Oooh, story idea (one I've been considering, but don't have time for since I'm working on my own book): Sombra being captured by McCree back in the Blackwatch days. While he's waiting for Reyes to come back and pick her up for questioning, Sombra talks to him. She tells him how much she knows about him (little or a lot), how she let him capture her... Maybe she tries to tempt him to Talon, or ask to be her friend, or about the eye (illuminati)... I just need them to have net in the past...
This sounds like itâd be a good story, not necessarily romantic in nature, but definitely one that I would read if only for the interaction between a young McCree and Sombra!Seeing as how McCree was 29 during the events of Retribution, maybe this story could take place between a 24 year old Blackwatch agent McCree and still fairly new to Talon agent Sombra. I like to imagine she joined even before she was an adult because her skills were that impressive to Talon, somewhere around 16-17 years. Sheâs kinda cocky at first and just gloats to herself about how sheâs using Talon to pursue her own goals.Of course, sheâs not so cocky when she gets knocked out on a mission and wakes up tied to a chair in a musty, dark room. Immediately, she knows who the man in the room with her is - Jesse McCree: Amercian Blackwatch agent and former member of the Deadlock Gang based in the US. Talon made it a point for her to know each member of Overwatch (and its âsecretâ sect). While there isnât anything truly remarkable about him, the note of him being an orphan and being a gangmember does resonate with her.Even so, seeing as how he states heâs waiting for his commander to arrive so they can bring her in for interrogation, Sombraâs not keen on being taken anywhere. Sheâs already escaped âThe Eyeâ for now and thereâs no way that the tools from Overwatch will stop her from finding out the truth. She tries to goad him with the information she does know about him. His eyes narrow but doesnât seem to question her knowledge, only commenting on how young she is and that itâs despicable that Talon would recruit kids, shortly before she retorts with the hypocrisy of his situation. âFunny. Isnât that what Reyes did to you?âHis stoic look falters and he mumbles under his breath and she smirks, knowing she might have a way out of this mess. He asks her what she was doing in the area and she shrugs, not bothering to answer. Truth is, she was on a mission for Talon, but she was taking advantage of her first solo mission to research more on Talonâs member base, as even as a skilled, desired agent, Sombra does not hold clearance for more sensitive information. When he asks her again what her motives are, she responds âItâs a shame that at some point, people stop learningâŠisnât it?â She relishes in the look of irritation that spreads across his face but needs to leave.Itâs her turn to be startled when he grabs the back of her chair, leaning down to stare at her straight in the eye. He warns her about messing with the wrong kinds of people and that sheâll ruin her life before itâs even begun. She wonders if heâs practiced that line for just such an occasion heâd met someone who mirrored him. âThen isnât this the part where you let me go so I can start over?âHe steps away, silent for a long time before he mumbles and walks around to untie her. He keeps her weapon for safety, noting that she probably doesnât even know how to use it. She does but even then, Sombra doesnât like the mess afterward. She questions him, wondering if all it takes for a Blackwatch agent to let a prisoner go is to make promises of improved character. Sheâs given a warning to watch her mouth - if sheâs not doing anything and is just some new agent, then sheâs worth practically nothing to him as long as neither of them say anything, given she already seems to have info on Overwatch and its members. âI like you, vaquero,â Sombra says once he orders her to get out of his sight. âSo Iâll leave you with thisâŠdonât trust people so easily. You never know what people actually want.ââGet out of here,â he repeats. âAnd if something happens and I see your face again, I will shoot you.ââFair enough,â she replies. âIâll be the friend you wonât ever see.â Her cloak activates and she runs away. She wonât see McCree again for almost fifteen years but in that time, sheâs effectively managed to manipulate missions and ambushes that would have surely led the cowboy to his demise. After all, itâs nice to have a friend who owes you a few dozen favorsâŠ

Would Sombra cry if Jesse Proposed? Like... I want her to ugly-cry happy tears. Because even though she is a morally-grey, impish, gremlin; he tells her he'll hold on to her for life and she can't even handle it (T-T)b
I canât see Sombra crying like that over a marriage proposal. Sombra even rejected Jesseâs proposals for marriage a few times before she finally accepted. For Sombra to cry without control from happiness, it would have to be after a while of her being with Jesse, so married for a few years now. Get her used to that love and affection that sheâs been without her whole life and sheâs far more unwilling to let that go. She almost loses Jesse at one point in their marriage so when he barely survives - heâs still with her - is when her feelings for this man finally overwhelm her and spill out in the form of tears. The sobs donât stop but the wave of joy and relief that takes her is the most intense its ever been. Even as his arm weakly wraps around her, she cries freely into his shoulder.
#mcsombra#anon ask#as much as i'd love to see sombra ugly cry - it'd take something really traumatic#it has to hold absolute value in her heart for her to break like that

Reptilian Wiles (McSombra Dragon AU)
For McSombra Week Day 3: Myths and Monsters
He wasnât sure what was more bizarre â the fact that he was flirting with a dragon, or the fact that the dragon was flirting back.
