Is this about me personally? Yes, I agree that topics that are repetitive start to feel like an attack.

But with regards to AO3 stats, this is my pet peeve, as you probably know if you read here often, and I'm unlikely to stop being angry about it.

AO3 is extremely unusual in the history of fandom for being a very big, very multifandom site that is not m/m-specific but where m/m outnumbers other things. There have been large-ish slash archives before. There have been and still are other large, multifandom archives, from FFN and Wattpad, which are in AO3's weight class, to medium size ones like MediaMiner. The spaces that aren't m/m-specific generally have f/m vastly outnumbering m/m. They also make it harder to get stats than AO3 does.

I don't have an issue with people looking at overall fandom stats and complaining that f/f has the short end of the stick when it comes to fanfic broadly. I do object to people pulling only AO3 stats and going "The one anomalous clubhouse that looks like this is the problem" and pointing at m/m.

It's the same problem you point out, just in another direction. After being told "Okay, but the amount of m/m..." constantly for years, people are fed up and never want to hear it again. Even if it's phrased nicely. Even if the person saying it is also hurting.

two different works that annoyed me: Emily Hamilton's The Stars Too Fondly. my first clue should have been that this is my least favorite poem, bc ppl would quote it to me smugly after my mom died. im sure they thought they were being so super comforting to a budding astronomer, but, much like how i can no longer eat lasagna bc ppl gave us Twenty! Party! Size! Platters! Of! Lasagna! after my mom died (they would just Appear on our front porch, frozen), too much of this poem really soured me.

i had this book on hold Forever and then delayed delivery twice bc i have not felt like reading lately. here's the publisher's description:

should be catnip for me, right? wrong. starts out as a chat fic, which i hate.

i had a lot of trouble finishing the first chapter, which also has an extended third-person omniscient narrator flashback in italics, a thing i also hate. i KNOW you can figure out how to integrate this information into the book in a better way instead of dumping it in my lap.

i think part of why this is not hitting like i wanted is the tone, because i think this veers more new adult than i was really hoping for. i think introducing a big group all at once is very hard to do effectively. i do not like a series of character introductions that feel like they are trying to sell me action figures. or perhaps blind-bag figures. i do not like a six-deep list of cheesy puns about someone's name. i do not have the patience to see if this debut novel finds its footing a little later on, though i am glad a sapphic ghost in the machine romance exists in this world.

i also read dean motter's mister x (both the original late eighties through early nineties run and the 2008 follow-on).

the Concept of mister x, this horrible awful futuristic city that grinds its citizenry up and spits them out? both figuratively and sometimes literally? love it!!! love a great wounded beast of a city as a character!!!

unforch the "who is mister x" subplot does not resolve in a satisfying way, imo. there's a lot of flip-flopping, there's a lot of options, he ends up being (maybe?) someone he was very definitively proven NOT to be in an earlier issue, and it really soured me on the whole experience. and also i don't believe it! that specific person makes no fucking sense! who mister x is, is by far the least interesting part of the series. tell me more about how he's fixing the city. show me more of the city. shut up and dance, robot artists

Singer). this movie did not need to be two and a half hours long. appreciated the EXTREMELY divorced energy from charles & erik though, quicksilver rescuing the school scene was also very fun. my bestie's husband has informed me we are NOT watching Dark Phoenix, i'm not sure if we're going to loop back and watch the ??? number of wolverine films or if we're going to see how i feel about deadpool. bc i find this character insufferable through clips only.

How do you feel about the two big neuvi juggernauts rn, neuvifuri and wrioneuvi

tbh i'm ambivalent about both of these. im simply a dragon protection unit advocating against mistreatment.... bc for some reason ppl ooc neuvi in two wildly different directions to fit into heteronormativity stereotypes for these two ships. like with rizzley they feminize him drastically, and on the other side with furina they make like stoic uber masculine idk hot math teacher stereotype. both are super annoying tbh. let the poor dragon be, magic evolution already yassified him into french man in reincarnation, has he not suffered enough. stop gendering him so badly, hes not even human, hes a lizard.

