he is in his side!! in what it looks like a bar or something like that so I feel we will have some angst soon! NOOOOOOOOO 😭 but also we still have the pool scene so 😏😏😏

Ok, now the moment is here!! VEGASPETE!!! OMG!!! wow, I was shaking!! It was so good!!! The way Vegas started with so much hate at the beginning of the episode and how we see all his evolution!! AMAZING!! the way he enjoyed the torture without any remorse and then at the end he started to care about Pete! I would love to have a series only about these two! I feel we would have so much exploration of all the emotions and their evolution! Pete is really an angel at this point!! He cares about the feelings of the person who is hurting him!! Like how?? we don't deserve him!! My sweet sunshine!! He cares about people, he knows that people aren't only black and white and sometimes their acts have something bigger behind them!! he's so smart!! I love how in this episode we know more about Vegas, real Vegas not the facade he puts himself in order to be the heir of the second family, the son his father would like to have but a glimpse of his real self! he only wants his father's approval, that's why he always trying to be better than Kinn but what he doesn't know is if his father won't ever be satisfied with him so it's a circle of pain and hatred! That's why is so important when Pete said to Vegas that his father is an ass. The way he explained to him that his father hates himself and that's why he can't love anyone!! It was a revealing part because nobody has told him that before! Vegas really thinks he isn't enough, that's why he is always competing with his cousin! he thinks that way he will have the respect he craves from his father but we all know Kan doesn't care, he doesn't care about his children, they are tools only. It's such an interesting relationship because it has so many layers!! So now Vegas has someone that in a way cares about him. Pete is a stranger in his circle, I feel the only person who does that is Macau but Vegas thinks that's normal because they are brothers and as you said Vegas plays the big brother card so it's different, he has never been so exposed to any other person, so having someone from outside asking for him is weird, he is confused because no one has done that before, Pete is gonna break all his walls and the moment he'll do that it will be over for Vegas. As you said he is going to be worse than Kinn lol his love for Pete is going to be more intense because he has never had anything like this probably he only has sex and relationships with ulterior motives (Tawan I see you) so Pete is gonna be the first one that he would open his heart too !! I really can't wait for more of these two I'm literally obsessed with them!!

Now the end of the episode, Kim discovers his father has something to do with Porsche and Chay's parent's death 'pretends to be shocked meme lol finally Kimlock Holmes did his job hahaha I really can't wait to see what would happen with this! Maybe it was a rival organization who did it!! I don't know!! so many possibilities!! really can't wait for Saturday!!!!

Omg really?? what a coincidence!! I was in Liège because my sister was doing her Erasmus there so I visited her a few times!! I really like it!! She showed me some things like the big stairs!! the cathedral, the opera part!! and of course Le Carré lmao I want to visit again!! I really like your country!! <3

You know what brings me so much happiness? It's that while writing the album Red, a young 20-22 year old Taylor who has suffered a disgusting amount of toxicity and abuse in relationships especially/most recently with J@ke, had found herself fanticizing about a relationship based on true, pure, genuine love and adoration and respect for one another in which her partner chooses to stay devoted to her no matter what that she wrote a song about it. And, years later, when re-recording the song and the rest of the album containing such heartbreaking songs about her experiences, she can now sing them knowing that she has found that special someone in her life who chose to stay with her and love her devotedly-someone who helped her heal from past wounds and treats her with so much love and respect. Someone who she can dedicate Stay Stay Stay-a song depicting her ideal vision of endless adoration as mutual respect-to. And I think that it's such a beautiful thought and testament that it is ALWAYS possible to find a true, golden, and real kind of love that you are deserving of, regardless of all your flaws and past trauma, and finally feel healed, in love, and at peace. I hope the same love between Tay and Joe happens to all of us who want it as well 💖💖💜💜💛💛💙💙

Ducktales Della Arc Reviews: The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!

Hello all you happy people. I’ve been dreading this one.. not because it’s bad. Quite the oppisite. In fact on rewatch I was marveling at how brilliant this one was and remembering why it was on my best of list. But because the ending, as you all well know, is the most gutwrenching part of the entire series. Three seasons and lots of other heartrending moments.. and the ending of this episode from the big reveal to that final shot above tears you the fuck apart. It’s hard to watch even know it all works out in the end and that i’d be watching the conclusion the next day instead of having to wait a rather painful week like I did at first airing. It’s just that good. So join me under the cut for a review of one of the series finest half hours and some of David Tennant’s best work as we crash the Sunchaser one last time.. for this season... and i think Launchpad crashes it again in the finale so I don’t get that title.

So our plot for the episode is that

Yes Clan McDuck is taking their version of a vacation. It’s off to Monocrow for the E.X.C.E.S.S. Expo! Yes it’s the EXCESS Expo! With the latest in racecars lasers and many more! The EXCESS Expo! With booths from such welcome guests as Stark International, Muppet Labs, S.T.A.R. Labs, VenTech, The Franklin Sherman Memorial Fishmobabywhirlomgig Institute, TCRI, Gryzzl, Sumdac Systems, G-Heavy Industries, Tylerco, Lexcorp, Wayne Enterprises, Quickstart, The Gizmonic Institute, Alchemax,and Baintronics! But that’s not all! We also have huge paneeellls! He’s dead. oh shame. Someone call rusty venture. Yes I know i’m typing this. Shut up. THE EXCESS EXPO. BE THERE OR WE’LL SEND OUR ROBOTS AFTER YOU.

... Where.. Where was I? Oh yes, big vacation. Monocrow.. which sadly is not just a big field with just Crow T. Robot in it. Someday you’ll get MST3K/Ducktales Jake, someday. Point is our heroes are excited, and Scrooge is also there to find the Maltese MacGuffin, a mysterious artifact no one’s ever seen. And the kids and Scrooge have their own specail guest joining them: Bentina! Yeah turns out she has hundreds of vacation days built up, and simply hasn’t used them so she’s using a few to join them. It also once again shows how much less of a heartless money monster this Scrooge is as any of his employees asking for a vacation, paid or not, in the comics would result in this:

So their off on their greatest adventure.. with Louie having’ bought something mysterious along with him he’s only telling the other kids about. On with the intro!