Dragons had always been a nuisance to humanity. Big, powerful animals with the intelligence of a human and a penchant for violence to match, they were the only creatures as interested in useless valuables as humans were.
There were knights who trained their whole lives to repel the beasts. Most of them got gobbled up or burnt to a crisp in their very first dragon encounter. Others simply disappeared without a trace. There were rumors that these humans were âchosenâ by the dragons â but for what, nobody had a clue.
Jesse was not a dragon hunter by trade. He saw them as more amusing than threatening. They could be so much more than they were, with their unfathomable lifespans and incredible power. Yet they spent their time fighting monkeys over shiny objects.
The one that came through town early one autumn morning was no exception. The first Jesse heard of it was its heavy wingbeats from up in the clouds. The wind howled as it sliced through the air and landed with enough force to flatten several nearby buildings. He could hear the destruction it caused before he could actually see the creature. When the smoke cleared, though, he couldnât miss it. Massive purple wings the length of a small plane splayed outward, clearing the dust away.
Crouching behind a half-leveled house, Jesse took in the sight before him. This dragon was easily the biggest he had ever seen. It was of a radiant amethyst shade, with onyx spikes parting its skull and trailing down its spine, and its claws, easily as long as Jesseâs forearm, were an unnatural electric blue. A single one of its forepaws was larger than Jesseâs entire body. It wouldnât even break a sweat crushing him into the dirt.
Immediately the townâs ragtag guard force was upon the creature. They launched arrows at it from the rickety old guard tower, and foot soldiers rushed at it with their poorly-crafted swords. The dragon sneered as it lifted its tail, covered in glittering violet scales and tipped by a neon blue spade, and used it to sweep away the whole sad little battalion. Their weapons and belongings scattered to the ground. The dragon reached for something one of them had dropped. Jesse would have assumed it was a shiny sword or a piece of discarded armor â but instead it was one of the soldierâs phones, that had been carelessly tossed into a belt pouch upon word of the attack. Its screen lit up as the dragon picked it up. The creature tilted its head as it studied the screen â then it grabbed a barrel from a ruined yard, tore it open, and dropped the phone inside. Other assorted electronics soon joined the phone as the dragon stormed through town collecting them.
Jesseâs hand settled on the trusty six-gun holstered at his waist. It wouldnât do jack against a dragon, but maybe itâd be enough to scare it off.
The dragonâs paw smashed through the roof of the local tavern Jesse frequented and came back out with one of the barâs formerly wall-mounted holovids. It joined the phone and the other âtreasuresâ in the hoard barrel.
Jesse laid low, but it was a useless effort â this dragon was thorough. It must have smelled him as it passed by, for it turned and stretched its long neck around the corner where Jesse was hiding. One giant violet eye fixed on him, its slitted pupil dilating as it took him in.
Backed against a literal wall with nothing else to do, Jesse tipped his head and sputtered out a âHowdy.â
The dragon turned to face him head-on, studying him with clear curiosity. Jesse reached slowly for his gun. As he moved the dragon locked on to his metal arm, glittering in the morning sunlight. âOh, this?â He popped it off and shook it. Dirt and gunpowder sprinkled out of the beat-up old prosthetic. âYou donât want this old thing.â
As it studied his prosthetic arm Jesse unholstered his gun with his other hand. Before the dragon could catch on to his actions he popped the gun off right in its face, striking it with multiple bullets. The dragon roared and pulled back, in the process crushing another building with its gigantic hide. Jesse wasted no time attempting to retreat into the shadows, but the dragon was quicker. It grabbed him up in its claws, sending his gun tumbling to the ground, and brought him up to its gigantic maw. When he was close enough to feel its breath on his skin the dragon unleashed another thunderous roar, with accompanying bolts of electricity that made his hair stand on end.
Up close he realized the bullets had actually made a slight impact. One of the dragonâs scales had been blown right off, leaving a mismatched dark spot between its eyes.
â...Startinâ to think that wasnât the best idea.â It didnât seem likely heâd survive this encounter. Heâd gotten out of a lot of scrapes in his day, but dragons were not known for their mercy. His only solace was the knowledge that there were worse ways to go than instant death by dragon.
Unfortunately, it seemed instant death was not in this dragonâs plan for Jesse. The creature grabbed him by the fabric of his serape between its teeth and then took off bounding, crushing half the town in its path. Its wings, which looked surprisingly delicate up close, stretched out on either side of its massive body and began catching the breeze around them. With a series of powerful flaps they somehow managed to lift the dragon into the air. It took off with Jesse still in its clutches.
âHey, uh, where we goinâ?â He held tight to his hat as the wind tried to tear it off his head.
The dragon was clearly carrying him off toward the badlands, the home of most dragons. Iâm gonna be dragon food, ainât I.