with furina im also quite peeved how ppl will try to pretend that they loved each other for all these years (no they didn't), how furina was the one who made him love humanity (no she did not categorically), etc etc. bc i think they have very complicated relationship due to power dynamics of archon\ dragon whose power was stolen by this archon, and trying to erase it make them much less interesting. like furina straight up shut down every their argument in archon quests by going "i'm an archon, you should do as i say bc i'm the god". which she probably didn't know has vastly different implications for the dragon sovereign who sees her as false god, ruling with his power. of course now that she knows, she thinks he hates her, just as she said in her story quest. there is an interesting tension there that i think could be fun to explore bc yeah, they also have 500 years of history. they barely talked, but she knows where he would like to be at this time of day, that kind of familiarity. but i think if you wanna see their relationship explored, esp in romantic sense, you gotta start from right now, from the awkwardness and complications, instead of pretending they are already end game in love.

with rizzwolfsley i remember i saw one post that said that its like fleabag vibes, like they know they can't be together bc of Duty, and i can see it tbh, like rizzley is v feabag to me with his trauma that he pretends hes fine with, but obv a bleeding wound in his back, with sarcastic facade keeping ppl from looking too close, the nonchalant attitude covering painful tension. and as he grew up with this dagger in his back literally in prison, around petty human vices and learned to shield in irony-poisoned attitude, i can see him being drawn to neuvi, steadfast, incorruptible, powerful, but never using it for selfish reasons, fresh clear water in the midst of dark muddy swamp, larger than life, inhuman in his mercy. i can see it, the little wow, it works. the bittersweetness of yearning, awkward stolen moments, it has potential

It just kinda feels like they are trying wayyy too hard to be different, its ok, you can like the canon/popular ships they are popular for a reason. I think the concept behind Grizz is solid: a Former Bear who inadvertently Ship Of Theseus'd himself into Not Being A Bear Anymore ties neatly into the running theme of Judd and Lil Judd being the Only Mammals left: Mr. Grizz, whatever he is now, no longer counts as a mammal. But in execution... Yeah. They should have focused on the "Ship Of Theseus angle" and the fact that, in his attempts to bring back mammals, he's become more like the organisms that he's trying to destroy.

Ive gotten about a good few dozen comments on YT about this exact thing. but half of them being annoyingly condescending in the process for not bringing up this analysis in my Live (keyword live) reaction of me hating on the bear. i dont think ive really addressed how i feel about this particular thing because of how rude ppl were, but its been a while and youre being nice so long post incoming Anyway yes im very much aware of this 'ship of Theseus angle to grizz, I did see that "in defense of grizz" video. And honestly I do agree it is something about him that has interesting potential if they'd leaned into it more. Much of my distaste with the ending of ROTM is the build up and execution. They made the bear foreshadowing laughably obvious years too early, and then all the poor fools like me who care too much about splatoon's story had faith that "surely the splatoon team, who just made a story as surprising and serious as Octo Expansion, wouldn't handle foreshadowing the identity of their next major villain that badly" took the biggest L. IF the splatoon team had been more blatant that the Judds were the last mammals left throughout the series (the only time it was directly stated that all mammals were extinct before ROTM? in a dev interview. and for years nobody wanted to believe it whenever i tried bringing it up lmao.) if they weren't that on the nose about the bear imagery. if the only solid piece of deception they had about Grizz not being a bear in the entirety of splatoon canon wasn't in a paid artbook... if they were more deceptive about the fact, I'm sure i wouldve been a bit more accepting of the idea of him secretly being a bear from earlier on, and it would've been a cooler reveal. But surface level knowledge should be called into question by looking at the deeper evidence, not the other way around.

The ineffectiveness of the bear reveal is a culmination of Splatoon doing a frankly, bad job at putting whats supposed to be basic, important, worldbuilding knowledge in the game. I think the intended effect of the bear reveal was that the general audience of fans were supposed to have been like "woah, but all mammals are supposed to be all dead holy shit i cant believe hes a bear." and that info was supposed to put a wedge in the bear theories. but when 95% of the player-base anticipating splatoon 3 had no idea that all mammals (except the judds) are supposed to be extinct in the splatoon world and how that's an important part of its worldbuilding up until the announcement of the story mode, if at all...idk man thats pretty bad.

The way the info about mammal extinction was worded in the official news posts sounds like it was supposed to be common knowledge for Splatoon fans, not a surprise like it ended up being.