Beakly.. is intstantly not at ease as they take off after driving their jeep into the plane. She feels launchpad is reckless, rightfully so not helped by a lack of seatbelts on the plane or his cheefully saying the closest he’s got, a floatie, will help “When” we crash. She’s also equally annoyed by Scrooge’s cavalier attitude, having intrusted the kids to him only to find out what the adventueres are really like. And this is the only part of the episode that REALLY doesn’t work. She KNOWS these two idiots too well for this to be beliviable. Launchpad wrecks part of the mansion at least once a day, and before Duckworth she had to clean that shit up. He’s there all the time.. and more damingly HE DROVE YOU AND YOUR KID, YOUR KIDS BEST FRIENDS, AND YOUR KIDS GIRLFRIEND TO THE FUCKING MOVIES. I can’t buy given how bad a driver launchapd is she didn’t wrench the wheel from him to prevent their early graves. Scrooge meanwhile is her BEST FRIEND. And until season 2 for her and 3 for him ONLY friend. Sure she works for him, but outside of one incident in this episode he treats her as his equal more than his housekeeper for the entire series. They trust each other more than anyone else at this point. And the only other two people Scrooge ends up trusting as much are Donald and Della. She’s been around him enough to know how he is. What did she THINK he was going to be like with the kids? She’s met the twins, and even mroe so is on good terms with Donald even into the pilot and they only got off on bad terms due to clashing over house rules. So she KNWOS this is what he does with children. You can’t be shocked Scrooge took children on death defying adventures in a barely secured plane after all this time. It’d be like giving Donald a turkey to carve and being suprised when it ends in this...

It just dosen’t work especially with a professional spy! Her job is reading people! And yes I know many of you are going to say “Well she misread Bradford”... but so did Scrooge and so many others. NO ONE suspected him. He’s that good. So her suddenly having a complaint about all this stuff when she could’ve come along anytime to check it out or just looked at the plain bothers me a LOT. Thankfully it’s only really present at the start as while it sets off her concern their back and forth soon has a far deeper meaning. But Scrooge insists Launchpad take her on a tour to ease her worry, seems like a contrdictary set of sentences there, while he flies. How hard could it be. Somewhere on the Moon, Della has the sudden urge to kick her uncle’s ass.

So meanwhile in a secret base set up in a cargo box, the kids are working on the Della mystery. Turns out what Louie smuggled aboard was the documents shredded on the date the boys found on the Spear of Selene plans. Louie got them by smooth talking Quackfaster who even he found nuts. It also once again shows Dewey was only holding things back by keeping the other boys out as in jus weeks, since chronologically there were two other episodes between this and the last Della episode versus just one, their almost to the truth as one document from that day is simply torn into pieces and simply needs to be re-jiggered like a puzzle. Like most puzzles though naturally once they get it all together they find there’s one goddamn piece missing and it ends up loose int he plane flitting around... just as Scrooge majorly screws up and bumps things, leading Beakly to wonder where the kids are and them to scramble out.

So yeah Scrooge seemingly crashed the plane.. except Launchpad notes that if they crashed.. why are they still airborne? This leads to everyone finding out their precariously perched on a VERY narrow rock that’s skewered the plane. Orignially the crew decided to strictly adhere to the concept that any movement would rock the thing.. but realized i’td make things boring visually so they allowed themselves some artistic license.

So yeah our heroes are stuck in a hard place and Scrooge stubbornly digs in insisting he can fix this and turns on the plane.. which sends it spinning and prevents Dewey from getting the piece which ends up wedged in the jeep. Huh I think we need some appropriate music for going in circles.

So yeah all Scrooge did was blow up one of the engines... I mean the blow up the engine button is right there, would’ve saved you some time. So Beakley berates him for not calling for help and digging in and for it’s next plan it’s time for Handyman Corner where he’s going to show you how to jumpstart a plane with a jeep’s engine. Beakly is not impressed and Scrooge’s case is not helped as Louie feigns fear , with Huey and Webby following his lead, so Dewey can get the piece. Unfortunately pointing out the very REAL dangers they face, with Huey giving the odds and Webby pointing out unlike most dangers they face there’s no easy way out and no villian to fight, sends Louie into an actual panic, jumpstarting the car and causing the cargo bay to open, leading to one hell of a sequence: From Bentina driving a butterfly knife into the ground to hold the kid’s secret base crate (and wondering why it’s so heavy), to Launchpad desperatley platforming his way to saftey to scrooge swining in with his cane to rescue them. It’s some whopper animation that really shows off how damn good the team was and how gorgeous this show truly was at it’s best.

The results aren’t good: the plane’s ballnce is now off so even a slight movement can move it, a holdover from the original idea simply saved for when it’d create the most tension. As a result Dewey can’t get the last piece as he can’t move and Scrooge berates the kids and has thems tay still watching the end credits of darkwing duck (It’s launchpad’s inflight movie and the tape is jammed to that section.

IT’s here the Scrooge and Beakley stuff went from poorly written to “oh shit” in one line. Scrooge is getting more and more desperate to prove he can take care of the kids on his own but Beakely’s demeanor has turned from annoying scolding.. to genuine concern and PLEADING with him not to go through with another dumb stunt that will leave them in a worse situation, int his case using the parachutes as counterweights to fix the engine. He refuses both rebuffing her as “your boss” (Which gets her rightfully pulling on the cord too tight) .. but then that one line comes in “I can protect her”. Beakley is confused.. but it instantly makes clear this is about Della and on rewatch now knowing the reveal at the end.. it makes it that much more heartbreaking. Part of his refusal to backdown is his natural nature as a stubborn ass. It’s been well displayed throughout this season and the ones after it: HIs refusal to backdown from nevverst, his jealousy of Dewey for being better at him and his refusal to accept it.. the man just does not back down and while it’s good in tight spots and against bad guys, as he finds a way out for him and his family with sheer grit and badassery... it’s a massive character flaw when dealing with people, as refusing to actually talk to them like a ratoinoal adult only makes things worse. And boy oh boy is he about to make things worse. But the other part is he can’t admit to himself there’s a risk in his lifestyle and that he can’t keep everyone safe constantly.. that theres inherent danger. He’s bought into the “because i’m scrooge mcduck” mantra here not out of his ego, entirely, but because he can’t let that not be enough again. He can’t LOOSE someone again like he lost Della and he can’t fail again. So his worst trait and his greatest trauma have mixed to make him act so rashly even Launchpad takes some shouting to agree to give him the other parachute. It’s clear he’s endangering EVERYONE to prove he can save them.