âYâknow,â he tried, âif youâre lookinâ for treasure I could help you out. I know a lotta guys who deal exclusively in...obtaininâ rare stuff.â
The dragon ignored his words and kept flying.
âYou talk?â he continued, growing increasingly desperate. âI know you dragons are a clever bunch. Bet you got a lotta interesting things to talk about.â
The dragon growled through its clenched teeth. Saliva dripped down his cape as its tongue flicked around inside its mouth.
âSo Iâm guessinâ thatâs a no.â He mulled over what to say next. His words were all he had. âDâyou understand what Iâm sayinâ, at least?â
The dragon huffed. With one clawed paw it grabbed him out of its mouth and then passed him to its hind claws, presumably to avoid listening to him anymore.
At this altitude there was nothing else to do but look around at the scenery. He had never seen a dragon this color before. Most were grey or black or red. Its scales were so shiny he could nearly see himself in their reflection. Upon closer inspection he noticed there was a sort of split in the creatureâs scales on its underbelly, like a seam. He spent a few seconds staring at it before he realized with embarrassment what it must have been. His cheeks reddened as he averted his eyes.
The dragon, or dragoness apparently, flew him all the way into the storm clouds that covered the badlands. She flew nimbly through the storm until they reached the top of a high mountain. Lightning arced all around them, growing in intensity as they flew closer to the mountaintop, and Jesse found himself amazed the dragonessâ giant wings werenât struck. Then a bolt of lightning hit her wing, and her body simply absorbed the shock. Oh.
They landed on the rocky cliff outside of a deep cave. The dragoness practically kicked him into the side of the mountain, then damn near landed on top of him. He rolled out of the way just before her foot hit the ground where he had been. She then turned and grabbed him by the back of his shirt with her teeth once again, and carried him inside the cave.
âWait, wait,â he grunted as she dropped him to the dirt somewhere in the darkness. Sitting up, he brushed himself off and cleared his throat. âIâm sorry for my, uh, ungentlemanly behavior earlier. Iâm never so rough with a lady.â He lifted his hat to gaze up into the dragonâs face. â...You, uh, are a lady?â
The dragon snorted. Jesse held his hands up defensively. âOkay, okay, I give up. So youâre gonna eat me, right?â
To his surprise, the dragoness gave a curt nod.
âHold up,â he sputtered, âso you can understand me?â
The dragoness nodded again.
âYa just donât want to talk to me.â
She pulled her teeth back and snarled.
An idea dawned on him then. âOr you can understand me, but ya canât actually speak human yerself.â He quickly realized by her reaction that that must have been the truth. As she lifted her chin and gave a mighty huff, a tiny smile formed on his lips. âI could teach ya, you know.â He backed up until his heels bumped against the cavern wall, and even still he could not fully take in the girth of the creature before him. âI speak two languages. You could open up a whole world for yerself talkinâ to humans. You could make deals with us for those electronics ya seem to like so much.â
The dragoness tilted her massive head. She wasnât baring her teeth anymore, which Jesse viewed as promising. âIâll teach you,â he continued, growing ever more confident, âand Iâll even show you where to find all the best loot. That sound like a good deal for not roastinâ me and eatinâ me like a shish kabob?â
The dragoness brought her snout in close to him, and showed her teeth again. This time, he realized, it was not a scowl, but appeared to be more of a smirk.
âSo Iâm guessinâ thatâs a deal?â
The sparks from her mouth had Jesseâs skin tingling as she remained close to him, delighting in his uncertainty around her.
It seemed heâd talked himself out of yet another sure-death situation. At least for the moment.
âSo.â Jesse sat cross-legged atop a tall rock, staring down at the dragonâs hoard of stolen electronics. The sparks from the various devices kept the cave dimly lit as they reflected off the purple, jewel-encrusted walls of the cavern. âYou got a name?â
The dragoness was lying in the middle of her pile of loot. Her tail dragged slowly back and forth across the stone floor, dragging wires and broken computer parts along with it. She answered him with a belch.
ââSat your name?â
She snorted again, sparks shooting from her nostrils as well as her mouth. It seemed almost like laughter. Did dragons have a sense of humor?
âWell okay, guess your name is Burp, then.â
This time the dragonâs laughter was unmistakable. She waved him off with a paw and barked out a roar-laugh.
âYou think thatâs funny, huh?â Jesse smiled, a little more confident then. âDidnât know dragons could laugh. Guess makinâ one laughâs better than makinâ one cry...â
The dragon stared at him with hooded eyelids.
â...Okay, okay. Iâll get serious.â
She reached a paw over to him and plucked off his hat. âHey! Whatâre you doing?â She rose up from her lying position just long enough to lay it under herself. Then she crushed it under her hide. âWhat, you donât think I can be serious in a Stetson?â
The dragoness blew her mighty breath over him. The sparks set his hair standing straight up. She cackled again. âI see,â was all he said.
