The ‘love’ LUKA had received from Heperu was the only love he had known and so, he views the world around him in the same lens, carving his heart out of the same rotten wood that was used to create his being. What can he do in the face of something so tender, so sharp, so gentle, like needles stabbing into his hands but caressing him sweetly all the same?

Was love meant to be as draining as this? Was it meant to tire and wear out his bones? Was it meant to make his heart clench, thorns ripping at his throat? Was it meant to make him reach his hand out for you, to let his touch linger across your skin, to always seek the feeling of your fingers intertwined with his? It’s a little strange, the odd ‘pain’ in his chest blurring into an unfamiliar feeling of comfort and warmth. He’s not one to run away at the face of such unusual feelings, but maybe he’ll turn away from it, to dismiss it as nothing (it’s not what Heperu taught him).

When did his eyes start to follow you everywhere you go? When did he begin to wish to chase the shooting stars, despite the constricting feeling on his throat, just so he could have the chance to see you, bare and flawed underneath the same skies that had forsaken him, that had abandoned you? He never had seen the problem of hurting others or being hurt as long as it is meant for him, for his own good, but when he sees twist in your expression, the hollow in your eyes, the tremble of your lips, he’s suddenly bitter and thorned. He tries to be kind, in ways that he knows of, in ways that he has seen, experienced, and learned.

To be seen as nothing but manipulative and cunning with his princely and charming demeanor, to be seen as a blank slate, to be seen only on the surface of his sweet smiles that never seem to reach his eyes. But it’s better to be misunderstood than to have you see the wretched and tangled strands that is sewn to create the fabric of his existence, to be viewed under the same limelight he is being put beneath than to have you notice the bleakness of color in his golden eyes that rivals the sun—except his light never exists, only when he gazes at you does it ever shine.

It’s hard to understand him either—not when he cannot understand himself also. He wishes to take away all of your pain, all of your problems and worries, to have you rely on him and only on him, to view the world in your eyes, to cup your cheeks in his hands and press his lips against yours (he has heard of the act of kissing, a strange way to convey and pour one’s desire, adoration, and love to another). He’ll lie down on the grass with you and watch the stars, he’ll listen to your songs and music, he’ll let you put those red flowers found in the Anakt Garden on his hair.

Maybe he does and say such things in the name of ‘control’, ‘possession’, ‘obsession’, or anything that can be used to label whatever reason he has just so he could see that pretty shade that adorns your cheeks, the smile that etches across your lips, the sound that bubbles out of your throat, the eyes that glimmer when you look at him. Maybe it’s just those feeble things that make him feel humane, that makes him break away from the shackles that binds him to the image of ‘Luka, the star’, that makes him realize that he does adore you.

(Whatever this fragile bond you share with him, built on weak foundations of the love he has known and the love you have shared, fragile and fleeting like glass teetering on the edge, he’ll seize it, he’ll shape it, and he’ll make it unbreakable—he’ll make it real, he’ll make it his.)

He likes to believe that he deserves the kind of love he has yet to know of, out of the clutches of Heperu and into the warmth of your own. To hold it into his hands, tightly, unrelenting, never letting go—contorting into control as long as it is his.

I just had a dream that there was a short NMTD threequel series and it was the most out of pocket shit ever. It was sci fi and apparently had aliens from a society with several xenogenders where everyone was pansexual. The word was that Beatrice wasn’t going to be in it, but then she WAS in it, and in the first episode Ben showed up at her house and said “I love you” to her four times in a single monologue, which I was thrilled about.

But then I checked the tag on tumblr to make sure TCW wouldn’t break them up again, and there was fanart where they were each dancing with a different alien, implying that they were going to leave each other for the aliens in order to canonize that they’re both bisexual/pansexual, which is stupid because being bisexual would still mean they’re attracted to each other, they wouldn’t break up over that! You don’t need to make them date other people in order for their bisexuality to count! Let them stay together!

Also they made it canon that Beatrice had moved away to another city to go to school again, which I was annoyed by and thought was OOC after how much she hated being long-distance with Ben, but I was ok with it if it was just an excuse to write Harriett out of the sequel without breaking Beadick up. But then she was still in every episode, so wtf??? Also I checked the credits in the video description and Jake McGregor had completely changed his stage name (not in a trans way, though, just in an I want a different name way, and his stage last name was also the name of his production company that was producing this series?)