Eventually though things reach their head as Dewey CAN’T take the wait anymore. He’s waited his whole life to find out about his momma, and the answer’s feet away... and he can’t let it sit any longer. He HAS to know what happened. So he goes for it, though the rest of the kids are against it since i’ts highly risky and they can wait Huey ends up agreeing to help using his Junior Woodchuck knowledge (Where Newton apparently got the idea), to counterbalance hsi weight and guide him via walkee talkee. It’s a really nice moment, not only showing off Huey’s skill and intellect but also how much they care for her. Dewey may of screwed up last time but their still the duck boys and if he can’t talk him out of being sucidially reckless.. Huey’s going to at least give him a fighting chance.

Unfortunately Scrooge spots him mid argument with Beakley and naturally wants him to give it here... but once the ship buckles when Dewey tries we get the scene that makes the episode. Up till now the tension has been top notch, ratcheting up by bit, not knowing if the kids would get caught, if something would happen with the plane all building to this. Scrooge and Dewey’s final chase. Dewey uses the distraction to make a runner for it with Scrooge following.. and Launchapd using the fact he’s still attached to the airbag to stop him. It’s a small but excellent character moment, showing that as much as Launchpad loves his boss.. he loves his best friend and eveyrone else’s saftey more. SCrooge of course uses it to knock him back while Beakley and the kids counterbalance. We also get the best joke of the episode as Beakley tells them to stop running.. only for them to simply start tip toeing, with Bentina’s reaction being a perfectly resigned “That’s not what I meant and you know it”.

It’s a tense chase, with both sides using the enviorment to their advantage from the parachute to the crate.. and it’s breaking open reveals something’s gonig on and causes Beakley to notice Webby has the blueprints in her pocket and once she unfurls them and finds out what they are.. she can only give a sad, remorseful “oh children, what have you been up to” She’s not even mad like they seem to think.. she’s just sad, knowing the wound that’s about to be reopened for her closest friend and the one that’s about to be inflicted on those poor children, and knowing that they’re ALL made it worst by hiding it. Toks deserves all the praise for her delivery here.

Eventually the piece blows outside of the plane and Dewey refuses to give up and go after it. Things get their most tense as everyone BEGS him not to come back, it’s not worth his death to get this. It’s not worth all of this. But he simply chucks the walkee away and ignores them. We then get Scrooge going from scolding grandpa.. to dearly begging Dewey to come back... David’s delvery here is just heartbreaking “I can’t protect you. Is that what you wanted me to say. Please lad just tell me what it will take to come back inside?” And Ben Schwartz meets it with an utterly emotional “Tell me about the spear of selene”. The animation here is once again some of the series best with Dewey’s determined face and Scrooge’s heartbreak as he realizes he has to finally stop hiding this from them and he’s not ready. So he takes his uncles hand.. and if you thought all of this is painful.. oh boy.. we’re just getting started.

So back in the plane, with Launchpad setting up a table and a proper counterbalance so they can all sit, Scrooge finally explains and the boys, webby, and us int he audience all get the answers we desperately wanted: It was 10 1/2 years ago. The Original Trio had journeyed the world, having all sorts of adventures and making themselves into legends. But eventually you hit a wall and they’d realized they’d been just about everywhere. They could still globetrot of courser and as Season 3 would bear out there were some places they didn’t know about.. but the earth was about used up. So Della, being an aerospace wunderkind, thought of the next logical place to go. The stars. The Spear of Selene was a rocket, her pet project to give her kids, who she was expecting at the time the stars.

Thing was Donald wasn’t on board with this at all. And the clash between the two, which we see in the flashback but don’t hear since Scrooge is narrating all of this over some cool looking semi-still images, was inetiviable. As I coverd in the spear of selene review I feel Donald was burnt out at this point. That he was tired of adventures and just wanted normalcy even before Scrooge forced his hand with what was to happen next. So to him Della should just settle down, live a regular life and raise those kids. The problem is... Della WASN’T burnt out. She didn’t need a break to live a normal life like Donald badly needed. She wanted to keep going and it was her choice. While Donald ultimately was right about the risk, he was wrong to try and force her into a life she didn’t want and project on her like that.

What happened next though was all on Scrooge and Della. Scrooge simply did the thing that’s likely part of why Donald resents him so much and it took so long to fix thing: He ignored what Donald felt and thought, sided with Della and built the ship without telling either of them. His selfishness, thinking he knows what best and treatment of donald.. all backfired horribly. Della sussed out the ship.. and I still feel she was suspicious on her own.. and that Bradford telling her was him simply handing her a lit fuse knowing it’d go off and WHATEVER happened as a result of this would break scrooge. Even if the rocket had gone off saftely and everything was fine.. he could easily claim Della threatned him,k which she probably did and he simply went with it, and either way Donald would be unable to forgive either SCrooge or Della for the deciet. It just went better, and worse than he could’ve anpiciapted: much like the fantastic four she took the ship in the dead of night and hit a cosmic storm, with Scrooge only finding out in time to try and help her.. but the storm hit the ship.. and unlike the ff instead of gaining the power to turn invisible, she simply disappeared. She was lost. He and Donald didn’t speak again after Donald found out till 6 months ago.

If that wasn’t heartbreaking enough.. it gets worse. The kids, full of fresh pain and anger over Scrooge’s part in things, their mom abandoning them, and their uncles hiding this for decades.. take it out on the one person there. Frank and Matt recently said in an artcle detailing the best 7 episodes from one site, or at least what the site considered to be the best, that Donald was absent because he also knew and would’ve told them sooner. I also feel it’s because he would’ve disarmed this conflict, at least admitting what scrooge did alongside beakley. As mad as he was.. his own anger had started to disapate. The wound was fresh to the boys and thus they lashed out.

Dewey blames him for it outright, Huey tell shim he should’ve called her back, and Louie tells him he shoudl’ve sent a fleet of ships to find her. As we find out in the somehow even MORE crushing ending he did the last two and as I made clear, and the show does, this was Della’s horrible decision. She took an unfinsihed rocket, she left her kids, she did this. While she regretted it and I don’t hold it against her because she spent 10 years away from the mon the moon, she’s suffered THROUGHLY for it and I don’t feel I need to pile on, Scrooge wasn’t wholly responsible. Still partly. Dewey makes things worse by impling scrooge GAVE UP ON HER because it cost too much.