The dragoness was clearly toying with him. He didnât totally mind â it beat the hell out of being eaten alive.
âSo,â he continued, pulling one knee in to rest an elbow on it, âyou know any words at all?â
The dragon growled.
âIâm gonna assume that means somethinâ in dragon.â He lifted his metal arm and gave her a wave. âHow about âHelloâ?â
He was answered by another electrified huff.
âHello.â
âRaaaa.â The sound was far from a word, but it wasnât a roar, either.
âHellllooooo.â
The dragoness opened her mouth wide. âRowww.â
âYou gotta use yer lips and tongue, miss.â He slid cautiously down off his rock, noting how the dragonâs pupils fixed on him as he approached her and her hoard. âLike this.â He felt like a lion tamer as he reached carefully for her jowls. The dragoness didnât need language to convey the incredulity on her face. Nevertheless, she allowed him to gingerly tug at her mouth, prying her teeth apart to reposition them for word-forming. Up so close to her he could see the glimmer in the dragonâs eyes â a clear intelligence hidden behind the beastly visage.
âOkay, try talkinâ now,â he said, holding her giant mouth just so.
âRhaa?â
âHehhhhlloooo...â
âHwreh?â Her growl that time didnât just sound like a roar. It had something of a voice to it.
âMaybe we can try a different word.â Jesse repositioned her mouth. âHow about âJesseâ?â
The dragoness shook her head. With her long claws she flicked Jesse away, knocking him back into the rock. âHey! I thought you wanted to learn!â
She curled up atop her hoard and settled down facing away from Jesse. He peered around her hide to see she was poking at one of the cell phone screens that wasnât completely demolished under her weight.
âWell, okay. I guess I'll just be headinâ on out then.â The moment Jesse said that her head snapped up. She coiled her tail around him, blocking his exit. Jesse sighed. âSo ya donât wanna learn, ya just want me here?â
She wrinkled her nose as she beat her tail against the ground. Over the loud thunks Jesse said, âKinda hard to tell another creature how youâre feeling without any words, huh?â
Suddenly he found himself swept out of the cave by the dragonessâ tail. She practically knocked him down the mountain â he just barely caught himself on the craggy cliff outside the caveâs mouth. Seconds later a giant boulder from within the cave rolled in front of the entrance, blocking him from getting back inside.
âWell.â He adjusted his belt indignantly. âAll right, then.â
Descending the stormy mountain by himself was no easy feat, but it was not his focus. His mind was on the enigmatic creature heâd apparently pissed right off.
He was drinking at the tavern the next time he encountered her. The roof had just recently been patched up from her last attack, and the patrons were seemingly undeterred by the prospect of being crushed under dragon paws. Anything for a good drink, he supposed.
He was snuffing out a cigarette in a dingy ash tray when he both heard and felt the unmistakable quake. The other humans at the bar scrambled at the noise. Jesse remained in place, staring straight ahead as he took another swig of his cheap beer.
Not a moment later the door crashed off its hinges, heralding a giant purple paw. Jesse turned just in time to see a big old eye peer in the dusty window at him. âHelloooo?â The booming voice rattled the glass in his hand. âJesse!â
The other patrons, taking cover in the far corner of the bar, all stared over at him. Jesse could only sigh in response.
The window was the next thing to be shattered. The paw reached through it and grabbed Jesse right up. He managed to lean over and put out his cigarette just before she yanked him through the now-empty window frame.
âHowdy.â He nodded cordially up at her. The dragoness sneered down at him. âBack for more lootinâ?â
She nodded proudly.
âYa didnât get enough the last time?â
With her free paw she pointed a claw at his chest.
âOh. You want me to help ya.â He had said he could assist her in obtaining things for her hoard. âI see youâve been puttinâ your words to good use.â
âHelp me,â she hissed. The order raised Jesseâs eyebrows. âYeah. Iâve been practicing.â The last word was mangled in her unaccustomed mouth, but Jesse got what she was trying to say.
âSo you want me to help you get more electronics?â It was such a silly thing for a dragon to hoard. At least gold and jewels were shiny and visually appealing, not to mention the traditional thing dragons seemed to go for. TVs? Computers? Cell phones? What would a dragon want with any of those things? Then again she hardly seemed like a conventional dragon.
The dragoness shook her head. Then she opened her mouth and pointed to it.
âOh. Okay.â
It was a good thing he wasnât actually in danger, because all the townspeople did was stare as he was carried off into the sky.
Their original meetings had only lasted a couple of hours at most. The more recent ones began to stretch out, sometimes taking up an entire day. Once the dragoness learned how to enunciate she was a regular chatterbox. It was funny; even though Jesse taught her his languages in his usual Southern drawl, she had an accent all her own. He wondered if sheâd lived near Spanish-speaking humans in the past. She picked it up well, even better than English, in fact.