Anyway back to the execution, it would've been cooler if they'd leaned into that horror element, the fact that he's hardly even a mammal anymore. I think the implication is there. It is cool and fucked up in Splatoon's signature way! But again, I agree it would be better if it was played up or even acknowledged once directly, like in log.exe. Even with all the potential for bear Mr. Grizz to be cool, the years of too-blatant foreshadowing leading to a frustratingly disappointing reveal and the exact annoying plot holes i feared of has permanently soured the concept of him being a bear to me.

Right?? I don’t get it fr. Shipping Light with Misa specifically is like.. LMFAO I CANTTTT he literally hates her so much but it isn’t even that he hates her, he actively avoids all sorts of intimacy with her and when he Does do something, he only does so to continue using her as a pawn. I mean, the only reason he even kept her alive was bc he didn’t have a choice in the first place bc of Rem. And like, his avoidance and internal rejection of her and other women isn’t even a “Kira” thing, bc he still did so when he was memoryless and we also know he avoided dating girls pre death note/Kira persona bc he said he was “waiting until college” etc. So there’s a clear canonical pattern of Light avoiding romantic relationships with women. Which on its own would be like ok whatever, but at the same time there is a clear pattern of an active interest in male characters even when they are equal to the female characters such as Takada vs Mikami. There’s also the fact he shows no discomfort whenever L touches him specifically during Yotsuba arc, and also the fact that in the manga he asked one of his friends to send him a holiday card to which his friend replied “I only send them to girls” which is essentially stating this is a romantic gesture and Light did just ask for it.

I mean, I could go on and on but there is quite a lot of gay coding going on in the manga and then of course in the anime and subsequent DN adaptations (minus the Netflix movie that we shall pretend doesn’t exist)

I don’t rlly get the hatred toward Lawlight tbh? It’s pretty weird, because their relationship is like… 90% of the appeal of Death Note imo. But to each their own I suppose. Personally, I just think there is a lot of canonical justification and intentional gay coding/subtext to warrant it.

And yeah I know about the kataang stuff. It’s weird for me too. See Lawlight is my OTP hands down. Kataang is a strong second contender. I love both pairings about the same but in very different ways. It’s funny because they’re very drastically different pairings of course, but that also is the stories themselves and the narratives.

Kataang is about the most wholesome ship you could ship meanwhile Lawlight is inherently fucked up butttttttttt Death Note itself is a fairly mature story dealing with inherently fucked up subject matter and characters so there’s rlly no avoiding that.

I don’t rlly care what someone thinks of my ship preferences, the only thing that annoys me is antis who misrepresent canon like with Kataang or antis with Lawlight who basically say we’re bad ppl for shipping it. As for who I ship Zuko with: I do ship Maiko though I’ll say I’m not hugely invested in the pairing. I don’t have much to say on it other than I enjoy their scenes in the show and I think they are a nice couple. I don’t care for Zuko and Sokka, I think it’s kind of in that same category as zvtara and I don’t care for that ship at all.

I actually ship Zuko with Aang lol. Like Zuko and Aang when they’re older, I can get behind zukaang 100% in part because they are like that kindred spirit thing similar to lawlight to me. I really enjoy that aspect of their relationship and I again think canonically, zukaang would be plausible if it weren’t for maiko and kataang.

*I want jinx to have her own arc and I mean an arc where she develops her own goal and motivations outside other characters too and maybe this goal will be to love evil till the day she dies, ill take it!! I just think seeing jinx grow outside that child/flighty troublemaker into a full on villain/terrorist will be fantastic and will also give her actual league lore another layer that hopefullyyyy they can continue to build on (and they will never stop banking on jinx like that's basically leagues mascot)