Look the rest of it is valid, if misguided, as Beakley tries to chime in on it and correct them knowing the full story. But claming, no matter how greedy he is that Scrooge would ABANDON HER.. that’s just wrong and he knows it. It’s why Scrooge gets so upset.. and why he pushes the last two people in his corner away. Webby critisizes building the rocket and Scrooge belts out “This is a family matter, your not family”. runing his position and poisiong his one ally by lashing out at someone who DID NOT DESERVE THIS. Make no mistake, this is present day scrooge’s WORST action. The past scrooge did worse, we saw that, but this is almost worse than the goat thing. Telling a child h’ed basically adopted, ignoring the finale twist for this as it’s irrelvant and all it does is twist the knife deeper, that “she’s not family” just because he wants someone to be mad at besides his boys... that’s fowl. Everyone’s against him except launchpad and tha’ts where his stubbornesst ragically comes in: he digs in his heels refuses to explain.. and the plane crashes due to it. though safely. Their safe.. but the family is broken.

So we get our hell of an ending scenes. Donald cheerfully announces to the boys, who earlier had no intention of leaving anyway, the boats finished.. only for Dewey to inform him “We know abotu the spear of selene” . Donald is heartbroken, not only that they know.. but that he didn’t tell them.

But since “it gets worse” is this episodes motto, we end on Beakley, Webby and Duckworth all leaving on vacation. How a ghost does vacations I dunno, maybe he’s going to go to Amity Park. Point is Webby, despite EVERYTHING , is crestfallen he’s not even going to say goodbye and still worried. As I said in my review of the finale.. it’s her heart that makes her and while Scrooge may be a dick right now.. he’s family. So we get the final lines of the episode Beakley: Well, you've successfully pushed your family and everyone who ever cared about you away... again. I hope you're happy. Scrooge:I AM

It’s just damn heartbreaking.. once again he’s lost everything and is too bitter to admit it and try and get it back. And as we see between the lines.. the boys were wrong: He drained his bin and his buisnesses creating a fleet to get Della back, and kept going despite the expense. He did everything he could to call her back. Nothing worked.. and he only stopped because the board yanked him away, Bradford sneering with pride as his plan, which backfired HORRIBLY, had at last finally gotten him what he wanted: a broken scrooge tired of adventure. And as Scrooge sits in his chair seething.. he’s broken again, angry, with tears in his eyes, loving nobody.. and nobody loving him, eerily mimickcking his first appearance in comics.

Final Thoughts:

This episode is a masterpice. It’s perfectly paced, with only a minor flaw tha’ts qwuickly snuffed out for a gripping drama. This was a gamble, taking 9 minutes where ther’es almost no jokes and just pure tensino and heartbreak.. but it paid off. This episode is one of the series finest and leads to one hell of a finale but on it’s own.. it’s nigh untouchable. This is the series at it’s best, and the finale and later information (More about Della and the spear, WEbby’s true origin, bradford’s role in all this and role as head of fowl), only make it better, with all those things being aware to the creators but not us. They really made us wait for this reveal but damn if it wasn’t perfect.

Next Time: Webby, Bentina and Launchpad try to desperatley piece the family back together before the boys and donald leave forever.. and Scrooge’s darkest hour leaves him vunerable for his greatest foe. It’s finally time to get back to Lena as the Shadow War descends over our heroes.

Julianne Hough Is (maybe) a Thing (October 2009 - January 2010)

So Taylor and Julianne had interacted before this point. Taylor and Kellie and Julianne had hosted something together earlier, and Julianne was on Dance Wars back when Liz was, but Julianne’s presence in Taylor’s life ramps up a TON for this very brief period of time. Julianne was 21 and Taylor was 18 (slightly larger age gap than TayLiz).

The important thing about JH’s presence in Taylor’s life for this period of time, however, is that Julianne is out as “not straight,” and is the only woman possibly romantically connected to Taylor to have come out like this -- unless you could Dianna with #Shirtgate and/or think Cara Delevingne and Taylor have hooked up at some point. So, let’s keep this in mind moving forward. However, JH is also incredibly racist and even did blackface at one point, so we do not stan and are not shipping this.

24 October 2009 - Taylor and JH paint each other for Katy Perry’s birthday party. Taylor maybe gives JH a blue boob grab and JH paints her initials onto Taylor’s dress. This is the evidence most people point to as to something happening with them during the “Lost Years.” Is it a smoking gun? No, but it’s definitely interesting.

I’m divided into two camps of belief on Taylor’s relationship with JH: either they were hooking up, or JH was just a big gay mentor/friend figure for Taylor. I’ve put the evidence of their interactions below, so you can try to figure it out with me:

25 October 2009 - JH and Taylor tweet at each other a bunch about the party.

Taylor Squared also attend a hockey game together.

27 October 2009 - Taylor and Selena have dinner. JH crashes. She tweets at Taylor then invites her to the “MJ premiere.” Taylor tweets about being chased by the paps, presumably because she was hanging out publicly with Selena and JH.

That night, Liz and Taylor perform together on Dancing With the Stars:

28 October 2009 - Taylor Squared go shopping and have a dinner date. They also take these obviously staged car photos.

(The lens has to have been on the hood of the car or something. There’s no way they didn’t notice the camera).

29 October 2009 - Taylor films the Roomies Sketch for SNL. If you haven’t go seen it yet, go WATCH IT RIGHT NOW. It is the start of all of the Gaylor Swift rumors (which we’ll get to later).

Considering how Taylor reacted when Liz got sick, and the fact that a lot of SNL sketches are based on jokes about the guest’s life/work, etc., I’m thinking this sketch was possibly about tour roommates TayLiz. But if that doesn’t sell you on it, maybe this gif comparison will:

1 November 2009 - Taylor and Liz go to Paramore concert in Nashville. They dance together to the songs “Misery Business” and “That’s What You Get.” Very girlfriend-y.

7 November 2009 - Taylor hosts Saturday Night Live and the Roomies Sketch airs.

Immediately after the Roomies Sketch airs, people flood After Ellen (a lesbian forum site -- think the L Chat but earlier) with gossip about Taylor being gay. Unfortunately, the original screenshot does not exist, but here’s someone on the L Chat talking about what happened that night:

Now while, once again, I hope all that stuff with Emily didn’t actually happen, for Taylor’s sake, it is really intriguing that the possibly-TayLiz-based Roomies sketch is the start of all of Taylor’s gay rumors.

