Mr Spock, notoriously sentimental bag of mush

The more I look and analyse Burned Bridges the more I realise it’s like. A really fascinating car crash. A flaming disaster. Y’know. But you also can’t look away from it cause there’s so much you can unpack from it and it makes it so so fascinating.
The two are similar in a way where they’re both very resilient to change. Y’know. Cold barely changes at all in all of the routes while Smitten is usually blind in his own beliefs, and is steadfast in his loyalty towards the Princess. Ideally they would be paired up with another character who is less resilient to change that would make the dynamic a bit more balanced, y’know. Like Cold with Contrarian and Stubborn with Smitten or something.
Not saying that they can’t change at all, just saying that they are like. Really really resistant towards it. They would need like a gigantic push for them to get out of their comfort zone. Which is why I think they should have like. A couple of mental breakdowns. As a treat :)) (joking joking)
(Edited to have this cause I have a stupid idea. Ignore this)

Actually thinking more about Reiju's only sin being a woman and... Going into more depth, I know that logically/canonically she's smart and empathetic enough to not want to be in her brothers' place. She doesn't want to be an heir/ successor or follow the family's footsteps at all. She knows they're bad. She sees herself as such, too, unable to change/be different like Sanji was. She doesn't think she can bring her mother's kindness to this world the way Sanji does, so she sticks to what she knows, whether it is to protect Sanji too or to accept her fate.
BUT (and bear with me for a second here, I know I have been watching too much Succession lately) we also do know that during her childhood she didn't do anything to help Sanji from the abuse. She watched it happen because that was the way things went there and because she knew what would happen to her if she did. Of course, she ends up helping him escape and taking care of him but-- I'm just thinking, for a tiny little moment, about how she's actually the oldest.
She should be the heir. She should be the person everybody views Ichiji as. She should be considered the most responsible. The smartest. The strongest one. The one who should take the throne. And she doesn't even want it now, but what about back then? What about when she did have some little, tiny faith/hopes for her family and what they did? She sought approval and naively thought "my father is going to offer me the place I rightfully deserve, right?" blindly seeking acceptance like all of them did.
But no, because she might be the oldest but Ichiji is a man. She might be the strongest, the smartest, the most reliable... But she is not a man. And I believe there must have been a time when she expected her destiny to be something more, and once she realized she was just a woman in their eyes... Well, we know what happened.
I just keep finding similarities between The Vinsmokes (OP) and The Roys (Succession) and perhaps my headcanon of Reiju being similar to Shiv has gone a bit too far. But the scene where Shiv is like "This is real?" when Logan promises she'll be the CEO and he goes "This is real. Remember this. The slant of light" for it to be a lie later is something I fear could have happened with Reiju and Judge if Oda had given us more content,,,,