Hello Transformers fans! As you can see the title, this is my first post on Tumblr. So today I'll be talking about Transformers...Transformers 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦 to be exact. And this is about a certain ship...a popular one.... So ever since I rewatched TFP and found out that fanfictions exists, like character x reader and blah blah blah, I noticed something and I was like...ok nice, until I saw it all over the internet. Wattpad, DeviantArt, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Tumblr, YouTube, and more...let's say I got a bit...annoyed. And I'm talking about a certain ship, the Knockout and Breakdown ship. The 'popular' ship that has been going around, and I keep seeing it on my fyp. This '𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱' all ppl would call has made me disgusted. AF. I heard that there's some kind of comic where Knockout and Breakdown are 'married', and people saying that its '𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘯', pissed me off. I've seen WAYYY too many stuff like that. Because first of all, Knockout is the Decepticon medic (as you all should obviously know, for those of you who watched TFP) and breakdown is his assistance. Those two are just friends, literally just friends. And idk why tf you people ship these two. Like, imagine getting shipped with 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 friend/buddy or assistant or whatever. But I have a question, 𝘞𝘏𝘖 even MADE that comic? With Knockout and Breakdown being married and stuff? First of all they're Cybertronians, and they could be asexual. For those of you who watched Transformers Prime, there's that one episode in season 3 ep 7 (Plus One), where Knockout says. "Frankly, I find it 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦. The whole idea of you fleshies...𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨". Now I'm not sure but I think 'interfacing' means....'sex' in the Cybertronian terms (correct me if I'm wrong). And I've seen some...Knockout and Breakdown fanarts that...have NSFW...and boy I was 𝘖𝘉𝘝𝘐𝘖𝘜𝘚𝘓𝘠 𝘿𝙄𝙎𝙂𝙐𝙎𝙏𝙀𝘿. 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗗. 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗪𝗧𝗙. First of all they're 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗦 for Primus's sake. Second of all they are 𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘌, and what makes you think that males would do...𝘛𝘏𝘈𝘛?! They don't have a vagina! And third of all, they are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 together, idgaf what you people say, claiming that its 'cannon'. Wtf? And I believe that all Cybertronians 𝘢𝘳𝘦 asexual. And I've seen something like a character in RID named 'Wildbreak' is KO and BD's 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥?! 𝗪𝗧𝗙?! 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗣. Now the reason why I freaking 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘 this 'ship' so much is that I am a huge ass simp for Knockout and Breakdown's in the way. I don't understand, what makes you fans think that this 'ship' is cute? I don't understand why I hate things society loves, and they hate what I love? For example, I hate dogs (sorry dog lovers), and yet they are the most popular pets. I love horses...but not many people love them that much. This is why I hate people. This is why I hate the society and everything. This world is so messed up. Now idc what people say about me hating on this ship,(maybe I do cre cuz I want to STOP this ship) I don't ship any TFP character with anyone, and neither do my friends. My friends recently watched TFP and if they find out about this Knockout and Breakdown 'ship', they're gonna be 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳. KO and BD and 𝗡𝗢𝗧 together in 𝘛𝘏𝘈𝘛 way in the show, and whoever made that IDW comic is an idiot (I would have given a worse insult, but I chose not to). 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬. 𝗔𝗥𝗘. 𝗡𝗢𝗧. 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗡. Only friends, and that's it. And plus, poor Breakdown died thanks to that ugly Airachnid. Oh and, another reason why I hate this ship is because I love Knockout, but I hate Breakdown. And that IS actually messed up (sorry BD lovers). So I guess that's it for today. I hope I'm not the only Knockout x Breakdown ship hater. Haters will hate. Deal with it 😐. Have a good day people.

but i do dislike ppl who hate joshua, is he immature? yea, can he be annoying? yea, BUT THEY NEVER DISLIKE HIM NORMALLY YKNOW??? you either like him or you hate him with all your being and i think thats unfair, like is he THAT bad?? cus i never found him annoying, tbh i found him super relatable, he's just kind of immature and overdramatic, but there are much worse characters?? like i see more joshua hate than elijah. like ppl hate hearing joshua or want to beat him yet they dont want to do that with elijah?? maybe im just generalizing but its sad to see :(

on the topic of elijah, i actually really like his WRITING.... whenever i say i like elijah i mean how he's written, he's pretty realistic, the antagonists writing in chnt is great, i love the way they act and talk, like up and adam is very cool and i look forward to seeing a lot more of him!! and elijah is very well written and ryan did a very good job with the voice acting and the way elijah speaks GOD. its great, like he's GAHAHFDJFDSHD i love elijah's writing so dearly, and i feel people water him down, like he's a horrible disgusting person. like he's rlly bad and IN MY HONEST OPINION he shouldn't be shipped with ANYONE. because he is that toxic, he has terrible mood swings (and i dont mean to villinize that, but in his case, its not a good trait to have when dating.) and he's obsessive and he's a literal stalker and manipulator and he quite literally dehuminized sydney, he didnt see sydney as a person with feelings, he saw him as something to worship, and who said he wont do that to anyone else??? like yes he would be that way with joshua and up and adam and literally anyone, because he's not mentally well.