11 November 2009 - CMT Awards. Taylor performs and wins an award. JH congratulates her on it with a tweet.

The secret message for Story of Us is “CMT Awards.” At the CMT awards in 2009, Taylor was separated from the band, so if TayLiz was having a hard time, (possibly due to JH jealousy, maybe because they hadn’t seen each other that much since tour ended) this would fit the line “standing alone in a crowded room and we’re not speaking.” Liz had retweeted Taylor about SNL earlier this week, though, so they may have been on good terms and this is not the CMT Awards that the linter note refers to. Or the liner notes are all lies. Who knows?

12 November 2009 - JH and Taylor have a movie night together.

16 November 2009 - Taylor leaves for the Fearless tour in London. JH tweets at her to “have fun.”

18 November 2009 - TayLiz are papped in London returning to their hotel at midnight. (The London paps LOVE Taylor around this period of time, so a lot of the best TayLiz photos come from when they’re in London).

20 November 2009 - Liz tweets that she loves London. Taylor and Co are specifically in London for the Fearless tour, and TayLiz seem to be most “on” when they’re touring together. Perhaps that’s why she’s so excited to be in London...

21 November 2009 - Taylor and Liz go shopping and get lunch with Caitlin and Andrea at Portobello Market.

23-24 November 2009 - Fearless in London. The tour goes on break for the holidays after this.

December 2009 - Taylor and Taylor “break up”.

9 December 2009 Taylor goes on an ice cream date with Emma Stone in New York after connecting over email (note that this is the same story she tells about who she wrote Enchanted about -- connecting over e-mail and then meeting in person in NYC). So as much as I’d like to give Enchanted to Liz, it fits better with Emma.

What this implies to me is that whatever was going on with JH wasn’t that serious, if Enchanted is indeed about Emma and Taylor went and got ice cream because she was trying to pursue something with her. Or nothing was going on at all and JH was just some big gay mentor. Or even just a friend.

10 December 2009 - Taylor tweets about liking the song I Know About You by Dashboard Confessional that has a bunch of lyrical parallels to cardigan. Here’s a few choice ones:

11 December 2009 - TayLiz and Caitlin go shopping together in NYC

13 December 2009 - Taylor’s 20th Birthday. Her backup dancer, Brandon, comes out at her party (something that’s interesting because he notes that it was while touring with her that he’d found a queer community):

The first time Stansell came out publicly was at Taylor Swift’s birthday party 10 years ago. “I was dancing on Taylor Swift’s Fearless tour,” says Stansell, 33. He was also juggling his studies as a senior at the conservative Belmont College in Nashville. He wasn’t out there, and he wasn’t out to his conservative parents. But he had found a support system for the first time. “I had queer friends in my life,” he says. “And I had a boyfriend.”

To me, this suggests that there were multiple queer people on tour at the time, and Taylor and Liz may have been two of them. However, it’s also possible that he had just found a queer community within Nashville, but the fact that the quote goes straight from “I was touring with Taylor” to “I had queer friends” implies to me some sort of connection between the two.

Maybe Liz just likes the song. But I think it’s interesting considering Taylor seems to be out and about with another woman after a whole summer of them being Roomies. I also think it’s intriguing that one of Liz’s favorite nicknames for Taylor is “Tay,” which just happens to be the secret message of Back to December... Did something go wrong between TayLiz at the end of December? Or is the song really for Taylor Lautner, despite the obvious stuntiness of that relationship?

6 January 2010 - Liz congratulates Taylor on something and says she “missed our family,” implying they haven’t seen each other since touring in London together.

9 January 2010 - TayLiz attend a housewarming party together.

19 January 2010 - TayLiz and Caitlin hang out.

23 January 2010 - TayLiz and Caitlin get on a plane to get back on tour.

25 January 2010 - Taylor films something with The Agency and there are a lot of laughs.

27 January 2010 - Taylor and JH attend the same cancer charity event together,

This is the last time we see Taylor and JH together for a long while, and judging by the way Taylor seems to be deliberately avoiding touching JH’s bare back in that last hug, if they had anything, it’s over by this point. Taylor is single and ready to mingle mope about it for a few months.

CONCLUSION: So, did Taylor and JH happen? Maybe. Maybe not. On one hand, I want to believe it did, since, as stated previously, JH is the only out queer woman that Taylor has rumors with.

The SNL Roomies sketch certainly reads to me as being about TayLiz being roomies on tour, and so the fact that all of Taylor’s gay rumors started here certainly makes a case for TayLiz having been doing something during the first half of the Fearless tour. However, they seem to have drifted apart a bit during the winter. Could this be due to JH? Or something else entirely? Could JH have just been a gay mentor? Who knows for sure. However, something must’ve caused TayLiz to cool down because what’s next is:

description: she left the outer banks two years ago and now she’s coming back for the summer. they haven’t seen each other since she skipped town without telling him. they’ve both hurt each other, so how do they come back from heartbreak?

author’s note: i haven’t wrote any kind of series in YEARS so this is going to be a challenge, but i’m so up for it. s/o to tay for coming out with the most beautiful album ever. (also thank you for your support of everything i’m doing lately. holy crap it means so much.)

he knew she was on her way back to the outer banks.

it had been two years since he saw her face. he hadn't heard her voice in 24 months. 730 days. 17,520 hours. 1,051,200 minutes. it was the longest he had gone without speaking to her since they were ten.

now, at the age of 20, he was feeling a hole in his heart that he had never felt before. there were so many moments of wanting to call her, drop everything and go to her.

he knew that photography was her dream and that she couldn’t have turned down the offer to travel the country with a popular wedding photographer, but that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt any less when she left.

she left without a word to him, instead telling the other pogues the day before she skipped town. in so many ways, his world came crashing down in front of him. but he knew he didn’t deserve a goodbye. he hurt her in the same way, if not more.

her.

the car ride to the outer banks was a long one. after finishing her last wedding of the spring, she decided to take the summer off after working every day for almost two years. she missed her family and the friends who became her family.

she kept in touch with the people closest to her, sarah, john b, pope and kiara. they were the ones who encouraged her to chase her dreams, but not to forget where she had come from. they were the reason she was making the 15 hour drive back to her hometown. spending the summer back in the place she grew up would be both wonderful and terrifying all at the same time.

she missed her friends more than anything, but terrifying because for the first time in all of her 19 years, her life was going impeccably well. she said yes to an opportunity that allowed her to live outside of the outer banks and chase a dream that she had had since she was little. her entire life had been filled with “no’s” and playing it safe, but for the first time her life was fulfilling.