the training montage in crossroads re-ignited a headcanon i had of geralt waking up and doing gymnastics, performing kickflips and mid-air spins around on a fencepost outside an hour before sunrise to ‘limber up,’ and bleary-eyed dandelion wrapping himself up in a blanket to be like "heyyy... what the hell are you doing 💖"
#if you're wondering what kind of moves he's doing he's standing on a fencepost and doing your typical flexibility stretches#but alternating between reps of stretches with kickflips from one post to the other#like ciri training in kaer morhen#i'm not going to lie witchers are cool but fandom ruined them a bit for me and now crossroads has given me that childlike wonder back#because fandom heard 'physical ability and stamina' and did you know what with it#but the agility and precision of witchers remain so underrated. as part of the deconstruction of the superhuman trope#geralt doesnt really show off as much in the books and does cool stuff only when needed but#like when (mentioned) he hit the rat in the darkness with his thrown fork... as a party trick#and killing renfri's men in the market at blaviken... and killing the scoia'tael on thanedd#and RUNNING ALONG THE BRIDGE on the battle of the bridge#and the nilfgaardians were amazed and they WERE AMAZED AS THEY DIED!!!!!!!!#and killing rience's mercenaries who didn't know who they were fighting so they were like hey what the fuck... what the fuck#i'm literally back to witcher 101 basics here. nothing interesting to contribute but like a little boy i am just smiling and saying#'dude geralt of rivia is soooo cool he can like fight a bunch of guys with his sword'#half of me wants to seek deeper themes and half of me is just like YOOO GERALT SO COOL !!#listen... there is a time to plant a time to reap#a time to analyze and a time to geek#i should probably just watch a bunch of ballet or best of gymnastics comps and i'll find what i'm looking for#also sorry CROSSROADS OF RAVENS SPOILERS artamon dying was a hilarious moment i know it was like oooh this will have consequences#but it was nice to have the evil antagonist get merked in the sme chapter as he's fucking introduced#and not even by mature experienced geralt but by some literal eighteen year-old who he tried pulling a fast one on#1) i was happy that sapkowski didn't drag it out terribly. this was humorous and refreshing after in season of storms#2) geralt almost riding off but having a feeling to go back... listen i know it's so cliche and it's giving lady of the lake chapter 4#where he eavesdrops in the caves under castle zubarran and just happens to hear stefan skellen reveal that vilgefortz was in castle stygga#but it also was satisfying to me because after reading the hussite trilogy#where reynevan (stupid and young man; like geralt here) DOES NOT LEARN after several. SEVERAL lessons#i was honestly worried for a second that we were going to get a reynevan moment. but no. because this is geralt and not reynevan#and seeing geralt develop critical thinking skills in real time was not only satisfying but a bit funny#and yes nostalgiabaiting me#like omggggg yesss his detective skills yesss that's so geralt of him

idk if there actually already someone made this fic or not, but switch fate AU is kinda a common thing for Team 7 Minato. Right?
Instead Obito, Kakashi was the one who get the boulder. Then Kakashi join the Akatsuki or something like that
Instead of Kakashi who is the last member of Team 7 Minato are alive, Obito is the last member Team 7 Minato that alive.
Rin, I know her fate. Mostly she died in Kannabi Bridge.
Minato and Kushina sadly still die, but eh that's not the point.
So, what if, kakashi still was the one who get the boulder who eventually getting saved by Madara, Obito and Rin are alive for some month before the Kannabi Bridge incident. Instead of Rin, Obito was the one who was captured and become the Sanbi Jinchuriki who sadly died in the hands of Rin.

Talk about rewatch value. The amount of silent storytelling in 73 Yards has me going nuts.
The Birthday/Christmas cards. Steadily getting fewer and fewer as she loses more and more people over time.