During one of their lessons she really seemed to latch on to a particular word. Jesse was translating some things around them â the cave, its rocks, the light from the torches heâd set up, the shadow the dragoness cast over her hoardâ
âIs that your word for me?â She must have thought he was pointing at her instead of the shadow. ââSombraâ?â
âOh, no.â He chuckled. âI was talkinâ about your shadow. Thatâs the word forââ
It was too late. âI kind of like that. âSombraâ. Sounds like a cool dragon name, doesnât it?â
âWell, itâs better than âBurpâ.â
âI cast a shadow over all the land.â She fanned her wings out dramatically. âSombra.â
âYeah. Youâre just terrifyinâ.â
With one swipe she knocked him off his feet.
As Sombra grew more comfortable with human language, their meetings began to change. No longer were they one-sided lessons, Jesse talking at Sombra. Curiosity filled the dragoness. She overflowed with it â she wanted to know everything about everything.
âSo...â she said one day, curling her massive body around Jesse to prevent his escape, âyouâve told me all about your world. Now tell me more about you.â
âMe?â He waved her off. ââFraid there ainât much of interest about my life. Iâm just a guy livinâ outside the law.â
âWhy?â
ââCause the law and I donât always get along. In fact we usually donât.â
âBut humans live in packs, right?â She drew him in with one paw and studied him closely. âWhatâs your pack like?â
âAinât got one. Iâm a loner type, mostly. Never had no family or friends.â
âNo mate?â
Her question gave him pause. â...No.â
At that, Sombra cackled. âWow, youâve never even had a mate before?â
âDidnât say that.â
âSo youâve mated?â She swiveled her long neck to loom her face right in his. âDo you have humanlings? Or whatever theyâre called?â
Jesse couldnât help but chuckle at that. âNo kids, no.â With a glint in his eye he decided to turn the intrusive conversation back on her. âWhat about you? You got any little ones?â
âDoes it look like I do?â She swung her tail through the wide, empty cavern. âI donât want any. And even if I did, I canât stand male dragons enough to get myself any.â
âWhat are male dragons like?â He sat down on the top of her paw as she rested on the ground, sphinx-like.
She scowled. âAwful. They land in your territory out of nowhere and act like itâs just expected youâre going to have sex with them. Thankfully female dragons are way bigger than males, so we can just crush âem.â She stomped her free paw down in demonstration, smashing a chunk of her precious hoard to pieces.
âDoes that kill âem?â
âNot usually. Iâm not much of a killer. I just knock âem around a little.â
âEver met a male ya didnât want to crush like an old TV?â
Her tail swished again, but this time she was grinning. âNope. Still waiting on one to disprove my expectations.â
If he didnât know better he would have thought this building-sized creature was flirting with him. His response to that scenario, he found, was not as negative as he would have expected. It wasnât very negative at all.
He had never been one for the nuclear American family dream, anyway...
It was about two months into their unusual friendship that a massive storm pushed Jesse into staying the night in Sombraâs cave. The sky was alight with electricity, the only brightness through the storm clouds all around. Rain flooded the trails down the mountain, sending cascades of mud down its slope. There was no way Jesse could have made it down in one piece â but he tried. He had made it a short stretch down when the mud sucked his boot right in and sent him plunging face-first into the muck. He scrambled to get to his feet, but his hands sank in as well. By the time he scrambled back up the mountainside he was soaked to the bone and caked in mud like some sort of bog monster.
Sombra, of course, got a laugh so big out of it that she toppled over onto her back and kicked the cave roof with her hind paws. Jesse sighed, feeling the rainy mud dribble down his forehead as he lowered his chin. âAww, donât worry,â Sombra said, collecting herself at last, âthatâll clean right off.â
âHow am I gonna c-â
Sombra wrapped her claws around him and dragged him adamantly, yet gingerly, over to her muzzle. Before he could figure out what she was doing he was slapped with a wall of tongue. Its sandpaper texture took the mud right off, along with his hat, which he just barely caught as it flew off his head. Eventually he pulled his soaking shirt off, removed his mud-soaked shoes and his socks that were practically glued to his feet, and tossed them on a rock in the corner. Sombra drew him in again and cleaned him up with all the tenderness a 30-foot reptilian beast could manage.
As her tongue ran over his bare back he felt a shudder run through him. He also felt something else, which he remained rolled over in an attempt to hide. But Sombra was too clever.
âYou smell funny,â she said.
âWell Iâm covered in dragon spit.â
âItâs not that.â She gave him a thorough sniff. âOh my God. Youâre...I donât know the word for it.â
As cool as he tried to play it, he felt his cheeks heat under her stare. He tipped his hat down over his eyes, but it was too late.
âAwww! Thatâs adorable!â She gave him another lick, this time right on his face. âI couldnât mate with a tiny little human like you. Iâd swallow you whole!â
âSwallow me?â
âAnd I donât mean with my mouth.â
â...Right. Oâcourse.â
âIâm flattered, though.â Sombra wrapped her tail around Jesse, picked him up and dropped him into her claws. âYou are pretty cute. For a human.â
He wasnât sure what was more bizarre â the fact that he was flirting with a dragon, or the fact that the dragon was flirting back. Was it wrong? A dragon was sort of an animal, but it was as smart as a human being, with a human voice and personality. Was it wrong to be attracted to that personality when it was in the body of something so monstrous?