but the outer banks was home. she missed the salty smell of the beach and the heat of the north carolina coast. she missed the chateau and drinking with the pogues into the morning. she missed the simplicity that came with living on a little island and was ready to spend a summer living a quieter life.

she felt a pit in the bottom of her stomach, thinking about the one reason she almost didn't come back. jj maybank.

jj.

he was sitting at the edge of the dock, his feet dangling into the cool water. a chill ran down his spine, from the temperature and at the thought of seeing her tomorrow. what was he going to say? should he say anything at all? everyone was home from college for the summer and would be at the chateau waiting for her. they would spent the day on the water, just like old times. except this was nothing like the old times.

everything had changed. college was just the beginning of the end. he could feel it in his bones. it seemed like sarah and john b were on a fast track for marriage. with all the impulsive things they had done in the past, jj was sure they would “accidentally” end up in a courthouse someday or john b would propose with a fucking ring pop out of spontaneity.

kie and pope had an "on and off" relationship, almost every week. most of their friends couldn't keep up. kie would spend a few months traveling, then visit pope for a few months, long distance took it's toll on them, but they were making it work.

so he was the only one left. the only one waking up alone. the only one that stuck around in the obx. he wanted so desperately to get out for good, to leave and never come back. but what was he going to do? it's not like he was set up for success. there was always one road block after another preventing him from leaving. so he just stayed, worked his ass off to bring the chateau back to life and fix up the place that he now called home. hoping that one day it would all pay off. wondering each day if one thing had been different, would everything be different?

her.

she had just crossed the border into north carolina when her phone lit up.

can't wait to see you tomorrow, Fin!

of course, sarah would be the one to text her first. a smile grew across her face reading the nickname her friends had given her in middle school. it's what most people in her life had now called her, and it just stuck. she honestly couldn't remember where it came from, but it felt good to be a part of something familiar again.

she had been pretty nervous about seeing her friends, knowing that she had dropped the move on them suddenly, unexpectedly. it definitely wasn't fair to them but she needed out of the outer banks. it was hard to live there. reliving the pain that made her want to leave in the first place. seeing jj everyday dug the dagger in her heart a little deeper.

they were good together. like really good. the most shaping points of their lives were spent together. she remembered the night they spent together the summer before their sophomore year of high school.

the pogues had left for a party at the boneyard, but she decided to stay back at the chateau because of a headache. jj stayed with her in order to avoid the possibility of seeing the touron he had just had a one night stand with.

they set up camp in the living room, jj beat her three times at mario kart and she beat him the last round. he offered her a blunt and she said no, too nervous that the volleyball team would do a random drug test before school started. instead she spent the night letting the vodka burn down her throat as jj filled the room with smoke.

they had been going on four years of friendship and she was by far the closest to him. if jj was there, so was she. most days, they seemed like a package deal. each of the pogues had begun to notice and questioned them almost daily.

two hours into their night, she wasn't sure if it was the buzz she had from the alcohol or the way that jj was intently staring at her as she drank, but the words escaped her mouth without any second guess. "have you ever thought about us?" all jj did was nod. soon enough, their mouths collided in a mess of weed and alcohol and their bodies felt as if they melted together. and that was the beginning.

from that night on, they were inseparable for almost three years. spending days on the hms pogue, drinking too late, eating at the wreck, visiting the drive in theater, riding jj's bike around the island. those three years were the best of her life. he pulled her walls down, gave her a reason to keep moving forward. they dreamed of traveling the world together, getting out of the outer banks for good. she thought he was the one. the one who would be her person for life. the one she would grow old with. the one she would create a life with.

that's not something you can throw away overnight. but he did.

Ariana Grande pt.2

As I said in part 1, I'm gonna continue on listing Ariana Grande's albums and which songs are my favorites of each. So here we go

5. Thank u, next - 2019 This is one of her most strong, u might say, albums, you can feel her pain in the lyrics AND in some of her performances. This album dropped after her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller passed away. ( The most heartbreaking thing is that some people even blamed her for Mac's death). This album once again is filled with songs that I love and that make me FEEL. sooo my favs are: -Ghostin -Make up (Once again learned the choreography) -In my head (Obsessed with her vogue performance of this song) -Needy -Imagine (The whistle tho)

6. K bye for now - 2019 Ariana dropped 'K bye for now' in 2019 after her Sweetener Tour. this album is filled with live songs from her previous albums, but principally 'Thank u, next' and 'Sweetener'. She dropped a video documentary of this tour and u can find it on Netflix. My favorites one from this r: -Raindrops -Successful -Make up -Fake smile -Needy -Be alright -God is a woman extra: Give it up ft. ELIZABETH GILLIES

Positions - 2020 I still remember that I stood up all night to listen to this album right when it dropped, since we were in locked down because of covid this was one of the few things that excited me. On July 21st, 2018 @taylorswift saw our sign from the center pit, "Our LOVE STORY began with Tay" she pointed at Shaun and I, I fell apart. Waiting for the day she finds us and we can thank her for our Love Story, tell her how she's been a massive part of it.