Anyway, that’s what I get for thinking about Beadick before going to bed apparently? I’m cackling, wtf brain? Pansexual aliens with multiple xenogenders are cool and all, but not at the cost of my OTP! Also, worrying about TCW breaking up Beadick in a sequel- what is this, 2015? (Sorry, TCW, I know you’re not at fault for dream-you and there’s nothing wrong w trying new things lol)

Geez, the staff pulled a Kado 0 - 1 on us here…i.e. the ending of one ep is the same as the opening of the next ep. It’s just to a lesser extent than Kado did.

Seriously, who is Him??? They still haven’t told us!

Welp, there’s my answer. It was too obvious to centre a 12 episode series around, I would’ve given a plot point like that about…3 or 4 eps, tops.

The thing about this show is that you can just turn your brain off and watch along. It’s a tad slow, but enjoyable and that’s why I’ve stuck with it.

LOL, I understand what it’s like to have “messy, wormlike handwriting”…

I don’t believe a wisp of that karate chop, Holdem. The hand was at the wrong angle.

Finally, the show gets funny again. There’s the Zero we know.

I love the sense of scale the animators have demonstrated with the spells. Just saying that before I have no more chances to.

Royal Tutor 11

I can’t believe they forcibly took Gregor. Isn’t there some kind of legal offence for-oh wait. That’s called kidnapping. (partially sarcastic)

I’ve always found it interesting that the princes have to refer to the king as such, rather than “dad”. That seems to be a problem in every single piece of media you get about royalty, although these guys have a conscious sort of “I am no longer the king, but your father” (and vice versa) switch which is controlled by Viktor.

Oh, so it’s basically all the Dickensian stuff you get in Oliver Twist…(I haven’t read it, but you know how it is with classics *rolls eyes*).

Heine’s movements are believable, but there’s some suspension of belief needed for Viktor’s (because he faints a little too fast, I think).

Welp, this ain’t quite crying material, but I can tell there was a “climax” where the audience was expected to cry. Knowing this is anime-only material keeps my eyes dry, I guess. However, knowing that Heine’s resigned as Royal Tutor really made my heart drop…after all, this is the second last episode, and I’ve really had fun watching these princes and their diminuitive tutor.

I always thought “hai-neh” was a weird pronunciation, but that’s what it says in the katakana.

Seeing Heine tell others their strengths really makes me feel like I’m missing them already, in a good way. I’m not tearing up yet, but it’s real heartwarming and I know if I were in the same situation, I’d cry too.

“Goodbye” isn’t quite “excuse me”, but I guess it works context-wise.

This is one of those shows where “show, don’t tell” works well and I think the show’s nailed it for the most part.

University degrees don’t necessrily make good tutors. Any student knows that, especially in uni.

Boku no Hero Academia 25

Well, that certainly threw me for a loop. Between two forces of roughly even power, it’s unpredictable who’ll win, but the ability to humanise a character comes with weaknesses. I know that already, as a writer and reader of hero stories.

All Might is such a fatherly type. I don’t think I could write a character like him – both OP yet grounded at the same time.

Chotto matte means “wait a bit”, but I feel like “I’ll be right there” is warping the meaning a lil’ too much.

Well, I never expected this show to portray anger. It pulled Kotarou’s anger off really well.

I never thought I’d see the day where Kotarou would rely on the potato mascot, either. I like a show that goes out of its way to be unpredictable like this. Too bad it came a little too late in the game.

Tsukigakirei is all about following the heart and not necessarily the mind, so this is a pefect way to show it.

Oh! That was another good unexpected thing, but then they’ve been teasing that since the fireworks. Too bad they kept part of Kotarou’s face hidden right after it.

This end of ep LINE convo is about a couple that can’t sleep, so one of them starts talking about their part time job…then it gets cut off.

Oh, so that’s how Sakura is related to the main events…okay.

The people aren’t CGI now…or I’ve somehow gotten used to them…? Either way, they’ve stepped up their animation game (in exchange for ep 12 being late, according to a note on the CR page).

The fact Kotarou changes his message is something I can relate with. Even one forum post can take hours to type, even though time is always never on my side.

A “root for the underdog” story is a classic, so I can see why Roman’s rooting for Kotarou.