The dragoness licked his face again. He must have absolutely shocked her when he laid his palms on her muzzle and gave her a kiss right on her massive mouth.
âHuh? What are you trying to do?â She drew back from him. âIf you wanted the scraps out of my teeth you could have just asked.â
âScraps? No, I wasââ He thought better of confessing, and cut himself off. â...Sorry.â
Sombra bopped him on the head with one claw. âIf youâre hungry there are usually rats all through this cave. Humans can hunt, right?â
âUh...yeah. We can.â
Sombra studied him with those glittering violet eyes of hers. âThatâs what you wanted, right?â Her head tilted just a little to the side. âIâm still new to this human communication thing.â
âYeah. Yes. Thatâs what I wanted.â
Sombra clicked her tongue. âThatâs not what you wanted.â Her warm scales wrapped around him as she lay down by his side. âWas it some kind of mating ritual?â
âNo.â
He could hear the electrified air sizzle from her mouth as she huffed with amusement. âOh. Okay.â
They remained curled up together for the rest of the cold night. Sombra was suspiciously quiet. Jesse had a feeling this was not the last he would hear of his actions.
âSo what were you doing when you put your mouth on mine?â
As heâd expected, Sombra had not stopped pestering him about it. It must have been driving her crazy living in ignorance of his intentions.
âI told you, it was nothinâ.â
âIt wasnât nothing. You got all weird about it.â
Sombra was in her usual position, curled up atop her hoard. Jesse sat leaning against the spines on her back.
âI heard some dragons can take human forms,â he said, trying to change the subject.
âYeah. Some can.â
âWhat about you?â
âNot me. Iâm a hundred percent dragon.â
âAre these other dragons not 100% dragon?â
She tipped her head back and forth. âThereâs a lot of history of weird interbreeding, humans mating with dragons and having hybrid offspring...a lot of dragons nowadays have human ancestors, and there are some totally normal-looking humans who have dragon blood in them. Itâs kind of a huge mess.â
âSo there are humans that fall for dragons?â He adjusted his hat to shield his eyes just a bit. âHm. Weird.â
âEh, Iâve seen weirder.â
âReally? Like what?â
âLike a human trying to kiss a dragon on the mouth.â
Jesseâs spine straightened. Predictably, Sombra was smirking that knowing little smirk of hers. âYou think I donât know what that is? Iâve stolen enough human media to know thatâs something you guys consider a big, sappy, romantic deal.â
âSo whyâd you play dumb all this time then??â
She folded her claws under her chin. âI wanted to see what youâd say.â
He let out a long, slow breath. âJesus. Guess you donât even need to be human to have feminine wiles.â
Sombra craned her neck all the way back to where Jesse was sitting. As delicately as she could, she bumped her mouth against his. It was still almost enough to knock him over.
âSo now I know the secrets of human language and I have a smitten human under my claw. Soon Iâll be the most powerful creature in the world.â
âYeah, ya really seem like the power-hungry type.â
âYou never know. Iâm pretty sly.â
âCanât help but think if you were evil youâd have just eaten me right off the bat.â
âHmm. True.â This time when she nudged her cheek against his it did not practically knock him down. She seemed to be deliberately restraining her awesome strength. âSo what are we supposed to do now?â
He wasnât sure how she expected an answer from a human whose life had been turned inside-out in a matter of months. âI donât have a clue,â he murmured. âMight be able to take you out to dinner if we reserve the whole restaurant. Probâly the whole parking lot, too...â
âYeah, letâs go out for a night on the town!â She hopped to her feet so abruptly Jesse nearly fell off her back. âWe can try human food, learn new words, smash some stuff...â At the look on Jesseâs face Sombra paused. âOkay, maybe no smashing. ...A little smashing?â His headshake stopped her. âOkay, no smashing. Sorry, itâs in my blood.â
âWell, maybe next time we can go out and smash some stuff,â he said. âItâll be like a cultural exchange.â
âSounds good to me. I may not like male dragons, but I still have standards when it comes to mates. If you canât at least crush a good building once in a while youâre not even worth my time.â
With that she rushed out of the cave and took off into the sky. Jesse clung to his hat with one hand and her spines with the other.
This turn of events was somehow both completely unexpected and also nothing less than what he would have expected out of his crazy life.

(Referring to the gross anon) I personally don't ship mchanzo. I prefer mcsombra and people can have their opinions :)
Yeah but itâs like⊠what do you hope to accomplish by coming into someoneâs ask like that? Like if you want to discuss the problems of Fujoshi culture that come with a popular M/M ship Iâd be open to discuss that, but just coming in and saying itâs gross when everythingâs fanon is⊠well it doesnât seem particularly conducive to⊠anything.