I haven’t done one of these in a long-ass time, figured it’d be fun. The theme for this one is “details.” Not your typical one-word answer or yes/no questions. 1. What is the meaning of your name? (first, middle, and/or last, you pick) My first name is Tuấn, which in Vietnamese means bright. My middle name is Minh, which can also mean bright. Both personify a meaning of a beacon of light, which is something I try to live up to. I actually wrote a post about this a while back, haha! 2. What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself? I would have to say resilient, compassionate, and witty. 3. What is your favorite color? (be as specific as you want, down to the exact shade, even) #083060. It’s the shade of blue in the beginning seconds of dawn right before the sun peeks over the horizon as the pinks and oranges of the sunrise begin to mix within the sky. 4. What is one physical attribute about yourself that you think draws people in? Haha! I mean, I don’t know if there really is one, I can just hear guys say, “but he’s got a great personality” when delving into this topic. Hahaha! But I suppose I can say that I have been complimented on my smile, which honestly, I feel like is more tied to my personality than any physical attribute. 5. If you ever have kids, what type of parent do you think you'd be? Oh hell, I always joke about this, but probably in all seriousness, I definitely would probably be the pushover, easy-going parent. Whoever has the unfortunate fate of being my counterpart will have to pick up the slack. Haha! 13. What seemed normal growing up in your family but now seems not normal? Um, being a Republican. -______- 14. What is the "TL;DR" version of your life? Hapless fool narrowly avoids an ill-fated end once again. 15. If you could live in a fictional world, which one would you pick? I actually think I would fare pretty well in the Toy Story world (as a toy). 16. When was a point in your life where you felt the weakest? The eleven years that spanned from when I was 14 until I was 25, when I had the toughest time dealing with my mental illness. 17. What aspect of life do you feel like you have unrealistic expectations about? Gonna be honest, I have some pretty unrealistic expectations about falling in love. I mean, who doesn’t want an epic beginning of a love story, but y’all, that ain’t a healthy dream, I will tell you that much. Haha! 18. What is one memory you can never forget? I think one that sticks in my mind the most is December 15, 2015. This memory, in particular, without going into that much detail, is one that has that rare mix of joy and sadness that, for me, makes it all the more precious. 19. What is one quote you try to live your life by? “Never stop being a good person because of bad people.” 20. No consequences, if you could change one event in your life, what would it be? I would want my best friend to still be alive today. This one is a little complicated of an answer, to be honest. But if I were to pick one event to change that would not cause any consequences, I would pick this one. Every day, I wish that my best friend was still alive and still with me today, that I could text him or call him and just talk to him, tell him about my day, joke about Spongebob, talk about Paris by Night. I know that this loss of mine, in the grand scheme of things, has made me stronger, has made me more appreciative of life, and has taught me a valuable and hard-learned lesson about love. Obviously, no one should ever have to go through life suffering such a heartbreak like this, but it is a heartbreak that I felt like has somehow colored my life and changed my fate in a way that I never could have imagined. But there are a lot of times in my life where I can’t help but think that my life would have a different color and a different fate if my best friend were still alive today. 21. Lastly, what is your most fervent wish right now? No joke, world peace.

folklore think piece

for a lower case album such as this, i will be writing a lowercase think piece on the subject. i will not explain why. you get it or you don’t.

the 1: i have never been in love or any type of romantic relationship that left me with lasting feelings of any kind. but, on my fourth listen through of this song today, what once was just a promising and fun intro to this peasant girl summer gut punch, brought me to actual tears as i sat on the toilet in my lime green childhood bathroom as if i were mourning the one that got away (another great song). however, i am an expert on being hung up on the past, the “what could have been”, and made up hypotheticals. this song also introduces the film motif seen a lot in this album. i think dating an actor has really gotten to her. anyway what a killer way to begin, top notch stuff. how can a song be so fun and so soul crushing at the same time?

cardigan: when did taylor wear black lipstick? this is important to me. an old cardigan is an inherently bisexual article of clothing. that is not an opinion. i read it somewhere today and i believe it. this is the tip of the queer-coding ice berg in folklore, never fear. another reference, “tried to change the ending / peter losing wendy”. this year i wrote a movie script where both peter and wendy were both gay. coincidence? probably. basically this one is classic taylor poetry on every level and it being one of a trio in a larger story makes it that much better. yet again, high school romance is not a universal experience (like for me for instance) but haunting my “what-ifs” is going to haunt me for a long time. and the thought of someone saying i was their favorite cardigan makes me want to scream into a pillow.

the last great american dynasty: my favorite ts songs have always been the ones with detailed characters and stories and this one introduces the trope of the “mad woman” who comes back later on as well a long with many fun character details. at first this song is just cheeky and cute, very visual, a fun world to jump into. but then this particular stretch of lines makes your heart drop into your chest and reminds you why taylor isn’t just always fun and always cute and always creative, she also holds the ability to nimbly sock you in the gut when you least expect: “fifty years is a long time / holiday house sat quietly on that beach / free of women with madness, their men and bad habits / and then it was bought by me.” my jaw is still on the floor. and i’ve never bought a house myself. but i’ve spent numerous christmases having a marvelous time ruining everything (so i’ve been told) so this song still applies to my life.

exile (ft. bon iver): i’m gonna be honest. for as long as i can remember i have strongly disliked bon iver and i never remembered why. it is a matter of principle at this point. i just don’t trust him. but then taylor announced she wrote a song with him which filled me with tremendous anxiety. but i can rest easy. much like “the last time” this song is a ts and male artist collaboration i can get behind. also the film motif again: the only time i’ve left a theatre when i didn’t like a movie was never because movie tickets are so expensive and if i’m shelling out 11 dollars to sit in a chair, i’m staying the whole time no matter how bad the ending. but i probably would have left my sister’s keeper if i had seen it before if i’m being honest. so i get it. thats why i read spoilers for everything i watch before watching it, because the anxiety of worrying about how it ends make me not enjoy it in the first place. the end of this song: the call and response felt… ethereal? i felt like i was watching a broadway musical from the splash zone seats, crying as i was spat on.

my tears ricochet: this song is what i picture stepping outside in the middle of the night when an inch or so of snow has just fallen and i can see the flakes fall in front of a street light sounds like. or the scorned secret ex lover throwing themselves onto the coffin demanding to know why they weren’t enough. which is to say it feels like a sign from some sort of god. yet again, haunting is brought up, an overt reference to the fact that this album will live in my brain rent free for eternity. for some reason this song reminds me of the relationship between hamilton and burr when burr kills hamilton. that could be because i just watched the disney+ recording last week. one lives, one dies, but neither survive, both pay for it. Which is a super romantic and understanding view on murder. both musical experiences equally chilling and moving. if i die under mysterious circumstances this will for sure be played at the funeral.

mirrorball: first off, this is my mom's favorite which is very important. also, it has skewered a very specific but also universal insecurity of mine; existing just to please others and yet miserably failing. it is comforting that ts is not a “natural’ and feels she must always “try try try” because i too lack natural ability, but also rarely “try” even just the one time. the best way i can describe listening to this song is walking through a silent disco where everyone else is listening to some classic lady gaga jam and you are listening to a calming lullaby sung very far away. but don’t let the soothing sounds fool you. it still will have you reflecting on what it means to look and be looked at. a dark rabbit whole, like falling through the looking glass. i’ve never actually read that book though so i could be wrong.

seven: i’m dumb and on my first listen of this song i thought she “hit her peak” at 7 clock as opposed to age seven. but i always saw taylor swift as someone with an early bedtime. also a fun discovery while writing this, “seven” is the 7th song on the track list. clever. although this song is young and innocent and so nostalgic for a time when screaming ferociously was a widely accepted form of expression, it also sounds like a very old secret someone is whispering to me. a love from long ago that lasts beyond the person being in your life, passed down to me and it all just sounds a little gay. not just because of the specific line to hiding in the closet. but that certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. when i was seven i was definitely in love with girls and assumed that was just what friendship was, playing pirates and making plans of running away together.