Y'know its interesting to me the topic of Sampo mischaracterization. 1. Because I don't think its always the right word persay? Like when people emphasize him being a greedy guy and ignore his morals like YES HE IS GREEDY ASF, but he DOES have morals. So idk if mischaracterizing fully fits when its not just ppl misinterpreting/adding random characteristics but rather just...kinda over emphasizing one/a few and ignoring others yknow? But 2. A lot of it (i'd so most of it from non Sampo fans) arises from them falling for his facade.

Like the takes that he's stupid or a himbo have mostly stopped, but tbh they never angered/annoyed me the way most mischaracterization does because I found it a little funny the people doing it clearly jut fell for his lie. Like that makes me chuckle. The mischaracterization that does bug me though is like from fellow Sampo fans who just change his personality randomly? Like anytime I see Sampo written/drawn as like 'easily flustered' 'timid' etc, smth abt it irks me. HES FLIRTY. HE IS A FLIRTY MAN. He would not be timid about that. OR WHEN PPL TRY TO ACT LIKE HE DOESN'T LOVE MONEY OR ISNT GREEDY. No he is greedy, its why I love my criminal bastard man <3

The one I hate the most though is when he gets turned into some super loyal like house husband type. No, no he wouldn't. hot take no one asked for: atyd is way too canon compliant for the marauders fandom

ok first of all i'd like to clear up some things. i know many people love it, it's a very very important part of the marauders fandom and it's very well written. no hate to enjoyers OR mskingbean89 (whom i respect very much, thank u). the wolfstar is definitely GOLDEN and the jily is adorable. this is a very personal view that i have been thinking about, and felt like sharing. also note that i dropped the fic and only got up till, like, fifth or sixth year

there are multiple things which id like to list from the fic that makes me not like it very much as a person with a lot of marauders hcs that are very much not canon compliant, and that feel like the author is writing from a very 'just entered the fandom cuz of wolfstar lol' understanding. again, absolutely NO hate intended, and ik the writing does NOT indicate how much the person understands about the fandom. also, understanding doesn't matter!! everyone who's part of the fandom is part of the fandom, and that's that.

keep in mind that these are things that I PERSONALLY hc. nothing is canon here in the marauders era fandom and if it is, it smells terrible and as such, everyone will have different ideas

also, while i'm at it, i'd like to compliment some things rq. remus portrayal and character development - PEAK. beautifully written. explanation and portrayal of mary (who's character i didn't really understand before reading atyd) - AMAZING. the relationship between the black brothers also made me cry (THE LETTER SCENE?!?!?! YALL KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABT). also grant is my bbg

hufflepuff dorcas (who also dated pete???) (i hc her to be slytherin and also part of the skittles)

no dorlene (a ship that's basically slightly less popular lesbian wolfstar in terms of how many ppl add dorlene to their stories (a lot))

shy marlene (whereas marlene is usually depicted as very bombastic and explosive and also very much gay). actually i liked this portrayal of marlene which was very well written and also adorable but... idk i don't see marlene as a shy girl

no evan rosier/pandora rosier/(slytherin) dorcas? only barty and regulus (so basically, no slytherin skittles/royal court/pantheon)

on that note, obviously-mean reg? (as in, instead of quietly sneering at people like many of us hc him, he outright shames ppl for being gay) (also i didn't mention barty cuz we all know barty's a little shit)

very toxic sirius (who ignored reg just bc he was sorted into slytherin, who fwb with remus and acted like it was normal and straight (guys fwb w a guy as a giy id bery much not straight), who didn't do much but fuck girls and cheat on them, who was outwardly jealous and mean to christopher, who acted weird and badmouthed grant after learning he and rem used to be tgt)

sirius hating pete (although this makes sense and is a common viewpoint of the harry potter fandom especially that pete is annoying or unlikeable, it feels rly rly cruel and makes sirius even more unlikeable imo cuz WHAT did bbg do to u he's js a kid he hasn't killed no one yet?)