#and i like McSombra too it's just narratively i've been able to get more done with McHanzo and Spiderbyte#...and also I really like Spiderbyte

my hc of sombra as a lesbian is so firmly in place that i do a serious double take whenever i see her shipped with a dude and it always seems incredibly off to me
#like. no offense to mcsombra shippers or anything but#it weirds me the fuck out personally#but i can't say anything cause her sexuality hasn't been specified in canon so technically nobody's doing anything wrong#she's still gay tho#like really really gay#sombra#overwatch#shitpost#from the purple cavern#ovw headcanon

Holy shit...
Sudden realization why my favorite McCree ships are with Pharah, Mercy, and Sombra.
I subconsciously molded them around the Spider-Man love interest trio of Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, and Felicia Hardy.
McPharah is Peter and MJ, McMercy is Peter and Gwen, and McSombra is Peter and Felicia.
#Overwatch#Jesse McCree#Fareeha Amari#Angela Ziegler#Sombra#McCree#Pharah#Mercy#Spider-Man#Spiderman#Peter Parker#Mary Jane Watson#MJ Watson#Gwen Stacy#Felicia Hardy#Black Cat#McPharah#McMercy#McSombra#i'm really mad it took me this long to realize it

McSombra for number 4 and/or 46 please!
âWait, no- thatâs mine, whatâre you doinâ-?âAll Sombra had to do was lean back only slightly to avoid Jesseâs hand reaching for the shot glass she took away from him.âBorracho.â She almost laughed at the way his nose wrinkled; if the culmination of sadness, rage, and confusion had an expression, then it was currently on Jesseâs flushed face. He stared at her, swaying slightly on his barstool until suddenly slamming both hands onto the counter, rattling the various glasses and bottles littered along the top.âIâll show you a boar-ah-cho.â He sounded so resolute, so determined that Sombra almost thought for a second that he really had drunk himself stupid.Sheâd been expecting a grab or some other drunken show of stupidity that she hadnât realized heâd smashed his lips against hers until she tasted the remnants of whiskey on his lips. They most likely looked ridiculous; red-faced Jesse having his mouth smashed against hers with his eyes pinched closed. Sombra blinked as he pulled away with a small groan and what he most likely assumed was a sultry grin.âThat⊠that was a lot different than I thought itâd be,â she admitted. He was still swaying but eventually he cocked a brow at her. He then lifted his shot glass to her in a toast, to which Sombra realized she was no longer holding in her hands. âIâm a man of mystery, darlinâ,â he bragged with a wink, throwing the last of his whiskey back. âItâs what keeps ya cominâ back for moreâŠâLuckily, she was close enough to catch his weight as Jesse slumped over, his head conveniently landing on her chest as he drifted off to sleep. âTonto,â she mumbled, raking her fingers through his hair and simply enjoying the sheer simplicity of her gunslinger.

ok this is not a headcanon/prompt but i always like ot hear ppls answers: what got you into mcsombra and why do you ship them? or like what about them interests you?
Oooooh cool question!! I think it started from my love for Sombra (I was already obsessed with her five minutes into playing Overwatch). And as for pairing with McCree, Iâve noticed that Iâve always been drawn to power couples. Couples that strengthen each other and make up for where the other person is lacking, and essentially have the potential to rule the world sorta thing. Itâs not a conscious thought, but I think because Sombra and McCree together are the total package (brains AND brawn), I just couldnât help myself. Iâm also a huge sucker for characters that excel in their fields, so the best hacker + best shot? I'd be scared to challenge them!!Â
On top of that, I love that both of them are very different people, but have very compatible personalities and similar backstories. Theyâre two characters that I could genuinely imagine having a relationship (even just as friends) and relying on each other as someone to always have their backs when the going gets rough.Â
My favourite compatibility point for this ship is definitely their relationship with the truth. Sombra is so adverse to it, while McCree is so upfront - it makes for a really interesting contrast. More than anything, Sombra needs someone who she can trust, and I donât think thereâs any character better than McCree for that. He also needs someone he can count on, and though Sombra seems to be a bit of a wildcard for Talon, her actions follow a pretty linear goal, if youâre willing to take the time to understand what that goal is. She knows what she wants and will do everything she can to accomplish it, a trait that Iâd imagine would both inspire and invigorate McCree (who has thus far been so worn out by the mess that was Blackwatch). That, and she always looks out for her real friends, Iâm sure he could appreciate that. Â
Overwatch has also made them super easy to ship too, giving them that scene in the Reflections comic together, near identical backstories, drinking habits (problems? itâs debatable), and overall pretty casual and fun-loving personalities. They could just really improve each otherâs lives and man I am here for it!!!