august: the eighth track for the eighth month. her mind. also my birth month so that’s special. controversial opinion: from what i’ve read most people seem to think illicit affair is the third song in the triage of teen love. i will strongly make the case that it's actually this one. first of all, the subject: a short lived summer fling, which is specifically mentioned later in “betty”. the central heartbreak of this song is liking someone who always belonged to someone else. yes, this song is a window into a different summer, far from pandemic central and the escapist imagery is delightful. but a whole song from the pov of the “other woman” to james and betty is just so much more fun. and there are two more specific lyrics that prove my point. “remember when i pulled up and said "get in the car”” you will see later comes back from the other person’s perspective. and most of all: the repeated line, “meet me behind the mall”? only teenagers make plans to meet up behind a mall. i rest my case. so now we have cardigan and august. two pieces of the puzzle.

this is me trying: i’m glad i now have a succinct message to send to anyone when they ask me what the hell i’m doing at any given moment. this song just sounds like regret and waste in the most self-assured and confident way. this is “back to december” with the training wheels off. i have no apologies for my efforts at wasting all my potential. but in this song, taylor has opened her arms to me in a warm embrace and has forgiven me for all i’ve done wrong and reminds me to not take for granted the “try”. okay mom. i’m crying again, but okay.

illicit affair: this is the kind of thing that makes you feel sixteen, living in a dull suburb, while secretly screwing your 38 year old married neighbor who’s rich but wants to be an artiste. aka like a character in euphoria or something. it’s sexy and dangerous until you think about it and then it's just dingy and creepy. but this song starts and stays beautiful. most importantly, this song is too sad and depressing frankly, to be a part of the trilogy. we could never forgive james for leaving such a mess and making her a fool. you don’t want to be this girl. you want to walk up to her and shake her and yell “you exist and will not be ruined by any dumb man”. and that’s feminism.

invisible string: is it reductive if i say this one’s about joe? all my non-stan friends have asked me which ones are about him. we forgive them and point them in this direction. because it is lovely and beautiful that we are all tied to our soulmate for our whole lives before we ever meet them (because that would in fact mean that there is someone out there for everyone which might be naive or dumb but i am both of those things and whats the point of living if you don’t believe in the power of love). this honestly gives me “begin again” vibes in the best way. it’s red-era level with the wisdom of lover-era tay. sublime.

mad woman: the second mention of the “mad woman” as both taylor herself and the character in the story. as usual, tay stays calling out double standards and the manipulation of women into “going crazy” for expressing reasonable anger. I, personally, wish i could say “fuck you forever” without someone saying i’m “overreacting”. this is my least favorite song on the album and i’d still listen to it three times in a row and need to resist the urge to set a man’s lawn on fire. just girly things.

epiphany: i know she said this one is about her grandfather’s experience in the military but all i imagine is a slow montage of harry style’s character in “dunkirk” on the beach. and it’s beautiful. and much like my sophomore in high school self reading “all quiet on the western front” it evokes a pain from deep inside me that engulfs a loss i could never describe and a sadness too awful to witness. you will listen to this song and feel absolutely powerless to the will of the universe and it’s cruelty. and the faint but steady heart monitor beep in the background… i’ve never seen “grey’s anatomy” but i can imagine why it has so many fans sobbing. and let me end on this: two soldiers in some old war (meaning both men based on dunkirk) watching each other like this and living and dying together…gay.

betty: the first verse was pulled directly out of my subconscious fantasy of being in love in high school and it being so wonderful and painful and dramatic. and taylor riding a skateboard… is a mood. the song has been out for less than a week and it’s already a cold take to talk about how this is her gayest song to date (close runner-ups being reputation’s “dress” and “cardigan”). but of course i will still talk about it. the lyrics embody such authentic awkward gay energy (see the lesbian in booksmart for reference) and having been a 17 year old only three years ago, i can say with reasonably good authority that no 17 year old straight boy could stand in front of a crowd of peers and beg forgiveness from a girl he hurt. it’s just not realistic. these are all awkward, over-dramatic, young girls stumbling through love. and it’s awesome. james is the speaker of this song, and the subject of “august”, the summer fling that was never truly there due to james’ love for betty, the titular role of this song. thus completing the love triangle. and there are so many obvious references in this song to both “august” and “cardigan”. rhyming cardigan with car again makes me want to light myself on fire in the best way. i love it. “i dreamt of you all summer long” is the final nail in the coffin for the girl in “august” who was clearly just a place-holder. totally separate from taylor swift, my favorite word is porch. so the amount of times it appears in her lyrics is wonderful. say it out loud. it just feels nice. anyway, this song makes me want to be young and dumb and in love. the second can really only be tolerated because of the first and third. i hope the story has a happy-ending. if james were a boy i’d wish him the plague.

peace: the coming-of-age movie starring james and betty (and inez) is over. we have come to “the age” i guess. there’s a thought that’s gonna fester. if this song was just the line, “would it be enough if i could never give you peace?” over and over for four minutes it would still smash me to pulp and fill my body with helium gas. i can and will cause a car wreck when this comes on the aux. if this song is what being grown up is like (bare in mind grown up to me is like, 30) then i’m ready to be done coming of age. because i already worry if i’ll be at all enough for anyone and way too much for someone at the same time. but like all good poetry, this song isn’t about what it “means”, but how it “feels”. and this is new york city, the summer, pouring rain, a long walk home, desperately fearing and hoping they are there waiting for you.

hoax: a one-sided conversation between me and my stubborn clinical depression. i too, constantly stand alone on the cliff demanding a reason. one has not yet been presented. it operates both within and and against me. i could be bigger and stronger than it. but instead i tend to it like a prickly plant. (“no other sadness in the world will do”). there is nothing both sadder and funnier then the scene in “avatar: the last airbender” when prince zuko stands alone on a cliff screaming at the sky for lightning to strike him. i don’t know why this song reminds me so much of that. what a way to end such an emotional rollercoaster. it is so emotionally draining that it simply forces me to start folklore again from the top and listen to it all over again. or take a long therapeutic nap.

there are no skips. and it will still surprise you on your 267th listen. proceed with caution.

i knew you, in a past life maybe. i have not met you yet, but folklore has made me believe you exist.