✄ DVD BONUS: pick a fic and I’ll describe or write a deleted scene!
Bridges please foodsies 😬🫶
I had to go and think about what deleted scene I could use because I often reuse deleted scenes later in the story. However, this scene here got deleted for continuity reasons. It's a scene where Alec finds Askel having a fight with his father and his mother. The scene got switched out for the discussion between Alec and Askel after they watched Tangled.
The initial plan was to have them talk about parents and have Alec realize that some of the things his parents did and demand from him aren't okay, but it didn't work out that way so I deleted it and replaced it with the Tangled one.
It's not unheard of to meet people while walking through the twisting halls of the Spiral Labyrinth, but it is rare. Alec doesn't know if it's the same everywhere, or whether the downworlders are trying to avoid him, but the halls are usually deserted when he's around.
Even when they're not, the halls are quiet. Silent. The only sounds are the soft buzz of magic and the echo of footsteps that aren't his. Occasionally, the laugh of a child or the whispers of people talking.
Not the loud bellows of people screaming.
"-kin kiittämätön kakara!" (-ou ungrateful brat)
Alec frowns at the insult, worry tensing his shoulder. Even knowing he doesn't have his runes or his weapons, he slowly makes his way over to the yelling because that - that sounds like an adult screaming at someone younger than them.
"-näyttäytyä täällä-" (-show your face-)
Alec's only hearing bits of the conversation, small parts that break through the angry tirade echoing down the halls. Yet, they're enough for him to create an image.
And Alec doesn't like what he's seeing.
Without meaning to, Alec picks up the pace, running in the direction of the screaming, only to stumble to a halt when he registers the scene in front of him.
Askel is sitting on the ground, a bruise on his cheek, while a man who looks like an older version of him is screaming.
Alec sees the man take a threatening step forward, insults and reproaches still falling from his lips, and reacts before he realizes what he's doing.
One second, the man is getting closer to Askel.
The next, Alec has him in a shoulder lock with his knees on the floor..
"Askel, are you okay?" he asks, startling the werewolf out of his daze.
"Alec? What are -"
"I heard screaming," Alec says, he tightens his grip when Askel's dad regains his bearings and tries to fight him. "Wanted to make sure everything was okay."
"Let go of me," Askel's dad growls in broken English, his eyes glow green, and hair starts to cover his arms. "I will-"
Alec pushes him away, using enough force to make him go stumbling into the woman and the three other people watching. Watching but not helping.
He doesn't move when the man makes a threatening step toward him. He simply narrows his eyes, changing his stance in preparation for an attack. "Try," he taunts.
The man isn't much bigger than Askel; he's nowhere near Dmitri's size. He also doesn't have the reflexes Astrid or the twins have, or he would have reacted before Alec had him on his knees.
"Joona-" the woman speaks up, placing a placating hand on his shoulder, "jätetään se tähän. Emme halua aiheuttaa kohtausta." (Joona, let's leave it here. We don't want to cause a scene.)
Alec doesn't bother to disguise his snort. He's pretty sure her husband caused a scene when he decided to punch his son in broad daylight. "Pretty sure it's too late for that," he snarks, ignoring the glowers it earns him from the other three werewolves.
"Alec, it's okay," Askel says. He's finally moving again, something strained and vulnerable in his expression, "Let's just get back to the pack. Sven'll have to wait a couple more days before he can read that book he wanted."
He grabs Alec's wrist and pulls him along, turning his and Alec's backs to the rest of the werewolves.
Alec buries the urge to pull back and keep them in his sight.
Askel's face is stone-hard. An icy mask that is nothing like the usually smiling werewolf that seems to appear everywhere and all the time. He's silent and tense, taut as a bow while he drags Alec down three wrong halls and through a fourth.
Alec can't help but be reminded of Jace.
He grows even tenser when a pair of footsteps comes running after them.
It's the woman from earlier.
"Ask-"
"What do you want, mom?" Askel asks in English. He turns around to give the woman a tired, betrayed look. "You shouldn't be here."
His mother flicks her eyes over to Alec, her gaze cautious and apprehensive, "You," she swallows, "Tiedät, että-" (You know that-)
"Oh, shut up!" Askel bursts out, still speaking in English. Alec doesn't know whether he's doing it for Alec's sake or for his own, an unconscious attempt to create distance between him and his mother. "You know dad means well, you know dad means well - You know dad beating the shit of me is why your pack got kicked out of the fields!"
"Ask-"
"Just leave and let it go. It's the only thing you've ever been good at."
Askel tugs on Alec's arm again, pulling him forward and leaving his mother behind. Alec thinks he can see unshed tears in her eyes, an outstretched arm frozen in the air as they walk away from her.
He can't bring himself to feel sorry for her.
"Sorry you had to see that," Askel apologizes after another few minutes of walking down the wrong hallways and getting even more lost. "I didn't expect to run into them."
"So those were-"
"My parents, yeah. My old pack, really," Askel huffs out a strained laugh, "Word of advice, never join the Lieto pack, their alpha is a dick."
For anyone else who also wants to play!
Or the part two

I am kind of so in love with what seems to be Gwen reciting a statement like a litany to summon an antagonistic archivist?? Like idk which option is better to me, if the bad!archivist was simply tailing Gwen and compelled her statement there to get like, supernatural right of way, or if Gwen actively summoned the bad!archivist *by* saying her own statement!
Either way i'm loving the odd religiosity of that scene, the recitation of a personal statement acting as a Literal Hail Mary... ough.

Edge of midnight is so good because it’s like. The little things. One moment i think about in particular is,
(spoilers for Episode 6 and a little bit of 5).
When Marius recounts his dream not ONCE does he ever mention the fact that the ‘undead’ he was killing was specifically vampires nor does he mention the fire (if Im remembering correctly.) Despite his justification for this dream there is still this sense of shame if you will. Its so so good