Ship youâre curious about: đ
Shipping Asks
As someone with a lot of ships, that's never really crossed my mind. Though, I guess some that I have been curious about are the ones that I want to do in RP, but never have the chance to do them. Those include Doomzo, McSombra, McWidow, HanYatta, DoomYatta, BobYatta, McMercy, Max/Doomfist, Hanzo76, HanMei, and plenty more that I'll probably remember after this post.

Did you know that Mcsombra week is currently going on?!
Oh dang! Whatâs the prompt for today?
âŠAU? Okay I can work with that. Okay since I got a couple of asks talking about âSpymaster Sombraâ in the Witch Mercy AU, I think Iâm gonna run with that even though I donât know if Sombraâs getting a halloween skin because it sounds so cool. So have some âSpymaster of the Comtesseâ Sombra and Monster Hunter McCree.Â
â
He stood at the foot of the stairs and she easily trotted down them. She looked good. A part of him missed the ragged cloak and the bright violet eyes peeking out from the mask that covered most of her face, but there was no denying she cleaned up good. She wore breeches and boots that went just over her knees, and her bodice seemed midway between corset and doublet, though done up in a lovely violet damask. She kept her hood and cloak though, though her hood didnât hide her like the old one and her cloak was shrugged off her shoulders, framing her rather than hiding her. He had known her to wear menâs clothes plenty of times before their parting, but now she was obviously wearing clothes tailored especially for her.
âLong time no see, Jesse,â she said, leaning against the bannister with a grin.
His hand didnât leave the consecrated matchlock pistol on his hip.
âSo tense,â Sombra bunched up her shoulders in a teasing way, âLook, if the Comtesse wanted to kill you, you would have been eaten alive before you reached the front door,â she grinned, âHowever, I told her about you, so sheâs making an exception.â
âSounds real hospitable,â said McCree, his brow remaining furrowed, âSo I take it you know sheâs not human.â
âSheâs not human!?â Sombraâs eyes went wide in mock horror and she leaned against McCree in a false swoon, âOh no! Save me from the vampires, Jesse!âÂ
âYâknow youâre only about half as funny as you think you are,â said McCree, taking his hand off of his pistol to fold his arms.Â
âSo still pretty funny huh?â said Sombra, grinning.
McCree scoffed.
âTch, You know you still love me,â she said breaking away from him.
McCree huffed. âYou know Iâm not here for that,â he said, frowning.
Sombra smirked, âIf you were, you would haveââ
ââŠ.been eaten alive before I reached the front door. Yeah. I hear ya,â he exhaled, âI need information.â
âYou always do,â said Sombra, âHuh⊠yâknow you havenât asked me if Iâm still human yet.â
McCreeâs eyes widened and his hand shot out and knocked her hood back with a flick of his fingers.
âHeyâ!â Sombra started but he pulled the ribbon around her neck loose as she swatted his hand off. No mark. He exhaled.
Sombra clicked her tongue scoldingly. âFresh,â she said wagging a finger.
âTeeth,â said McCree.
âThereâs no mark on my neckââ Sombra said with a roll of her eyes.
âTeeth,â McCree said more insistently. Sombra sighed and pulled her lips back, showing her teeth. McCree leaned close, squinting, then seemed satisfied. âDonât kid around about that,â he said, pulling himself back up to his full height. A long pause passed between them.
âSo who is it this time?â said Sombra.
âDemon. Bringing storms wherever he goes. Washing out whole farms. Someoneâs gotta stop it,â said McCree.
âAnd thatâs you,â said Sombra, arching an eyebrow. She chuckled a little. âYou have a bad habit of biting off more than you can chew, Jesse McCree.â
âYeah well youâre exhibit A,â said McCree, rubbing the back of his neck, âNow your little network got anything on him or not?â
âYou forget who youâre talking to, Cazador,â she said, affectionately trailing her fingers under his chin, âStep into my office,â she said walking away, âLetâs see what weâve got.âÂ
McCree itched under his hat with a sigh and followed after her.
#mcsombra#mcsombra week#this isn't really in the official witch mercy AU continuity and more of a for-funsies thing for mcsombra week#like i said i still want to see if sombra gets a special skin or recolor for halloween and work that into the 'official' witch au#implied spiderbyte

7, 22, 11 for the fic author ask!
kasldkfjlatj;osdkjfajosjdkf iâm so glad i got an ask!!!! <3 Thank you!!!
7. early influences on your writing
Probably the biggest influence on my writing was Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger, because that insipired me to really start writing!
22. favorite story youâve ever written
Ohh, thatâs hard! Probably either âOf All the Houses in All the World, You Broke in to Mineâ, or my most recent story, âEleven Years Goneâ. Those are both Overwatch fanfictions, focusing on McSombra (rare pair, I know). I like them because I feel like theyâre my most impressive.
11. do you listen to music when writing?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I donât. When I do listen to music, though, i use this playlist https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6X4XGSLDJK3pHpcdv5IqkX
Once again, tysm for the ask!!! <3 <3 <3