all of these points show that mskingbean89 doesn't seem to pay much attention to characters (or more specifically, the fanon interpretations of characters) other than wolfstar and jily. many of these are key hcs that can be found in 75% of marauders content at least (example, dorlene) and the hcs they have seem straight out of hp (the books). ONE MORE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE BACK: THERE IS NO ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH THIS. i just personally don't see much of the content i love of the marauders characters (although ik that isn't the point of atyd, as it is wolfstar-centric)

hello! yes! i'll be honest talking about things like this always make me a little nervous, and i feel obligated to preface anything i say with a disclaimer that none of it really matters, nothing i say matters, and you should do what you like, because--who cares. i am not an authority on--anything, frankly. my opinion holds no more weight than the next guy's, and all i'm doing here is giving it, so. essentially what im saying is--people are perfectly entitled to disagree with me, but people are not entitled to be mean to me about it xx

having said that. it is my personal opinion that s x barty is one of the worst fucking things i have ever heard lol. who even is barty who is that guy. why would s be interested in him at all. i do not understand it it does not make sense to me. from where are we sourcing the character traits and personality that we are giving barty that would ever endear sirius to him, because it objectively cannot be canon.

overall i do not get the new interest in barty + evan + pandora (+ regulus, but we won't go there)...at all, other than guessing that people were bored with the marauders and wanted a new version of them (and new celebrities to fancast) while simultaneously changing next to nothing about them other than superimposing them onto the first slytherin side characters they could rustle up. i expect ive become a bit of a broken record in regards to my dislike of the popular meow-meow-ification + complete absolution of regulus as a character in order to make him a loveable oc (just as i think erasing all the negative traits that r/s have in order to make them more likeable is just as boring), and all of that applies to those other guys as well (with the slight difference that they are, somehow, even less interesting and significant than regulus in canon), so i won't get into that too much. but i think what you say about having no emotional connection to any of it is exactly right lol--it is a sort of shift? i guess? in the fandom that is simply of no interest to me. they are characters that i just have no emotional investment in and admittedly struggle a little to understand why other people do. i am emotionally invested in, like, five characters overall (and even out of those--there's only two i'm really here for innit xx) and i personally cannot extend that investment to a creepy little side character who is mentioned maybe twice in the entire series.

and that is okay! i do not need to understand it. i don't want to say it annoys me because honestly--i don't go there, its nothing to do with me. if i dont like it i just wont interact with it, and the fact that it doesn't interest me has no bearing on what other people are into or want to do, and i couldn't give less of a shit what people do with the canon material, which is largely garbage anyway. take the bits you want from it, play around with those and ignore the rest. in that respect we are all doing exactly the same thing. but yeah i think s x barty is genuinely awful lol. hate it. very terrible. he's already got a loser werewolf boyfriend and he loves him so so much. leave him alone.

okay, I never knew ppl villainized Camila until I just saw I post that called her b*tchy. If anything, Daisy was. Idk, it's like every fandom I get into, ppl say s*it about characters who "get in the way" of their ship. Daisy was the problem. I'm just so tired of characters being villified. The same thing happened with Wanda in the MCU.

Never underestimate people's ability to hate on a female character. You know how it's said that nothing is certain but death and taxes? Well I changed it to death, taxes and misogyny. I even have a tag for it!

If anything, Camila should have been bitchier. The show made her a snivelling mess at times, but she was not one to take shit. The line in the book, "no offence but I never want to see you again" (with little Julia in her arms) was one of the best things I've ever read, the show cutting this scene out and replacing it with... well, what they did, is criminal. But I've said enough about that.

I stay away from fandoms, after I got it too deep into the Game of Thrones one (and hoo boy, that one is full of misogynists). So I just watch the stuff and stay in my own little bubble. With Marvel, I just watch whatever they throw at me and don't think about it too much. (Now I don't even do that as I'm sooo behind, I've not even seen this Deadpool vs Wolverine film yet. I'll catch up. One day. Hopefully, lol.) I have to admit that the WandaVision series left me with some complicated feelings, bc I liked it during its run, I liked how they showed grief (the line "what is grief if not love persevering" must be one of the best lines in the whole franchise), but at the end, it made this impression on me that Wanda was good bc she had kids and Agatha was bad bc she didn't. And once I get into that mindset, I can't get out of it. (You see now why Karen Sirko matters to me so much.) I think I've seen a little bit of discourse about Wanda, but not a lot. I just follow one blog that posts Marvel gifs and that's it.

There is a lot to talk about female characters and how they're perceived, we could discuss it all year long and then start again on new year's day. Saying all this, though, I do hate some female characters myself. Sometimes you just hate things. Not villainesses, I don't hate villains, when I hate characters it's bc they're annoying or stupid. But I don't think one should feel obliged to like a female character just bc she's a woman either.