Why not just talk with her when you’re ready, Kotarou? If The Royal Tutor taught me anything, it’s that it’s always good to talk things over if you can’t understand each other.

Aitai can mean “want to meet”(like you’re meant to do to make the fish a heart), but the ai is in hiragana (so it doesn’t mean anything) and the kanji for tai used means “red snapper”. As in, the fish.

There’s a lot of ganbaru (try your hardest) used in this ep, and Kotarou says benkyouganbaresou in this “Sorry it didn’t turn out so great” convo. The nuance is therefore lost in the translated version, “I feel like I’m ready to study again starting tomorrow”, although I can’t suggest a better alternative.

Yeah, Kotarou’s mother is right. If you have a normal sleep schedule, you’re able to work better, despite how great it may be to sleep in.

I get easily lost on public transport, so I understand the vibe Kotarou’s parents are giving off.

This ep’s ED LINE convo is two people (one’s a guy, the other I don’t know the gender of) talking about studying and, at the start of the convo, the guy’s mother being angry. At the end of the convo it turns out the guy’s notebook was blank (and that’s the punchline to the convo).

Funi’s opened up its services to my region (due to the CR x Funi merger), I could probably watch 18if there, but 1) I feel like Funi doesn’t have a good enough player, and 2) I feel like it’ll show up on a service that has a better player.

You’ll notice Nobunaga no Shinobi, a carryover from the last season I previously didn’t care for, is on the list. I was looking at YouTube videos of people’s favourite OPs and I fell in love with Shirayuki (by Renka, it’s the OP for the current season) recently, so I binged the existing content in one day. However, it being a short series means it’s not eligible for simulcast commentary and I’ll have to make a separate ranking for short series once I make my year-end rankings (to include ~ Ise to Kanegasaki-hen ~, and because watching Kenka Bancho Otome has screwed my rankings over enough as it is). After all, my 2016 ranking policy was “a show I saw at least once over in 2016 and had at least one seasonal entry in 2016″, which if applied to this year would make Nobunaga no Shinobi eligible, but it would be unfair to pit it against any shows with standard 24 min eps.

stormchasing – klance, 18k, y’all adventure fics are my favorite like idk how much klance was actually in this but it was so much fun to read and i love it so y’all need to read it too ok trust me. seriously. best fic ever. read it.

another word for never – ???, 204k (holy shit), i followed this one as it was a WIP so it seemed a lot shorter to me lmao. a MEGA au where matt is the red paladin, allura is the black paladin, shiro is a galra prisoner-turned-soldier, and keith is a galra prince-turned-traitor. super super interesting mostly-gen action fic, there is a sequel that i haven’t touched but i need to, highly recommended if you’re fine with heavy themes. (seriously, read the tags before you start.)

WIPs:

ok i needed to share a few WIPs which i’m too drained to finish/haven’t been updated in a while

ASPEN FUCKING FALLS – kla...nce...? (in the same way 11/mike is a thing though) & shalluratt!!!, a stranger things AU!!!!! half the reason i’m even adding a WIP section!!!!! unfortunately not updating anymore, but it holds a special place in my heart and i will keep it open in my tabs in the hopes that it will one day come back to life. note the the description says ot3 heavy after chapter 8 and it is at 8/25 chapters....that is what i am holding on hope for.

suis-moi – kinda klance and shatt??, 16k, the brothers au, one of the few fics that i have read multiple times. it’s just...very good. read the warnings though! but seriously one of my all-time favorite fics that i’ve almost completely adopted into my headcanon.

homesick at spacecamp – klance, 48k, besides being named after the one song i have most desired a vld fic to be named after, it’s a fake married au which, by the most recent chapter, is resolved, so you can read without fear of being left on-edge. note the tag “gratuitous ballroom dancing”. that’s how you know it’s good.

watercast – klance, 48k, My Friend if you haven’t read this yet, you should. it’s got mermaid lance and hunk, avian keith and shiro, and curious human pidge. klance-centric though. very interesting universe, good character interactions, highly recommend.

on thin ice – klance, 125k (holy shit), apparently there are two new chapters to this which i have yet to read....so.....i assume they’re good? keith is a hockey player who lance teaches figure skating to. lance has Unresolved Issues regarding partner skating. frustrating at times, but i’m pretty sure it will end well?
